“Are you here?" Ava barely breathes it, there's a tension in the air that she can't recognize, an energy that squashes her. Her throat feels scratchy and she can feel the Halo slotted between her shoulders. Ava's flat on her back head turned to look over at Beatrice. She feels wimpy like a stomped flower, her left arm dangles dangerously close to Beatrice-territory. She wants to reach out, to touch Beatrice to confirm that she's here but something stops her. She feels so silly, she could easily shift over to touch Beatrice, shake her gently and -
Beatrice slides over, a firm sleepy sister warrior knife wielding badass with frumpy hair poofing from what remains of her low bun. She moves towards Ava, inches away from her but moves to answer her. It’s rare for Ava to see her like this. Beatrice is clearly fighting sleep, rubbing her eyes and doing her best to move in hopes that it’ll shake the sleepy spell.
She’s dressed in one of Ava’s ugly loose white shirts, a huge bass clashing with faded big blocky lettering that just reads “FISH”. Beatrice had looked at her weirdly when Ava had dug it out of the bins at a thrift store disheveled and ecstatic.
Ava had spent hours coaxing her into it doing her damn best to hide Beatrice’s laundry when she wasn’t looking. It fills a warm feeling in her chest and Ava wants to burrow further into it. It was a fool proof plan.
Ava found her shortness made it exhausting to reach up towards the Beatrice-level-cabinets. The halo pulls at her pinching and knotting up the muscles in her back after a long day of training. She feels it alive within her, an uncomfortable reminder sealed inside her back.
At the end of the day Ava settled on hinging at the waist. She had slowly started integrating Beatrice’s sleep shirts in cabinets that Beatrice had to bend down to reach. Ava always tried to situate herself at the scene of the crime doing her best to seem inconspicuous while she leaned over hungry for Beatrice’s reaction. Ava thumbed her findings down in the recess of her mind, her finger tracing over it in a hurried desperation. The time would pass and she did not want to forget.
(It helped, the imagery of Bea’s furrow when she would find her sleepwear underneath the sink when Ava would have to tuck her spine into the halo as she placed the shirt somewhere clean.)
Thanks to her genius planning Beatrice had finally caved and worn Ava’s huge “FISH” t-shirt after weeks of her persistence. She looked adorable, she was drowning in it and constantly tugging at it. She had found Beatrice loved to tuck it into the band of her sleep shorts creating puffy funny creases distorting the text even further to say “FSH”. It looked so ugly and old and endearing.
She looked out of her depth and it made Ava’s heart thump funny. Beatrice with her weird posh mannerisms combined with the peaceful unguarded look when she slumbered made her feel hot all over.
It was the prospect of the future, a glimpse into her life with Beatrice, of when they would grow old together. It shakes her, the idea that Beatrice will get wrinkles with her. She takes it seriously, a study that she isn’t well versed in but preparing for. It is a long hard internal debate flipping between what wrinkles will show first. Ava selfishly hopes it’s smile lines, that Beatrice will smile at her as much as she does in secret. She’s happy to be wrong, Beatrice’s forehead crinkles have always been cute. She hopes that Beatrice never stops looking at her, thinking of her. She wants to spend a long time being the source of her wrinkles. And just for right now she can handle the role of being just her friend.
Beatrice blinks one eye open, the other pressed against the pillow as she stifles a yawn. Her hand blocks her mouth in a delicate way and Ava can see her nails are short and uneven in places. Ava wishes she could touch them, study them in a way no one has done before. She wants to press against Beatrice hard enough to watch her skin fold around hers. Some sort of truth that she was here, that she is here.
Beatrice scoots over slowly, her elbow tucked under the pillow. She stops inches away from Ava, a frown set in her jaw. Ava mirrors her position albeit more awkwardly and more wiggling than Beatrice’s but she finds a place where the Halo won’t bite her back.
“I’m here,” Beatrice murmurs it, a quiet thing between them.
Ava closes her eyes hoping Beatrice won’t notice her shakiness. She blinks a few times before she presses closer, the arm she’s laying on moving to support her head underneath the pillow.
There’s so much to tell her, anything and nothing at all and Ava doesn’t know where to start. It constricts her throat, the constant stream of consciousness from inside of her heart. It’s horrible and she can’t stop it as the feeling balloons inside of her lungs. Ava wants help, she so desperately wants to feel okay again, to feel anything other than the stupid fucking halo. It grates on her nerves and muscles, a burning hot metal ring poking and prodding at the entirety of her upper torso. It leaves her reeling, a sort of anger that beckons for her to hurt (hurt something, hurt someone, hurt), disregarding the aftermath of tears and shame.
Ava is sure she’s shaking, a layer of sweat gathers between the space of her shoulder blades as the Halo lights up with her inner turmoil. It’s a faint pitiful thing that Ava would be ashamed of if not for the bone aching tiredness.
She wants to say she’s sorry the words clawing their way up her throat and it feels wrong to feel anything but that. There’s a sort of unspoken shame that haunts her with the Halo. It’s a thing she’s known long before any of this.
Beatrice drags her out of her turmoil with her hand hovering near Ava’s pinky. She has a gracefulness to it, like she has practiced it a hundred times over. It’s weird, to be in a bed, a soft and lumpy bed looking at Beatrice. Beatrice with such plain features and subtle cheekbones that Ava can’t stop looking. It pays off, watching Beatrice, Ava knows it when Bea smiles a grin too wide for polite acknowledgement and Ava can see her dimples pronounced.
“Can I?” Beatrice’s finger lingers near her hand, a hovering itch that Ava needs scratched. It’s so wholeheartedly Beatrice that Ava can do nothing but nod. Something inside of Ava aches harder than the rest of the organs inside of her. It’s the unwavering crushing thumping feeling that squeezes around her heart. The sincerity of Beatrice.
She places her hand over Ava’s and squeezes her gently. Beatrice’s hands are firm and soft. She can feel the callouses on her palms prodding at the back of her hand and wonders if Beatrice has ever had them fade away. If she’s had the pleasure of unscathed palms. Her hands are warm but not sweaty, not like Ava’s.
Ava can’t feel Beatrice’s pulse but she tries her best to match it. She imagines it would be a slow melody playing a duet with a classical track. Some sort of tune that spurs comfort or a feeling of nostalgia. She briefly wonders if Beatrice listens to music, if she seeks out music that has spoken to her. If there was a song that shook her to her core so deeply she had to sit down and digest it. There’s so much she still needs to know and so little time.
“I admit I’m not sure what you need from me.” Beatrice whispers it quietly, she’s hunched awkwardly, hovering close in Ava’s space but too far away for her own comfort.
Ava clamps her mouth shut, sure that “come closer” will betray her. That she will reach too far into Beatrice and take far too much.
Beatrice pays no mind to Ava’s silence and slowly caresses her hand, it’s a small little gesture that seems to have no set course. Ava briefly wonders if it’s the start of a massage or if Beatrice is looking for her joints underneath her skin and touching her tendons in apology.
It should be awkward, Beatrice and Ava orbiting each other in a lopsided manner. A rotational tilt that is unfamiliar to both of them and yet feels intimate. An unknown dance with their eyes closed and their breaths mingling. (It’s easy to follow Beatrice’s lead, Ava knows love.)
