Sad Milk doodles

2024 Writing Wrapped

As you probably know if you follow this blog, I am an exceptionally nerdy person! We all love when we're presented with the statistical breakdown for what music we listened to, books we read, etc., and personally I love a statistical breakdown for just about anything.

I present to you my 2024 Writing Wrapped, brought to you by Excel!

This year I've kept track of my wordcounts from February 24 until December 31. Prior to February, I really didn't write at all.

In 2024 I wrote a total of 297,220 words, for an average of 812 words per day (including January in that average, during which I did not write).

On average, I wrote 24,768 words per month. My most productive month was November, when I wrote 53,943 words. My least productive (recorded) month was March, when I wrote 7,463 words.

I wrote on 233 of 366 days this year. That's 64% of the year spent writing! My longest streak was 56 days (8 weeks), spanning from October 15 until December 9. My most productive day was November 28, when I wrote 4,448 words.

(In case you're curious, I wrote 426 words on February 29. Leap Day didn't impact the stats very much, did it?)

During 2024, I did not publish anything traditionally. I published six new fics this year (5 completed, 1 ongoing)! They were published between April 20 and December 5. Between 10 chapters, they come to a total of 33,091 words. In comparison to how much I wrote this year, that represents 11%.

What did I write the rest of the year? Well, I have a whole lot of drafted fics that may or may not get published, piled up in Google Drive. A huge chunk of this writing was put into drafting a novel with @dragon-gem - between the two of us, that came to 167,034 words. Towards the end of the year, quite a bit of these words have gone into planning another novel, which I hope to start drafting relatively soon.

What's coming in 2025? Here are a few of my goals:

Write at least 200,000 words

Finish my ongoing fanfic, Orange is the New Black

MOST AMBITIOUS: Draft the sci-fi novel I am currently plotting

MOST IMPORTANT: Keep having fun writing!
