My second batch of venture bros genderbends are finally done! :D [first set here]

PLEASE LOOK UNDER THE CUT!!! I made all these nice drawings and doodles of them and I want people to see them without this post being super long! :') [My thoughts on the designs and doodles will be under the cut as well]

Okay NOW I'm going talk about my thought process on some of these:

Baby Rusty: I love the baby Rusty, the frilly socks and sleeves were a must. I actually drew her with the original set of genderbends but I turned off her layer and forgot about her 💀

Jonas Jr: not much to say about her, I tried to make her like Rosie the Riveter. Her little bandana has the Venture logo on it :)

Jonas Sr: I wanted her to be a hot bitch, her outfit is maybe a little scandalous for the time era they were in but I think it fits, canon Jonas is a whore. I think everybody would want her and that every celebrity, politician, and anybody with any power would chase after her so badly.

Blue Morpho: I made her so incredibly slay. I fucking love her outfit, I found the inspo for the outfit on Pinterest but I changed it up a bit. Also her gun has the bayonetta butterfly wings on it as a charm because I HAD TO.

Colonel Gentleman: Not a lot to say, I wanted to give her like horse riding esque boots and I gave her a purple flower cause she likes the ladies. I know generally WLW flowers are Violets and Lavender but I wanted to draw a rose so, Purple rose compromise <3

Dr.Boyfriend 2: With my last round Dr.Boyfriend was the only one people had complaints with. I think people wished he was more Masculine and I agree but if I switched up the design too much it wouldn't look like Dr.Girlfriend. I hope giving him armor and making him look like a knight helped him look more masc. I made the sheer wings cross over his chest to make it look like it was holding up the shoulder armor. Also his guild book is insanely high quality because I was procrastinating drawing his armor.

Goofy and Goober (Watch and Ward): I think they ended up really cute, I tried to make their hair colors close to Doc and Jacksons since I heard they are supposed to be like their "main" self inserts. With Ward I had a really specific idea for her hair, I kept thinking about this haircut from my sims and had to do it. It might be hard to see but her ponytail holders have skull charms on them. I also purposely gave them both some sort of ponytail hairstyle so they would match but be slightly different :) (They are absolutely prank calling or trolling their clients on that phone btw)

Shoreleave: OH MY GOD I LOVE SHORELEAVE. I kept turning her folder back on just to keep looking at her when I was drawing the other characters. She is so captivating to me, she looks so soft and human. I want to take a bite out of her thigh. My biggest inspo for her was Cammy from Street Fighter, I felt like her dressing a bit skimpy works for her since canon Shoreleave kinda does. The girls out for the girls.

Alchemist: I love her design so much too. I wanted her to look like some kind of nun or priestess. She looks like if a Zelda fire temple was a person. I kinda gave her like a weird little hime cut under the hood. Also I put the Triad logo on all three of their designs (+ Triana).

Jefferson: Had a lot of fun with her, I didnt change her design much from canon though so there's not much to say. I did give her more flared pants though. Drawing her hair was a really fun change of pace, I very rarely get to draw textured hair.

College Rusty and Monarch Drawing: I love this one, Monarch turned out so hot dude. You can tell what character I like more LMFAO. I made rusty very obnoxious 80s while keeping the colors of the original college rusty outfit. Monarch kind of looks like postal dude but its fine because shes slay.

Hereditary Venture Family Dinner Drawing: This was one of the first drawings I started but the second to last one I finished. I wanted to draw the family doing something together but I think I really truly just wanted to draw Dermott again. 😭 Nobody has said anything if they noticed but I did give hatred the shirt from these edits. (I believe the one on the left is from reddit and the one on the right is by SquashFold on Twitter)

Dermott piercing Dean's ears drawing: Even though its messy its in the top 3 favorites I did, It was also the last one I did. I just love the idea of Dermott giving goth Dean at home ear piercings. At first I didn't know if I wanted to make Dermott giving her piercings at the mall where she works or at home but the mall idea was too much work for a last minute sketch. Dermott is so mean older sister who shoplifts and works at the mall.

Drug bathroom drawing: Another one of my favorites, its based off a specific deleted scene from Invisible Hand of Fate where Pete and Rusty talk at the bar but Pete comes out of the bathroom sniffling at the start. I love the way I drew Pete pushing the hair out of her face and both of their expressions.

Bdsm 21 drawing: Okay first of all, The little devil Monarch was so cute I was screaming, crying, and throwing up while drawing her. I fucking love her, shes the smallest part of the image but my favorite. I also am quite fond of the bdsm 21.

Quizgirls Pete and Billy: I tried looking up Vanna White dresses to base Pete's outfit off of but I couldn't find one that Pete would actually wear so I just had to make shit up. Billy's design is really basic but the bow in her hair is actually from one of my rejected main Billy genderbends.

