A Complete and (Hopefully) Accurate Timeline of Carmen Sandiego

During my second rewatch of this show (I only found it in December okay) I suddenly found myself with a burning question, when the hell is all of this going on?

I quickly realized I could go and find out

So I began my 3rd rewatch, and a month later here we are

Each date is bolded with a brief description of the event and the episode in which you can find the information. Any quotes are taken from what is said within the show and only altered in order to flow with my sentence structure

As a disclaimer this is my first pass at the timeline and what I've immediately noticed while rewatching the show, please tell me if I've missed anything 🙏

March 01, 1999 - Carmen Sandiego is born (Season 2 Episode 10)

Carmen's birthday in previous media has been declared as March 1st, so I'm keeping that for simplicities sake. The year 1999 comes from Vera Cruz's tombstone; Vera Cruz "died" two weeks before her estate burned down, and as Carmen was beginning to walk at this time it places her at anywhere between 9-18 months of age.

This does give leeway for her to be born in 1998 (born in March 1998, house burns in Jan-Sep 1999) or 1999 (born in March 1999, house burns around December 1999) I chose 1999 because it would mean Carmen would be 20 (what Duane has declared Carmen's age during the events of the show) in 2019 (when the show aired) which I found fitting.

December 1999 - Vera Cruz's estate in burns down, Dexter Wolfe is killed. (Season 2 Episode 10)

June 2000 - Carlotta Valdez opens an orphanage (Season 4 Episode 8)

Chief relays while going over Dexter Wolfe and Carlotta Valdez's files that Valdez founded an orphanage 6 months after Wolfe's death.

March 01, 2015 - Carmen turns 16 (Season 1 Episode 1)

September 2015-February 2016 - Carmen receives her first call from Player (Season 1 Episode 1)

Duane has stated that Carmen was 16 when Player first called. Under the assumption that VILE follows a standard school year for the area (September-June), Carmen has to get this call after September so she enrolls in the following year, when she's instead 17. If she starts her first year at 17 as opposed to 16 it gets her closer to 20 when the show starts.

tl;dr: Player calls Carmen after the school year begins in September but before she turns 17 in March so it's as close to accurate to Duane's estimation of age later in the timeline.

March 01, 2016 - Carmen turns 17 (Season 1 Episode 1)

September 2016 - Carmen's first year at VILE Academy begins (Season 1 Episode 1)

December 01, 2016 - Cookie Booker arrives at VILE Island, Carmen and her classmates pull prank and get detention. (Season 1 Episode 1)

March 01, 2017 - Carmen turns 18 (Season 1 Episode 1)

June 2017 - VILE final exams, graduation, and Casablanca Caper (Season 1 Episodes 1-2)

July 2017-August 2017 - Carmen spends her summer under close scrutiny by the Faculty for her actions in Casablanca (Season 1 Episode 2)

Player, once Carmen retrieves her phone as she's attempting to escape the island, claims that Carmen hadn't "called [him] all summer long". Player is Canadian, their school years typically follow the September-June schedule, further implying that this same schedule is implemented at VILE Academy.

September 2017 - Carmen's holdover year begins (Season 1 Episode 2)

December 01, 2017 - Cookie Booker arrives with VILE hard drive, Carmen escapes the island (Season 1 Episode 2)

March 01, 2018 - Carmen turns 19

March 2018-May 2018 - Events of the Boston Tea Party Caper (Season 2 Episode 5)

Carmen recalls that the Boston Tea Party Caper had "been a few months since [she] escaped from VILE Island" and that "months of preparation were about to be put to the test" "A few months" is pretty vague, I'd say it's more than 2 months but less than 6. With graduation presumably happening in June, and El Topo being confused in his confrontation with Carmen because she "did not graduate", we can assume the new year had not yet concluded. This makes the cutoff for the Caper's events May.

May-June 2018 - Switzerland, Cairo, and Shanghai Capers (Season 1 Episode 1)

Carmen engaged in at least 3 additional Capers following the Boston Tea Party Caper (Season 2 Episode 5) but prior to the events of the first episode, information given to us courtesy of Devineaux and Julia's conversation at the beginning of the first episode.

Devineaux claims that "in just the last few weeks, this Carmen Sandiego has managed to rob millions of euros combined". A few weeks is a broad range of time, but likely not more than a month or so, which is why I've placed these three capers only slightly before the Poitiers robbery.

June 2018 - Carmen robs Cleo's vault in Poitier, runs into Crackle on train to Paris (Season 1 Episodes 1-2)

This event is 18 months prior to ACME taking Graham into custody and restoring his memories. As Devineaux is questioning him in the Big Bad Ivy Caper (Season 4 Episode 2), he asks if Graham would "care to tell [him] what [he was] doing on the train from Poitiers to Paris 18 months ago".

The events of the Big Bad Ivy Caper happen in December 2019, which if we track to 18 months prior, would be June. December 2019 is explained later in the timeline.

June-August 2018 - Events of the Sticky Rice Caper (Season 1 Episode 3)

August 2018 - Julia Argent and Chase Devineaux transfer employment from Interpol to ACME (Season 1 Episode 4)

In the French Connection Caper (Season 1 Episode 9), Devineaux's transfer from Interpol is stated to be "nearly 6 months ago" by Bellum as the Faculty observes the data they had managed to collect on him. With the French Connection Caper taking place in February 2019 (right before Hot Rocks of Rio Caper (Season 2 Episodes 1-2), which is Carnival, which is celebrated in February), August is "nearly 6 months" prior to that.

