10 Reasons Why Your Small Business Needs a Website
Unless youâre a small business owner who is not interested in growing your brand, you need to have a website.
These days building a business website or ecommerce store is easier than ever: it doesnât cost much money, you donât have to know how to code or design, your online store is not restricted to business hours, and itâs one of the best means of free advertising.
Having a small business website isnât just about selling your goods and services â itâs also about providing something of value to potential customers.
With so many low priced online services, thereâs really no excuse to keep putting it off.
Still not sure how having a website will help you grow your business?
Here are ten reasons every business needs a website:
1. Your customers expect it.
If this were the only reason on the list, it would be enough. Six out of ten consumers expect brands to provide online content about their business on some form of digital property, and more than half head straight to the brandâs website for product information.
If you donât have a business website, todayâs Qmoniqs Software Pvt. Ltd. customers may look elsewhere. Take a look at this list of specifics that customers say they want from a business website.
2. It provides social proof.
Ninety percent of consumers claim that online reviews influence their buying decisions.
You could rely on Foursquare, Yelp, and other review sites to host reviews for your brand, but you can kill two birds with one stone on your own website.
Since potential buyers are already looking for you online, including customer testimonials on your site is a great way to impress potential buyers.
3. You control the narrative.
Itâs true that you cannot control what others say about you on social media channels, but you can influence public perception by creating your own story via a business website.
A company blog helps business owners get their message, mission, and personality in front of their target audience faster than print ads or snail mail brochures.
Plus, social icons linking to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other networking platforms make sharing your content easier for your visitors who like what they see.
4. More bang for your buck.
When you use a free website-building tool, like WordPress.com, you position your company to reach thousands more potential customers for less than you would spend mailing ten brochures by traditional mail.
5. You donât need extensive coding or technical skills.
Because WordPress â and a number of other website-building platforms â offer online tutorials and community-based support, almost anyone can get a basic website up and running in about thirty minutes.
6. Your competitors all have company websites.
Consumers typically start their buying journey with research and recommendations from peers and social network connections.
Studies show that once a consumer has an idea of what they need or want, they start researching, and 72 percent of them go online to find educational material, reviews, and testimonials, according to a recent report.
So if youâre not staying competitive with your competition, youâre giving shoppers a reason to buy from another brand.
7. Never put up the âclosed for businessâ sign again.
Nobody wants to work at 3 a.m., but some people like to shop then. Having a business website or ecommerce store means that you can sell products all the time â not simply between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
An online store can mean a dramatic boost in sales, especially when you factor in additional customers who are not restricted by geography. Your online presence also supports marketing campaigns, customer service, client relationship building, brand recognition, and almost every other element of the revenue stream.
Combining your website with marketing tools, like email marketing, helps you reach new customers and generate repeat business.
8. Youâll show up in Google search results.
Consider this: 81 percent of consumers perform online research before making a purchase. That means they go to Google and type in one or more keywords, like âbest leather shoesâ or, if they know what they want, âhandcrafted Italian leather womenâs shoes in Los Angeles.â
If you donât have a website for your business, the chances of showing up on the search engine results page (SERP) are zero. But if you have a site, you can optimize it for search engines, thereby increasing your chances of appearing at the top of Googleâs results and getting more visibility with potential customers.
Long-tail keywords, meta descriptions, and titles are just some of the things you can customize on your site to improve your search engine optimization (SEO).
9. Create a resource center for your staff.
In addition to helping customers, your business website can also benefit your own employees.
Create an orphan page (one that is not visible anywhere on the site so it canât be found unless someone is given the direct link) with self-service videos, instructional materials, or even internal forms to help your team learn everything they need to know on their own schedules.
10. Showcase your products and services.
Not only can you display your products or outline your services in detail with beautiful images, but you can provide short video tutorials or downloadable PDF instructions to give hesitant customers no reason to go elsewhere to purchase.

queen of hearts - sjn
summary: for the first time, one of your star students hasnât been fetched right after class. but when she finally does, you werenât expecting such a fine man to be her father.
pairing: johnny x female reader
word count: 5.5k
genre: fluff, romance, comedy | ceo and single dad!johnny + ballerina!reader + modern day!au
warnings: mentions of an absent parent, johnny being an overthinker, sexual innuendos (ten saying dilf hehe), slight explicit language, technical terms of ballet, a mini reference to mean girls
authorâs note: sooo i came in touch with my former dance life, which led me to write this. there are links for the variations i used; their names are underlined when theyâre mentioned. i am going to get technical with ballet terms here (even when my ballet knowledge decreased), so to any dancers reading, i really did my best, so please donât come for me or do correct me for any mistakes.
although one character and her dance background, plus the name of the setting, are real, everything else about it is still a work of fiction.
i miss dancing, no cap.
leave me some feedback, constructive criticism or hellos!
Ballet student and teacher by day, a soloist of the Korean National Ballet at night.
This was your daily routine, and it wasnât the typical 8-5. But itâs debatable whether or not it was worse, because youâre always going overtime. Thatâs the thing when youâre an overachiever. Nonetheless, you loved what you do. Itâs the lifestyle you gradually built since your preschool days.
Mornings on the weekdays were mostly vacant since all the kids were still in school. Youâd start at 10 am for a warm-up class for the company. Before you delved into teaching and assisting, youâd train right after your lunch break. Partnering class, en pointe class, 1-on-1 sessions with choreographers, self-practice, then the company night class, thatâs the organization of your week.
Now adding the teacher title, you mostly handled kindergartners to 5th graders in the academy aspect of the company. Your first teaching class would start at 1 pm. Itâs when the younger students who finished their morning classes zoom into your assigned dance studio. One class would last an hour and a half, then you have a 30-minute break in between another class with the older kids. Their lesson repertoire was more strenuous due to the added across-the-floor lessons and jumps. Water was always your best friend, water refilling stations located everywhere in the company building.
You wouldnât say youâre a strict teacher, but you werenât shy to correct anyone from wherever you stood. Youâd lightly align their arms or back properly so your students were working on the correct body parts. Compared to the other teachers, a lot of students enjoyed your kind yet frank approaches. Your former students, whoâve already gone to the higher levels, missed your lively presence and wished repeatedly that they want you back as their teacher.
âTeacher (Y/N), I miss you so much! Teacher Ten is so intense. I get the jitters especially when weâre en pointe on the floor.â
âTeacher (Y/N), Teacher Sicheng and Teacher Seulgi scare the heck out of me during partnering class. Especially when I tried to lift my partner, I keep losing focus because of Teacher Sichengâs never-ending comments!â
Not to be sadistic, but youâd simply laugh at their minuscule complaints. Even if theyâre struggling in the academy, those comments were directed to fix their techniques if they wanted to breakthrough.
âKids, youâre going to be fine! They wouldnât say or do those things just because they wanted to. Theyâre here to push you to the next level, like how I used to do with you. Itâs a cut-throat industry after all.â
This was always your reply, bittersweet and truthful. Not everyone makes it, unfortunately, so if youâre really striving, youâd do whatever it takes. Throughout your career, youâre relatively impressed with how far youâve come.
Trainee at 17, Corps de Ballet at 18, Demi-Soloist at 21, and Soloist at 23.
Youâve been a soloist for 4 years. The final stage, which was to become a principal dancer, is your running goal. Becoming a soloist was praiseworthy enough because youâve seen so many give up in the Corps, but claiming a spot as a principal dancer has been the ultimate dream. Since youâve watched Swan Lake for the first time at 4 years old with your parents, thatâs where you found a passion for dancing and the stage. Here you are years later, practicing numerous variations daily, performing in opera houses, and mentoring all these gifted kids.
Your last class with elementary kids, which began around 5 pm, reached its end once all the students curtsied in front of you and scurried to their mothers or their nannies. The remaining plan on your agenda today was the company class at 7:30 pm, which exceeds the average hour and a half. Itâs worse during show season. There have been times everyone went beyond midnight to polish every scene from head to toe.
Currently, thereâs no upcoming show for the public, though the annual summer recital for the students was around the corner. Selected members of the company were chosen to perform individually in it, which was both exciting and intense. Itâs also because itâs an evaluation on whether youâd get promoted in status or staying put. Youâve partaken in 3 recitals in the past, two of which elevated you from the corps and demi-soloist ranks. The recent one, however, didnât change your soloist ranking.
It was a major first in your career in ballet, and after finding out the result of the latter, it emotionally pained you. Recalling how much soul you put into that piece, the rejection from your artistic director clenched your heart. Though in time, you moved on from it and viewed it as a stepping stone. Also, Sicheng and Ten personally stormed your apartment to pull yourself together with wine and pizza after going on a short leave.
Since you were trainees, Sicheng and Ten were your best friends in and outside the company. Working daily to occasional barhopping, thatâs your youth summed up. It wasnât because you didnât like the girls youâve worked with (though a lot of them were fake and bitchy), but these two were frank and humorous as hell. Together, youâd help each other with your goals rather than be competitive. Over time, Ten leveled up to a principal dancer for 2 years running while you and Sicheng were still soloists. The way youâd watch Ten take all the big roles, thatâs where you want to be one day.
Back in your last teaching class, the entire dance room was vacant. Since itâs mainly used for ballet classes, youâd either run through anything youâve practiced from the company classes and polish it or warm up a little bit more.
Except for today, this was the only free time to sew a new pair of pointe shoes because your current ones were dead. Dead in a sense that the hard shell turned soft, which wonât be able to support you when youâre up on your toes. Youâre not taking any risks of minor injuries especially when youâre in the current lineup of company members performing for this upcoming recital again. You have to prove to everyone that you deserve a position as a principal dancer.
As your legs sprawled in a half middle split, your sewing equipment laid in front of you like youâre about to perform surgery, a tiny girl stood by the ajar studio doors. In her neat bun and holding on to her small duffel bag, youâre convinced everyone has gone home already since itâs quite late.
You may have your priorities as a company member, but she was still your student.
âMinji!â You shouted her name, speedily waving your hand. Youâre not one to have favorites, though you couldnât help wonder how extraordinary she was. Sheâs always taking charge in demonstrating the lessons to everyone and improving every session in the 3 years sheâs joined the academy. âCome in! Come in!â
At age 7, sheâs gotten taller through the years, above the average from how you see it. She must have amazing genetics. Her legs sauntered in seconds to you. Sitting down across you, she marveled at your setup. Specifically, at the fresh pointe shoes.
âAre those yours, Teacher (Y/N)?â She perked up, caressing its soft fabric and playing with the mini bows of the drawstrings.
âYes, it is, Minji!â You answered while trying to insert the thin thread through the small eye of the needle. âWhy are you still here? Is your nanny stuck in traffic or something?â
âMy nanny went on sudden leave, so my dadâs the one fetching me. But I think heâs running late from his job.â
Oh, this was a first to know about her father. In all the years sheâs been your student, you rarely caught sight of him, even in recitals. Maybe he sat in an unknown section, but youâre pretty much acquainted with all the parents of your students. Even if some were snobbier than the rest because they wanted their child to have more stage time, you still got to know them out of respect. Quite odd, if you said so yourself.
After deep concentration, the thread triumphantly passed through the eye so you tied the two ends of the thread in a double knot. Seeing as Minji attentively watched you, you tasked her to cut the ribbons of your shoes according to the trail of pencil marks. This was so she wouldnât cut it too short or too long. While she did that, you hammered your shoes against the floor to soften the hard front, bending the shank back and forth so the arch of your feet could move without difficulty later.
Minji wasnât expecting such loud sounds, her entire body shaken awake. Her facial expression was priceless, explaining to her, âOnce you get your first pointe shoes in a few years, this is one of the basic things you need to do so your feet wonât hurt too much while dancing.â
âWill you be there to teach me how to make my pointe shoes?â
âAbsolutely! Come to me first then Iâll mentor you all that I know.â
The process of sewing and breaking new pointe shoes engraved your mind since your adolescent years, with changes along the way. Inspired by some tricks from your former teachers, but there were some differing rituals you followed. Thereâs no definite process of it, just as long youâre comfortable to dance after.
With your feet, you stepped on the hard boxes of the shoes to soften it more, creating a popping sound. Followed by sewing your elastic bands in. For your ribbons, you liked to burn the edges with a lighter so the thread of it wonât run. Kindly asking your cute assistant for the lighter beside her, you scanned the edges back and forth the flame. In seconds, the edges had a distinct mark, fully closed. From there, you slid your feet to your shoes to make final sewing adjustments. Sewing your ribbons took you another few minutes, plus adding superglue inside the shoe so the shoe wonât collapse when it unstiffens and scratching the shank with a cutter so you wonât slip later while dancing.
Voila, the final product is done! Hopefully, it can last you a week at least.
âWow, Teacher (Y/N), it looks pretty!â Minji applauded, collecting the mess youâve both made to dispose of later. You, on the other hand, gave her your thanks once you applied some bandages on your big toes and put on your toe pads. Slipping inside the shoes and tying them, you rose up back to your feet and headed to the bar to break them in. From plies-relevĂ©sto forced arches, the shoes gave you the sensation that they were an extension of your feet. The ease flowed through, meaning you were ready to practice your variations.
While you stepped your shoes in rosin for friction, your curious student moved to the front where the mirror lied to watch what youâve prepared.
âWhat variation are you dancing to?â
âThis is the Gamzatti variation from La Bayadere.â You replied, tapping the play button on your phone and racing to your position on the side. Talking a short ballet walk, you strongly prepared your arms before the music of the orchestra takes off.
This variation consisted of a lot of jumps and turns. Grand jetĂ©s, attitude turns, chaĂźnĂ© turns, you needed a lot of core control and proper spotting so you wonât get dizzy. The thrilling music lessened your nerves because you enjoyed learning this piece from one of the principal dancers, smiling and letting the music guide your legs. Once you nailed 3 consecutive grand jetĂ©s, the variation ended with a sus-sous and the wrists of your hands flicking upwards.
Holding it for 5 more seconds, you landed back on your feet with heavy breathing and a need for water. But before you could, small claps and cheers from Minji in front erupted. Momentarily, youâve forgotten her presence because dancing solo puts you in your own space. Youâd never let anyone take you away from it.
âTeacher (Y/N), that was wonderful! Are you performing that in the summer recital?â
Yikes, sheâs right but she wasnât meant to see it yet. Solo performances from the company members for the recital were top secret, only unveiled during the production rehearsal. Well, you didnât think this through, but you didnât mind.
âCan you keep a secret?â
Time ticked a lot faster today, only 10 minutes left until the company class on the ground floor whereas you were in the second. Just a few steps down the stairs away, yet Minji was still here. You only presumed that within your hour break, her father couldâve made it already. But maybe heâs stuck in traffic or at work.
âMinji, my class starts soon. Have you contacted your father?â
âI already texted him earlier, but he hasnât responded. This happens often, heâs a busy man.â She bowed in front of you suddenly. âIâm sorry, Teacher (Y/N) for the hassle.â
âOh no, please!â You shook your hands so sheâd stop. Because this situation was relatively new, you were unsure of how to handle it. Or that was until you remembered what Ten texted you earlier. âMinji, the blinds of the main studio are going to be lifted so anyone from the outside can view us practicing. Would you like to watch until your dad gets here?â
With her insistent nodding, she situated herself in one of the seats in the front row. When you entered the main studio, your two close companions already carried a metal barre to the center and leaned towards it while observing you walking to them in your flat shoes.
âI see we have a bit of an audience here.â Ten glimpsed at the young girl, astonished by the many dancers prepping and chatting away with their cliques from the glass barrier.
âHer dad isnât here yet, and you did say the blinds were up today. Might as well give her a show while she waits, you know.â You lifted your right leg to the top barre, stretching it with your arms.
âHmmm, shouldnât her dad be more cautious though? Itâs getting late and itâs a Thursday. Doesnât she have school or something?â Sicheng pointed out, discarding his muscle tee to straighten out his leotard.
âThatâs not my business though. Sheâs just my student, and since sheâs still here, I have to entertain her while she waits.â
Before your friends said anything back, the artistic director of the ballet company strutted her way to the center of the room. Itâs a common rule here that once she entered, everyone must be silent to listen and race to any free spot in the numerous barres spread out if they havenât.
