Galileo's Europa Image Credit: NASA, JPL-Caltech, SETI Institute, Cynthia Phillips, Marty Valenti
Explanation: Looping through the Jovian system in the late 1990s, the Galileo spacecraft recorded stunning views of Europa and uncovered evidence that the moon's icy surface likely hides a deep, global ocean. Galileo's Europa image data has been remastered here, with improved calibrations to produce a color image approximating what the human eye might see. Europa's long curving fractures hint at the subsurface liquid water. The tidal flexing the large moon experiences in its elliptical orbit around Jupiter supplies the energy to keep the ocean liquid. But more tantalizing is the possibility that even in the absence of sunlight that process could also supply the energy to support life, making Europa one of the best places to look for life beyond Earth. The Juno spacecraft currently in Jovian orbit has also made repeated flybys of the water world, returning images along with data exploring Europa's habitability. This October will see the launch of the NASA's Europa Clipper on a voyage of exploration. The spacecraft will make nearly 50 flybys, approaching to within 25 kilometers of Europa's icy surface.

Washington Post Says Jeff Bezos Banned it From Endorsing Kamala Harris
DIES IN DARKNESS...
Legendary ex-editor Marty Baron is calling the move “cowardice.”
Corbin Bolies
Media Reporter
Updated Oct. 25 2024 3:18PM EDT / Published Oct. 25 2024 12:53PM EDT
Jeff Bezos ordered The Washington Post to censor its endorsement of Kamala Harris, the newspaper’s own reporters said Friday.
The billionaire Amazon founder stopped the publication of an endorsement of the Democratic candidate which its editorial board had already written, the paper reported.
The dramatic move was called “cowardice” by its Pulitzer Prize-winning former editor, Marty Baron. One of the paper’s star reporters, Ashley Parker, called it “a new type of October Surprise.”
The paper’s CEO Will Lewis—not its owner, Bezos—announced the endorsement ban in a note to readers, saying it was an attempt to “provide through the newsroom non-partisan news for all Americans, and thought-provoking, reported views from our opinion team to help our readers make up their own minds.”
“We see it as consistent with the values The Post has always stood for and what we hope for in a leader: character and courage in service to the American ethic, veneration for the rule of law, and respect for human freedom in all its aspects.”
It came days after The Los Angeles Times’ editorial board was blocked from endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris by its billionaire CEO Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, plunging the newsroom into chaos over its owner’s meddling in its editorial affairs.
In D.C., Lewis said the paper was “returning to our roots of not endorsing presidential candidates,” citing the paper’s distant past, which it abstained from presidential endorsements.
But that era ended in 1976 when it endorsed Democrat Jimmy Carter for president, which Lewis said was for “understandable reasons.” “But we had it right before that, and this is what we are going back to,” Lewis wrote. (The Post last abstained from endorsing a presidential candidate in 1988, saying at the time it could not reach “a threshold of confidence in and commitment” in a candidate that year.)
LA Times Chaos After Billionaire Forbids Harris Endorsement
BREAKING THE NEWS
Josh Fiallo
Lewis' note set off an explosive reaction, led by Baron, the highest-profile living former leader of the paper of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.
“This is cowardice, a moment of darkness that will leave democracy as a casualty,” Baron, who shepherded the paper during Donald Trump’s first presidency wrote on X. “Donald Trump will celebrate this as an invitation to further intimidate The Post’s owner, Jeff Bezos (and other media owners). History will mark a disturbing chapter of spinelessness at an institution famed for courage.”
According to NPR, which first broke the news of the Post’s decision, opinion editor David Shipley informed staff on Friday morning about the decision. Opinion among staff, according to NPR, was “uniformly negative.”
Billionaires, Secrets, Zegnas: Will Lewis’ Thirst for Power
DON’T STOP ME NOW
Harry Lambert
“The message from our chief executive, Will Lewis—not from the Editorial Board itself—makes us concerned that management interfered with the work of our members in Editorial,” the Post’s union leadership said in a statement.
“According to our own reporters and Guild members, an endorsement for Harris was already drafted, and the decision to not to publish was made by The Post’s owner, Jeff Bezos. We are already seeing cancellations from once loyal readers. This decision undercuts the work of our members at a time when we should be building our readers’ trust, not losing it.”
Lewis’ nearly yearlong tenure at the Post has been marred by controversy after controversy. Initially welcomed by Post employees as an affable changemaker with ambitions to reinvent the paper, the staff turned on him after he booted the paper’s executive editor, Sally Buzbee, for two former colleagues; reportedly tried to block the paper from reporting on his alleged role in covering up a U.K. phone-hacking scandal; insinuated the paper’s editorial staff was responsible for its business failings; and nearly installed a former U.K. colleague whose ethically questionable reporting practices eventually came to light.
Lewis’ decision came days after Soon-Shiong blocked the Times’ impending endorsement of Harris. Soon-Shiong claimed he allowed the paper to present analyses of the “POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE policies by EACH candidate” to present “clear and non-partisan information to its readers,” but the editorial board refused.

