i see more of myself in my father

than i would like to.

we have the same eyes

and the same laugh, sure, but

i know what his face looks like

when he's swallowing down smoke

and forcing himself to keep it there.

we make the same face.

i know what his hands look like

when he's scrambling to

bury his ashes of secrecy

under broken flower pots

so mom doesn't get worried again.

i do a lot of things so

mom doesn't get worried again.

we have the same hands.

and i think we have the same

tendency to break her heart.

if she knew how much like my father

i am becoming, i fear

she would never forgive me.

i fear she would

never forgive herself.

We officially have a 7 year old and ✨ @lilstarsparties ✨ brought all the fun, glam, and dancing to help us celebrate Miss Rowan Louise! The happiness that radiated out of her all day was infectious. And also… how is she 7!?! 😩

Back in Waterloo. Yesterday we had a good day. We had lunch at Eggscellent Cafe with Michael and met his new girlfriend. We liked her, she’s very nice.

Right after lunch we stopped by the bakery where Little Bit is working now with her sister Cynthia, we got a small cake to celebrate my birthday which was last Wednesday.

I got dropped off at Sophie’s bridal shower. Evidently the groom’s mom did not want to play the regular games so instead we did some painting party thing 🙄 I can’t say that I enjoyed it but I got over it, it was fun to see everyone.

In the evening we went back to Janice’s house and met everyone there, had some pizza and cake, the little man was having too much fun playing with the toys that belong to Janice’s granddaughters.

After all of them left, poor Michael called and said that a Domino’s pizza driver hit his car. His new car. That’s so unfortunate. I guess it could had been worse but dang his nice new car. I feel bad for him.

This morning we got a late start, we were exhausted from the last couple of days but definitely had a ride than Friday. Stop to eat by Cracker Barrel in O’Fallon MO right after St. Louis. It was overcast most of the way and it rained on and off the last hour.

Tomorrow I’m working until 3:30, I’m not looking forward to it. We’ve been having problems with the evening receptionist, she didn’t go last week, she was supposedly sick Monday through Wednesday and Thursday no one had heard from her , later she said she was at home so she didn’t even bother to let anyone know she wasn’t going. Not sure what’s going on there so I’m wondering if she’ll show up tomorrow. She usually calls in Mondays or Thursdays.

April's Flowers Day 28:

I am grateful for Google sheets for budget tracking and time tracking. I'm beginning to see where and how my mindset can and needs to shift around Money and time and work. I see ik going in a more expensive direction.

I am grateful for the sun. It was 80° and I soaked in so much of it. Hence why I was so tired lol.

I am grateful for the protection of my Aura. I asked the house to contribute $1 each to buy a case of water and that turned into the adult asking for us all to contribute to everything. Which is valid and also an opportunity to be drained if you don't have boundaries and praise god to me for having boundaries and protecting my resources. I stated a number I was comfortable with and will not. Judge further. I'm grateful for growth in this way.

I am grateful that my exit plan, with diligence, appears to be on track and I'm grateful to Rod for being my north star. If it wasn't for him, I don't know how I would have etched out this timeline.

She sees Neil bristle with offense, like a cat being pet the wrong way. “You all have very interesting ways of saying hello to people.” Neil shoots at her.

“Yeah, I’ve been told that.” She offers her hand regardless of the likelihood that Neil was going to bite it instead of sniffing it like the feral cat he is. “I’m Janie Smalls.” she introduces.

She can see Neil squinting at her and wonders if Wymack had mentioned that she was too busy being suicidal to play when he had gone to recruit Neil. She also sees his eyes shoot down to her wrists where Janie’s cutlines remained.
