Back from work , a while ago and the go of the while was sufficient enough to register the work ..

It is to be done and done .. for when we say it's done and dusted - a rather obtuse phrase - where does the dust suddenly appear from .. I am not dusting the winter clothing as it gradually springs around us in the cold of the North and the tops .. no .. the quilts and the warms are now almost a constant even during the brightest Sun .. and the fog of the time obliterates the high rises even at an afternoon hour, until it is informed that it be not fog but pollution ..

Hi hi! :D Whenever I get ask about favorite dramas my perspective always seems to change as time goes by tbh! Here's an old ask from 2021 that included my favorite kdramas — but now I'm honestly really picky with what I call a "favorite" drama. Like yes, I still very much enjoyed past ones I called a favorite but if I had to put it in a category it'd be that I just enjoyed it a lot in the moment. If that makes any sort of sense 😭 For a drama to be a favorite I literally need to feel some sort of attachment to it. So if I would give a list of fave kdramas it would literally be like just one ngl 😅 But anyways I'll list kdramas that I enjoyed watching and would recommend giving a try! History5: Love in the Future Ep 2 Stray Thoughts

Last week we kicked off our return to the History franchise for a sci-fi outing. Our poor protagonist has been kicked into the future, and I am unsure if he's living in a fake life, or if he's somehow taken on someone else's life. Either way, I'm already significantly more invested in the side couple.

Idk if I ever mentioned but I started listening to Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata yesterday and finished it today. It's very short, exactly 3 hrs 22 mins, and I really really liked it

My favorite part of the book was how Keiko behaved and spoke and thought, because it felt really familiar. Stuff like mimicking others' behavior to "fit in" (speech patterns, fashion choices, etc.), and of finding ?comfort? in a set environment such as the convenience store. I don't know if it can be accurately called "comfort", because while it IS a set routine, something to base her entire life around, it is, at the same time, oppressive in the way that it becomes her whole world and dictates everything from her eating habits to her speech patterns.

Keiko says a lot that, in the convenience store, they are only convenience store workers. Not men or women or any other identifiable quality, just workers, and I found that an interesting way to view it because when it gets broken near the end of the book, she is very upset about it. Being upset when something you convinced yourself of (with basis, yes, but still not 100% true in practice), is broken, is very understandable, but the way that she became so agitated, didn't understand why everyone had changed, and kept insisting on following the convenience store routine, made the thought of her being autistic really solidify in my head.

Because she mimicks other people, doesn't understand most social cues (the ones she understands, she has been taught), and also doesn't understand the reason behind people's attitudes when they change suddenly, not to mention her apparent lack of empathy at the beginning of the book (towards the bird and her classmates) and throughout it. She's autistic as fuck imo but I could be wrong.

Also, on the topic of sexuality, she is 100% aroace, like there is no room for doubt there. This results in trouble for her, being a single woman living in Japan in her thirties, since all of her friends and her sister pressure her to get married or at least date somebody. This is obviously fucked up, but Keiko just sort of goes with it in hopes of becoming "normal".

There's also a lot of talk of Keiko being "cured" throughout the book, which, while already messed up, is even worse when you read her as having autism. We all know why.

On the topic of Shiraha, I fucking hated the guy (as anyone with half a braincell would). Literally an incel droning on and on about the stone age, about being the victim and about women not wanting him because they go for (basically) alpha men (he doesn't phrase it like this, but c'mon). He also berates Keiko time and time again, which she doesn't care about at all, but as a reader / listener, it's really infuriating, especially since the two things he shames her for are:

1. Being a single woman in her thirties

2. Working at a convenience store while in her thirties

Which is obviously misogynistic, and ageist, and I don't know if it's the right term, but also classist. He views convenience store workers, and most definitely all retail / "lower end" workers, as trash that will never get anywhere (as if HE'S going anywhere), and he also speaks frequently of how he is looked down upon for being a virgin at his age and then proceeds to do the same to Keiko. He's such a hypocrite it's unreal.

Another thing, the way that Keiko's friends consider her an outsider until she lies about having a boyfriend is really painful to read about when you're similar to her. I have this fear of forever being an "other", and this made me feel queasy.

While I couldn't relate to Keiko at 100%, I still could relate to her quite a bit, so it really hit close to home whenever she was told she was a nobody, that she would go nowhere in life, and other horrible things. Keiko herself doesn't seem to care about this, but I do.

A lot of people call this book disturbing while others call it funny. I don't know where I fall, but it's definitely not funny.

I think my only major gripe with the book was, for some reason, the way the title was translated. The original title (as said at the end of the audiobook), is "Konbini Ningen". Which if I'm not wrong, translates literally to "Convenience Store Human". I like this better since it ties in with Keiko's view of herself as nothing but a convenience store worker, if not a "convenience store animal", as she says towards the end. However, "Convenience Store Human" doesn't have the same appeal as "Convenience Store Woman", so I can see why they went with that instead.

Anyways, I really enjoyed it. It felt oddly familiar, and was fun to listen to. I gave it 4.75 🌟 on Storygraph, because (I don't know why) it wasn't QUITE there for me. It might change in the future though idk.

updates that nobody asked for #5

Once again I revisit this blog and provide the titular yearly update. Here’s hoping that there will be more frequent updates moving forward.

Some things (of course) have changed since update #4, which I will now proceed to lay down in bullet points :

1. I’m now already 8 months (& more) into my new job as a Key Account Manager (not manager as per my offer letter/HR payslip, but more of a managing role in general...without the pay to match). I’ve finally hit the 4K mark, but now feeling I’m grossly underpaid taking into consideration the workload and my age.

2. Speaking about age, I feel like a senior citizen at the ripe old age of 26. Not sure how it’s going to fare in the later years. I now have colleagues younger than me..not that I didn’t have any in my previous jobs...but never I have felt as inadequate as I do now. 4k is now merely make-ends-meet sort of money. Not as life changing as 22 year old me hoped. 

3. Still haven’t achieved the mythical “work-life balance”. Maybe more of an allegory at this juncture. In fact, it’s actually gotten worse, I now actually *makes an exaggerated facial expression* work unpaid OT voluntarily *gasps in horror*. If you had asked 2022 me, I would have immediately asked you to sit down and shut the fuck up, since there was literally 0 chance of me going bat for my work.

