2020 Memories: Late 2019 Triple Threat

Three games - two that I started playing in late 2019, and one (in a set of two versions) released in late 2019 - that ended up defining much of 2020 for me. The Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy, the Danganronpa Trilogy, and Pokemon's 8th generation launch titles, Sword and Shield. All of them contain particular aspects to them that will more than likely warrant their own posts later on down the line.

Quality-wise, the Ace Attorney games were the most consistent. While Phoenix Wright remains my favorite of the bunch, I can't deny that the experience was improved by things brought to the table in Justice For All and Trials and Tribulations, and that by the end of that last installment, I'd felt as though I'd had a complete experience that satisfied me and left a strong impression on me even days after I'd finished playing. By contrast, Danganronpa hit it out of the park with its first two VNs only to strike out big time with V3, and while Sword and Shield got better with each expansion, the sheer letdown of its main game and how underserviced the Galar region was by its material left a lingering aftertaste that Gen 8 couldn't shake off.

But I will say this: I found great joy in playing and experiencing all of them for varying reasons, which is exactly what was needed for a year such as 2020, and thus they are fond memories 5 years later.

I sometimes forget how strong memories can be when paired with music.

But then I listen to Nightfall in Middle-Earth, and I’m instantly back in a spring break that never ended, seeing my backyard in a new light as I sing (scream, really) from the swingset.

Almost four and a half years in, and that album has yet to lose its touch. I smile every time, I sing along whenever possible, and I spare a thought for the eighth grade girl who had just discovered something magical.

One of my memories of the lockdown period in 2020 was that I was scheduled to go pick up a sushi meal for 4 from a nearby place.

I walk into the restaurant, push the door open and I see ALL the waiters backing one of their colleagues into a corner and yelling at him. I have no idea about what, but the moment i stepped foot into the place the nearest one immediately turned to me and in the nicest tone ever asked what I need.

“Hi, um..I’m just here to pick up the order..?”

“Oh yeah, I know the one. It’s ready. Here.”

I thank him and I’m not even out the door before he rounds again on his colleague and everyone continues right where they left off yelling at him.

Drawing my crew during my Dragon Friends Days

So this was way before I even had Scratch like a year later. & uh... yeh... those 4 on the right were my frends (that I spoke to).

Also I didn't give Tom & srah actual faces bcs I DONT THINK SRAH EVER DID SHOW HER FACE & I DONT DONT REMEBER TOM'S FACE. NOT THAT I WANNA DRAW THE FACES OF IRL PPL ANYWAY! (Also I remembered Tom having a YT channel or smtn but it's GoNe-)

Idk these guys might very have new lives now after DF was canned back in late 2020.... Man I miss those days... I had other frends like SnowyTheCat & Coolness but I doubt they remember me now. Actually I doubt these guys remember me now but I remember them... Will always do...

Btw the purple dragon on the far right was my original main sona, Crystal but then in early 2021, I replaced her with Neppy. (Now she's just a OC of mine). The colorful dragon on the right of Crystal was Magical101's sona. I don't think she had a name but who knows. :') (Also Srah & BusgieChick were sisters but I see BudgieChick as a borb bcs Budgies are infact B O R B S )

how old were u when Covid19 happened?

I was 17 years old when covid happened and I was a junior in high school. I had big plans that year that were canceled because of the virus! like to celebrate my 18th birthday, I wanted to go to great wolf lodge,visit my old hometown of Gaithersburg in July,and finish the rest of my high school years strong! that never happened though. now that I'm 21 years old and turning 22 in August, those will be forever memories of mine. plus 2020 wasn't the best year for me because wild shit happened that year. at least during the start of 2021 I was able to get my covid 19 vaccines,that made my senior year more awesome!

2020 Memories: Cassandra's Revenge

The third and final season of Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, and in particular its main story thread of Rapunzel VS her treacherous former friend and counterpart Cassandra, was and remains pretty contentious among viewers. But to me, the very start of it, the very middle of it, and the very end of it, were nothing short of excellence.

"Cassandra's Revenge" was the middle section that aired early into 2020. More so than the finale, this was THE evil Cassandra event, when Cass returned to Corona on Eugene's birthday, seeking the Demanitus Scroll with the ultimatum that she gets it or else she will destroy Corona rather than conquer and reshape it like she wants. She abducts Varian to get him to tell her the translations of the spell written on the scroll, which she uses to rebuild Gothel's fallen tower into a black rock fortress, from which she plans to destroy Rapunzel and her friends so that she can then take Rapunzel's power to add to her own, wage war on Corona, and embrace her self-given destiny.

After a showing of dominating evil presence by Cass, a fantastic and meaningful duet between her and Varian, and some thrilling action set to stunningly beautiful animation, it all ends on the most dreadful possible note - Zhan Tiri has emerged, free from her prison at last!

There’s a local company that will take cremated ashes from loved ones and pets and blow it into glass. My mom suggested it and it got put off but we’re finally immortalizing the best boy Sly.

The colors will be much different when it’s cooled and we’ll get to pick it up in a couple days.