Me and The Bestie: I put a lot of effort into this one for no reason. Literally the moment I saw Jonas in the problem machine I thought he should be made of like blue slime. When I was working on this I kept thinking about Momopatchi's Hatsune Microbe drawing so this Jonas was definitely inspired by that. I gave Jonas makeup because she was having a party movie night on gargantua and I felt like she would still have makeup on thats like completely fucked up and deteriorating on her face after many many years. Vendata's outfit was partially based on Marguerite Chapman's from Flight to Mars, never seen it but I was looking up old sci-fi movie costumes to work with and I thought it would look good :)

Kou and Gaming met when they were both 14 – a little bit after Gaming ran away, their first meeting was in the pharmacy as Gaming was being treated by Baizhu because he got injured while working (was younger and less experienced in combat back then), and Kou brought back some meds Baizhu asked for. They talked for a little bit, but didnt think much of it at first.

Sure, they both wanted to be friends, but they werent sure if that would work out. Gaming knew how loud and extroverted he was, and he could see Kou was more of a reserved type, barely talking at all. He was simply worried that he would scare Kou off. Kou, on the other hand, could see Gaming was liked, had a group of friends – and the half-adeptus simply didnt think someone like Gaming would want to be friends with someone like him – Kou was always anxious, scared to talk, ofter losing verbality in social situations.

But Gaming ended up at the pharmacy more and more, at first because of how reckless he was, sometimes for deliveries, but with time, he started showing up just for Kou – he didnt say it though, always conveniently "was nearby, so I figured id visit".

As they got closer and closer, they both realized that despite them being polar opposites, some parts of them were really similar.

(b4 next part starts, i hc gaming as autistic and trans ftm because i can..... plus it fits his story ngl look at rhe event!!!)

Complicated family dynamics, their struggles with being trans, them both being autistic and how that affects them, their sense of not belonging anywhere — are the things that connected them, to name a few. They understood each other better than anyone else, felt safer with each other than with anyone else — sometimes it felt like these two were speaking the same language, while the rest of the world talked in a language unfathomable to them. And as the years passed, and they got closer, it was on a Lantern Rite when they were 16, when they finally confessed to each other under the glowing lanterns in the sky – far away from everyone else, as Gaming knew how overwhelmed Kou got in such gigantic social events. It was after that, after their confession, that Kou promised him that when one day, Gaming finally gets to perform infront of everyone, being the center of the celebration, he will be cheering him on from right there, always being his biggest supporter.

And he kept that promise, watching his boyfriend of already 2 years, being the center of the celebration, blinking away the sting in his eyes, never having been so proud before.

They know each others struggles and always do the best to help – Kou always being Gamings no.1 supporter, even when Gaming felt like it was going nowhere. Gaming treating Kous scars like any other part of his body, and sometimes leaving a few kisses on them when Kou is having a really tough day.

Now, some more miscellaneous stuff. When Kou is free, he always comes with Gaming to just be with him while Gaming practices his Wushou Dance, dancing along while Man Chai jumps around him. He is his biggest supporter after all. Sitting on the sideline, Kou takes it as a great opportunity, and pulls out his favourite sketchbook. He cant be blamed, as Gaming's energetic and fluid motions make for great anatomy practice — and the sketchbook would be just that, if not for the numerous pages of random doodles of Gaming, of his face, his body, just him. Luckily, Kous reflexes allow him to hide the sketchbook the second Gaming finishes and turns to him — he would rather explode than let anyone near that sketchbook.

Kou has trouble sleeping through the night, so he often naps a few times throughout the day — in his room, on a tree, away from anyone. But when him and Gaming are together, Gaming often lets Kou nap on his lap or his shoulder. (gets paid back for it in kisses when Kou wakes up)

They both have sensory issues, but Kous are way more extreme — so when theyre out getting dim sum, Gaming always offers to pick out the parts that are inedible for him. (unless its something inedible for him too...)

Hey vinnie! Really love your comics! I was wondering, what's your process when it comes to drawing them? Do you come up with dialogue first or draw the figures and piece together the dialogue, and how do you go about doing layouts?

this ask reminded me i have a whole ass "process vid" of THIS COMIC from over a year ago where u can see exactly what i do to plan that comic lol this is embarrassing i never thought id share it so do NOT be mean

i was curious myself how it looked which is why i made it heh this is 50 min of footage in almost 2 mins and idk why my superhero movie is the song of choice this is from a while ago OK... u can see i literally have no idea what im doing i just DOODLE i just go for it

i talk some more under the cut i <3 art but i am a serial doodler

i use the power of imagination a whole lot bc i have a pretty busy life so when i get an idea im like working it out in my mind as i live my normal ass life. when i actually do sit down to make it, first i sketch it all and will usually write certain bits in each "page"

its pretty similar. but as u can see i tend to skip some dialogues that im like. meh ill figure it out later. i just write what i know i wanted to add. and then i figure out the rest when i get to it, or i even change up what i already got, which results in it not being super planned. for example here i made ayano repeat "this is something..." in both her dialogues and i didnt realize until i finished and read the whole thing over but i was lazy to change it heh... but that was bc i write as i go and u can tell in mistakes like that.

