Are you named after anyone? Not necessarily a person, but after an old wolf as 'úlfr' means 'wolf' in Old Norse.

When was the last time you cried? I'll only cry tears of happiness once I dance on the bones of my enemies. (note from Axl: She's lying. She cries every night to herself. She's only playing 3edgy5u card.)

Do you have kids? No. I take care of other gremlins every day of my life. I don't need any more goblins who can do barely more than cry and scream.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? The question should be whether you use your brain for asking such unintelligible things...

What’s the first thing you notice about people? Whether they have the courage to look me in the eye or not. Of course, whether they are willing to lie, as well.

What’s your eye color? Black, but my Master used to tell me I had the biggest brown eyes he'd ever seen. I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle. (note from Axl: Ulfa doesn't have a reflection so she can't say herself.)

Scary movies or happy endings? The first option. People should realise happy endings are the poison of their rationality. It blinds you and pushes you blindly into the unkonown. The fear though, it keeps you on alert, it doesn't allow you to slow down, it sharpens your senses, instincts and makes you quicker, smarter, better. It allows you to survi- Oh, my apologies. Only now, I noticed we were speaking of movies, not a real life. Hm... Still, scary movies. There's nothing better when they use the fakest blood out there.

Any special talents? That depends on what precisely you deem to be special. I deeply appreciate the company of animals and thus I learnt how to exactly mimic their sounds. It doesn't matter if it is a horse, a wolf, a raven or any other creature. Thinking of it further, some people say my voice can get awfully similar to those of other people, as well...

Where were you born? Another peculiar question?! As you wish. I...am not sure. All I remember is a dark sky and that it was rather cold. Maybe it began to snow. Who knows. What I know for sure, though, is that the place where I grew up would be nowadays considered either Central or Eastern Europe.

What are your hobbies? Hobbies? Well, I'm quite fond of reading, especially scientific books and articles, as well as playing instruments, a piano, to be detailed. Yet, my sister and I used to do a lot of crochet. My apologies once again as I forgot my favourite - cars. They caught my attention some time ago and I admit it is vastly entertaining to upgrade parts of the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS me and my collegue discovered on the scrapyard.

Have you any pets? I don't like such a word, however I see where you're coming from. Yes. My companions are Tiru, a she-wolf, Krabat, a raven, Meluzína and Lešij, two horses. Although, a few days ago I found this little puppy in the streets and I supposse I'm keeping the little guy. His name is Argu. (note from Axl: translation for Meluzína is 'howling/wailing wind' and Lešij is 'Leshy').

What sports do you play/have played? I must admit I am keen on swordsmanship and horse-riding. I keep myself in shape by mountain running, too.

How tall are you? 214 cm which should be around 7 ft tall.

Favorite subject in school? I never attended one when I was younger but probably that you now consider Biology or Chemistry. In general, I dare to say, the science field interests me the most.

Dream job? Again, you and your dreams...a doctor, though, I already am one...

Tag Game: This or That Writer's Edition

First of all, tysm @pens-swords-stuff for the tag <3

1. historical or futuristic

Historical is a Y E S for me. Even when I try to write something futuristic it ends up being either heavily inspired by an older era or it's straight up its alternative version.

2. the opening or closing chapter

As much as I love starting a story and making clear what character does what, what's (not) the purpose of the world and establishing a system and worldbuilding, I'm picking closing chapter. It's always those bittersweet feelings that get me everytime - something old ends and something new begins.

3. light+fluffy or dark+gritty

DARK + GRITTY! The melancholy always finds a way to me, I don't know why tho. Although, light+fluffy is also nice. But my style just flows better with being '3edgy5u'. But light+fluffy...Alright, maybe light and fluffy. I'm picking that one. Enough of angst for today.

4. animal companion or found family

This one's pretty tough for me. I've been around animals since I remember so I hairballs of fluff hold special place in my heart. On the other hand, found family also found its way there. But I'll go with the found family.

5. horror or romance

Horror all the way. Although, I'm attempting write a story with a romance subplot I just can't entirely vibe with it. In horror, I get to use my imagination more often while in the romance I can see the plotline, the future problems and the overall dilemma from a mile away. Which is a shame. Because relationships and their growth can be made so much more interesting just by paying attention to various points of views and angles. WHICH is often used in horror. Plus, I love the fact that the fear comes from the unknown and uncertainity. It unlocks so much of potential for a nice worldbuilding and analysis of a character.

6. hard or soft magic system

Never paid much attention to this so all I can say is that I mostly vibe with the idea when I establish rules for the world itself and then I can get to play with the unknown (the part that not even characters don't know because they MUSTN'T and SHOULDN'T know, not because the can't). A little bit of a mystery play and it's all done. The whole idea of exploration of the world and so on.

7. standalone or series

I've always loved series and it kind of stuck with me, I suppose. Doesn't matter whether it's an anthology, prequel, sequel, spin-off. Give me more, please. And if they're standalones, let them be in the same universe, pretty please (so again, a series, hehe).