âAlright, everyone. Weâll do the typical barre, then before doing across the floor exercises, Iâll be requesting those performing solos already in the recital to dance any variation tonight as another evaluation on who deserves to perform twice.â She eyed the pianist directly beside her. âProceed first with two demi-pliĂ©s then one grand pliĂ©. Donât forget to do the port de bras of each position.â
As the live piano music played, your focus was divided. Partly properly executing the exercise while your artistic director roamed each barre area, partly thinking about what variation to perform. This was a first for the company, and everyone was just stunned to hear the breaking news. Itâd be nice to get an extra opportunity to showcase to people your potential.
30-40 minutes flew by quickly. As the guys carried the bars to the side to clear out the floor and the girls changed to their pointe shoes, the artistic director ordered all the performers of the recitals to stand in a line in front of her. Everyone else was seated around the room, so the interested eyes of everyone were on you. There were 10 performers, half are from the corps and the other half are either demi-soloists or soloists. You and Sicheng stood beside each other, internally shaking with nerves under the intimidating eyes of the artistic director. She used to be a principal dancer for the Stuttgart Ballet in Germany before moving back to Seoul, making her undeniably capable of leading all of you.
âOkay,â From her seated position observing the 10 performers, her finger pointed at you directly. âMs. (Y/L/N) (Y/N), you perform first.â
Your nerves intensified and more sweat streamed out your upper body. Even if going first felt more relieving, no one was ever brave enough to perform individually in front of the esteemed artistic director. Principal dancers aside from Ten that youâre close with were intimidated when they have 1-on-1 or partnering sessions with her. But anyhow, in less than 2 minutes, youâd be done. This wasnât the first time sheâs had your full attention either, so youâll treat it like the other individual performances youâve had.
You smiled to yourself when the other soloists left you alone, while you gave the name of the variation youâre dancing to the pianist. Running to the side to put on a practice tutu, the artistic director asked, âWhat will you be dancing for us tonight, (Y/N)?â
âIâll be dancing Queen of the Dryads from Don Quixote.â
The last time you did this variation was 3 years ago during the recital that didnât change your position as a soloist. Even if this variation hurt to think about for a while, it was still one of your favorites to watch and do. Moving on, you could only muse how powerful and beautiful you felt at that time. This isnât an easy piece to perform in your opinion. Yet according to the members of the company, this was their favorite solo of yours.
As the starting notes unfolded, you took a deep breath and elegantly walked into the frame. You only wished you wore your fake crown again for this. Minimal smiling and light arms, you imagined yourself as an actual queen who captured the eyes of many. In this case, your fellow seniors and juniors held their breaths at the captivating sight of you.
Off you go into a series of glissade jeté developpé on relevé at elevating heights, then a fouetté arabesque and another arabesque on relevé before ballet walking again to the side to dance across the stage. Sissonne to the front, right developpé to the front on relevé, pique to prepare for a single pirouette, you gracefully did a chassé to the front twice and stood on your toes with a sus-sous.
Doing it a few more times, the climax of the entire variation was nearing. Returning to the center, you took another deep breath and lifted your left leg for the Italian fouettés. Spotting to the front and back while maintaining your balance, the variation approached its end with lame duck turns, posing with your arms were positioned at a 45-degree angle, your back slightly arched and your left leg doing a tendu derriére. Your eyes reflected at the mirror in front, surveying your alignment. Once your 5-second hold was finished, you properly put your arms down and closed your back leg into 5th position.
The applause from everyone in the room roared, Ten and Sicheng wolf-whistling even for more support. Itâs a usual thing every time any of you perform individually, and no one minded it. The artistic director grinned, giving a quiet clap from the front before calling out the next performer, who was from the corps. Bowing to everyone hastily, you paid more attention to spot your student by the window. She was smiling ear to ear, waving both hands at you.
âYou did amazing, Teacher!â She mouthed. Hearing words of praise from members was one thing, but hearing them from students was another. Youâre so used to watching them and giving them your compliments that you often forget that youâre a dancer first before a teacher. Seeing them all delighted, saying that it motivates them more, showed that youâre doing a great job teaching them. Youâre a reflection of what you pass down, and all you want was for them to be the best they could be.
From her jolly expression, a tall masculine silhouette hovered a part of the window. Her instinct of giving a brighter smile when the hand of said silhouette patted her head then carried her duffel bag again, that could only mean one thing. Excusing yourself to the artistic director, you stepped out to bid your goodbye and maybe meet her father. Minji and the tall man were about to leave the building if it werenât for your breathy voice calling them out.
âSeo Minji and Mr. Seo?â
They stopped their tracks. Minji was fast to react, familiar with your voice and racing towards you for a sweaty hug. Meanwhile, your focus shifted once the masculine silhouette came into full view. You finally understood why Minjiâs growth spurt spiked up, noticing that he was taller than Sicheng.
The top buttons of his shirt were off, yet he kept his formal blazer on. His hair was a bit tousled, some strands falling in front of his forehead. He mustâve run here. Peeking through were some roots of his scruff growing. His eyebags were almost as dark as his brown hair. Yet by the way his Rolex remained spotless, you blatantly assumed that he was more than well-off. Especially when the ballet academy was one of the most prestigious ones in Seoul.
Out of all the parents youâve met, none of them appeared youthful like him.
âTeacher (Y/N)?â Thanks to Minji, you moved your staring eyes away from him. This was another first, since meeting only the fathers of your students wasnât your norm. Meeting young-looking fathers, to be specific.
âO-Oh,â You ate your words, suddenly blanking out. âYouâre leaving me without saying goodbye, Minji? Not polite of you.â
âMy father was rushing right after watching your performance, and I donât know why.â She responded, her finger scratching the top of her head in confusion. Speaking of said father, his strong presence appeared right in front of you. The wrinkles of his forehead creased while his eyes barely looked at yours.
âUhm,â His fingers toyed with his Rolex. âI apologize for my tardiness. I got caught up in work and all, plus her nanny le-â
âMr. Seo.â You halted his rambling, already aware of the situation. Like father, like daughter. âItâs fine. Minji loved watching us practice while waiting, and she wasnât a bother either. You have nothing to worry about.â
âPhew.â He swiped an imaginative bead of sweat from his forehead, displaying his relief with his playful nature.
At age 23, Johnny Seo started his own company in the fashion scene and it grew internationally in the coming years. Then when Minji unexpectedly joined the picture, heâs been multi-tasking to make ends meet. Lately, as a CEO, he has had meetings and conferences on a daily. So, his position as a single father was always tested. It worsened when he rarely has proper time to spend any time with Minji unless itâs the weekend or late in the evening. Breaking it down, it wasnât because he didnât want to meet you. It was more like he couldnât when his schedules were packed from head to toe.
Having the guilt of taking your precious time, âSeriously though, I am sorry for being late. Her nanny resigned suddenly, and I have no time to find her replacement.â
âMr. Seo, again, donât worry about it. As her teacher and a company member, I am practically here 24/7 so it wonât be a nuisance at all if this happens again.â
âThank you so much, Teacher (Y/N). That is your name, right?â He planted his palm on his forehead, stressed. âBeing a single parent is hard. I am always forgetting things.â
A part of you couldnât restrain from feeling sorry for his struggle. Taking care of a child should be the work of both the mother and father, not one of them being absent. Youâve feared this would harm Minji, but sheâs a strong girl.
âThe fact you didnât forget to fetch Minji despite the late time is still something to be happy over. Iâm not a parent or anything, but parenting, in general, is a challenge.â You added an insight, patting the head of the young girl beside you. âCut yourself some slack, Mr. Seo. Iâm sure Minji still loves you, right?â
Minji shouted a big yes, now clinging to the leg of her father. âItâs okay, dad. Really.â
Over the years, Johnny has been doubtful of his parenting skills. He was an only child, and he struggled to ask for guidance from his own parents due to the shame of having a kid at a young age. So, heâd ask for help from his other friends and co-workers. No matter how many times theyâve reassured him that heâs doing well, heâs an overthinker who always reflected on the bad scenarios. Thereâs also that pressure to find someone who can fill that absent position not just for Minji, but for himself too. No matter how many girls heâs asked out or been set up with, he failed in the love department badly.
Itâs the soothing way you voiced out your truth that made all these negative thoughts running through his head freeze briefly. Over the past 3 years since Minji started ballet, she always had a great story about you to share. One of them was how ballet made her a lot happier because of your influence. If he had at least an hour of his day to meet any of his daughterâs mentors, it wouldâve been you.
âDo feel free to call me Johnny instead.â He casually introduced himself, taking his hand out for you to shake. âMr. Seo makes me feel like Iâm at work right now.â
Despite his informal approach, you understood his intentions and returned the action with a promising smile. âPleasure to finally meet you, Johnny.â
âPleasure is all mine, Teacher (Y/N).â
Earlier, the nerves from performing in front of the artistic director died down fast. But for some reason, they rose back up when youâve spoken to this man in a matter of minutes. As someone whose feelings donât flourish in a single glance, why did this man specifically deliver you such a strong effect?
If it werenât for Ten calling for your name by the door, you wouldâve held on to Johnnyâs hand longer, which wouldâve been inappropriate. Letting go first, this was your cue to return to your class.
âI must head back inside, Johnny. Donât sweat on fetching your daughter late, though she is still a student with school the following day. Right, Minji?â
Minji nodded as Johnny kept that mind, knowing where he has to improve next. Â âYes, Teacher (Y/N). Thank you again, sincerely. Iâll definitely see you again in the coming days until Minji has a new nanny.â
âThatâs no problem with me at all, Johnny.â
Soon as Johnny held his daughterâs hand to exit the studio and you were re-entering the studio with an impatient Ten, he swerved swiftly as if he forgot something.
âOh by the way Teacher (Y/N), I saw your whole performance awhile ago. I was blown away, you deserved the applause.â
Although you could only distinguish his silhouette, you didnât suppose he watched you from head to toe. Most parents or nannies wouldâve dragged their kids out of the studio once they find them like they were on a tight schedule, so this was novel to experience. That performance showed your prime too.
âThank you, Johnny. See you again soon.â
Giving a final nod, you led yourself back to the studio, not bothering to acknowledge the erupting heat on your cheeks and entire body. Not to sound narcissistic, but compliments werenât foreign to you. Youâre conscious of the hard work that you put in your talent and if they pointed out your greatness, why would you deny it? However, receiving one from Johnny was like gearing your engine with new fuel.
Before you could try to reject these harboring feelings, Ten was fast to pick up on it. You cannot hide anything from this man at all because body language was like another language heâs fluent in (aside from the other 5). Unlucky for you, the saga continued.
âYouâre so into dilfs, (Y/N)!â He shrieked in your ear, nudging your shoulder repetitively. He placed things in his own way, yet they always shocked you because it was so inappropriate. Typical Ten for you.
âShut up, Ten!â You objected, watching the other performers. Youâve improved in ignoring his remarks over time. That was until Sicheng sat down beside you after his solo and got up in your business. That placed you in the middle of boys from the water sign clan of astrology. They just loved getting down to your love life, going raunchy and whatnot.
âWhoâs into dilfs, Ten?â
âA Miss (Y/N) beside you, who met Minjiâs dad awhile ago, was basically eye-fucking him.â Ten elaborated, planting his elbows on your leg and gave you a sneaky glare. âMinjiâs dad is fine as fuck, guys! Iâm telling you, like a literal god! Iâm surprised this is the first time he showed up here after 2-3 years?â
âHow come (Y/N) is always getting students with good-looking parents? Especially the single moms.â Sicheng slumped his shoulders, attempting to get your attention too. âIs he that hot, (Y/N)?â
âYah.â Sighing with annoyance, youâve given up trying to appreciate one of the corps dancers with her rendition of Dulcinea from Don Quixote. âDonât speak of Johnny like that. You barely know the man, yet you talk about him so unprofessionally."
âOh, Johnny is his name, huh?â Sicheng sing-songed, bobbing his head. Heâs certainly going to stalk him later on social media, you felt it in your chest. Like it was ESPN or something.
âTalking about being unprofessional, yet youâre here referring him as Johnny, not Mr. Seo.â Ten barked back, his lips pursed and one eyebrow lifted.
Just as soon as you could retaliate, the artistic directorâs velvety voice boomed the room.
âAlright, thank you to the performers. I will deliberate with the staff and principal dancers over the weekend, and let you know the results on Monday. Now please, letâs proceed to the center.â
Everyone began to spread out on the wide floor, snatching a good position so they could monitor themselves in the mirror. Maybe youâll defend yourself later after class because now, you needed to beat everyone else and have a crystal-clear view of yourself doing these following exercises.
In the meantime, Johnny was in the middle of driving Minji home. He had a designated chauffeur, but he gave him the night off because he wanted to spend time with Minji. Around this time, sheâd be sleeping soundly, but instead, sheâs boosting with so much life. She hasnât even eaten dinner yet, which was the first thing on Johnnyâs agenda now.
Playing Coldplay in the car, Minji belted some lyrics from her favorite songs while Johnny smiled to himself while listening to her attentively. Taking a breath, her thoughts reverted to her fantastic ballet teacher and shared them with her father.
âDad! Donât you just think Teacher (Y/N) is so cool? Ugh, I want to be just like her when I grow up.â
âOh, to become a ballerina like her, you have to work hard every day and memorize lessons fast. Are you up for it, Minji?â
âAbsolutely, dad! I want to pull off perfect jumps and turns like her one day!â
In the other after-school activities Johnny enrolled Minji in the past, none of them compared to the passion she had for ballet. Her work ethic was alike to Johnnyâs: if they want something, theyâll do whatever it takes to make it possible.
Aside from being a star student in her school, sheâs aiming to be a star ballerina. Being the supportive father he is, Johnny was on board to do what it takes to make it happen. Unlike his parents trying to mold him into the next heir of their company, heâs all ears to the dreams of his daughter. His only dream for her was to be live long and happy, not to merely pass on anything.
Johnny lost so much in his young life, so he doesnât want to lose Minji in any way. As much as he loves his profession, he wanted to be an active father as much as time allowed it. He mostly received complaints from others that heâs not prioritizing his time well, but after hearing your kind words, this heavy weight on his shoulders decreased. All this doubt started to vanish after meeting you for the first time.
âDad! Isnât Teacher (Y/N) so beautiful?â Minji honored whilst gazing at the twinkling night sky. âShe loves what she does and shines at it.â
Johnny was accustomed to his female co-workers throwing themselves at him due to his attractiveness, more than flattered even to have them feeling weak for him. Yes, there were times he used it to his advantage, some he frankly turned down.Â
However, the radiance you carried whether youâre dancing or not was something Johnny couldnât cease wondering about. Unknown to him, heâs the one getting weak. Behold, an unlocked first for the confident CEO.
âYes, Minji. I do think Teacher (Y/N) is absolutely beautiful.â

The one with the road trip
Part 15 of The one where Bucky has a cute neigbour series!
Pairing: Bucky Barnes X Reader (f)
Warnings | 18+ only - no smut but mentions of it
Chapter 15 | Chapter 14 | Chapter 13 | Chapter 12 | Chapter 11 | Chapter 10 | Chapter 9 | Chapter 8 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 1 | Masterlist
Apologies for any mistakes, this has been written on my phone and its a bit difficult to edit. Once Iâm back with a working laptop Iâll give it a once over :)
Bucky had intended on renting a bike so you could ride down to Louisiana but with Samâs suit it wouldâve been an impossible feat.Â
He settled for hiring an SUV and added you both to the insurance so you could take it in turns driving on the long trip down south.Â
âBeen together one day and weâre already on our first tripâ You teased as you rested your feet on the dash, taking in the scenery as Bucky drove. His metal hand gripped the steering wheel as he peaked a glance over to your bare legs, resisting the urge to pull over.Â
âYouâre the one having a mid life crisis doll not meâ You feigned offense and swatted the soldier beside you, pleased to get a hit in as he tried to dodge your attack. His eyes remained on the road as he grasped your hand in his. âLess of that thank youâ He laughed, bringing your hand to his lips, leaving a kiss on the back before giving it back to rest on your thigh, his hand not leaving yours.Â
âLooking forward to seeing Sam again?â He didnât respond but his face said it all. âYouâre so dramaticâ You chuckled as you leant down to root around in your bag for the road trip snacks. Retrieving a bag of cashews, you offered it to Bucky who gladly took a handful.Â
âI just know heâs going to ask a billion questions about stuff weâve not even discussed yet, that weâre probably not even ready to talk about. He didnât stop asking about you yâknow? Y/n this, Y/n thatâŠhe kept threatening to ask you out.âÂ
âOh he didâÂ
The car swerved slightly as Bucky's grip on the wheel tightened, his concentration lapsing for a split second.Â
âHe did what?â He asked, tearing his eyes from the road to glance over at you.Â
âIt was just a bit of harmless flirting-â You began before being cut off.Â
âWe flirted.â Bucky stated, his jaw clenching.Â
âWe also did a lot of things just friends donât do. Relax Sarge, he only asked to get a reaction out of me.âÂ
Bucky grunted in response, knowing his reaction was a tad over the top but he couldnât help it. You were his.Â
âWe could always mess with him in return.â You pondered as you took a swig of your drink. âMaybe hold off on telling him about us, itâs only meant to be a flying visit anyway isnât it? So we wouldnât have to pretend for long⊠play him at his own game?âÂ
Bucky smirked in response, completely on board with your little plan.
