No cause Jancy did go a little crazy for going to a funeral, stealing a gun, having target practice bonding time, getting into a fight, finding a dying deer, getting whisked away to an alternate dimension, finding each other, being pulled out of the alternate dimension, going home, taking a shower and then have a slumber party.
ALL IN 24 HOURS

Another thing about the lameness of Apocalypse World being the result of "Mary's choice" is that it gives too much weight to Azazel's deal. That demon spent a lot of energy finding his "special children" and had never even noticed Mary before Dean's interference.
Interference that happened because Castiel made Dean travel through time and told him he had to "stop it" just to show him that it wasn't possible. Of course Cas didn't know, back then, about angels basically acting as and for Chuck by manipulating people, time and events for their own benefit. Still, you have to wonder after "In the beginning" whether Cas actually realizes what he has done.
Whether Mary deals with Azazel or not doesn't matter because of the bloodlines. The only difference is that if she said no an angel would fly in, resurrect John and wipe out their memories. Just like Zachariah and Michael tell Dean in S5.
The whole thing about demon blood as necessary in order to be Lucifer's vessel is just there for effect, I think, because neither Dean nor Adam need to be "primed" to be Michael's true vessel who, apparently, is even more powerful than Lucifer. Or, I don't know, to me that doesn't track at all but I might be missing something. I mean, it kinda shows how Kripke was tired of the "special children" plotline but, yk, the awkward, giant elephant in the room is that the foundation of the show is Sam and demon blood so... they had to justify it in some way, I think. But, again, I might miss something here.
The real importance of Azazel's deal is that it highlights Mary's complete loneliness in the world: in an instant her parent and her fiancé are dead. She deals because she bargains her otherwise horrible present (which is still horrible, tbh) for an unspecified future (which she craves. a lot. we've been told. multiple times that she wants to "escape" her current life). The tragedy is precisely that she doesn't know that she's specifically damning Sam's future in the process.
The real, real tragedy, however, is that she has no choice, whatever she does, SHE will always end up there. Because Mary and John are just "placeholders". The angels are basically just waiting for the demons to do the hard and dirty work while, they think, they just have to manipulate low ranking angels and get Dean's consent. Precisely the two things that fuck them in the end because Castiel rebels and Dean doesn't consent.
The other thing about Azazel's deal is that he doesn't need permission to enter Mary's house, that's just an excuse because of the "red tape". He has to bend the rules of the natural order and, in order to do so, he needs to make a deal. His deals are basically asking people to sign and date a blank sheet which is, obvs, a super manipulation, but, because people accept that, the deals "respect" the rules. It's absolutely unfair considering that this seems to apply only to humans while angels bend even the rules of time as they please with no consequences (well... actually, "what goes around comes around" and they will almost all be wiped out, lol).
The tragedy in the tragedy of the tragedy is that Dean understands that's about the souls. "In the beginning" makes a point of telling us that's not about that but I don't think it's true. Yes, Azazel won't come knocking in ten years with his hellhounds but he's bargaining a soul for a soul. Liddy's husband, if Azazel had managed to deal, wouldn't have died; Charlie's father would have lived; John would have died etc. So, in this episode at least because I don't remember the parents of the other special children tbh, Azazel is exchanging the life or death of 1 parent with the future of 1 of their children. At the end of the day, this is what the deal is about: it's a 1 for 1. This is also why he can't resurrect Mary's parents. Well, because he doesn't care, obviously, but because he doesn't have to: John's resurrection for Sam's future (which Mary has no idea about and neither does Azazel, he's also signing a blank sheet).
And this is so interesting because demons must follow the rules but angels don't because they are SO certain that they will end Time. They think they will put an end to everything and finally have their "paradise". When it doesn't come to pass, when the end doesn't arrive as promised, everybody has to face the consequences of their actions.

i cant watch the tsunami eps 😭 ive only watched it once and then skipped one or both eps on the 2nd rewatch. it was so stressful!!!! i knew christopher was gonna be ok - the joys of watching the whole show years after the air dates - but it was still so fucking stressful!
however in revisiting the source material (3x01):
i literally *just* realised bobby was lying through his teeth telling buck that "chief alonso" and "the department" are concerned about "liability issues" - not that he was wrong to be worried because buck was cleared and recertified and then he coughed up blood and passed out and what he said that the doctors don't know what's causing the clots + buck being on blood thinners = yeah, you shouldn't be putting yourself in risky situations. which. is the whole job.
and i also just realised buck quit because bobby said he would only ever be cleared for light duty. i honestly thought buck was wrong to quit instead of waiting until his health issues got sorted. even if it had already been 5 months since has was on medical leave. see aforementioned coughing up blood and passing out. but bobby wanting to bench him FOREVER? because of *his* own personal issues? real "i made a mistake so im putting my kid under lock and key so they dont make the mistake" energy of overprotective parents.
and you know what you could do if you believe your subordinate and/or "son" is putting too much focus on his job and not enough on outside-of-work life? send him to ✨ counselling ✨ (hey, he has the authority to issue department mandated therapy like he did for eddie in s5, no?) go learn all about work life balance, buck. so. big L for bobby, tbh. maybe he should go to some self-mandated counselling too, huh?
AND THEN. BUCK SURVIVES A WHOLE ASS TSUNAMI. SAVES HIMSELF + KEEPS CHRISTOPHER SAFE (before the second wave hits iirc?) + SAVES A BUNCH OF OTHER PEOPLE. and bobby sees all that and still doesn't budge? like. he's clearly alright.
speaking of people too lost in their own issues to sympathise with buck who's going through a fucking rough period: *side eyes eddie* (even though dragging buck out of bed and sending him off with christopher is one of the most genius moves. need me a freak like that when im in the depression pit 😔) (but then saying "[christopher] never feels sorry for himself" eddie im gonna bonk you on the head with a newspaper)
i don't understand how i missed a lot of these little details. i feel like i definitely sympathise with buck a lot more now. he was basically told that his options are desk duty or nothing? instead of "desk duty until you are cleared by the doctors" which is obviously necessary for new symptoms. and the fact that someone he trusts so much was responsible for the fact that he lost his job. that would have hurt.