8. one project at a time or always juggling 2+

My brain is incapable of holding onto 1 project at a time. I manage to scribble some new ideas which can't make it to the final cut...so I use them as a side material for a future project *oh, yeah, this is big brain time*

9. one award winner or one bestseller

I would be okay even if my books didn't win an award at all. Awarding a book for something or having it labelled as a bestseller sounds alien to me. Like, I just want to share my ideas and my passion with others. My intention isn't to collect those awards like wings of insect. I'll be happy if these stories bring a smile to someone. Or a tear because they developed a bond to a character. Not because the characters are 'relatable'. But because they see an idea or a virtue, the emotion behind each action.

10. fantasy or sci-fi

Sci-fi is alright but I've leaned more towards the fantasy genre since my childhood. So fantasy! <3

11. character or setting description

I dare to say that I'm pretty good at describing but at the same time I'm also character-driven. This will sound slightly unfair. However, I'll cheat on this one and go with 'these two are on a par' (you're gonna forgive me with the cheat? XD )

12. first or final draft

13. love triangle in everything or no romantic arcs

I'm not a huge fan of romance and I usually seek out books that contain little to know romance. However, I must admit that in my writings there, indeed, is a romantic...quadrangle. Because if one suffers, then let them suffer all. Now on the more serious note, I'm not sure whether it would be even counted as a romantic quadrangle since it's much more complicated (one of them hasn't ever even been 'the player in the game' - it's just a lie he chooses to live in).

14. constant sandstorm or rainstorm

Rainstorms in the real life. They bring a truly pleasant atmosphere, kind of relaxing one. Sandstorms mostly in the stories as they bring a nice opportunity for truly unnerving, terifying and/or disturbing scenes.

Pro-abortion and a jerk about it is a pre-interaction block on sight for me. Those 3edgy5u people in the notes? I barely see them anymore because I've blocked so many.

I'll extend a bit of space to people who are polite. But to be pro-abortion at all is a critical fail in both compassion and logic and I only have so much patience for that.

I think we need to normalize ending relationships with pro aborts. I know this sounds extreme but if they don't value the lives of sweet innocent little babies then they don't value your life either

I actually think it's super important to create relationships with pro-aborts because we want to change people's minds on this issue and that's never going to happen if we separate ourselves and make it an us v them issue.

Okay, since I found this on DeviantArt, let’s look at more of the pictures of this OC she has. And some weird fanfiction things???

Kyandie-chan was overcome with joy after making some new nakama. She was always abused by her mother, and her father ignored her mother’s abuse.

She never felt loved, so friends are all she has. Fairy Tail is her home now and she would die to protect her nakama!!

This is good and fine, but why Fairy Tail? She could go to any other guild other than the most destructive guild in Fiore. Just saying.

Also, why is she pulling a Lucy? She was literally a victim of borderline emotional abuse from her father, who payed zero attention to her. This is magnified in the rice ball scene from Lucy’s birthday back in one of the season one arcs. He literally hit it out of her hand when she gave it to him.

As you may know, Kyandie-chan was abused as a child ): She’s still abused! Her mother hits her whenever she sees her, but Kyandie-chan loves her to much to protect herself.

That’s... sad. And not a good thing. Do not put that in a cheerful light. Child abuse is not edgy. It ruins lives.

Her uncle also abused her!

Now, whenever she uses too much magic, an evil aura takes over her and she becomes stronger and really scary!

That isn’t how magic works. If you use too much magic in Fairy Tail, you run out of Magic Power. Unless you’re Natsu, who can eat fire. Or Wendy, or Gajeel, or any dragon slayer, but that’s beside the point. She basically has the same magic as Mirajane/Elfman/Lisanna and sort of Evergreen, and they don’t have an element they can consume to replenish their Magic Power.

This is because of the curse, but she is afraid to hurt her friends.

The edge is real.

Still, if you hurt her nakama or make her mad, she can’t be stopped!

This cliché kills me a bit each time it’s used.

Also, this is basically Natsu.

She becomes insane and will kill you in an instant!

Okay why was she even in the games? And another thing, Sting and Rogue had more pressing issues than some random girl from a RIVAL guild. Rogue almost didn’t talk, and Sting was way to arrogant to pay much attention to, as I said, some random girl.

Rogue was kind of having an existential crisis involving his evil future self. He would also have no reason to comfort some random girl.

Is it wrong to expect substance from music in the alternative/punk scene?

The crap thing about becoming successful and/or genuine with a certain type of subgenre, whether it’s pop punk, post hardcore, or metalcore, is that, soon after, a lot of lyrically and musically inferior bands come out to cash in on the trend. 

Enter Makeout from Rhode Island. Formed out of the ashes of generic but musically superior post hardcore band Like Monroe, it makes sense that they’ve written with 5SOS’ Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood as Makeout sounds like a 5SOS ripoff that’s trying to be edgier. The key word is “trying”. They're about as edgy as a 13-year-old wearing eyeliner, listening to Brand New, and claiming “It’s not a phase, Mom!” 

