BUDDIE + cliché romance tropes
(original poll)
(happy birthday @oneawkwardcookie <3 ily)
[Image ID: eight gifs of Buck and Eddie from 9-1-1. They are colored various hues, and overlaid on top is one post from a tumblr poll of cliché romance tropes.
GIF 1: Eddie and Buck standing across from each other in 3.03. Eddie watches Buck kindly while Buck looks over at Chris before shifting on his feet to meet Eddie's eyes. The gif is colored purple on Eddie's side, and yellow on Buck's. The poll text reads, "Symbolic pairs (Sun/Moon, Heaven/Earth, King/Queen, Fire/Ice, etc.). Overlaid on the purple side is a wallpaper with moon and stars, and on the orange side, various designs of suns
GIF 2: A blue-toned gif of Eddie wide-eyed in the truck in 4.14, asking Buck if he's hurt. There is orange-pink gradient text on the gif, reading "are you hurt?" and "no, no, no, I'm good." The poll text reads, "'Are you okay?' asked by the bruised and battered one/'Thank God you're okay'"
GIF 3: A rose-pink hued gif from 5.06. Eddie is blurred out, close to the camera, gaze fixed on Mitchell with his jaw tight and angry. Buck, in focus, has his hand hovering up after being struck, bleeding from the forehead as he turns towards Eddie, looking worried. The poll text reads, "'Who hurt you!?'/murderous rage upon finding the other beaten up (bonus if quiet)"
GIF 4: A sea-green colored gif of Buck and Eddie hugging as they make up in 3.06. Buck's head tucks against Eddie's shoulder happily. Overlaid are red hearts. The poll text reads, "Cool-down hug."
GIF 5: A purple gif of Eddie exasperatedly telling Buck that he's telling him about the legal guardianship because Buck believes it would be better if he'd been shot instead. Overlaid over the purple is faint repeating text with Eddie's dialogue from the scene, "Because, Evan, you came in here the other day and you said you thought it would have been better if it had been you who was shot. You act like you're expendable. But you're wrong." The poll text reads, "'You better not die on me'/Scolding the other for trying to sacrifice themself."
GIF 6: A red-toned gif, blended with Eddie gripping the rope in 4.05 to help lift the container off of Sal, and Buck digging at the ground in 3.15. There's text from multiple dialogues that read, "Buck can you hear me? / We gotta go dig. / Hang in there Buck / Eddie, Hang on! / Do more!" The poll text reads, "'I'll follow you into hell' but also 'don't go where i can't follow'"
GIF 7: A blue toned gif, two scenes - Buck in 6.12 sucking in a breath, head propped on a hand as he turns his gaze up at Eddie, telling him he doesn't know how he is; Eddie in 5.14, watching Charlie make the rounds on the horse, not believing he could have a hand in saving the kid's life. Overlaid the blue are multiple lightning strikes. The poll text reads, "Hurt/Comfort."
GIF 8: Eddie telling Buck he can have his back any day, blended with Buck telling him he could have his. On Eddie's side, the gif is pink, and on Buck's, a sea-green. The poll text reads, "'I've got your back'/battle couple/absolute trust"

The Commercial Refrigeration System Market is projected to grow from USD 54766 million in 2024 to USD 75239.81 million by 2032, expanding at a CAGR of 4.05% from 2024 to 2032.The global commercial refrigeration system market is witnessing rapid growth, driven by several key factors such as rising demand from the food and beverage industry, technological advancements, and an increasing emphasis on energy efficiency. Commercial refrigeration systems are essential for preserving perishable goods, maintaining food safety, and ensuring product quality across various industries. This market encompasses various types of equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, walk-in coolers, display cases, and ice-making machines, used in sectors such as supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, and food processing facilities.

Market Overview
The commercial refrigeration system market has seen substantial growth in recent years, driven primarily by increasing urbanization, rising disposable incomes, and changing consumer preferences towards ready-to-eat and frozen food products. In addition, the expansion of the foodservice industry, including restaurants, cafes, and hotels, has spurred demand for efficient and advanced refrigeration solutions.