I'm gonna keep it 300: Once I realized that byler v mlvn (at least in canon) was never a competition of "ships" or even heteronormativity versus queer rep but a conversation about thematic points being made by the duffers, I ceased feeling any real doubt about the outcome of this segment of the intertwined character narratives.
Why? Because The Duffers (while notoriously mum about their plotlines and twists) are vocal as hell about what they value & what "lessons" they're trying to drive home.
With The Duffers (unlike a lot of TV writers today) its "find the thematic line and you find the endgame plot." That's literally it. And tbh, even if I was someone who couldn't stand byler for whatever reason, from a narrative theme perspective, its pretty clear that
"15 year old boy who both longs for and fears the consequences of nonconformity finds the bravery to get out of a relationship that fuels those insecurities while leaning into his relationship with his fellow-nonconforming best friend"
tracks more with The Duffers value system than
"boy and his superhero love interest spend their 5th consecutive season barely seeing eye to eye on interests and problem-solving while relying on other people who know them better than they know each other to fix their relationship before dramatically separating and coming back in a melodramatic flourish."
Like. I don't even need to do more mental work than that to understand whats happening with this part of the story, because after 7 entire years of watching the rest of the show, its clear they'e written Mike and El into the same corner that's broken up every other dysfunctional relationship in Stranger Things, from Stncy to Joyce and Bob: a lack of common interest and a lack of common goals.
When you look at that, and combine it w/ any knowledge of the—
"What's wrong with playing DnD as an adult" "we are nerds and children at heart" "we hated HS & did other people's assignments to stay relevant" "one of us married a fellow horror fan who shares our interests (Ross) and the other has decided not to officially partner (Matt)"
—Duffer Brothers? lmao.
The only snag I ever hit trying to understand that was the S3 tone shift...and even they admit that was their narrative "play" season, which (however you feel about that as a writing decision) says every single thing about what's gonna happen when things get "more serious" (while moving back to S1 energy) in S5. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'm not the anon who asked you about Millie but I wanted to add a comment... Millie said something about how she couldn't wait for ST to end because it was preventing her from working on other things and rumor has it people affiliated with the show were upset with her. I don't think this slashed her screen time. I don't think El is a main character the way the fandom makes her out to be. She isn't the focus of the show so I think this was always going to happen. But I think Millie said that because El wasn't the focus and she was forced to realize that by the time S5 came around and was annoyed about it.
I find it interesting that she is getting paid more than anyone else even though she is barely in next season. It makes me wonder if they paid her so that she wouldn't say more dumb shit in interviews when she is promoting the show. I get the impression she likes to be the star and the center of everything and never had a good grasp of what the show was about. Also from the little I have heard about her parents they seem to think she is the greatest actress of all time but she isn't actually better than anyone else in the cast. I think it messed with her head. She didn't make the show what it is. Millie just strikes me as someone who needs to be front and center and sounds kind of hard to get along with tbh. I don't get the impression she gets along with most of the cast either. She let the fans (particularly younger fans) convince her she was the lead when she wasn't and then got annoyed when the story started wrapping up and she wasn't in focus so she said a dumb thing. But I doubt the writers would be petty enough to cut her screen time because of it (she says a lot of questionable things in interviews that make me wonder how well she is following the show. And is also really rude to Finn a lot). Will was always the focus of the story regardless of what Millie does.
bestie. bestie,
i have to agree and disagree lol i get why people would feel that way about millie but idk if you’ve seen my previous asks about millie’s family but i tend to blame her parents. i don’t think there’s anything wrong with a little girl being confident and while i don’t know how she felt about everything she’s been through growing up, it’s obvious her parents inflated her… idk, i don’t want to say ego because i feel like that’s a weird thing to say about children in general? but it’s possible she thought she was important and the main focus of the show. — otoh, i don’t like how she started to feel small for talking ~too much~ during press bc she spoke the same amount as the boys. it’s giving misogyny. especially when sadie joined the cast and people are like omg why can’t millie be classy and demure like sadie… what 😭 i thought millie had great energy as a kid and while she’s definitely still extroverted like her bestie noah, she seems like she has to be composed… although she’s been coming out of her shell more since getting engaged. i hope that means she has more self agency and isn’t being controlled by her family, but at the same time, they’re always around her even nowadays. THEY LIVE NEXT DOOR. and it seems like millie is stuck with netflix for a while longer. idk much about the electric state but it’s supposed to have potential for a great adaption and to perform well at box office, but it’s being released on netflix?? all because daddy brown says so. fock that grifting loser.
i understand why millie is ready to move on from ST but i don’t think she meant it in a negative way, she’s just ready to grow up. she’s married now so it must be weird to be portraying a character who is 14-17, or however old el is supposed to be in s5. when people gave her shit for saying she doesn’t watch movies, i don’t exactly blame her. she was pretty much forced into the acting industry and yeah, she obviously enjoyed it for a while before reality caught up with her. i believe she’s fond of the show, if her 011 tattoo is anything to go by, but it must be a reminder that she only got famous because her dad is jobless and wanted to get rich quick after all his other schemes and business ventures flopped. he’s also the reason millie gets paid more than the rest of the kids. he’s such a scrub 😭
how is millie rude to finn btw?
thenks for sending this btw, i hope i’m not coming across as harsh or angry lmao idk why because i’m a very different person but i can relate to millie and feel angry on her behalf because her relatives are an absolute shower of cunts and idek if she’s aware of it … but i also get why some people find her off putting. as long as they don’t go too far fjfjsk cos she’s not that awful, surely.

【Honkai: Star Rail Build TLDR】
❈ Yukong
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are two ways to build Yukong. It is dependent which you prioritize more: DMG from Yukong herself or her survivability. This would dictate what relic sets you'll use on her. She'll still be able to buff your team in either build.
Tumblr media
For Sub-DPS Build (Recommended!)
