Harris’s character is a maid, but she’s also Stanwyck’s companion, and something of a friend. (...) Meet Joe Black is a 1998 film directed by Martin Brest, a remake of the 1933 film Death Takes a Holiday, previously revived in 1971 with the same name as the original. The film is inspired by the theatrical comedy of the same name by Alberto Casella, which tells of the legends about his summer villa - Villa Josephine, nicknamed the "cursed villa" - in Rocchetta Cairo.

Death came to Earth because he was intrigued by the emotions regarding love praised by Bill, which he will take with him at the end of the journey.

Meanwhile, Bill is ousted from the board of directors of his company by Drew, Susan's ex-boyfriend, who wants to merge with another company.

Filming of the film took place mainly in New York, USA.

The film's soundtrack, whose main theme is Whisper of a Thrill, was composed by Thomas Newman.

The film was released in US cinemas on November 13, 1998 and in Italy on January 29, 1999.

In addition to the full version of the film lasting approximately three hours, a short version was made for television and airline. Because of this modification of the film, which did not involve the majority of Bill Parrish's business, the director, Martin Brest, became very furious, so much so that he signed this version of the feature film with the nickname often used by disgruntled directors, Alan Smithee.

Roger Ebert gave the film three stars, but disliked the marginal plot and overly forced ending. Peter Travers of Rolling Stone gave the film four stars, but criticized the lack of depth of most of the characters.

On the site Rotten Tomatoes the film obtained a 46% approval rating from critics based on 50 professional reviews, calling it "glacially slow and not at all eventful" (the site's critical consensus reads: "Meet Joe Black is beautiful to watch and benefits from a likable cast, but that's not enough to make up for the punishing three-hour running time of this sluggish drama."

Finally! I found the house Lewis Nixon grew up in Santa Barbara

His mother took the family to move to Santa Barbara in 1929, and bought a house in 1930. They lived in this house until at least 1946.  So Lewis Nixon lived here from 12 yr old to adulthood.

In the social notes, it’s frequently mentioned that their address was “180 Cold Spring Rd. Santa Barbara, CA”. However, if you search in google map, there’s no 180 Cold Spring Rd anymore, the house numbers all changed.

In 1930, Marguerite sold off the western portion of her property, leaving herself with approximately one acre on which Casa de Campo/Ravenscroft stands. By 1933, she and Geoffrey had parted ways. “

“The house featured a sweeping view of the valley, channel, and islands from the south and a mountain view from the north. The architect Russell Ray designed an H-shaped frame house clad with three-inch brick veneer for fireproofing. The two wings were connected by a staircase hall, and the living room comprised the whole of the west wing. The dining room, kitchen, and servants’ dining room lay in the east wing. Affected by the destruction of the San Francisco earthquake and fire, she was reassured by the numerous hydrants, hoses, and a nearby reservoir. The second floor contained four bedrooms, dressing rooms, three baths, and sleeping porches. A third story on the west wing contained bedrooms and baths for the maids. As far as landscaping, the orange grove was central, but the house would be embellished with a terrace across the front and a large pergola on the east. There was also a stable, male servants’ quarters, and, of course, a garage.”

Welcome to the photo dump for Episode 185: The 1933 Magenta Italy UFO Incident (The “First” Crashed UFO)! In 1933, an aircraft of unknown origin crashed in the small township of Magenta, Italy. At first suspecting it may be a failed launch from the German “Die Glocke” (anti-gravity experimental aircraft), Benito Mussolini’s best scientists and engineers raced to reverse engineer it. Ultimately they were unsuccessful, and after the Germans denied it was theirs, the axis realized they might have a flying saucer on their hands. When allied forces took back Italy in the mid-1940s, the Pope himself is rumored to have handed over the strange tech to the Americans. After being transported to Area 51 and then moved to a defense contractor’s warehouse, the remnants of the crashed vehicle are alleged to be the FIRST ever recovered UAP in the modern era. After years of rumors with no confirmation that this story was even true, both Lue Elizondo (former head of AATIP) and David Grusch (former intelligence officer turned whistleblower) have seemingly confirmed in recent years that this event really happened!