as for layouts... erm i barely make actual layouts. this is kind of the same process for everything LOL except sometimes i feel like making actual boxes to put the characters in, but otherwise u can see that the majority of my comics are just all over the place like this. during the sketch i do separate it but then i try to divide it with only the speach bubbles. the layout where i put little boxes is when i dont mind making many pages, bc it fits less stuff.

which looks a lot more crowded. the reason is, i post here and on twitter (more amphibia on twitter) and since u have a limited amount of pics u can post (here in tumblr it used to be 10 pics), i wanted to fit as much as possible in only 1 page so it wouldnt be too many pics, and it morphed into this sort of layout that i became used to.

im a Go For It kinda guy when it comes to drawing. i like doodling and sketching and going with whatever i got first. the only reason i dont start the comic right away and even do the sketching first is bc i want to figure out where ill put everything, not so much bc im worried abt the art looking better in one or the other. as u can see the art is very similar in both cases

1. i made this during my first year of college, i wanted to do something kind of warm and sweet as a submission for my club's art magazine. i dont think anyone cared abt it too much bc the lgbt population there is. Small to say the least lmao. but i still liked how it turned out! i cant discredit myself for trying to experiment!

2. WHEWWW this one was an art trade and it took 2 months (i felt so bad and still do) and was the first time in a long time doing a big rendered piece so i was super nervous and unsure how i wanted it look. but i think it turned out ok!

3. i love looking back on the very first art from 2 years ago i made of my first active (and still) dnd pc, mimyr!! i still didnt know how i wanted to draw firbolgs' ears yet so you def see a transition there. shes grown and ive grown. i love her 🥺 old on left, newest on right for reference

heres the thought process (spoiler free, mostly based on patho 2)

me and my buddies were in a call for all of these and we had a very intellectual conversation about all of them. when looking for furry designs i usually think of personality, mannerisms, and likeness.

Aglaya, Shoebill

both of the friends i asked havent played the game past day 5 (one of them is on day 2) so i asked “what animal would she be” with just a picture of her model. i was interested to see what 2 people who’ve only seen her once (in the intro) would think of her purely on vibes and brief dialogue. the first suggestion was “some kinda bird” and that seemed to stick.

a bit tall, a bit intimidating. so we threw out Herons, Ostriches, Peacocks…

Shoebill seemed to fit. I wanted a bird that was either grey or black, some kinda desaturated color but also one that was tall and a bit scary. Shoebills are definitely considered pretty scary. theyre also super tall and i remember saying in the call "these things are huge if i saw them flying i would cry." when it comes to shoebills, i imagine them towering over most other animals, especially with that neck and beak! they're also ambush predators i believe. shoebills fit Aglaya's first impressions perfectly.

i almost made her a Dalmatian... im glad i didnt...

Rubin, Skinny Pig

I wasn't even going to initially draw Rubin here... it started by me asking "who'd be a naked mole rat?" and the immediate answer was "Rubin..." which made me remember that he was bald LMAO. I figured that fit a little, and the original drawing was him as a naked mole rat. a few things werent quite right though.

first, digging. i cant imagine Rubin as an animal who's entire thing is digging around and being dirty, he's a doctor and, other than blood, i can't imagine he'd wanna be dirty...

second, social groups. as far as i know, naked mole rats are very social within their own circles? just from the early game (as early as the first 3 days?) he's pretty antisocial and seems to have a distaste for the Kin, even if influenced by grief(the emotion not the person). he even seems reluctant to be close to close friends.

and, of course, moles have to be saved for someone else... we'll get there. WINK

..i dont remember how Skinny Pigs came up, i think i was just googling them and thought they were funny since i have a friend who owns some.. i did a bit of googlin and asking my buddy in the call about skinny pig mannerisms.. theyre pretty...territorial? at least males to other males, theyre pretty aggressive as far as i know. this definitely fit Rubin. the OTHER reason for any kind of guinea pig was considered was because of the concept of "test guinea pigs" and not in a literal sense, but just the concept, because of Rubin's connection to Isidor. i will say i felt like the smartest person on earth when i thought of that.

also the cute ears absolutely influenced the decision.

Lara, Generic Ass Wolf

Lara was genuinely so difficult... unlike the other two, there were literally no suggestions being thrown out. my description was something like "maybe something small, cute, short tempered, but social?" and, for some reason, that was a tall order. my first guess was a mouse, but that wasnt perfect... we thought we'd have to turn to bugs and fish, though a lot of bugs and fish are hard to find personalities for.. at a surface level at least. we decided to save bugs and fish for other people...

and then, the suggestion of "wolf" came up, albeit reluctantly. when it comes to furry-fying characters, wolves and dogs are definitely...up there, in terms of "most used/obvious".. but really, think about it.

