i implore everyone to read Kim Kitsuragi’s Book Report by TwiExMachina on ao3 it is one of the FUNNIEST FICS i’ve ever read it left me REELING from how hard i was laughing. it’s amazingly well characterized like i could 100% see it fitting into actual Disco Elysium gameplay i just cannot stress this enough. it was so good so..
i recommend it :>
it’s based on another fic about Harry writing a self-insert Dick Mullen erotica featuring everyone’s favorite lieutenant. essentially, Kim finds it and confronts Harry
#disco elysium#archive of our own#disco elysium fanfiction#harry du bois#kim kitsuragi#harrykim#kimharry#half light you and i are one in the same#it’s actually so funny it’s insane#it was refreshing how well they were characterized too#they include the skills btw#and writing for the skills is lowkey hard so 😭#very very impressive#very very well written#11/10 i reread it every so often#fic recs

Hiii!!! Swanon back again 🦢
Could you do Toby x Oblivious Childhood Friend!Reader?
I wanna see this man sweat 😨
- 🦢
SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG TO ANSWER THIS 😭😭😭
Toby x Oblivious!Childhood Friend!Reader
1. Nervous Reunions:
- When you and Toby reunite after years apart, he's a bundle of nerves. His heart pounds, and he finds it hard to keep eye contact without feeling like he'll melt.
- He tries to act nonchalant but ends up fumbling his words and stuttering more than usual, making you smile at his perceived clumsiness.
2. Sweaty Palms:
- Every time you're close, Toby’s palms sweat profusely. He constantly wipes them on his jeans, praying you don’t notice how anxious he is.
- He dreams of holding your hand but can’t muster the courage, worrying that his sweaty palms would gross you out.
3. Awkward Compliments:
- Toby attempts to compliment you, but it usually comes out awkward and half-formed. “Uh, your, um, hair... it looks nice today,” he mumbles, turning red.
- You laugh it off, thinking it’s just Toby being Toby, completely missing the sincerity behind his words.
4. Jealous Outbursts:
- When others show interest in you, Toby can’t hide his jealousy. He becomes quiet and brooding, his tics worsening as he tries to suppress his frustration.
- You notice his mood swings but assume he's just having a rough day, never connecting it to his feelings for you.
5. Protective Instincts:
- Toby is incredibly protective, always making sure you're safe. He walks you home, stays by your side at crowded events, and watches over you with a concerned eye.
- You appreciate his vigilance, thinking it's just his caring nature as a friend, not realizing it stems from deeper affection.
6. Dorky Gestures:
- Toby leaves small gifts for you, like your favorite snacks or hand-drawn sketches. He never admits they're from him, watching your reaction from a distance.
- You find the mysterious gifts sweet, suspecting but never confirming that Toby is behind them.
7. Heartfelt Confessions:
- When Toby finally tries to confess his feelings, he becomes a nervous wreck. His tics intensify, and he struggles to find the right words, often trailing off or changing the subject last minute.
- You think he’s just being shy, never realizing the depth of what he’s trying to say.
8. Lingering Looks:
- Toby often finds himself staring at you when you’re not looking, his gaze soft and longing. He memorizes your features, from the curve of your smile to the way your eyes light up.
- You catch him staring occasionally, but he quickly looks away, and you dismiss it as him being lost in thought.
9. Subtle Touches:
- Toby craves physical contact but is too scared to initiate. When he does, it’s always subtle—a brush of your hand, a pat on your back, a quick hug.
- You enjoy these moments, finding comfort in his presence, but never suspecting the underlying feelings driving his actions.
10. Hidden Notes:
- Toby writes you heartfelt notes expressing his feelings but never has the courage to give them to you. Instead, he hides them in his room, rereading them whenever he feels down.
- You have no idea these notes exist, continuing to be blissfully unaware of Toby’s internal turmoil.
11. Shared Memories:
- Toby often reminisces about your shared childhood memories, hoping to find the right moment to express his feelings. He brings up old stories, trying to gauge your reaction.
- You love talking about the past, enjoying the nostalgia, but you never realize he’s using these moments to build up the courage to tell you how he feels.
12. Silent Support:
- Toby is always there to support you, whether you need a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. His unwavering presence is a constant in your life, though you take it for granted.
- You think of him as your rock, not realizing that his steadfast support is driven by a love he’s too scared to confess.
Seeing Toby struggle with his feelings while you remain oblivious adds a layer of tension and sweetness to your interactions, making every shared moment between you two a blend of nervous excitement and unspoken affection.
Hope this was good enough!!

