The Horai were the goddesses of seasons and natural portions of time.

Chose to portray them as triplets this time. Of course, It would be fun to depict them as more "elemental", but I went with simple human designs for this. I plan to have them printed on my new thank-you cards soon. ✨

TBH I think our country has two routes forward:

Consolidate Valentine's Day and Easter into a single Definitive Spring Holiday able to compete with the Fall/Winter megacomplex.

Launch a risky and expensive investment campaign targeting both holidays. This would be difficult, involving five-year plans, aggressive onshoring of kitsch supply chains, and a lot of compromises, but it might be the only way to durably challenge the dominance of "The Holidays" in the medium-to-long term.

Description

This painting illustrates a story from James Thomson’s popular poems The Seasons 1726–1730.

The rural lovers Palemon and Lavinia appear in Thomson’s Autumn; they are adapted from the Biblical story of Ruth and Boaz. Palemon, a gentleman, professes his love for the country girl Lavinia, in a harvest-time setting. Thomson’s sentimental fantasy of rural romance was particularly attractive to a generation brought up on the ideals of Sensibility.