Cavern Relic Sets (Choose either one 4pc or 2pc+2pc)
Wastelander of Banditry Desert
Musketeer of Wild Wheat
Messenger Traversing Hackerspace
Planar Ornament Sets (Choose 1 set)
Inert Salsotto
Space Sealing Station
** DMG% difference of each relic pairs could be found at bottom of this post.
Main Stats → Head = HP (constant) → Hand = ATK (constant) → Body = Crit Rate/DMG → Feet = SPD → Sphere = Imaginary DMG% → Rope = Energy Regeneration Rate (ERR)
Sub Stats → SPD → Crit Rate/DMG (dmg build)
Tumblr media
For Tanky Buffer Build
[Relic Set 1 = to keep her squishy HP safe] → 4pc Guard of Wuthering Snow → 2pc Fleet of the Ageless
[Relic Set 2 = more basic ATK DMG, gets SPD to self] → 4pc Musketeer of Wild Wheat → 2pc Fleet of the Ageless
Main Stats → Head = HP (constant) → Hand = ATK (constant) → Body = HP% → Feet = SPD → Sphere = HP% → Rope = Energy Regeneration Rate (ERR)
Sub Stats → SPD → HP% (tank build)
Tumblr media
Things to Consider
➤ If E0 to E1, rotation would be: → using S2 Memories LC + ERR rope, use 2 skill + 1 basic (SP-negative) → using any harmony LC + ERR rope, use 3 skill (SP-negative) → using any harmony LC + ERR rope, use 2 skill + 2 basic (SP-neutral)
➤ If E2+, rotation would be: → using S2 Memories LC + ATK% rope, use 3 skill (SP-negative) → using any harmony LC + ERR rope, use 2 skill + 1 basic (SP-negative)
** The highlighted ones are the recommended rotations for Yukong.
➤ If using Sub-DPS build, get at least 50 crit rate & 100 crit dmg on her.
➤ Optional: Build her with 120+ SPD to get the atk buff from Fleet of the Ageless set effect.
Things to Remember
➤ She needs speed-tuning in her build. This means her SPD should consider the next two allies who'll come next after her in the action order.
** Image from MrPokke's HSR CN Analysis Sheet. Link below this post.
Tumblr media
➤ Her buffs work on the allies after her turn in the turn order. This means that her buffs won't lock into a specific ally, unlike what Tingyun buffs would normally do.
➤ The game considers that her buffs in skill/ultimate isn't buffing an ally, she is buffing herself instead. This means she won't proc Bronya's Sig LC effect of recovering 1 SP nor Danheng's Talent.
➤ Roaring Bowstring is not consumed by follow-up attacks, Ultimates and Seele's resurgence. Only consumed with basic attacks and skills.
➤ Use her basic attacks in between skills. This will make her return the SP she used.
➤ If using Sub-DPS build, most of her dmg comes from her ultimate.
➤ If using Fleet of Ageless on her, get at least 121 speed on her.
Tumblr media
Speed Values (from OkCode)
** Assuming your DPS has 134 SPD, your Yukong SPD should be:
if DPS is erudition/destruction/nihility unit: 135+ SPD
if DPS is any other hunt unit: 155+ SPD
if DPS is Seele: 161 SPD to outspeed her specifically
** Adjust accordingly your Yukong's SPD depending on the SPD of your DPS.
Tumblr media
Lightcones
* Lightcone list is from Prydwen Yukong Guide. Link below in the post. (They did the calcs, so now we have the weapon rankings.)
Sub-DPS Build
Memories of Past 4☆ [S1]
Meshing Cogs 3☆ [S5]
Buffer Support Build
Past and Future 4☆ [S5]
But the Battle Isn't Over 5☆ [S1]
Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds 4☆ [S1]
Dance! Dance! Dance! 4☆ [S1]
Planetary Rendezvous 4☆ [S1] (for mono imaginary teams)
Tumblr media
Additional Block of Text Below
(Tbh, I just copy-pasted this from the Asta build TLDR I posted before this one. Lmao. Most harmony units practically have similar builds.)
4pc Messenger Traversing Hackerspace is the most recommended set for buffers and debuffers where their ultimate is directed at their allies. Unfortunately, Yukong isn't one of them, since her Ultimate is directed at the enemies instead of her allies, which you can see in this GIF below. But, you could still use the 2pc set if you are in need of +6 SPD on her.
Tumblr media
4pc Musketeer of Wild Wheat is still the recommended set for Yukong despite the release of the Messenger Traversing Hackerspace set in patch 1.2.
4pc Guard of Wuthering Snow is another niche build to use on your harmony units. This is to ensure that they'll be able to lessen the DMG from enemy hits, especially, for some reason, enemies like to hit the harmony units more than the preservation units themselves. I'm looking at you, Tingyun. Also, what's with the foxian beauties that keeps on aggroing the enemies to hit them instead?
In this build TLDR, I recommend 2pc Fleet of Ageless set more than 2pc Sprightly Vonwacq. This is to give more buffing utility on the unit, than just to ensure the ult uptime of the said unit. The rotations listed above are fit to Fleet set more.
** Broken Keel & Fleet of Ageless for support usage is explained here.
— DMG Calculation Difference —
Since she has the potential to be sub-DPS due to having high multipliers in her ultimate, I created a mini dmg calc below just to know how much dmg% difference using the sub-DPS build would differ with the tank support build. Do note that the numbers I've gotten are just theoretical values since I didn't test it in the game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tldr: There's ~40% dmg difference between the highest dmg sub-DPS build and the lowest dmg tank support build.

What are some of ur other favorite ST ships canon or not? 💕
Hi!!! I'm assuming by 'other' you mean apart from byler lol :))
LUMAX‼️‼️ they are probably my 2nd fave st ship after byler tbh.
Jancy. I think that they're going going break up early s5 and be broken up the entire timeskip before getting back together post timeskip, which I think they both need but they also both love eachother so I can't wait to see that!!!
Rockie/Rovickie. I feel like I'm going to grow to love this one because it hasn't had much screentime yet but the vibes are cute already.
Creelarke lmao they were 100% friends when they were younger and honestly they would have been really sweet, I hope we get to see some of them in the play.
Elmax I also love, the vibes are fantastic, but I equally love their friendship lol.
Elumax is a great dynamic and I can never decide whether or not El and Lucas are dating or not.
Jargyle!!!!!!! I actually love Jargyle and I'm so glad that Jonathan actually got his first friend that wasn't his younger brother or gf lol and I'm also glad he got to relax for once in his life, Argyle was my favourite addition to s4. Them being stoner bfs would have such great vibes.
Ronance I love them so much and their scenes in s4 together were so great, their dynamic was everything and I hope to see them more in s5 and I think we will. With the whole ronance, jancy, stncy and single Nancy debate, I think that anything but stncy would be great and it depends more on how the Duffers pull it off.