The next few hours passed with the typical car games and a quick power nap as Bucky continued driving.Â
âHow long until you start at Starks?âÂ
âA month thank god, the GRC wanted me gone pretty quickly, I didn't have to work my notice which was a blessing really. Iâll schedule a day to go and clear out my desk and say my goodbyes. Will you still get your pension if we live out of the country?âÂ
âIâm not sure to be honest, I can pick up work wherever we are though, it wouldnât be the first time. Iâm good with my handsâÂ
âYouâre telling meâ You muttered under your breath. Bucky heard you loud and clear and let out a laugh as he recalled how you spent most of last night. âAre we crazy? Travelling with no plan, barely any money and only just starting out as a couple?âÂ
âOh absolutelyâ
Eventually Bucky took a break from driving after you stopped for food in a roadside diner. It had been a while since youâd driven but you wanted to give Bucky the chance to get some sleep, something you knew he still struggled with.Â
Despite telling him to try and get some sleep on the back seats, he remained upfront with you, doing his best to battle the drowsiness that had overcome him. Heâd not gotten much rest the past few weeks, from battling the Flag Smashers in Europe, to hunting down Zemo and then back to New York. In truth he was worried heâd have a nightmare and wasnât sure on how heâd react but upon your insistence, he tried to get some shut eye. After an hour or so he dropped off, the sound of you humming along to a song on the radio sending him off into a dreamless sleep.Â
Bucky couldnât quite believe it, he couldnât remember the last time he slept without being haunted by memories of the Winter Soldier. Granted, he only got four hours of sleep , but it was the best heâd felt in a long time.
When it came to your turn to get some shut eye Bucky insisted on stopping over in a hotel for the night. Youâd tried to convince him a motel would suffice after you lost the battle of you sleeping in the car but he was victorious.Â
To be frank, after spending so many hours in the car, you were grateful to be sleeping in a bed with your super soldier by your side.Â
As you slept, Bucky took the time to fire off a few emails advising heâd be ending his lease. Having slept earlier, he felt energised and was content in browsing the internet as you slept tucked into his arm.Â
He did his best not to wake you as he opened a selfie from Shuri of her with Ayo and Nomble, a chuckle escaping his lips as Shuri and Nomble looked to be thoroughly enjoying themselves on a boat trip in New York whilst Ayo sulked in the background.Â
He also replied to an email from his therapist's office, letting them know heâd be absent from his next session but planned on returning the following week.
Bucky was tempted to let Sam know he was coming but thought it best to surprise him.
The next day was much of the same, both of you switching the drive and stopping off at diners for food. Due to the lack of respect Bucky had for the speed limit, you were making good time and would be in Delacroix the following morning.Â
â-it was like I didnât exist. Honestly it was the most humbling experience of my lifeâÂ
âSergeant Barnes in his uniform⊠now that is something Iâve got to see.âÂ
âMaybe one dayâ Â
Your eyebrow perked at the thought. âGood god manâ You groaned dramatically and sank further into your seat, giggling as you caught sight of the blush covering his cheeks. âFor what itâs worth, lack of nutrients from the rationing clearly messed with her eyesight.â You were genuinely baffled how Peggy didnât swoon for the man next to you.
âWhere were you in the 40âs when I needed you huh?âÂ
âI doubt Iâd have been your typeâÂ
âIntelligent, strong woman with a great sense of humor? And thats not even mentioning your ass.. Oh no, definitely not my typeâ He replied sarcastically.Â
âHa ha fine, Iâll take your word for it.âÂ
âIâd have taken you dancing, maybe gone to a show or even the carnival. Anything you wanted.â He took your hand in his again and kissed the back of it as he pondered just how heâd of won you over back then. He usually didn't like to dwell on life before the war, the pain of losing his family and the future he lost was too much but having you in his life somehow made the memories hurt less. Having you with him now along with the future he could picture with you helped him make peace with his past life and accept that it wasnât something he could ever go back to.Â
When Steve was returning the stones, he did wonder whether he should go back with him but the realisation that there wasnât anything waiting for him apart from a time that he didn't belong to made his decision to remain in the present resolute. And by god was he thankful he stayed.
On your way to your final hotel before arriving at Sams, youâd taken over the driving and had kept Bucky entertained with your off key singing and terrible car games.Â
âYouâve got to be fucking kidding meâ As it turns out, Bucky was a sore loser.Â
âWhat? It counts!!âÂ
âYou cannot see bacteria Y/NâÂ
âYes I can! Itâs right...right⊠right there!â You pointed to a random bit of the car interior and held back a laugh at a clearly unamused Bucky.
âYouâre so full of shitâÂ
âHow do you know I canât see it huh? Guess itâs my turn again, I spy with my little -âÂ
âNoâ He cut off as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. âAbsolutely not. Iâm going to choose a game.âÂ
You let out a little smile and continued focusing on the road until the super soldier landed on something he liked.Â
âOkay okay, would you rather sounds fun. Doll, would you rather have the superpower of being invisible or ability to fly.âÂ
âAw come on Buck these are tame! If I have to answer, without a doubt invisibility.âÂ
âNot dirty enough for you sweetheart?â A tingle rang down your spine at your new nickname. âIâd have to agree, invisibility easily.âÂ
âBuck youâre an actual superhero, youâve already got powers, leave some for us mere mortals!âÂ
â... you think Iâm a superhero?âÂ
â....youâre literally an Avenger.â You reached across towards the man beside you, keeping your eyes on the road as you pressed your hand against his forehead. âAre you feeling okay?âÂ
Bucky rolled his eyes at your sarcasm and swatted your hand away from his head. âFine you made your point.âÂ
You shook your head as you returned your hand to the steering wheel, tapping away to the song on the radio.Â
âThe rest of these questions are boringâ He muttered as he furiously scrolled through his cell.Â
âCâmon, go R ratedâÂ
âItâs no fun when I already know the answers to these!âÂ
âPfft doubtful, come on, hit meâÂ
âSpit or swallow, youâre a swallower doll.See?âÂ
âOkay okay! Youâre right, I give in. How about we just ask each other some questions?âÂ
âBut you already know everything,â He remarked, throwing a few cashews into his mouth.Â
âWhen did you first see me as someone other than a friend?â Youâd thrown him off guard with that question, his hand stuck in mid air as he went to throw more snacks into his mouth.Â
âWouldn't you rather know my most embarrassing sexual encounters?â He offered but was met with silence. âFineâŠâŠ. Iâve never seen you as just a friend. Yes we were friends before we became more and honestly Y/n if it never progressed further than just friendship I wouldâve been fine with it, more than fine with it yâknow? Meeting you was the best fucking thing-â âBuck, itâs okayâ Your hand reached out towards him and squeezed his thigh as you kept your eyes on the road.Â
âThereâs more⊠before we officially met in the lobby when that creep wouldnât leave you the fuck alone, Iâd seen you around. I was coming back from lunch with Yori and he was complaining about having gone for burgers instead of our usual and there you were, headphones in completely oblivious to the world and searching for your keys in your purse as usual. You were just so carefree - everything I wanted to be. And then a couple of days later we met and I was a goner.â
You bit your lip as you fought back a smile, overwhelmed by his honesty. It was a welcome feeling, knowing you werenât the only one that felt an attraction almost immediately.Â
âIâd seen you around too, before we officially met I mean. Itâs kind of hard to miss youâ You chuckled as you snuck a glimpse over at him and found him doing his usual glare. âIt was pretty early on for me as well, do you remember when we went for coffee?âÂ
âAnd you ordered us two cups of sugar? Yeah I rememberâÂ
âMocha Latteâs arenât bad for you⊠they just give you a bit of a buzzâÂ
âEspecially if you order extra creamâŠâÂ
âAnyway! Iâve always been attracted to you, Iâm not blind yâknow but after seeing this dark looming strong man consume a drink like that, and have some residue cream left on his lower lip mind you, I just knew that it was more than just a crush. Thereâs something oddly charming and attractive about seeing someone so intimidating be so soft. Itâs like Iâm the only one who gets to see that side of you and I love itâÂ
Bucky didn't quite know what to say, he was slightly flustered at the compliments you were throwing at him and by the knowledge that youâd been interested far earlier than he had ever dreamed of.Â
âWeâre idiots arenât we? For not realising sooner.âÂ
âOh without a doubtâ

Dead Hearts
Summary: The Red Room is destroyed and Natasha has some unresolved goodbyes to say.
Authorâs Note: alright I wasnât super happy with this bc I felt like it was kinda OOC but my beta reader said she rly liked it so here it is!
Warnings: torture, death, death of children, hypothermia, grief. Itâs sad alright
This is a song fic and itâs inspired by Dead Hearts by Stars
Tell me everything that happened
Tell me everything you saw
They had lights inside their eyes
They had lights inside their eyes
âJARVIS, show me the article,â Nat asked, her voice trembling ever so slightly.
âOf course, Ms. Romanoff.â
The headline streamed across the TV in her room. Russian training academy, Red Room, has been destroyed and burned by the US government.
Her stomach dropped. No. It canât be true. The Red Room doesnât just get destroyed. Thatâs not possible, itâs not true.
But it was. It was true. The Red Room had been reduced to a pile of burning cinder blocks.
She felt a strange feeling in her heart. She definitely wasnât nostalgic. The Red Room had kidnapped her from that house fire when she was 4, leaving her parents to die. They tortured her, made her into a killer, messed with her mind and memories.
They made her kill her friends.
When she had escaped when she was 16 and Clint had found her, she never looked back. She ran and ran because running was what she knew, it was all she knew.
But now, she couldnât run away. No, for once in her life, it was time to run towards something.
âJARVIS, is the quinjet fueled up?â
âYes, Ms. Romanoff, but-â
âGet me 29 roses please. Iâm leaving in 10 minutes.â JARVIS didnât answer her, but she knew he was listening.
It was late, around 2 in the morning. Tony would be in his lab. The others would hopefully be asleep. Clint⊠well, he was a wild card at night. He could be anywhere. But she had known him for years. She knew how to avoid him.
She threw some essentials in a bag before heading towards the quinjet. JARVIS had been listening, because a bundle of blood-red roses laid on the countertop.
She picked them up on her way out to one of the jets. She needed to do this. Not just for herself.
But for them.
-
Did you see the closing window?
Did you hear the slamming door?
They moved forward, and my heart died
They moved forward, and my heart died
-
âMr. Stark, Ms. Romanoff has just entered the roof.â
âWhat? Why?â Tony asked, actually pausing his newest project to listen to JARVIS.
âShe asked me to make sure one of the quinjets had fuel and to get her roses.â
âThatâs helpful,â Tony grumbled. âIs Barton still up?â
âMr. Barton is currently downstairs in the archery range.â
âTypical. Tell him to come up here, will ya J?â
âRight away, Mr. Stark.â
Tony didnât go back to his tinkering. He wanted to give Natasha her space, since sheâd probably kill him if he didnât. But at the same time, if this was something important, he didnât want her to be alone.
âTony? Whatâs up?â Clint had arrived in the lab, his bow on his back.
âHey, do you know if today is anything important for Nat? An anniversary or something?â
â...no? Not that I know of anyways. Why? She alright?â
âIâm not sure, Katniss. JARVIS just told me that she was going up to the jet with roses.â
âWhere is she going?â
âThe GPS coordinates are set for an area approximately 50 miles West of Vorkuta, Russia.â
âRussia? Why would she be going back to-â
âJARVIS, how many roses did she want?â Clint interjected.
â29, sir.â
âThatâs specific,â Tony commented.
Clint didnât say anything. He wordlessly picked up one of the laptops Tony had laying around and typed something into the search bar.
âOh no, Tasha⊠I knew you talked about it doing something, but...â
âWhat? What is it?â
Clint spun the laptop around for him to see. âThe Red Room. Itâs gone. And I think I know why sheâs going backâ
-
Please, please tell me what they looked like
Did they seem afraid of you?
They were kids that I once knew
They were kids that I once knew...
-
Even in a quinjet, the ride from New York to Northern Russia was pretty long, giving her plenty of time to think and contemplate.
She did not want to think. Not about the Red Room, or Madame B, or the other girls, anything.
You owe it to them to remember.
All of her memories before 16 were jumbled. But some things⊠some things canât be erased or altered by drugs.
She remembers their names. All of them. All 29.
She had been the youngest girl in her class of Black Widows. Some said that was a weakness. Others said it was an advantage.
But when they brought little Natalia Romanova to that place, still covered in burns and ash, she didnât care about becoming the Black Widow. She wanted her mother, and father, in their little one-bedroom apartment, with her stuffed rabbit Alexei. It was always cold in that apartment, but when she was snuggled between her mother and father, she felt safe.
She learned quickly that safety was not a feeling in the Red Room. That was something for children, and she was not a child. She was Natalia, made of marble.
On her first night there, when she had silently cried from the pain of cold metal handcuff cutting her wrist, one of the older girls had helped her. She was 8. Her name was Nadia.
Nadia had stolen one of the handcuff keys from the guards. She had unlocked the cuffs and hugged her. Made her a makeshift doll out of an old sock and toilet paper. Told her stories of magic and heros.
In the morning, they found out about what Nadia had done. They punished her until she couldnât scream anymore. Just before they killed her, she looked at Natalia. âItâs okâ, she whispered. Just before they pulled the trigger.
Magic had not been in that place in a very long time.
After Nadia had been killed, Natalia funneled her grief and fear into her training. She rose to the top, taking down girls who were twice her age and twice her size. She used untraditional methods on the mat, using her legs to take them down since that was where she was strongest.
Her handlers were very impressed with her sudden prowess. She became the best dancer, best fighter, best liar. She picked up the languages quickly. She was as stoic as stone, never flinching or backing down from the threat of a punishment.
They never knew what fueled her excellence. Never knew that she was motivated by rage and grief. For her parents. For Nadia.
When she turned 9 years old, she decided that it was time to repay her debt to Nadia. There was a new girl, the last one for their class. The thirtieth. Sasha.
No one knew what had happened to Sasha. But they did know that she was good. She was unwavering, unmoving. During the day, anyways.
At night, Natalia could hear the girl in the bed next to her trying to muffle her cries. She took out the key that one of the guards had foolishly left in the washrooms. She carefully unlocked her own cuff and Sashaâs.
She rubbed her back silently. Rebraided her French braids that had come undone in the night. Made her a crude doll out of an old sock and toilet paper. Just as Nadia had done for her.
The next morning, Natalia had waited all day for someone to take her to a room to be killed. But they never did. They hadnât been caught.
Sasha and Natalia continued their routine every night. It was nice to have a friend in a place where friends were a myth.
They were friends for 2 years. They learned to master sneaking around. When Sasha turned 11, someone took her into a room alone. They did this all the time for training, interrogation practice, or just a mental test.
When Sasha didnât come back that night, she knew something was wrong.
She never saw Sasha again. She didnât know what happened to her. She still didnât.
âLanding in 10 minutes,â the jet intercom told her. A wave of anxiety washed over her. She didnât want to be here. She wanted to turn around, go home, and never come back.
She hated the memories associated with this place. This was the closest she had ever been in the 12 years since Clint saved her. She avoided it like the plague.
The clearing the jet had landed in was still about 2 miles from the old academy. She pulled her coat and hat on and began her march through the barren fields and forest.
Tank tops and shorts. No shoes, she thought to herself. When she was 13, Madame B had given them all black tank tops and shorts. She took away their combat boots and forced them out into the bitter winds.
âOnly the strongest will survive this challenge. Only those worthy of the Black Widow title will make it through this. If you are not ready, well, hypothermia isnât a bad way to go,â she had told them. 2 girls out of the remaining 18 had died that day.