There’s nothing Ava can say to her, she chokes up at the prospect and they both blink at each other. She’s not sure what she needs, only that it’s nice having someone here.
Beatrice drowsily blinks rapidly and slowly at the same time as Ava watches swallowing the bits of her smile. Her hand has slowed its pathing, opting to curl on the inside of Ava’s fingers. It’s endearing watching one of her favorite bad ass sister warriors lose against sleep. It softens the edges of Beatrice who is always carrying some unseen obligation. (Here it is only the two of them free of their past and future burdens, just two girls sprawled thinly on hopes and dreams).
She can feel Beatrice’s grip loosen, she’s going to fall back asleep any minute now but Ava doesn’t have the heart to keep her up. Beatrice is no doubt tired, powered by her own sleeping and eating habits unlike Ava who has the artifact to juice her up.
She isn’t quite unwound but she feels manageable now. It’s weird to be within reach of Beatrice, someone who cares about her. To be in proximity of someone who will look for her, be in step with her, maybe it’s duty but Ava holds it close to her heart regardless. (It’s all the same to her, devotion, loyalty, love).
She clings to Beatrice afraid to let the moment go, she had called and someone had answered, Bea had answered. Ava can feel her eyes watering, it almost feels like a distant dream. She tucks her chin closer to chest and thinks, how awful to be loved.
She can feel her throat closing up and she squeezes Bea’s hand just a tiny bit harder. (She answers in the twitch of her hand, clearly on the cusp of sleep). The Halo still thunders in her back throbbing some fatal fate but here in the hush of night grounded by the touch of Beatrice she has some reprieve.  (Part 1)

It’s getting pretty late…
You think to yourself, hugging your shoulders as you look up at the overcast sky.
How did I end up here in the first place?
You move a leaf to the side and pick the fresh strawberry that was stashed there, rinsing it in your small bucket of water and taking a mouthful of the delicious treat.
You hear a shuffle beside you. Turning your head, you see a white bunny hiding behind one of your sunflower pots. You smile and place another strawberry onto the ground before slowly walking away. Your eyes relish how cute the little animal is as they chomp away at your colourful fruit.
You stand in the corner of your garden and decide from then on, you’d feed the hungry bunnies that would stroll into your neighbourhood.
A few days pass and you quickly became friends with two specific bunnies who you named Clover and Daisy. You eventually took them in as your own, rottenly spoiling both of the creatures. You loved having them around because living alone in a small town that was an hour away from the city can definitely become lonely.
“This tastes like candy to you doesn’t it Daisy?” You say as you hold out your hand and watch her nibble it up. The fur around her mouth is stained purple, you laugh at the sight.
“Okay that’s enough blueberries for tonight! You’ll get sick if you keep eating those.” You click the plastic container shut, standing up and walking into your kitchen. You place the container in the side compartment of your fridge for tomorrow and stroll back into your living room.
Your brows furrow. Daisy is gone. Daisy and Clover are such good bunnies, they never leave your sight for more than a minute. You assume she ran to her sister Clover, but your eyes widen in horror when you see your front door slightly more cracked open than it was before you left.
You anxiously open your phone and dial your best friend Frankie. You ramble to her about how stupid you felt for leaving the door open, like you are an irresponsible parent who’s no smarter than a bag of rocks. She calmly tells you to go look for Daisy and that she’ll come over as soon as she can to watch Clover.
“Thank you so so much, Frankie. I don’t know what I’d do without you.” You sigh in relief, a hand pressed over your chest. You feel your heart jump underneath your palm and your lips trembling with every breath.
“It’s no problem, Y/N/N. Now go look for that bunny, I’ll be over in 5.”
“Bye, thank you again..” You hang up the phone and dart out the door. You frantically look through your shrubs and call her name, but a bright white spot in your peripheral steals your attention.
There she is, bouncing her way into the open forest across the road from you. As soon as she hops out of your view you race towards her, carelessly running past two moving cars. You ignore the frustrated yelling and the beeping horns, continuing to boost into daisies direction.
“DAISY! WAIT!!”
You yell, but your shouting only seems to spur her on. You run after her and neither of you lose pace. You turn corners, run through mud and almost slip doing so at least two times. The animal suddenly picks up it’s speed, turning abruptly and disappearing into a thick bush. You get on your knees and practically rip this bush to shreds, but she was already long gone. Daisy is no more.
You feel tears sting your eyes, ears and cheeks becoming hot from your stress. You sniffle and wipe your tears with the sleeve of your jacket. You knew it was impossible to look for her now. That bunny became your life in just a couple of days, she felt like a childhood pet. The thought of never seeing her again made your heartstrings tie themselves into knots.
You lose the path you were on but you couldn’t care less. You lost your beloved bunny baby; life is no longer worth living. You wonder if Clover’s okay, and how exactly you’d break the news to her.
So lost and full of woe, mind not even switched on, you didn’t notice the thick tree root in front of you until you stub your foot against it and fall forward. You wince and slowly stand up again. Dusting the crunchy leaves off of your clothes, you use the back of your hand to wipe the dripping bead of blood from your cheekbone.
Great, a cut. I’ll have to clean that up when I get home..
You wonder aimlessly with your head hung low. A brisk breeze that brushes past you is what makes you finally look up.
You hug your shoulders as you stare at the gloomy airspace. The sun isn’t beaming, only a variation of different grey clouds flood the sky.
A person? This far out on in the woods?
Wanda thinks. She watches you with a deranged, curious look as you weave yourself through the webs and bushes, seemingly extra careful about tree roots.
You look up from the ground, scanning the area around you and pause when you see the warm glow of her cabin.
My god, she’s gorgeous.
She takes a swift step back so she’s not in the frame of the window anymore, her brows furrowing. She stares at the wall, she hasn’t seen an actual person in so long.
What is a girl like you doing traipsing in the woods?
She peeks again and now you’re making your way over, big wary eyes cautiously examining your surroundings. A shiver rocks through you as you cough into your elbow, then using that arm to place three firm knocks on the door.
You sigh while you wait for someone to answer the door. You switch from tippy toes to the heel of your feet in a nervous manner. The cabin looks great, almost pristine, there’s no way it’s abandoned.
You feel stupid for going into a cabin in the woods. It’s like some dumb movie; you’re just hoping you don’t end up dead. You expect to see an old, wrinkled man the size of a third grader, but your eyes widen when a tall red headed woman swings the door open. You stutter, stunned that a woman like her would live in a place so isolated.
Holy shit, she’s fine.
“Hi, um.. I know it’s a lot to ask but can I stay here for a little bit? I… got lost.” You fiddle with your fingers. She chuckles as she crosses her arms, biting her lip and letting her eyes run up and down your fidgety figure.
“No it’s not asking anything at all. It’s not like I get visitors very often.” She moves to the side and welcomes you in. You look up at her and mumble a small thank you, slowly stepping inside her warm homestead.
The smell of firewood burning and sweet lavender conquer your senses. The comforting atmosphere relaxes you despite how unfamiliar it is. You kick off your boots and grab them so you can neatly place them next to the door. She shuts the door and clicks it locked, quietly making her way over to what looks like her kitchen.