Believe it or not, wolves can be a little anxious, if not in a way that presents itself as anger/defense. this is also how i described Lara, "anxious in a way that presents as anger." also, wolves, while sometimes being a little solitary, are commonly in packs. which is...Lara's, like, Whole Thing. a house for the living etc etc..

I don't think i need to explain wolves too much either way. theyre The Furry Animal. whatever you know about wolves is probably true for Lara. it seems low-effort but trust me this decision took forever LMAO

and i mean...look at her. she looks like a wolf

*Artemy here is a bull because... yeah. that's the most obvious one. as #1 artemy fan i couldn't in good conscious make him anything other than a bull even if it's low effort idgaf... ill look at types of bulls for him later.

😎 Sooooooo My Nephew is due TODAY ✨✨✨✨ my sister was induced this morning and is going back to the hospital night . It’s very likely that My nephew will be born on the 11 ( especially considering the first baby’s labor typically takes a REALLY LONG time and my nephew is my sister’s first) . So Dad , Mom and I decided to celebrate a bit with beer , pizza and there is also cake !!!!!!!

Now let’s see if I can come up with soo thoughts !!!!!

I will start it with , I read the new fic and it’s AMAZING like always and once again vulture proves why they have the title of god of lust with that smut !!!!! I have been talking with a friend and we all know how SB is a golden retriever , welllllll ….. my friend and I decided that Wolvie R is a grumpy old German Shepherd and that DK! Nat is a golden retriever ( Sgt Romanoff is of course a black cat) . My friend and I also decided that the CEO ! R is a high maintenance golden doodle , and that Nat was acting like a TRUE Black Widow ( much like the ones in the comics and muc) . I found a very interesting detail about how excited R got about talking about her work , her plans , tech in general and her company….. she has so much pride and passion in her work . Seeing how that played out is just soooo heartbreaking.

Ummmmmmm , let’s see if I can come up with something of a thought for the SB and DK universe.

I think Sarah ( SB’s sister) was induced when she had her son ( SB’s nephew) , SB was soooo excited ( think FULL BLOWN excited golden retriever completed with HONEST TO GOD ZOOMIES ) and was trying to be as supportive and helpful as possible . Getting Sarah snacks, helping her walking around, just anything and everything . They are even helpful and supportive of Sarah’s partner. SB told Nat that she didn’t have to come if she didn’t want to but Nat came anyways , Nat fell asleep in a chair and SB DIDNT SLEEP AT ALL ( they were READY for their nephew) . Ps I am fully projecting as my sister lives soooo far away from the rest of us so I won’t be able to see , meet or hold my nephew UNTIL JULY/ JUNE 😭😭😭😭 I will probably wouldn’t be able sleep tonight because I am sooo excited for my nephew!!!!!!

Soooo I had to clip my nails again today , my nails grow so damn fast that I have to CONSTANTLY cut them ( I FUCKING HATE those emery board things, they feel sooo weird and I HATE IT) . I think that R’s also CONSTANTLY has to cut/ clip her nails as they grow LONG and SHARP ( not like full blown CLAWS but still long and sharp) and soooo FAST , so she cuts and clips them so she doesn’t accidentally scratch the shit out of herself or others. She also has a bit longer Canine teeth, sharp ones too ( again NOT full blown fangs or anything like that) . R also HATES the dentist ( I can go more in depth on this later ) !!!!

I love all the analogies to dogs, they are all very fitting. And yep, CEO!R is definitely a golden doodle. I don't think she necessarily tries to be a high-maintenance or obnoxious person, it's kind of the way she was raised, and yes, she is actually extremely smart and talented, but as a woman in tech she is just not respected that way.

Sergeant Beef would be so excited for their coming nephew, and of course Sergeant Nat would be very impressed (and probably even feral) for them the whole time. And I hope you get to see your nephew in person at the earliest chance you get!

Lol, I wonder if Wolvie!R has the dexterity to cut her own nails with her claws on the other hand...that would probably be very dangerous though and Nat would make her stop immediately.

This is going to out me as the anon but I got too many ideas and wanted to show really bad how the au designs are in my brain because a lot of @scrap-brainzone 's stuff inspired with it and aus so this is a babble about it and some extra info on my aus!

(also at the end I made a doodle of gaige x ty x moze specifically in thanks and also to show appreciation as a gift)

ALSO SUPER SORRY THIS IS GOING TO BE A GIANT POST.

Going simple first, I wanted to show the differences, although I haven't touched Angelic Guardian in awhile and Hyperion brand new with posting I wanted to show anyways- I'll add tidbit about each under this, so sorry for anyone trying to decipher my chicken scratch

Underneath Ms Ceos heavy ass eyeliner and makeup is the eridium effects as displayed here, she's went under several different surgeries repeatedly trying to hide any of the effects and uses cameras and altering her look digitally to her advantage. Her big problem is she Can't let people know because she fears if people knew, they're going to try and kidnap her again. (Mildly irrational considering all her security but it's a fair worry.) She hasn't touched eridium since the end of BL2, so she's most clean, but with how much she had the damage has been done.