Stonathan and Henderhop have great "in another life" energy.
And Byclair holds a special place in my heart.
Thanks for the ask!!! <333

Kurt Glee Rewatch: The Power of Madonna
I know it’s not a major Kurt ep, but I just love him and Mercedes here omg. Lowkey one of my fav Glee songs...
Tumblr media
Lowkey the first time is hype about the assignment and Will didn’t even come up with it... classic.
Also I need to convey how much I love his hoodie (esp with the hat, prob so hood doesn’t fall down). I wish we got to see it again! Kurt has some pieces he wears a lot (black boots, white pants, this grey shirt w a white collar), but then there are outfits that appear once and then... never again.
Tumblr media
Love that he dances along, the only one truly appreciating the performance. This is why Kurt hangs out with the girls, gosh. Like dudes, even with your prejudice, can’t you appreciate an absolute bop???
But also bc Kurt in same hoodie... this is the same day. When did the girls do the costume change and practice? I love glee logic lol.
Tumblr media
Another great look, lowkey love him in turtlenecks. And I love Kurtcedes s1! Do we ever see Kurt do film ever again? Bc this talent came outta nowhere? I guess there’s sorta the music video at Vogue when he gives Rachel a makeover? Would be fun if we saw more of it.
And yay, the start of Kurt and Sue’s super weird friendship. I find it sweet that even after everything, Kurtcedes still has sympathy for her. Even though she then goes to throw students around... and Kurtcedes is unfazed... what is this school.
Tumblr media
He’s so hurt that Sue couldn’t keep up with fashion trends... a true travesty.
“Mercedes is black, I’m gay. We make culture” I love it.
I legit love the Kurt and Sue dynamic. I’m sure part of this was them wanting the Cheerios for their video, but he also wants to help. I think Kurt respects Sue, but doesn’t agree with her methods. And he def sees the humanity in her, here and in Funeral.
And Sue def has sympathy for Kurt and I think she does respect him on some level. He has that more snarky side and like. He also has no affection for Schue.
Tumblr media
First off, Chris Colfer looks so good in vintage style/black and white. You can often see Kurt’s influence of old Hollywood and it just fits. It’s why I get so annoyed when there are jokes/comments of Kurt wearing ridiculous/girly stuff bc it seems like the other characters treat him like a more camp-y gay and that’s not really his style? He’s so into fashion and he prefers a more sophisticated look.
But anyway, I’m so curious about the behind the scenes of this vid. I’m assuming Sue paid for it bc it looks v extra. But also just... how they styled everything etc. I can’t imagine that Sue is easy to work with.
Tumblr media
Ooh, another vintage-y look. Very detective-vibes.
Also, even tho the Kurt-Sue friendship is starting, she still keeps him on the list she gives to Figgins lol. She wants all them glee kids gone. Or maybe she thinks that Kurt would actually mange to make it in a new city with 5 bucks lol.
And then.... then we get... Cheerio!Kurt!!!
Tumblr media
First I need to point out a rare Quinn/Kurt interaction! And if you watch them in the background, you can see Kurt (but really Chris tbh) playing with the hat, puts it on Quinn’s head for a second. I love it. Wish we had more of them in canon.
Tumblr media
I will gush forever about cheerio!Kurt. I loved football!Kurt too and wish we got more eps, but omg him as a cheerio is everything. I’m happy he was a cheerio for a while (tho I wish we got to see another performance, esp the Celine Dion medley). ANd omg why wasn’t he on the team longer?? I guess tricky s2 with his transfer, but s3?? When he needs stuff for his application? And ugh, I just wanted more.
And I’m so happy he and Mercedes joined bc they prob felt so useless in glee. At least Mercedes gets some of the belt-notes? But Kurt is just background. This is his first song since Wheels (second in the season) and he’s already improved so much? I love when they let him sing in his lower tones, he sounds so good. And he’s such a performer, all the energy.
I wish we got more Kurtcedes duets. I just... they’re so great. And the only other one is in s5 and tbh not a fan of that one. This is just.. I love it! Esp as Mercedes’ voice is amazing, but in Glee they don’t always have her perform so much? Like, she had Bust Your WIndows but after that they have her as the ‘park and bark’ character? But pair her with Kurt, who was a born performer, and it’s amazing. Plus their chemistry, and they hype each other up, it’s so great.
Esp compared to Wheels! And his audition! That awk kid standing still and singing? Gone. He’s having so much fun and you can see that here is where he is truly confident as a performer. And this song is just so fun, esp with everyone’s reactions in the crowd (I love how happy Quinn is for them).
Tbh Will has no reason to be mad. He has other cheerios in glee. And they aren’t leaving the club. Plus, even after they do this and have repeatedly voiced their opinions on wanting to perform, he still never gives them a real chance to perform. I just- Ugh he angers me so much.
Tumblr media
Part of me just has this pic bc I love his outfit here (and we never see it again).
Love that he’s included in this, even tho he hasn’t been doing much sexist stuff? But hey, why miss out on chance to sing Madonna? And he can speak out as the ‘honorary girl’ and call out the others. Love that he makes sure Will admits his faults lol
Tumblr media
No but they’re so cute, honestly.
Yay, Kurt got a line here. They had him do that higher register tho, which isn’t as refined... but at least it’s something
Not gonna lie, anytime I hear this song it makes me think of the comic Check Please bc in the Locker Room guide, the characters sing this in the background lol

every new interview i have seen of the stranger things cast or the duffers in the past month has something that is alluding to byler being canon. everyone can have whatever thoughts they want, but at this point i actually do believe everything we’ve been saying is true and if it ends up not being true, then i’ll have to deal with my own disappointment. but i have tbh i don’t think i will end up being disappointed.
there’s just something about the casts’ reactions to byler or will’s feelings while promoting s4 that seem too giddy. i’m sorry but there’s no way that any of these people would feel that way if will ends up sad and alone, especially with the van scene being very emotional and will expressing feelings that are very vulnerable that a lot of people can relate to. you really think they’d be giddy about a gay character expressing that he feels like a mistake and that the boy who he is in love with doesn’t make him feel like he’s different, only for that same boy to reject him? no way.