Before I get to the next poll I thought I'd give you the results of the last one where we asked "what's your favorite color for women's clothing?" The results: violet/purple 26%; black 22%; reds 22%; blues 18%; greens 7%; pinks 4%. The rest of the colors received no votes (nobody was for white, surprising).
The next question is "What is your age group?" It helps us decide what to post, just like the color question. We wouldn't ask you that without giving you our ages (though we have no way of connecting an answer in a poll to anybody). So, from oldest (me, Marti) to youngest of those who have appeared here or whose names we mention frequently (giving ages turned or will turn in 2024): Marti, 74; Gina (no photos), 68; Wendy (no photos), 68; Lacy (no photos) 54; Michelle, 48; Risa, 46; Dana, 44; Maria, 43; Gail (no photos, yet), 42; Lin, 42; Chelsea, 42; Becca, 41; July, 36; Emily, 35; Vera, 34; Daphne (no photos), 34; Willow, 33; Mirren (no photos), 31; Mandy, 30; Jerri (no photos), 28; Roxy, 27; Kaatje, 25; Zin, 22; Hannah, 18. (Hopefully I didn't leave out any of the ladies.)
Now, it's your turn. Which age group are you in?

mcfly july 2024 || 🌲 || day 25 Tennis Match
Marty was trying to figure out this tennis thing with his parents. It was driving him crazy.
“Why do they play tennis?”
Sure, his parents did very little together in the Twin Pines timeline, but how, in the Lone Pine timeline, had they become tennis people? Nothing in their personalities even suggested they were sports people, let alone tennis people.
“They helped me when I was in high school,” Dave said. “Remember? Then they just sort of picked it up for themselves.”
Marty made a face when his brother disappeared behind the newspaper again.
“You played tennis in high school?”

Eddie Redmayne Says 'Willkommen' to Broadway in First Production Photos from Cabaret Revival (Exclusive)
'The Good Nurse' actor is starring as the Emcee alongside Gayle Rankin as the musical's leading lady Sally Bowles
By Sabienna Bowman Published on April 15, 2024 02:30PM EDT
Eddie Redmayne is ready to put on a show in the first photos from Broadway's Cabaret revival!
In PEOPLE's exclusive first look at the famed John Kander and Fred Ebb musical's return to the Great White Way,The Good Nurse actor, 42, suits up at as Kit Kat Klub's mercurial Emcee. With his jaunty green party hat, oversized brown cravat and black gloves, Redmayne is both intriguing and imposing as the fascinating character.
In another snap of the Emcee in action, Redmayne leaps into the air as several members of the cast dance around him during the show's iconic opening number, "Willkommen."
See Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin in First Rehearsal Photos for Broadway's Cabaret Revival (Exclusive)
Additional photos from the show shine the spotlight on House of the Dragon actress Gayle Rankin in the role of the vivacious nightclub singer Sally Bowles. In one compelling photo, she seems poised to take the stage with a microphone in hand as she's surrounded by ensemble members during the song, "Mein Herr."
Another picture finds Rankin in a ruffly white dress while holding a prop cigarette as she performs the song "Don’t Tell Mama."
The Cabaret revival is being directed by Rebecca Frecknall, who helmed the West End version, which also starred Redmayne. Previews began April 1 at the August Wilson Theatre in New York City, with the show set to officially open on April 21.