4. In terms of relationship - it’s been err..fights and arguments as usual. I still have not broken up with him. The relationship is still stale..just haven’t gotten the heart to officially rip the whole thing apart. To make matters worse, we have already bought Coldplay tickets, literally in November. So..how do you ask? No fucking clue at this point.

5. Ashamed but not ashamed enough to reveal to complete strangers on the internet that I’ve had not 1, but 2 weird and oddly specific sex dreams about my manager...all based on someone I’ve only seen & interacted literally once face 2 face last year when I had my onboarding. And to think, his face was based on some other colleague’s face too. WHYYYYYYYYYY

6. Looking to go on more exciting OVERSEAS adventures this year & years to come. Saving up and spending my hard earned cash on SELF ENLIGHTENMENT TRIPS (obviously not the case, but one can pretend to virtual strangers).

Seeing Shadow for the first time triggered what she could only assume's a bug in her programming and made hr quickly come to the realization that she was a fake. It was confusing and devastating at the time but also helped her gain freedom and self awareness.

Hello!👋 I feel like it's been ages since I opened Tumblr. I've been meaning to answer all of your comments, but several things happened this week that literally changed everything in my life.🙃

For starters, I got covid. Not fun at all, experienced headaches and body aches that turned me into a potato, and now I'm almost out and back to full health...I just need to endure a sore body for two more days. ✌️😭

Lmao it came as a shock to me too --to everyone in my department since we all got fired. It stranded a lot of us because the news came as a work email at 9 am when everyone was home bound dealing with covid. No one expected it because we had just come back from a successful work trip to acquire a new client for the company. Now looking back, I should have paid more attention because just last month, half of the HR department was fired👀 and if you're a victim of capitalism and a slave of the work force you know HR is the last to go, like they're untouchable when the company is purging their payroll. HR, the last standing soldier, the one that sees you off...welp. 🤦

I wanted to leave an angry rant here the moment it happened, but I needed to keep moving and not let the fear of an uncertain future drown me. I know I'm still young and there are a lot of opportunities out there (I would like to think that way) but in a world where the timeline of how your life should play out is set and everyone around you is following it you can't help but feel like a failure when these things happen. Like, I don't want to get married and have a child in two years, you know. And I don't want to be frowned upon if I don't have a job that makes six figures by the time I get married. Cause everyone around me is doing that. I want to enjoy life at my own pace, and maybe getting fired from this important office job is a sign to follow the creative path I always wanted...I don't know. I have a job interview in two hours, so I guess this is me nervous rambling. 😬🥴

I was also considering putting my writing hobby on a Hiatus, but immediately backtracked because I don't want this hobby of mine to be tainted by the pressures of adult life. So I'm still going to write the shit out of my imagination because like many of you have said, it is an escape from reality. Chapter 22 is fully drafted, I actually added more scenes because when I first read the draft it felt like it lacked some important scenes, so that's where I'm at with the next update. I hope to give you teasers this Wednesday and post this weekend.

Let me end this rambling with something that I want to tell you all that my dad actually tells me every time I'm stuck. Whatever you chose to do, don't think of it as something you have to do for the rest of your life. It sounds hard, and it is hard to make the decision to change career paths, but sometimes you just need that push towards what will eventually make you happy. So here I am telling you that even if we don't know each other, just know that I will cheer you on. Whatever change you're too scared to make but that you know it will make you ten times happier than what you're doing right now, picture me telling you to go for it. My dad always says to not be scared of failure because out of everything you can learn in life, Failure is the biggest learning lesson you can get.

With that in mind, let me go apply for jobs that I'm under qualified for while I figure out what in the hell I'm gonna do next. 🤔

I’m sure he means well enough, but uh, Jake rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it’s the savior complex. He doesn’t really have a life outside of the Safehouse. We saw the fight with his mom, about him not having a “real” career. Like he literally devotes all his time, energy and resources into this. Why? What does he get out of it other than personal satisfaction? I think he loves the idea that people need him.

It could be the hypocrisy of “not” sleeping with pets. After being so adamant about it this whole time and then to go for the sluttiest pet that shows up? Kinda sus, tbh! Like not even just Kauri, like one would be an exception, I guess, but also I know he wasn’t like “sleeping” sleeping with Chris but I think the bed sharing is kinda just.... no. Would deffffff be against HR regulations lol.

Maybe it’s just because we are supposed to like him, I dunno man. Don’t take it personally! I love your the rest of your characters and all of your stories and I think you are a fantastic writer! But Jake makes me want to pull my hair out.

Hey, Anon! I appreciate this comment, and I hope you weren’t worried that I would be mad or anything. While every writer kind of has the “oh no but that’s my son” response, I actually really enjoy seeing how people see my OCs and their actions over the course of a story. 

Heads-up, I ramble a lot and this got long

Jake definitely does have a savior complex, and it’s rooted in his childhood abuse by his father and his sense that the people who could have helped (family, friends, community) chose not to, and instead simply stood by while he and his mother fought alone to find a way out. As a young adult getting into pet lib, he found a place to channel his innate need to NOT be the person who sits by and does nothing, and he definitely throws himself headlong into it.

It’s less about the rescues needing him, and more about him needing to feel like he’s building something out of the wreckage of his own early life, something better. That he’s MAKING something better for other people than what he himself had, providing the support that he didn’t receive, giving the care that he struggled to even admit he needed.

Jake’s not perfect, but he’s not enjoying the dependence on him - far from it. He is, though, trying to sort of change the timeline for other people so it won’t look as much like his own.

As far as not having a life outside of his work, that’s very true! Not only is he working full-time and living in the safehouse, he is also going to school with the specific intention of gaining skills and knowledge to run a safehouse himself (which he eventually does) and provide even more advocacy for the rescues, who often aren’t safe to speak up for themselves. In the Speak Out arc, which I’m kind of easing into now, you’ll see Jake struggle with the push and pull of knowing that, long-term, keeping these secrets isn’t as much help as the rescues deserve, and knowing that speaking out could have even more ruinous results.

When Jake and Kauri meet, they are 23-24ish and 21-22 respectively (more or less- I change my mind on the exact numbers now and then, just go with it). When their long-running friendship and pining eventually becomes a relationship, Jake is nearly 30, and Kauri not far behind. The interim seven years or so involved a lot of change for them both, and Kauri himself changed a lot. I don’t write this chronologically and I really haven’t done enough to develop Jake’s changes, too! I can see why it’s weird to read it, thinking through the lens of early, vulnerable Kauri. But as @whumpiary I think said at one point, at some point a person is not defined by their tragedy or trauma and can define themself. Kauri defines himself, with time, and it’s strength for him to reach out and take Jake’s hand.

