Experiment #246: Test Subject "Foone B. Turing" was placed in a well lit room with a desk, ample writing implements, and paper. The subject was instructed to do whatever they felt like. A camera was placed to monitor the subject, and the subject was made aware of this fact.

After 4 hours in the experimental setting, the subject was released and interviewed about their actions during the experiment. They reported that they did some creative writing and then spent a while considering the implications of their work so far, so as to consider what could be written next. When asked to rank their enjoyment of the experience, they identified it as "SOMEWHAT POSITIVE", and explained while it was not an ideal situation, they enjoyed the distraction free writing environment and we're satisfied with the experiment.

When the camera footage was examined, it roughly corresponded to the subjects account.

They are seen to familiarize themselves with the writing implements and the environment for 0:45, writing for 0:37, and then the remaining time is filled with idle motions, looking into the distance, and occasional doodling.

When the notepad was examined after the completion of the experiment, it was found to contain assorted abstract shapes, spirals, grids, and a single line of text:

I opened my eyes and realized I was still in bed. Chan was nowhere to be seen. I felt a burning sensation in my arm.

I sat up and looked at the time.

"9 am?" I got out of bed and walked around the apartment. No trace of Chan.

I got no motivation to clean, but I feel the need to do something. I put on some music and started cleaning.

I ignored every feeling that I had as I started to clean more and more.

Once I was finished with the living room and kitchen it was 3 pm. The bedroom and the bathroom still needed to be done.

I looked at the kitchen and looks away again. "I'll eat later."

Later I meant 4 hours.

Within 4 hours I cleaned the whole apartment. And still, nothing heard from Chan.

I guess I really screwed up...

Once it turned 12 am I gave up. I send a text to Chan two hours ago, to ask if he ate and if he could come home, but he ignored it, all off it. 

I stood up form the couch and walked to the bathroom to take a quick shower and to clean the cuts.

I put the shower on and undress. Once the water hits my shoulders I felt slightly relaxed, but it all changed quickly as my thoughts take over. I moved to the ground, at this point sobbing...

This is my mom's vintage Kermit the Frog watch from the 90s. I cannot for the life of me find a single scrap of information about it anywhere online. The only result that confirms this watch even exists is a long dead listing without a price on an auction house website (apparently you can pay a subscription fee to see the price, but I'm not doing that). This watch isn't listed on the Muppets wiki with the othet pieces of the Kermit Collection, and it doesn't have any manufacturer info on it, just the copyright for the Henson company.

My mom has kept this watch in storage for years, I haven't seen it since the early 2000s, and I misremembered what condition it was in. I knew something was loose inside, and I thought one of the hands had snapped off, but it was actually the border of the mirror Kermit is looking into. I thought it was damaged beyond repair, but that's a super easy fix. Pop the glass off, glue it back into place, pop the back off, put in a new battery, good as new!

I have no clue who made it or when. This is the entire text on the back:

So I caught up. The way my friends were talking about it caused me to assume it was about a part of the trial. More specifically, for some reason, I thought that in 244-246, Sukuna was on trial for the attempted murders of Fushiguro Megumi and Gojo Satoru. I was ready to get caught-up, then witness a massive shitstorm, and had thus been putting off any Gojo analyses for the foreseeable future. The actual chapters are...contentious, at best, but for the usual reasons with Gege's narrative choices. So, glad to have been wrong, I guess.

Sometimes, you must laugh nervously when you're waiting to see new chapters after catching up, and your friends immediately try to get your attention regarding the latest chapter, as it comes out.

Most people actually believe naruto to be stupid but I disagree, I think he is quite intelligent in his own way. What do you think, why people think this way? just because he isn't smart academically which was probably because he didn't have much resources on his own to study (also he doesn't find study interesting)

I mean, you've said it. I agree with you. The text pokes quite a few jokes at Naruto's expense regarding his chronic confusion and lack of academic inclination, but it's clear that Naruto excels when it counts. His most significant gift, empathy, is reflective of his emotional intelligence, and shines through in his interactions with everyone from Inari to Gaara.

