French-Armenian guests hurried to explain to me the difference between the two lakes: one of them has a salinity of 13 percent, where it’s easier to swim, and the other one has a higher level of salinity – 25 percent. On that day I was also informed that the rocks were illustrated by an architect named Sedrak, who lived in Sari Tagh. Going for a run.

So this morning, as I often do on a Sunday, I went for a run. Weekdays I usually do 5k before breakfast but Sundays I often do 10k. My time today was 55mins 44 seconds for 10k which is not too shabby for someone my age.

Then while I was eating breakfast I watched the start of the London marathon, the men's race was won by Kenya's Kelvin Kiptum in a time of two hours one minute 25 seconds. Now the marathon is 42.195k so that is 4plus times what I ran in about an hour so Kiptum was running twice as fast and for twice the time. He is 23 years old not a bad time for someone his age.

After breakfast I made sawdust and plywood, of which more soon.

i say decent, bc when it runs???? its beautiful. i live 1 stop from my job bc its an express stop. even local its like. 45 mins instead of 30. beautiful

theres buses for most the places trains dont go to

it runs almost 24/7. like the only time you dont get buses is like. between 2am and 6 am, and trains run constantly-just slower at night

but when its fucked??????? when the mta is fucked up, you will learn many new ways to curse out an inatimate object

aint no way im paying $131 for the monthly metrocard, and yall have me standing around in the COLD

Spaghetti van Menetti - Kees Leibbrandt en Carl Hollander

Meneer Menetti is op weg naar het vreemde stadje Spriet, boven op de berg. Als hij eindelijk is aangekomen, verbaast hij zich over de lange dunne huizen, maar vooral over de lange dunne bewoners. Dit is de perfecte plek voor Menetti om het heerlijk lange dunne gerecht uit zijn jeugd aan de man te brengen!

Meneer Menetti laat de inwoners van de stad Spriet kennis maken met zijn spaghetti. De Sprieten hebben zoiets nog nooit eerder geproefd en kunnen er geen genoeg van krijgen, totdat het vele eten catastrofale gevolgen heeft die niemand had voorzien.

‘Spaghetti van Menetti’ is ondertussen al ruim 50 jaar oud (eerste druk 1964), maar heeft de tand des tijds ruimschoots doorstaan. Deze relatief nieuwe uitgave (2008) maakt het voor iedereen mogelijk om dit klassieke kinderverhaal weer in te duiken.

De fantasievolle tekeningen van Carl Hollander dragen bij aan de bijzondere sfeer van dit boek. Het deed mij erg denken aan boeken van Paul Biegel als ‘De kleine kapitein’ en ‘Japie’, waar Carl Hollander ook de illustraties van heeft verzorgd. 

Er is in 1995 een Junior Lijsters editie van het boek verschenen met een andere cover, wel met dezelfde illustraties binnenin gelukkig, maar het is toch niet hetzelfde. De tekeningen van Carl Hollander zijn zo’n belangrijk onderdeel van het verhaal dat de één een stuk minder is zonder de ander.

Het verhaal is licht bizar en erg grappig, zoals het een goed kinderboek betaamd, en loopt uiteraard goed af. De teksten zijn eenvoudig en lezen vlot door, ook voor beginnende lezers (AVI 5 - M5) erg geschikt dus. 

Er is al in de jaren 70 een toneelstuk van het verhaal gemaakt en het is recenter opnieuw door zowel Theater Fantast als Orchestre Infernal bewerkt tot toneelvoorstelling. Beide toneelgroepen voeren het stuk nog steeds met enige regelmaat op.

Een heerlijk fantasievol boek dat in geen enkele kinderboeken-collectie zou mogen ontbreken!