Then they had gone inside to train. The cold made their muscles achey and stiff, but the Red Room was not a place for complaints.
Then they did it all again the next day.
By the end of the week, 7 of the remaining 18 girls were dead, either from exhaustion or the cold. 11 remained from a group that was once 30.
Anastasia. Irina. Svetlana. Alina. Manya. Eva. Kyana.
Their dead hearts were everywhere. The lights inside their eyes extinguished. Theyâre still out there. And she still cares.
She always will.
-
I could say it, but you won't believe me
You say you do, but you don't deceive me
It's hard to know they're out there
It's hard to know that you still care
-
Pepper, Tony, Clint, Bruce, Thor, Steve, and Fury had all boarded a jet to Russia as soon as Clint told them what had happened. They werenât going to let her go through this alone.
Natasha Romanoff liked to pretend she didnât feel things. But they were her family. And family helped each other.
They all sat in silence. Natasha only had an hour on them, but that was still an hour where she was alone and hurting. Even Tony didnât say anything.
Clint was playing with the spider necklace he always wore. Natasha had a matching one with an arrow. It was a symbol of how deep their friendship went.
Fury was completely still. He had his arms resting on his knees, looking straight ahead. His lips were more downturned than usual, and his forehead was more tense. You could only tell if you had known him for a long time, but Fury was upset. Upset that the woman he looked at as a daughter had to relive this. That she even had to live through it at all.
Clint and Fury were probably getting hit the hardest. They knew the most about what went down in the Red Room. They knew the most about how painful this had to be for their friend.
As the jet lightly set down in the field near the jet that Natasha had taken, they all prepared to walk the 2 miles in the cold weather.
The ground beneath their feet was completely frozen. Permafrost. Snowflakes rushed around their faces. It was painfully beautiful.
The sound of dried grass and leaves under their feet was the only sound on their walk. The wind whistled in their ears. The cold air bit into their exposed skin like needles.
Clintâs breath caught in his throat when he saw her.
She was standing on a pile of rubble with her back to them. Her flaming red hair was flying in the wind. In her arms was the bouquet of roses. Each rose had a note attached, written in Natashaâs small, elegant penmanship.
As Clint looked closer, he saw what the notes were. Names. All of them.
If Nat had realized they were there, she made no move to acknowledge them.
She just stood there. As if she was in shock. To be honest, she mightâve been.
âSometimes, I swear I can see them,â Natasha spoke. She sounded so⊠broken. âEverywhere. In the reflection of a window. When I heard a door slam, it was like they were right there like they used to be. Like how they were in here.â
They all stayed quiet. She needed to get this out.
âItâs like theyâre following me. Protecting me. I miss them. I miss them all.â
âInna, Katrina, Larisa, Polina, and Oksana were the first 5 to go.â She held the 5 flowers tightly in her hand, like if she squeezed it tightly enough, she could bring them back. â5, 7, 6, 4, and 8. Iâm sorry I couldnât save you,â she whispered. Her emotions were coming to the surface, hidden by a thin veil of control.
âRaisa, Sonya, Ulyana, Vanka. I didnât know any of you. Not personally. But all of you deserved so much better than what you got.â
âLuda, Lubov, and Klara. You were 8 years old. Triplets. Nothing could come between you three. Not the Red Room. Not even death.â
Clint started to move closer towards his best friend. He could see the way she was shaking.
âThat week when we stood outside for hours. The cold and exhaustion took 7. Anastasia, Irina, Svetlana, Alina, Manya, Eva, Kyana. I hope that you werenât in pain when you died. I hope youâre finally resting.â
Only 10 roses were left in her arms, the other 19 laid out on the ground in front of her. The bright red petals contrasted sharply with the grey cinder blocks and white snow.
âYelizaveta. Liz. We were in actual hell together, and yet you somehow managed to make me smile with your fucked-up sense of humor. In a place like that, dark humor is the only kind you have.â A small smile joined the tears running down her face. âI hope Iâll see you again one day.â
âTaisiya, Sonechka, Nikita, Mischa, Maya, Luda. You were all so smart. And so strong. You fought harder than everyone. Even now, I have yet to meet someone as smart as you six, and 2 of my best friends have more than one PhD,â she laughed.
She was down to the final three roses. Clint put his arm around her. The dam was threatening to break any moment now.
âNadia.â She let her tears fall for Nadia. âI wouldnât be alive without you. I wouldnât have gotten to meet my family. I wouldnât have gotten to become an aunt without you.â Clint had already been crying, they all had, even Fury, but that had struck him deep in his heart. âI owe you. And Iâm sorry. Iâm so sorry,â she choked out. She bit her lip to keep it from trembling as she gently set the rose down on the ground.
âWhen I was 14, we had to do torture training.â Pepper let out a small gasp. âAfter I had finished the whipping and electrocution day, Anya split her bread with me. She cleaned the cuts that I couldnât reach. In the morning, I-â Her voice began to crack. âThey made me be the one to kill her. She was 15.â She set Anyaâs rose on the ground next to the others. âYou didnât deserve it, Anya. You were always so good. Better than I ever was.â
âSasha. Sasha and I were best friends,â she let out a small bittersweet laugh. âWhen I was with her, I felt like, maybe, we could lead normal lives. Escape. Be happy. One day, when we were 11, they took her away and never brought her back.â She held the rose with Sasha written on it in her hand. âIâm sorry, Sash. Iâm so, so sorry. For everything.â
âYou forgot one,â Clint whispered. He held out one more red rose. âNatalia Romanova. A little girl orphaned in a fire, who did what she had to do to survive. Who walked through hell and back and still found herself a family and a home.â He set the rose down with the others.
âIâm sorry. Iâm so sorry,â she cried. Clint hugged her tightly as they sank to the ground.
âWe were all so young. We were all kids. Just kids,â she sobbed into his shoulder.
Years upon years, over 2 decades worth of grief, sadness, fear, rage, and pain came pouring out. She had been bottling these feelings up for 24 years, shoving them down, and now they were finally being released. Finally being set free.
âThey were kids that I once knew. They were kids that I once knew...â
-
Now theyâre all dead hearts to you.
They were kids that I once knew
They were kids that I once knew
Now they're all dead hearts to you
Now they're all dead hearts to you
They were kids that I once knew
They were kids that I once knew
Now they're all dead hearts to you...

Stark Spangled Forever- Utter Nonsense Drabble... 40 Questions!
Yeah so donât ask me where this came from, but I saw these floating around and for some reason decided it would be funny if Steve and Katie answered some of them instead of me...
I think the original post was from @odaatloverâ and I think I was taggeed by @sweater-daddiesdumbdorkâ. Anyway, I took my favourite ones and this was the result...enjoy!
1. Whatâs one animal you wish you could have as a pet but canât?
Katie: Iâd kinda like a tiger. Theyâre so graceful and pretty but pack a mean bite and you wouldnât mess with one would you?
Steve: Who does that remind you of?
2. Favorite thing to wear to sleep?
Steve: (grinning) Nothing.
Katie : I can confirm that is also my favourite thing he sleeps in...
3. What song really gets you going?
Katie: In what way? If itâs to dance and just act like a crazy fool to then its always going to be âBack in Blackâ because it reminds me a lot of Tony and happy times growing up. But if its one to spark memories then its our wedding song.
Steve: âThe Only One In Colorâ by Trapt. I also kinda like the John Legend song  âYou and Iâ because it reminds me of her, you know, the bit aout trying on every damned out fit she ownes before we can go out.
Katie: I donât do that.
Steve looks at Katie, eyebrow raising.
Katie:Â Ok, maybe I can be a little incecisive....but tha wasnât really the point of the...you know what, never mind. Next...
4. Where do you usually eat your meals?
Steve: It depends. If its breakfast or lunch dring the week then itâs usual eaten on the go whilst weâre getting the kids sorted or Iâm in between classes...but dinner, well we always try and sit down. And at weekends we always eat at the table with the kids.Â
5. Favorite meal: breakfast, lunch, or dinner?
Katie: Dinner. During the week Steve and I eat a little bit later than the kids so we have that time to ourselves just to decompress and talk about our day, have a bit of us time...and at weekend weâre al together so I love it.
Steve: I love it for all those reasons, and also because sheâs the best damned cook on the planet.
6. Most embarrassing habit?
Katie: Erm...
Steve: Itâs pretty embarassing when you throw a Brat tantrum about something.. Katie: I donât do that in public.
Steve: Bullshit. I refer you to the whole car purchasing situation a few years ago.
Katie: Jamie was only a baby...I was hormonal.
Steve: Hormonal my ass, you were being a brat.
Katie: Whatever. Yours is definately the need to stand with your hands on your hips and give someone your Captain look, especially when itâs someone you have never met before but they just happen to be doing something to piss you off.
Steve: I make no apologies for this. People can be idiots.
7. Chocolate or fruity candy?
Both at same time: Chocolate.
Steve: Preferably British. Cadburyâs to be specific. I got a taste for it when I was in London during the war.
Katie: He has a secret stash he hides from the kids...itâs great to blackmail him with.
8. Soft or hard tacos?
Steve: Soft
Katie: Hard
Steve: Although hard ones always remind me of when you went into labour with Jamie. We were making them for lunch and you had a contraction and crushed one...
Katie: Oh yeah, maybe soft in that case...because that was painful. And then I went throguh that another 3 times.Which is your fault.
Steve: I take full responsibility, yes.Â
9. Worst way to break up a fight?
Katie: Walk into the middle of it and say âProve it, put the hamer down...â Steve: sighs, That was one time.
Katie: And it levelled a forest.
Steve: Did it work?
Katie: Hmmm, suppose so.
Steve: There you go ...but if its a fight between us, the I can think of the best way to break it up...
Katie : grinning, yeah...thatâ s pretty funny. Or the worst one is telling you youâre in the spare room.
Steve: Yeah...that sucks.
10. Best thing to say in an elevator of strangers?
Katie: Putting on deep voice âBefore we get started, does anyone wanna get out?â
Steve: Sighing I wish I had some smart reply to that bu I donât...
Katie: No, you just threw us out the side of the damned thing from 14 storeys up
Steve: 19
Katie: Thatâs...thatâs not better Steve.
11. Any hidden talents?
Steve: Not so much hidden really but Iâm not a bad artist and Katieâs singing and piano playing is off the scale.
Katie: Steveâs really good at DIY. Like, brilliantly good. And also pretty savvy with technology all things considered...
Steve: When you say all things considered you mean because Iâm like 112
Katie: Actually, youâre like 127 if you count the 15 years you spent back in time after putting the stones back.
Steve: hesitates I thought you said they didnât count because I didnât spend them with you.
Katie: They donât, but they still happened.
12. Socks or bare feet around the house?
Steve: Socks
Katie: Bare feet
Steve: Neither of those protect you from standing on lego, which for the record, I reckon has to be a pain worse than chilbirth.
Katie:Â Seriously? Youâre going there?
Steve: Ok, maybe thatâs a slight exaggeration but it still hurts like hell.
13: Favorite board game?
Katie: Monopoly. Its funny to watch Emmy and Jamie getting really agitated and annoyed. The younger 3 donât really get it, Rori just likes to help Steve by sorting all his money into piles and suggesting things he can spend it on.
Steve: Namely tutus and tap shoes...she still wants to be chorus girl.
14:Heat on or keep it cold with lots of layers?
Katie: Oh my God. Steve is a nightmare as he runs hotter than any of us, so whilst we want the fire or heat on heâs complaining heâs boiling hot all the time. Our bedroom is like an ice block.
Steve: Doll, Iâve been in an ice block. Trust me, our bedroom is like a furnace in comparison.
Katie: It si nice though, like sleeping with a big hot water bottle.
15: At what age did you first have alcohol?
Katie: Iâm sure Tony gave me beer when I was 15 or something but the first time I ever got drunk was aged 17. I went to a keg party at one of my friends and I was aboslutely shit faced. Tony held my hair back whilst i puked my guts upt for a good hour once I was home. I had the hangover to end all hangovers the next day and he cracked JARVIS up to maximum volume just to teach me a lesson.
Steve:Â I think I was 18. Me and Buck drank a bottle of his dadâs home made hooch...yeah, it didnât take me much to get me drunk back then and I was very, very illl. Ma thought I had a fever. Mr Barnes thought it was hilarious, but still gave us both a slap upside th head...
16. Whatâs the most amount of money youâve spent on a single item of clothing?
Katie: I would say my wedding dress, but Tony bought that for me, so it would probably the the dress I wore to the SIP Launch for The Color Of Revenge...that cost...well it was in the tens of thousands
Steve:Â Blinking How much?
Katie: You donât need to know.
17. What do you typically wear to formal events?
Steve: Whatever my gal tells me to.
Katie: And you always look great Soldier.
18. Favorite memory?
Steve: Oooh, other than when we adopted Emmy or the kids were born, Iâd have to say when Katie agreed to be my wife. Iâll never forget that day as long as I live.
Katie: Me neither, not least becase I got my camero...
Steve: rolls eyes.
Katie:Â Joking aside, yeah the engagement sticks in my mind but I think it was when you finally kissed me for the first time. I knew then that I was never gonna let you go.
Steve: yeah...that...ok you know what this is an impossible question after being together for so long.
19. Favorite shoes?
Katie: I have a pair of sparkly gold Jimmy Choo stilettoes that Iâve had for ages. Theyâre gorgeous, with ankle straps and pointed toes. Iâve had them for almost 17 years but theyâre amazin.
Steve: grins. Yeah, theyâre my favourite shoes too...
Katie: Pervert.
Steve: Iâm not even gonna deny it. Those shoes ALWAYS stay on if I can help it.
20. Most dangerous thing youâve ever done?
Both start to laugh hysterically.
Steve: Where do we start?
Katie: New York, Washington, Sokovia, Lagos, Leipzig, Siberia, Wakanda, Upstate and proablly a whole load of other places in between could be good places Stevie.
Steve: Yeah, this...I canât answer this.Â
21. Most embarrassing thing your parents have caught you doing?
Katie: I was 7 when my parents died but taking Tony as surrogate, I reckon him catching us in the kitchen when we were...you know, and he didnât actually know about us has got to be up there.
Steve: Yeah, that was pretty bad... although my Ma once caught me and Bucky measuring our... looks down.
Katie: splutters What? You never told me this?
Steve: Well its not exactly somethign that crops up in conersation sweethheart? âOh by the way, once when we were 16 me and Buck compared sizes...â Katie: Blinks. Boys are strange. So who had the biggest...
Steve: Next question...
22. Last time you had an orgasm?
Both grin.
Steve: Last nightÂ
Katie: I can confrim this...thereâs not many nights to be fair where we donât...
23: Celebrity Crushes?
Katie: grins. Does Bucky Barnes count?
Steve: Fuck you.
24: Makeup or natural?
Katie: Normally I just wear a bit of tinted moisturiser and mascara, now I have the kids anyway. I donât have time to really do my face in a morning. Iâll make the effort when we go out though...
Steve: You donât need it honey.
Katie: Awww thanks baby.
Steve: Although that red lipstick you wear, the bright red..yeah...I like that... grins wickedly and winks It smears well...
Katie flushes: dirt bag
25. Favorite season?
Katie: Summer. Growing up in Malibu I like the sun and warmth.
Steve: Fall. Itâs an artists dream...the colours and textures are amazing to work with
Katie: Fall is rubbish. Everything dies and itâs a bit shit.
Steve: But you make apple pie and get to snuggle in my sweaters.
Katie: literally the only 2 things good about it.Â
26. Are you a competitive person?
Katie snorts and looks at Steve
Steve: Iâm not even going to deny it.Â
Katie: He even refuses to let the kids win a games sometimes.
Steve: Important life lessons, Doll.Â
27. First pet youâve ever owned?
Katie: My goldfish Flounder, the one that Tony replaced about 8 times. Other than that it was my Turkey Marv, he was ace.
Steve: I didnât have any growing up so mine would be Lucky. He was a great dog.Â
28. Favorite pasta dish?
Steve: Mac and Cheese, specifically Katieâs. Itâs amazing.
Katie smiling: Yeah I like Mac and Cheese, but I also enjoy carbonara.
29. Favorite kind of pizza?
Both: Pepperoni.
Steve: New York Style.
Katie: I like Deepdish every now and then.
Steve: Itâs not the same...
