back to studyblr posting again, today was a get everything sorted day, planned out my week a bit and did some catch up tasks

philosophy: completely caught up on all my philosophy notes for the past few weeks, mostly just adding the questions to my notes from seminars, went to my philosophy lecture but didn't pay much attention, also finished the reading for philosophy that i’d started yesterday

quantitative research: went back and rewatched the first lecture i had for quant so i could finally make notes on it and get better situated to brainstorm ideas for my project

#signing off for some time #i have some things to sort through 🫡#please expect something relating to au yvverse on valentines day! (i will be back by then)#a non-snz journal entry before i leave (not expecting anyone to read this):#i think writing humor is an interesting challenge #i remember reading a book in uni where i thought the narration was very interesting and pleasing and sharp #but then reading the reviews for it half a year later and seeing people say 'i couldn't stop laughing when i was reading this' / 'people #on the train were giving me weird looks because i was laughing so hard / this is the funniest book i've read all year' etc. and i remember #feeling distinctly confused... i had not registered that the irony and the sharp commentary were supposed to be funny; they were simply #texturally interesting to me 😭 i also remember submitting a short story draft and having a professor say in workshop 'your writing is very #funny. it reminds me of [movie he liked] which i also found to be very funny'#and i was like 😃❓ (i had also not intended for the story to be funny. but i thought it was a compliment that he read it that way)#humor is so inexplicable to me #i'm working on a series which i actively want to be funny and every time i write out a joke i'm like... fretting a little internally #like do i even know what humor is 😭😭 it's like this relay race exercise where (1) i hand off a scene and (2) the audience interprets it as #playfulness... neither of us is allowed to drop the baton in order for this to work 🏃‍♀️ it's a little scary??!! it feels so vulnerable #i think it's an interesting problem... trying to find all of these little pockets where i can modulate the tone towards playfulness #alsooooo unrelated... these days i find myself feeling the instinctive need to apologize to everyone 😭 i thought i would be fine #but now looking at myself i'm like... girl something is broken here 😭‼️ i tried rephrasing this in like 10 different ways and #nothing seemed right. anyways for good measure: i am sorry #truthfully i still feel like just half a person sometimes #perhaps i shall reemerge from this break metamorphosed into someone more tolerable 🐛 -> 🦋

Sometimes I feel really bad for Vi. In the world she isn't in everyone is well fed, safe, grew up happy together, the cities are reconciled. But in her timeline she doesn't get an inch of happiness and has to just keep losing everyone again and again. Truly the eldest daughter to end all eldest daughters, that losing streak is multiverses wide.

#yes i know she gets a 'happy' ending with Cait but imo too little too late #esp bc its clear she's singing the song for Jinx to mourn her but has to modulate her tone and pretend she's thinking about her mom #since that's more socially acceptable #arcane #vi arcane #anyways i wish s2 was actually 2 seasons or even 10 eps long because none of Vi's trauma is ever properly explored and she deserved better #like a lot of characters had serious gaps in their writing but vi is practically non existent in s2

OKAY... Okay... I finally finished reading through the Castle Ravenloft chapter... and honestly I don't think I need to change too many things to make it PG-13 for my players!

I have to reskin the rats and spiders, adjust the tub ghost, make Pidlwick II a robotic stand-up comedian instead of a scary doll clown, but otherwise Strahd's house is pretty funny already! it's got haunted house traps! it's got the cake room! honestly I don't know why everyone was so worried, this isn't that bad!

Just took my first biology exam and got a pretty decent score of an F! 🎉🎉🎉

#i already have an F in biology anyways #HERE'S WHY THO #learning the course material for me is manageable #WHAT FUCKED ME UP WAS MY ASS FORGETTING OUR PROF HAS US DO ASSIGNMENTS ON ANOTHER SITE #(and my missing a full week earlier on by forgetting- which just HAD to cover 2 chapters worth of content yaaay)#but also that this is the most disorganized course i have #our prof is new so idk if that plays a part in it #but like??? theres no regular updates like 'hey guys dont forget to do this and that!'#like i get it #its college #they emphasize self-discipline so really its on us #but like uggh #what fucked up my overall class grade too (which is already an F btw) is the missed hw #like???? just?? hw that was never included in the module???? like BAM SURPRISE 0 GRADE NOTIFICATION SPAM ON OVER 10+ ASSIGNMENTS U MISSED!!#absolutely wonderful #deadass wanna drop out of this course and just take it again in the next term #so i can get another prof coz i dont like how disorganized this one feels tbh #literally my only complaint about college #but again the blame's on me too for not actively looking so i take accountability #the exam itself was a breeze at the beginning and end #it was just 80% was of the fucking week i missed #my bad for not doing a study speedrun whoopsies I SLIPPED

My friend and I have invented a new way of playing the popular communication game, "Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes." It's called "Keep Talking Chinese and Nobody Explodes."

The premise is that we have to communicate via text, entirely in simplified Chinese. Neither of us know Chinese. Google translate hilarity ensues
