Sunny Hostin slams Bethenny Frankel over drug accusations

Sunny Hostin is firing back at “Real Housewives of New York City” star Bethenny Frankel after she accused “The View” co-host of using drugs. 

Hostin, 50, criticized Frankel’s behavior on the ABC daytime talk show last week, claiming the reality star screamed at one of Hostin’s children while playing at the beach, although she didn’t say when the alleged incident happened. 

“Bethenny yelled at my child on the beach,” Hostin said during an episode on June 13. “She said that her child was napping inside with the window open, and that our children were being too loud on the beach. … I yelled at her and told her that adults speak to adults.”

Frankel, 48, was asked about the alleged encounter on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” Thursday, where she appeared to dismiss the allegations entirely. 

“I don’t know,” Frankel declared. “I think she’s been drinking or taking some drugs, and I don’t know her.”

Hostin took to Twitter shortly after to double down on her claims, writing, “defamation ain’t cute.”

“Not surprising that a Reality TV personality who yells and bullies little kids on a beach lies,” she tweeted Thursday, adding that she has witnesses to corroborate her account.

As a result, Frankel appeared to block Hostin on Twitter, which”The View” co-host documented with a thinking face emoji.

Hostin has two children – son Gabriel, 16, and 13-year-old daughter Paloma – with husband Emmanuel Hostin. Frankel shares daughter Bryn, 9, with ex-husband Jason Hoppy.

USA TODAY reached out to Hostin and Frankel’s reps for comment.

The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will also be held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Friday, May 3, 2019. The 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Award Nominations were revealed today on the Emmy Award-winning show The Talk on CBS.

“The incredible level of talent and craft reflected in our nominees continues to show the growing impact of Daytime television and the incredible diversity of programming the viewing audience has to choose from,” said, Executive Director, Daytime, Brent Stanton. “With the help of some outstanding new additions to our staff, Rachel Schwartz and Lisa Armstrong, and the continued support of Luke Smith and Christine Chin, we have handled another record-breaking number of entries this year. The Daytime Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast from 2:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. during the 2018 calendar year.

The 46th Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards Gala honors the more than 70 craft & program categories behind the many shows that grace the Daytime genre.

The 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards is a presentation of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Both of this year’s shows will be led by Executive Producer, David Michaels, SVP, Daytime (NATAS) and Executive Producer, David Parks, Ignition Entertainment.

A breakdown of the awards by network, as compiled by the independent accounting firm of Lutz & Carr, LLP, follows.