fic writer meme
thank you [checks notes] @megafaunatic, @cairoscene, @englishsub, @yuebings, and @cafecliche for the tags ilu
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 15! which is solidly 14 more than i ever expected to have on there when i made the account
2. What's your total Ao3 word count? 277,844
3. What fandoms do you write for? on ao3: mdzs/cql, tgcf, shl, and dc. in groupchats/dms/my own head i’m running wild all over the place
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 🐉 this river runs to you 💍 i’ll have you and you’ll have me 🪐 i will be chasing a starlight ⚔️ you’re the trouble that i always find 🌊 a wave crashes to shore
5. Do you respond to comments? not often; i have made multiple attempts to start replying regularly but all have eventually failed in the face of me desperately wanting to show my earnest and genuine appreciation for each comment vs. wanting to hide my blushing face under a pillow every time. also, because of who i am as a person, each time i sat down to do it i ended up spending hours making little progress and eventually decided that i will make an effort to spend those hours writing or commenting on other fics instead. i am honored by each and every one though!!!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? while i tend to write angst it is always firmly of the “with a happy ending” sort. the one exception is my shortest fic (originally posted on twitter) never been away so long, which is more of an ambiguous/open ending with implied angst. i dooooo outline the eventual happy ending in the endnotes, though. also as it CURRENTLY stands buy back the secrets ends on one hell of an angsty note, but there are two more chapters in the works to fix that.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? despite the wangxian star trek au having like 20k of deliriously happy post-misunderstanding sex, i think trrty has to have the happiest ending because not only does the fic end happily, but there are also multiple very happy codas in which wwx gets a good night’s sleep, finally gets to bang his dragon boyfriend, and, my personal fav, one by aubreyli where wangxian go flying in a thunderstorm.
8. Do you get hate on fics? not so far, for which i am grateful but mostly lucky.
9. Do you write smut? occasionally; on ao3 there’s the aforementioned trrty coda, plus the aforementioned cowritten wangxian pon farr sequence 💪
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you have written? hmm, i’m not opposed to crossovers—i’ve read some really fun ones (recent fav crossover read here)—but i’d have to be really compelled by both source materials and have a very clear vision for how they interact to want to write one myself. i’ve written a few fandom fusions (aforementioned wangxian star trek au; i also started a wangxian dragon age au but again, no dragon age characters were going to show up, just the world/setting) but no full-on crossovers. i did have one partially drafted wangxian fic that was going to have a hua cheng deus ex machina, alas.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? not that i’m aware of! it’s not something i really go looking for/concern myself with, but so far, like with fandom hate, i’m grateful to not have encountered it.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? yes! my wangxian wedding fic was translated to russian.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? i co-wrote seventy thousand words of published fic with @feyburner! and probably two hundred thousand words of unpublished fic and outlines and story ideas just for fun. even when we aren’t co-writing we tend to talk through our individual fics with each other so we’re pretty in sync when it comes to writing. i also spent like a year in @cairoscene’s DMs concocting whole outlines/zerodrafts for batfam fics together that i still cherish and reread (notable favs: tim drake ella enchanted au, concept where the waynes are cursed to suddenly feel nothing but apathy about tim and he has to deal with that, story where robin!tim gets de-aged and oops red hood is the first one to show up…). i’d say the OCBFEU is fic-adjacent and cowritten by a group of us. also shoutout to the mdzs threadfic @cafecliche and i brainstormed/zerodrafted where lan qiren gets cursed into an owl and post-cql wei wuxian is the one who unknowingly saves him.
14. What's your all time favorite ship? oh yeah it’s [loud truck goes by]
15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? cyborg!wwx…i still think of you fondly. the only ao3 fic i’ve ever posted knowing i probably wouldn’t finish it but wanted to share just for fun.
16. What are your writing strengths? pangs… mining little character details for humor (or, more often, for more pangs)… i also think i’ve really improved my action writing/pacing over the last few years.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? i write actual drafts/prose fairly slowly, which can be frustrating for me. also like @yuebings i often get very caught up in trying to perfect one small part of a draft before moving on. ummmm describing outfits/settings for reasons other than immediate plot-relevant details, i’m terrible at that + remembering to do it—i literally make myself do a What Are We Looking At Here Pass while revising sometimes.
18. Thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics? i’m not totally sure what this question is asking tbh, but it’s something i think can be done incredibly well—and, like with many things in storytelling, it’s the sort of thing where if you don’t actually speak the second language you need to be willing to put in work beyond a cursory google to try to achieve what you’re doing, and be willing to admit if it’s beyond your capabilities. i really like how the portuguese dialogue in bbts ended up and that’s 100% because @tigerjpg translated it for me and also already understood the scene/concept/characters; without them i would have found a different way to approach that scene. also, stylistically, i personally like when dialogue in other languages isn’t italicized unless there’s a real reason for it to be.
19. First fandom you wrote for? oh it was [a second loud truck whooshes by]
20. Favorite fic you have written? right now it’s bbts, because i think it’s also the fic i’ve had the most fun writing. trrty, though, will always hold a special place in my heart.
and i tag! @tlumeti, @burins, @smilebackwards, @bonesbuckleup, @hearteyeshayley, @sonosvegliato
#this was so fun thank you#also i loved getting tagged so many times because i could immediately go read everyone's writeups#like a very fun trip down memory lane#my fic

20 Questions for Fic Writers
thanks for the tag @jattendschaton and @miabrown007!! blowing u guys kisses
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
8 💪
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
105,963
3. What fandoms do you write for?
miraculous ladybug<3
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
this question is great bc nearly all of my 8 fics make it in👍
golden (like daylight)
call it even
at our wedding
circles & cycles (right back where you started)
no other shade of blue, but you
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
sometimes!! I try to!!! not as often as i wish i did :( I was pretty consistently replying on call it even for a while but then i fell behind and it got overwhelming😭 there are so many lovely ones I go back and reread all the time though!!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
no other shade of blue but you maybe? not sure if it counts as angsty it's very short and ends with marinette just being sort of sad and wistful. i'm not built for angsty endings<3
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
probably golden (like daylight)! that's definitely the one i'm proudest of at least.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
no not really!!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No👍
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
haha not yet but i've had an anastasia inspired fic in the works for soo long. one day i'll dust it off and finish
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
AHAHA YES I co-wrote call it even with my sister @sha-nwa!!! one of the most fun experiences of my life, abby's such an incredible writer and she did marinette so much justice.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
lovesquare (shocking)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
i have tooons of wips in my google docs but i am wary of posting anything on ao3 that’s not a one shot/something i’m sure i’ll finish. one i think might be lost to time is my ladrien greek mythology wip💔
16. What are your writing strengths?
a lot of comments I get are related to prose/description so maybe that? I tend to spend a lot of time trying to pick out the exact right words for each sentence so that it has the sonic/rhythmic quality i'm going for. golden is probably the best example of this; I worked and reworked those sentences for many months until I was satisfied haha. I remember wanting it to feel sort of like the building of a song
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
my writing can be sort of dense and hard to get through sometimes!! I think I have a tendency to try and pack a lot into every sentence, which is fun for me to write, but can be difficult to get through as a reader. it's sort of the polar opposite to how I approach drawing silly comics, where the goal is to deliver the point/joke as clearly and effectively as possible. writing puts me in a much more contemplative headspace, which makes my fic not quite as digestable I think
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I admit i am guilty of peppering in random french words in ml fic whenever I feel like it 💔 I usually use italics though
19. First fandom you wrote for?
dear evan hansen I think? (<-I was a very specific type of annoying in high school)
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
have to give it to my og adrien essay golden (like daylight). it has all my favorite stuff. adrinette. what could loosely be called a plot. the word "something." I said what I needed to say
tagging anyone who wants to!!
#ml#anna rambles#ml fic#ty for the tags bren and mia sorry for responding 10 years later#I just found this post mostly finished in my drafts and decided to all the way finish it