August 2018-February 2019 - Events of Season 1 Episodes 5-8

February 2019 - Events of the French Connection Caper (Season 1 Episode 9)

Early-Mid February 2019 - Events of The Hot Rocks of Rio Caper (Season 2 Episodes 1-2)

Mid February 2019 - Events of The Daisho Caper (Season 2 Episode 3)

February 19, 2019-February 25, 2019 - Events of The Fashionista Caper (Season 2 Episode 4)

To explain the previous five dates, the Hot Rocks of Rio (Season 2 Episodes 1-2) and Fashionista Capers both have events that only happen at a specific time of year, that being Carnival and Milan's Fashion Week respectively. They happen in late February to early March depending on the year. As Season 2 is set in 2019, this happens to be a bit inconvenient. Carnival actually happens in March while the fashion show occurs in February during 2019.

Since these dates conflict with the linearity of the show I've decided to push back Carnival to be sometime earlier in February as it has been in past years to fit with the show's continuity. I kept Milan's Fashion Week as it was in the real world because it's easiest that way.

It's entirely unsurprising to me that this kind of conflict has occurred as Season 2 was released in 2019 itself, meaning it was most definitely developed prior with general estimates of dates in mind.

With these capers directly following the French Connection Caper (as Devineaux is still in the hospital when Carmen is in Rio) that places The French Connection Caper in February as well.

March 01, 2019 - Carmen turns 20

March 2019-April 2019 - Events of Season 2 Episodes 6-7

April 2019 - Events of The Stockholm Syndrome Caper (Season 2 Episode 8)

The Need for Speed (Season 2 Episode 6) and Crackle Goes Kiwi (Season 2 Episode 7) Capers don't really have any indicators of when they occur, but The Stockholm Syndrome Caper happens while snow is still falling in Stockholm, Sweden. This places it in April at the latest, which is likely actually the month it takes place because at the end of the episode when Maelstrom and the rest of the faculty are addressing VILE's final graduating class Maelstrom mentions Valborg, a Swedish holiday that is celebrated at the end of April to announce the end of winter and coming of spring.

May 2019 - Shadowsan's goes on Capers during Carmen's recovery (Season 2 Episode 9)

As Valborg happens at the end of April, and so too does presumably the Stockholm Syndrome Caper (Season 2 Episode 8) as well, this means that Shadowsan's capers occur throughout the duration of May. He goes on at least four capers during Carmen's recovery period, which we can discern through what is briefly relayed by Player. These Capers take place in Belgium, Poland, Taiwan, and an area in the Austrian Alps; their cities being Antwerp, Krakow, and Taipei respectively. Her absence likely spans the majority of this month between the amount of rest she needed and the time it took to train so that she would be in the best condition to return to capers.

June 2019 - VILE Headquarters is blown up (Season 2 Episode 10)

June 2019 (1 week after explosion) - Devineaux arrives at VILE Island (Season 2 Episode 10)

June 2019 - Events of The African Ice Caper (Season 2 Episode 9)

June-July 2019 (1 week after Devineaux's arrival) - Carmen arrives at VILE Island (Season 2 Episode 10)

VILE Headquarters is blown up following the graduation of VILE Academy's final class. Back at the end of the Stockholm Syndrome Caper (Season 2 Episode 8), Coach Brunt tells the students that "upon graduating, it will be [their] prime directive to take [Carmen] down". This implies that at the time of the faculty's speech, those students were not yet graduating, so VILE would have to wait until after the school year had closed to wipe the island.

Since this school year likely ends in June, as previously gone over in this timeline, that means that the events occurring in the African Ice (Season 2 Episode 9) and Deep Dive (Season 2 Episode 10) Capers were sometime in June as well. This is further supported by the fact that in the Luchadora Tango Caper (Season 3 Episode 1), VILE had seen "no sign of [Carmen] all summer long" and ACME had not "heard nor seen any sign of her for weeks". Her last appearance until the Luchadora Tango Caper was when she stole information from ACME directly after the African Ice Caper, right at the edge of summer.

October 30, 2019 - Events of The Luchadora Tango Caper (Season 3 Episode 1)

We know this caper has to take place sometime in the fall, as per the summer statements made by VILE and ACME. It's clarified that this is specifically October because at the end of the episode Maelstom mentions that "Halloween is nearly upon [them]". As Halloween is at the end of October, you can put two and two together. 30th is further defined in the Day of the Dead Caper (Season 3 Episode 2), which takes place on the 31st (VILE is dressed up for Halloween), when you see Julia and Chase talking to Chief directly after the events of the Luchadora Tango Caper.

October 31, 2019 - Events of The Day of the Dead Caper (Season 3 Episode 2)

The Day of the Dead is traditionally celebrated November 1st and 2nd, though dates prior and post can also be included depending on the location. In this case, the episode showcases the celebrations on October 31st, aka Halloween.

Vlad and Boris are seen "trick or treating" and VILE is dressed up for the occasion, with it decidedly being Cleo's "worst Halloween ever" after Spinkick and Flytrap's failure at the end of the Caper.

Player also directly addresses the fact that "festivities typically begin the night before, on All Hallows' Eve", with All Hallows' Eve being an alternative name for Halloween.

