So someone who knows about this sort of thing, I could use some guidance. I bought some keto bread the other day, and noticed that it used allulose, which I've read suppresses the body's glycemic response. I also use a food tracker for calories and carbs (I don't actually do keto, but I stay under 100g). So since I've been eating this bread this week, I've noticed that my net carbs are way lower than they should be. Like, I'll have four slices of this bread and my net carbs will be 35 grams lower than my total (today my total is 82.7, it says my net is 47.7, but when I add everything it would be 80).
So, that being said, it's Lewis, and trying to research this on my own didn't turn anything up about that but I did find out some pretty horrifying things about Lewis, so now I'm thinking maybe I'll just figure out how to make my own damn bread using allulose (I also don't want to spend $5 on a loaf).
But at the same time...is that even how this whole thing works? Can I trust those numbers? I'd be stoked to be able to eat the same thing my family eats at dinner, but it feels like a risky play.

I don’t know much about bulking or cutting but is there a reason why the food is so plain to the point where theres not even salt or pepper 😭 like I see people make “yummy bulking meal prep” videos where the food looks like actual food and I just wonder why people still go the plain route when stuff like that exists
Yeah, generally when you’re doing a bulk or cut and you’re being strict, you’re breaking every mouthful of food into its macros. For cuts, everything counts against total calories, so the food is bland because you only have so many calories you can eat, but you still need to take in massive amounts of protein. I’m in a cut rn doing 1300 calories with 140g of protein and let me tell you….I’m not quite eating like a bodybuilder, but it’s close. I’m putting hot sauce and MSG on everything. I’m not cooking with butter or heavy sauces. There just isn’t room.
For bulks, it’s a little different. You’re putting on muscle by 1) eating a ton of protein and calories and 2) working out like crazy (strength training, mostly). The more lean protein you eat, the easier it is to put on muscle.
Usually that’s what people mean when they say a clean or lean bulk — stuff like straight chicken breast, eggs, dairy, other meat products. This also helps protect against unwanted fat gain. Moderate increase in overall caloric intake, high protein, basic protein options.
A dirty bulk, in contrast, is just eating as many calories of whatever macros you want to gain as much weight as possible while working out (generally in advance of doing a cutting cycle after). The “mass moves mass” line is overused and without nuance, but in that respect it’s true — an underweight lifter moves less mass than a version of themselves with 10-20 more pounds, even if only some of that is actually muscle.
So yeah — sometimes people can bulk with tasty meals. Other times they eat plain chicken breasts or smoothies. My recommendation is to get a good spice drawer to offset the sad diet of lean bulks or cuts. I might make your basic chicken and rice, but it’s gonna be spicy and flavorful (without adding a ton of sodium or butter etc).
And again — this is not a super healthy way to eat long term. That’s why there are cutting and bulking cycles. It’s usually temporary. Hence why it’s more tolerable.

Yuanxiao
The following is a recipe as presented in Tasting History by Max Miller. If you enjoy it, I would highly encourage checking out the Tasting History youtube channel or buy the Tasting History cookbook.
From History The cooking method uses glutinous rice that has been ground into a fine powder. Inside the wrapper the filling comprises the flesh of walnuts and white sugar. Water is sprinkled on the filling and the balls are rolled around in flour to form them. They are as big as walnuts. This is the same as what the people of the Jiangnan region call tagyuan -Liu Ruoyu, Zhuo zhong zhi (translated by Roy Chan)
"Yuanxiao is a ball of glutinous rice stuffed with a sweet walnut filling, but it's the source of this seventeenth-century recipe, the Zhuo zhong zhi by Liu Ruoyu, that has a story worth telling.
The Ming Court, under the teenage Tianqi Emperor, was run by a powerful and scheming eunuch named Wei Zhongxian. Powerful and scheming eunuchs were actually quite the trend in Imperial China, but none were as formidable as Wei. He, along with the emperor's nurse, Madame Ke, removed all others who held power over the emperor. Some were banished, some starved to death, and others were forced to commit suicide. The pair kept the young emperor ignorant of the goings-on in his empire while they ran the government.
During Wei's reign of terror, a young eunuch named Liu distinguished himself as an excellent calligrapher, an uncommon skill among the eunuchs of the Forbidden City. His work caught the jealous eye of the illiterate Wei Zhongxian, who, unfriendly to any he believed smart enough to challenge his power, demoted the young scribe to work in the stables. Liu toiled there for several years and added the moniker Ruoyu, which meant "the dumb," to his name to remind himself that feigning stupidity might serve him better in the Wei regime.
But the powerful eunuch eventually found a use for Liu Ruoyu's talent: forgery. Wei had procured a number of blank documents already stamped with the emperor's seal. All he required to govern with impunity was for someone to fill the documents with whatever decrees he wished. Liu was just the man for the job.
The scheme did not last long though, for when the Tianqi Emperor died at the age of twenty-one his younger brother, Zhu Youjian, came to power as the Chongzhen Emperor. Though only sixteen, Zhu had not yet fallen under Wei Zhongxian's influence, and the new emperor banished the troublesome eunuch, executed Madame Ke, and imprisoned any who had helped Wei, including Liu Ruoyu. While in prison, Liu wrote the Zhuo zhong zhi, part protestation of his innocence and part treatise on daily life in the Forbidden City. His writings included a number of recipes, such as this one for Yuanxiao."
Modern Recipe
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups (140g) whole shelled, raw, unsalted walnuts
1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
4 tablespoons (57g) unsalted butter, melted
2 cups (225 g) glutinous rice flour (sweet rice flour)
Makes 16 Yuanxiao
Cook time: 2 hours 15 minutes
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the walnuts to the pan in a single layer. Heat them, stirring frequently, until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Once the walnuts are toasted, remove them from the pan and set aside on a plate to cool, about 10 minutes. Once they are cool, crush the walnuts by hand or in a food processor, until they become almost a coarse flour.
Mix the crushed walnuts, sugar, and butter in a bowl until combined. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Remove the mixture from the refrigerator and divide it into 16 portions. Using clean hands, roll each portion into a ball and set aside.
Fill a large bowl three-quarters full with cold water. In another large bowl, add the glutinous rice flour. Working in batches of 3 or 4 balls at a time, roll the balls in the flour until covered. Put the balls in a fine-mesh strainer. Dip the strainer with the balls briefly in the water, then return to the flour and roll again, coating completely. Repeat this process 7 to 10 times, or until there is no visible filling. Repeat the process until all the balls are coated. note that cracks may appear in the coating, but as long as the filling is not visible, that is okay.
Fill a large pot half full of water and set it over high heat. Bring the water to a boil. Working in batches, boil 3 or 4 balls until they float to the top, 2 to 3 minutes. Note that the balls will expand, so leave plenty of room in the pot. Once the balls have floated to the top, add a cup of cold water. The balls should sink a bit. Adding cold water will stop the boiling and allow a skin to form on the balls. Allow the water to return to a boil and wait until the balls float again. Remove the balls and set aside. Bring the water back to a boil and repeat the steps with the remaining balls until finished. Serve warm.