13 books
What’s up readers?! How about a little show and tell? Answer these 13 questions, tag 13 lucky readers and if you’re feeling extra bookish add a shelfie! Let’s Go!
Tagged by @softest-punk. whoops. this is from April 😅
1) The Last book I read:
I've been rereading Narnia and I recently finished book 3, almost finished book 4 too. It's honestly delightful. I hadn't read them since I was 10. I've got portal fantasies spinning in my mind now though. Prince Caspian was giving me thoughts. There's a universe where there will be a Dreamling portal fantasy, if I get to it.
2) A book I recommend:
A recent read I really enjoyed was Journey by Moonlight by Antal Szerb. It kinda called me out on all my worst impulses though.
3) A book that I couldn’t put down:
Entire Stormlight Archive series. It fed my poor, starving, "needs excessive levels of enrichment" brain. I'm on the last one, I don't know what I'll do when I finish the series. Wait for the next one? Goddammit.
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):
I don't reread books that often, other than Narnia I guess, but with that one it's been so long it's not really rereading anymore. I don't have a huge amount of time for reading so I'm more often reading new things.
5) A book on my TBR:
Recently I've been thinking that I want to read more Borges... I even had a dream about it last night 😂 wherein I was back in university taking a class on South American literature, except the class was in Spanish and I don't speak Spanish so really not sure what that was trying to tell me.
6) A book I’ve put down:
I dropped Wolf Hall halfway through although I'm hoping my brain will come back to it. I just got kind of mired in it and lost track of what was happening like 15 times 😂 maybe audiobook-while-doing-manual-labor wasn't the medium for this one... though the audiobook narration is great.
7) A book on my wish list:
I've been moving around at least every few years since college so I'm not really "collecting" books atm and don't have a wishlist of ones to own... The closest thing would be like niche media studies books from university that are barely in print that I want copies of XD considering how often I'm looking it up I should track down a copy of Jerome Christensen's book on studio authorship which was actually foundational to my conception of the systems and structures that mold storytelling, especially in the US.
8) A favorite book from childhood:
I was a Warrior Cats kid 😎
9) A book you would give to a friend:
Normally if I'm trying to pawn a book off on someone else it's because it's super cursed and I want them to experience it too 😂 an example: this published Obama & Biden fanfiction that I actually own
one of my weirder possessions to be sure
10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own:
There are many, but the one I'll always keep is my signed copy of Night Sky With Exit Wounds, even though it took me like 7 years to read it, because I'm slow at reading sometimes.
11) A nonfiction book you own:
They are mostly all media studies--a great one is Listening In by Susan Douglas which is a history of radio in the US.
12) What are you currently reading:
I always have a ton of books laying around the house that I'm "currently reading." When I remember they're there. Primarily right now it's Rhythm of War (Stormlight Archive 4) and House of Leaves. And Narnia of course.
13) What are you planning on reading next?
I should probably finish The Tatami Galaxy which I started a while back and then forgot about 😂 it's just sitting there neglected. More generally want to read all the random books I already own so I don't have to lug them all with me the next time I move.
woof, this thing is actually so long no wonder it took me 4 months to fill out. tagging @magnusbae, @arialerendeair, @beatnikfreakiswriting if you even want to do this many questions 😂

I was tagged by @dangerously-human like a month ago I'm so sorry for a fanfic writer tag game, and I finally remembered that I never actually did it!! I'm so bad at these things
1. How did you get into writing fanfiction? I was like 13 I think and I had become a rabid fan of the 2012 TMNT series, and I filled a brightly colored notebook with self-insert TMNT fanfic. 😂 What's funny is that at this time, I didn't even know that the concept of fanfiction existed, and that it was something other people wrote as well. Because I had very little online presence at the time (thank God), so I had no exposure to fanfiction in general. I just thought, "Okay I know this is totally crazy but what I put myself in this story and I was a teenage mutant ninja black panther and Leo was in love with me." I was truly a revolutionary. I didn't discover the massive presence of fanfiction online until about three years later I think, and that was when I started reading Gravity Falls and Miraculous Ladybug fanfics on fanfiction dot net.
2. How many fandoms have you written in? Good question. I haven't published everything for every fandom that I've written in, so some of these just exist in a locked vault inside my brain or in a long abandoned OpenOffice document. Or in a brightly colored houndstooth-patterned notebook. TMNT, Star Wars, Gravity Falls, How To Train Your Dragon, Carmen Sandiego, Stranger Things, Detroit: Become Human, Lockwood & Co., Legends of Avantris, Red Dead Redemption. I feel like there's probably more than that but I can't remember. The ones in green are the ones that I have actually published fic for, though a lot of the older ones have been deleted.
3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction? This is difficult because I haven't been writing fanfiction consistently for very many years at all, but I started writing fanfic like 10 years ago. Somewhat consistently? Like two years. 😂
4. Do you read or write more fanfiction? Very much depends on where I'm at in life and what media I'm currently fixated on, but for a while I've been writing way more than I've been reading. I go through phases of both.
5. What is one way you've improved as a writer? I think my pacing is a lot better than it used to be. I think I've gotten better at rereading what I've written and recognizing where the pacing is off. I often don't have an easy time of fixing it yet, because it's such an odd and abstract concept to nail down, but you can see it when it's wrong. Something I've tried to be very intentional about of late.
6. What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project? The legal repercussions of assaulting a police officer in Michigan. That was for the Detroit: Become Human fic. 😂
7. What's your favorite type of comment to receive on your work? I LOVE when people pick up on my foreshadowing and start theorizing on various story elements that I haven't revealed yet. That basically only happens with And I Would Stay A While Longer because it's the only one of my fics with a significant amount of intrigue, but it makes me so happy seeing those comments. I love knowing that I've foreshadowed something effectively.
8. What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about? Hmmmmmm . . . is it fringe to write fanfic for a dnd campaign? That's probably the closest thing I have to fringe honestly. And as for fringe tropes, I'm not really sure that my fanfics feature many. My original work, on the other hand . . .
9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write? Stories with large casts, where I have to keep track of a lot of characters. That's exhausting. I don't like it. 😂 I like my stories very intimate. My writing is very character-focused rather than plot-focused, and I like to reserve that focus to as few characters as possible. One of my original works only features two characters throughout the entire story and that's it.
10. What is the easiest type? Intimate, fluffy oneshots. Emotional fulfillment fics. Unsurprisingly.
11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? Back in the day I started out with OpenOffice, then I jumped to Google Docs, then I jumped to Microsoft Word, and that's where I'm at right now. I own Scrivener and I very much want to use it but it intimidates me and I am so bad at learning new software/word processors. 😭
12. What is something that you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day? The rest of AIWS 🤣 No but seriously, funny story, I had plans for YEARS to write my own version of Haymitch's Games from The Hunger Games because Haymitch is my favorite character and I was desperate for more of his story, so I compiled a whole document of everything we learned about the 50th Quarter Quell and Haymitch and his family/friends, and that document sat untouched for so long because I was too intimidated to try to write the story . . . and then of course the news came out that Suzanne Collins herself is writing it. And I couldn't be happier. 😂
13. What made you choose your username? My AO3 username is Fox_Autumn. I nicknamed myself after Fox Mulder, and I needed another word to stick on the end of that to make it a valid username. I love autumn, and I thought it sounded pretty so there ya have it.
These were super duper fun!! Thank you so much for the tag!! :DDD 💙💙💙
Tagging with absolutely no pressure: @womaninwinter @nomolosk @argentumcor @krash-8 @celestial-citrus
#LOOK AT THAT I ACTUALLY MANAGED TO TAG THE CORRECT NUMBER OF PEOPLE FOR ONCE#though on that note if i have tagged you and you are not a fanfic writer i apologize#i am very good at misremembering which of my mutuals are writers and which are not#writing