On a slightly different note, the episode also addresses part of VILE's school year, as there were "delays caused by the move", they were forced to begin classes in "the winter quarter [that] year". This further proves their September-June schedule as it implies that the school year typically begins in the fall.

November 02, 2019 - Events of The Haunted Bayou Caper (Season 3 Episode 3)

The "Crawfish King", local celebrity chef in New Orleans, hosts a costume gala at his historic mansion "the first Saturday after Halloween" every year, stated in the episode by CK himself. With Season 3 presumably occurring in 2019, this makes Halloween a Thursday and the first Saturday thereafter November 2nd.

November 04, 2019 - Events of the Masks of Venice Caper (Season 3 Episode 4)

At the beginning of the episode, the VILE Faculty are seen eating excess Halloween candy; while Cleo complains about their indulgence, Maelstrom addresses "last night's bayou fiasco", and that they're looking forward to Cleo's "mask-themed scheme".

Since the operatives were "preparing to rendezvous as [they spoke]", this means the caper happens directly after they address it in conversation. This also means both Devineaux and Carmen are flying to Italy the morning of November 3rd, after the Bayou Caper. As this flight is about 12 hours, they would have landed in the evening/very early morning in Italy, meaning that their exploration around the city and actual Caper would have had to have happened the next day, November 4th.

November 05, 2019 - Events of The Jolly Good Show Caper (Season 3 Episode 5)

Player clearly says in the episode that "it's the 5th of November, a British holiday" when Carmen asks why VILE would want to steal the British crown jewels on that specific day.

You can also deduce that it's the 5th because a the end of the Masks of Venice Caper as Mimebomb is reporting the night's events, Roundabout reassures the faculty that "before the day [was] over, [they would] have Neal the Eel slithering free, and Carmen Sandiego in [their] clutches". As this report is happening the morning after the failed caper, this would place the Jolly Good Show Caper the ensuing night of November 5th as well.

November 2019 - Events of the Beijin Bullion Caper (Season 4 Episode 1)

The fourth season begins with Roundabout and Neal's mind wipe, though it goes awry. As it's presumably the morning after the Crown Jewels disaster, very little time passes between the Jolly Good Show and Beijing Bullion Caper.

Early December 2019 - Events of The Big Bad Ivy Caper (Season 4 Episode 2)

Player begins attending school this episode in December (with the Big Bad Ivy Caper happening on his first day of school).

We can deduce this month based on the calendar in Julia's office, observable in the V.I.L.E. History (Season 4 Episode 5) and Egyptian Decryption (Season 4 Episode 6) Capers. The month they are in during this time is composed of 5 weeks, with the last four days grayed-out, presumably cutting into the next month. This makes the month 31 days, lining up well with December.

Originally I had believed that this calendar had perfectly lined up with that of December 2019 (with the 1st of the month being a Sunday and the 31st a Tuesday), but then I realized the calendar Julia has is likely one that follows the month by Monday-Sunday rather than Sunday-Saturday.

This does mean that is is slightly off from what I thought previously, but still rather fitting nonetheless. Friday the 26th, as Julia had marked for her and Devineax's meeting, would instead be Friday the 27th on the 2019 calendar, so everything still more or less works out.

Now, to explain how this all relates to Player in school and the Big Bad Ivy Caper, we need to actually look forward into the Himalayan Rescue Caper (Season 4 Episode 4) as well. During the Himalayan Rescue Caper, Devineaux attempts to talk to Julia about Carmen and she postpones their conversation until "next Friday, at noon". This places the Himalayan Rescue Caper a week prior to the Egyptian Decryption Caper (when Devineaux arrives for lunch and finds Julia missing).

It is also addressed in the Himalayan Rescue Caper that Carmen didn't want to involve Player on the mission because he had "already been sent to detention on [her] account, and [it was] only his first week in school". THIS means that the Big Bad Ivy Caper (Player's first day of school) was about a week prior to the Himalayan Rescue Caper which is a week prior to the Egyptian Decryption Caper

tl;dr 2nd Week of December: Player starts school, Big Bad Ivy Caper

3rd Week of December: Robo + Himalayan Rescue Caper ("it's only his first week in school")

4th Week of December: V.I.L.E. History and Egyptian Decryption Capers (calendar lines up with Dec 2019, Devineaux lunch meeting marked for 26th)

Mid December 2019 - Events of The Robo Caper and The Himalayan Rescue Caper (Season 4 Episodes 3-4)

These events are back to back, with Graham's kidnapping and then ensuing rescue being a time-sensitive issue. Reason for December already explained.

Mid-Late December 2019 - Carmen acquires the ancient VILE relics (Season 4 Episodes 5-6)

Carmen hunts the VILE relics in two episodes, likely only a few days prior to her escapade in Egypt as she's actively racing VILE from location to location.

December 27, 2019 (~1 week post Himalayan Rescue Caper) - Devineaux goes to Julia's office for lunch, Carmen and Devineaux save Julia in Egypt (Season 4 Episode 6)

The calendar on Julia's desk is marked for the 26th, with it likely following the month from Mon-Sun as opposed to Sun-Sat (previously gone over in the Big Bad Ivy Caper). This would in fact make the 26th a Friday, though in 2019 this was not actually the case. The 26th was a Thursday and 27th a Friday, so I've pushed the date a day forward to match.

I doubt the creators were observing a 2019 calendar in order to precisely select a date for this event so I'm just rolling with what I've got.