Katie: well dur, thatâs the point.
Steve: Yeah, not convinced.Â
30. Lots of acquaintances or a handful of close friends?
Katie: Handful of close friends, without a doubt. They become an extension of your family, you know. All of us in the Avengers were close and when you have that bond, youâll do anything for one another.
Steve: Agree completely. When youâre close like we all are then it makes everything that little bit easier, knowing that whatever youâre facing youâve got each others 6.
31: Something that ruins your appetite?
Katie: Narrows eyes Whenver I see Ross on Tv. Makes me want to puke.
Steve: You really should let that go you know?
Katie: Never. I hold a grudge very well.
Steve: Donât I know it.
32. Night out with a bunch of friends in public or night in with one friend having deep conversations?
Steve: Iâve never been one for big nights out. I enjoy the odd one now and then but, Iâd much rather curl up on the sofa or round the firepit with Katie or Sam or Bucky with a beer and some decent talk.
Katie: Yeah, at one time I would have said night out hands down, but certianly since having the kids, or even since we started dating, itâs definately change my ideas a little. Some of the nicest nights weâve had have been spent on the sofa.
Steve grins: yeah...
Katie: And not just because of that....
33. Have you ever told someone you loved them first?
Steve: Iâve only ever told one girl I loved them and sheâs sat right here, and I said it first that night...
Katie: smiling Yeah, yeah you did. I wasnât far behind though, like 3 seconds or something.
34. Have you ever had sex on the first date?
Katie: Does a one night stand count as a first date? Because if so then yes...
Steve: Same.
Katie: Lottie?
Steve: Storm?
Both look at one another, teasingly.
Katie: Ok next question...
35. Heroes or villains?
Steve: Some people might say thereâs a fine line between the two. Katie: Oh here he goes, getting all Captain Philosophical again...look, everyone knows we were suposedly the heroes Steve, and to be fair we saved the world a fair few times, we were even fighting in the shadows during the Nomad years.
Steve: I know, I know...
36. How many plates can you eat at a buffet?
Steve: You know Iâve never actually counted.
Katie: You did 20 at the last brunch we went to.
Steve: 20...thatâs...impressive.
Katie: smirking Bucky did 22
Steve: sighs Of course he did...
37: Favorite dessert?
Steve: Apple pie, preferably Katieâs
Katie: Pecan pie. Hands down.Â
38 Would you rather watch a TV show or a movie?
Steve: Ooh, thatâs..i suppose it depends. I do like a good TV series, especially if we can curl up and binge watch once the kids are going to bed but I do have fond memories of us working through the films on my list...
Katie: smiling, yeah we had a lot of fun. Still
39. Whatâs your favorite compliment to give?
Steve: I love telling Katie how beautiful she is, and what a wonderful mother she is...all of which is true.
Katie: I like to remind Steve that heâs my Steve Rogers, not Captain America...because he is. And heâs the most amazing man on the planet, with or withouth that serum coursing through his veins. Which is what makes him the best dad the kids could wish for.
40. Whatâs the luckiest thing thatâs ever happened to you?
Steve: smiling, sheâs sat right next to me.
Katie: smiling , back at ya soldier.

I believe so. Describe your sense of humor. I honestly donât know. Like, I like corny, punny, cheesy jokes, but apart from that Iâm not sure how to describe it. People will show me stuff they think is funny and they can be dying of laughter and I can be straight-faced or just give a little chuckle or blow air out of my nose, ha. So yeah, itâs hard to explain. Random stuff will just really strike me as funny. And even if I do think something is amusing, it doesnât always mean Iâm laughing hysterically ya know? 1101.
1 - What have you been up to so far today? Is that a typical thing for you to do on this particular day of the week? >> I ate breakfast, watched some Youtube, and took a walk. Those are pretty typical things for me to do any day of the week.
2 - Did you get a decent nightâs sleep last night? How many hourâs sleep do you consider a decent amount? >> I did. I donât really measure it in hours, just in how I feel in the morning. It mostly depends on whether itâs consistent sleep as opposed to interrupted sleep.
3 - What is one silly thing that really gets on your nerves? >> I guess being misophonic can be seen to others as âa silly thing that gets on my nervesâ. Although I certainly wouldnât describe it that way myself.
4 - Who was the last person you saw who wasnât family? What did you guys end up doing together? >> ---
5 - Do you prefer hot or cold drinks overall? >> I donât have a preference overall, I just am more likely to drink hot drinks in the winter.
6 - Do you own a decent set of waterproofs? If so, what do you use them for the most? If not, do you think that would be something youâd find useful? >> I donât even know what that is.
7 - Do you have any plans for the rest of the day? >> Nah. I mean, Iâll probably play some FFXIV later on, but itâs not a hard plan. Just a âIâll probably be in the mood for that at some pointâ.
8 - How often do you get your hair cut? When hairdressers were closed due to COVID, did you try cutting it yourself at home? >> I buzz my head every couple of weeks or so. Iâve always done it myself.
9 - What did you wear the last time you left the house? Is that different to what youâre wearing at the moment? >> Sweats, a thermal shirt, a coat, and a scarf. Itâs different in every way except the sweatpants.
10 - Would you rather have a relaxing beach holiday or a more active holiday in the mountains? >> I would find being in the mountains relaxing even if the activities (hiking, or whatever) were technically more strenuous. I would mostly find the beach boring, once I got my fill of watching the ocean.
11 - Do you know how to tie a tie? >> Yeah.
12 - How old were you when you first had a sleepover at someoneâs house? Did you miss home? >> ---
13 - How often do you spend time with your extended family? >> ---
14 - When you get up in the morning, do you have a set routine? >> Not set in stone, no. But I do follow certain âcheckpointsâ, I guess? Like, getting out of bed and going to the toilet and brushing my teeth is a checkpoint; once thatâs done, Iâve moved into a different part of the day.
15 - Do you remember the last time you cried? Were they sad or happy tears? >> I cry so often that I donât even remember specific moments anymore.
16 - What do you have planned once you finish this survey? >> I havenât decided. Part of the reason I took this survey is because after I took the one before this, I couldnât figure out what I wanted to do next, and taking another survey was the path of least resistance, lol.
17 - What was the last thing you cooked? Did you cook from scratch or just heat something up? >> The last food item I prepared was a veggie burger that I heated in the microwave.
18 - Are you a fan of hot chocolate? Do you like it plain or do you prefer to add things like whipped cream or marshmallows? >> My answer has been ânoâ for almost all of my life and now that my answer is âyesâ itâs so weird, lol. But yes, I have randomly stumbled into a love for hot cocoa. By which I mean just cocoa powder and milk and cinnamon and maybe a little vanilla extract and sugar.
19 - What caused your last injury? >> I donât remember my last injury.
20 - How many tattoos and piercings do you have? Do any of them have an interesting story behind them? >> Three tattoos and three piercings (if I count each earlobe as a separate piercing). I mean, I canât imagine not having a story behind a tattoo (piercings are easier to just pop into a place and get without really putting a whole lot of thought or effort behind it, I feel; not so with tattoos -- even stumbling into a place drunk and picking a flash art is a story to me...).
21 - What kind of flowers do you like the best? When was the last time someone bought those for you? >> Sunflowers. Sparrowâs mother sent over sunflowers and some other things in a bouquet for Thanksgiving, but I donât really consider that as being bought for me specifically, so. I donât know. Oh, Iâm pretty sure Sparrow bought a sunflower at the farmerâs market at some point this year. So, then.
22 - Whatâs the smallest thing youâve ended a relationship over? >> ---
23 - Would you rather order a starter (appetiser) or a dessert? Or would you be able to manage a full three courses? >> That depends on what I want to eat at that time? And no, I donât usually eat three courses because thatâs just too much food. Sometimes I only order an app or two, not even an entree.
24 - How do you get most of your news, if you pay attention to it at all? >> I rarely get news at all, except for what trickles down to me from other peopleâs discussions on social media.
25 - Have you or a member of your family been diagnosed with COVID yet? >> No.
26 - Are you a vegetarian? If so, what persuaded you to stop eating meat? If not, is it something youâd ever consider? >> Iâm not a vegetarian, but I have a pretty low average meat consumption. I just prefer it this way.
27 - Do you prefer rice or pasta? >> I do eat a lot of rice, but I donât think I prefer it over pasta or anything.
28 - Is anything youâre wearing a gift? Who bought it for you? >> No.
29 - Whatâs the dominant colour in the room youâre in at the moment? >> I donât know, off-white? Because thatâs what colour the walls are?
30 - Did you do laundry yet today? If not, do you need to do any before you go to bed? >> No. Saturday is laundry day.

Sage Storyline + Fact File
Note- This file contains her canon, RP, and future story information. I will mostly be talking about her canon storyline, however anything that differs in the rp storyline I will be writing at the end of the file.Â
Warning- Brief mentions of parent death, abandonment, and bullying. Nothing descriptive or angsty, this isnât a story just a fact file, but Iâm adding warnings anyway. Also, it's really long
Full Name- Sage Celia Brooks Birthday- August 15th Age: Canon- 18 Search History (rp) - 21 Future- 26 Hometown- Eyton, Northern Ninjago (Blood) Family- Aster Brooks (deceased), Lily Brooks (deceased) (Found) Family- Asher Woodman (older brother figure), Marion Nettle (younger brother figure) (Future) Family- Willow Woodman (Niece), Cedar Woodman (Niece), Katlyn Woodman (Sister in law) Hair- Black, down her back, ponytail braid or side braid Eyes- Silver Height- 5â3
Canon Story- Sage grew up in a village known as Eyton. Itâs a very traditional and old fashioned village, and they aren't fond of outsiders, typically viewing them as trouble unless they were invited by a higher member of the village. The Brooks had moved there a year before Sage was born. They, of course, had permission from the village leader to live in Eyton. However, most of the village still stuck up their noses. While Lily and Aster were aware of the village 's bias, things didn't go down hill until someone died on a fishing boat Aster was working on. A couple of weeks later, someone almost died from an allergic reaction to one of Lily's pastries.Â
Rumors started spiraling that the Brooks were omens of death, and bad luck. When Sage was 7, an illness ran through the town, killing many. The Brooks were the last family to catch it, Sage was the only family member to survive. The village had a new leader by then, and he decided that the village needn't waste resources on the child of two "bad/death omens". So she was cast out of the village. She spent years blaming every bad thing that happened around her on herself, because as a child she was told she was bad luck. After two years of wandering, she came to a village with a stone wolf statue in the center. A group of town kids cornered her, and were pushing her around. At least until a white haired boy stepped in, fighting off the bullies. He didnât turn to check on Sage or introduce himself, he just walked off. Sage didnât think she would see him again. That night, a skeleton horde attacked the village. Hiding under an elevated porch, Sage spotted the white haired boy from earlier getting chased by some skeletons. Thinking quickly, she yanked him under the porch before the Skeletons could find him again. He introduced himself as Asher, and they both spent the night under that porch, hiding from the horde. The next day, Asher offered to teach Sage how to live on the streets. They would be partners, relying on each other to survive. They traveled from village to village; pick pocketing and stealing from stall owners. When Sage was 11, Asher got them a job. A thief named Ronin was willing to hire them for their help on a job (Note: not rp canon). Sage was reluctant at first, but didnât want Asher to be alone on the job. So, she agreed to take the job. This started Sageâs long life of crime. Ronin (Not rp canon) hired them for a couple more jobs and passed their name onto some clients and fellow thieves. They made quite the name for themselves, well known in the underground as the âPartners in Crimeâ. Kind of cheesy and clichĂ©, but eh, what you going to do. Years later, at age 16(around 19 in rp universe), Sage decided to turn a bit of a new leaf. A temporary turn around. She helped defend citizens against the SOG, even helping some of Ultra Violetâs targets get to hiding. This of course placed her on UVâs wanted list. During one of her rescues, Sage encountered Mr. E (not rp canon). Remarkably, she managed to escape, and it didnât seem like the incident was ever reported. One day, Sage was wandering along some rooftops when she spotted a group of SOG members bothering an older woman. She was preparing to fire a few arrows at the members, when a kid threw rotting tomatoes at them, taunting them. The members gave chase, running after the kid until they had him cornered in an alley. Sage shot the members down and brought the kid to the apartment she shared with Asher. The kid introduced himself as Marion, and unbeknownst to him, he was an EM. In the years that followed, Sage did her best to help Marion master his abilities. She wasnât able to help him that much, but the fact that she believed in him gave Marion a boost in confidence. (This next part isnât Rp canon) Three years later, Sage ended up helping a young man with a green hair streak hide from a group of muggers. She invited him to hide at their home for a while, and he ended up joining the group. He introduced himself as Morro. Morro never took on any thieving jobs, choosing to freelance with lifting and loading jobs instead. He also helped mentor Marion on his element and taught him to be a ninja. Sageâs future- When she turns 23, Sage officially leaves the crime life. Her parents taught her good morals and she honestly couldnât handle the guilt of everything she had done. However, she didnât turn herself into the cops because she didnât want to leave her brothers. Instead, she helps run a branch location of a tea shop some close friends ran. She continues to be a supportive figure for her brothers. She often provides advice and a listening ear for Marionâs trainees, Calvinâs niece and nephews, and Asherâs daughters.
Rp storyline changes: - Ronin isnât the thief that introduces Sage and Asher to the life of crime. A thief named Seth did. - Sage leaves the life of crime at the age of 21 to provide Marion with a more normal life. There was also some encouragement from Lloyd. - Sage has yet to meet Morro and he does not join the Partners in Crime - Sage did not face Mr. E during the SOG takeover - This hasnât been brought up yet, but she and Asher did not help kidnap Zane in rp universe - The SOG never attempted to hire them in RP universe - They never stole Borg tech in the RP universe - IâŠthink thatâs it?

A fellow thief for hire taught Asher and Sage. - Uses fake names on jobs, gives cops fake names, and goes under a fake name for things like her driverâs license, id, and other such things. Currently her ânameâ is Mei Baker. - âMei Bakerâ has a completely clean slate and no jail records. - Built/repurposed her motorcycle, Asherâs motorcycle, and their pickup by herself. - Her motorcycle is her baby and if you break it she will break you. Taught herself mechanics and medical stuff - Got all of her education from libraries, everything she knows about math, history, etc. is self taught - Loves Harry Potter books: Sheâs a Gryffindor if you must know - She was 17 when she got her tattoos. - The chain tattoo represents how she feels trapped by her past and regrets - The raven tattoo represents a death omen, the hyacinth the raven is carrying represents an apologyÂ
- She picked up roof running to help with jobs, it became a hobby later on
- âŠâŠShe used to pretend she was a ninja while roof running. It was a small phase when she was a kid, lasted half a month. Sheâs very embarrassed by it. -Tried to teach herself guitar, but they moved around too much for her to focus on it. - Ill end this here its getting waaayyyy to long lol

What Importance Points you have  to Know About Magic Mushroom Use
Magic mushrooms are wild or cultivated mushrooms that contain psilocybin, a naturally-occurring psychoactive and hallucinogenic compound. Psilocybin is considered one of the most well-known psychedelics, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administrations.1
Psilocybin is classified as a Schedule I drug, meaning that it has a high potential for misuse and has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
Although certain cultures have known to use some mushrooms' > hallucinogenic properties. for centuries, psilocybin was first isolated in 1958 by Dr. Albert Hofmann, who also discovered lysergic acid diethylamide .
Magic mushrooms are often prepared by drying and are eaten by being mixed into food or drinks, although some people eat freshly picked magic mushrooms.
Also Known As: Magic mushrooms are also known as shrooms, mushies, blue meanies, golden tops, liberty caps, philosopher's stones, liberties, amani, and agaric.
Drug Class:Â Psilocybin is classified as a hallucinogen.
Common Side Effects:Â Magic mushrooms are known to cause nausea, yawning, feeling relaxed or tired, subjective experience, nervousness, paranoia, panic, hallucinations, and psychosis.
How to Recognize Shrooms.
Mushrooms containing psilocybin look liked dried ordinary mushrooms with long, slender stems that are whitish-gray and dark brown caps with light brown or white in the center. Dried mushrooms are rusty brown with isolated areas of off-white.
Magic mushrooms can be eaten, mixed with food, or brewed like tea for drinking. They can also be combined with cannabis or tobacco and smoked. Liquid psilocybin is also available, which is the naturally occurring psychedelic drug found in liberty caps. The liquid is clear brown and comes in a small vial. If you want to   Buy Magic Mushrooms USA. We have the best selection of mushrooms known for strength and effects with quick worldwide guaranteed delivery.