According to industry reports, the global commercial refrigeration market was valued at approximately USD 30 billion in 2020 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 5% between 2021 and 2027. This growth is further boosted by the ongoing developments in cooling technologies, the need for greener refrigeration solutions, and the increasing awareness of food safety regulations.
Key Drivers of Growth
1. Rising Demand in the Food and Beverage Industry The food and beverage industry is one of the largest end-users of commercial refrigeration systems. The increasing demand for frozen and chilled food products has resulted in a heightened need for efficient refrigeration solutions. Supermarkets, grocery stores, and food processing facilities rely heavily on these systems to store perishable products, maintain their quality, and extend their shelf life. The growth of e-commerce and online grocery delivery services has also driven the adoption of commercial refrigeration systems to meet the requirements of cold chain logistics.
2. Technological Advancements Technological innovations in the commercial refrigeration sector have led to the development of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly systems. New refrigeration units with advanced features such as digital temperature control, smart monitoring systems, and energy-efficient compressors have gained significant traction in the market. The adoption of natural refrigerants such as ammonia, CO2, and hydrocarbons, which have low global warming potential (GWP), is another major trend, in line with global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet environmental standards.
3. Stringent Food Safety Regulations Regulatory bodies across the globe have introduced stringent food safety standards to ensure the quality and safety of food products. These regulations require businesses to maintain proper refrigeration and storage practices to prevent contamination and spoilage. As a result, companies in the foodservice, retail, and hospitality industries are increasingly investing in commercial refrigeration systems that comply with these regulations, further driving market growth.
4. Growth of the Hospitality Industry The global hospitality industry, encompassing hotels, restaurants, and cafes, has experienced steady growth due to increasing tourism and consumer spending on dining out. These establishments require reliable refrigeration systems to store food and beverages safely. The trend of cloud kitchens and ghost kitchens, which are food delivery-only operations, has also contributed to the demand for commercial refrigeration systems to maintain operational efficiency.
Challenges Facing the Market
Despite the positive growth trajectory, the commercial refrigeration market faces certain challenges. The high initial investment required for purchasing and installing advanced refrigeration systems is a significant barrier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Additionally, the rising cost of energy and the need for regular maintenance and repairs add to the overall operational expenses.
Moreover, environmental concerns regarding the use of refrigerants with high GWP have led to stricter regulations on traditional cooling technologies. Businesses are now required to phase out older systems and adopt more eco-friendly alternatives, which can be cost-prohibitive.
Future Outlook
The future of the commercial refrigeration system market looks promising, with continued growth anticipated over the next decade. The increasing focus on energy efficiency and sustainability will drive the development of innovative refrigeration solutions. Companies are expected to invest in research and development to create systems that not only reduce energy consumption but also comply with environmental regulations.
Moreover, the growing trend of smart and connected refrigeration systems, which enable real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance, will further revolutionize the industry. As businesses seek to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime, the adoption of these advanced technologies will become more prevalent.

Minnesota Twins-Washington Nationals Series Preview
5.20.24-Pablo Lopez RHP (4-3) 3.93 ERA Vs. Mitchell Parker LHP (2-2) 3.09 ERA
5.21.24-Joe Ryan RHP (2-3) 3.57 ERA Vs. Patrick Corbin LHP (1-4) 5.59 ERA
5.22.24-Simeon Woods Richardson RHP (1-0) 2.97 ERA Vs. Jake Irvin RHP (2-4) 3.91 ERA
The Twins At A Glance- The Minnesota Twins bats have went ice cold during a six-game losing streak. They have scored nine runs in their past six games and the pitching hasn't been bad outside of Saturday's loss. Trevor Larnach is 0-for-his-last-19 and hasn't gotten a hit in over a week. Alex Kirilloff is 1-for-his-last-12 over the past week. Manny Margot has been a bright spot with a .364 average over the past week. He should get plenty of playing time with the Twins facing a pair of lefties in this series. The team made a roster move on Sunday when they designated Jay Jackson for assignment. I think he will refuse his assignment and become a free agent. Caleb Boushley was called up to replace him. Boushley has been good for the Saints with 38 strikeouts over 41 2/3 innings of work. Jhoan Duran has allowed four runs over his past two outings. Josh Staumont hasn't allowed a run over 4 1/3 innings since his call-up.
