Yeah okay so I've been meaning to draw something self-indulgent like this for a while, especially because these two do not make good bedfellows while they live rent-free in my head. (Doubly so since Stary has ruled the roost for almost 20 years)

In that 20-year history of being written and roleplayed, she's developed a severe phobia of hypnosis, mind control, and anything like that. Repeated encounters with individuals who have that capacity has traumatized her and made her mega mistrustful and fearful of yet more individuals going forward.

Baggs happens to be everything she's scared of rolled into one neat little skeleton-shaped package.

Suspicious doctor of dubious morality? Check Capacity to be a very real danger to her and/or to take her apart? Check Slippery as an oiled-up eel? Check? Aaaannndd masterfully commands her greatest fear? Double check.

Granted, he's good at keeping it under wraps until it's generally too late... But you don't always need to have someone under your spell to control them, do you? Fear and the threat are more than enough to keep someone so frightened in line.

It might take a while, but over time, they could build a mutual respect and then maybe some trust. But... not until she calms down a bit and he stops occasionally antagonizing her (because, let's face it, it's sometimes funny to watch someone squirm, and to also serve as a reminder to watch her step.) At the same time, being so feared isn't comforting, and so there's likely an extension of an offer to talk about these things rather than sit on them and let them color her experience with him.

I did this on my ipad which is why it isn't... as good as my other stuff. I don't have pen pressure and it throws me every time LOL ;A;

On that note: I'm probably not going to be very active on here for this last little bit of the year -- visiting family, but also it would probably do me good to spend less time online so I get some breathing room and work on myself a bit -- so I'll just do my little year in review post here. 2023 consisted of a few bright spots (graduated, gradually got back into reviewing music and subsequently produced one of maybe three pieces of writing I have made over the last few years that I am wholly confident is legitimately good, watched more movies) sticking out from a sea of just pure, pure shit. Other than those three things and the fact I'm still kicking, I really cannot think of a single point of pride from this year. Oh well! What can you do.

I do at least think 2024 is going to be better; I'm landing job interviews for without much difficulty, I have two trips to meet up with friends and go see concerts booked, and I do not think it is even possible that the family developments which have occurred this year happen again in the next 12 months. I have also gotten way worse at talking to my friends this year, which sucks but is fixable; the big thing to work on going forward is reaching out to folks a bit more, whether that's replying to things in a reasonable timespan, leaving comments on people's work, or just trying to chat more in general. The one single thing that has gotten me through the year is the knowledge that a non-insignificant people do care about me, and despite myself (and a few habits that have definitely gotten worse this year), they're people I know well enough that I've come to trust their judgements, so I think that only seems fair. If we're mutuals, I most likely owe you a great deal of thanks for the patience, kindness and understanding with everything this year. I assure you there will be less self-pitying next time around.

The funniest homophobia I ever experienced was a Mormon lady at my work telling me she would accept me being gay because we have to get along as coworkers but I really should consider not being gay because gay people have sex like animals (especially gay men) and she just couldn't stop thinking about it and how gross we are. She started really getting distressed, near tears, and saying 'I can't stop thinking about it. I can't stop." over and over and miming some kind of sex acts with her hands and I was like ?????? What is happening???? One of the other Mormon ladies had to come over and pat her on the back and help her sit down to help her calm down and our boss gave her the afternoon off due to being too upset to work.

It didn’t hit me until recently that people genuinely think Kamala Harris was a police officer because of all the people who call her a cop online.

Like I think maybe it’s important people should know she was a prosecutor. She was once a district attorney and later an attorney general for the state of California. And we can discuss how related that is to police work and how tied she is to the carceral system etc etc (but for fairness would have to include her record of pushing for lowering incarceration rates through programs helping former prisoners + her office refusing to jail folks for low level weed offense). But she was never a police officer. Like people should get that clear. Kamala Harris was never a police officer. She was a district attorney. She was never a police officer.