What Do Magic Mushrooms Do?
Magic mushrooms are hallucinogenic drugs, meaning they can cause you to see, hear, and feel sensations that seem real but are not. The effects of magic mushrooms, however, are highly variable and believed to be influenced by environmental factors.2
Shrooms have a long history of being associated with spiritual experiences and self-discovery. Many believe that naturally occurring drugs like magic mushrooms, weed.d, and mesca . are sacred herbs that enable people to attain superior mental states. Others take magic mushrooms to experience a sense of euphoria, connection, and a distorted sense of time.
The psilocybin found in shrooms is converted to psilocin in the body and is believed to influence serotonin levels in the brain, leading to altered and unusual perceptions. The effects take 20 to 40 minutes to begin and can last up to 6 hoursâthe same amount of time it takes for psilocin to be metabolized and excreted.3
A number of factors influence the effects of magic mushrooms, including dosage, age, weight, personality, emotional state, environment, and history of mental illness.
What the Experts Say?
While magic mushrooms are often sought out for a peaceful high, shrooms have been reported to induce anxiety, frightening hallucinations, paranoia, and confusion in some.4 In fact, most hospital admissions related to the use of magic mushrooms are connected to colloquially known as a "bad trip."
Off-Label or Recently Approved Uses
Magic mushrooms have been used for thousands of years for both spiritual and medicinal uses among indigenous people of America and Europe.
In 2018, researchers from John Hopkins University recommended reclassification of the drug from Schedule I to Schedule IV in order to allow for medical use. Studies suggest that psilocybin can be used to treat cancer-related psychiatric distress, depression, anxiety, nicotine addiction, and substance use disorders.3
In 2019, Denver became the first city to decriminalize mushrooms. Oakland became the second city less than a month later. This does not mean that shrooms are legal but that the city is not permitted to "spend resources to impose criminal penalties" on people in possession of the drug.
Common Side Effects
All hallucinogens carry the risk of triggering mental and emotional problems and causing accidents while under the influence. Among adolescents, magic mushrooms are frequently taken in combination with alcohol and other drugs, increasing the psychological and physical risks.
The amount of psilocybin and psilocin contained in any given magic mushroom is unknown, and mushrooms vary significantly in the amounts of psychoactive contents. This means it's tough to tell the length, intensity, and type of "trip" someone will experience.
Consuming shrooms can result in a mild trip causing the user to feel relaxed or drowsy to a frightening experience, marked by hallucinationsLinks to an external site., delusionsLinks to an external site., and panic. In the worst-case scenario, magic mushrooms have even been known to cause convulsions.5
Side effects of magic mushrooms can include both physical and mental effects.
Physical effects:
Dilated pupils
Drowsiness
Headaches
Increased heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature
Lack of coordination
Muscle weakness
Nausea
Yawning
Mental effects:
Distorted sense of time, place, and reality
Euphoria
Hallucinations (visual or auditory)
Having introspective (spiritual) experiences
Panic reactions
Paranoia
Psychosis
Nervousness
More research is needed on the long-term, lasting side effects of magic mushrooms. Still, it has been reported that users can experience long-lasting changes in personality and flashbacksLinks to an external site. long after taking mushrooms.
Since magic mushrooms look similar to poisonous mushrooms, poisoning is yet another potential risk of taking these drugs. Mushroom poisoning can cause severe illness, organ damage, and even death.
It's also common for magic mushroom products to be contaminated. A study of 886 samples alleged to be psilocybin mushrooms analyzed by Pharm Chem Street Drug Laboratory showed that only 252 (28%) were hallucinogenic, while 275 (31%) were regular store-bought mushrooms laced with LSD or phencyclidine (PCP), and 328 (37%) contained no drug at all.6
Signs of Use
If your loved one is using shrooms, they may be nauseous or appear nervous or paranoid. In the case of drug use, it's always important to pay attention to any changes in sleeping and to eating patterns as well as shifts in mood and personality and social activities.
Myths & Common Questions.
There are many myths about magic mushrooms. Some people believe, for example, that magic mushrooms are "safer" and produce a "milder" trip than other hallucinogenics.
In fact, in addition to their potential to poison anyone who takes them, magic mushrooms are just as unpredictable in their effects as other drugs. Some people have reported much more intense and frightening hallucinations on magic mushrooms than on LSD.
Many people also confuse fly agaric mushrooms with psilocybin-containing mushroomsâbut they are not the same. Fly agaric mushrooms contain the psychoactive chemicals ibotenic acid and muscimol, which are known to cause twitching, drooling, sweating, dizziness, vomiting, and delirium.7
Tolerance, Dependence, and Withdrawal
Like most drugs, the more you use magic mushrooms, the more tolerance you develop. Tolerance also develops quickly with regular use. This means that you need more of the drug to achieve the same effect.
Developing a tolerance can be especially risky with shrooms because consuming a large amount can result in overdose symptoms, which, while not fatal, can include agitation, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle weakness, panic or paranoia, psychosis, and seizures.
How Long Does Psilocybin Stay in Your System?
The short-term effects of magic mushrooms typically wear off in 6 to 12 hours.3, But users can experience long-term changes in personality and flashbacks long after taking the drugs.
The average half-life of psilocybin ranges from an hour to two, and it generally takes five to six half-lives for a substance to be eliminated from your system.
The regular urine drug screening for employment does not test for psilocybin, but there are specific tests that can be ordered to check for the powerful hallucinogen. Like many other drugs, magic mushrooms can be found in hair follicles for up to 90 days.8
Addiction
Psilocybin is not addictive and does not lead to compulsive use. This is partly because the drug can cause an intense âtrip.â Plus, people can build a tolerance to psilocybin reasonably quickly, making it hard to have any effect after several days of repeated use.5
Withdrawal
While users rarely report physical symptoms of withdrawal when they stop using the drug, some experience psychological effects, including depression.
How to Get Help
If you suspect your teen is experimenting or regularly using magic mushrooms, consider having a firm yet loving conversation with them about the risks of psychedelics, especially when combined with alcohol or other drugs. At this time, itâs also important to emphasize that you are there to help and support them.

Beautiful LGBTQ Proposal Stories
1. Patrick + Matthew
âPatrick and I started dating in July 2016. By September, we had told each other, 'I love you.' Day after that, I bought the ring. He is the most special person I have ever met, and loving him is the best thing Iâll ever do with my life. I proposed on his birthday, Jan. 19. He made me promise not to propose at Disneyland â Disneyâs super special to us. So I didnât propose at Disneyland. I proposed at Disney California Adventure â thank God for loopholes! We were married this past August. It was everything; HEâS everything. So thankful for our happily ever after.â â Matthew Markulis
2. Allie + Sam
"We actually had two proposals! I popped the question back in July, and it was a total shock to Sam. We'd been together 3.5 years and I told her I'd never propose..."
"... Anyways, I've been waiting for a ring ever since. In November, she told me we were going to scope out a wedding venue at our favorite park, so we took our dog Lily and met our wedding planner there. Little did I know, they'd set up a beautiful arbor and candles, and Sam got down on one knee and proposed. To top it all off, she took me out to dinner, and I was stunned that all of my friends were there! It was so exciting to celebrate with everyone! When we got home, our Christmas tree was decorated with photos of us from over the years, and I had so many sweet gifts to unwrap. I can't wait to marry this sweet girl!" â Allie
 3. Jennie + Joanna
"As clichĂ© as it may sound, Joanna was one in a million, and I knew it from the moment I met her. She was genuine and kind. She came into my life when I wasn't even expecting it. I never thought I would ever date someone with children because I didn't even think I would want children. However, these three little hearts opened mine to a world I never knew: true unconditional love. The way she loved them made me fall in love with her even more. I asked the two oldest boys for their permission to marry their mother. It was important to me they were part of the decision, as they were the men of the house. Without hesitation, they did. We planned the whole thing together! They were the only ones who knew that our family 'Easter' photos were actually a surprise engagement photo shoot. I was extremely nervous, but Tara, a good friend [and the photographer], made everything easier. She captured one of the best moments of my life: my now-wife saying yes to marrying me!" â Jennie Romano
4. Kayla + Loren
"The photographer Albert and I came up with the idea for me to propose on the Hogwarts Express [at Universal Studios]. My fiancĂ©e Loren (who uses they/them pronouns), ever the planner, was furious that we were skipping all the attractions on the itinerary we spent hours planning just to ride the train. They didnât speak to me the entire time in line! Finally, we sat on the train, and Albert motions for me to sit next to him across from my fiancĂ©e. As he is setting up this very obvious and huge camera (Loren still hasnât caught on!) he sneakily texts me, 'Now.' I lean in slightly and Loren is shaking their head saying that I was in the way of Albert taking his tourist pictures! I couldnât help but laugh because they didnât even know the half of it. I finally get down on one knee with the ring in the chocolate frog box and start my proposal with, 'Are you still mad at me?' Loren puts it all together, starts to tear up, and weâve been happily engaged ever since!" â Kayla S.
5. Jan-KristĂČf + Kellan
"Kellan planned to invite a group of our friends up to Rainbow Mountain Lodge in Pennsylvania to propose to me in front of everyone. However, he changed his mind, thinking that I would probably be upset if I knew that our friends were coming to stay with us during our anniversary weekend. The day after we got there, we hiked up Resort Point Overlook, where Kellan planned to propose at the top of the mountain with the sunset in the background â except that he forgot the ring! Moments like this honestly remind me how much I love our lives; we just truly keep each other entertained. We went back to the hotel room, where he presented me with this box of photographs, which were a collection of the most memorable places we have been in the last 10 years, and notes, which he had written our story on. He then got on his knees and popped the question with the ring in hand. The picture of him kneeling was for the engagement pictures taken in Central Park in New York." â Jan-KristĂČf Louis-MansanoÂ
6. Quinn + Evelyn
âJune 18, 2018, is the day that will forever be my best. Itâs the day that Evelyn sat next to me with a wine glass of lemonade and a mouth full of turkey sandwich while I nervously watched in anticipation of asking the most important question Iâve ever asked in my entire life. My heart was beating 1,000 times a minute and Evelyn was finishing her lunch â I was way too nervous to eat anything. I finally got on one knee while pulling out my handmade sign and the ring and asked Evelyn, 'Will you marry me?' With a very surprised look and tears coming to both our eyes, Evelyn spoke the most important word that I have longed to hear for so long: 'YES!'" â Quinn S.
7. Cameron + Maggie
"When Cameron and I met, we had no idea we would end up here. We went from strangers to best friends, roommates to more than friends, and two short months later, we became engaged. He gave me a puppy who was wearing a tag that said, 'Will you marry me?' After a moment, he asked, 'Well?!' So I said, 'If I say no, do I get to keep the puppy?' He said no, I said yes, and when heâs rotten, I tell everyone he tricked me into this marriage with a puppy. đ..."
8. Jeroen + Amar
"Straight from the start, I knew Amar was the one that I would spend my life with. Amar is an architect and loves special sustainable projects like the High Line in New York City. So I prepared our trip in detail, including a paparazzi photographer to take pictures of the moment that I would propose. On the High Line, I fell to my knees and asked him to become my husband. Even though I knew he would say yes, I still was somewhat nervous. But he did, indeed, say yes, and suddenly a group of people who surrounded us started to applaud. We revisited that specific spot three times that week. It will be always our romantic spot in New York." â Jeroen W.
9. Jackie + Beth
"Beth and I had both decided that we wanted to propose to each other, but we had no idea that weâd be proposing within 24 hours of each other. Iâd been planning for months to propose to her on our anniversary in Tower Grove Park [in St. Louis], where weâd gone for several of our first dates. I planned every detail to be as personal and sentimental as possible â I coordinated a group of her closest friends and family, flew in her best friends from out of town, gathered branches from the park to have turned into a wooden engagement ring for her. And when the date rolled around, I hung string lights from our go-to hammocking trees and rolled out our favorite vintage rug from my grandma. I told Beth I wanted to have an anniversary picnic in the park (which, bless her heart, she agreed to, even though it had been cold and rainy all day). As soon as we turned the corner and Beth saw the string lights, she started crying. She said yes, and all of our friends came out from behind the bushes to surprise Beth (again) and celebrate with us.â â Jackie P.
âWhat Jackie didnât know was that I was planning on proposing to her the very next morning at our favorite farmers market, in the same park where she had proposed to me. I went to the market early, talked to all our favorite vendors, and set up a scavenger hunt through the market for her. I left notes, pictures and our favorite market foods at each booth. My last note asked her to meet me at the stone ruins in the park, just outside the market. As soon as I saw her walking towards me with tears in her eyes and arms full of herbs and veggies, I completely forgot everything I had planned to say â it became the happiest blur that ended with a ring on Jackieâs finger and a celebratory breakfast with friends, featuring all the food Jackie had gathered on her scavenger hunt. It was as close to a perfect weekend as I could imagine. We each got to show the other how deeply known and loved we are, and we celebrated that love surrounded by our friends, family and queer community.â â Beth W.
10. Amber + Courtney
"Our driver dropped us off on the wrong block so we had to navigate our way through the rainy streets of New York. All the while, I was trying not to give away where we were going. We were lost, jaywalking streets, getting caught in traffic in the rain, until we finally found our way. We rode the elevator to the top of the building, where a gentleman walked us up to a door. Courtney didn't know what was behind it until it opened. Immediately, we were met with candles lit, lining the rooftop floor, leading us out to a terrace that overlooked a beaming Empire State Building. The rain had stopped. As I turned to grab Courtneyâs hand and lead her out, she immediately melted into a million happy tears and knew this was the moment we had both been waiting for. I walked her out to the middle of the terrace and made a promise of family, love and happiness. I said, 'My mom used to tell me when I was kid, as we said our prayers at night, to thank God every night for the things you donât want to wake up tomorrow without. It never made complete sense what that meant until I met you.'" â Amber P.
11. Alli + Chris
"I proposed to Christiane on our four-year anniversary. We drove up to this great little trail in northwestern Connecticut and hiked up to a quiet vantage point to watch the sunrise. This was a pretty typical way for us to enjoy a day together or celebrate something like a birthday or anniversary. She noticed me fumbling around with a bunch of cameras but I was able to come up with an excuse about wanting to photograph the sunrise. As the sun started to come up over the horizon, I gave Chris her anniversary present: a childrenâs book I had written that told our story. It all led up to the last page, which read, 'Will you marry me?' She said yes, and we got to watch a beautiful sunrise!..."
"... Later, Chris proposed to me and surprised me with a ring when we were taking some engagement photos with Steph Grant in Yosemite National Park. They planned the whole thing without me knowing, so I got a sunrise proposal too." â Alli L.

Iâm so glad youâre back - Chapter 15
chapter 1 chapter 2 chapter 3 chapter 4 chapter 5 chapter 6 chapter 7 chapter 8 chapter 9 chapter 10 chapter 11 chapter 12 chapter 13 chapter 14Â Epilogue
so this is the last chapter!!!! the next chapter I will update will be an epilogue. enjoy guys and leave a comment â€â€
Its been a couple of days now since the battle of earth. Steve and Natasha have been staying at Tony and Pepper's house for the time being since Natasha and James's home had been destroyed and they had to look after the kids too since Pepper and Tony had still been in Wakanda waiting for Tony to be woken up from his induced coma and to be released from the medical lab.
Natasha had made sure that Morgan was okay and that she also knew both her mom and dad were gonna be okay, but that her dad had been hurt but he was coming home soon. The little girl had practically been stuck to Natasha's side for days, she was obviously worried about her dad and a little scared but having Natasha, Steve and James around made her feel better.
After they had settled into Tony and Pepper's house the day they came back over to look after the kids, Natasha finally had the time and chance to make a call. A call she never wanted to make, before or after the snap.Â
That night Natasha had sat outside on the porch with the phone in her hands, it wasn't hers since her phone was destroyed, so she had to use Tony and Pepper's. But they didn't have Laura or Clint's numbers saved so the redhead had to punch in the numbers one by one, which made it even harder for Natasha to call.
After 2 rings, Laura picked up. Natasha could barely speak before Laura was saying a thousand sentences at once, trying to ask too many questions. So Natasha interrupted her instead, making laura mute instantly, there was something about Natasha's voice as she spoke. Laura had never heard Natasha like this before. Never. Something was wrong.