The Nationals At A Glance- The Nationals are a young team with a bunch of talent. The Nats have lost five straight games as the Phillies swept them in Philadelphia over the weekend. CJ Abrams is a budding superstar and is hitting .269 with seven homers and twenty-one RBI. Jesse Winker has been a good additiong with five homers and twenty RBI. Luis Garcia has been good at second base with a .275 average. The Nats have a few former Twins in Eddie Rosario, Joey Gallo, and Ildemaro Vargas. Rosario is hitting just .180 with six homers and fourteen knocked in. Joey Gallo just returned from a shoulder injury. He is hitting just .129 on the year. The Nationals starting rotation owns a 4.05 ERA, which is 17th in baseball. The Twins will miss Mackenzie Gore and Trevor Williams, who have been the best starters for Washington. The bullpen is a little better with a 3.72 ERA, which is eleventh-best in MLB. Dylan Floro is having a comeback year and has allowed just one run over 22 2/3 innings. Kyle Finnegan is the closer with thirteen saves and a 1.89 ERA. Jacob Barnes, Hunter Harvey, and Derek Law have been good options out of the bullpen.
What To Watch For- The Nationals took two of three from the Twins last April in a chilly series at Target Field. The Nationals lead the all-time series at (11-10) and have won nine of the past eleven meetings. The Twins haven't been to DC since 2016 when the Nats swept them. The Nationals were the last visiting team to play at Target Field. Pablo Lopez is (4-3) with a 4.98 ERA in thirteen starts against the Nats. He has a 4.25 ERA in seven starts at Nationals Park. Patrick Corbin is (1-1) with a 4.50 ERA in two starts against the Twins. All the other projected starters have not faced their opponent. The Twins get an easier opponent, but this Nats team has a lot of young talent. They took two of three from the Dodgers in Los Angeles earlier this year.

Why ‘Ice‘ and ‘Façade’ are Top 10 “Alias” Episodes
Because @sydneythorne was curious about their inclusion in my list.
Let’s start with “Ice”, since it’s probably the most disputable entry in my indisputable* list. While everything I’ve seen indicates that it’s quite a divisive episode, and part of the reasons why I like it are the same reasons why I like “Façade”, making its inclusion somewhat redundant, I stand by it.
Alias stand-alones tend to get a bad rap: season 4 is easily the most consistent and consistently rewatchable season of the show, in my book, but the early part is often considered one of the series’ “bad” parts. While it’s certainly not the series’ most daring era, I do feel its merits are often ignored. It’s Alias without its crutches, unable to rely on “we can work on it later” as an excuse to avoid things like proper characterization and knowing how to end a story.
(Like, I love me some Irina, but even in season 2, she is made to use only a fraction of her potential. Have her played by a weaker actress, and her story would collapse like a bad soufflé. The same goes with Sark: even as a series regular for two seasons, there’s very little there there—he’s a capable underling, and there’s hints of a deeper relationship with Irina. But that’s it—hints. Actually attempt to give him something of weight—see the entirety of “A Man of His Word” where they tried so hard to pretend they’d created a character whose epiphany we cared about—and it simply doesn’t work.)
So let’s talk about Kiera McClaine. who in the space of a single episode gets to be funny, sad, tough, vulnerable, sexy (that accent), sympathetic, and ultimately tragic. Her story is a simple one—no real twists and turns here—but it is complex, dealing with the issues of morality Alias should have been dealing with all along but rarely did, and which, as a bonus, intersect with Vaughn’s in a way that makes his side of the whole Lauren thing seem, for a hot minute, compelling. She’s the sort of character Alias rarely deals with, and it makes this story stand out all the more. What’s more, she works largely because she’s a one-shot character: give the writers more space to deal with her, and it’s entirely possible she wouldn’t have worked nearly as well.
Then there’s the Nadia B-plot, which is simple—almost simplistic—and yet is full of lovely interactions of the sort we rarely get in the series. Characters in Alias, unlike those in Nikita, rarely just sit down and share their feelings, so the opportunity to see all of these characters discussing Irina is incredibly nice to see, even if it they don’t lead to solid answers. Here, though, that lack of answers isn’t a stall; it’s the point. Irina is a complicated character, and this is one of the best examples of what that means.