i took 0 cool pictures so these again i guess ! but swapped so the thumbnail is different idfk
i woke up feeling alright at like 12 pm… got up and cleaned my room entirely.. clean desk, clean vanity thing, put clothes in laundry, put clean clothes away, clean bed, arrange cute decorations in my room… good cleaning !
then i went on my walking pad for maybe 30 mins
then mom got home and i don’t know we talked for a bit and i got ready to go outside. i put on sweatpants and my jacket and called it a day. which is likely what all of my outfits will be cause i wont have the energy for more eheh…
i first went to the big shopping centre where i bought protein bars and diet coca colaaa and 1 cucumber. when i went out of the store i got harassed by a salesman for like 5 mins before i ran away cause i got scared lollllll
then i went to the drugstore and .. took ;; some makeup. one eyeliner 3 concealers 2 mascaras and 1 eyeshadow compact <3
then i went to a different store to get coconut coca cola
then i walked homeeee zoned out and tired but oh well. walked to my friends house to pick up some money she owed me but girlie wasn’t home so i just went to my house. when i got home i was a bit cranky but its fine guys… i grabbed some cucumbers and mac and cheese my mom made and went upstairs
i didn’t eat the mac and cheese, because i don’t want to eat more food than i need and get super fat and obese

then i went downstairs to get my hair dyed… its kinda blue now.. so cool ! my favourite shade… lowkey considering just dyeing my hair every month cause i always let it get grimy and brown… when dying my hair my mom said it looked awefully thin.. aha…
then i washed it all nice and intense and i got myself ready for bed. i drew till 10 pm exactly then took 5 sleeping pills, took a while for them to kick in, i was rendering water by hand. then around midnight i was out cold. a nice day !!!!

140 days of productivity: day 6/140
It was such a busy and tiring day. I slept very badly, had only a cup of milk for breakfast and worked without taking breaks. Even so, I was unable to finish all my tasks due to technical errors on my website and on my scented candles’ online catalog. My mood was terrible and it got worse as technology decided to work against me. I had severe cramps throughout the day and I felt like my brain refused to function every time I had to think or solve anything. I couldn’t go to my yoga class so I decided to spend the night at home testing my 140g candles and doing a light study session.

Fudgy Brownie Cookies with Crackly Tops 🍪✨
Ingredients:
140g semisweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped 🍫
113g unsalted butter 🧈
1 large egg, room temperature 🥚
1 large egg yolk, room temperature
150g granulated sugar
55g packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
60g all-purpose flour
25g unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional: Flaky sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions:
Melt chocolate and butter: In a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water (or in the microwave), melt the chocolate and butter together, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Whisk eggs and sugars: In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, egg yolk, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Combine wet ingredients: Pour the cooled chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and whisk until combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Fold in dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
Chill the dough: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight. Chilling the dough is essential for creating the crackly tops.
Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 175°C (160°C Fan). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Shape and bake cookies: Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 5cm apart. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt, if using.
Bake: Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are crackly. The centers will still be soft.
Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips:
Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavour.
Don't overbake the cookies; they should be slightly underdone in the center so they remain fudgy.
If you don't have flaky sea salt, you can use regular sea salt or kosher salt.
These cookies are best enjoyed the day they are baked, but they can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