Devineaux leaves Oxford for Egypt sometime after noon (when he was meant to meet Julia), and he and Carmen rendezvous at the pyramids to save Julia later in the day as the sun is setting, not quite cutting into the 28th.

December 28, 2019 - Julia and Devineaux give statements to the reporters for their historic find in the pyramids, Julia meets with Chief (Season 4 Episode 6)

It is the following morning when Julia and Devineaux talk to the press, as it's now light out.

Julia is seen in her office later in the day (back in Oxford), observing the footage when Chief appears to speak to her and schedule a meeting with Carmen.

December 29, 2019 - Carmen and Chief meet, Carmen is kidnapped (Season 4 Episode 6)

When Player analyzes Julia's most recent blog post, he tells Carmen that "if you line it up like a date and time, it's tomorrow, at 8 AM", in reference to the coded numbers at the end of each paragraph.

After Carmen and Chief's brief conversation on the 29th Carmen sits on a bench sometime later observing the city, and is subsequently kidnapped by VILE.

December 30, 2019 - Team Red hunts for clues about Carmen's location, Julia rejoins ACME, Carmen is brainwashed (Season 4 Episode 7)

It is late when we see Shadowsan at the grounds in which Carmen was captured in Seattle. Player claims to have "spent the last 24 hours hacking into every surveillance feed in Seattle [he] could find", meaning Carmen had been missing for an entire day.

In that same time frame across the city, Julia reunites with Devineaux as an ACME agent once again

We proceed to jump to Carmen whose memories are forcibly wiped in order to turn her into a VILE operative, all within the same evening.

January 20-January 26, 2020 - Shadowsan returns to the ruins of VILE Island (Season 4 Episode 7)

The show says that Shadowsan's return is three weeks after Carmen's kidnapping, but it's unclear how long "three weeks" refers to, as it could be exactly 21 days or bordering on four weeks with up to 26.

January 21-January 27 - Carmen goes on her first caper as a VILE Operative (Season 4 Episode 7)

The Caper is held the day after Shadowsan acquires information about the plan while on the island, so depending on when the three week jump is, this is the day after.

March 01, 2020 - Carmen turns 21 July 2020 - Carmen joins VILE faculty (Season 4 Episode 7)

Six months time jump, ACME has been assessing Carmen's crimes and is back to putting all their assets into taking her down.

VILE recognizes Carmen as their finest operative, and votes to have her join the Faculty.

??? 2020 - Carmen attempts to steal the Eye of Vishnu, memories restored (Season 4 Episode 8)

We don't know exactly when this caper happens. There's enough time for rumors about Carmen's plans to circulate, Gray to contact Chief, and Chief to pull strings to get the Eye of Vishnu back on display.

I would give this a few months preparation wise, but not an exponential amount of time.

2022 - Uptick in criminal activity due to prison breaks, Carmen's (presumably first) sighting (Season 4 Episode 8)

2 years after VILE began to crumble, they begin to show signs of activity once again following some prison breakouts. Julia, Devineaux, Zack, and Ivy (now apart of ACME) arrive at the scene of a supposed heist, only to find the culprit (Paperstar) already tied up with Carmen's silhouette on the rooftop.

Ending Ages for Characters with Confirmed Ages During the Show:

Carmen: 23 (20 during most of show)

Ivy: 22 (19 during most of show)

Zack: 21 (18 during most of show)

Player: 19 (16 during most of show)

So, the Marvelous CEO stepped down.

Let's talk about that!

Following the money

For those unaware, Marvelous isn't doing so well fiscally. In response to a (consistently) poor earnings report from 2024, the current Marvelous CEO Sato Suminobu announced his retirement from the position to elevate Shinichi Terui (an executive director) in his place.

The reasoning for the poor fiscal reporting was cited as "too few core IP releases and low sales".

What does that mean for the future? Well, while this decision focuses on 2024's performance, let's first take a bit to recap the first-time releases from 2019 to now:

Dry Spells

From 2019 to 2024, 23 titles (please correct me if I missed any!) were delivered. 2022 and 2024 were undoubtedly fiscally dry periods, with one-year periods between releases.

Of the released titles in this period, 10 were from more notorious series; and 6 of those were from the company's self-described Flagship IPs (3 from Story of Seasons and Rune Factory respectively)!

Despite Rune Factory and Story of Seasons being flagship IPs, over half of the games (4/6) released 2019-2024 were remakes or remasters of previous titles (Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, Rune Factory 4 Special, Rune Factory 3 Special, and Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life), leaving only 2 titles as standalone, new mainline entries in their respective series. Oh, and there was Doraemon too, I guess.

Even with the massive sales seen - with Pioneers of Olive Town being the fastest selling XSEED published title ever and Rune Factory 5 topping 500,000 units sold worldwide after an unprecedented comeback - the games still massively under-performed at launch. The backlash was so strong for Olive Town that the producer (Dai Takemura) was run off his social media platforms and formally apologized for the poor launch. Rune Factory 5 also suffered during the Japanese launch, garnering criticisms from Japanese and North American fans alike amid celebrations of the series' return. This left fans in each space wondering what their favorite series would look like after such rocky starts on the new Nintendo Switch hardware.

The Future, Sprouting

Despite the struggles and setbacks, and nothing to really "make it rain", the flagship series are continuing to grow with 2 new additions to Story of Seasons - a cross-play online multiplayer title, and the next mainline game (purportedly the 30th anniversary entry) - and 2 new Rune Factory games - with entry 6 in development, and Guardians of Azuma releasing in May 2025.