----
Season 3 of Alias is generally a mess, but it’s a mess with a fairly noticeable nadir, which can be found in the first few episodes after “Full Disclosure”, where the writers are stuck figuring out just what the heck they’re going to do with the rest of the season. “Façade” is the last episode of this period, and it comes at you like a bullet, not only being unlike anything the season—or the series—had done before, but by being super-good.
First of all, the conceit of having Sydney and company create a super-elaborate production to get the information they want is a brilliant, and long overdue, expansion of the series’ formula. There’s a case to be made that Alias never really figured out keep its trademark action scenes fresh and compelling, once the initial novelty was over and the budgets started getting cut, so seeing them actually work some new dimensions into them is fantastic. Yes to jobs involving aliases more complex than a wig, a dress, and an accent. Gimme more of those, all the time.
But what really makes this one mission work is that it feels feels substantial, in a way few don’t. There’s specificity here that Alias, for reasons that are never quite clear, usually avoids: Sydney isn’t trying to fool nameless incidental characters, but Michael Ryan, who has specific motivations, quirks, and things to watch out for. It makes all the difference, giving the mission some real stakes and tension, and consequently, Ryan ends up being the best one-shot baddie since McKennas Cole back in the show’s first season.
While “Façade” is largely a stand-alone, it is, weirdly, one of the few episodes of the season that manages to use its various elements in a way that is satisfying. Here, we not only get the first (and sadly only) real use of Julia Thorne since “Full Disclosure,” we also get the return of Leonid Lyzenker; a plot that actually requires Sark to be head of the Covenant’s North American cell; and a plot involving the bombs from “Blowback”. Finally, it is the one episode in the season that best manages to give a sense of the Covenant as an organization.
Still, this isn’t just an episode that’s good compared to season 3—it’s a great episode period. It’s both fun and funny, it uses almost all of the main cast (barring poor Dixon, a barely-there Sloane and an absent Lauren) to good use. It gives us a moment of great tension and a genuinely surprising resolution. And, much like “Ice”, it gives us a great central guest character. It’s everything I want from Alias.

okay well now we need your intellectual ranking of buck’s looks over the seasons. a top 5. academic analysis included
OK YOU ASKED FOR IT *cracks knuckles*
so if we're doing an "intellectual ranking" we'll need categories right? i propose sorting buck's looks by:
hotness
softness
how much each specific scene makes me want to eat glass (because as hot or soft as he might be for me, personally, it truly comes down to context)
each rated out of five. and introducing a fourth bonus category called "is he wet y/n" (water/sweat/blood included!)
based on this infallible system i present to you: an intellectual ranking of buck’s looks over the seasons (my top five + honourable mentions)
5. texas buck (ls 2.03 hold the line)
i know we all talk about crossover eddie but can we discuss crossover buck? please? it is a known fact oliver stark looks good in orange/yellow and boy does he prove it here. the lafd bomber jacket is also a look. the 118 ATE in texas and cherry on top is buck’s confused puppy face when tk assumes he’s hitting on him.
hotness 5/5, softness 4/5, do i want to eat glass 2/5, is he wet y/n = 11
4. pilot buck (1.01 pilot)
when i say pilot buck i am talking about this specific scene. also the shirtless scene on the rooftop but mostly this scene. am i a lesbian? well, yeah, i’m pretty sure. am i barking directly at it? well, yeah, i’m pretty sure!
hotness 5/5, softness 4/5, do i want to eat glass 3/5, is he wet y/n = 12
3. gurney buck (4.06 jinx)
how oliver stark manages to look both sexy and endearing in a face mask is beyond me but here we are. the attraction in this look lies not only in the look itself but the idea of the look: buck, the tallest member of the 118 by quite a margin, laid out gazelle-limbs on the gurney. you can’t make this shit up. unless you’re the writer/director for jinx in which case i guess you did make this shit up. thank you for your service.
hotness 5/5, softness 5/5, do i want to eat glass 3/5, is he wet y/n = 13
2. "hey” buck (survivors 4.14)
this whole episode? a work of art. this specific scene? do i need to go on? no but i will: running through the hospital like heathcliff searching for kathy on the moors. the slow zoom on eddie (ana? quie literally moving out of the frame if i think about this too hard i become unhinged) then buck. the softness of the “hey”. the cosy jumper. the curls! THE CURLS! work of art etc. etc.
