#one of my local friends just messaged our little group about Hadestown coming to our area...#...in like ten months lol #and I had the delight of putting it on my calendar so I get to look forward to it all year #(our local show...art...theater...places have had pretty slim pickings this year honestly so this is nice)#I now have about ten months to come to grips with my self-inflicted trauma from one of the last shows I saw at this venue #let's do this #(one of those things where I SHOULD have been able to laugh it off but I was so mortified that it imprinted)#ANYWAY adulthood is funny #“y'all wanna see a show next February?” and we all shout “yes!”

like in an ideal world post-crisis canon would’ve progressed a few years — tim is now in his 20s (lol), damian is a teenager, and duke is an established character. i really like the hc that tim was dukes robin, so their ages reflect that. tim was emancipated at seventeen, when he stopped being robin. both steph and cass are older than tim. babs is at least five years older than dick because the retcon that they’re the same age makes my teeth itch. none of this “first true love” shit. they were friends as children and didn’t become romantically involved until their twenties. stop delegitimising all of babs and dicks other relationships!!!

idk how well it works time wise but i honestly don’t care too much about specifics? a pugnacious two year old timmy’s brain being permanently altered by the death of the graysons makes narrative sense to me. dick is fired as robin at seventeen (not a legal adult), which adds additional complexity to the situation with bruce. bruce is in his mid forties. that man has chronic back problems he is naht thirty six.

overall a very weird dw season to me. i really like the middle 4 episodes, and thought the first 2 and last 2 were okay-to-bad. for only 8 episodes 50/50 isn't a bad track record but i think the season arc and character drama doesn't land so the season is less than the sum of its parts. much better than chibnall era, still not on the level of s1-10 dw and probably my least favourite rtd series. and yet i have hope!! bring on season 2 i want to see varada sethu

#blahs #dw #in terms of rtd seasons i think s1 and s4 blow this out of the water spectacularly #series 3 has a similar ratio of episodes to me in that i remember liking about half of it and not really liking the other half #but the highs were higher for me and as flawed as the tenmartha conflict might've been at least it like. existed lol #martha felt more defined than ruby as a character and had a more interesting push and pull with ten #so i think it came together a bit more?? though last of the time lords is my other least favourite rtd finale #and s2 i don't love either but i think it's consistently decent and sometimes great and again just does character better #even though imo tenrose largely rides the coattails of ninerose it still builds to a solid tragic conclusion based on their bond #like e.g. sarah jane as classic companion is deployed with much more precision than mel in this season #in terms of how she contributes to the character/story arc happening with tenrose about inevitable separation/abandonment #ANYWAY this is a massive tangent my point is i miss the character drama :( as i have been saying for the last 2 months :(

shoutout to the time i was making out with this guy and then we stopped making out and i was like “hey do you want to hear me explain this really convoluted series of concept albums that has mass amounts of lore” and for SOME REASON he wanted to listen me talk about that so i proceeded to explain every paul shapera album through secret series (because that was all i had listened to at that point) PLUS the extended postie lore. i don’t know how he was still attracted to me after that.