Ah, Fallen Heir au. Angel's given up caring about who sees, only hiding before to stay away from the Crimson Raiders and cultists, but after both sides know? It's so what to her. She's technically the most fit and least afraid to use her abilities because she doesn't care as much about hurting others around her. If I were to describe her attitude/self in one sentence of dialog it'd basically be, "They refuse to see me as anything but a monster, so that's what I'll be."

Alas, my dear Angelic Guardian. As you can see, she's very much not holding up well. Her suit uses eridium to help keep her going but still at what cost? She's technically extremely fit, but the repercussions are severe if she pushes too far. Her level of eridium poisoning is beyond dangerous, having been in stasis for 5 years while still receiving eridium to keep her alive. I'll end it here by saying this has severe consequences that unfortunately, she was doomed to face regardless.

Ai Ange? Well. Not very much of anything but mild traits. I, in turn, made one for Gaige with that au.

Angel isn't very the most comfortable with Gaige using eridium, mainly due to the fact its less "as needed" but she likes to test limits and see what she can really do.

moving on I made some goofies and such from my Fallen au, wanting to show interactions (Mildly for also scrap because I know tyreen and tygaige a favorite)

Tygaige alas, would heavy struggle unless we get villain redemption pt 2 like Angel, but she won't be very pleased about it at first before accepting. I'm a sucker for Gaigel, so it'll lean that way, but to entertain the idea would be interesting. I might do that sometime.

if you're curious though with Angel there, it is a shitpost and I have drawn it with the idea Tyreen was monologing, but Angel just turned off her shield and straight up shot a bitch. (Tyreen easily healed with eridium but it was the audacity that was most surprising) the fallen au is pretty funny because besides that, she's also: Made Troy punch himself, then also has made his arm punch Tyreen. Will hack their shows if she's upset enough and fucks with their things. General fun, yknow. An issue Ange faces in the end is because she's so "eridium enriched" it's like double tasty snack to the twins, so that's always fun. (In fairness to Troy and with another drawing, Angel in this au has also made Gaige punch herself a few times when she got upset. She's very petty and I support it)

AND LASTLY

This is a mild gift to scrap-brainzone! I'm really sorry thr quality and coloring isn't the best on this (or most of the images), I was mildly rushing from time and far too excited to finish this and post it to show.

FUCK I REALIZED I DIDNT ADD THE BLUSHES. GOD. I'll do it tomorrow and edit or reblog this one, god I knew I was forgetting something-

im so happy to hear all you have to say, and i mean it with my whole heart when i say that this means so much to me as i really do put a lot of thought and love into my ocs and stories regardless of what verse they're from :DD and im especially happy that you love my iterations of amphi and persephone because drawing them and doing stuff abt them is actually what helped me beyond my creative rut and really pushed me to improve on my craft, artwise storywise and writingwise and hearing that it paid off is so amazing !! even though i've fallen significantly out of ror and do need to check up on it a whole lot, i still think about my greek god blorbos often and i even thought about sketching a quick amphi in between my other works, but seeing as i am one hell of a procrastinator that didnt end up being the case,,,

but seeing this pleasant gift warmed my heart so much that i just had to open medibang again and doodle these two sweeties again in their lunar new year fits just to really exemplify my thank you!!

for the fourth and final week of @/shepscapade 's hermitcraft character design event, i offer an outfit swap between two blonde british minecraft men!

ok so im actually gonna take the opportunity to talk about how i generally design characters but especially mcyt characters. ill get to why grian and philzas designs are the way the are later but i wanna talk about how i design mcyt characters for a hot second. to start with i generally have two big rules when it comes to base character designs! they arent hard rules but i find them generally helpful when designing, again, base designs (so special one off style designs like the ones from this design challenge dont really count).

(1) is one i feel a lot of artists know, especially those in animation and comics - its KISS! aka 'keep it simple, stupid'. easily memorable and memorisable designs are good! more details can be good, especially for rendered pieces, but i find that designs i can easily remember and doodle from memory are the ones that stick and therefore become the base of other designs. the Silhouette Rule is also a good thumb rule, though i tend to be more loose with it - have your characters have one or more. identifiable? bits?? like, yknow, if your characters swap clothes with another what bits tell you this character is this character yknow? like with grian i have the two feather anime hair bits (and dave strider style hair) + four wings and a unique tail! and with philza i gave him antler horn things (because why not its unique ish) and, funnily enough since i dont use facial hair in my designs often his facial hair became a bit of an identifier too! my original character ambrosia has a signature bunny mask, big fwuffy coat, unique hair etc etc things like that!