(For the record, I kind of hissed through my teeth at describing Kauri as slutty in a way that’s pretty judgy, only to have Kauri’s response be, “So what if I am? I’m having fun” because... well, Kauri gonna Kauri and he is ~unbothered~)

I do bristle a little at the platonic bed sharing with Chris. Chris comes out of things deeply dehumanized and degraded, and seeking out the comfort of someone when he is scared at night is actually pretty important to him. Jake isn’t pushing him on that at all. Chris also pursues similar behavior with Antoni - and also Nat! - when Jake isn’t around for some time, and it becomes less and less common and eventually stops entirely as Chris becomes more solid, steady, and stable with therapy and rebuilding his life.

Also, I love the idea of the most harried Linda in the world working at safehouse HR.

THAT SAID

I totally see the validity in not liking him! People have had similar feelings about Nate Vandrum in Danny’s story because of his initial passivity and not doing anything to help (Danny actually hates Nate for a while, too, during early captivity, and ooooh I should write out some of that). 

Please don’t take my rambling as trying to make you like him, I’m totally not, I just love the excuse to ramble about character motivations and internal thought processes and whatnot.

Undercover - Chapter 22

Chapter Selection

After Spencer’s realization there were no new connections, thoughts, nothing. We were all stuck on a single thought. 'I have something to do with all of this.'  

"There's another body", an officer peaked through the door and all of us gathered and left for the most recent crime scene. It was close by to the station almost like Mark knew we were catching on, he always was a cocky asshole.

It was in a cozy neighborhood, yet again the victim shared an uncanny resemblance to me. Half of us were dodging all of the CSI workers as they secured the scene to make sure it wasn't contaminated. The woman was bound to her bed, again with deep slashing running down her bad.

I subconsciously touched my scars only stopping when I felt Aarons hand go to my lower back. The blood was collecting in the wound, "Cuts were anti mortem."

"He wanted them to feel everything", Spencer spoke. There was something that didn't feel right at the moment. This kill for some reason gave me an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I rushed out the room and went outside and threw up.

I turned feeling a hand on my back, Morgan had followed me out. "You wanna talk about it."

"Not right now", there was a hint of disappointment but he wasn't going to make this about him. "Derek something some thing doesn't feel right about that." I pointed to the house.

"I know I have the same thought", he nodded and waited for me to get back together before walking back inside.  

We rejoined the group inside the house on the first floor. Something urged me to turn around and when I did I saw a note poking out of one a drawer.

I opened it and the note had my name on it:

In more ways than you think

Reading the note brought a bad taste to my mouth. The team noticed me at the desk and walked over, "What'd you find?" I folded the note and gave it to Aaron, "I don't know yet."

The corner took the body and we waited for the ME to look at the body and give us a report. We all returned to the station sitting in the same room. There was a darkness over every single one of us for some reason; they all could feel it.

Hours went by, we decided to call it. Heading to the hotel; until the ME got back to us we could form anymore theories to get the case closed.

I got in the car with Aaron, he took his time driving us back. I wanted to enjoy the slim time of peace that I had at the moment. Soft music playing in the background, I stared out the window looking at the passing street lamps and people walking minding their business.

We arrived at the hotel, none of us saying a word. Going to our separate rooms, There was a wrapped box at our door, addressed to me. Aaron put his around me, pulling me back and calling everyone. He wasn't taking the chance, if there was a bomb.

He had the bomb squad there in 10 minutes. They carefully unwrapped the paper and made cautious cuts at the tape on the box. Unfolding it they were met with another fucking note. What the hell is his obsession with that.

There was something else in there, it was a toy train; one a baby would play with. The bomb squad cleared it and let us near. I got my hands on the note

I'll give you a hint

It clicked in my mind, the latest victim was pregnant. The team surrounded me and stared, I never told them about that. They knew Mark wouldn't mess up like that, he planned everything out. Emily looked down, avoiding my eyes.

Not saying anything I watched as their forms disappeared from my view; they walked away to their rooms. Everything was moving in slow motion, Aaron gently gripping my wrist pulling me into the room.

I changed and got under the covers. Aaron pulled me close, keeping me warm from the winter weather.

I woke up to my phone ringing next to me. I wiggled out of Aarons grip and answered, "What Garcia."

"I figured you guys might wanna see this before I-- uh say anything to everyone else." I tapped Aaron and he stirred, finally sitting up next to me. Garcia shared her screen, "I haven't looked past the first photo, they seem-- invasive."

Our eyes opened wide, when she sent the photos, and a video to me.

They were pictures of Aaron pinning me to the wall, hovering over me laying kisses on my neck, me cuffed to the bed. The video was even worse, it showed very clearly Aaron pounding into me after I moved it. A full view of everything.

"That son of a bitch was there after you guys left." Aaron was livid, if Mark had these he could expose us to Strauss. Garcia tried to trace them but untimely came up empty. "Can you delete these."

She nodded, "I can try and with all the copies I can but I don't know if I can get all of them." We finished up and ended the conversation. I let my head fall into my hands.

"What are we going to do if Strauss finds out." He was trying to think of a way we wouldn't get transferred or fired. There was a way that I thought of, but if that was forced on me it would go well.

"If we're engaged or married, it's the same thing. I don't wanna sign a relationship form formally to HR cause they'd put us through legal hoops and I don't have the energy for that."  

Neither did I, "I don't wanna rush this, I feel that- if you're forced to marry me then you won't wanna be with me anymore. That you'll regret it at some point." He turned to me, gripping my thighs and pulling me onto his lap. He pulled my arms over his neck.

"Now why would you think that, how about I 'propose' if she finds out and later I can actually do it... formally."

I pressed my lips to his, "I'd love that. Just know I don't like huge gestures." Ruining the moment like always the phone started ringing. "Hotchner", his face went from smiling to cold then sad.

I raised his eyebrows, he put the phone on speaker. "The last victim was pregnant, y/n is there something you need to tell us?" Everything was moving fast, I was getting too much information at once.