Fandom creators tag game
Thank you @waytooinvested and @fabulousglitch for the tag!
1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of?
Proudest fic - There are a few I tend to choose from, but right now it's Even Though You're Kryptonian
Fanvid - My Rise vid
2. What fandom(s) do you create for?
Supercorp. (And a very tiny amount of Dansen and soon Rojarias.)
3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it?
Supercorp!! I don't think it's a controversial ship, lol.
4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon?
They are to me 😌
5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you?
My first obsession (and still greatest love) was Xena. I started watching the show a few episodes into season 1, when I was 6 years old. It was very formative.
That said, I didn't really get involved in any fandom communities until Supercorp (in early 2022).
6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date?
I don't think I get super unhinged, but as a pilot I did like creating this dumb incorrect quote.
7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it?
I was getting frustrated at not being able to find certain types of fics, and it struck me that... I was allowed to write my own.
8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations?
Yup! My partner read my first two fics in support, and several of my IRL friends have read at least one of my fics because I didn't have the good sense to keep that information to myself when I was getting started. It's mortifying lol. But my friends are very cool people.
9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made?
Fanworks of fanworks are amazing!!! I've been incredibly lucky to have that happen three times (post), and gotten asked for permission for a different continuation and a podfic that may eventually happen.
10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations?
Angst. Longing. Bits of compassion too.
11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it?
I love each and every one of my commenters ❤️
Honestly, the compliments that stick with me most are "I came back to reread this" or "this idea is still living rent-free in my head" type comments. I think that's what all writers and artists want - to feel that their art lasted in someone's mind beyond the first time seeing it.
12. What’s your favourite thing someone else has made that you’ve seen in the last 24 hours (and link it if you can find it again!)
Technically it was more than 24hrs ago but this art by @awaitingrain is so fucking cute!!
13. Give a small sneak preview of something you’re working on right now (eg a couple of sentences of fic from a WIP, a gif set theme, a small piece of a larger picture, whatever you feel happy to share)
I have a ficlet (that's getting out of control), here's a snippet:
Lena was cozying into the warmth of Kara’s body, when Lena spoke. “I’m thinking of visiting my mother’s house soon,” she said shyly. “I want to find out more about her. Where I came from.”
“That sounds lovely,” Kara said softly.
“Do you want to come with me?” Lena asked.
Kara hesitated.
14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several)
Both of them are on my reading list 👀
15. Do you leave comments on fandom works, and if so how would you describe your comment style?
Some of my comments are very simple, some of my comments are very long. I've tried to get more consistent about commenting ever since starting to write, because I know how important it is. Unfortunately, I also read a lot less now that I'm writing more.
16. How many works in progress do you currently have? Will you finish them all?
I have 5 WIPs! I'm very confident I'll finish them all.
17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?
I guess my worldkiller Kara fic took a bit over 3 months, though part of that was spacing with the Supercorp Big Bang.
I tend to write fast. One of the things I'm actually trying to do is slow down to fill out the story a bit more.
18. Describe the thing you made most recently in a way that is technically true, but also completely misleading. Link the thing if it’s published!
Lena has a bad day in the lab (Clockwork).
19. Do you ever engage with fanworks for a fandom you’re not in? Which one(s) and how did you get into it?
I totally engage in fanart from other fandoms that cross my dashboard, particularly korrasami. I don't tend to read fanfic of stuff I haven't engaged in, though.
20. Recommend a fan work from your fandom to your followers
This fanvid is probably my favorite in the entire fandom.
Suggested tag list, but there are no rules here, follow your heart.
A mutual you have never actually spoken to but think seems cool - oh there are so many of these!! I am tagging @mssirey who I don't think I've had a proper convo with yet
The most recent person whose content you engaged with (eg read a fic, reblogged art, whatever form you feel best fits) - @thealieninhiding (though by the time I finish this very long post it might be someone else lol)
Someone whose content you saw via tags/reblogs and you followed them because of it - @jadedloverart!
Someone in your fandom that you think makes cool things - @ekingston

🌸 Fic Tag Game 🌸
I was tagged by @badmoodbatflowers, @transitat, and @burntblueberrywaffles - thanks!
20 questions below the cut:
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
52
2. What’s your AO3 word count?
171,301
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently, just Wednesday!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
4/5 of these are from the same series 😂
Touch Me
Snow Day
The Jacket
Whenever, however
Sword Swallowing
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! I like to save responding to fic’s comments for a day when I’m feeling down, and then I go through and respond to them all at once for a major pick me up. (I do still read them all as they come in though)
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don’t usually write angsty endings, but it would definitely be Hypnotized - it’s a dark fic with a dark ending.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most all of my fics have sappy, tooth-rotting endings, but Bride Bandit probably has the happiest one of all.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really! I am very lucky for this.
9. Do you write smut? What kind?
Hahahahahahaha. Yes. I write mostly smut. What kind? I am not sure exactly what this is asking. It’s graphic but usually romantic? I hope?
10. Do you write cross-overs?
I am not super interested in crossovers, but I’m not against writing them. As of now, I have one (to my knowledge) called The Old Red Mill, which is a Scooby Doo inspired work.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes!!! It’s the coolest thing! My entire Touch Me series was translated to Russian by the user Little_Brother on AO3.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, and so far they have all been amazing experiences! I have co-written with @wincestation, @averyaddamsromance, @nonamemanga @ourdramaqueen and @realmermaid333, who are all brilliant and kind.
13. What WIP would you like to finish but doubt you ever will?
I firmly believe I’ll get to it. But probably Snow Day.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I don’t know if I have one. One that I tend to come back to when I’m between ships is Sterek (Derek/Stiles from Teen Wolf)
15. What are your writing strengths?
I’m good about writing almost every day, and I think I’m good at establishing a setting quickly because I write such short pieces.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
I sometimes have issues with being too brief or overly simplistic, meaning I often have to go back and add detail after I write my first draft, and even then I yearn to be able to write with the poetry of some of the authors in this fandom. I also lack variety in my diction and sentence structure.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I only speak English fluently, so I would feel uncomfortable doing so unless it was unavoidable or if I had someone fluent in another language to help me. I just don’t want to make a mistake.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Anne with an E!
19. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
This is a terrible question, and I won’t answer it. (Probably Car Jacked and the rest of that series)
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day?
Snow Day!!! 😭 It causes me pain to reread it, but I wish I didn’t feel that way.
Tagging: @therulerofallpotatos @realmermaid333 @ourdramaqueen @wileyonce @writerrose1998 @cupoteahatter @wincestation @katwitchwriting let me suck the marrow from your bones I’d like to know your answers to these!