Cabaret has long been a success both on the stage and screen. Based on John Van Druten’s 1951 play I Am a Camera, which in turn was adapted from the 1939 novel Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood, Cabaret first hit Broadway in 1966. It was later turned into the 1972 film of the same name starring Oscar-winner Liza Minnelli.
The musical tells the story of Sally, an ambitious English singer who starts up a relationship with American writer Clifford Bradshaw as he observes the eccentric characters who populate the Kit Kat Klub in Berlin. Set between World War I and World War II, the growing unrest beyond the club's doors is ever-present as the artists within express themselves through song.
It features a score by Kander & Ebb made up of a string of songs that have become musical theatre mainstays, like “Willkommen,” “Don't Tell Mamma,” “Mein Herr,” “Two Ladies,” “Tomorrow Belongs to Me,” “Money,” “Maybe This Time” and, of course, “Cabaret.”
Jennifer Lopez Visits the Kit Kat Club for Broadway Revival of Cabaret (Exclusive)
Redmayne, who also produces the Broadway revival, has long said that Cabaret “properly ignited” his love for theater, while playing the Emcee in a student production of the musical over 25 years ago.
In an October 2023 statement, he shared, "It now feels completely thrilling and a little surreal to be a part of Rebecca's truly unique vision of Masteroff, Kander, and Ebb's brilliance as it arrives on Broadway, where the piece has such a history."
In addition to Redmayne and Rankin, the rest of the principle cast is rounded out by Ato Blankson-Wood (Clifford), Steven Skybell (Herr) and Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth (Fräulein), as well as Natascia Diaz (Fraulein Kost and Fritzie); and Henry Gottfried (Ernst Ludwig).
The cast also includes, Gabi Campo (Frenchie), Ayla Ciccone-Burton (Helga), Colin Cunliffe (Hans), Loren Lester (Herman/Max), David Merino (Lulu), Julian Ramos (Bobby), MiMi Scardulla (Texas), Paige Smallwood as Rosie, and Marty Lauter (Victor) — also known as Marcia Marcia Marcia of RuPaul's Drag Race fame.
Tickets for Cabaret are on sale now.