You drink in the sight around you. A tall, cobblestone fireplace lined up against the wall with wood already burning inside of it. A soft lounge suite with a fluffy mat sitting right underneath it. There’s a short hallway and two doors, one you assume leading into her bedroom and the other probably being her bathroom.
One thing you notice in particular is a painting, one with two women sitting on a red velvet couch. One is dressed in white, the other is dressed in black and they both have lace blindfolds wrapped around their heads.
Their Victorian dresses were detailed and long, their lips so close but afraid to touch and give in.
You look away and clench your fists. Your face is now hot, when you entered a remote cabin in the woods, a gay victorian painting was the last thing you expected.
“Take a seat, make yourself comfortable.” The woman’s hoarse voice echoes through the room. Your ears perk up when they catch a touch of an accent.
Is she some type of Russian? That’s hot.
Your anxious form shifts over to her couch to sit down. You sigh in relief, your aching bones melting into the man made cloud that was this woman’s sofa.
“So what’s your name, milaya?” The woman hands you a cup. Your cold fingers feel fuzzy against the hot mug, shuffling back further into her couch so you can sit up comfortably.
“Y/N. You?”
“Wanda.”
A small smile sits on her face that is on some level, disturbing. It’s such a beautiful smile but you can feel something is not right with her. Your intuition has never made itself more distinct, it was less noticeable when you were walking alone outside.
The room feels like it’s getting smaller, the claustrophobia whips the air right out of your lungs. Your eyes flicker between hers. The room starts to spin. Your ears start to ring. Before you could pass out cold, she cups your chin, the gentle gesture pulling you out of your panicked state.
“That’s a nasty cut isn’t it? Would you like me to take care of that?” She says, her tone coaxing. Your curious eyes linger on her,
Why is this stranger being so generous?
If someone entered your home and needed to stay the night, you’d tell them to get lost. She caresses your face softly while she stares at the wound.
“No it’s oka-“ She suddenly pushes a finger to the fresh cut, forcing you to wince and pull away from her. She looks at you in a way you can’t describe, your reaction seemingly piqueing her interest. Her pupils dilate but not enough for you to notice. You look at her with fearful eyes and think to yourself,
Who would do that?
“Actually, that would be nice. Thank you..”
~
Your eyes switch between the steaming drink in your hand and the obviously unhinged redhead sitting next to you. Her aura is intimidating, but you convince yourself it’s paranoia.
I’m in a remote cabin deep in the woods.
Who wouldn’t be unsettled? She’s nice and she helped you…stop being dumb Y/N!
“Thank you again for cleaning my cut, Wanda.” You try to strike up a conversation, but all you’re met with is painful silence. She watches your lips touch the ring of the porcelain teacup, then moving her eyes up to meet your own.
“You’re very observant aren’t you?” You refer to her endless stare, disguising your discomfort with a small chuckle. Her smile widens.
"Fascinuješ ma, miláčik.” “You fascinate me, darling.”
Your brows squeeze together. You wish you could understand what she said, but it felt rude asking her to repeat that in English. You result in shyly looking away and focus on your dangling feet.
Her hand occasionally runs down your back or strokes your arm. Her icy featherlight touches cause goosebumps to ride over your skin. She notices your eyes following her fingers, a mischief smirk hiking up her cheeks.
“You’re so lucky I’m here to help you, dear. What was a girl like you doing in the woods all alone?” Her hand lands on your knee, slowly climbing up closer to your heat and lightly massaging the flesh there. You squirm when she inches closer to your mound, but you’re in her home. She could do anything to you if you said something that upset her.
What if she’s just being nice? I don’t want to offend her…
“I- uh- I was hunting?” You try to paint yourself as tough but fail spectacularly; you can tell by the way she squints her eyes when she hears your answer.
“If that were true, you’d have hunting gear on you, sweetie.” She moves your hair to the other side of your neck to expose the milky skin there. She gawks at your neck like a predator creeping on her prey, ready to pounce on you at any given moment.
The thought of kissing and licking at your silky skin and the vivid image of you biting your plush pink lips made her tremble with desire.
You shrink, staring at the drink in your hands and feeling a strike of vulnerability as you quietly say the words, “I was chasing a bunny..”
“Aww aren’t you precious?” She praises. She toys with the soft threads of your hair, your cheeks glowing a rosy pink from her comment. Her hand squeezes your thigh more roughly, the unexpected act making you jump.
“Such a pretty thing.” She whispers to herself. You don’t catch her words, so you hum and tilt your head, showing your confusion in hopes she would repeat herself.
“Oh… nothing.” She quickly replaces her shock with a crooked grin. Your lips stretch into a small and nervous smile, slowly putting the cup to your mouth again.
A few more moments of silence are present. The crackling of burning wood and the crickets chirping in the distance gave you a chance to finally breathe, although you still struggle to ignore her invasive presence.
“Put the drink down.” You look at her in surprise. You stutter, taken aback by her orders but don’t dare ask any questions. You lick your lips and shuffle, leaning forward to sit the drink on her coffee table. You then move back against the couch and stare into the orange flames in front of you.
“Do you like when people are rough with you, angel?”
You freeze hearing her question. She tucks a stray strand of hair behind your ear ever so gently, grinning when she sees the sheer terror written on your face. There was something eerie about the way she had asked you, a corrupted little twinkle beaming from her eyes.
“Well, no.. N-Not really why?” Your voice is shaking. You know for sure now that this woman is not in her right mind. She could be capable of doing anything and you wouldn’t expect it. She flashes you a charming smile as she continues to twirl and play with your hair, leaning closer to you before whispering,
“Can I tell you a secret?” Your breath hitches softly and your body tenses at the close proximity. You refuse to look at her. You cement your eyes to the flickering fire in front of you. Her hand smoothly travels from your thigh to the zip of your corduroy jacket, slowly pulling down at the metal teeth to reveal your white v-neck shirt and ruby necklace. The sound of your zipper in the unsettling silence makes your skin crawl. You could almost hear the ominous, suspenseful background music. You don’t know what would happen if you deny her, so you hesitantly nod your head.
“I like hurting people… Especially pretty toys like you. I haven’t done it in a long time though.” Her eyes hungrily take in your chilled expression. You gulp when she pulls the jacket off of your shoulders and throws to the side.
“I love to see girls cry, tears running down their sweet little faces…” Her hands rub your upper arms soothingly as she rubbed her nose into the nape of your neck, inhaling your scent. You found yourself unable to move or respond, giving in to her game and listening to her sick train of thought.
“Can I make you cry, please, sweet girl?” She mumbles into your neck, gently nipping at the sensitive skin there. Your breathing becomes heavier, needing her so very badly you start to tune out the blaring alarms in your head.
“Wanda listen-” She moves on top of you. She situates herself between your legs giving you no chance to close them, running her hands up and down your thighs. It all happened so fast.
“Pretty please? You’d look so good..” She becomes breathless at the thought, lunging forward and forcefully pushing her lips onto yours. Her lips feel pillowy and soft against yours, she smells of sweet vanilla and a smoky but subtle cinnamon; the mix makes your brain go dizzy with want. She tangles her hands with yours so she can pin your frantic ones onto the couch. Butterflies dance in your stomach, adrenaline rushing through your veins. Her kiss is rough but somehow so soft at the same time, the conflicted feeling makes your heart flutter.