But Natasha had internally refused to tell laura over the phone. Not after she and kids had just come back, so instead she asked laura to come to them. Natasha knew it was a lot to ask considering they had just snapped back after 5 years and were, of course, worried where their husband and father was but Natasha refused to tell her about Clint on the phone. Laura recognised the sound of distress in Natasha's voice instantly and had agreed to come to new york as soon as they could, which would be a few days. But as they made their way to new york they still had no clue about Clint.
âŠ.
Between Dr Strange, Shuri and Nebula, the three managed to fix up Tony quite well.
Sure, he'd have a biomechanical advanced arm forever but he was alive. And that's what mattered. Nebula had convinced the other two and pepper to help conceal his nono suit into the arm too, she knew for a fact he would never be coming back to the fight, he had Pepper and Morgan to think about and a life that he didn't want to leave, but knowing he had the suit and protection as a contingency made her feel better about him being safe in the future, pepper had been reluctant as the thought of tony still having a suit but on the inside she was grateful to know that tony would always be safe, and always be with them.
After 2 days of being in the coma and installing the implant in his arm, they finally woke Tony up and he was just fine, more than fine. The Wakanda medicine had worked wonders.Â
When Tony woke up the first person he had asked for was Pepper, who told him that she and Morgan were fine and that they won. He even asked for Peter, the boy he had come to think of a son and pepper had told him that the teenager was with his aunt in new york, both staying in a new apartment that pepper had paid for since their old one had a new family living in it. Actually, she had tried to help out all of their friends that had come back, it was a good distraction to stop her worrying about tony 24/7 whilst he was injured.
Tony had taken the news about his arm well, to be honest, they could have taken the entire arm off and he wouldn't have cared, he was just glad he was still alive. In the few seconds, he had been ready to use the stones until Carol joined him he had been ready to do what was right, even if that meant dying and leaving his family. He knew they would have been okay without him, but thankfully he was saved, and he would forever be grateful to Strange, Shuri and Nebula.
Once a few hours went by and tony was thoroughly checked by the doctors he was given the all-clear to go home, Strange re-opened a portal with the other side of it being his house and waiting right on the other side was Steve holding James and clinging on to her Auntie Nat was Morgan.Â
The genius's eyes started to well up at seeing his daughter again. Once he stepped through the portal with pepper, the little girl detached herself from Natasha's leg and ran as fast as she could into his arms. He winced a little when she came into contact with his cyborg enhancements but he couldn't have cared less. His baby girl was in his arms and that's all that mattered. He would gladly turn himself into robocop if it meant having a few moments with her.
She didn't seem to notice his arm at first and didn't seem to fully realise what had happened and why he was gone for a few days so she just ended up chattering on about how she has a new uncle and that it was James's dad. Tony could have rolled his eyes. He'd been gone for days after almost dying and his daughter was smitten with her new uncle. Typical Steve. But her topic of conversation quickly changed when she started to talk about how Steve had told her that her dad was a hero, and that he got rid of all the bad guys but that he was also injured whilst doing it and that's why he was gone for a few days.
âYouâre the best daddy ever! Uncle Steve said you were a hero for making all the bad guys go away and saving everyone.â Her big brown eyes sparkled at tony as she spoke fast, not even taking one breath.
âOh, he did did he? Well, your uncle steves a good guyâ He and Steve still hadn't talked about the accords and bucky business, they hadn't really had the time considering they were mid-battle before. But today Tony would make sure that changed.
âI think your new arm is cool tooâ This made tony smile, pulling up his sleeve slightly, he showed more of it off to her, and her eyes just carefully scanned it, looking at all the metal and skin that was melded together. Yep, definitely cool.Â
Once he had seen his daughter, tony also hugged Natasha and James, glad that they were both okay, but soon after, all 4 of the woman and kids left to go back inside his house, leaving just him and Steve on the porch.
There were a few moments of silence as they both walked around the decking and leaned against the railing. Deciding to talk first, steve opened his mouth to break the silence.
âI'm sorry, for everything that happened back then. About the accords, bucky, about not telling you about your parents. It was a shitty thing to do, I'm sorry, I really am tony.â
Tony took a large breath, his bottles up emotions and thoughts finally being able to be released.
âYou know I've had a lot of time to think about what happened back then, 7 years. You were one of my closest friends and I felt betrayed because even though we had our differences I just always thought we'd always be on the same side. I felt bad after I learned that you were gone, for not making up earlier but I guess I just had to live with that and live with the knowledge that it ended on bad terms. But it wasn't until James and morgan were here that I really did regret fighting and falling out. because I realised that James and morgan were a few months apart, they were gonna grow up with each other, they would be best friends. And the thought of my daughter having a friend who she would grow up with and trust completely and do anything for and that he would the same for her, it made me a little less angry with you. Because that's exactly what you and bucky were, you were best friends since you were kids, and you lost him. I don't even wanna imagine morgan and James loosing each other. But I know it must have hurt for you, so getting him back was important. Even if you were kinds blindsided by everything else. I'll always be angry at bucky fro what he did, of course, I will, but I've learned to accept that he wasn't in control and that he did it against his will. And you were just trying to protect him.â
Steve stood and let tony talk for as long as he needed. He didn't want to interrupt when tony had clearly needed to get this off his chest. Sure he had thought about it too and wanted to talk but tony had been sitting on this for 7 years and for 5 of those he thought he was dead.
âAnd watching James grow up, your son, made me regret our fight even more. Because every time I looked at that little boy I saw you. My friend who I never got to make amends with and now I had to be an uncle to this kid who would never meet you. And one day I would have to tell my nephew that when his father died, we weren't friends. I'm glad I won't have to do that now. He's a good kid, more like you than you think.â
âI know its been less time for me tony, but its the same for me. I wish I would have just told you about bucky and I regret not telling you. And being around the kids, your daughter. It made me realise that I shouldn't have thrown out entire friendship just to help another. I should have been there for the both of you, so we could have worked it out. I went about it the wrong way, and as for the accords I regret that too because maybe if we would have stayed on the same side Thanos would never have won that first fight. And I am truly sorry tony.â
âI'm sorry too, spangles.â Steve rolled his eyes and laughed at Tony's nickname for him.
âDefinitely didn't miss thatâ
âOh I'm sorry, I meant to say capsicle.â
Slapping the captain on the shoulder with a laugh, tony and steve leaned in for a long-overdue hug. But better late than never.Â
âBut I do have to admit that Iâm kinda grateful for what happened because if we never would have fought, we probably would never have had Morgan or James.â Tony admitted, Steve knew that their conflict was over now but Tony just had to point it out because it was true. That fight led them to have their children, and they were both glad to have James and Morgan. After the hug, both men had gone back inside to join the others and helped out to make dinner.
About 2 days after tony had come back home, bruce and sam had called to let them know that they had Hank Pym make some more particles and that they fixed up a smaller version of their quantum tunnel time machine, ready for it to be used to take the stones back to their original timelines.
It wasn't long before steve volunteered to take the trip. He knew Natasha wouldn't want to return the vormir after being told about clint and what had happened. Thor couldn't return the stones either or else there would be 3 thors running about in Asgard. Nebula and rocket hadn't wanted to go back either, rather spending time with their newly returned family. Tony had only just healed so he was a no go too. Bruce was too big to be sneaking around places he shouldn't be and Scott wanted to stay home too. And it just so happened that none of them would be able to take Mjolnir back to Asgard either, so steve was literally the only one who could go back anyway.
Tony, Steve and Natasha soon made their way to the leftover destruction that was the compound, their HQ and Natasha and James's home. When they got out the car, they saw the large bruce stood behind the monitor and sam, thor and bucky waiting around it.
Steve was quickly equipped with the quantum suit, ready to take the journey of returning the hammer and stones. He was told about exactly the places he would have to return them and who to expect, but he was more than ready to take it on.
âHey, you be careful you hear me.â Natasha pulled him close as she warned him and kissed him lightly, not bothering about their crowd of onlookers that were watching and waiting for steve.
âDon't worry I will, to be honest, its kinds exciting, time travel I mean.â She just smirks at him and runs her hand down his chest as she pulls away, leaving him standing on the platform ready to jump.
Sam and bucky stood next to each other as they watched the exchange between the two reunited lovers. It had been a shock to learn they had a child together when they came back, they knew about Natasha and steve being together during their time on the run but they never would have expected to come back to the news that their friends now had a 5-year-old.
But they had to admit it was sickeningly cute to see their friends as a proper couple again, after being apart for 5 years.Â
So there on the ground around the tunnel was thor, bruce, tony and Natasha with steve stood on the platform for the tunnel. It was almost like the old days, the original team back together, but they would never forget the member that had made then a 6. Sam and Bucky had stepped a few feet away as they let the team have a moment.
Then counting down from 5 was bruce, the monitor getting the machine ready to jump.Â
5
Steve winked at Natasha and she smiled back, giving him a little wave of her hand.
4
Toyn watched on and gave steve smile too.
3
Thor grinned as he watched Steve picked up his old hammer and also the case containing the stones.
2
Activating his helmet, the mask now covered his face, protecting him once he travelled.Â
1
Then Steve was gone.Â
It takes 5 more seconds before he's back. It would probably feel like longer to steve because you know, time travel. But once Bruce counts to 1 again, steve doesn't return alone.
Landing on the platform on their feet is 2 figures. Everyone stands with shocked looked on their faces as they try to figure out who the other person is. But Natasha knew who it was instantly.Â
Deacivciaitng their helmets, steve stood with a man by his side who should have been dead.
Clint.
Upon seeing her oldest friend, Natasha sucks in a breath. It was clint, stood right in front of her. At first, she thought maybe it was a different Clint somehow, a younger version maybe, but the tattoo sleeve and the mohawk proved to her that this was her Clint. The one she had only found a few days ago after 5 years. But Clint died, how was he here? He sacrificed himself for the stone, and it was supposed to be irreversible. She didn't understand, but that didn't stop her from running to him instantly and wrapping her arms around him, pulling him in for a hug.
Clint gladly returned the hug too, he knew how she must have felt after he sacrificed himself for her and he regretted making her feel that way but his life to save her? He'd do it over and over again. He wouldn't dream of making his nephew an orphan.
âYou're an idiot!â
âMaybe so, but I don't regret it Nat, you got to go home to your son and I would do it a hundred times over to make sure you always get to go home to him.â
"Thank you." clint said nothing in return and just smiled at her gratefulness. They were each other's oldest friends, they had known each other longer than the rest of the team. He was just glad she was safe.Â
After pulling away from the hug, Natasha pulled clint with her towards the car so they could take him back with them, at the same time Steve deactivated the suit and told Bruce and Thor that he returned all the stones and that the timelines were all fixed.
But Natasha forgot that today is the day that Laura was supposed to come up with the kids. She was too busy explaining to Clint what had happened during the battle and after to remember. Â
Then the four pulled up down the dirt road to Tony's house, where they saw a slightly familiar car parked up. The four avengers pilled out of Tony's car and made their way over to the house, but Natasha couldn't stop thinking about that car that was parked up. She stopped for a second whilst the three men carried on towards the house. It was familiar. That's when it clicked. That was Laura's car. She whipped her head quickly towards the door, but the boys were already inside.
Clint was already there.
Steve walked inside first and gasped as he was met with the face of a woman that was sat on the couch with pepper, who, to him, he hadn't seen in months. A woman who had also been snapped. Laura.
Laura had looked just as shocked to see him, and instantly stood up to see them, but her face was friendly as always, flashing him a slight smile to say she was glad to see him, a smile he quickly returned but then he moved further into the room and glanced out the back window. There in the back garden behind the house was 5 children running about, well 3 kids and 2 teenagers. All of them probably sent outside to play whilst the two older women talked.Â
Then in walks tony, of course for him, it's been long since he had seen the mother of 3 but he was happy to see her, when he found out about her and the kids it had saddened him immensely, Laura had been nothing but kind and the kids were innocent when he knew them. They hadn't deserved to be dusted. He would have gone to hug her but he knew there was someone else who needed to see her more than him. Someone who had waited 5 years to get them back. Â
As Tony walks over to Pepper, the doorway is left unblocked, allowing Clint to walk in next. He freezes. his eyes start to water as he looks upon the brunette woman standing in front of him. His wife. The love of his life he had spent the last moments of being alive thinking about.
Its been so long for him he almost forgot how overwhelming it was to be in her presence, one look at her after 5 years and he feels just like he did the first time he met her. She was just beautiful in and out. She was perfect and when he lost her and the kids he lost everything but now she was back.
Laura watches as her husbands eyes water and he looks at her in disbelief, she can't imagine what he must have been through.
When she had arrived it had just been pepper at the house with James and Morgan, and Pepper had done her best to try and catch laura up with everything that had happened in the last 5 years, about Thanos, James, morgan, and about Clint being missing for 5 years and his activities as a vigilante.
That would explain that awful mohawk and the sleeve. She thought.
Clint didn't waste any more time, he pushed on his feet and ran towards her. Even though it was a small gap between them and wrapped his arms around her waist and squeezed her with all his strength, Laura just swung her arms around his neck and moved her head slightly to let him bury his face into the crook of her neck and smell her hair.
Watching from the doorway, Natasha leaned against the wooden frame and looked on at the reunion of her best friends. It was surreal, she just couldn't believe that after all this time they finally had everyone back. The redhead pushed herself from the door frame and walked over to her soldier, wrapping one arm around his back and leaned into him, soaking up his warmth.
"Dad?" A feminine sweet voice suddenly sounded out in the room. Each adult all turned to look towards the source, only to see a young girl, with light brown hair that fell just past her shoulders.Â
It's Lila.
Clint's eyes light up at the sight of His little girl! God, she was 17 this year but she still looked 12 and had braces. The young girl ran towards her father, who had unwrapped one arm from his wife and held it out to her and buried herself in his chest as both he and her mother hugged her.
Clint started to laugh out of happiness at having his child back in his arms, then coming back inside came Cooper and Nate, his teenage son was carrying his little brother on his back. They stopped after seeing the commotion and then Cooper carefully let down Nate, allowing the younger brother to run towards his parents. Cooper just ran towards them too, joining the hug. Â
Across the room, Natasha stands in steve's arms as she watched the family hug each other out of joy, she could just about see the traces of water down Clint's cheeks as he's overwhelmed with his family. She can only smile contently at the reunion, and the fact she actually had clint back. Today was supposed to be a day of tears and sadness once she finally told laura and clint sacrificing himself for her. But now, thanks to Steve, he was brought back. On the way home the two had explained the exchange of the soul stone, and that no one had ever returned the stone before. So when steve returned it, he swapped a soul for a soul.Â
Turning her head away from the family and in the direction of her solider, Natasha tilted her head to look up at him. Steve felt the redhead moved and followed her gaze to look down upon the love of his life. Steve stares into her eyes, just watching her until she reaches up on her tiptoes and captures his lips into a kiss, her arm snaking up to his face and cupping it. they stay there for a few seconds before pulling back and leaning their foreheads against each other.Â
Opening her mouth, Natasha let out a breath. Her life was finally the way it should be.
âYou amaze me. You're unlike anybody I've ever met and I'm so thankful to have you. I'm so glad youâre back.â

My 7-day Tasmania Itinerary
Tasmania is such a beautiful travel destination! I recently spent a week there and absolutely loved it. Aside from pre-planned group bookings, I didnât find much in the way of solo travel itineraries, so I took a bit out of all the posts I found and created my own. I have to say, I thought it was near perfect! I decided to rent a car for the week, but if you have your own and take the ferry over, that works too.
So if youâre planning a trip to Tassie, have a look over my plan.
Day 1 - Hobart
Your first day can be spent just exploring Hobart and the surrounds. As itâs not a large city and the airport is so close, itâs possible to see quite a few things even if you only have half a day.Â
In terms of accommodation, Hobart is not lacking in anything. I would definitely recommend a stay in Rose Bay, which is not in the Hobart city centre, but across the bridge on the opposite side of the Derwent river. Itâs a few minutesâ drive out of the city and you get the most spectacular views of the Tasman bridge and the river.Â
While driving around Hobart and around the city, make sure to head up to Mount Wellington. This is a must-see and probably the easiest and cheapest thing youâll do. Itâs completely free to go up to the viewpoint and you can drive the entire way. I drove at a leisurely pace, stopping a few times to take pictures and take in the scenery, which probably took me about a half hour. The view from the top is breathtaking and you can wander around there for a bit. Just remember to take warm clothing as itâs freezing at the top!
