As an Endometriosis sufferer, I wish vagina catheters existed.
No more pads, Tampons and menstrual cups are no goes due to cramping and a tilted cervix. No more period underwear which after Day 3 start to cause chaffing.
Just, stick a tube up there, attach a small bag which I can strap to my leg or even lower belly. No more 'I've probably got a couple extra hours left out of this pair/pad' to then find out, you did not. It'd be efficient and you could wear whatever undies you wanted.
Bonus: And then when the next condensending doctor/gynecologist tells you it can't be that bad and no-one with a uterus bleeds that much, you can throw the full bag from one cycle onto their desk and go "Wanna bet?"

Honey almond cake (basbussa)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ingredients Lists
Cake
3 eggs
80g sugar
100g molten butter
100g almond powder
250g semolina
3 tbs orange blossom water
Syrup
300g honey
350ml water
50ml orange blossom water
Instructions
Cake
Put some water in a pan, and in a bowl (in metal preferrably), put the eggs and the sugar.
Put the water in the pan to a boil & then reduce the heat so it is steaming but not boiling.
Place the bowl over the water, and beat the eggs & sugar until it becomes really fluffy.
After that you can take the eggs off the stove, place everything in a stand mixer, and whisk at max speed for a few minutes (you can do it without the stand mixer but it'll take a long time).
Add in the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Pour in a cake pan and cook at 180°C for 45min.
Take it out of the oven, let it cool down a bit, and remove the cake from the mold, and place in deep-ish plate.
Syrup
Put the water & honey together in a sauce pan, and put to a simmer.
Let it simmer for 10min.
Add the orange blossom water & mix well.
Pour slowly the syrup over the cake. It is a very thirsty cake, it will easily abosrb the honey syrup.
If the cake is fully saturated in syrup and cannot absorb anymore, then it's perfect, and no need to add more syrup.
NB
You can replace the honey with sugar but it'll be less tasteful.
The cake mold I use can be found on Amazon & Temu if you desire make it look like a honeycomb as well.
If the egg beating is too complicated, one can replace all of this with 10g of chemical yeast (baking soda) & 125g of unsweetened yogurt.

Cooking like a Sailor - New England Clam Chowder
However, a warm savory steam from the kitchen served to belie the apparently cheerless prospect before us. But when that smoking chowder came in, the mystery was delightfully explained. Oh, sweet friends! hearken to me. It was made of small juicy clams, scarcely bigger than hazel nuts, mixed with pounded ship biscuit, and salted pork cut up into little flakes; the whole enriched with butter, and plentifully seasoned with pepper and salt. - Moby Dick
Tumblr media
What Herman Meville describes here is a very famous New England dish - the clam chowder. A chowder is "a soup or stew of seafood (such as clams or fish) usually made with milk or tomatoes, salt pork, onions and other vegetables". Whilst there are different types of chowder, clam chowder is undoubtedly the best known. The definition of chowder varies depending on the part of the country, but most contain clams, potatoes, onions and some form of pork. Some use milk or another type of broth, but this type of dish was very popular on board ships where it was cooked and served in different ways. According to Savouring Gotham: A Food Lovers Companion to New York City, it is believed that New England chowder was introduced to the region by French, Nova Scotian or British settlers and became a common dish in the region around 1700. The chowder grew in popularity over the years and, according to What's Cooking America, was served in Boston as early as 1836 at Ye Olde Union Oyster House (the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the country).
But let's get to the recipe so you can cosy up at home with your copy of Moby Dick and enjoy a nice serving of clam chowder.
What do you need: 1 small onion 1 kilogram of salted pork 2 medium potatoes 1 1/2 cups of water 1 tin with about 200 grams of clams 1 bottle with about 350ml clam juice
1/8 teaspoon of pepper 1 1/2 cup of milk
To prepare:
cut the meat into pieces of about 2.5c and brown in a pan over a medium heat. Then set aside.
chop the onions and fry them in the pan, in the meantime cut the potatoes into small pieces and add them to the onions, cover with water and cook until the potatoes are soft.
add the clams and their juice and season with pepper. Cook over a medium heat until they are steaming.
Add 1 1/2 cups of milk. Heat over a medium heat for 5 minutes.
Add the meat and serve. Best eaten with ship's biscuits or fresh bread, if available.
Enjoy your meal.