She puts all her body weight onto you, grinding her crotch into yours as she murmurs praises into your mouth. “You’re so fucking cute,” “It’s gonna feel so so good, just let me touch you..”
She slides her tongue across your lip, silently telling you to open your mouth. She angrily tightens her grip on your hands when you groan and clench your jaw shut, forbidding her access.
“Open your mouth, or I’ll find another way to make it stay open.” You whine quietly, slowly opening your mouth and letting her slide in. You whimper and squirm when her hands land on your hips, guiding you to grind against her knee.
“There you go, so so pretty grinding on me like that..” You grab handfuls of her sweater, the fabric of your cotton panties rubbing against you creating the perfect friction. You softly moan her name, back arching while hiding your face in her neck, ashamed how riled up you are from being taken advantage of. One of her hands move from your hip to your thigh, exploring the rest of your body before snaking up your stomach to grope at your breasts.
“Fuck,” She whimpers before biting down on your lip. She twists and teases your nipples between her fingers, feasting on the sight of your pathetic writhing.
“Wanda!” Your movements against her thigh become more frantic, so blissed out you couldn’t care about how needy and dumb you must look.
Your hands advance to her biceps, clutching onto her as you try reach the high you so deeply crave. Your heart thuds in your chest, sweat glistening on your forehead and gasping for air. Your tears soak her shirt, hating yourself for giving in to her but also not willing to stop.
“Cum, make a mess for me bunny..” Her hand grabs your chin and holds it still. You foolishly kept trying to turn your head, but your actions cease when her hand moves from your chin to wrap around your throat.
“Look at me when you cum.” She forces her face impossibly closer to yours, jutting out her jaw and admiring the sparkling tears falling from your eyes. Her breathing becomes ragged listening to your whines and sobs, the throb between her legs intensifying.
“I don’t want to..”
“I don’t care if you want to or not. I won’t let you move until you do.”
Your mouth falls open and your eyes roll to the back of your head, her cruel words somehow pushing you over the edge. Everything becomes white, your thighs shake and your body tenses. Waves of pleasure crash down on you, the euphoric feeling pulsing through you from head to toe.
She eagerly watches you fall apart from your first climax, knowing that she’s not even halfway done with you. Your chest rises and falls rapidly, eyes struggling to stay open and arms spread over the couch.
She carefully pushes her knee further into your pussy, your pleas and protests only making her more excited for what she plans next.
“I’m going to have so much fun with you, angel.”

“You’ll be out of your apartment before the end of the month.”
The statement played on a morbid loop in your mind as Bucky pulled you up from your chair. The guard gave you two plenty of room to enter the penthouse again. You looked at him, trying to convey in your expression that you needed him to do something. Anything. The man gave you nothing in return. It was pointless to try. He worked for Bucky, not you. He wouldn't care.
“Did you mean what you just said? Your promise?” You asked as you followed Bucky to the dining room table. You wanted him to take it back, to tell you it was a joke. He couldn't make you leave your home by the end of the month. He had no right.
“I think you know the answer,” he said, pausing when you yanked your hand away and crossed your arms.
“And I think you have a lot of nerve,” you uttered as he pulled out your chair. “Where the hell do you get off? And how do you even plan to get me out of my home? It’s not like you own the building.”
You had no idea how deep Bucky’s pockets ran. There was a chance he could buy the building tomorrow or bribe someone into evicting you. Would he stoop that low?
“I adore you, Kotyonok, but I’m not going to tell you and ruin the surprise,” he smiled, gesturing for you to take a seat. “And you haven't seen me get off yet.”
You ignored his comment as you sat down and stared into the flame of the candlelight. The familiar scent of the meal drifting from the kitchen put you at ease for the most part, but your stomach turned. Would this really be where you'd spend your meals from now on? It didn't matter that the penthouse was beautiful. You had a home. Maybe it wasn't as nice as this, but it was still yours.
Did Bucky care about your distress at all?
You blinked when you saw your wine glass on the table. The guard had grabbed both of your glasses from the balcony. For a man of his size, he sure as hell moved quietly. “Thanks,” you whispered, taking another swig to help calm your flaring nerves.
“You’re welcome,” he said.
“You know, I was so excited to have you in our home I don’t think I introduced the two of you,” Bucky said as the man stood tall. “This is Raymond, but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you call him Ray since you’ll be seeing a lot of him.”
You bit the inside of your cheek. Bucky said “our” again. Not “his”. You wanted to go back to bed and hide under your covers. “It’s nice to meet you. Is it okay if I call you Ray?” You asked, not wanting his boss to speak for him.
How and why did he work for him anyway?
His eyes were a brighter shade of blue than Bucky’s, but still had a touch of coldness. Though his expression did soften a fraction as he considered your question. “You may. And it’s nice to meet you, too,” he replied, nodding toward the kitchen before he stepped back.
The chef walked over seconds later with plates in hand, a large smile on his face. “Here we are. We have the…” You tuned him out as the dish was set in front of you, your eyes on Bucky across the table. He didn’t look at the chef either, your gazes locked in a silent battle. Your hand began to ache before you realized you were gripping the handle of your knife. You released it and looked away, but you caught his smirk anyway.
He won.
“Enjoy!” The chef finished, clasping his hands together.
Bucky shot him a look before he could walk away. “I’ll enjoy it once I know she does,” he said, his smile soft as he turned his attention back to you. “Dig in.”
A beat passed and all eyes were on you, waiting for you to have the first taste. It was unsettling to say the least as you blindly grabbed a piece of flatware to take a bite. You slowly chewed the food and wished you could've appreciated the additional flavors the chef added to make your favorite meal that much better, but being under the scrutiny of the entire room took away the delight.
“It’s delicious,” you announced, bringing another piece to your mouth. The chef’s audible sigh made it hard to swallow. What would Bucky have done if you didn’t like the food? “Thank you.”
“Yes, thank you,” Bucky added, still gazing at you like you were the center of his world. “Ray, would you show him out please?”
The chef didn’t have to be told twice as Ray wordlessly led him away.
You didn't miss the way Bucky's eyes followed your motions as you continued to eat. They told you he’d rather have you for the meal. That he’d reach under the table at any moment and part your thighs to gather the taste of you on his fingers. You firmly pulled your legs together.
“Are you not hungry?” You asked. He hadn't touched anything on his plate. Too busy staring at you. Why was he so fascinated with watching you do something as mundane as eating?
“I wanted to make sure you ate enough before I dug in,” he answered, finally taking a bite. He groaned as his eyes slipped shut, the sound making you press your legs even closer together. Being handsome didn't excuse a thing and you refused to let him get to you. “You're right. This is delicious.”
You averted your eyes when he ran his tongue over his lips. “Well, you hired him, so I imagine he's an amazing chef.”
“He is. I’m not a bad cook, but I don’t cook as often as I'd like.”
You nodded. Running a club likely kept him busy, but he could've used his free time cooking or doing something else instead of looking into your life. You ranted about that already though.
“Maybe we can have a day of the week where we make a meal together. We’ll take turns picking different meals to try, like pizza. We’ll have to make a pizza together,” he said, leaning forward as his eyes lit up. “I could even set up a projector on the balcony if you wanted to cuddle outside and watch a movie. Or we could do something indoors.”