the (2)nd mcyt design rule i have is literally a personal preference thing - No Humans. again its a personal preference but i. i cant!! theyre not real WHy Do They Have To Be Human!!! they dont!!!!! therefore they are not human. every mcyt if i can get away with it and find a good way to make them Not Human even if its like a simple tail or horns or what have you I Will Make Them Not Human. if they are human (tommy) then it means its like a cool story thing (tommys human) or its temporary until i find a better design (not for tommy) or for the case of Tommy Fuckin Innit idk his Vibes are Too Strong he Cant Not Be Human I DOnt KNow WHY. every character is lowkey on a scale of how many nonhuman features they have - grian with ear wings, four wings + tail, and funky birb legs and occasionally bird hands is on one end of that scale, and funnily enough philza - who by all means is human if not for the antlers (he can take his wings off) is on the other side of that scale. most designs i have are between those, notable exceptions doc who has four legs and a nonhuman face and Fuckin Innit.

now to actual design notes on the characters i drew - first up is grian! he has three sets of wings including his ears. its a personal headcanon that he gains a set of wings for every season of hermitcraft he was in, not including the one hes on now. so he has chicken ear wings (s6, poultry man) parrot wings (s7, pesky bird) and barn owl wings (s8, moon = owl). when the season ends im gonna find a bird thats sufficiently eldritch because with how the season has been going (rocks, entity, rift) it seems fitting. i generally give him glasses because he has them irl and also it fits - though i do tend to forget them because its uncommon in other grian designs and not actually on his mc skin. the tail i originally had as a more,, aquatic one? not that its not one now but like it had the mermaid tail end before. i didnt really like it! it looked cool but i felt like it didnt fit so i looked up more tail fins and chose one that looks vaguely like an axolotls but without the top fin part? if that makes sense. and it fit better and looks better so im proud of it but as is the nature of designs it may change at a later date

for philza i didnt really do anything special. kimono top with a looser bottom cause philza explores a lot, baggy pants and mostly human everything because it surprisingly fits? idk i feel like most phil designs i see lean more on the immortal angel of death thing he has but i feel like its more fitting if hes Just A Guy but hes tenacious enough that he Gains the nonhuman parts. the wings especially - a lot of people add those in by default but actually i feel like its more fitting if he only gets wings when he has an elytra! so on q/smp for example he doesnt have wings (even if he said theyre clipped that one time im a philza has no default wings truther he gets those by elytra and hes so good at them through practice you cannot change my mind). also in addition to the wings the elytra also gives him the coat poncho thing that i drew on grian because why not. also hardcore heart necklace!! hell yeah.

this is 100 percent another self indulgent jump! my first full attempt at drawing pearl! I love her! Ive done some doodles for the traffic series before, but thats about it. I didn't finish that pose here... but maybe after october!

Day 7 (VAUGE GORE WARNING)

this was a very low spoons day! I think the little cat (me!) explosion is funny though. for some reason I can't get a great picture for this one, but erm... I tried lol

I also didnt really draw anything actually all so gorey, but the sketch implications are there, so I put the warning still!

Day 8

I was also going to include the group/team prompt, but alas, my spoons! dear mumbo did not get a spot on this day... I also kept the features vauge because I just wanted to have fun with the clothes fit XD

Ive watched Grian from the Olden™ build tutorial/battle era and rps with Sam and Taurtis! he holds an important role in my childhood/creative life, and has continued to inpire me :D

also, it's very funny to me that I drew the silly bit, and then the next day watched his deck out wk 3 video only to cackle as he says the line! "Grian will remember that" funny timing...

Day 10

hc: fav hermit friendship / fav group/duo

life: insanity (uh oh)

the buttercups!! mumbo is so out of place here, but I was first just doing some good old desertduo, before remembering the tall spoon was already left out two days before! I couldn't possibly do it again, so I drew a happy buttercup Mumbo <3

is he a vampire? a gargoyle, perhaps? some other creature? who knows! not me, that's for sure! but I do know he has little fangs and slightly pointed ears!

amateur art advice from an amateur artist.

disclaimer. this isn't for people who want to make art their jobs (some of the advice may be useful to you, but some will very much not be). keep that in mind.

1. it's okay if you're not good. seriously. what matters is that you're creating and having fun (and if you're not having fun, perhaps there's something wrong).

good is subjective. when I was 13 and I drew big pretty anime eyes for the first time, I was super happy! and for me, it looked good. and it still looks good for someone out there, just like how people tell you how good your art looks when you think it's mediocre. it's not. your art is good, because you made it. Its true quality does not matter until you need it to for work. You're still learning, be good to yourself.