WIP Wednesday
Welp, it feels weird posting this today, but I feel like being able to create, to make with my hands, is one of the things keeping me sane right now. So I'm sharing WIP (that's nearly complete), thanks for the tag @rebel-held and @burntheedges! It's not a written WIP though, but a ceramics WIP :P
I've been working on a line of tall and short tumblers/cups and the latest draft that came out of the reduction kiln makes me happy. Can't wait to wrap my hands around it when it's filled with something warm/hot to drink this fall/winter. It's decently sized and can probably hold ~12 fl. oz./350ml.
Tumblr media
I might adjust the rim a little bit (slightly more flared out) on the next iteration, but it's good enough to do the little final touches and include it for sale in the market I'll be at later this month.

31.05.24 UTRZYMANIE WAG1 dzień 456. Limit +/- 2100 kcal.
Wybrane posiłki:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
***
Dziś trzy osoby na zmianie. Głównie staliśmy i liczyliśmy klepki na suficie. Siostra koleżanki akurat rodziła dziecko, więc wszyscy czekaliśmy na narodziny bobasa. Bobas urodził się przed 12:00. Brawo dla bobasa 😉.
***
I tak miną dzień. Dziś sesja AD&D prosto z roboty do domu bo już tam ekipa czeka. Także dobrej nocy wam życzę!
***
Aaaa... Ten napój z Atomowką jadalny. Nawet niezły trochę smakowało to jak zimna, słodka macha... Nic nadzwyczajnego, ale też był zaskakująco nie-obrzydliwy 🤔

Tldr; i need help affording end of life care for one of my dogs. you can help by sharing this post and donating what you’re able to (more info below image). thank you <3
Tumblr media
(image description; a red dog with pointed ears is resting his head on the lap of his owner and looking in to the camera)
one of my dogs has been sick recently and when we took him to the vet we found out that it’s a lot worse than we realized. within the last month he’s accumulated fluid in his abdomen and chest from a mass in his liver. we tested his stool + urine, did blood work + x rays, and scheduled an ultrasound to see if there’s any chance of it being operable. they drained over 350ml of fluid from his abdomen and put him on a diuretic + pain meds to help keep him comfortable. we won’t know for certain until after he has an ultrasound but the prognosis isn’t very good either way. it’s very likely that he’ll continue to fill up with fluid until he goes in to organ failure from the masses and we were told he only has a few months left.
I’m trying to be strong for him and give him the best chance that we can but it will require some serious intervention and management. We’re adjusting his diet and adding some supplements along with his meds and praying that it buys him more time. Even if they are able to operate there’s still a good chance that it could grow back…
But I’m holding out hope for his recovery and asking for all of the help that i can get. We have a shih tzhu that’s older than him and we were able to get her heart condition stabilized so much that she went from being a candidate for euthanasia to having a normal sized heart (it was so enlarged when we got her that it was pushing her trachea out of place), no murmur, and is very well managed with meds. I’ve depended on Vin for so much and for so long that he will always be a part of my life.
I’m just asking for any help that we can get. We’re in the process of filing for bankruptcy so we don’t have any credit cards to fall back on. We’re supported by my husbands single income as I struggle to find a part time job that can accommodate my disability. We were able to get a discount on our last visit because we receive food assistance but it still came to just under $400 ($381 to be exact). It’s a good deal for the amount of services that we received but it’s money that we were setting aside for rent.
Tumblr media
(Image description; a cropped image of a bank statement that reads “At Humane Society Of, [redacted] On [Redacted] From Card number [Redacted]” and a charge for $381.15 labeled as Processed)
Our next visit is going to cost a little bit more than our last as the ultrasound is from a team that travels to the clinic. We were quoted around $412 for the next visit but it may be more if he needs fluid drained again… not counting prescription food, meds, or supplements, we’re already down over $800+ and that’s just for diagnostics and early stages of treatment.
It’s an embarrassing position to be in but the reality is that I’m struggling to keep up as it is. I really appreciate anyone who shares this post and/or donates to help us cover the costs of his medical expenses. I’ll make sure to update if I’m able to find a job, especially if I can get in at a clinic for discounted treatment (I have a history of vet assisting)

Ways you can help;
1. Share this post !
i totally understand if you aren’t able to give any money and i don’t want you to feel obligated to. sharing does help even if you don’t have a lot of followers
2. you can donate money for Vin’s recovery in the following ways;
- Paypal @ ReyOfTheLight
- Venmo @ rey-fillback
- cashapp $reyfillback

hi! tysm for your answer 🥺 i looked up "rapid desperation" online and based on my own understanding, this is how it works:
1. drink the same specific amount of water every 15 mins within an hour (you can pee within that 1 hour).
2. after that first hour, you should continue doing it but this time, the hold starts. bathrooms are not allowed.
after this, what shall i do next? do i just keep drinking until i can't hold it anymore? or should i set a goal (for example, wait for 2 hours until i can finally pee)?
thank you so much for helping a beginner out! 💗 also looking forward to more of your blogs
- 🩰
the rapid desperation approach i've seen and used a variant on myself is:
drink at least a glass (350ml/12oz or about that) every hour. this works best if you start this at least an hour or two before the hold, and pee as normal. this part basically gives your kidneys the heads-up that they're gonna be moving water fast bc you keep drinking it.
then do what you're implying—drink a glass every 15 minutes for a hour during which you can pee regularly
after that, you're holding. continue drinking at 15 minute intervals, and keep going until you lose control—the idea behind rapid desperation is that it makes this part go quickly because you've told your body to make pee faster, essentially.
this takes more planning than just like. not peeing for a long time. but it can get some interesting results. i would honestly recommend you try a couple regular holds before you go for rapid desperation, making sure not to go past the point of pain (discomfort is fine but pain you have to be careful about), because rapid desperation is one of the easier ways to have to worry about electrolyte balance (salt/potassium stuff) if you do it way too hard or way too fast. that said, i mentioned it because you were asking for specific challenges and it's a very fun one, just as long as you listen to your body.
remember, your safety comes before anything else—holding is good fun but it's important to learn what your body can and can't do, and to listen when it gives you signs to stop. you're very unlikely to hold so long you seriously hurt yourself, because the body usually gives up trying to hold it in before that's likely. but in rare cases you can experience water toxicity or overwork the muscles around your bladder if you go way too hard right out of the gate and don't listen to your body. try not to hold two days in a row when you're first starting out, and give yourself longer breaks of at least a few days between intense holds (where you actually lose control or get really close) to give your bladder and your muscles time to recover.
ok. that's the safety lecture over. it's not really that risky a kink, i just really wanted to stress how important listening to your body is when holding.
if you haven't done any holds yet, my first recommendation would be to drink liquids as normal, maybe slightly more than normal, and wait until they catch up to your bladder—eventually, if you keep drinking normally, you won't be able to hold any longer and will begin leaking or even wet yourself. even getting close to this is really thrilling. coffee/tea and other diuretics help get you more desperate, too. i typically wait until i'm right on the edge of wetting and then either go to the bathroom or (if i have the situation to) keep holding until i lose control. setting a timer that's a little overambitious usually also works for me because i tend to have a bit more bladder strength than i assume... but i've also been recreationally holding it for a pretty long time, all things considered.
thank you for reaching out! i hope my answers are helpful. i'm glad you enjoy my posts—might do a hold tomorrow or the next day or something, and it seems folks have been submitting anons for bladder control (which i love!!) so there will no doubt be more posts on the way.
i'll be asleep for a while once i post this, but feel free to send in any other questions you have via ask or dm! and of course, i always welcome talking about holds/experiences in my inbox!