“What if I don't want pizza? Or a movie night?” You asked, trying to gauge his reaction since you actually enjoyed pizza and movies.
“If that isn't what you're in the mood for, we can figure it out together,” he offered.
“Can we?” You asked, pushing a bit of the food around with your fork. “Or will you just make the decisions for me?”
You were speaking as if you planned to continue with his delusion. That you would actually have dinner dates and movie nights and cuddle. Things you always wanted with the right partner. The one you chose.
He twirled the knife in his hand before he pointed it at you. “I told you I don’t want to control you.”
“Yet you’re putting me in a cage.”
“You have a lot of freedom,” he retorted, taking another bite. “It’s not like I’m telling you to stop spending time with your friends or not have hobbies. I just want you close by. And about your job-”
Your eyes flashed. “If you’re about to tell me I have to quit, I will throw wine on you.”
“Thought you said it was too delicious to waste.”
“I’ll throw your glass on you and enjoy the rest of mine,” you said, warmth creeping up your neck when he chuckled. “Don’t laugh. I’m serious, Bucky. I’m not going to quit my job. I don’t care how much money you have. I love what I do.”
He laughed still, but held a hand up on surrender. “Kotyonok, I won’t make you quit your job. I know you love being a florist and I’m not about to take something away that makes you happy.”
You reigned your inner claws in. “So, I can keep working like normal? And why are you calling me Kotyonok? What happened to doll?”
“Doll, Kotyonok, you suit them both.” He reached up and ran a hand through his hair, looking every bit like the king of his castle. “And you can.”
“Oh. Well. Thank you,” you said, wishing you didn’t feel the need to thank him when it shouldn’t be his decision to begin with.
The two of you ate in semi-comfortable silence after that. You wanted to trust that he wouldn’t mess with your job, but he was interfering in the rest of your life. Maybe it wasn’t a cage he had you in after all, but he did have you on a leash.
Either way, you were his pet.
“Dance with me,” he stated once your plates were clear.
“There’s no music,” you said before a soft melody began to play in the room. You glanced around and tried to find where the speakers were. Ray must’ve turned it on.
You allowed him to help you up from your seat to hold you close. You bit back a protest when he guided your hands to rest at the base of his neck. There was hardly any room between you as he rested his hands on your hips and helped you sway to the slow beat. It contrasted with how your heart raced and you had to close your eyes to escape his gaze.
“I felt like I’d been asleep for a long time until you came along. You woke me up. Made me feel,” he whispered, his lips brushing against your forehead. “We’ll be happy together.”
His words had you catching your breath. He wasn’t the kind of predator who went right for the kill or the kind that merely stayed in the grass to bide his time. This was a cat and mouse of sorts. He caught and released you. The scary part was you didn’t know how long he’d hold onto you before he sank his teeth in or how long he’d let you run before he caught you again.
“I really want to kiss you,” he murmured, your heart thudding more as he rested a hand on your cheek.
“Not on the first date,” you said, hoping it sounded more like a tease than a complete refusal.
He chuckled and brought his lips to your ear. “What does our second date get me?”
You didn’t want to say the wrong thing, especially since he was playing along. But how long would you be able to fight off his want for you? “I guess we’ll play it by ear,” you answered.
“Making me work for it. I respect that,” he said, checking his watch as the song changed. “Speaking of being respectful, I should probably get you back to your place.”
As eager as you were to leave, you still asked, “No dessert?”
His heated eyes swept over you as he traced the diamond necklace with his finger. “I want you for dessert, but I’m trying to be good,” he replied, his voice husky as you held your breath. “I also made sure we’d have dessert to share in the car. Why don’t you go get your clutch and we can go?”
“Sure,” you said, taking one last look around the place as you went to get it. Bucky went to Ray and whispered something you couldn’t make out, but you went to the door instead of trying to eavesdrop. You didn’t want to know what the conversation was about. If it didn’t involve you, well, it wasn’t your business to begin with. And if it involved you, you were bound to find out anyway and you were too tired and mentally drained to deal with it.
A bath and more wine wouldn’t even help.
“I hope you like it,” Bucky smiled, holding up a small container as he joined you with Ray right behind him.
“Let me guess,” you said, taking the container from his hand. “It’s my favorite.”
“Of course,” he said, opening the door and putting an arm back around you.
You looked back when Ray didn’t follow you into the elevator, wishing he’d join you so you wouldn’t be alone with Bucky in there. You supposed it didn’t matter. Would he stop his boss if he tried anything or just look the other way?
It was surreal to leave the penthouse. You half expected him to go back on his word and not let you go. You glanced at him as the elevator went back down to the garage. Besides being a walking red flag, he was still a mystery.
“You said your mom would’ve loved me. Past tense,” you said, seeing his jaw clench. “Did something happen to her?”
He tightened his arm around you as the elevator stopped. “She’s gone and that’s a topic for another day,” he said, pausing to give you a tender smile. “But thank you for asking.”
The man had issues, but you hadn’t meant to touch on a sore topic. Why were you asking personal questions about him anyway? You weren’t his girl. He wasn’t going to be your guy. This wasn’t a fairytale. If it was, he would be the villain disguised as a king.
Bucky helped you back into the car, once again not waiting for the driver, and got in beside you. He barely had the door closed before you pulled you into his lap, the container almost falling from your hand as the other went to his chest. “Bucky, what are you-”
“I said you could sit in my lap after dinner,” he smirked, running a hand along your thigh. Your body went rigid as his hand trailed higher. “I won’t do anything except feed you.”
You stayed perfectly still as he moved his hand away and opened the container. He promised he wouldn't force anything tonight, but you didn't want to throw fuel on the fire by shifting and inadvertently teasing him. It would be fine. A short drive and you’d be back at your apartment.
“Open,” he ordered. You obeyed, your mouth opening up for him to place a piece of the dessert on your tongue. He swore under his breath as you closed your mouth to chew and his hand found its way back to your thigh. “Swallow it, Kotyonok.”
You were lucky you didn’t choke, the normally sweet treat sliding bitterly down your throat. He probably imagined saying those exact words to you in a very different sort of scenario. Feeling his hips move slightly beneath yours, he was likely imagining it right this second.
“Good girl,” he sighed, feeding you another piece before he buried his face in your neck. “I can't wait until you're really home.” His breath tickled your skin. “I won't have to say goodnight and watch you walk away. You’ll be beside me and fall asleep in my arms.”
“In your home,” you whispered, tilting your head to give you some space, but he followed.
“Our home,” he corrected you. “End of the month.”
Your chest ached, but you breathed evenly. You were almost home and could panic once you were alone. “It’s too soon. You understand that, right?”
“I went too long without having you by my side. You understand that, right?” He asked, cupping your cheek to make you look at him. “You went too long without me, too.”
It wasn’t fair that he was trying again to prey on your loneliness. “Bucky, you have to give me some leeway here.”
“We can figure it out together,” he said, the same thing he said during dinner. Dismissive. He thought he was going to get his way. And he would, wouldn't he?
“Well, we aren’t figuring that out tonight,” you said, pushing off his lap when the car came to a stop and fixing your dress since it rode up. “Good night.”