He's also very strategically gifted, whichever is where his status as the most unpredictable ninja comes into play. Even when he was at his weakest during the beginning of Shippiden, it was Naruto alone who was able to figure out Kakashi's weakness (Chapter 246).

And his battle ability is linked to his people skills. It's no coincidence that Naruto, who cared about his sensei's interests enough to gift him a book from his favorite series (Chapter 245), was the one to remember Kakashi's weakness. It's the narrative telling us that the reason Naruto is able to excel is because he pays attention to and learns from the people around him.

My favorite example of this comes from Naruto defeating the 3rd Raikage (Chapter 555) after listening to Killer Bee and deducing that A's weakness was himself.

The Economy of Ptolemaic Egypt

Ptolemaic Egypt rapidly established itself as an economic powerhouse of the ancient world at the end of the 4th century BCE. The wealth of Egypt was owed in large part to the unrivalled fertility of the Nile, which served as the breadbasket of the Ptolemaic Kingdom. Egypt's economy underwent numerous radical changes during the Ptolemaic period, including the introduction of Egypt's first official coinage, the cultivation of new crops, and the growth of international trade. Corrupt bureaucratic practices, droughts, military expenditures, and political unrest plagued the economy of the Ptolemaic dynasty as the kingdom went into a period of decline in the 2nd century BCE. Nevertheless, Ptolemaic Egypt remained one of the largest economies in the Mediterranean until the Roman conquest of Egypt in 30 BCE.

Managing the Egyptian economy

Instead of uprooting Egyptian tradition, the Ptolemaic dynasty incorporated pre-existing administrative practices when they assumed control of Egypt in the late 4th century BCE. Ptolemy II Philadelphus (c. 285 BCE – 246 BCE) laid the foundation of Ptolemaic economic policies by introducing new revenue and property laws and new taxes. Ptolemy II also began the distribution of 'instruction texts' describing ideal governmental behaviour to officials as an attempt to create some kind of bureaucratic standard.

The chief economic minister in Ptolemaic Egypt was the dioiketes, who was appointed by the ruling monarch to set Egypt's economic policies. All of the offices dealing with finances, agriculture, and record-keeping were under his auspices. As a matter of practicality, ancient Egypt was divided into administrative provinces known as nomes. At the nome level, officials dealt with municipal and village authorities to handle economic issues like land management, taxation, and the circulation of currency.

On the surface, Ptolemaic Egypt appears to be a highly organised bureaucracy, which early modern historians characterised as the product of a highly centralised despotic state. The Ptolemaic crown may have directed economic policies but these could only be enforced by local authorities who sought to increase their own power and prestige. To complicate the issue, the Ptolemaic government lacked a clear chain of command, and areas of responsibility frequently overlapped. The independent initiative of farmers and merchants should also not be discounted. The economy of Ptolemaic Egypt was therefore never the product of state-direction, but the result of overlapping fiscal, agricultural, and social influences. Sitta Von Reden in The Ancient Economy and Ptolemaic Egypt concisely summed this up

The transformation of a system into one based on coinage and contract, however, was not achieved by force or centralisation as previous scholars have argued; rather, it was a system carefully devised as a balance of state and local power, royal patronage and private initiative, as well as indigenous agrarian patterns and Greek innovation. (175)

Corruption plagued all levels of government and gave way to predatory bureaucratic practices. This condition persisted in spite of royal decrees forbidding the financial exploitation of Ptolemaic subjects by officials. As a result of the broken fiscal system, Ptolemaic rulers frequently began their reigns by providing blanket forgiveness on all debts owed to the government to help undo past damage from state corruption.

From the 3rd century BCE onwards, social and economic inequality caused uprisings and civil unrest, which further strained the Egyptian economy. Upper Egypt was reconquered during the reign of Ptolemy V (204 BCE – c. 180 BCE), but the effects of this insurrection rocked Egypt and prompted the Ptolemaic dynasty to reform many aspects of its rule.