Learning the woman was pregnant and killed because of me, the photos and video of Aaron and I, the thought of Strauss finding out about the relationship; now the team is looking for answers in my personal life.

It was like being buried alive, my chest started feeling tight and I couldn't breath. I hated panic attacks; they made me feel small and weak. It was already starting and there wasn't much to stop it. Aaron noticed and held me close to him.

Trying to stop it before it got too bad, he pushed his lips to mine; focusing my mind on one thing at a time. At the moment all I could think about was his lips against mine. I held him there for a time before pulling away.

"Baby you need to calm down, one thing at a time... okay", starting the routine all over again, we got ready for another day at the station. if we didn't get close to closing the case soon, the Bureau would call us back.

Mark was going over the next thing he was planning, he called the doctor's office to see if he could get an update on the baby. When he called he was something he didn't want to hear.

Y/n had done something that he thought she'd never do, get rid of her baby. He always thought she was perfect to carry his child, he was wrong.

"She took away my child, I'm going to take away hers", he muttered to himself; Mark was getting angrier by the second.

"Y/n...", Aaron was calling out to me and shaking my arm. When I opened my eyes Aaron was already ready for work. Another day of trying to get this bastard; he has us running in circles at least he had me running in circles.

It was like trying to catch a shadow, as so as you think you're getting close it moves with you. I dragged myself out of bed and got ready, eating leftovers and drinking yesterday's coffee.

I wasn't focused on the case, but what the team thought about the last victim. They knew she was pregnant and so far every kill had something to do with me and this was a big part of that. As Aaron and I walked through the doors all eyes were on us.

Everyone stared even the officers outside of the case; they knew something bigger was happening. The team stared as I went into the conference room, I could feel it... the tension. The desire to ask that one burning question we knew they all had.

No one spoke. Aaron sat next to me, holding my hand under the table and squeezing reassuringly. "Y/n... you're gonna have to tell us everything if we're going to have a complete profile on Mark."

Rossi broke the silence and I kept my gaze on the table. Only Aaron and Emily knew about the baby and that was... not a good time in my life considering. I pushed my urge to run out of the room deep down.

"When we were on vacation, I was walking home from the club and... Mark had followed me there. He assaulted me and I got pregnant. I didn't find out till a month later and I decided to not keep it... obviously. His goal was to get me pregnant."

I was practically numb to it at this point... I never went to a therapist like I had promised but instead talked to Aaron about it. He helped me through it the way he knew how, he didn't pretend to know what it was like; he processed everything and listened.

I scanned everyone's faces and they all looked hurt. They were all upset I didn't tell them the personal things in my life. "We could've helped you", I shook my head.

"That's not your responsibility-- we have a job to do and I didn't want all of your focus on me." If they were all worried about me they wouldn't pay attention to the next unsub.  

"Y/n, to do our job we need to make sure everyone is okay, I need to make sure everyone's okay." I let out a quiet I know. JJ was staring at me like she was trying to find a way to fix me, in a motherly way if that makes sense.

She lost a baby before; it's not the same because I chose to get rid of it but she sort of understood. Losing a baby, despite it being unwanted it still hurt in a sense.

We were in Maryland for the next three days and no new body dropped. The case went cold and we were called back to Quantico. Driving back I was with Aaron, "When's Jack coming back."

"Jessica will be there when we get home." I smiled to myself. The ride went faster than I thought. One second we were leaving the precinct and the next we were back home. I opened the door and was met with someone jumping into my arms.

Jessica was on the couch, "I'll leave you too it."

"Thank you... really", Aaron walked Jessica out and he locked the door. "Do you wanna say hi to your dad." Jack never left my arms; he clung on, Aaron walked over to me and Jack reached out into his arms.

"Hey buddy, you ready for school tomorrow." That wiped the smile off his face, "No, the teacher said we're learning something new." I walked into our bedroom, changed out of the uncomfortable work clothes and collapsed on the bed, I heard the Hotchner boys conversation faintly through the door.

Aaron was talking about school, what they did while we were gone and how he was still making friends. I don't remember when but I had fallen asleep.

"Y/n!", Aaron calling my name pulled me out of my heavy sleep, I wandered into the living room wearing one of Aaron's hoodies. He had made food and was getting ready to put jack to bed.

When dinner was finished Jack was yawning and I knew he was ready for bed. I stood from my seat and held out my hand, he grabbed onto it and I brought him down the hallway and to his bed. Aaron followed us and he watched me tuck him in the blankets.

"Can you take me to school tomorrow?", I moved his hair off his face and kissed his forehead.

"Course buddy, make sure to wake up extra early and I can also make you a special breakfast." He grinned and nodded falling asleep in time. I waited for him to be fully knocked out before leaving the room and quietly shutting the door.

When I closed the door Aaron turned me around and backed me up against the wall, "You're so good with him you know that right. You're gonna be a great mom."

I brought my hand and combed through his hair, "Well it's nice to have reassurance." He smirked and tugged on my arms bringing us down the hallway to sleep. He got undressed and got under the covers, I slipped in after him and he held me tightly.

"Forgot to ask... do I get any of this 'special breakfast'." I shrugged, pulling his arms around me tighter.

"Depends", he playfully nudged me and we drifted off.

I felt something dip into the bed and start bouncing, heard laughter and something pushing into my shoulder.

"Come on you got to wake her up", Aaron whispered to Jack. They didn't know that I was already up, I heard the breathing of Jack behind me and before he made his move I turned around and grabbed him.

I started ticking him, a playful scream filling the room with the laughter of Aaron and I. When I stopped he collected himself and sat on his knees gazing at me.

"Get ready for school and I make that breakfast." He squealed and crawled off the bed running down the hallway.

I turned my attention to Aaron who was gazing at the event that took place. "Sir, you have work to get to in an hour... you got to get ready." He leaned forwards pressing a soft kiss to my lips,

"Yes ma'am."

As the boys were getting ready for their days I walked into the kitchen and pulled out my ingredients. Grabbing the milk, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, and bread. I set them on the counter and started the coffee.

Jack was the first to be ready and took a seat at the table. He waited patiently as he watched me make his food. Giving him two slices of French toast; he devoured it. Aaron was finally done and I served him breakfast.

He said thank you and like father like son, he also inhaled his food. I cleaned up the remains of the breakfast and got ready for work last. We got into our separate cars and I set a course for school. Seeing I had time, I decided to take the slightly longer way.

