Cornelis van Haarlem (1562-1638) "The Fall of the Titans" (1588-1590) Oil on canvas Northern Mannerism Located in the Statens Museum, Copenhagen, Denmark
The painting is a depiction of the Titanomachy, a ten-year war between the Titans and the Olympian. In Greek mythology, the Titans were members of the second generation of divine beings, descending from the primordial deities and preceding the Olympians. Based on Mount Othrys, the Titans most famously included the first twelve children of Gaia (Mother Earth) and Uranus (Father Sky). They ruled during the legendary Golden Age, and also comprised the first pantheon of Greek deities.
Just as the Titan Cronus overthrew his father Uranus, the Titans were overthrown by Cronus' children (Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Hestia, Hera and Demeter), the core Olympian deities, at the end of which they were imprisoned in Tartarus, a Greek version of Hell. Their arrival there is depicted in the painting.

Fooduary Day 29: Trifle
The Trifle had its first recipe in a 1585 English cookbook so of course I had to go all out on this final day of the challenge. It’s been a really fun time, I’m so happy I did this challenge month… but I also need so many naps now. (TT v TT). I hope you’ve enjoyed these as much as I have!
I am the artist! Do not post without permission & credit! Thank you! Come visit me over on: instagram, tiktok or check out my coloring book available now \ („• ֊ •„) /

my first reconstruction garment, 1580-1600 mens shirt, linen and entirely handstitched. taken from patterns of fashion 4. i made it a year at least ago but never got around to taking proper photos. i would love to finish a late 1500s mens ensemble to go with it at some point.