hotness 5/5, softness 5/5, do i want to eat glass 5/5, is he wet y/n = 15
and before we get to my #1, some honourable mentions:
sharknado buck (2.11 new beginnings)
is this ensemble groundbreaking? not really. do i prefer his hair messy and curly? yeah of course have you looked at my blog. does any of this even matter when he’s smiling so big and wide like this it breaks my heart open in two like i’ve cracked an egg???
balcony buck (5.04 home and away)
and a recent contender enters the ring! *hits bell* there is just something so erotic about staring at your best friend with a black eye you’re icing with an ice pack he probably made up for you while wearing your comfiest trackpants and hoodie and he tells you exactly what you need to hear because he knows you better than the back of his hand <3 once again context is everything but also i like to see my favourite boy a little squished. a little dented. all the better to love you my dear <3
fire marshal buck (3.04 triggers)
the shirt so snug over his biceps it’s almost ripping. the tie pin. the clipboard. oh yeah it’s all coming together.
backwards cap buck (4.06 jinx)
the frat boyism. the unparalleled dumbassery. no thoughts head empty. and like i know i KNOW the cap is simply a costume device to make him look younger with minimal effort but also if i close my eyes i do not see <3
bulletproof vest buck (2.01 under pressure / 4.14 survivors)
couldn’t find the gif for survivors but this is hot too. i know something else i’d like to see him strap on
AND FINALLY...
DRUMROLL...
1. “that’s what buck means to me” buck (4.05 buck begins)
(gif credit @mediagifs because i couldn’t find it in gif search and needed this specific moment)
where do i even start. the curls. the soot. the wry smile. the emotional turmoil of the episode ripping me open like i’m a can of tuna and it’s a can opener. objectively there is nothing special about this outfit it is literally just his turnout gear but there is a... how do you say... je ne sais quoi. yes he is my mentally unhealthy six foot two fictional best friend/boyfriend/son <3 keep walking <3
hotness 5/5, softness 5/5, do i want to eat glass 5/5,is he wet y/n = 15 + bonus 💦
thus concludes my academic analysis of buck’s best looks. please note these are subject to change at any given moment on any whim i please. also i now realise i said before s4 is not my favourite hair era yet most of these are s4 what can i say i’m untrustworthy <3
#answered#anon#thanks for fueling my derangement anon much obliged#buck#evan buckley#911#911 on fox#best looks™

[Image ID: six gifs of Eddie Diaz and Evan Buckley from 9-1-1. The gifs are overlaid with a quote from This Is How We Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. Some gifs are done more vibrant than others, and two fonts have been used, one cursive and one typewriter style.:
GIF 1: A vibrant, purple-colored gif of Buck and Eddie hugging at Eddie's probation ceremony in 2.18, Buck smiling widely as he congratulates Eddie. The text reads "I love you."
GIF 2: Two gifs transitioning into each other; The first is Eddie turning to ask Buck if he's okay in 3.18. The text reads, "on battlefields" The second is Buck looking worriedly at Eddie as Eddie shares what he found out about his squad in 5.14. The text reads, "in shadows."
GIF 3: Three gifs from 4.13 transitioning into each other; The first is a vibrant gif of Eddie reaching out to Buck after being shot, blood pooling beneath him. The text reads, "In fading ink." The second is a half-desaturated gif of Buck dragging his arm across pavement as he pants hard underneath Mehta's grip, staring at Eddie in shock. The text reads, "on cold ice." The third is a black-and-white gif of Buck being splattered with Eddie's blood, with only the blood colored red. The text reads, "splashed with the blood of seals."
GIF 4: Two gifs transitioning into each other; the first is Buck and Eddie exchanging an amused glance in 6.04. The text reads, "in the ring of trees." The second is Buck and Eddie fixing the holes in Eddie's bedroom wall in 5.18. The text reads, "in the wreckage of a planet crumbling to space."