Jack was observing the outside, "Watch out!" I didn't understand what Jack was talking about until it was too late. There was a truck headed towards the car, slamming into the rear end.

Before I knew it the car was tumbling; I got knocked out and when I came too I was upside-down. My vision was fading in and out and my ears were ringing, I made out trees and wet grass.

I was able to unbuckle my seatbelt and turn around- Jack was gone and I didn't see a trace of him anywhere. No blood, clothes... just nothing. I stumbled out of the car and made my way to the road. Seeing a car drive passed, what I did get was a clear view of the driver... Mark.

I don't remember anything after that but feeling like I was underwater and falling into the grass. Faintly I heard sirens and the feeling of being dragged. I opened my eyes enough to see a paramedic, and being in a stretcher.

Hi hi! I’m pretty sure I have answered similar asks before but it’s been a while and I have watched more dramas! I also feel like my perspective on some past dramas (that I’ve called a favorite or recommended) have changed. I do have a drama list page here you can check out but I haven’t updated it in a long time lol. I’ll list my absolute favorite dramas + also some that I enjoyed and would recommend to give a try~

Japanese Dramas:

— Itsuka Nemuri ni Tsuku Hi (2019) | episodes: 06, duration: 25 min. genres: fantasy, friendship, school, supernatural.

This one still makes my heart hurt whenever I think about it and I just simply love it to pieces. It really has left an lasting impression on me. Short and bittersweet. ♡

— Talio Fukushu Daiko no Futari (2020) | episodes: 07, duration: 45 min. genres: comedy, crime, investigation, suspense.

It’s been months since this one has ended but I still haven’t shut up about it. As of right now I can definitely say overall it’s my favorite Asian drama I’ve watched so far. The way both leads played off each other and their chemistry was just- a++ The soundtrack for the drama was also such a treat and the vibes matched it so well! The vibes of the whole drama though!! I think it was also shot beautifully. And the consistency (!!! the way they kept things going even the smallest details !!!) throughout was something I really appreciated and looked forward too :’) I really be missing it everyday... </3

— Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016) | episodes: 16, duration: 1 hr. 22 min. genres: comedy, fantasy, melodrama, romance, supernatural.

Ah, so I feel like everyone who’s seen a kdrama or looked up some has watched/heard of Goblin and from what I’ve seen it’s like either you loved it or hate it? I’m someone who did love it and the soundtrack for it was a+. Goblin was something I watched when I just started getting into kdramas so that might be a reason for me always mentioning as a favorite though! Also my love for Lee Dong-Wook as Grim Reaper... and the bromance/comedy were the best parts for me!

— While You Were Sleeping (2017) | episodes: 32, duration: 30 min. genres: comedy, fantasy, mystery, romance, thriller.

So, the first kdrama I ever watched! It holds a special place in my heart because of that fact! The soundtrack for this drama also... I remember listening to it on repeat for a while after finishing. :’) I don’t regret this being the first I watched because I remember being super into it (I’ve rewatched like two times tbh when I had hulu back when lol) and it introduced me into kdramas. I still love make gifs for it because it was such a pretty drama as well. ♡

— Run On (2020) | episodes: 16, duration: 1 hr. 15 min. genres: life, romance, sports.

PLEASE, best kdrama of 2020 for meeee! Honestly Run On was such a treat?? Ugh I be missing it. It was just too good. It gave us the most chaotic energy and epic moments. Like when will another kdrama ever??? Also me liking literally almost all the characters?! I struggle with always being annoyed/disliking every other characters in dramas that aren’t like the mains. So it’s really one I enjoyed from beginning to end and looked forward to seeing all the characters ending. For me each episode just top the next and there wasn’t an episode I didn’t enjoy! ♡

This is important because it's another instance of right-wing oligarchs adopting populist language for interests that hurt working people.

Blocking minimum wage increases does not 'Save Local Restaurants' - if it did save local restaurants, chains like Chipotle and Starbucks would be opposed to it, because what's good for local restaurants is fewer national chains. The fact that McDonald's and Yum! Brands are donating means it can't be good for local restaurants at all.

But besides that, there is an easy litmus test for whether or not an economic claim about minimum wage is bullshit, and you don't even have to have a degree in economics from a prestigious university to use it. It is, simply, "anyone that claims raising the minimum wage is bad for workers is ✨full of shit💩."

Increasing wages doesn't hurt workers because it doesn't increase prices by any appreciable amount. From the link:

By looking at changes in restaurant food pricing during the period of 1978–2015, MacDonald and Nilsson find that prices rose by just 0.36 percent for every 10 percent increase in the minimum wage

The current California minimum wage is $15.50, the FAST Act would raise it to $20 for food service workers, a 22% increase. A 22% increase in wages would mean about a 0.79% increase in prices. If you're bad at math, that means raising the minimum wage by $4.50/hr will increase the price of a $10 combo meal to $10.08. If you're distrustful of my sources, be aware that the very largest correlation that any economic professional claims - left, right or center - is only a 0.76% price increase per 10% increase in wages. That means even if you think the Economic Policy Institute must just be some kind of socialist propaganda factory, the staunch capitalist right-wing estimate is still only a $10.16 combo meal.

"Minimum wage increases are bad" isn't right versus left, it's reality versus fantasy, cold hard economic facts versus appeals to emotion about the rising cost of living. If you think the cost of a hamburger going up by a dime would be enough to make a fast food worker turn down an extra $4.50 an hour, I cannot believe you're arguing from a position of good faith, you're just fearmongering. In other words, you're ✨full of shit💩.

"Full of Shit"

That is because wages, especially for entry level workers, is such an exceedingly small portion of any business' operating costs that a minimum wage increase is basically a rounding error in real-world numbers.

Minimum wage increases do lead to more disposable income for more people, though, and that makes consumers spend more money, especially on food. So since one restaurant's workers is every other restaurant's customers, the very best thing for local restaurants is an across-the-board mandatory wage increase. Which is exactly what the FAST Act does.