we also have finn and noah doing no promo together when all their scenes are TOGETHER. they have some very emotional scenes too. like wouldn’t it be reasonable to put these two cast mates together in an interview to talk about the airport scene, the rink o’mania scene, the “cool” “cool” scene, the “it’s hard to tell the truth” scene, the van scene, i mean ESPECIALLY the van scene. i’m thinking they aren’t really talking about it because if they do then that will require finn to answer as to why mike has been acting the way he has which will then give away that mike is repressed and has feelings for will. and if the duffers are writing this correctly, then they’re going to want s5 to be the season that gives the audience true insight into mike and how they’ve been building byler up from the beginning.
it’s been said that they filmed the van scene multiple times and wanted different angles of it. if you’re wanting a scene to be excellent and a pivotal moment in the storytelling then you’re going to want multiple versions of it. it’s noah’s moment. he’s the one talking. he’s the one having to act verbally and physically, whereas finn’s job was just to react physically. we’ve been analyzing his facial expressions in that scene and we all agree that something is definitely going through mike’s mind. they needed this scene to be executed a certain way, not only because it was an important emotional moment for will’s character, but because it’s also telling us something about mike’s character. just like they had to show jonathan’s pov through the rear-view mirror to lead to him and will’s convo at the pizza shop, they were showing specific reactions of mike to tell us something in that moment that is going to lead to byler in s5. the duffers are on a budget and a time schedule they’re not going to film scenes multiple times just for the hell of it.
when it comes to mike’s monologue to el, they let finn improvise. an actor improvising isn’t uncommon, but i do know from watching interviews of directors and casts, that when they want a scene to be telling something very specific that they usually rehearse it, stick to the script, and have multiple versions of it. yes, an actor can still improvise and it be used in the final cut, but only if it makes the scene even better and is still telling that very specific thing the director is wanting. i think if the duffers wanted this monologue to be the biggest development in mikeven’s relationship and tell the audience this is it. this is the couple that’s been through their trials and tribulations, but now it’s known they love each other and we’re not going to include anymore conflict that doubts their relationship, then it would’ve been given the same energy as the van scene. but it wasn’t. most people, regardless of what they ship, picked up on the fact that mike’s monologue seems off. if the duffers didn’t like what finn improvised because it was saying something other than what needed to be said in that moment about mikeven’s relationship, then they would’ve just used a cut of him sticking to the script or had him reshoot, but no they used finn’s improvised dialogue which had the audience questioning if mike really does love el. the season starts off with the audience not knowing why mike can’t tell el he loves her, but then we’re ending the season still unsure if he loves her? why is that? WELL, i think i know!
there’s just so much that goes into creating a tv show or film. we’ve seen the interviews of costume designers adding details that say something specifically about the character. we know set designers create the set to tell something about the storyline or if for example, it’s a character’s bedroom then they’re going to put details that tell something about the character. we know composers create the score by reading the script and viewing certain scenes. you aren’t only learning about a character through their dialogue. you are learning about them through their body language, their environment, their interactions with other characters, their clothes, and even the very technical things such as the lighting, coloring, angles, placements of the actors, the score…
also, we know the duffers went through multiple versions of the painting. i truly believe the painting played its role in s4, but will be coming back in s5 because mike is going to find out the truth about it and that will begin his journey of self-acceptance and fully coming to terms with the fact that he loves will. if the painting wasn’t important, then why waste an artist’s time by having them create multiple versions of it when will could’ve said what he said without it? i honestly don’t think the painting was necessary in the van scene if we aren’t getting byler, but if we’re getting byler, then hell yeah that painting is super important!
i’m just saying this show has a script, directors, directors directing the actors using the script, gets edited by editors, gets the edit reviewed by the directors and producers before deciding on a final cut. if theres’s all these details we’ve noticed, which i’m not going to list because there’s too many, but if we noticed them then just think about how all of that was included and agreed on by multiple people while filming the show and editing it into a final cut. you think all these people revising stranger things before releasing it are looking at mike and will’s scenes not seeing what we’re seeing? no freaking way. everything is there and shown the way it is because byler is canon in s5. i’m sure of it.

Literally no one cares but I need to put the vision into words otherwise it'll eat me up. So.
I've been listening to The Ballad of Jane Doe on repeat lately (it scratches so many brain itches) and I can't help but think about what it might be like if it had been a pseudo-duet between Jane and John Doe (ignoring the plot of Ride The Cyclone, of course, singling the song out as a stand-alone song).
Thinking about the lyrics as an emotional dialogue of sorts, where Jane is monologuing to John, and John is non-verbally monologuing back to her (and us) through his expressions, thoughts, and actions.
Jane and John speaking to each other that way. Jane who can't remember who she is lamenting her amnesia to John, who she can't remember and who can't remember her either. Jane and John, who each know the other is important to them, but can't figure out why. Jane and John, drawn by gravity alone. Jane, pleading for her memories back, begging John to remember something, anything, because it feels like he should. John, lamenting that he doesn't remember her even though it feels like he should.
And of course this makes me want to craft a theory about s5 (just for my own fun tbh). It combines the "Will is being erased from the memory of every person who knows him/loves him" birthdaygate theory with s2 Will's memory loss during his possession.
I have a ficlet of sorts written about it below. it's kind of messy, and I'll be polishing it up a bit later and sticking it on ao3 for shits and giggles but...If you want to read my cringefail writing now, you are more than welcome to it.
but like y'know. if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. thanks!
Say we've got Will, wiped out by Henry, his memories either completely erased or completely hidden from him so that he no longer resists Henry. This happens in a major burst of energy emitted from the Upside Down, a shockwave of mental force from Henry. Will is locked out of his own memories. He's simultaneously wiped out of the memories of everyone who ever knew him and who happened to be in the blast radius...but ONLY the memories occurring AFTER his funeral in 1983. Will Byers existed once, but not anymore. Not since November 1983, certainly not in 1988.
In light of that, we have Will and the Party, who were investigating the Rifts as a team, being hit by Henry's blast and subsequently waking up together. It's El in the woods all over again. Mike, Lucas, and Dustin can't just leave this bewildered and clueless boy out in the semi-Upisde-Down wilderness alone, so they take him home, hoping someone will recognize him.