The evolving dramatic universe centered around "NCIS" is hitting a major milestone: 1,000 combined episodes.
The April 15 episode of the original "NCIS" (9 EDT/PDT) will reach the millennial mark propelled by the "NCISverse" of shows that now spans from "NCIS: Hawaii" to "NCIS: Sydney," on CBS and Paramount+. Franchise stars from past and present were on hand for a February celebration during the filming of the episode, which features crossover stars Daniela Ruah (from now-defunct "NCIS: Los Angeles") and Vanessa Lachey (from "NCIS: Hawaii").
Two new upcoming shows – "NCIS: Origins" and the still-untitled spinoff led by Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo – were also represented at the party.
"Now it's like our own Marvel universe within 'NCIS,' which is the ultimate testament of the power of this show," says Rocky Carroll, who has portrayed Leon Vance on "NCIS" since 2008.
'NCIS' (2003 - )
"NCIS," also known as "The Mothership," is a spinoff of creator Donald Bellisario's naval legal show "JAG," which aired on NBC in 1995-96 and for nine more seasons (1997-2005) on CBS.
Notable characters: Mark Harmon, the "NCIS" cornerstone as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, left in 2021 after nearly two decades. Other departed original characters include Weatherly's Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo, who departed in 2016 after 13 seasons, Pauley Perrette's Abby Sciuto, exiting in 2018 after 350 episodes, and David McCallum's Donald "Ducky" Mallard (the veteran actor died last year).
"NCIS" has been network TV's most-watched drama for the last five seasons with a team that includes Carroll, Sean Murray (Timothy McGee), Brian Dietzen (Jimmy Palmer), Wilmer Valderrama (Nicholas Torres), Katrina Law (Jessica Knight), Diona Reasonover (Kasie Hines) and Gary Cole (Alden Parker).
Seasons: 21
How to watch: CBS (Mondays 9 EDT/PDT); Paramount+; Netflix (first 15 seasons).
'NCIS: Los Angeles' (2009-23)
Notable characters: Ruah's Kensi Blye and the star pairing of Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J, as G. Callen and Sam Hanna, respectively. Linda Hunt starred as Henrietta "Hetty" Lange and Eric Christian Olsen as Marty Deeks.
Seasons: 14
How to watch: PlutoTV, for purchase on iTunes.
Flavor: The first spinoff was an instant hit that played a crucial role in expanding the franchise "during its incredibly long run," says David Stapf, president of producer CBS Studios.
'NCIS: New Orleans' (2014-21)
Notable characters: Scott Bakula as Dwayne "King" Pride, CCH Pounder as Loretta Wade and Lucas Black as Christopher LaSalle.
Seasons: 7
How to watch: Paramount+, PlutoTV.
'NCIS: Hawai'i' (2021- )
Notable characters: Lachey became the franchise's first female and Asian American, lead as Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant of the Pearl Harbor Field Office. Supporting stars include Alex Tarrant (Kai Holman), Noah Mills (Jesse Boone), Jason Antoon (Ernie Malik), Tori Anderson (Kate Whistler) and Yasmine Al-Bustami (Lucy Tara). Sam, LL Cool J's LA transplant, moved to "NCIS: Hawai'i" in Season 3.
Seasons: 3
How to watch: CBS (Mondays at 10 EDT/PDT), Paramount+.
Flavor: Set in paradise with unforgettable island surroundings and many crimes intertwined with Hawaiian lore – with an added dose of Cool J. Stapf says the actor will continue "hopefully, forever, or as long as he wants to do it."
'NCIS: Sydney' (2023- )
Notable characters: Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann) heads the collaboration between the NCIS Sydney office and the Australian Federal Police led by Jim "JD" Dempsey (Todd Lasance). Originally conceived for Australian TV audiences but recruited to the American schedule during the Hollywood strike, "NCIS: Sydney" has proven its worth, fair dinkum, and was renewed for a second season in March.
Seasons: 1
How to watch:Paramount+
'NCIS: Origins' (CBS 2024-25)
Notable characters: Beloved leader Gibbs returns as a younger man for the franchise's prequel series, "NCIS: Origins," announced in March "The Hating Game" star Austin Stowell will play young Gibbs. "We weren't just casting Gibbs; we were casting a young Mark Harmon," says Stapf. "And Austin embodies it all."
Harmon, 72, will narrate and serve as executive producer. Sean Harmon, Mark's real-life son, who often played the younger version of Gibbs in flashbacks on "NCIS," will also serve as executive producer.
"Origins" follows young Gibbs as he fights for his place on the team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks. Kyle Schmid has been cast as the younger version of the Texan Franks (Muse Watson in "NCIS") who played a pivotal role in Gibbs' early career.
How to watch: Coming to CBS this fall.
Untitled Tony and Ziva spinoff (CBS)
Notable characters: Fans loved the special sizzle between agents Tony DiNozzo (Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote De Pablo, who left "NCIS" in 2013 after eight seasons). The couple, known as Tiva, announced their return in February for a European-set spinoff on Paramount+. No premiere date has been set, nor has an actor been cast to play the couple's young daughter Tali.
After Tony’s security company is attacked by terrorists, the new show features a family on the run through Europe.
How to watch: Coming to Paramount+
Flavor: Whatever the title, it's "NCIS: Tiva." In a statement, the two stars promised "an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears and laughter."