2. you've heard the PRACTICE advice from everyone ever, so I'll go with something different : try new stuff.

for all the summer holidays of 2021, I didnt draw at all, only doodled silly cats because yknow. mental illness. when I drew again, I tried drawing a full body pose, which I never succeeded in doing before. and I did it! obviously it wasn't perfect, but it was the best ive ever done. and now im pretty okay with drawing poses!

so try new stuff. try to draw busts from another angle, try to draw profiles. draw noses, draw combat poses, draw folds and old people and fat people and black people because i know most of the starting artists start with one type of character and stick to it (for me, it was front facing busts of skinny white girls with straight hair and no nose).

this also counts for objects, and animals, try to draw them (and try to draw people if you've only ever drawn animals or objects)

and again, it does not matter if it doesn't look good at first. don't get discouraged. your favorite artists have something they struggle with, the most famous and respected artists have struggled with some things and probably still disliked some parts of their work at their peak.

3. look at people. try to draw who you see. if you don't get out much or are scared to draw people when they're with you, then draw from photographs you have, or references (im begging new artists to look at references of actual human people. I'm on my knees. references are important, study what you see).

study your own face! when you take selfies or when you put on makeup or even just when you see your reflection - if you can, look at your face, the shape of your eyes, your nose, your lips, your face. I rediscovered this year that I actually have freckles and realized I have more of them on one side than the other. I realized my face is actually pretty androgynous and I have a soft square jaw. look at people. look at yourself, look at everything around you.

4. learn and try the tips other artists give you. once someone said that to draw both eyes the same way, you had to draw them at the same time, step by step, instead of doing one then the other. and it works! for me at least. don't be afraid to try stuff. you don't even have to keep doing it if you don't like how it looks or doesn't fit with your style, that's fine! just try to do things for a while, and if in the end it doesn't work out, you at least know this is a thing that exists and you know it doesn't work for you. knowledge is useful.

5. STOP. BEING. SO. HARD. ON. YOURSELF.

no one cares there's 10 years old kids who can draw better than you. no one cares you're starting at 30 years old, or 40, 50, any age that isn't teenagehood. and if there's people who care, they should not. you should draw because you want to. if drawing isn't making you happy, then stop, or try something else. if you are able, take art classes! do whatever makes you happy and stop thinking what you're doing is cringe, or bad, or ugly. it does not matter. what matters is if you're having fun or not. how "cringe" or "basic" it is does not matter.

I hope you keep loving art and I hope you keep doing art because there are people who want to see it. even if you think it's mediocre, even if it really is, even if you're a beginner. I hope you never stop doing art because you think it's never going to amount to anything.

So in late 2017 i was super hyperfixated on making oc's but no matter what characters i created i was never happy with them because they didnt have the flare i was looking for. Then one day in december i was doodling while watching buzz feed blue unsolved, the goat man episode, and boom, i made 2 characters i really liked and they were like monsters. It was my first time actually drawing monster like characters. From then on story grew and designs improved and characters were added. Now there is a bunch of lore i havent shared with anyone at all because im lazy. I always try to write it like a story but it's not what i want from it, i always dreamed of making a comic, i just dont have the spunk and determination that other comic artists have.

Anyway, a lot of elusiverse grew up on the internet because when i got really in depth with it i was experiencing my cringe tumblr years, and i got a lot of asks about them on a old account that i will never mention lmao. Thats where the name elusiverse came from, it was from someone who really liked my characters, but i'll be honest i dont like it and it's not fitting at all lmao i just stuck with it out of lack of ideas.

Im willing to share some of my writing drafts if anyone is interested, and share some old art and such. My toyhouse actually has some of the old art but only by like 2 years, not the good stuff if u know what i mean.

a summary for "elusiverse" is that there is this guy 6 the demon dude who is the size of a child for some reason, and he goes his whole life not even remembering his name, just waking up in a patch of green and flowers when he was like 3 or 4. suddenly over the years due to this big event everyone starts hating demons more and more, and violence on demons happen, then demons start to actually become bad because of it adding more to the bad rap, but 6 is just a guy trying to live, and surivive the harsh winters homeless, until one day he comes across this little town with people who are somewhat accepting, or people willing to listen to try to understand.

I love listening to my playlists, but even more than that, I love listening to my friend's playlists. MGMT when you die is quite frequently featured in there, & more in particular my beautiful friend used it in her wonderful series about her character so it's always been pretty fresh on my mind (I highly recommend checking it out https://www.tumblr.com/mumpsetc/722528720375742464/is-there-some-kind-of-electric-remains?source=share)

A song with a central theme about self destruction by villainizing yourself and lashing out towards those whod want to reach out towards you? WOW! SOUND FAMILIAR? I wonder if some other characters conflict aligns with that theme. Maybe I'd even make a pmv out of it. So I did

Wrote out a outline of the story beats like last time but skipped thumbnailing bcz its a pmv

Here's where I'd say I wasted the most of my time. First I wanted to get outside of the comfort zone of the brush I always used because I felt I had been relying on it too hard (and the horror if I was nothing without it), so I was like "for this video I HAVE to use a different brush it'll give it a different vibe etc it'll be great" but actually I hated it.

(I genuinely cannot stand this version so I can only deign to share the frame of them being stuffed into the calzones. It may look relatively okay but the signs of wrongness are there.)