(I'm highlighting his "name" because it just feels so wrong to call Will by a different name without constantly reminding everyone that that's not his real name)
No one recognizes him, of course, and evidently even he doesn't know who he is. So, he becomes John. John Doe. The name fits like a shirt one size too small, a scarf wrapped too tightly. It's not like he knows any better, though. So...John it is.
History repeats itself. Something about this boy reminds Mike of his "dead" best friend (who, if we're being honest, he never really believed was dead). He doesn't tell John about Will, but he offers an olive branch, brings John one of the (slightly stale) bags of chips the group had stockpiled for special occasions. They talk, and the feeling that they should know each other grows. Mike sticks himself to John's side like a burr. For John, it feels like coming home, like a warm fire in the winter. For Mike, it feels like he know this boy, like reading a book you once read as a child, like a memory half-forgotten. It can't last.
John is struggling with this pattern of knowing things (like the fact that he loves Mike, that he'd give anything to stay by Mike's side) while being unable to understand why outside of "it feels right". Mike, meanwhile, is facing criticism for what the Party perceives as him trying to make John fill the Will-shaped hole that was torn in his life 5 years ago, without ever actually telling John about Will (maybe they're on to something there. Mike would never admit it, though). Mike begins to distance himself, and he doesn't tell John why. John notices, of course. He pushes it away, it's not like he even really knows Mike anyway. The tension and confusion can only grow so much before something gives.
(This bit is the scene I was thinking about, the beginning bit is just for context and backstory.)
Then one day in early November 1988, John feels a pull to the UD. He doesn't question it. Why should he? He marches himself right through a gate to pursue it. Mike can't lose this boy, his almost-Will, too. He chases after him, and the gate closes, locking them both in the Upside-Down alone.
While searching for the source of the pull, there's nothing to do but talk. Well, quietly regard each other and wait for the other person to speak.
John breaks first. He asks Mike, theorizes if this pull he feels coming from the hellscape is his soul. Where is his soul? Is it here, rotting alongside Hawkins? No soul, and no name, he laments. He feels like an imposter, a sham. Is he even a person at all? Was he ever a person? With no one to tell him, and no way of remembering on his own, he feels like a shell at best. Like the label "person" doesn't belong to him.
Mike watches and listens as he continues, quietly, sadly trailing just behind John. He tamps down the part of him that wants to swoop in and label him as Will, the part that wants to assign anything that ever was Will to this blank slate of a boy. It would be so easy for Mike to say "Wait, I know you! You're Will Byers!" and fill the gap for them both. If he didn't have to contend with the Party (and the Byers family, whose son/brother is still dead, for fucks sake), he would do it in a heartbeat. He would have Will back, in a sense. He would spend eternity loathing himself for it, for imposing Will on this boy (for betraying Will). He doesn't think he'd regret it, though, and if he thinks about it hard enough...he doesn't really think Will (perfect, angelic Will, too good, taken too soon, has it really been 5 yea--) would hold it against him either.
John turns to Mike, visibly upset. He tells Mike that he feels like Mike should know something, that maybe he does know something, that maybe he's just refusing to say it.
"Why won't you just tell me who I am?" he questions, "Shouldn't you know? You should know me, Mike. You and I...We feel like an old song, one that someone heard on the radio once and almost forgot, but not just yet. One that's going to keep lingering until we figure out what it is. Only us. You and me, forever, eternally, John and," he gestures vaguely at Mike, "Jane Doe."
John immediately realizes the implications of his words. He turns away, heart stuttering in his chest. He didn't mean for it to be so obvious. The way it sounded. The way he feels, the things he wants. The way Mike might take it, like he's saying they're soulmates or something. The way he maybe, kind of (totally) meant it. He turns his frustration towards the situation, but his ranting is still directed at the only other person present: Mike.
"I just want to know why, Mike. I mean...If this is how I die, Mike...Why be left with no family and no friends? If I die here, I'll get no celebration, just the consolation that time will eat us all in the end. If I died...who would care? And whatever this," he gestures between them, "is? It'll be just another sad, forgotten song that no one knows. That's just how it goes! Just 'Jane' and me, forever, eternally, John fucking Doe!"
Mike winces as John's voice rings out in the empty street, his desperation and frustration echoing into the spore-riddled air. He places a hand on John's shoulder, and John turns to him, refusing to meet his eyes. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled. I just...I clearly lived in Hawkins. Isn't there anyone who can tell me who I am?" John's voice drops to a whisper. "Does no one care?"
Mike can do nothing but surrender to the urge to pull John in for a hug, trying to convey how much he cares. He can feel John's shoulders shaking with silent sobs and pulls back just enough to tip John's face up by the chin, staring directly into his teary eyes. Mike brushes a thumb across a grimy tear track and abruptly notices how close their faces are. They've been in the Upside Down for two full days now. They're filthy. He doesn't care.
"You must think I'm crazy. I sound crazy," John murmurs, breaking their eye-contact to stare blankly at a button on Mike's shirt.
Mike's breath catches, and he immediately shakes his head, still cupping John's cheek. He replies in the gentlest of tones, "No. No, no, no. I would care. I do care. You're not crazy, John, but even if you were...Well, we'd go crazy together, then."
John's eyes snap up to Mike's, the hazel meeting mahogany in a moment of glorious recognition. He's heard that before. Someone said it to him once. Someone he loved, someone who meant the world to him. Someone who...loved him, perhaps. A hazy picture forms in his mind, a boy in a tan jumpsuit with a dark hair and dark eyes, freckles splashed across his sloping nose.
"Crazy...together," he whispers, processing the words, how they feel in his mouth. They're still only inches apart. John can feel Mike's breath on his face. That boy couldn't be anyone but Mike. John is certain of it; he's never been more certain of anything.
"It's you. I know you, Mike. I know you. I...I remember you. It can't be anyone but you," John chokes out, barely audible, his voice thick with tears and wonder as the memory sharpens.
Mike stares at John, eyes alight in equal parts confusion and intrigue. "It...can't be anyone but me? You remember me? You mean..." He trails off, mind whirring as he attempts to catch the thread connecting John's statements.
"Mike. A tan jumpsuit, 'Venkman' stitched into the upper left side. In your basement. You said we'd go crazy together," John chuckles wetly, shaking his head, "It couldn't have been anyone but you. It could never be anyone but you."