He stopped you from getting out. “I have to walk you to your door.”
“I’m not letting you in,” you warned. You needed your space.
“You do remember that I can get in your place without you opening the door for me, right?” He cupped your cheek again when your eyes rounded. “But I won’t do that tonight. I’m just making sure you get in safely.”
“That’s ironic coming from you,” you mumbled.
He chuckled and helped you out. Your building normally looked like a safe haven, but it was like there was a clock overhead counting down the moment until it was no longer yours. “I really do love how sweet you are, but I love your claws when they come out.”
“Careful. I just might scratch you.”
He groaned, leading you inside. “You know, you’re welcome to scratch up my back. Leave your mark on me and I’ll leave one on you.” He winked when you caught his eye. “And in you.”
He caught you when you stumbled. “Stop saying stuff like that, please,” you begged, straightening yourself out. You weren’t sure how much more you could take tonight.
“I can’t help myself,” he said, taking your phone from his pocket once you got to your door. “I had a really nice time tonight.”
His fingers touched yours as you took your phone back. “I had a nice time, too,” you said. Under normal circumstances, a romantic dinner and diamond necklace would’ve been a dream come true. “Good night, Bucky.”
He lingered as you unlocked your door. You turned to remind him that you weren’t inviting him, but you couldn’t speak when he leaned in. His lips brushed the corner of yours, all too gentle and intimate.
“Sweet dreams, Kotyonok.”
You ducked inside without another word and locked the door, listening for his footsteps. It took a moment, but you heard him walk away before you slid to the floor. It felt like you could finally breathe again since you were home and he wasn’t going to bother you again tonight.
Your heart sank though when you checked your phone and saw a message from Addison.
“Change of plans for tomorrow and I’m so sorry, but Brady somehow got us a reservation at The Terrace. Can you believe it?! Maybe we can hang out the day after?”
Tears burned your eyes. You were looking forward to seeing her. It would've been nice to pretend that everything was normal. Or maybe you would've told her at least something about your situation.
Your mind drifted to Bucky. The Terrace was one of the best restaurants around and usually booked a couple of months in advance minimum. Was it a coincidence that Brady somehow got them reservations on the day you were supposed to hang out with Addison or did your new suitor have something to do with it?
Speak of the devil, you received a new message from the man himself.
“Thank you again for the wonderful date. Are you free tomorrow night? I’d love to introduce you to some of my friends.”
Your eyes narrowed. The second you see that your plans are broken, he messages you? If you didn't think he meddled before, you certainly did now.
“I don’t have anything to wear.”
He messaged back seconds later. “Yes, you do. I can have it sent over or have it ready for you here.”
You huffed out a laugh before a couple of tears fell. Meeting Bucky’s friends would be another step in his plan to make you his. If they didn’t like you, maybe they’d sway him into forgetting about you. It was wishful thinking. Because you knew in your heart that Bucky wasn’t going to let you go.
But if he was going to play, maybe you could find a way to throw him off his game.
“I actually have plans. Maybe another time.”
You didn't bother looking to see if read the message or if he responded. Your life was your own. Bucky would have to deal with it. But knowing how he handled things so far, he’d find a way to have you on his arm tomorrow night.

Yay to @targaryenvampireslayer for guessing who the guard is! And what's Bucky going to do since you declined meeting his friends? Love and thanks for reading! ❤️

Judgy McJudgy Pants or Osc? You decide!- o.piastri
Tumblr media
Day 9 of fic-tober! fic-tober masterlist
summary: you and oscar are getting closer, or are you?
part one | part two | part three | part four | part five
୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ
You stepped out onto the asphalt with a smile. Another weekend, another race, another day in your perfect job. Well, maybe not perfect. Oscar Piastri, aka Judgy Mcjudgy Pants was somehow still in the paddock and somehow still getting on your nerves. Anyways, Thursday meant media day, which meant you got onto the track early, usually with some of the F2 or F1 Academy drivers for an early morning cycle. By early, it really meant early. 5am start, and since it was Austin, spectators were already filtering in. Running beside you today was none other than Judgy Mcjudgy Pants himself, Oscar Piastri.
“So JMcJP,” you started as your cycle began. “How are you feeling about this weekend?”
He chuckled at the nickname, then answered with a simple ‘good’. You rolled your eyes. You had never been able to get good answers from him, no matter what. He’d always be too busy giggling like a schoolboy to answer your questions, so you saved the shitty ones for him.
“Descriptive,” you deadpanned. “Now, since we at SkySportF1 are so nice, we decided to bring someone special in to interview you!”
“Not just because you don’t want to do it?” he smirked.
“Everyone welcome Logan Sargeant!” you ignored his snarky comment and turned to Logan, who appeared beside you as you cycled. You handed him over the mic and cue cards and just focused on your ride, off-camera. The track was a little over 5 kilometres, so it wouldn't be a long interview.
“So Oscar,” Logan cleared his throat. “Anyone special in your life at the moment? Other than your debilitating crush on our lovely F1 presenter Y/n Y/l/n?”
Oscar’s face dropped and he stopped cycling. “This isn’t live right?”
“It’s not, don’t worry,” Jordan, your camera operator, explained with an apologetic smile on her face.
“Thank God,” he cheered, relieved. “Logan you asshole!” Oscar pushed into him, with a smile, but pushing all the same.
“What? You need to confess eventually?!” Logan scodlded, somehow staying on his bike.
“Not right now though, I was making good progress!”
“What, you could get through 3 whole words without giggling, or are you up to 4?” Logan mocked.
“I am a grown man-”
“Maybe I’d believe you if you just had the balls to ask her out.”
“You two are so slow, hurry up!” you called from about two hundred metres in front of them. “Alright, next question!” Logan moved on, cycling onwards again. “Who’s your best friend on the track?”
“Well I would say you but you’ve left us for Indycar, so… probably Lando, Alex, or Zhou,” he nodded.
“And why is that?”
“Lando and I are teammates, Alex and you were teammates so I saw you two together a lot, and Zhou and I were in F2 together,” he shrugged.
Logan’s eyes widened at the next question. “Who’s your favourite SkyF1 presenter?”
Oscar sighed, but told the truth anyway. “Y/n, probably.”
“I hope you’re not talking bad about me!” you shouted back at them, even further ahead now.
“Only good things!” Logan shouted back with a smile as Oscar fell deeper into his embarrassment. “Alright Oscar, who would you choose as your date to the prize-giving gala at the end of the year?”
Oscar sighed again, knowing what he was subjecting himself to. “Probably Y/n.”
Logan laughed as Oscar sighed, and an awful idea popped into his head. He turned to the camera with a big smile, and said. “If Oscar wins today we should make Y/n go as your date for the gala.”
Oscar’s face filled with dread but he knew how much Sky liked to torture their hosts, so he knew they’d love the idea. You? Not so much. In a selfish way, he was pretty happy that Logan had said it, because it gave him a chance with you. A whole night with you to himself? Sounded perfect to him. All he had to do was win the race.
“Y/n! We have an idea!” Logan shouted to you. “If Oscar wins today you have to go as his date to the prize-giving ceremony at the end of the year!”