~ book recommendations ~
tagged by @lavampira! thank you <3 i'll tag... @faerune, @elvves, + @ravensgard i have multiple answers to these questions, of course, but i'm gonna try to stick to my more recent reads.
1. the last book you read:
Embrace Your Weird by Felicia Day. I was expecting more inspiration rather than confidence-building, but it was still fun (even if Day is extremely millennial-humor).
2. a book you recommend:
My latest 5-star read, Die a Little by Megan Abbott. It was just so perfect. If you follow me on Goodreads and read my review you know.
3. a book you couldn’t put down:
Pompeii by Robert Harris. It was actually for class but it was just so well-written and exciting (duh, it's about a volcano exploding).
4. a book you’ve read twice (or more):
I actually don't often reread... I've only ever reread The Hobbit, A Game of Thrones (because I was continuing the series), and Island of the Blue Dolphins (fave as a kid).
5. a book on your TBR:
I have 575 books on my TBR so I randomized my Goodreads shelf. The first one that came up was The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.
6. a book you’ve put down:
Most recently: Dear Sylvia, Love Jane by Erin Hall. It was a mess despite the good premise.
7. a book on your wishlist:
I mean, every single book on my TBR is on my wishlist. I don't usually buy books either so 🤔 Here's another random from my TBR: Queens of the Age of Chivalry by Alison Weir.
8. a favorite book from childhood:
Besides what I mentioned above, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
9. a book you would give to a friend:
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. I think it has a broad appeal and I loved it (I love her in general).
10. a book of poetry or lyrics you own:
Cowboy Poetry: A Gathering. Haven't read it yet!
11. a nonfiction book you own:
A is for Arsenic: The Poisons of Agatha Christie by Kathryn Harkup. Also have yet to read, but probably soon.
12. what you are currently reading:
Three books! Life in a Medieval City by the Gies, The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, and A Storm of Swords by George RR Martin.
13. what you are planning on reading next:
Honestly idk! I don't usually plan on what to read next because the reading mood I'm in changes a lot. Maybe a 1930s mystery, maybe a middle ages history, maybe a short fantasy story. We'll see.

✨ Twenty Questions for Fic Writers ✨
Thank you @reminiscingintherain for tagging me!
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
67, soon to be 68 with the Trick or Treat Fest ficlet I've written!
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
359,280
3. What fandoms do you write for?
One Direction. I've written some 1d rare pairs which adds BBC Radio 1, Music, Fashion Model, and Actor RPF to my fandoms list in ao3.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Nailed By Louis, Not Another Lonely Christmas, All That You Need, The Prince and The YouTuber, Take on Me
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Not right away but I do respond. I read them as soon as I see the email notification, but I wait to respond until I need a boost. It's so nice to reread every comment in my inbox as I respond.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Surprisingly not the one that ends with MCD! My angstiest ending is a 500 word girl direction ficlet The Phantom Heart.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I love happy endings so it's tough to pick! I'm going to go with We're Getting Better With Time because it's about second chances, so the ending feels like a new beginning for their love.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
The closest thing I've gotten to hate was a tweet about Premier Fantasies where someone was appalled by the Harry Styles/Ted Lasso pairing. It wasn't aimed at my writing, just the choice in pairing, so I took it as a compliment that I could write something that shocked people.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do write it, but not as much as I used to. When I started writing I felt so much pressure to add smut into every fic because it gets better engagement, more hits, etc. But the more I've written, the less I care about the numbers.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I've written a couple of crossovers! Premier Fantasies is Harry Styles in the Ted Lasso universe, which was crazy just because of the pairing. I had a lot of fun writing dialogue for Ted in this one. The craziest plot-wise is Love and Other Antidotes, which is a One Direction take on Emperor's New Groove, and features Kronk, Disney style hijinks, and Harry as a little cow!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of. I think short fics and rare pairs tend to be stolen less often, so so far I've been safe.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't allow translations, but someone did post a translation of one without asking. I have mixed feelings about translations.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have not. I feel like as a capricorn I would want to have too much control over the story for it to be a good idea.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I read and write Larry fics the most, but I also love Niall/Greg James as a pairing and think their dynamic is so underrated.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
My very first fic. It's a werewolf pack fic I started plotting in 2017. I didn't get very far before hitting some major plot holes that I was too inexperienced as a writer to be able to fill. I have grown so much as a writer since then that it wouldn't be the same fic with the same purpose as when I started writing it.
16. What are your writing strengths?
My biggest strength is that I write for myself. I love writing short oneshots even though long fics are get more kudos. I adore the humor of crack fics, even though angsty fics get more hits. I will tackle any new rare pair I want, even if I'm the only person that will read it.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I am a creature of habit and my habits have been disturbed. I'd worked hard to develop a habit of writing a couple of times a week, and it was going so well. But after moving and other life changes in the last year, it's been difficult to find the time or energy to write. I wish I could flip on the motivation like a switch.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
There are a couple of books I remember because of the author's use of code switching throughout the dialogue, and I think it can be really powerful for some stories. But since English is my native language, I would only use it for my own writing if it added to the story, and if had the time to properly research and get it reviewed.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The phandom in 2016 but I didn't post it back then. One Direction was the first fandom where I shared my fic.
20. Favourite fic you've written?
I'm going to do this by category because I can't choose only one:
Larry fic: We're Getting Better With Time Girl Direction fic: Close Our Eyes (Pretend We're Miles Away) Rare Pair fic: Now All The Clouds Been Lifted Ficlet: Through the Static