Minimum wage increases do sometimes mean CEOs get slightly smaller bonus packages, but they're overwhelmingly positive for anyone that actually works for a living, because of the simple economic truth that wealth disparity is bad for an economy. Anything that narrows the gap between the 'haves' and 'have nots' leads to growth via increased aggregate demand, whereas letting wealth concentrate into fewer hands (letting business owners keep more of their profits, in simpler terms) causes economic stagnation. The closer entry-level wages are to C-suite wages, the faster an economy grows, so anything we do that gives a little more money to the people on the bottom and a little less to the people on top, the stronger the American economy becomes. Since economic growth means more opportunities and a better quality of life for everyone - including the goddamn capitalist ghouls - why would anyone be opposed to increasing the minimum wage for food service workers?

One reason would be because you're a national chain that has to compete with local restaurants, so California passing laws that help local restaurants in big cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco means more competition in already-crowded markets. Surely that's not the real reason Starbucks and McDonald's see stopping the FAST Act as worth a million dollar investment, right?

California voters will decide next year on a referendum that could overturn a landmark new state law setting worker conditions and minimum wages up to $22 an hour for fast-food employees in the nation’s largest state.

Chipotle, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, In-N-Out Burger and KFC-owner Yum! Brands each donated $1 million to Save Local Restaurants, a coalition opposing the law. Other top fast-food companies, business groups, franchise owners, and many small restaurants also have criticized the legislation and spent millions of dollars opposing it.

The measure, known as the FAST Act, was signed last year by California Gov. Gavin Newsom and was set to go into effect on January 1. On Tuesday, California’s secretary of state announced that a petition to stop the law’s implementation had gathered enough signatures to quality for a vote on the state’s 2024 general election ballot. You shrugged, the tension in the air had settled as everyone vacated the Speed Lab. Turning to walk away, your mind mulled over a few things. Before you could take a step towards the exit, Nash latched a gloved hand onto your upper arm. He maneuvered you towards him and handed you the MAD 2.2. Frowning, you placed it on your forehead. Whenever he handed the telepathic device to you, you knew he needed a second opinion with the racket that goes on in his head. He had trusted you with that aspect of his life. Also, the explorer would get inklings of feelings when you missed his other selves and wanted to talk to them.

“Hm?” You let out a questioning noise only for Nash to turn to an open space.  

“What?” Nash let out brusquely, eyebrows raised, and nostrils flared as he gestured with his arms. “What?”

You saw Harry’s form emerge from the shadows. The beating in your heart skipped a beat or two. The mental personification of the Earth-2 genius had his hands pocketed in his typical dark wash jeans as he padded over to you and Nash. “Well, it's nice to see you, too. So, it turns out we cracked the fuel problem - for this ASF of yours.” Harry’s icy blue eyes landed on you. “Love,” he breathed out.

Waving at your second love, you smiled gently at him. “Hey, Harry.”

“Pas facile non.” Sherloque appeared as well, hair slightly tousled under his fedora. “Not easy, not great.” The detective tipped his hat towards you, “Mon fleur. C’est toujours un plaisir d'être en votre présence."

“Le plaisir est tout la mein, mon bien détective.” Yeah, he had been teaching you a bit of French. Nash rolled his eyes at you two.

“But so much fun, huh?” You giggled as HR bounced into mental existence with a drumstick in hand. “I love all the brainstorming. Plus, we got all the Wellses back together again.” Let’s just say you internally squealed at how cute the novelist still is when he gets all excited. “It’s been a while, Kitten.”

“It has, puppy.”

“So, I expect I need no introduction,” A new Wells appeared in a grandiose manner. “But, yes, it is I, master of stage and screen, Harrison Orson Wells.” Orson accented his name in that deep voice of his and a slight bow as he stood dramatically next to Sherloque. You swore you saw Sherloque roll his eyes.

“Uh?” You tilted your head before looking at Nash with confusion laced on your features. So, he’s definitely a drama bish. He met your eyes and sent you a look that said to ‘ignore him and roll with it’ until the end of the conversation.

“Okay, you're new,” Nash crossed his arms at the finely dressed artisan. The geological explorer was already fed up with 3 Wells the team were familiar with, he didn’t need this nitwit joining in.

“Nash, as I know you know, when our worlds died in Crisis,” Harry began once more when no other Wells decided to join the party and interrupted his explanation. “Particles from our brain waves were drawn to you like-”

“-Like a moth drawn to a cosmic flame.” Orson was doing something with his hands that you couldn’t describe, looking off into the distance as he spoke.

What… the fuck?

“Whatever happened to show, don't tell?” Harry just fucking shook his head at Orson, a completely disappointed expression on his face. The man was just disturbed at this version of his doppelganger. At least to Harry, HR was more manageable to be around than Orson. “HR?” HR knew that signal and tossed a drumstick to his handsome doppelganger. Your eye twitched at Orson’s yelp when the two boys did that. Who allowed this dumbass in this conversation? Can we boot him out? You kept those thoughts to yourself. However, it did make your insides twist happily to see that Harry and HR were working fluidly together in contrast to a few years ago where Harry was at HR’s throat for every single detail.

“Oh, nice catch,” Sherloque complimented the exchange and Nash just rubbed his face. He needed these four to get to the point so Nash can go about riling you up today. It was a daily thing he did to see you all fiery and snarky for him.

“I love this part,” the Earth-19 novelist murmured and pulled out a rather detailed sketchbook accompanied by a dramatic gasp.

“So, there are multiversal particles inside you right now, Nash, made of synaptic energy.” Harry started to explain with the drumstick in hand and HR doing the pointing onto the page. You have no idea what the fuck Orson was doing, some hand camera gesture that didn’t need to happen. He was really trying to sell his point of being a theatrical arts master, but whatever. “Now, we take those particles and you put them in the Fusion Sphere, theoretically, they could power the ASF forever.” Rather than 100% paying attention to Harry’s speech, you were about… 75% there and 25% resisting the urge to face-palm at HR and Orson’s antics on the side. Sherloque had elected to ignore them, and Nash just looked at himself, patting his chest.

HR did another dramatic gasp as he spoke, “Forever.”

“Not only would Allen get his speed back, but I'd be rid of you lot forever,” Nash summarized for himself and Sherloque simply shrugged, rolling his eyes to the side at the connection made. The detective was 100% done and exhausted with himself.

“No, you'd be gone, too,” HR simply responded, nodding his head along. “I mean, because of the whole organic receptor thing. Oof.” The three men to HR’s side stopped and turned to him slowly. Your eyes almost bugged out of your head. You and Nash got the subtle message that HR wasn’t supposed to say that.