GIF 5: A vibrant purple-colored gif of Buck and Eddie hugging in 3x06, Buck smiling widely as he and Eddie drag each other into a tight hug, moving to duck his head into the cradle of Eddie's neck. The text reads, "you slid back through my life" in cursive
GIF 6: Two gifs transitioning; the first is Eddie in 4.05 smiling knowingly at Buck about him taking the risk to save Sal. The text reads, "And I have known you." The second gif is Eddie smiling at Buck like he knows why he's upset in 2.01. The completed text reads, "And I have known you since before I knew you."

What did Rio mean when he said “you’re my girl” in 4.05 at the bar? Was it that Beth is his “crime” girl or was it to infer something else? I mean, I liked it but a bit confused about what he was trying to convey with it.
Oh yeah, I mean I definitely love the idea of Rio calling Beth his girl, but I’m not quite sure it’s actually a good thing when it happens on the show lol.
My read on that scene is that it is essentially the latest installment in continued the Brio power struggle with Rio warning Beth that she is on thin ice and should be careful. There’s a reason why he decided to drop the ‘my girl’ bomb right before mentioning that Beth is going to be meeting his boss(es) and that she’s now his fall guy for the business.
And really this comes down to two things for me:
There’s basically three levels of pet-names/nicknames that Rio uses - the generic (darling, sweetheart, honey), the more personable/intimate (ma, mama/mami), and the warning (champ, girl). The first two are fairly benign, but the last one? Historically Rio has only used champ/my girl right before the shit hit the fan and it’s never been in a particularly positive context. He has only called someone ‘my girl’ right before he was going to clean up a loose end (i.e. 3x03 at the bar with Beth and 3x05 with Lucy). So on some level I think Rio could be reminding Beth of that moment in 3x03 especially considering their current dynamic.
There’s also an inherently possessive element to it - my girl - which I think speaks to two (more) things. This is Rio essentially saying that (1) Beth is his loose end/rotten egg to take care of personally (which was alluded to in 3x03 when he said ‘I’ll do it myself’) and (2) that on some level Beth belongs to him (which is more in terms to the whole shooting fallout and the fact that she works for him, makes money for him and not really in a romantic way of belonging). It’s a callout to their power imbalance really and the fact that Rio does in fact still hold a lot of power in their relationship. Plus I think you could even argue that Rio is saying they’re almost a package deal? That if he goes down then she’ll go down with him as ‘his girl’.
So while ‘my girl’ is in a lot of ways “romantic”, when Rio uses it it’s definitely not in that vein. It’s a show of power and a reminder and a warning that sure is wrapped up in the intimacy of their past, but isn’t defined by it.

Chicago Blackhawks Player Reviews (2020-21 season): Riley Stillman
Games played: 8 Points: 1 Goals: 1 Assists: 0 Plus/Minus: 5 PIM: 2 Game-Winning Goals: 0
Summary In the 2020-21 NHL season, Riley Stillman played in 8 games with the Florida Panthers, but produced no points with the team during that time.
On April 8, 2021, he was traded to Chicago from the Panthers along with Brent Connolly, the rights to Henrik Borgstrom and a 7th-round pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Lucas Carlsson & Lucas Wallmark.
Stillman made his debut as a Blackhawk on April 12, 2021 (along with Brett Connolly) in a 4-3 overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets where he had 21:23 of ice time.
On May 6, 2021, he scored his first NHL career goal and first point of the 2020-21 season in a 2-1 overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets, making him the 8th Blackhawks player on the team to score his first goal of the 2020-21 season.
Thoughts from my point of view I didn't get a good vibe on Riley Stillman right away when he was first traded from Florida to Chicago, but after this season, my vibe on him is "so far, so good."
Even though Stillman didn't produce a lot of points this season, he's good at managing the puck and the Blackhawks like the physical and defensive elements that he brings to his game.
Riley Stillman signed a three-year, $4.05 million contract extension on April 25, 2021 to remain with the Blackhawks that will expire after the 2023-24 NHL season. I think it will be interesting to see how he'll do in his first full season as a Blackhawk.

With a blissful look on his face, he exhales, and his eyes lose focus.
3. Turkey Down — Lucifer. Deckerstar. A prompt for the the Lucifer Bingo term “damages” and the dialogue prompt: “Put the turkey down.”