You groaned as you reached the starting/ finish line again. “Do I have to?” you looked to Ted Kravtiz, technically he was your boss. He smirked and nodded, and you started hoping that Oscar wouldn’t win today. “Sounds like a deal,” you said, unenthused.
Logan cheered as Oscar’s sense of dread deepened, and he started to feel bad that they were forcing you to spend time with him. This couldn’t just be about the shoes, right? You had to hate him for another reason. It’s just… you never dropped the facade, in front of him anyway. You were always mildly irritated with him (except when he won his first race), and if you weren’t mildly irritated, you were completely. The cameras cut, Logan started chatting with you as Oscar stood there, catastrophizing even more.
You watched as Oscar essentially left the room, though he was standing right there. You’d never seen him get like that, he was always so calm and so collected, and it was almost worrying to see him be anything else. After a few minutes he left without a word to either of you, and you started fearing the worst. Maybe you’d brought this JMcJP thing too far, maybe he hated you, maybe you should go talk to him.
୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ After a few interviews, you found yourself walking around the McLaren motorhome trying to find Oscar. Eventually, you found his driver’s room and knocked on the door hesitantly. “Oscar?”
It swung open and you were met with a very confused looking Oscar who pulled you into his room and shut the door behind you two. He put the back of his hand against your forehead, seemingly… checking for a temperature?
“Are you feeling alright?” he asked. “You never call me Oscar.”
You rolled your eyes at his awful excuse for a joke, and sighed. “Y’know I did come in here to apologise, but I don’t think I’m going to do that now-”
You turned for the door but he grabbed your hand and pulled you back. He raised an eyebrow. “What would you be apologising for?”
“Logan this morning, you don’t have to use me as your date for the prize-giving ceremony, use your girlfriend-”
“Don’t have one,” he answered quickly. “And I need to win, right?”
“Right,” you smiled. “But seriously, don’t ever feel pressured to like… do what Ted says. Or be around me, I know we don’t always get along, but it is all in good fun, right?”
He nodded, all too happy that he could finally get through a conversation without giggling. “Right.”
“Well, I’ll see you tomorrow then,” you smiled, going for the door handle but once again, he pulled you back.
“You don’t just dislike me because of the shoes, right?” he asked.
You chuckled. “What would you say if I don’t dislike you, but I am still hurt over the shoes?”
He rolled his eyes. “Oh good,” he chuckled. “And how can I pay my penance for that?”
You thought about it for a moment, then smirked. “Winning today would be pretty helpful, I wouldn't have to think about a date then.” He smirked and nodded, finally letting go of you and letting you leave the room.
He had to win today. ୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ
“And it’s Oscar Piastri who crosses the finish line first, making this his third career win!”
Fuck off. He won. And you weren’t even mad.
Ted looked at you with a smirk. “Not needing a date for the ceremony then?”
“Shut up,” you scolded, playfully hitting him. ୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ

An old concept that I'm still feral over, but a Dreamling fic in which the dreamling relationship is chronicled entirely by Yelp reviews of the New Inn.
Reviews are either 5* or 1* with surprisingly little in between, and the business owner replies are always a riot. They start off fairly normal, talking about the food and drink, the couple of guest rooms upstairs, the location and prices etc, but then they start to get weird.
Constantine leaves 3*, beer is shit whiskey is ok not haunted which is more than I can say for most london pubs and the response is Thanks Jo, but you're still banned
4* this place is run by my history professor and it's amazing but he asked me about my overdue essay three times so I can't give it 5* and Hob, who has had multiple students visit the pub for the sole purpose of doing this, is just like you still haven't submitted that, get off yelp and start citing your sources
There are multiple 5* reviews like would give 10* if i could, the owner chased off a neo nazi with a literal sword he pulled out from behind the bar
5* should probably give it less because a couple of times the answers to the history round on the monthly quiz night have been wrong, but otherwise it's a solid little place for a reasonably priced pint and a nice afternoon and Hob's response is just those answers were right
And then Dream comes back and the reviews start... Changing, a bit
One of the 1* reviews is just complaining about the fact that there was a bird at the bar and no one got rid of it and the reply from Hob is that's Matthew, he has a tab. Several of the 5* reviews are also about the fact that sometimes there's a bird in the bar
One of the 5* reviews is saw the most beautiful goth twink in the world, will definitely be going back and Hob nearly deletes that one. The reply instead is that's my boyfriend, unlike Matthew he never pays his tab
5* i have no idea how i got there or found the place because i swaer i was halfway across london from where google maps says it is but anyway the bartender was really great and understandig when I started crying on him, will defiantely go back if reality ever warps like that again. Response from owner: yeah sorry about the reality warping, we don't get it either
1* I only wish I could have given this establishment a glowing review – fabulous service, lovely food and a sumptuous wine I hadn't expected, but unfortunately I had to see my brother's face. Response from owner: Desire get off the internet, it doesn’t need your help

I have a request but I’d understand if you’re getting too many and you don’t want to do this one. I wanted to request a super soft fic like you wake up Emily in the middle of the night because you can’t sleep and you keep asking silly questions like “would you still love me if I was a worm?” And she is super sleepy but tries to comfort you into falling asleep again and answering you as you want
midnight whispers | e.p

Tags: established relationship, reader being kinda annoying, fluff, endlessly sweet fluff u guys, no use of yn, use of petnames

This is the cutest thing ever I giggled
Tumblr media
It’s 3:47.
You know because it’s been less than two minutes since you’d last looked at the clock before closing your eyes, fruitfully hoping for the sweet relief of sleep.
Shockingly, it doesn’t come.
Which doesn’t make sense, really, because you can feel the exhaustion in your bones and pressing down on your eyes. You’d been tossing and turning ever since you’d climbed into bed with Emily, your girlfriend falling fast asleep after she gave you a chaste kiss goodnight. You can hear her deep breathing right next to you and you’re slightly envious.
The room is dark, only a sliver of moonlight creeping in through the curtain providing sparse illumination. It’s reasonably cold, a light chill that has you covered beneath the blanket, and the air is still with the silence of midnight hours—all optimal conditions for you to comfortably fall asleep in, but it still evades you. Emily’s sleeping body provides warmth, too; her head is halfway onto your pillow, her slow breaths fanning across your neck.
Your eyes slide to her and you bite your lip. Should you wake her? You’re tired of wallowing in this misery for over—3:48 now—5 hours on your own, even if your sluggish brain struggles to justify how she could help.
Her chest rises and falls with slow, even breaths, her lashes dark and resting gently on her cheeks. She needs the sleep, you know she does, and some part of your heart resists waking her for your own selfish reasons.
But company is nice, even sleepy company, so you push aside the guilt and shake her gently.
“Emily,” you whisper.
Her brows furrow.
It takes a few more shakes and whispers of her name before her eyes crack open. Deep brown irises stare into yours, tired and hazy with sleep.
“What?” She mumbles. Her hand clumsily reaches for yours; it’s cold. “You ’kay?”
Is it wrong that the rough warmth of her voice already makes your muscles relax? You bring her hand up to your lips, pressing an apology to the ridges of her knuckles.
“I’m okay.” You say, kind of feeling like the worst person in the world right now. “Just can’t sleep.”
Emily frowns deeper. “Nightmare?” She whispers, her eyes growing more alert.