These games are really going to have to do something outstanding to make up for the broken trust of their fans. But with a company struggling with its financials, there's always going to be a tug of war between satisfying fans and generating revenue.

This is where speculative analysis on my part comes in.

Flexible and Mobile

Current market trends point towards more open-world, cel-shaded style games for mobile (ala Hoyoverse games, Wuthering Waves notably). And the Nintendo Switch is, after all, a glorified touchscreen tablet. It's not lost on fans that there's something going on in the background regarding the games' development, and how eerily alike they are in visuals into some of the bigger, heavy hitting and grossing mobile titles out there.

The style on its own is simplistic, colorful, and warm. It's also very fast to develop and refine - no overly complicated textures or super granular details. The art direction also makes it lighter than other games which have many materials or polygons. It just works.

However, that can point to speculation around development; whether the studio is trying to streamline into shorter times...or is headed in a mobile direction. Let's take a look at some recently released screenshots from Guardians of Azuma.

There are elements of UI design displayed here that would feel right at home on a device held in one's hands, and not just with controllers in palms! Make no mistake, mobile is not an insult here. In fact, mobile may be just the direction these series need in order to sustain themselves in the current market era. Mobile gaming currently accounts for (roughly) 110 billion USD annually, across the globe! Even indies like Stardew Valley can see sizeable mobile market gains from concurrent releases on app stores.

It also wouldn't be the first time either series appeared on mobile. A company with as long a history and staying power as Marvelous would surely see no small number of players and a steady revenue for Story of Seasons and Rune Factory by tapping back into that market. Perhaps we're due to see things sprout on that platform soon?

“You dont ever really notice the small things until they're gone. The way the summer sun warms your skin, or the smell of oncoming rain. How warm your mothers hugs were, the excitement of trying to catch Santa. The sound of waves crashing against the shore, or the pure, unfiltered joy you had when you could play on the playground after school.

But then you get older. The small things get smaller. And then they’re gone. Leaving you with the bittersweet feeling of nostalgia. Longing for a life you once lived, but couldn’t get back. Gone were the days of Santa catching, or playing on the playground, traded in for long days of boredom. Sitting at a desk, staring blankly at the task at hand. No more warm hugs. You’re now an adult. Too old for warm hugs. Too old for the playground. Too old for Santa. Too tired to appreciate the sounds of the beach. Never outside long enough to really appreciate the sun, or the rain. The small things got too small. And then they disappeared completely.”

Lando Norris had made it a habit recently to appreciate the small things. The smile you gave him when you opened the door. The hair that would fall around your shoulders, the reading glasses that would slide down your nose. The sound of your laugh, the warmth of you. That was the worst part of the little things. You only ever notice them after they're gone. You glasses, once sat on random tables in the house, had now disappeared. All his shirts were back on his side of the closet, instead of yours, even though you swore you didn’t know how they got there. His Twitch streams, far and few between, went uninterrupted.

All of your little things, which he swore used to annoy him. Now left a hole in his heart. Maybe he said he hated when you would cling onto him when he got home. You couldn’t go to all the races. Maybe he said he just wanted to shower after the flight without you holding onto him. But as he pushed the door open, just getting home from the Hungarian GP, feeling utterly disappointed, angry with himself and with the team, he found himself more annoyed with the fact you weren’t jumping at him like a flying squirrel.

He opens his phone, only to see a text from Max F, a photo, from your Instagram.

She’s still got it going

You had decided, when you two had gotten together back in 2019, to get all his F1 achievements inked into your right forearm. Starting in February 2017, when it was announced that he was a junior driver for McLaren. And then the dates of the Belgian Grand Prix, where he took part in his first official practice session. Next was the dates of the Australian Grand Prix in 2019, his first race of his rookie season. Then the 5th of July 2020, his first podium. 25th of September 2021, his first pole. And that was as far as you had gotten before you broke up. But now. Looking at the picture Max had sent, you’d added one more.

He remembered his first podium. Remembered you racing down the paddock towards him, jumping, wrapping all your limbs tightly around him. You were laughing, telling him how proud of him you were.

But you hadn’t done the same when he’d won Miami. You weren’t even there.

The little things.

You listened, he talked. No matter what. You celebrated every single point he scored. Hell, you celebrated every race he took part in, regardless of his end result. “Because, you’re Lando Norris, damn it. One of the twenty people who get to be on that grid. People would kill for that chance. And maybe you didn’t do so great today. But you’ve done good enough to get the chance to race. And I’ll celebrate that every day of the week.”

The shoes you’d kick off the second you got home from work, unbuttoning the top two buttons of your blouse, and letting your hair loose from its ponytail. The loud grumbles about incompetent coworkers. The paused rant when he would come in and greet you, pausing long enough to say hi and kiss him, before launching straight back into it. The way you’d pout when he wrapped his arms around you, running his fingers through your hair, just so you’d start to calm down.

The little things got too little. And then they were gone.

But that hadn’t happened in weeks. Not since before Christmas, before you went on holidays. Before everything went completely and utterly wrong in a matter of minutes.

He’d won Zandvoort and he’d won Singapore. But you hadn’t been there. You were here now. Abu Dahbi. Laughing with your brother in the Mercedes garage. The brother who was one of Lando’s best friends. Well, before. Now, George would rarely talk to him, unless he had to.

