Still trying to understand why Ace is called Trace in the infamous 4kids dub. My best guess is that they were trying to save the kids from the Dangers of Gambling.

I can't help but imagine a kid who grows up sheltered and protected by 4kids Gautama Buddha-like, not knowing of evil and not even knowing the words for it.

But then alas, they accidentally watch one episode in the sub, getting to know Ace and Smoker. That's the beginning of their descent: forgetting about the virtues of Trace and Chaser respectively, they gamble their life away, engulfed in cigarette smoke.

The most INSANE part of the 4kids dub isn't Zoro's squawking, or Ace saying "No monkey in the middle? 🥴" or "I'd be an old guyyyyyy" or Nami's "ITS A TWISTER SISTER" or even Sanji's voice.

Its the fact that they call Ace "TRACE"

How do you fuck it up that badly.

I'm convinced the voice actors were drunk the entire time they wrote that script because what in the hell.
