So, for awhile now I’ve thought it’d be fun if in the frontier cast, that the siblings (Shinya & Yutaka) learned about the digital world and ended up becoming the partners for the celestial angels. Of course, this wouldn’t work cause there’s three Angels and two siblings, but then I thought of a really cute idea where Kouji (& Kouichi) gets a little brother and then it’d match up!

God the holidays were… I mean… Weird. I did have fun in places but overall, felt weird. It was very weird. However I did get to see a friend! Stayed till 11.30pm, arrived at 12. It was rather awkward with my mother sat right there, but what can you do. She seems upset that we’re not Together. But I swear! This guy is just me but with a moustache! I got to walk around and point at buildings and go “Did you know that in 17-something-hundred—“ and I had a rapt audience! He showed me how lime kilns worked when we walked by one! I love it!

It was really nice to see a friend and it was so so good to get out of this bloody awful place for a bit. I’m back now but at the very least my brother is in Germany and won’t be back for a few more days, so I’m safe there. But god. What a weird, WEIRD holiday.

I grew up with a lot of "relationships are hard" mentality around me and always thought, "If a relationship feels this hard, it's not worth it," and I thought for awhile that I had commitment issues because I'd date someone and be able to see that it would end at some point.

I know my background. I know how many fucked up relationships were modeled to me as just what it's like to be in a relationship. I was never blinded by hope, but I worried I was cut short by cynicism.

And then Sean and I started dating. And we hit six months, and my brain went immediately to, "Well, if it ends, it'll end like--" and then there was no end to that sentence.

And I was fucking floored because I had an end to that sentence for my other romantic relationships. And, yes, I was only 22, but it wasn't about maturing to an understanding about adulthood. It was the fact that somehow, in my fucked up and weird life, I'd secretly built a list of what WOULD work but never looked at it.

At 22, suddenly, it looked like that. Six months into dating this guy, the end result was...not an end. It didn't feel real. But I also deeply wanted it. So, I did something I had never done before: I went for it.

It's not always been perfect or easy or simple, but I went into the long-term idea with a sense of WANTING and WORKING for it. And that's the difference. Relationships AREN'T always easy. But if you're aware you need to unfuck shit as you go, they GET easy.

I don't remember when it pretty fucking easy, but it did. I've compared it previously to the fridge kicking on. The fridge makes the same sound every time it kicks on to cool things. You know it. I know it. We all ignore it because that's just a background sound to your life.

But if the fridge CLUNKS? Stop. Pay attention. Look into the clunk. Talk about the clunk. Make a plan about the clunk. Move forward having heard, acknowledged, and discussed the clunk. Because that is NOT the normal sound. THAT is the sound you evaluate and check in on.

And the answer could be, "The clunk is gone" or it could be "The clunk is much softer, and we're both okay with it." Both valid responses. But you can't ignore the clunk. If you ignore the clunk, you're fucked.

People who say "marriage is hard" or "relationships are hard" and complain about the same clunk over and over and over, the problem isn't that everyone hears and ignores the clunks. The problem is that THEY are choosing to ignore the clunk. And even as it gets louder, they still act like everyone hears the clunk and also thinks it's normal.