Once youâve been up Mount Wellington, head to the Botanical Gardens. Entry is also free and the gardens are stunning. They have a wide range of plant species, a cafe and shop and their very own Japanese Garden. If youâre wanting some peace and quiet in nature, this is the place to go.
For dinner, Hobart has many options. As a vegan, I love supporting businesses that are entirely veggie, which is why I ate at Veg Bar a few times. To be honest, itâs not the greatest vegan food Iâve had by a long shot, but itâs worth a visit, if only to enjoy the funky decor.
Day 2 - Bruny Island
Since driving a lot can get tiring, I recommend doing the things that require the longer drives at the beginning of your week. Trust me, youâre not really going to be in the mood for them towards the end. To catch the ferry to Bruny Island, an absolute must-see when in Tassie, you have to drive about 30-40 minutes to Kettering. The ferry takes about 15 minutes and departs at multiple times throughout the day. The island itself is actually really large with no public transport, so prepare to spend the majority of your time driving.
If youâre keen to get that Bruny Island lighthouse photo everyone loves, I recommend doing that as your first thing. Itâs the furthest away from where the ferry docks and the road takes you through the South Bruny National Park. Itâs gorgeous but be careful on the dirt roads as your tires can slip easily depending on your car. I think it took me roughly 2 hours to get there.Â
I am not ashamed to admit that, as an introvert, I despise large crowds and will almost always avoid them. I did not get that typical lighthouse pic, because it started raining just as I got there, there were heaps of people and itâs still quite a climb from the carpark up to the lighthouse. I walked halfway up, took an average pic of the lighthouse, and went back down. Keep in mind that you have to pay an entry fee to actually go into the lighthouse. I still think it was worth the drive, though, because the scenery there and along the way is absolutely beautiful.
Aside from the lighthouse, there are plenty of other things to see and do on Bruny Island. Wine tasting, chocolate tasting, whiskey tasting, cheese tasting, lunches (my recommendation is Bruny Island Seafood Restaurant for great seating and a delicious pumpkin soup) and many other options. Build those into your itinerary however youâd like. If youâre exploring the island the way I did, starting right down at the bottom, I recommend heading over to Adventure Bay next.Â
On your way back up to the north of the island, make sure to stop at the Neck. This is the part that connects the south and north of Bruny Island. Climb up the stairs to the lookout point and get that iconic view of both beaches!Â
The reason I did this later in my day was that there are a lot less people around than in the morning, so you can actually find parking and enjoy the view without a million people around you.
Day 3 - Bay of Fires
For two days of my trip I did actually book a guided tour. I know this is not always the most appealing to introverts, but I highly recommend you push yourself to do it. There are plenty of tours to choose from, most of them doing roughly the same thing and they tend to keep groups to a maximum of 24 people. In my case I was very lucky, as theyâd somehow overbooked their tour and organised a smaller bus for just 7 of us. The people in my tour were all absolutely lovely, and our guide was excellent, so it worked out really well for me.Â
Either way Iâd still recommend booking an East Coast Tasmania tour as getting all the way up to the Wineglass Bay and the Bay of Fires would be tricky as a solo traveller. This is really where you want to be taken care of, and I also enjoyed the break from having to drive for hours.
Have a look at some Tassie tours here.
I realise that for these two days my rental car was not being used, but the daily price was not high enough for me to care too much about this. If this is something that bothers you, change up your itinerary a bit. Keep in mind that booked tours run on specific days only, so youâll have to plan around that. The 2-day East coast tour I booked starts on Wednesdays.
Part of the tour is also a stop at a wildlife sanctuary in Bicheno, where you can see and learn about Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Quolls and other interesting animals. Buy a feed bag and go feed the kangaroos and geese wandering freely around the sanctuary, itâs an amazing experience!
Day 4 - Wineglass Bay
The second day of the tour takes you to the Freycinet National Park, where youâll climb up to a viewpoint to look out over Wineglass Bay. This is another iconic Tasmanian image thatâs worth the hike up the mountain. Make sure to wear suitable footwear and be reasonably fit!
Unfortunately, I visited on one of those extremely rare, extremely rainy days and did not get to see the view from the lookout, but honestly the walk was still fun. I got completely soaked through within minutes (imagine jumping into a swimming pool fully clothed) and there were waterfalls running down the mountains. Considering that this rarely ever happens, I felt quite lucky to have seen a side of Freycinet that most people donât.Â
Iâm not sure if this applies to me only or if all introverts can relate, but I love the rain. Itâs my favourite weather because the world is so much less noisy when it rains. So overall, for me, this was still a great experience.
On a normal, sunny day youâd probably take a nice hike up to the viewpoint, take some pics and then go down to the actual beach of Wineglass Bay for a swim. This would take a few hours and youâd see wallabies and other animals in the park. Youâd then head back to Hobart in the afternoon.
Day 5 - Port ArthurÂ
Port Arthur Historic Site is a little village and historic site which showcases the history of British prisoners and the officers and soldiers stationed there. Itâs really well kept and you get a good feeling of how life was back when it was operational. I unexpectedly spent almost all day here as itâs really big and there is just so much to see. Tickets arenât cheap and additional tours cost extra, but even if you just get general admission itâs worth it. The ticket is valid for 2 days, so you do have the option to return the next day.Â
The site is about a 90-minute drive out of Hobart, and itâs definitely worth a visit!
Day 6 - Salamanca Market, MONA
Most people agree that a trip to Hobart wouldnât be complete without visiting the famous Salamanca Market. This market sells everything from fresh veggies to jewellery to delicious food and drinks. My first stroll through the market took about an hour, thatâs how big it is. Itâs held every Saturday at Salamanca Place from 8:30am - 3pm. There are some great vegan options if youâre like me and like to eat your way through a market!
If youâre into art, then check out the MONA (Museum of Old and New Art). Itâs one of Hobartâs main attractions, a museum built mostly underground that you can get to using their unique ferry. If youâre on a budget just keep the entry and ferry prices in mind, as theyâre not cheap.Â
The museum is like no other youâve ever experienced. You wonât find information cards or artistsâ names on the walls beside their art, as youâd expect. Instead, youâre given a device (like an old iPhone) that you keep with you as you walk through the exhibits. It has a location service so you can check out any information on anything youâre looking at, including interactive VR stuff. Itâs definitely very interesting, but I must admit there were times where I thought âthis counts as art?â, but thatâs just me. The nice thing is itâs mostly dark everywhere and you donât have to talk to anyone, so a great thing to do for introverts.
Day 7 - Richmond
I recommend relaxing or doing any small things you didnât get to do all week on your last day. A tip my AirBnB hosts gave me was a drive to Richmond, a small town about 25 minutes outside of Hobart. Itâs got that typical cute, old-timey village feel. Thereâs a huge lolly shop with so many candy options, the Richmond Bridge which is the oldest stone bridge in Australia, and the Richmond Gaol where they also imprisoned women. For lunch I recommend Czegsâ Cafe. The decor is adorable and they have little outside tables where you can keep away from the masses. The vegan pasta is to die for!
I really hope this little itinerary helps you in your search for the best things to do in Tassie. If you have more time, I hear Launceston is a great place to visit, or even going up the West Coast. Iâll have to check that out the next time I go.

Spiritual Spotlight: Dammar the Denied
True Neutral Psychopomp Usher of Liquor, Luck, and Medicine
Domains: Healing, Luck, Protection, Repose Subdomains*: Resurrection, Curse, Purity, Psychopomp
Concordance of Rivals, pg. 8
Obedience**: Consume a full serving of alcohol and spend an hour reflecting on the intricacies of the living form. At the conclusion, pour a second serving at the base of a tree or a large stone. Benefit: Gain a +4 insight bonus on Heal checks and saving throws against the effects of alcohol and swarm attacks.
(*IMPORTANT NOTE: The Subdomains are my best guess; Subdomains are not listed in Concordance of Rivals. **ALSO SOMEWHAT IMPORTANT: Dammarâs true Obedience squicks me out something fierce, so the one provided is an alternate take with only a slight deviation from its written form. The actual Obedience will be in the link at the end of the article, as always, but be wary if you have emetophobia or are otherwise sensitive to people un-eating things)
A single bottle typically contains six servings, by the way. Gutter-quality swill will maybe run you 5cp a cask, assuring youâll more or less always have some on you provided you arenât robbed, set on fire, or stranded away from civilization for weeks on end, eliminating the bookkeeping nonsense that Obediences with material components usually require. It doesnât even have to be any specific kind of alcohol! ANY old stuff will do, including any you make yourself.
The tricky part is the second portion of the Obedience, requiring you to sacrifice a serving to a tree or rock. This means one bottle will carry you through three Obediences, which doesnât sound like much until you have to start devoting a good portion of your carrying capacity to wine casks. Get yourself a cart! As for why the rock/tree bit is tricky, well, you wonât always have access to such terrain features! Sometimes you just get stuck underground, or in a frozen tundra, or in the Plane of Air for a few days! Maybe the DM will let you substitute the symbolic offering by just pouring it on an altar you make, but thatâs something to discuss with them beforehand.
The benefit is mmmmmmmmmnot great, despite being a triple threat. Itâs a triple threat against threats that arenât super threatening; unless you invest in Signature Skill, the Heal skill in general has few uses. Being more tolerant of alcohol is impressive for roleplaying but not typically useful in combat, and while bolstering yourself against a swarmâs lethal Distraction ability IS good, itâs too niche to be impressive.
Boons are gained slowly, gained at levels 12, 16, and 20. Servants of the Monitors, though, can enter the Proctor Prestige Class as early as level 8. If entered as early as possible, you can earn your Boons at levels 10, 14, and 16. You MUST take the Monitor Obedience feat, NOT Deific Obedience. Monitors grant only a single set of Boons.
Boon 1: Mixed Blessings. Gain Enhance Water 3/day, Vomit Swarm 2/day, or Neutralize Poison 1/day.
Oooh, three spells I donât think weâve seen in a Boon before! Exciting!
Enhance Water turns any water you touch into some form of alcoholic drink, but hereâs the twist: any diseases, poisons, minerals, and other contaminants within the liquid are transmuted into seasonings/flavoring and additional alcohol. Plain old purified water will get you a passable beer, but irradiated scum-filled poisoned pond water will get you several pints of top-shelf, sealed-behind-glass-and-rigged-with-an-alarm bourbon or wine that you can potentially sell to people for outrageous prices (by that I mean about 50gp to 100gp a bottle).
The unfortunate downside is that it only affects water, meaning no cheating and dipping your finger into a glass of wine thatâs been served to you to clear out the poison your gracious host slipped in... However, the spell makes no distinction between free-floating water or water in a container, only that that it cannot affect Unholy Water and has no effect on magical liquids within the water (only mundane contaminants). While your round could certainly be better spent elsewhere, thereâs something funny about having the ability to turn several pints of water surrounding an underwater enemy into cloudy alcohol. Aboleths arenât immune to poison! And god, can you imagine how agonizing it must be to have alcohol rush through your gills AND into your eyes? Even if itâs just for a few seconds--ouch!
Now, Vomit Swarm is a good combat spell for those who wish to abstain from drinking too much. Sadly, no âdrop the swarm in an enemyâs pantsâ casting range here, but the swarm starts adjacent to you and moves in a direction of your choice once its supply of victims is exhausted. Even better, though, is that the spellâs power scales with level; by the time you get this ability you can choose to spit out a swarm of spiders OR a swarm of wasps, and on hitting 13 Hit Dice you can spew a ravenous horde of army ants instead! And army ants are nasty, let me tell you. A swarm of them moving in their slow march will disassemble anything in their path, so make sure your allies arenât in said path.
Neutralize Poison, predictably, neutralizes poison. Itâs a good spell to have on standby, because some poisons can be nasty. Especially Con-damaging ones! All three of these spells have their own uses, but unless youâre short on liquor for your Obedience, Iâd stick to Vomit Swarm unless you planned on heading into the Darklands or a jungle/swamp.
Boon 2: Dammarâs Mercy. 1/day, you may cast Maximized Breath of Life as a spell-like ability.
Thatâs 40+Caster level (max +25; you start with +10) HP restored to a single target. Breath of Life is an... interesting, very oddly-worded spell. As written, itâs effectively worthless for anything but death through HP damage (which, donât get me wrong, is the #1 killer for many creatures) as it does not cure ability score damage/drain or negative levels. In addition, since it instills a negative level on its--oh hold on I forgot to explain how it worked, didnât I?
You cast Breath of Life on someone whoâs already dead, you see, and it restores HP to their corpse. Lets say Mr. Squishly, the local Wizard with an impressive Constitution score of 10 and 30 HP to his name is instantaneously blended by a monster with six natural attacks which all rolled maximum damage on every dice, bringing Squishly to -54 HP! Youâre unconscious at 0 HP and dead once your HP hits a negative number equal to your Con score, so -10 in Squishlyâs case. That means poor Squishly just up and croaked!
But you, Helpful Proctor, have Drammar's Mercy available. With a flourish of your fingers and a reassuring pat on the back (delivered within 1 round of death!), you give Squishly 50 HP back, taking him to -4. Since -4 is within his death threshold, Squishly is brought back to life!!! Unconscious, but alive! And then he gets a negative level slapped on him, bringing him to dangerous territory and teetering on the brink at -9, a papercut from death. But alive!
However, if he got an additional bump on his way to the ground and brought himself to -55 HP, thereâd be nothing your spell could do; yes heâd come back to life for one brief and stellar moment just before the negative level killed him again. And at -60? Sorry, youâll need some stronger juice here.
Thankfully, cases where youâre overkilled by a ludicrous amount are rare, especially if youâre smarter than Squishly and get out of the Adventurer Disassembly Zones that are threatened squares. 50 HP is a lot, enough to bring most people back from death unless their bodies were torn to pieces or disintegrated... Or if they died from Con damage or, again, negative levels. Healing in combat is generally not what you want to do, but Breath of Life CAN indeed be used on targets that are still alive, instantly granting them a huge chunk of hitpoints to keep on trucking in the current battle!
The most unfortunate part about Breath of Life is that it can only work on a corpse thatâs been a corpse for 1 round or less, but Dammar has forseen that issue and gives their followers a bit more wiggle room...
Boon 3: Uncertain Fates. You may keep the souls of any intelligent creature that dies within 30ft of you, which orbit you as disembodied lights. You have a cumulative +1 bonus to AC and caster level checks to overcome spell resistance and a -1 penalty to Fortitude saves for each soul you keep in this way. You may hold a number of souls equal to half your Hit Dice plus your Charisma modifier, and they are immediately released to the River of Souls if you are stunned, unconscious, or fall asleep. If you have a creatureâs soul and access to their body, you may use Breath of Life on that creature as though they had died on the previous round.
yyYYYEEEAAAAH
How would YOU like to have additional AC equal to half your Hit Dice? Thatâs 7+Cha mod when you first get this power and it only raises as your power does. Dammar is the Usher responsible for making the trip from the Boneyard back to the land of the living as grueling as possible, but this ability allows you to briefly cheat that system by preventing the souls from reaching the Boneyard at all. You can have a halo of flickering, moaning lights dancing around you, deflecting incoming blows as well as any armor. The more people that die around you, the more difficult it is to actually hurt you--itâs like Death Knell except better! Those hovering souls donât even get a saving throw to avoid joining your little menagerie, though your âholdâ on them is so tenuous that you donât actually stop them from coming back to life if they get raised by other means.
The fact that ONLY Breath of Life actually benefits from this ability is a little disappointing, but you DO get that 1/day for free, and Clerics, Oracles, and Shamans all get it as well. and since it requires no material components, itâs rather simple to get scrolls made--it costs around 600gp to make or a little over 1100gp to buy one--for later use. You can even make the scrolls yourself, given that you have it as a spell-like! The restriction that you canât fall asleep or otherwise go helpless without losing your collection is pretty harsh, but if your allies NEED you to make it back to town with their souls in tow, just slap yourself with Lesser Restoration and keep trucking until all of them are back safe and sound.
Every ally that falls also make it harder to fell you! ... Just uh, be real careful around poison-wielders since your Fortitude save hemorrhages as your AC is bolstered. But hey, thatâs why Dammar also gives you Neutralize Poison!
You can read more about them here.
