A newspaperman I know, who was stationed in London during the war, says tourists go to England with preconceived notions, so they always find exactly what they go looking for. I told him I'd go looking for the England of English literature. And he said, "Then, it's there."

Time travel is a reality! However, it's still in the early stages, and you can only go as far back as seventy-something years.
Feel free to explain your reasons in the tags :P

an incomplete list of reasons why the 1980 animated rotk is fucking unmatched
- all the hobbits have british accents except pippin, who speaks like a born and raised new yorker
- the first 10-15ish minutes are a musical recap of the first two installments because, fun fact, this was the follow up to a movie that covered fellowship and about half of two towers and nothing else so most of two towers is just completely left out
- theoden was voiced by the original voice of scooby doo
- gollum is a little green frog
- it’s a musical, but instead of using any songs tolkien wrote (lyrics and melodies, which are out there somewhere, so that’s a fun fact!), they wrote their own, including disco BANGER Where There’s A Whip There’s A Way
- the witch king sounds exactly like skeletor
- the scene with eowyn and the witch king is done BIZARRELY well
- elrond is also a weird little frog (as opposed to the 1978 fellowship/two towers movie, where he was essentially just a guy)
- aragorn has pants in this one, unlike its predecessor
-legolas and gimli are entirely cut for time, though there’s still time for a dream sequence in which Sam fantasizes about a better, kinder world where his nextdoor neighbors in the shire are whimsical gay orcs
- faramir isnt in it, so denethor just kinda sets himself on fire for fun

okaya! watching the shining (1980) specifically for the soundtrack (gotta do a presentation on dies irae in a composition so i'm going with this!! also bc i am obsessed with wendy carlos and her work
right off the bat, i think the cyan default text windows movie maker credits are very funny. i've heard it's supposed to be subversive. we'll see.
soundtrack: slaps! i love the theme and also "rocky mountains", one of the other carlos tracks. very good for vibe setting
tho hearing this baroque-synth desolate gregorian chant theme behind those titles is hilarious