Take the song “Secrets”. One of three singles from upcoming album “The Good Life”, there’s little to like about it other than an oddly specific but creative insult that says: “go choke on a hot dog from 7-11”. I love a good angry song as much as the next person but I can think of four songs off the top of my head that are lyrically and musically more creative than the tripe that this song is. 

The aforementioned Brand New has one of my favorites called “Seventy Times 7”, I Prevail has “Already Dead”, and Set It Off has both “Hypnotized” and “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing”, “Seventy” has so many “holy shit, did he really just say that?” moments that you have to listen to the song 3 more times just to get the full effect. Some of my favorites include “So don't apologize. I hope you choke and die” and “So, is that what you call a getaway?/Tell me what you got away with/Cause I've seen more spine in jellyfish/I've seen more guts in 11-year-old kids/Have another drink and drive yourself home/I hope there's ice on all the roads/And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt/And again when your head goes through the windshield/And is that what you call tact?/You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back/So let's end this call, and end this conversation...” 

The lyrics are also self-aware: “As if it happening wasn’t enough, I gotta go and write a song to remind myself how bad it sucked”. 

There isn’t a smidge of self-awareness to find anywhere in any of the stuff I’ve heard so far from Makeout. 

“Already Dead”, “Hypnotized”, and “Wolf in...” are bound to make the listener say, “well, damn, who pissed y’all off?” with lyrics like “I’d pull the trigger but you’re already dead/if I could bring you back to life/I’d kill you again” and “Wanna add a habit and light about 30 cigarettes? (You should)/You’re only mad about the fact that I put a light to you/basically tracing paper when all we see is right through you!” and finally, “If I could kill you, I would, but it’s illegal in all 50 states. Having said that, burn. in. HELL.” 

The music in these songs also creates a foreboding atmosphere what with the hammering drums, angry vocals, and dark sounding guitars. 

“Secrets” is so inexcusably juvenile that you’d think a group of 12-15 year olds wrote it, but no, the members of Makeout are 20+. In other words, they’re old enough to know better and should know better, especially with such big names as super producer John Feldmann and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker working with them. There’s nothing musically enjoyable about it either as it’s acoustic strumming with no variation during the whole song.  The cringefest continues for two more minutes after the hot dog line with lyrics like “...’all the money I spent on Sephora while I was on tour and you were with Kevin No more Nobu on my bill, you broke bitch” and “You blew it with your bullshit, you fucking whore/And every time I think of you I'm sick/And I bet you still think that you're the shit”. This is insultingly bad writing and it makes me angry that they exploit every bad millennial stereotype in order to be relatable: “I stayed awake watching porn on my iPhone/It's almost like I don't need you/I wish I knew it was easy as this then it wouldn't have taken me this long to leave you/Postmates me some sushi almost got me feeling human/Sugar daddy, I bet you already got a new one/I'm a do my best to make sure your life stay in ruins/And everybody knows that you're a bitch, say I won't do it.” 

This exploitation continues if you take a look at the track list for “The Good Life”:

Their first single, “Crazy”, came to my attention when it was on my Spotify playlist, Release Radar. It’s also the only one of Makeout’s singles that won’t have you scrambling for the skip button. It’s catchy and bouncy enough to jam to if you don’t listen to the lyrics too closely. There are less cringe moments than on “Secrets”, but there’s still at least two: “You’ll be out all night then you sleep all day/Gettin' way too high, but I’m fuckin' with it anyway/Maxin’ out my cards when I just got paid/Went and crashed my car/It’s the same shit just a different day!” and “Every time you’re sexin’ me/Feel like I’m about to lose it girl you’re fuckin’ deadly...” 

“Ride It Out” is as generic as it gets when it comes to songs about dysfunctional relationships: backing vocals crooning “whoa-oh-oh”, slow, major chord opening, and equally as generic lyrics. 

Says the chorus: “Don't let this burn out/just leave your guard down Cause when I dream about you here I wanna ride it out (ride it out)/Know when you fall down/I'll have my arms out/’Cause when you're lying next to me I wanna ride it out (ride it out)...” So romantic. Every girl’s or guy’s dream words (said with extreme sarcasm): “This is basically a shitty situation but I’m too stubborn to let it go.” 

The song continues with this: “Breathe you in/The nights we shared I'd like to live again/Seemed like seconds that would never end/Can we pretend?” 

The listener is then treated to another unbelievably juvenile lyric: “Stop the clock/Draw our futures in the pavement chalk/Stretch the moments when we lock our eyes/And feel the light again...” The second and third graders I work with LOVE pavement chalk. i think that says everything. In somewhat related and hilariously ironic news, their Genius lyrics page doesn’t have a picture of the band, just a silhouette of a baby crawling on the floor.