Gallavich Questionnaire
Thank you @energievie for tagging me to do this! I get too unhinged when talking about these two boys, so warning for very elaborate ramblings 🙏
1. What’s a fic you’ve read more than once?
This fic is the prime example of why you should write a fic even if you think nobody’s going to read it, because it’s my favorite gallavich fic even though most people don’t want to read about them getting a divorce. But I do, okay, because a normal break-up doesn’t cut it (especially since we already see those in canon, but post-canon is up to our interpretation) and it’s just more serious. I think they will work out their issues before it gets too far in canon but it just hurts so fucking good. The reason for their divorce is so realistic too, in fact it’s not one but a lot of problems piled on top of each other. They think it’s only going to hurt everyone involved including their children, which is arguably true in context, but they can’t resist each other and it’s this back and forth push. There’s parallels to canon, the writing is so good without being drawn out, and there’s so much nuance, emotion, and subtly hinting at something beneath the surface. The pining is just delicious because it’s not “I don’t know if you feel this way about me” or “I’m not allowed to be with you,” it’s “I want to be with you so badly but I’m trying to resist that because it’s going to hurt everyone.” Then the trying so hard not to care because “we’re over, but you’re in trouble and I’m trying to move on and I’m never going to love someone else like I love you” 😭😭😭 anyway I actually had to stop myself from rereading too often for comfort because it was too much LOL
the author said they were going to update it January of this year so I’ll be patiently waiting 😔
3. What's a headcanon you can't stop thinking about?
You know that post abt how when you're sleepy you imagine your favs sleepy? I keep imagining Ian wrapping their comforter around Mickey like a cocoon when he has a nightmare and cuddling him, it's cute
4. What's a fanart you love looking at?
The first image of this by @gallavichonly JUST GETS ME SO FERAL. THEIR FUCKING EXPRESSIONS.
5. What’s an idea you’d love to create if you had the time/inspiration?
I want to draw a character concept art sheet for their outfits/weapons/mechanics for kinda a zombie apocalypse AU. Designing that sounds fun but I need to research more
6. What’s something you’ve discovered since entering this fandom? A new trope you love? A different analysis of the show? Something else?
The jealousy trope, especially jealous Mickey. I guess in other fandoms, people write jealousy in a really possessive, cringy way. Not saying gallavich aren't possessive as fuck but at least they earned it, you know? There's too many ships where one of them is breathing down the other person's love interest's neck but they don't even know you exist, like calm down 😭 Meanwhile gallavich tease and try to get each other to admit it first, and Mickey is biting his tongue trying not to say anything and then "Fucking cheat on me, Ian?!", "Whatcha doin' here then?" AND THEIR EXPRESSIONS WHEN THEY EACH SAY "WHEN YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW" ARUGHHHHHH I'M SO GONE
7. What’s an underrated trope or concept you’d like to see more of?
Touched on this earlier but basically the more tragic/gritty ones—a huge argument, break-ups, unrequited love, falling out of love, hanahaki, amnesia, MCD...
10. What scene or moment do you feel isn’t discussed enough?
Eh I think we've dissected the shit out of every scene lmao, but probably their s4 reunion? The lap dance?
11. What line/dialogue/description from something else (a poem, a book, a tv show, a movie, or something else) do you feel describes Ian and Mickey’s relationship?
Obviously "I'll take care of you. / It's rotten work. / Not to me. Not if it's you."
12. What do you think is next for Ian and Mickey post-finale?
I want Ian to go back to being an EMT no matter what :( but their current security gig fits Mickey a lot. Ian also gets really into gardening, he'll be so good to the point where he'll be known in the neighborhood. And Mickey has a little hobby for drawing. They'll adopt a pitbull because Mickey was actually enthusiastic about that idea, which meets Ian halfway by still giving him something to take care of. Now for the elephant in the room: I think it's okay if Mickey never wants a kid, and there's a lot of issues ingrained in them that unless they go to therapy for a couple of years, hinder them from becoming perfect parents tbh. Now I'm not saying they'll be bad, but will their best be enough? Will they be content? Idk, I don't have any experience and I see them with more issues/flaws than the majority of the fandom? Honestly I just don't see that future for them (but I do enjoy kid AUs because who doesn't.) They'll stay on the West Side because I want them to get out but not stray too far from their family. I also can't think about them getting old or I'll sob, but I wrote a fic about how they'll retire and just live comfortably because it's what they deserve, and they'll take tons of vacations when they save up enough money.
oh my god that was way too much but in my defense i rarely get to rant abt them ok!! anyway now that I went through the whole spectrum of emotions, i'm tagging @michellemisfit, @lupeloto, @jademickian & @softmick 🚶♀️

Fic author interview! I was tagged by @what-alchemy - thank you! No-pressure tagging @phdmama, @incognitajones, @alessandriana, @lynne-monstr, and anyone else who wants to play.
How many works do you have on AO3?
349 publically, maybe a dozen more in anon collections, and two or three that I've orphaned for various reasons.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
1,349,113, ye gods.
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Calamity's Child (Stranger Things) - 7249 kudos
Body of Memory (Shadowhunters) - 5029 kudos
Star of the Masquerade (Stranger Things) - 4923 kudos
lost souls and reverie (The Witcher - TV) - 3118 kudos
So Newly Charming (Stranger Things) - 2274 kudos
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I used to, but I've been really bad about it in the past year or so. I do read and cherish every comment I get, though.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hard to say! There are a couple of Supernatural ficlets from ~13 years ago with fairly fucked up endings. Of my somewhat recent fic, probably either Empty or Bonny Mad Boys (both for Shadowhunters), with a special mention for my zombie apocalypse Buddie fic, where the dead men lost their bones, although that does at least allow for the possibility of a happy(ish) ending.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Honestly, the vast majority of my fic has happy endings, even when I put them through the wringer first.
7. Do you write crossovers?
I've written a few, mostly for various fic challenges. It's not something I do all that often though.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Oh, yeah. Death threats, even! Shadowhunters fandom was weirdly unhinged about this.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Um, yes. XD
I used to write smut very rarely, and feel extremely awkward about it, and then I decided to write 100k words worth of fills for the Clowntown kinkmeme, and that pretty much cured me of that.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know?
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, several, into a handful of different languages. Always very exciting! I link back if I know about them.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not one that ever actually got posted.
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I have been in fandom wayyyy too long to answer this, lol.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I have a really angsty Reddie cheating fic that I wrote like 20k words of and then abandoned. I sometimes think about returning to it, but honestly I probably won't.
15. What are your writing strengths?
I think I write pretty good dialogue - it's definitely one of the things I enjoy the most. Also action and smut, which IMO are pretty similar from a logistical standpoint.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
I am so bad at anything resembling plotting. SO bad. And frankly I always feel like my fluff is stilted and saccharine; I do much better with angst, generally speaking.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I've done it before, but I probably wouldn't now, not the least because I'm really not fluent enough in any other language to be worth it.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
That I actually posted? LOTR RPF. Thankfully, that's been lost to the defunct forums of 2002. I've been writing fic just for my own entertainment pretty much as long as I've been able to read, though.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
Good Omens! I've read a fair amount of fic, but I didn't really get immersed in the fandom until after season 2. I have a couple of ideas that I'm playing around with, but I don't completely feel like I've got the character voices down yet.
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written
This changes OFTEN. I think right now, So Newly Charming is the fic I've written most recently that actually came out exactly how I wanted it to. I can reread it without cringing, which is a rarity for me.