You were wearing your favourite dress. His favourite, purely because you would spin around and giggle excitedly whenever you wore it. Your hair had been done in one of the styles he liked. And your smile. God, your smile. It wasn’t as bright. Didn’t quite reach your eyes, cheeks didn’t scrunch up like they normally would. You were sad. His heart stuttered when your eyes met his. And then Oscar was shuffling him along.

Unlike Lando, you had always tried to appreciate the small things. The fleeting moments of kindness your brother, George would show before going back to being a typical older brother. How pretty your sister, Clara, looked in different dresses. Even Benjy’s, albeit annoying, habit of eating all the school snacks over the weekend. You were a half-glass full, and that was that.

This year, for example. George had won two races, although one didn’t count due to a weight issue. But your big brother had been a 3x Grand Prix winner, even if only for a little while. And Lando, despite the fact you two had broken up over winter break, had gotten his first career win. And then won two more. You wanted to hate him. Honestly. But you couldn’t. Because despite the argument that had led to your break up had been bad, and you had both said horrible things to one another. But he was Lando.

He was still your first real boyfriend. The first one who had bought you flowers. The guy who you had basically grown up with. The guy who would sit on the couch and rewatch movies and TV shows he hated, but sat through them because you loved them, and he loved seeing you smile. The guy who’d put his hand on your stomach as a heating pack, and pull you close, when cramps were bad. The guy who, on one unfortunate occasion, where you had been surprised by the terrible cramps, had forced you into the shower while he changed the sheets, and then put new clothes into the bathroom for you. The guy who ate 17 spring rolls on stream with Max once, because he had given you three. He was the person who randomly kissed you when you were 19, and quickly became the most important figure in your life.

Yes, he had hurt you. But you had hurt him too. And in all honesty, it was hard to appreciate all the little things, when your human embodiment of sunshine was gone. No more warmth, no more happiness, no more real laughter. No more little things to appreciate.

George’s arm was heavy around your shoulders, your laughter strained and forced as you talked to Toto. You saw the papaya before you saw him. He looked like a kicked puppy. No more goofy grins. But he had looked better since Max won the championship. Your sun’s light was dimming, and you could only watch. And for a second, your eyes locked, you saw how small his ray’s had gotten, and then George was nudging you. He was gone.

You didn’t see him again until after the race. After he had won, a fourth Grand Prix for himself, and McLaren’s first Championship since 1998. You’d bumped into him. His hands grabbed your shoulders so you wouldn’t fall.

“Congratulations,” came tumbling out of your mouth.

To you, it sounded like word vomit. To him it sounded like the most angelic sound. He nods, voice trembling, “Thank you,” you stand awkwardly for a moment, and then turn to leave, before he calls out again, “Wait!”

You turn slowly, “Yes?”

He rubs the back of his neck, “We’re, uh, celebrating. Tonight. For the-,” he cuts himself off, “If you want. Of course.”

“Oh.”

“I can text you the details, if you-”

“I’d like that.”

“Okay.”

You’d been there for 20 minutes, drink in hand. Lando was off, chatting to people with gusto. He’d obviously drunk a few drinks, and by the time he got to you, the music was louder, the room getting more packed. You hated parties, hated crowded spaces. He wordlessly appeared beside you, and tugged you outside. The stars were bright, both of you looking up at them. His voice was soft, barely audible, “The sky’s pretty.”

You turn your head slightly. You had always been the one to say things like that. Appreciating small things was your thing. But now he was doing it. And you weren’t. “It is, isn’t it?”

He turns his head, eyes slightly glassed over, “That dress is your favourite. You like twirling in it, it makes you giggle.”

You nod, “It is.”

“I started noticing those things after you left. The dresses, hair, even your stupid glasses you were always losing. I even missed your after work rants, and all my shirts being on your side of the closet, even if you swore you didn’t put them there. And you’re clinging, when I came home from races you couldn’t go to. I know I said I found them annoying, but they’re not. They’re your little things that make you, you. And I love you.”

It was the alcohol. It had to be. You two had broken up months ago. There was no way, in no world, that Lando still loved you. You felt your breathing hitch. Your heart speeds up. And he noticed. You turned to fully look at him. His eyebrow was pinched, jaw set. Lando was a man on a mission.

“I got my first win, and you weren’t running down the paddock to jump at me like a flying squirrel. You weren’t there to tell me that I’m amazing after Hungary. Or when everybody started harassing me online. And it was hard. So I started looking at the little things. ‘Cos you always did, and I thought that somehow, someday, maybe, we could look at them together.”

He stares, hands shoved into his pockets. He was nervous. You manage to push on, “And you spend the rest of your life willing for them to come back. And, y’know, sometimes they do. But they’re not the same-”

He shakes his head, “But they’re there,” he motions at your tattoo, “You still cared enough to get Miami inked. That’s another one. You care. No matter how bad you get hurt. And I used to hate it, ‘cos you always ended up more hurt, and I had to pick up the pieces. I hated seeing you cry. I hated seeing you upset. And this time it’s my fault. But please. Let me pick up the pieces again. And I promise, I’ll pay more attention. I won’t let the little things get too little again.”

You stop and stare. His hands had moved out of his pockets, fingers twitching like he wanted to grab onto you. He’d always done that. Held onto you to calm down. So you held your hand out. The corner’s of his mouth were downturned, chin trembling slightly. He was gonna cry. So there you were. Hand held out, waiting for him to take it.