Mike knows he's missing something, a vital piece of the puzzle. His eyes dart across John's tear-streaked face, brows furrowed as he searches desperately for a clue.
Then John smiles at him. It's a small, delicate thing, filled with nothing but adoration. That's his smile, Mike thinks offhand. And then it clicks. The missing piece snaps into place. That's his smile. The only person who ever smiled at Mike like that was Will.
Mike shudders with the force of his gasp as his entire reality shifts, the events of the past months slipping neatly into context. "You...How..." His voice drops to the barest of whispers, afraid that saying it any louder would shatter the dreamlike moment, "Will?"
The name settles into John's bones like gravity. The shirt fits right, the scarf loosens from around his neck. Will. He's Will. He nods at Mike, fresh tears rolling down his cheeks. They stare at each other, adrift in the revelation.
It feels like an eternity. It's a split second. Mike moves first, surging towards Will in pure need. They meet in the middle, Will's hands tangling in Mike's dark hair, and Henry--no--Vecna's curse crumbles away. Every stolen memory returns in a rush of light, swing-sets and hospitals and a painting in the back seat of a dusty pizza van (You're the heart, Mike--) flashing past in a dizzying handful of seconds.
They part for air, and Mike drops his head to bury his face in Will's shoulder. He's trembling with the force of the entire experience, but also with the realization of what he just did. He feels Will pull him closer, hold him tighter, and he allows himself to lean into the embrace, his shaky knees finally giving way. A sob tears itself from his throat and the floodgates open, fear and grief and longing burbling up from his chest and out through his eyes in burning tears.
They sink to the ground, Will refusing to let go for even a second as the love of his life breaks down in his arms. He hushes Mike gently, and reassures him, "It's okay, Mike, I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
"You were dead, I remember grieving you," Mike chokes out between sobs, "He took you from me. You were gone for so long, Will--"
Will cuts him off, "No, Mike. I was never gone. I was hidden in plain sight, but you found me. Again. You always find me, Mike, no matter where or who I am."
With a shuddering breath, Mike slowly moves to gaze up at Will, as if he's afraid that this is all a dream that could dissipate if he moves too fast. "You're really here...You were never gone...It was all him. And--and you..." He trails off, nervous to speak the words.
Will smiles down at Mike, eyes warm and bright. He knows. He also knows he doesn't need to say it, but he wants to. "Yes, Mike. I love you too."
An astonished giggle bubbles out of Mike at Will's words, elation replacing the grief that had made a home inside his heart since Henry's attack. "Holy shit, Will..." Mike stares up at Will from his place in his arms with starry eyes, sniffling quietly as reality fully settles in his mind.
"I know, Mike," Will reassures him quietly, using his shirtsleeve to wipe the tears from Mike's cheeks. "It's okay, you don't need to say anything. I already know."
The pair lingers in the moment, unwilling to let it go. There are battles to be fought, a hellish dimension to escape, a demon of a man to destroy. For now, though, they'll sit huddled together on the damp, cold ground of the Upside Down and allow themselves to bask in the small sphere of warmth and light they've created.

how much optimism do you have for bh endgame? the only thing making me somewhat unsettled is that i'm seeing all these ba stans talking about how at the end of the episode, jughead couldve written a happy ending with betty but instead wrote one with tabitha (?) is that really what happened? -someone who didn't bother to watch the episode
i don't really feel like i have to consider myself optimistic when i think bughead and varchie ending up together is the story they're telling tbh. like, i don't think it's not? i never have? i think people expect something because they want it and then get upset when it doesn't happen on their timetable tbh.
also, i'm not going to tell you not to read the b/as stuff because people do what they do but i will tell you that i have had to restrain myself from calling people stupid the last few days over the episode. not even just because i think they're wrong but because the episode holds your hand and explains itself; visually and textually to the point of offering you heavy handed exposition as dialogue.
an overly wordy episode summary and other nonsense below the cut👇
let me say that i get that people are looking for all kinds of opinions but i think anything offscreen needs to be taken with salt. lots of it. this show's promo is predictable and misleading at best. also, just because i don't shit on alex every time people bring him up to me doesn't mean i don't think he's so very bad at his interpretations. maybe some people are new here but he thought bughead was done in s2 too. and thought they'd end in s3. and also thought jughead was the gargoyle king. that's not including saying jughead was a dirtbag ladies man for s5 and it was jughead being dumped and getting rolled by a coed. you'll have to excuse me if i don't take him seriously.
and for sure, roberto essentially admitting that they did a 180 for the event is annoying because they were clearly setting up one narrative and then flipped which is bad writing but i get why they'd do that if they were dead set on doing the event the way they did. but basically flipping the pairings to do a horror event and then saying they need to "play out" in riverdale would not make me confident about them at all, tbh. but the b/as are not nothing if not confident. usually wrong. but confident.
(examples: b/a dating during the time jump, after the time jump, love confession after fwb, working together on the tbk, betty confiding in archie about the tbk, b/a baby, rain kiss, engagement by 5x19)
y'all, the b/as got nothing for years and still act like they do, if anything i have no idea why the bughead and varchies aren't serving them back that same energy. in an episode with betty and archie's wedding, in ended with bughead on a bed. be as petty as roberto was there, my guys.
i do think this episode needs to be watched to really get a good grasp of what they're doing with it, tbh. we saw from that article that leaked how badly just reading a summary of things doesn't show any cues, context, or nuance of any kind.
(even the archie stuff comes together on a second viewing i think. archie winks at jughead when jughead sees young archie from riverdale talking to grundy, he's the one to talk to jughead in the lounge when he's spacing in and out, he tells jughead it was just a dream when betty brings up the dream about a bomb, etc)
when he talks to dilton, he says the explosion of the bomb created rivervale, right? and dilton says that parallel universes are a copy or mirror of each other but we know that's not true for rivervale since things are the same but different but not opposite either. which i guess makes it a pocket universe.
if the universes are tied together at the point of creation, that's the point where they have to be separated, according to ethel.