“Excuse me?” The blood in your veins turned to ice as goosebumps pebbled your skin. You looked at the lot incredulously as your heart fell into the balling pit of dread that resided in your stomach. “What?”

Harry grunted as the gates to his home creaked open. The rain cascaded gently onto the earth hitting his windshield. The scientist slowed the car into the driveway in order to park it in the garage. He quelled the irritation from earlier; Jesse’s accursed team were giving him issues again regarding his mysterious disappearance and sudden reappearance. Those fuckers really need to understand that it’s not their business. He needed to fix himself a drink once he got inside – he was just ready to crash. Harry checked his phone once more as he turned off the engine, the garage door shut securely. He had texted Jesse earlier about what she’d want for dinner, but she hadn’t responded. Cheese and potato perogies it is then with spiced cubed chicken. I should make some rice and a side of sautéed garlic parmesan veggies. A sigh left his lips as exhaustion continued to seep through his bones. The Earth-2 doppelganger ran a hand over the back of his neck before shutting his eyes and tilting it to the side. A cracking sound echoed in the car. Relief washed over him. Taking a step out of the car, Harry gathered the documents and folders into his bag then threw it over his shoulder. I have that Syberon presentation to attend and speak at too. The presentation shouldn’t take too long to put together. Shutting the car door, the Wells doppelganger whistled a tune while twirling his keys in the other hand. Harry opened the garage door into his home and soon the tune died slowly at the sounds of pained singing.

“My period cramps are killing me, and I~ I must confess I’m still hungry.”

“So hungry~,” he heard his daughter's voice following yours at a different pitch. Harry had stopped dead in his tracks as panic started to set in that he didn’t even shut the door. He just held onto the doorknob. Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. Your period schedule had synced with Jesse’s… and he had forgotten about date night. He’d been so busy right when he had gone back. Portfolios to approve, incompetent staff to fire, financial meetings to attend.  One problem at a time, Harrison. I have enough pads and tampons, right? I… I’m pretty sure I remembered to restock a week ago. Harry pulled out his phone to check his calendar, he’s made it his duty to mark your period dates when you’re on your placebo week just in case. He kept track of Jesse’s too even if she sorta scolded him for it since she’s a capable young woman that can take care of herself, especially with speedster powers.  Fuck, I think I ran out of chocolate. God…

“My heating pad isn’t helping me, but at least~ I’m not having a baby~.”

“Oh~”

Tiptoeing out of the house, Harry made a beeline to his car and threw his bag into the backseat once more. The scientist seat belted himself and made quick work of getting out of the driveway to head to the supermarket. He had a mission to complete – one that included him not getting the brunt of shark week by his daughter and fiancé. The dark-haired man sighed mentally preparing a list of snacks that he needs to buy for you and Jesse. At least we have enough pain medication to last the next century. Parking the car, Harry sent you a text he’d be late coming home to pick up a few items. You sent him and ‘ok’ with a kissy face emoji. The war veteran smiled to himself as he pocketed his phone and threaded his fingers through his slightly wet hair. Harry started heading towards the aisles with the mental list of snacks in mind.

 “She did that?” You raised an eyebrow at her, massaging your hand over the heating pad that laid on your lower abdomen. The pain was starting to dissipate. You really had cursed your uterus for dropping the period now of all times just as you had jumped through the breach for your sleepover date. Luckily for you, you weren’t alone. Jesse had gotten hers a few hours earlier. Both your uteruses really said ‘YOU WANNA FEEL PAIN?’. There’s just something about sharing your period days with someone else that makes it better and at the same time worse. I swear, since finding out about Jesse’s cycle this time it feels like my uterus is punishing me extra hard.

Jesse nodded from where she was reclined on the corner side of the L-shaped couch. The speedster had her father’s stress ball in hand giving it a squeeze every so often. She had her own heating pad on her stomach. “Yeah, like it’s not that hard to do your job. She’s always making excuses and lying about her situation to get out of stuff.” An empty bag of Doritos was on the coffee table along with dark chocolate blueberries and almonds. You two had practically inhaled the three bags a few hours earlier.

“I’m sorry, but she needs to go.”

“Our preceptor just keeps turning a blind eye to those things. If anyone else were to do it, they’d be grilled for sure, even taken out of the program. And don’t get me started on how Gus is making his entire life about his boyfriend.”

“Oh no, I feel a storm coming. Lemme guess, boyfriend is number one priority over everyone and everything else?”

“Yes! Like they just started dating. They haven’t been together for a full year and he’s laying his heart down for him. He doesn’t even see the red flags Dakota and I see.”

“What red flags?”

“Ok, so when they first started talking Wylan was supposed to pick Gus up for their date. Wylan ended up being two hours late and had not said a single word to Gus on where he was or if things got canceled. Nothing.” You nodded as she continued, the sound of rain hitting the home harder. It was storming outside, lighting flickering here and there. Briefly checking your phone, you wondered where Harry was and if he was okay out in this weather. “I told him not to go on that date when I was on the phone with him and Wylan ended up calling Gus when I was on the line, so naturally Gus picked it up, ok?”

“Yeah? As one naturally does.”

“Gus called me back and was like ‘I’m going with him’. Bitch, I just told you not to. He made no effort to communicate what was going on and where he was and why he was late. The second red flag drove me over the edge.” Your ears perked up at the sound of the door groaning at the hinges, a signal to it being opened. Your heart jumped in your chest as you waited in anticipation. Jesse grinned slyly as she saw the cheery smile perk up on your face.

“Did he end up telling Dakota what happened?”

“No, because he knows Dakota would confront him about shit. I end up telling Dakota because they have a right to know. We just end up keeping things on the downlow.” Jesse sighed, languidly getting up and using her powers to clean up the little area you and she have made residence in before her father can see. While Harry was prone to having a messy lab, it was work and tech – not junk and trash everywhere. “Wylan is rich because of his daddy’s money, not hard-earned money that he’s made for himself, and he has these… conservative-ish ideals.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, that… Gus and I were talking about tattoos and piercings on Facetime and Wylan told Gus that he shouldn’t get any tattoos or piercings. First of all, Wylan is not Gus. Gus is free to do as he so pleases with his body. If he wants to get a tattoo, Wylan shouldn’t have a final say in regards to what Gus should and shouldn’t do.” Jesse ran a hand through her hair in irritation, the idea of Wylan seemed to just rile her up so much because she’s just looking out for her best friend who can’t see the signs and flags regarding Wylan. “He can put out his opinion and Gus can consider it, but in the end it is Gus’ life. Not Wylan’s. If Wylan doesn’t want those two things for himself, then by all means, go for it. But don’t enforce your views on someone you had just started dating.”