Then I was like "no you know what I'll do it in mspaint. everyone loves mspaint Hollyleaf The Wolf Pmv was done in mspaint and thats so good" So I did that and 1. I don't like that mspaint has layers now but maybe I'm just a pussy 2. I sucked

(The way I drew her here bothers me so much. Absolutely lacking in distinctness and personality. Utterly Souless. I got scared looking at this and thinking how it reflects back on to me as a person. Also just too busy from the lack of a tight color palette and time consuming if i decided to actually color every single little thing. Incoherent all together.)

so I've wasted a week not being able to decide wtf or where I wanted to even start this project

But its ok because next I hop onto krita. this time I make the canvas not too wide but not as small, play with a pen and stick with it, and call me goldilocks the way it was juuust right.

The only reason I could complete this is because my friends are the fucking goats. I couldnt have finished this without their encouragement but also it would not nearly be half as nice to look at without all their feedback

Now finally: Some roughs that I paticularly liked and Some frames that didnt make it in because it's little awkward and too janky

I think in the final version for img 1 doesnt have as much despair or awareness? it fits the description of not feeling the effects of too much ice cream yet comparetively to the draft where she seems incredibly pained, both versions work i guess. img2 I think the doodler being inside her was probably a incredibly physically and emotionally painful process and also i dont believe some schewpid collar could contain eldritch chaos. img3 originally i was suggested to have picture terry blink but it looked really creepy to me. img4 this angle feels weird and the timing would be too fast.

I tried multiple. multiple times but the editing and timing still seems wrong so please forgive the roughness of it all

Introducing Myself

Hiya! As this is the very first post, I thought it better than any to make it all about ME! lol just kidding, this is Meeko's world and I'm just the chauffeur.

Meeko (often referred to as Meeks, Bubbas, Sweet boy, or The Puppers) is a Golden Doodle born Dec. 11, 2019 in Midland, Texas. He came home with me in February the following year so technically that doesn't count as a Pandemic Puppy, but he lived that pandemic puppy life. After 2 months of having him, his whole world consisted of just him and me. When the bulk of the pandemic was over and life at work went back to normal, he was not okay with it BUT traveling was safe and okay again, so his world got much bigger! My late teens, early 20s I was fortunate enough to travel Europe. Mostly on my own (less of a hassle to bring others along, get to go where I wanted when I wanted and do what i wanted) and I had the time of my life! The time came when I had to move back to the States, and it was SCARY! I had lived in Germany for 13 years; my whole life was about to be turned upside down. For a while I stayed in the city I moved to, spending much needed time with family, who normally only got to see me a few weeks out of the summer and had to share me with other family in other states. So, a few weeks for me but only a few days for each of them. Anyways life got boring pretty fast for me. That travel bug just kept biting. Most of my family have lived where they live for YEARS. So, I traveled to the same 3 states each summer. I NEEDED to see what else the states had to offer. I didn't want to do it alone anymore but also didn't know anyone whose jobs gave them as much time off as mine did so a puppy I decided was the best option. I had always wanted a puppy! If there was a puppy at a party, that's who I was with. My best friend and I dog sat for people all the time but just wasn't in the card for me to have one of my own at the time. My first apartment in the states was also my first time living alone. Saw on Instagram a lady had a few doodles left and in my heart I knew. The timing of having my own place plus the exact breed of dog I've wanted my whole life being available, I was getting a fur bestie for sure! When I went to go see the pups, I really didnt think I would be bring one home. I just wanted to look and see if it would be a good fit. Didn't even have the okay with the place I was living at yet. oops. But when I stepped foot in that yard looking at the light brown curly haired princess I saw in the picture and wanted so badly DIDN'T give me a minute of her time, I thought okay maybe not. I looked down and realized the white chunky ball of fur who was chewing on my shoe lace, hadn't left my foot the entire time. I really wanted a light brown color puppy but my little prince was holding on to my shoe for dear life! Got him to stopped chewy but then he SAT ON MY FEET and just followed me around when I was trying to meet his sisters. He chose me and I knew I couldn't walk away from him.

Now him and I pack up my car and go wherever our hearts desire. He loves being outside, as long as I'm there. If I try to leave him in the yard at my grandma's, lol he sits on the chair and looks at us through the kitchen window while the other dogs play. Once we let him in or we sit outside with him, he's full on dog mode. His first car ride made him a bit sick but now all I have to do is open one door and he's the first one to jump in! Long car rides don't bother him, I like to think it's because he knows the destinations are always worth it! He loves othe animals and people. Not so much babies but in a Ew leave me alone kind of way. I think he doesn't know what do with them so he just slowly leans away lol. I think because of his fur maybe, he is not a fan of dog beds and only lays on the furniture for a minute before going to any area that doesn't have carpet or anything soft. He's big and fluffy so he prefers wood floor or the cool garage ground.