(i think it's hilarious, tho, how heavy handed jughead was about re-creating the explosion. definitely not subtle at all in roberto getting them to a point where the bughead stuff pretty much has to happen for jughead's theory even tho there's no science, magic, or creation involved like he said about the first explosion)
(also can i say that so many people proved this week they do not understand the definition of words. mainly counterpart???)
ethel calls their rivervale selves aberrations, which is also hilarious considering how much shit we had to hear for weeks about how ammmmaaazzzzzinnnnnnggg the b/a and j/t stuff was going to be in rivervale because roberto said it was canon, don'tcha know?
but also, jughead saying, "is it possible to be nostalgic for a life you're not even sure is yours?" is definitely 👀 worthy. i wonder what he could be so nostalgic for? he's still friends with betty, archie, and veronica in rivervale, right? he's not nostalgic for a relationship he's already in that didn't exist until he was 25-26. i wonder what, like, over 80 of those comics was actually about then? 🤔
(archie saying that his dad would never miss his wedding, especially to betty, has me like...is that why archie won't let go of betty in riverdale? i actually think that's an argument that could be made after the way 4x18-19 went down after 4x17 tbh. all of archie's motivations for the longest time have been tied to his dad's memory)
okay this got away from me but the opposite of destruction, according to the jugheads (pour one out for narrator jughead), is creation. so writer jughead goes to the bunker and they show him starting to write the story from the point of jughead and betty starting the bomb countdown.
like, i know they think they're being clever by saying ohhh he could have written bughead a happy ending but the episode was extremely heavy handed in both saying that jughead thinks archie and betty are in love and that the bomb is the point of rivervale's creation.
(which, riverdale jughead has always been insecure about archie, like, since the start, why would 'vale jug, who admitted he didn't want really even go to the wedding be any different?)
jughead writes the story from the moment of them waiting for the bomb, he doesn't alter the entire history of that story. he continues it. he follows the story being told to the end with the history that came before it (which, to be fair, the tangs/choni stuff is weird because it switched throughout the episode? that seems to have been changed after the start? an anomaly?) and created a time loop. rivervale was always going to be rivervale because rivervale is always going to be rivervale.
they're probably just mad because even they can't escape the fact that jughead wrote someone calling betty to warn her about the bomb, which still happens at the point of the bomb in the story, (i know there's spec on who, if it was him or dilton, etc. i don't know who it is) and that pretty much means that writer jughead let riverdale jughead get hurt in order to make that call to her. but i'm sure none of those implications means anything for riverdale. right?
we don't know what that means for riverdale narratively yet, tbh. i fully expect to hear selective takes and willfully misinterpreted...everything for the next 3 months. like, i've already seen people argue the whole love triangle speculation because of the promo (where betty is sitting between archie and jughead) while those same people said b/archie endgame because of the still for 5x19 where betty and archie sat on the same side of the table. like, if they're so confident, why does bughead speculation bother them so much? if they didn't constantly tell me what their own spec was, i don't think i'd have much of a clue what they're talking about at any given point.
(or are they pretending to still like jughead? i mean, they should be mad he kissed betty while with tabitha right? or is that only reserved for parts of this fandom when it applies to betty?)
sigh, this was a long way to say that i think listening to people who probably skipped the bughead parts, are being willfully obtuse, and have made bad faith arguments for years is a waste of time. the episode explains itself pretty well.
i think the biggest question is, if writer jughead changed something in riverdale, what else did he change and how will that effect the rest of the season?

【Honkai: Star Rail Build TLDR】
↯ Tingyun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Buffer Build (Recommended!)
Tumblr media
[Relic Set 1 = gives SPD buff to allies, gets SPD to self] → 4pc Messenger Traversing Hackerspace → 2pc Fleet of the Ageless
[Relic Set 2 = more basic ATK DMG, gets SPD to self] → 4pc Musketeer of Wild Wheat → 2pc Fleet of the Ageless
[Relic Set 3 = to keep her squishy HP safe] → 4pc Guard of Wuthering Snow → 2pc Fleet of the Ageless
Tumblr media
Main Stats → Head = HP (constant) → Hand = ATK (constant) → Body = ATK% → Feet = SPD → Sphere = ATK% → Rope = Energy Regeneration Rate (ERR)
Sub Stats → SPD → ATK%
Tumblr media
Things to Consider
➤ Using any harmony LC, rotation would be: → if 2pc Fleet of Ageless + ERR rope, use 1 skill + 3 basic → if 2pc Sprightly Vonwacq + ATK% rope, use 2 skill + 2 basic → if S5 Meshing Cogs = 2pc Sprightly Vonwacq + ERR rope, use 1 skill + 2 basic
➤ Using Memories LC, rotation would be: → if S2 = 2pc Fleet of Ageless + ATK% rope, use 1 skill + 3 basic → if S5 = 2pc Sprightly Vonwacq + ERR rope, use 1 skill + 2 basic
** The highlighted ones are the recommended rotations for Tingyun.
Things to Remember
➤ If using the 4pc Messenger Traversing Hackerspace on another unit in same team, use other relic set on Tingyun since 4pc Messenger set doesn't stack its effect.
➤ She only needs to reach 2444 ATK to max out her level 10 buff (and around 2490 ATK for level 12). You only need a max 5* ATK% Body and Sphere to fill.
➤ The Benediction (ATK buff) from her skill lasts for 3 turns in an ally.
➤ Her ultimate gives 50 energy to ally and increases the said ally's DMG for 2 turns. The energy from her ult isn't subjected to the ERR% bonus of the ally, just flat 50 energy.
➤ Optional: Build her with 120+ SPD to get the atk buff from Fleet of the Ageless set effect.

But the Battle Isn't Over (5☆) [S1]
Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds (4☆) [S1]
Memories of the Past 4☆ [S5]
Dance! Dance! Dance! (4☆) [S1]
Meshing Cogs 3☆ [S5]
Chorus (3☆) [S5]
Past and Future (4☆) [S5]

Additional Block of Text Below
(Tbh, I just copy-pasted this from the Asta build TLDR I posted before this one. Lmao. Most harmony units practically have similar builds.)
4pc Messenger Traversing Hackerspace is the most recommended set for buffers and debuffers where their ultimate is directed at their allies. Tingyun is one of them.
4pc Musketeer of Wild Wheat is the former recommended set for buffers and debuffers before the release of the Messenger Traversing Hackerspace set in patch 1.2. While second in place, this option is still viable if someone is already using the 4pc Messenger in same team, since the 4pc Messenger doesn't stack effects.