20 questions for fic writers
i was tagged by the wonderfulll meg @ladyfenring thank you!!!! sorry i took weeks to do this lol
1. how many works do you have on AO3? 62
2. what's your total AO3 word count? 578,129
3. what fandoms do you write for? asoiaf mostly
4. top five fics by kudos: my austenland jxb au, puppets dancing on strings (my 12 dancing princesses au), my hp au (i debate about orphaning it due to joann shenanigans except it has one line that still touches my heart too much to do so), the maiden of the tree (gendry is a trueborn child of cersei and robert au and betrothed to arya), and no chance and no choice (post s7 ep3, basically right before the show went even more to shit)
5. do you respond to comments? usually but often waay later. the only time i don't is if someone does a lot in a row (like they're marathoning and commenting every chapter which I loveeeee) - I just try to respond to their most recent comment unless they're going in deep with their comment
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? my Theon/Jeyne fic "That's One Hell of a Mess"
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Austenland
8. do you get hate on fics? sometimes! sometimes people are just kind of dicks.
i think the funniest one was when some idiot went around asking when sansa was going to get spanked and i was like: wrong fic brah
9. do you write smut? yup
10. craziest crossover? probably disney x asoiaf lol
11. have you ever had a fic stolen? ummmm honestly i think so but I can't remember for sure
12. have you ever had a fic translated? yes!! into russian a few different times. and i appreciated they asked for permission.
13. have you ever co-written a fic before? yup but not on ao3 - olden days
14. all time favorite ship? jaime x brienne who are we kidding
15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? The Tempered Kingdoms - I honestly love the universe and i find it really interesting but I'd have to go deep into fandom lore and that's also the one i feel like brings out the fandom wank more than the other fics.
people get mad if i'm nice to dany or mean to dany or mean to sansa or nice to sansa or sympathetic to cersei or arya (notice it's always the women). and honestly in addition to the research and reading involved, i don't want to deal w/that lol
16. what are your writing strengths? characterization and dialogue
17. what are your writing weaknesses? honestly right now I feel like everything is but I feel like planning the story because I'm definitely a "gardener". not that it's always a bad thing but it can really cause a problem in a situation where you're posting as you go and you change your mind about something later.... :////
18. thoughts on dialogue in another language? highly dependent on context
19. first fandom you wrote in? ella enchanted
20. favorite fic you've written? this was difficult but probably Brienne of Sapphire Island. It was a fun world to build and it makes me emotional in a good way when I reread it

13 books! tagged by @old-man-ghost
1)Last book I read I read Ocean at the end of the lane in two days recently. It was a very fun concept. It's the kind of book that would have left a lifelong impression on me if I had read it young. But now it was just one good book in a long line of others. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
2) A book I recommend Let's go with a Taste of Gold and Iron. It's a very fun mystery, and the main character made me go. Wait. I know that feeling! I have a brain exactly like that too! (Riddled with anxiety and self-doubt at the most mundane things, but when things get serious, it's suddenly all business.)
3) A book that I couldn’t put down: I don't know if it exactly fits, because I wasn't fully invested from the start. But I did read all 500+ chapters of Omniscient Readers Viewpoint in just three days. And it is the only book I've ever read that make me go "Wait. I didn't know you could do that with a book." There are so many levels of meta in this book. It's like three books in one.
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more): I reread a ton of books. Let's go for Kalevala just because I was reminded of it while taking the picture at the end of this post. I used to read it every 6 months or so as a teenager. When we were told to read it for school I just read it again instead of telling anyone I'd read it like six times already.
5) A book on my TBR: One that has been there for ages is the Thief by Megan Whalen Turner. I hope to get around to it one day. I already bought it after all.
6) A book I’ve put down: Putting things down (as in meaning to continue then forgetting about it) happens often. Putting down and deciding not to continue very rarely. Last was The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal. I have no idea why. In concept is sounds like just my thing and I have enjoyed her other books. My mind just couldn't get a grip on it, my attention always started to waver instantly.
7) A book on my wish list: I want an ORV official english translation SO BAD. Where is it??? It's announced and everything! Same for Nirvana In FIre, actually. Usually if I wish for a book I just buy it. It has to not exist to stay on my wish list long.
8) A favorite book from childhood: How young are we talking? Roald Dahl's witches book was my favourite at age 5. His dark materials at age 8. Good omens at age 12. Farseer trilogy at age 14. (all ages approximate)
9) A book you would give to a friend: 've gifted two people with All systems red. I would love to give it to everyone I know.
10) The most books you own by a single author: Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. As long as all 8 physical tgcf books and 4 svsss books count as separate. Though Brandon Sanderson comes very close. I think I have 7 of his books as physical copies and a few as audiobooks.
11) A nonfiction book you own: The Dawn of Everything is both excellent worldbuilding material, and really opened my eyes on how uncreative and stuck I was about how societies 'must' work. Applicable to real life as well.
12) What are you currently reading: I am still reading Exordia. It is an excellent book I'd recommend to everyone (as long as you are not particularly sensitive to body horror). But that is also why I'm going slowly because I only want to read it when I can concentrate properly. I am also reading Trash of the Count's Family when I need a less serious book, and an isekai manga, and What technology wants. The best way for me to read stuff is read whatever I feel like at the moment.
13) What are you planning on reading next? I got The Traitor Baru Cormorant at the same time I got Exordia so that's probably next.
My shelfie (one of several bookshelves. I should really weed them):