Han/Leia Appreciation Week 2024

WE'RE BACK, BABY! "Wait, what's happening, wasn't this in August??" you might wonder. Based on your feedback, we decided to host this and (probably) future editions of Han/Leia Appreciation Week earlier in the year. July seemed like the better choice, given that it's a vacation period in both hemispheres!

This year we're also giving you the prompts over a month in advance, so you have plenty of time to plan and create!

Han/Leia Appreciation Week was an event originally hosted at @han-leia-solo between 2016-2019, but for the past three years, we've taken up the mantle here at @hanleiacelebration 😊

💖 How does Han/Leia Appreciation Week work?

The event will run from July 14th to July 20th, and there will be two different prompts each day that creators can fulfill with: fanfic, fanart, gifsets, graphics, fanvids, headcanons, crafts, playlists, rec lists. You’re encouraged to tag your posts with #hanleiaweek2024 so we can reblog them! After the week is over, we’ll share a masterlist with links to the works.

You can show your appreciation in many ways; however, please keep in mind that it has to be a creation of yours of some sort, e.g. don’t repost other people’s fanart, gifs, or unedited pictures. Rec lists should include a link to the original source both for fanfic and fanart (more on this after the cut).

It has to be something that has never been posted anywhere else before, so finishing and sharing a WIP is okay! If it doesn’t fit any of the prompts, you can share it on Free Day.

Yes! Just remember to use a “Read more” cut if you’re posting the whole work on Tumblr, and to add a note at the top if your work is rated Mature or Explicit, as well as if it has any major trigger warnings, so all folks can safely browse through the entries.

💕 Are there any length or quality requirements?

There’s no min. or max. length for fanfic or quality level for art, but please note that AI-generated works won’t be accepted. For gifsets, there’s a minimum of two gifs (that must be made by you!). For playlists, there’s a minimum of five songs. For rec lists of fic or fanart, there’s also a minimum of five recs. Some more questions you might have about rec lists:

- How do I share someone else’s art without posting a picture? You might post a thumbnail that crops a preview of the piece; if the piece has a title, you might use that; you might describe it; or you might say something like “this piece by [artist]”, and link to the source.

- What if I found a fanart on Google? Try to find the original source using reverse search image.

The National Guard has been out of their state militia status and operating as Active-Duty Status every day since they were Federalized in March 2020.

There’s MORE than enough documentation and ‘proof’ to show not only the National Guard, but also thousands of World Alliance Aircrafts in and out of the United States and National Guard bases.

There’s United States Coast Guards with United States Navy at their stations. USCG is Department of Homeland Security during Peacetime and transferred to the Department of the Navy during Wartime.

The Brunson vs. Adams case simply states the obvious… Congress violated the Constitution.

I will add; everyone thinks they know what's going on but very few have done any research on Trump's executive orders. Everyone has discarded Q because they have seen dates come and go without seeing any results. Fact is they weren't dates but rather chapters and paragraphs from the law of war manual.

We're going by the Book. Why? Because it has to be done by the rule of law, if not, it's just more crimes being committed.

“The makers of puberty blocking drugs such as Lupron and Supprelin warn that possible side effects include emotional instability, mood changes, aggression, nervousness, anxiety, agitation, confusion, delusions, insomnia, and depression, adding that you should "monitor for development or worsening of psychiatric symptoms during treatment."(12) Depression is considered a common side effect of puberty blockers, and according to drug manufacturers, "may be severe."(13)

Girls who take GnRHa experience a significant increase in behavioral and emotional problems and are more likely to self-harm.(14)

According to the largest gender clinic in the UK, after a year of being on puberty blockers, there was a significant increase in young women who agreed with the statement "I deliberately try to hurt or kill myself."(15) It should be noted, however, that there was no control group in this study, and so one cannot infer causation. What's clear, though, is that the drug was hardly curing the psychological distress of the children who took it. Rather, they expressed greater dissatisfaction with their bodies after being on the drug.(16) In the words of a team of researchers who promote the treatment, "It is therefore unlikely that GnRHa treatment will result in significant reduction in body dissatisfaction.’(17)

Understanding the role of hormones in brain functioning helps to explain why the drugs could have a negative emotional impact.

Puberty blocking drugs shut down the production of estrogen and progesterone. However, researchers believe that estrogen can have a protective effect against mental illnesses such as depression, acting as "nature's psychoprotectant."(18) Dr. Karen Berman, a senior investigator for the National Institutes of Mental Health, studied the effect of Lupron on the female brain. After injecting women with the drug, she scanned their brains with a PET scan and found that the activity in the frontal lobes of their brains had slowed to a near stop.(19) This leads to dulled or inappropriate emotions, lack of motivation, impulsiveness, and altered mental states such as delirium, disorientation, and confusion.(20) Studies also showed that puberty blockers cause memory problems and stunt brain development, which is the last thing a young person needs when making life-changing decisions about his or her future.(21) Therefore, those who argue that the outcomes of puberty blockers are uncertain are guilty of what some psychologists call "HARKing:" hypothesizing after the results are known.”

ᯓᡣ𐭩 EARLY LIFE & SCHOOLING !

april 11th, 2002: ophelia is born on a bright and sunny Thursday afternoon in Vernon, British Columbia.

may 9th, 2006: ophelia (4) takes her first ballet class

2008 - 2013: early childhood / elementary school

august 2010: ophelia (8) joined the soccer team and met her now best friend Amber Jameson; they have been inseparable since.

october 2013: ophelia (11) got an ankle injury during a soccer game and sadly had to quit the sport. Her love for ballet was stronger and she didn't want to risk not being able to dance again.

