House of the Dragon + art — Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel "Better to Reign in hell than to serve in heaven"
Moreover, the prince at first refused to be a part of his mother's plans. "My sister is the heir, not me," he says in Eustace's account. "What sort of brother steals his sister's birthright?" Only when Ser Criston convinced him that the princess must surely execute him and his brothers should she don the crown did Aegon waver.... "Rhaenyra has no choice but to take your heads if she wishes her bastards to rule after her" It was this, and only this, that persuaded Aegon to accept the crown that small council was offering him, insists our gentle septon.
The Painting The posture is more sulky and defiant than remorseful. The head is raised, and there's that tear in his right eye, but the eyes themselves smoulder with silent anger, and clasped, linked hands, and elevated elbowls indicate that the struggle isn't done. His brilliant, glossy, gracefully flowing feathery wings and breathtaking. He's all set to take off. (x)

A room in Can Papiol house-museum in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Penedès, Catalonia).
Since the year 1790 and throughout the 19th century, this was the home of one of the wealthiest families in the small city of Vilanova i la Geltrú: the Papiol family, who owned many vineyards around the city. The house has preserved its 19th century interiors, and nowadays it's a house-museum that allows visitors to see what a 19th century upper class family home was like.
The house includes a library with about 6,000 books written between the 16th and the 19th centuries, as well as a music room, a billiard room, a ballroom where the family hosted music parties and literary meetings, a dining room, the bedrooms, a small private chapel, the servants' rooms, areas for servants to do domestic work and for farmers to do their work, stables, and a little Romantic garden.

In any case it seems that Maria Theresa had expected a daughter. One of her courtiers, Count Dietrichstein, wagered against her that the new baby would be a boy. When the appearance of a girl, said to be as like her mother as two drops of water, meant that he had lost the bet, the Count has a small porcelain figure made of himself, on his knees, proffering verses by Metastasio to Maria Theresa. He may have lost his wager but if the new-born augusta figlia resembled her mother, then all the world would have gained.

Fanart of Philip V of Spain
I illustrated him savoring his dinner after a long day. He took a bite of his steak but found it chewy and dry. He instructed a servant to remove the steak and chose to eat pastries and tarts instead.
Dedicated to my friend, @philippeducdanjou, @chateau-de-gamin and @felipe-v-fanblog
I hope you all liked it, Thank you

Queen Charlotte (1744-1818) with her two Eldest Sons
Artist: Johan Joseph Zoffany (German, 1733-1810)
Date: 1764
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Royal Collection Trust, United Kingdom
Description
This painting shows the Princes appearing only fractionally older than the painting of George, Prince of Wales and Frederick, later Duke of York at Buckingham House (Royal Collection), suggesting that both works must have been on the artist’s easel simultaneously. This might explain why the head of the Queen here and in the portrait on the wall of the other painting follow the same pattern. The setting here is also Buckingham House, but this time the King’s apartments on the ground floor garden façade; these were less redecorated and therefore preserved more of the character of the 1702-5 building campaign and can be seen in an anonymous view of the rear of the house painted at this time.
Zoffany has placed the Queen’s dressing table directly in front of the back door at the centre of the garden façade — the glimpse of formal garden, the height of the aperture and the fenestration of the rooms visible beyond admit of no other explanation. This is clearly a very unlikely position for a dressing table, and suggests either that the Queen was temporarily occupying these rooms while her apartments above were being redecorated or that Zoffany has stage-managed the scene in order to achieve the effect of vistas opening in every direction.

Fidelia and Esperanza
Artist: Benjamin West (British-American, 1738–1820)
Date: 1776
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Timken Museum of Art, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA, United States
Description
The neoclassical style oil on canvas painting Fidelia and Speranza portrays a scene from the epic poem The Faerie Queene, written by Edmund Spenser. Together Fidelia, representing faith, is holding the New Testament while her sister Speranza; representing hope, wait at the entry of the House of Holiness for the arrival of the Red Cross Knight. The knight, representing humanity, is lead through the ominous landscape by Una who represents spirituality. West depicts the two sisters in classical dress. Their elegant gestures and graceful contrapposto reveal West's, an American, admiration of the classical sculpture and artwork of the European old masters.