20 19 questions for writers
<- why did they lie to me about the #? i demand answers.
I was in bed and going to bed and then I saw that I was tagged by ANTA MY FRIEND @antariies so i got out of bed to answer these
tagging: um. well i dont know. teensie. do you write...? you have to do this then. even if you are in bed.
1. how many works do you have on ao3?
39 right now, but I know I've orphaned about that many as well
2. what fandoms do you write for?
right now... all guild wars 2.
previously I've done a lot of metro 2033, half life, jojo's bizarre adventure, digimon, katekyo hitman reborn... and then less of hlvrai, final fantasy vii, and fruits basket... gw2 is all i do for right now. <:)
3. what are your top 5 by kudos?
This is super skewed because I orphaned a tooooon of my more popular stuff but Nuclear Option, two other vrai fics, Lent (<- should be number 1 if we're being honest and true) and a fruits basket thing that i should have probably also orphaned. the overwhelming urge to orphan things to skew the data further. you have to hold me back
4. do you respond to comments?
yes but not in a timely fashion (last round took me. over a year before i replied to anything. pensive.
5. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I dunno about actually angsty.... the fic that makes me cry every time is butterfly bridge; I wrote it after having to put a pet to sleep. if I ever got around to writing more "portal to the metro" the ending would probably also rank up there. due to. the tragedies.
6. what is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
proooooobably Lent? idk I feel like I get a lot of "fuck yeah that ending ohhh the catharsis" type reactions on Lent.
7. do you get hate on fics?
I have a number of times. sometimes anon but sometimes people put their names to it?
8. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
yes. sorry. the apologetic kind.
9. do you write crossovers?
not often... usually a crossover is a pretend thing just for me in my Imagination. however. portal to the metro... it was a roleplay between myself and a friend. and then i started writing it in earnest. and then i got tired. then i started writing primarily gw2 stuff. you understand. but someday I'll return to it. and then they'll all be sorry.
10. have you ever had a fic stolen?
um. kind of. when I was 17-18 I plotted out a fic I was working on and shared it with a couple of dear close friends. and then like a couple weeks later a massively popular person in the fandom in question posted my fic: their version. down to every little detail. 🙈 never found out which of my friends shared the planning with them.
11. have you ever co-written a fic before?
yeah, Pluto's Moon -- started 8 years ago, finished almost a year later... I wouldn't bother rereading it at this point but. it was a fun experience. we had fun. I also cowrote several chapters of a Reborn crossover fic with my long distance mmo friend when I was a freshman in high school. I don't think we ever got anywhere with it let alone posted it to FFN or anything-- I was handwriting short chapters between classes lol. I might still have those pages somewhere...
and then I think I would also consider portal to the metro a co-write in many ways. because it came from both of us :)
12. what's your all-time favorite ship?
well. I think Canach/Alba has been too prominent for too long for me not to say it. canon/oc numero uno!!!!!!
13. what's one WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i dont even wanna answer and jinx it nooooo cry2. I yearn to finish everything... i guess maybe I have some weird misc smut fics I don't anticipate finishing. due to the strangeness.
14. what are your writing strengths?
dialogue is my dearest sweetest friend. my sweetie pee
15. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i LIKE it! thumbs ups. am I GOOD at it? thumbs in the other directions
16. first fandom you wrote for?
Kingdom Hearts before I ever touched any of the games. (like 17-18 years ago)
17. favorite fic you've written?
I feel like my most recent is always my favoritest 😭 uhhhhg
The Echo (current project)
Drochshúil (recent work)
18. what are your writing weaknesses?
I have no pacing control. I can't meet goals, OR i'll go full crazy and write 160k in 2 weeks. you have to watch out because that can happen to you too if you just go off your antipsych meds for a while
also filling in the stuff AROUND dialogue. so often i'll be editing a fic and just (sighs) dama (me) you (i) can't just have 8 lines in a row of dialogue. what are these people doing in between talking. and then dama (me) is like alright wise guy why don't you take a crack at it if you're so smart. and i do. but in the moment of writing i'm not super good at figuring out the in betweeeeeeens.
also I feel like ending scenes and such is really hard. also getting characters from point a to point b (locations) without doing a timeskip to "well here we are at point b!"
19. have you ever had a fic translated?
I had someone ask to do so with one of my metro fics, to repost on a Russian fanfic site; I wasn't particularly attached to the fic so I told them go ahead. but also I have no idea if it ever happened. heart hands. so maybe. there may have been another but I don't rember.

Fic Writer Things & Tags
thanks for the tag @faceofpoe
1. How did you get into writing fanfiction?
I've done fanfiction in my head since I could read books, I was forever rereading my favourite stories and thinking of au's, gapfillers, backstories.... later I also did that with my favourite films and shows. Often my favourite characters weren't necessarily the main characters so I took what I could find about them and enhanced their stories. I never wrote anything down though, that is until The Wind That Shakes The Barley came along - I jotted down some notes and a few single scenes (never to be finished/published though).
I only ever discovered that fanfic existed when the LOTR films came out and that's when I started reading fanfic on LJ and Henneth Annûn. It took a looong time until I actually started writing (and publishing) - there was a group on LJ that had monthly writing challenges with prompts so I started with that, it was mostly drabbles and very short stories.
2. How many fandoms have you written in?
2, LOTR and Star Wars
3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?
about 9 methinks but with big gaps in between
4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?
at the moment I hardly read at all so I actually write more but I hope that'll change soon because I just love reading and I love reading a good fanfic
5. What is one way you’ve improved as a writer?
Uh, hard to say. (Have I improved at all?) I think moving from drabbles to actual stories and that means to let go of pondering over every single word and just go with the flow sometimes (even though I still do a lot of editing)
6. What’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
I'll have to confess that I'm not a big researcher, if in doubt I'll stay vague or make shit up. That is probably one way I'd need to improve as a writer
7. What’s your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?
A comment telling me
that I wrote in character.
that the tone of the story feels right.
that a story is intense, when readers notice that I carefully chose words to fit in with the tone/theme.
that the angst worked
All those are really important to me
8. What’s the most fringe trope/topic you write about?
I guess writing Poe & Jess friendship stories
9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?
long stories, elaborate plot, action scenes
10. What is the easiest type?
angst
much hurt, little comfort
drabbles and very short fic
11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?
using my laptop, LibreOffice Writer, usually at night when I've some time for myself
12. What is something you’ve been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?
long story, elaborate plot
some serious whump
13. What made you choose your username?
Ness is a character in a favourite book and réalta means star and I like stars