Luminat de luna plina in Fecioara – un moment de varf in casa carierei – Saturn va incepe o vizita care va dura trei ani in Pesti in Casa a Patra a caminului, familiei si a fundatiilor emotionale.
Soarele va sta in Pesti si in Casa Patru cea domestica pana pe 20 Martie, punand importanta pe casa, familie si radacini.
Simti nevoia de putina directie in cariera? Esti gata sa schimbi vitezele? Pe 7 Martie Luna Noua in Fecioara va straluci in Casa Zece a carierei si a succesului.
Ai muncit mult sa ajungi in acest loc deci marcheaza momentul!
Saturn intra in zodia Pesti pe 7 Martie

Today, Marty sat down with Ed Butowsky to discuss the real inflation numbers the Fed is hiding from Americans. They cover the cost-of-living increases that the CPI falsely shows by analyzing the Chapwood index. This ranges from higher food prices to higher energy costs. True Inflation data is much higher than most think, affecting all economic data, including real GDP growth.

Trading the Stage For An Off-Road Thrill In “Crank It Up” Video
Rising country star Ashley Wineland sets the stage as she unleashes a thrilling dirt bike race with the release of her latest music video “Crank It Up.” As the roaring engines echo against the backdrop of rugged terrain, Ashley’s electrifying performance mirrors the adrenaline-fueled thrill of off-road adventure. Known for her wild ride through heart-pounding performances, this high-energy video goes full throttle with elements of country and rock with her producer Marti Frederiksen, celebrated for his collaboration crossing all genres with some of the worlds best icons like Mick Jagger, Aerosmith, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Ozzy Osborne, and more. MUSIC VIDEO LINK HERE “Crank It Up,” written by Steven McEwan, who is known for his work with Chris Stapleton, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood; Marti Frederiksen, and Carrie Underwood showcases a new journey and musical adventure, reflecting on the genuine outdoor lifestyle she lives and breathes, particularly amidst the dusty Arizona landscape. Her deep connection to the desert environment adds a gritty authenticity to her sound, setting her apart as she leaves audiences craving more. Ashley says, “This music video is unlike any others I have done! I wanted to lean into the message “Crank It Up” delivers: jump into action and go live life! Filming this music video was like shooting an action film. Our stunt riders, Carson Millikan, Coehn Hamby, and John Sindle, are so talented and it was exhilarating to watch them work. Of course, I couldn’t let them have all the fun. I had my fair share of action on the dirt bikes and side-by-sides.” As Ashley blazed her own trail in the music industry and revs up her career, her roots are just as firmly planted in the Arizona dirt, giving listeners the authentic experiences of her outdoor country rock lifestyle. Ashley adds, “The racing community is so strong in Arizona. I am extremely grateful to Bobby White at Arizona Cycle Park for letting us take over the track for the day and bringing this vision to life. We would not have been able to execute this project without the help of many great folks in our racing community. I find being outdoors one of the greatest life-giving activities! I hope people watch this video and feel inspired to go outside, dig in the dirt, and do the things that make them feel like life is cranked up to the max!” Ashley continues on the road this summer across the US, driving her performances into top gear for audiences nationwide. What is a "Pedal Partner"?
PHAT Tuesday's 2023 & 2024 Pedal Partner: Teagan
In past emails I often mention my team's "Pedal Partner".
What Exactly is a "Pedal Partner"?
Pedal Partners are pediatric patients at the Jimmy Fund who are paired with PMC riders and teams. The teams ride in honor of their Pedal Partner and it is a reminder of "Why We Ride".
However it is more than just that. The teams often build relationships with the Pedal Partner families that go beyond the year that they are matched up.
It is also very important to the families themselves as the following 4 minute video highlights:
