syndrome from incredibles, Thanos in the comics, mad hatter from Batman, tighten from Megamind, frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame, Red Hulk, parasite from superman and Ozai all of these villains are pathetic but they work for some reason I cannot place. A lot of stories try and write villains that are pathetic but also scary and it doesn't work- I love Starscream he can be an amazing character (he can be sympathetic or a straight up monster he can be lame but still threatening etc) and I like most versions but God can writers screw him up and he can fall flat (i love tfp i swear but god i hate their starscream! He just didn't work for me! Megatron and knockout are cool tho) Belos for some reason doesn't work for me at all- I know he should be scary while the fandom is wrong about him being a colonizer/cult leader/a dictator (he's not stop using words you dont understand the meaning of)and how insane it is that he's in a kids show (watch more cartoons there's villains darker than him) he's still trying to commit genocide and he's abusive and he's at his core got very little depth or complexity- he's really just an isekai character gone wrong- a pathetic guy with a hero complex and emotional baggage who becomes a villain- but he just didn't work for me. Neither does Jacob Hopkins- he's just Ronaldo from SU if he was written to be a straight up hate sink. I'm a lesbian latina with autism and was raised with a different sect of christan beliefs from him- I know historically this guy would have murdered me and i know he should work but something about him didn't stick the landing! The main thing I think about with belos isn't 'wow this guy is a great villain' it's 'can y'all stop being weirdly ableist toward this old man' or 'why do so many of y'all wanna fuck this man he's ugly' and dont get me started on mcu villains - their version of the mandarin, she-hulk's dumb men rights activists on reddit (seriously that's the scariest villain you can come up with? Like revenge porn is evil but really? I don't like the term man-baby- I have personal issues with how the term has been used in ableist ways- but yeah erm man babies on reddit are the best you can do for a villain? That's freaking stupid) and OMG Sutur in Ragnarok was terrible etc etc- these villains all suck!

How do you write villains that are pathetic but still work? How do write villains who are at their core whiny insecure losers but still work as detestable threatening villains? Like marvel made a character whose whole thing was that he's an incel work but so many other stories fail to write that stuff. Part of me thinks it's because these stories are desperate to make their villain into a hate sink joke but still make them scary and it fails but Tighten and Red Hulk are right there and there's no way the writers weren't purposely writing hate sinks with them! And they work! Why doesn't belos?

How do y’all deal with a neighbor that hates your dog? I’ve lived in a double for a few years and one of the newest people that moved in hates Honey with a passion. Honey barked once in the backyard this morning around six when someone she’s never met went into a neighboring backyard to smoke a cigarette. I brought her in as soon as she started barking but this new neighbor texted me vitriol about how she can never sleep because Honey barks occasionally and that I shouldn’t use our shared backyard (the reason I moved to this place). I’ve never had a single neighbor complain about her before and the most she barks is like three separate barks throughout the night but l can almost always get her back in and quiet before she barks twice in a row. Leia can’t sleep through the night without going out but this neighbor expects them not to go out at all between 10pm and 10am.

#I’m at such a loss #advice #like I’ve been sitting outside with them when I take them out at night so she has less opportunities to bark but she’s a guard dog breed #it’s in her nature to bark #like I have no idea how to cater any more to this neighbor #she’s like why can’t you walk them instead of letting them in the yard #which 1. I’m in a house with a backyard for this reason and #2. honey has arthritis and her PT only wants her to go for one 5 minute walk a day right now and we have no front yard #3. is that walks give them the zoomies so they’ll wake her up that way #I feel like I’ve done a lot to try to keep them quiet at night but I have no idea how to deal with this chick #again everyone else who’s lived in that side of the double including her roommates have no problems with the dogs

Btw if you come on holidays and stay at an AirBnb instead of an actual registered hotel I hate you personally. Not "I hate the gentrification and touristic massification and the way we can't live in our homes and are forced to move away because of tourism" in an abstract way- No, not just that. I hate you.

#I'm from a seaside town that has become popular with tourists who come for the beach and the mediterranean climate #and the typical whitewashed walls of mediterranean coastal towns #in just a few years the average rent has gone up so much that now the average rent id #*is over 1000€ per month #one thousand!#that's a whole salary!#in the past 2 years they've been building a new neighbourhood. they've destroyed the vinyeards to make a new neighbourhood that will make #the town 1/3 bigger than it is. that's a lot. but all those houses are luxury houses with private swimming pools for rich foreigners (we #already have 2 private British schools high schools and college(in the british sense)/baccalaureate where their kids go and never have to #interact with locals. I teach some of those kids and they're very prejudiced against locals and very bigoted against the catalan language #(which ofc they never bother to learn)#there's a law in catalonia that says that for every certain amount of houses you build you are obligated to build a certain percentage of #affordable housing. so in this new neighborhood they built the bare minumum affordable housing which is still too expensive for us #and since there's so few of them everyone is competing to get them. the city hall and the bank have had to make an official competition for #them but you only classify if the renr would not be more than 1/3rd of your salary which is impossible. my cousins who are in their mid 30s #and have been working a good qualified job for 15 years (and their partners too) are considered too poor to be considered for the #affordable housing #everyone is having to move out to other cities away from their friends and family and current jobs. the only jobs left here soon will be #mostly directed at tourists #and the only way to continue living here if you're a normal person and not rich is if you're an only child who one day might inherit the #parents' house #but we look around at what's happening in nearby cities and we see the next step which will be airbnb taking the houses that are left #in many places (I've posted about thia before) there aren't any flats for rent or sell anymore that isn't an airbnb #I'm still lucky in my town when compared to other places like Barcelona which are already full of the airbnb plague #actualitat #airbnb #tourism #touristic massification #gentrification

my third time starting a new minecraft world has been Much more successful than my first two times. on account of how i spawned in an area that kind of had things like iron and sheep and a coastline (I GET LOST VERY EASILY) and I didn’t get immensely frustrated trying to find Anything At All. I did however try to get two sheep near me, realize very quickly that that’s really hard without wheat, break both leads I got, dig a ton of stupid holes trying to get the sheep into it, kill one sheep out of pure choices in anger rage, then realize you can’t make a bed with two different colors of wool after I had already killed the sheep,

It’s my journal now #I’m having all these realizations like im 12 and discovering Minecraft for the first time. because i’ve Never Played This #I found an empty map and now the map is my home and now I can go ANYWHERE and find my way home (!!)#I found a huge cave with diamond and gold and redstone and lapis and died 3 times in it so there are 4 boats parked outside #I found a cat in a village and im going to BEFRIEND the cat because I fished up a nametag (and 36 cod)#I made a nether portal. I’m scared of it but I am in a forest! I think im under a different layer of forest #I now have 3 sheep and many cows and 3 chickens but no shears because they burned to a crisp in the huge cave #when I died. In lava a lot and burnt all my stuff to death #there’s a huuuge river network that I can feel confident navigating because the exit is next to my house #I have one (1) bookshelf and plan to make maaannny more because of my cows and sugarcane abundance #there’s more things to grow than just wheat and sugarcane there is Beet Root #there’s a bunch of treasure chests in these little underwater temples everywhere in the ocean (im afraid of getting lost in the ocean tho)#(but I can explore it with my map!!!)#one of these days when I find a pretty place I’ll build a second house. Mine is a beach house 3 turtles live there #idk #I also got a ton of gold and made gold boots? You’re supposed to do that when you go to the nether? Don’t remember why but I’ll find out #I also found a treasure map but I think the treasure is super far underwater..?#but im also slowly getting to the point where i don’t want to go any further by myself #it’s mostly fields and holes out here… maybe I’ll go across the ocean #I’ve never been an open world survival game girlie I am not a fan of resource games like don’t starve #but I like building. so. i do think the doctor at the flak house was great. he read rosie inside out. he tried a straight forward approach at first, pointing out that he went through something unbelievably traumatic, only to be met with a brick wall. he lets it go, and waits until rosie comes to him - which comes when they meet during that night, when neither of them can sleep, and we get to see rosie finally make himself even a little bit vulnerable. he comes into the conversation, guns blazing, assured that he needs to get the hell out of the flak house before he looses that rhythm... only for the doctor to reframe it so that its not just about what rosie needs, but also what rosie's crew needs too. and it's this conversation that propells rosie to reach out to his crew and take care of them, listening to thier stories and accept that he must stay.

#thinking abt rosie keeping himself very guarded aside from three instances:#1. at the flak house with the doctor; 2. with his CO when he explains why he's re-upping; 3. at the concentration camp #arguably 4. when he talks to croz about becoming a monster #like rosie's interesting bc hes very kind and sweet and takes care of his men #and overall has a very happy disposition which i think masks the fact that he is like a brick fucking wall when it comes to his own emotion #but i actually wish we got more dr hustan and rosie bc i feel like they would have a lot of deep discussions #rosie rosenthal #ch: rosie #robert rosenthal #tv: masters of the air #masters of the air #jack talks

#photo diary #image 1 - pretty sky!.. so many sky photos as always #2 & 3 - baby son keeping me company during one of my Sickness days where I kind of just sit on the floor in a blanket #for hours slowly sipping pedialyte and having applesauce and such lol #He likes to bite the squeezy apple sauce pouches.. and try to steal the heating pad #4. Sky again. lighter more scattered fluffy clouds.#5 - greeting card that I drew at someone's request so they could send it to their elderly family member lol.. It's like.. cats baking #in a kitchen I guess? My eternal curse.. being the number one lover of cats in the world yet still somehow barely having a grasp #on their anatomy so they always look ridiculous when I draw them. I have both drawn and looked at cats for my entire life basically #yet somehow those two things do not come together to make me a good cat artist.. alas..#6 - underpart of an outfit I did (and havent yet posted of course because of my evil backlog of onemillion drafted posts)#I took the main dress off the top but thought the underneath part looked cool on it's own as well #7 - more sky.#8 - Mushroom fettucini alfredo. steak. and grilled asparagus. A fun little meal for me though I can't remember the occasion. I think maybe #as a reward for getting my covid booster or something. Though I still feel it's not as much of a reward when I am personally cooking #everything myself at home gjhbjh.. so its like... I'm having to do quite a lot of labor which makes it feel less relaxing I suppose. but eh #a treat in some form. Still cheaper by overall cost than ordering from a restaurant - and also can be customized and prepared #exactly how I like - which is the point. I guess more I just wish I weren't the only cooking person in the house. Everyone could #take turns making special meals for each other rather than like.. ''hmm I feel like having a treat. suppose I shall spend an hour #making it all myself and then feel tired whilst eating it'' lol.. ANYWAY #9 - and then.. you guessed it..MORE sky pictures!!! This time pinky bluey and so on.. huzzah..#A very sky heavy entry into the photo diaries I suppose #The sky in the 1st/7th image is jsut very ethereal seeming to me. something about the way the lighting is behind the clouds. It's #transportive. An interesting sky will make me feel like many other places in time or things I've seen in dreams or something. #this is a great way to distract urself from Arlecchino. (obviously (it works great))#technically there are a lot more kids in the house of the hearth than just those 3 #but I cannot put them in the teapot nor do I know them so #anyway this has been a fun project but I’m starting to run out of things to do #I’ve already made a bedroom for Arlefuri. a boudoir for Furina where she can work on her projects and things #I made a bedroom for the kids (I didn’t like the idea of separating their bedrooms since they’re all so close)#(I did give Fremi a little privacy nook cause I feel like he needs alone time. so does Lynette but we all know your twin doesn’t count)#the living room has Lyney and Lynette’s gift set as well as Fremi’s in it #I made Arlecchino an office. for Business TM #and I think the last major thing I need to do is rearrange the dining room.#right now it’s just Furina’s giftset but I kinda wanna downsize it #that way it can be a dining room and kitchen #cause like. a family dining room doesn’t need to be that big #if we had all the house of the hearth kids here we’d definitely need that much room + probably more #but we’ve got a family of 5 here they’ll be fine with 1 big dining table #ofc I already have everyone’s outdoor giftsets set up too #and one day Arlecchino’s giftsets will be added but #I don’t know what they are yet so #Arlecchino #Furina //#Arlefuri #Lyney //#Lynette //#Freminet //#Genshin Impact //

#personal #keeping it fun and funky fresh #our house in the middle of our street #i am learning so many skills. my hands hurt.#my left palm is deeply bruised from i think pressing the outlet into its socket? i caught my finger with the box cutter Just a Tiny Bit #and i tried to unscrew the faucet with my hands which should've theoretically been possible but ended up putting like. dents. in me.#ended up using my pipe wrench with a washcloth as padding #also the omnipresent wrist pain Naturally #the tension between 1) i'm spending a lot of money on supplies to do this stuff #2) i still don't have a job #3) i'd be spending More money on hiring someone to do this (which i'd have to do if i were working; wouldn't have energy)