She had to stop dancing for the rest of the year so her ankle could heal, it was miserable for her.

2013 - 2016: start of her teenage years / middle school

march 2015: ophelia (12) joined the theater club and helped make the costumes for their play, in turn finding her love for fashion designing.

april 2016: ophelia (13) went to get her photos taken for her ballet portfolio and was approached by a teen modeling agency.

summer 2016: ophelia (14) went to south korea for a ballet summer intensive program.

She was housed by a sweet family, where she met one of her bestest friends seunghan and his younger brother park sunghoon who is her age. Seunghan is a fellow ballet dancer and went to the training camp with her.

Ophelia became very close with the family, only becoming closer with them as the years go by, she's an honorary park! Seunghan’s parents think of her as their own child and his little sister thinks of her as her big sis!

2016 - 2020: teen years / high school / start of her modeling career

december 2016: Ophelia (14) was on the cover of pointe magazine.

june 2017: ophelia (15) won first place in the Helsinki international ballet competition, in juniors for women.

august 2017: ophelia finished her first wedding dress that she made for her cousin's wedding.

may 2018: ophelia (16) won first place in the american ballet competition

july 2018: ophelia won first place in the varna international ballet competition

was invited to be on jimmy fallon after her win.

february 2019: ophelia (17) made her debut by walking the catwalk and attending the New York fashion week.

may 29th - june 2, 2019: ophelia walked and attended the miami fashion week

september 2019: ophelia walked and attended the paris fashion week

october 9th 2019: the creation of ophelia's youtube channel

Ophelia created her youtube channel so she could have another way to communicate and become closer with her fans.

She mainly posted vlogs of her days as a model and a ballet dancer, and her just traveling and doing random activities with her friends.

december 2019: ophelia walked and attended the NYFW: December pre-fall and fall-winter, fashion week.

february 2020: ophelia walked and attended london's fashion week, fall-winter.

Ophelia meets Ryan James, a fellow model, they exchanged numbers and Ophelia then got in a relationship with him in may.

Throughout the rest of the year ophelia really focused on her ballet career, putting modeling to the side, and focusing on her studies.

for the rest of the year, Ophelia modeled for many different brands, but she really just focused on her ballet career and getting more known in the fashion design world.

2022 : breakup era

april 11th 2022: Ophelia (20) broke up with Ryan after finding out he has been cheating on her for many months.

april, may, june, july 2022: ophelia took a break from anything that evolved with modeling during those months, trying to heal from her breakup. Throwing herself into training, practices, and her studies.

august 2022: ophelia modeled for celine as her comeback into modeling

was invited back on the jimmy fallon show where they talked about what she's been up to, the celine shoot, and her comeback to modeling

october 6-9th 2022: ophelia walked and attended los angeles fashion week

november 2022: ophelia was interviewed by WIRED where she talked about ballet and modeling and her love for fashion design

2023: meeting jack

march 3rd 2023: curtis gets traded to the new jersey devils

march 28th 2023: ophelia and Jack meet for the first time at a club and share a kiss.

april 18th 2023: ophelia joins curtis out at a bar to meet some of his teammates, and she sees jack for the first time since the club.

they keep what happened at the bar to themselves (besides Jack freaking out about it to Luke), and pretend to just meet each other for the first time.

april 25th 2023: ophelia and jack run into each other at a bar, things escalate and jack ends up bringing her back to his place where they hook up for the first time.

the next morning they talk about what happened, and how they need to keep what happened between them a secret. They want to keep seeing each other, so they decide to become friends with benefits.

july 2023: ophelia models for calvin klein

july 17th 2023: jack confesses his feelings to ophelia after 3 months of being friends with benefits.

Ophelia didn't take it well and left his apartment in haste (girly was afraid of her feelings and commitment) and they didn't talk for two weeks.

july 31st 2023: ophelia goes to jack’s apartment where she apologizes and asks him on a date.

august 1st 2023: jack and ophelia have there first date and officially start dating (secretly)

november 6th 2023: curtis holds a dinner at his home for his teammates, curtis finds jack and ophelia kissing in the garage and did not take it well.

curtis gives her an ultimatum ‘him or me’ in a moment of anger and that leads to ophelia not talking to either of them for a week, locking herself in her apartment.

november 14th 2023: curtis comes to see her early in the day to apologize for his reaction and what he said, later in the day jack comes to see her and they have a sweet moment, happy that everything is now okay between them.

january 12th 2024: ophelia and jack said i love you for the first time

january 24-28 2024: ophelia walked and attended miami fashion week

february 9-14th 2024: ophelia attended new york fashion week fall-winter

february 16th 2024: ophelia and jack's relationship is exposed to the media when videos and pictures of them at the njd’s family skate go viral.

february 26th - march 5th 2024: ophelia walked and attended paris fashion week

may 2024: ophelia did the 73 questions with vogue

june 2024: ophelia did the “10 things I can't live without’ with GQ

may 6th 2024: ophelia (22) attended the met gala for the first time

ophelia did a get ready with me / last looks with vogue for the met

june 2024: ophelia did diary of a model with vogue

july 2024: ophelia and jack do a couple quiz with GQ