“I’ve brought peace offerings,” your fiancé had walked in with a couple of bags, his suit slightly damp and his hair a mess more than usual. Setting the bags on the coffee table, Harry kissed the top of his daughter’s head before giving you a sweet and needy kiss. After a long day, he really missed you. Your heart swelled in your chest when you took a peek to see the snacks in the bag. Jesse was already opening a bag of her favorite chips. You knew that he kept a vigilant track of your period, especially since the two of you don’t want an ‘oopsie baby’. Maybe not this soon. “What are you guys talking about?”

“Gus is apparently living in a fantasy world where he and Wylan 100% workout even though there are a good number of red flags that exist in their few months of dating,” you clarified to the scientist, who only ended up frowning. Jesse sipped on her cranberry juice and gauged her father’s response.

“Gus is smarter than that. A shame, I liked him and valued not only his thinking skills, but his ability to execute the work he’s thrown himself in.” Your fiancé had sat down beside you. The worn-out feeling began to set in his body, especially his legs. Harry unbuttoned a few buttons on his formal white long sleeve. You scooted closer to Harry with the intent on cuddling beside him and resting your head on his chest. His heartbeat felt strong. “Gus deserves a better man.”

“I guess love and money blind?” Your statement sounded more like a question as you glanced at Jesse. The speedster tiredly exhaled; you could tell that there was still more to the story. “Gus�� been too invested with Wylan to really take a step back and see reality for what it is. Instead, from what Jesse’s been telling me he’s been using all his time just for Gus. So essentially neglecting all other relationships that are permanent in his life like friends and family and commitments to work and such.”

Honestly, I should have seen this coming. Eobard always makes his comeback one way or another – especially with his Negative Speedforce enabling his actions. But you kept those thoughts to yourself as you pressed the buttons to the elevator. No one was in the labs at this hour tonight, no one knew you knew. And you preferred to keep it that way. Gideon was the one that alerted you, just as you had set her up to when things came to be like this. Knowing him, he’s going to break out of whatever is holding him down and make his way to me. He always does. For now, I’ll just have to keep an eye on Nash. You strode down to the pipeline. The tips of your fingers slid on the lock panel.

"So," your voice pierced the atmosphere as the mechanical tarp rose past the halfway point. The dark-haired man who was initially sitting stood up once the gears turned to reveal who was on the other side. He pocketed his hands in his pants, looking intently. "Are you Nash or Eobard?" You held the bag of BBB close to your hip. The imprisoned man eyes what you had, faintly smelling its contents. "And before you answer that, I know that Nash isn't one for processed foods." You held the bag of fast food up as an indicator.

You got your answer as soon as a wolfish smirk laced itself onto the man's face – that handsome viciousness. A subtle flicker of red crossed the man’s eyes, but it was gone in an instant. It was evidence that he had little to no power of any sort in this body. "You already know the answer to that, now don't you, my queen?"

“Now, how did you land yourself in this predicament, Eo?” You sighed, approaching the cell to set the food into a little department for him to have. With no hesitation, the future genius made a grab for it, a groan leaving his lips as he chewed on a curly fry.

“I think the better question is: how are you down here? Unless…”

“I disabled the cameras for the meantime. What the team won’t know won’t hurt them, right? Barry doesn’t trust me anyway, but I’m a good actress – had to be for a while, remember?”

Eobard smirked proudly at you, continuing to eat. “I knew Crisis was coming. Didn't think it would come this soon, but… I hid in my Speedforce at the last second to preserve myself to the changes in this newer timeline. My Speedforce isn’t connected to Barry’s so the damage that his sustained naturally didn’t affect mine.” He had already rendered Nash unconscious while the other Wells remained in their respective places – hesitant to face the speedster in Nash’s mind. All, but one, of course. That one silently watched on with angry eyes. Eobard ignored him. “Yet, I did wake up… bodyless – possibly a side effect to what happened, but not an unsolvable puzzle.”

“Which you ended up possessing Nash – the closest body to your previous one.”

“Sounds about right, you were always quick to catch on to my intentions, queenie.”

“So, your body is still in the Negative Speedforce?”

“It should be. It’s always so fun reminding Barry that I still carry the face of the friends he loves so dearly. The others up here,” Eobard gestured to Nash’s head, “they’re fun to toy with.”

You chose to ignore that last statement, licking your lips as you processed his words. That… can only mean one thing, especially with the multiverse gone. “And you’re going to use Nash to get to your body then.”

Eobard pointed to his nose as if to say, ‘you’re right on the dot’ as he finished his curly fries. “I’m assuming you’re not here to let me go, is that right?”

“It wouldn’t make sense to,” you nodded, folding your arms with a little head tilt. “That’d give them a clue that I released you – not a wise thing to do at the current moment. Plus, you’re smart. You’ll figure out a way to escape.”

“Then, what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?”

“Eo, you know I love you.”

“And I, you.” He unwrapped his favorite burger, eyeing you before taking a bite.

“And because of that, you need to leave Nash’s body.”

The villain raised an intrigued eyebrow at you. “Now, why would I want to do that?”

“Well for one, your body is in the Speedforce – we can find a different way to get you to it. So technically, you don’t need Nash and his body. You can easily leave before the others force you out.”

“Not without stirring some… chaos.”

“Why is Nash locked up?” You voiced, striding into the pipeline main area. Barry, Cisco, and Caitlin whipped their heads at the sound of your voice as you entered. You were miffed, to say the least – well, you feigned to be.

Harrison Wells and Doppelgangers Birthdays

So I've realized that these boys technically don't have a specified birthday unlike Barry and the others. So @crazythoughtsandlove and I came up with a valid-ish list of dates for the Wells boys. It went according to their personalities and the zodiac sign they align with the most. Those will be listed as well according to https://www.astrology-zodiac-signs.com. We’re basically gonna go in order of oldest to youngest within their birth year. This isn’t canon, we’re just speculating! If you so choose to use this as a guide, then by all means.
