Soaps All-Time Most Romantic Couples

Todd Manning & Blair Cramer (Tender Trap)
When Llanview’s local pariahs, Todd and Blair, first hooked up, their neighbors didn’t know whether to be terrified (of what plot they might hatch) or relieved (that they were off the market). As it happened, either reaction would have been fitting. In the years that followed, the on-again/off-again couple schemed as foreplay, wreaking havoc on their hometown, but always saving their cruelest tricks for each other. By now, no doubt can remain that their love is mutual and powerful. The only question is, will they ever be able to channel their feelings in a way that doesn’t leave a path of destruction in their wake?

Jerry Jacks (Julian Stone, Ssebastian Roche).
So, the recent recast of Jagger Cates made me aware than in the past, other soap characters had been recast by actors who did not resemble their predecessors. These are a few.

Evil Dead II (1987)
Tumblr media
They are having a lot more fun with what The Evil Dead are doing, dancing around, flipping the bird, and the creations were really grotesque. There are still a lot of things I don’t understand from this film like how it seems to play off of the first film while also forgetting it? Either way this movie is a bloody mess in the best way, like its predecessor.
⭐⭐⭐.5
Tumblr media
This film plops Ash right back in the cabin from the first movie. But he goes there himself with his lady love, I just don’t get it. Does he forget all the previous events? Wack. Either way his lady love is taken away almost immediately as Ash plays a recording from the big bad book and the creeping evil from the forest comes to get her. She gets taken over by the Evil Dead (II) right away and Ash uses a shovel to behead her creepy chuckling face. Then he buries her in the woods. As one does! Again we see the creeping evil and this time it gets Ash and turns him! But the shining sun scares the fog away and turns Ash back to himself. He attempts to leave but the bridge back has been destroyed! He comes back to the house just to be attacked by his lover who springs from her grave to dance and try to chainsaw him but he chainsaws her!
Tumblr media
During the kerfuffle his lover bit his hand and as we learned from The Evil Dead a bite will turn you so his hand had turned against him and was trying to kill him so he had to cut it off of himself! WACK! It is about this time the adult children of the people who own the cabin arrive with their two guides (they took a secret path through the woods) and in his craze Ash shoots at them so they tackle him right back! More kerfuffle! Ash gets locked in the dreaded fruit cellar! The adult daughter plays the tape that had the incantation on it and hears that her father buried her dead mother in the fruit cellar. About this time The Evil Dead corpse comes up out of the ground and starts to come for Ash, come for his soul! He begins to beg to be let out of the fruit cellar! They let him out just in time! Already one of the men from the new party has turned and everyone is very scared, as they rightly should be! Good thing Ash was there to hack him to pieces.
Tumblr media
The four remaining unturned folk stood together, terrified. The clocks stopped, sounds came from all around, apparently something was trying to enter their world from another world (crazy, scary, spooky, hilarious). Our female guide gets spooked badly by Ash’s amputated and possessed hand so runs out into the woods, this is a bad idea because the woods are alive and they get her much like they do the chick in the first movie. The male guide gets the gun and threatens to kill everyone if they don’t go outside to look for the other guide and that summons more chaos, actually it turns Ash again! Ah! In all of the crazy, the male guide gets stabbed (accidently) then eaten by the zombie in the fruit cellar (The Shining levels of blood but it did all disappear by the next scene oddly enough) and Ash is able to use his free will to turn back into a human! Wow!
Tumblr media
After fighting with the only remaining human left (the adult daughter) to prove he isn’t evil (anymore) he customizes his handless wrist with a chainsaw (move over Chainsaw Man). Then he heads into the fruit cellar to get the book pages they need to send these dead and evil sons of bitches to Hell. Ash gets the pages and gives them to the daughter but unleashes the dead mother from the cellar causing quite the commotion as she is known to transform into a horrifying beast (and there are these awful chimp noises happening while it happens? Wack). The daughter distracts her once mother with an old song and Ash uses the opportunity to cut the bitch up. Sad for the daughter but very necessary for living. They think they are safe but the literal trees are beating up the house.
Tumblr media
Then the daughter spends all this time explaining the plot instead of furthering it when they are legitimately about the fucking DIE but I just have to remind myself it is in the script. Ash is making some silly faces at the crazy, scary, spooky, hilarious Evil Dead. The daughter reads the words that create a portal that sucks the creatures back in but the only problem is she passes out before she can close it and our friend Ash gets sucked in and he becomes the savior of another time period. Whomp-whomp for Ash.

ok so it's been a bit (3yrs?) since I've watched GH regularly. the last handful of clips I saw was previous Christmas with Scout & Drew. I've seen pieces of them as they come up but that's it. I just saw a clip from September that revealed Blair as Martin's ex. honestly in soap world that makes total sense to me lol also great acting chemistry! but someone catch me up here: as Roger was just revealed to be leaving, did he & Kassie actually have scenes (as Austin) or just run into each other on set? also it said Ryan Paevey was briefly playing Younger Martin, did we ever have that scene or not yet? I remember it mentioned in an interview but haven't seen the show in awhile

The song playing on the Rodi's jukebox during this scene is Kathy Troccoli's "If I'm Not in Love."

DAY TWENTY-SIX: Favorite Sad Scene
These scenes always make me cry. Todd and Blair are *sooooooooooo* in love here and happy, waiting for their little Starr to be born. Major props to KDP for expertly playing Blair’s underlying fear and grief as if she already knew something was going to happen and they would never be the same again. Of course Todd had to leave her the day after their wedding for *sigh* Marty because he lives in self-loathing and guilt over what he did to her. It is a shame that his decision this day forever affected their love story. Both characters would go on to say this was the last time things were perfect between them, that they were a family. And the decades that followed showed both characters desperately trying to recapture what they had in these scenes. They were even mentioned in the finale on ABC as “things were never the same.” We never did get to see Todd and Blair actually together, happy, LIE-FREE as a family with their children and we never got to see TnB ever go on a honeymoon they deserved. Everything about this was tragic. But god, were they beautiful.

I honestly hope that Blair is being brought back because of the Pikeman story.  If you remember when she was last on General Hospital (in 2012), she, Tea Delgado, and Skye Chandler Quartermaine left Port Charles to investigate why Blair’s then-fiance and Tea’s brother Tomas Delgado, an ex-CIA agent looked like Skye and Carly’s ex, Lorenzo Alcazar, a drug trafficker and arms dealer, who Jason supposedly killed in 2007.  There has been a rumor that Ted King is returning to GH.  It would be the best way to tie up some stories.