“No, no,” you’re quick to reassure. The concern above her brow loosens, and her lashes flutter closed again. “Couldn’t sleep to begin with.” With her hand in yours, your lips find her temple.
“Drank too much coffee?” The rasp of her voice is muffled into your neck as you trail a few kisses to her cheekbone. You’re probably being insufferable, but she doesn’t pull away—though you begin to think that’s from the sluggishness of sleep more than anything.
“Just as much as you.”
Two cups, hers with an insulting amount of Splenda and yours with decidedly less.
Emily doesn’t reply. You lean back against your pillow and find her eyes closed again. The large t-shirt she’s wearing slips down her shoulder, exposes her pale skin that looks moonlit, smooth as ivory.
Your heart thumps softly against your ribs as you smile. “Hey Emily?”
She hums sleepily.
“Do you love me?”
The corner of her mouth curls upward. “You’re sleepin’ in my bed, amor.” The combination of her sleepy voice and the Spanish makes you melt into the mattress, a stupid heat in your cheeks.
You tuck your joint hands beneath your jaw. “But that could mean nothing.”
“Means everythin’.” She whispers. Her eyes are still closed, her mouth barely moving. You should leave her alone now, but you just want to talk to her when she’s like this; sleepy and lovely, her body warm in some places and cold in others, the hushed timbre of her voice calming your restless mind.
“So you do love me?”
“Mmhmm.” Emily hums. Bless her patience. Her fingers flex between yours and you lift them from their hiding place under your jaw, bringing her hand to your lips instead. Emily exhales through her nose, the sound lazy and content as she digs her face further into your pillow.
She’s drifting again, and you’re still wide awake. “Would you still love me if I was a worm?” You blurt, squeezing her fingers.
Emily’s eyes crack open. “You’d be a cute worm,” she slurs, the small indent of a dimple digging into her cheek. You grin and she shuffles closer, her shoulder touching yours, your heads softly knocking together, “You’d be a cute anythin’.”
Again, she avoids the question. “But would you love me?” You persist. Leaning further into her, you nuzzle your nose against hers, a stupid smile forming on your lips when she scrunches her face adorably, her eyes fluttering open again.
“I’d be head over heels for you.” Emily states, now leaning into you to nuzzle her nose into yours. “Our romance would be no less epic,” her words drift into a mumble as exhaustion takes her again, forcing her eyes shut.
Even half asleep, she’s a charmer. You stare a moment at her relaxed face, letting the warmth of it rush through your whole body. Her slow breaths fall against your upper lip, warm and rhythmic.
“Do you think we’re in love in every universe?” You whisper. What is it with all these questions about love? “If I was a barista maybe, and you’d be enchanted by the color of my eyes as I gave you your coffee?” You muse, playing with her limp fingers. “Or if we’re both butterflies taking naps in the same flower—”
“Baby, please go to sleep,” Emily mumbles, her words slurring together adorably. She never calls you baby; your grin stretches wide. She untangles her fingers from yours and wraps her arm messily around your neck, bringing you into her chest. “I’ll hold ya, jus’ please sleep.” The words are lost in your hair.
You smile into her warm neck. “Oh, well, if you’ll hold me.” You tease softly, but there really is something so magical about feeling Emily’s chest rise and fall beneath yours. Hearing her steady pulse, her slow breaths, feeling her cold hand sleepily tangle in your hair. It’s easy, closing your eyes, and as she starts to drift, you feel yourself drift with her.
“Can I have a kiss?” You ask softly.
Emily nuzzles her lips into your forehead.
She’s so much softer like this, when she’s half awake. Emily is never harsh with you, but like this she’s completely unfiltered, stripped bare of her walls and her inhibitions, and you’re drunk on it, on her, on the fact that you get to see her like this.
Your eyes finally begin to grow heavy. Lashes fluttering shut, you breathe in Emily’s scent—the expensive lotion she’d rubbed into her skin before bed.
“Emily?” You whisper.
Silence rings in your ears. You try again.
“’Mily?”
A breath comes out of her, exhale or sigh you don’t know. “Yeah, hon.” She mumbles.
You bury your face deeper into her neck, until you feel her slow pulse. “I’m so in love with you.” You admit to the softness of her skin. Think it might kill me one day.
“Mmm, ditto.”
It’s disgustingly cliche, but in her arms, her lips still against your forehead, it takes no time at all for sleep to finally steal you away. 4:00 comes and you’re both fast asleep, your body curled around Emily’s, her hand still in your hair.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Kyletober 2024!! I am very excited about this little event and I am greatly looking forward to sharing these lovely little fics about Kyle over the next 31 days.
There are 17 fics in total and they all are smut fics, so if you are proceeding past this point then you are confirming you are at least 18 years of age.
Some important things to note:
Some of these fics will be touching on kinks and topics that likely won't be for everyone. They will be well warned and tagged at the beginning of the fic and if you choose to read it, then you are consenting to being exposed to such topics and content and acknowledging that you did, in fact, read the warnings.
Some of these fics will contain some controversial subjects and some graphic content other than sex. Again, there will be ample warnings in place about this content and if you choose to ignore them, then that is on you. (I am human though, so if I missed a warning/tag please let me know and I will add it.)
Other things to note aside from the above:
These will all be fem!reader since that is what I am comfortable writing.
Unless otherwise specified in the warnings, then assume consent is implied and was given off screen.
The content in some of these stories is very graphic. The views expressed in these stories do not necessarily reflect those of the author. For more information, see this post here
If you don't like something, there is no pressure to read it. You are in charge of the media you choose to consume.
Anon will not be turned back on. It's still off indefinitely and will remain that way. Guest comments are turned on over on Ao3, so if you would prefer to remain anonymous, then that is an option as well.
Most importantly, we are here to have fun. Anyone spoiling that fun will be blocked. For more information, see my blog rules here
Okay. Let's get into it

part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8, part 9, part 10
samy was in san jose the next weekend. she came out of her gate in search of will who told her he'd meet her there, so her eyes scanned the crowd for his familiar blonde curls. there were so many people pushing and shoving their way through, she forgot how busy san jose's airport was compared to ann arbor.
finally, the brunette found will's taller figure near the edge of the crowd. she quickly grinned, raising her hand so he'd see her before navigating herself towards him. she came out on the other side of the crowd embracing her boyfriend in a tight hold. he held her tightly, spinning the two around a bit.
"hi, so good to see you," the girl mumbled into his shoulder.
"glad you made it safely. it's good to see you too," will cheered, pulling back so he could see her face. his hands caressed her cheek, quickly pecking her lips and then pulling her back towards the exit.
"mack's waiting with the car in kind of an illegal parking spot, so we gotta hurry back," will explained his fast pace while samy just giggled. typical.
"don't tell me you parked in the pick up lane," she raised her eyebrow. when will didn't say anything the girl hit his arm and rolled her eyes.
"what? i wasn't gonna spend an hour fighting with someone in the parking garage," he defended himself because why would he waste his time in there when he could sort of illegally park in the pick up line for ten minutes?
will navigated them through the busy airport in five minutes, way faster than samy would have gotten herself out. the warm san jose air hit her skin like a refreshing drink after spending so much time in the cold back in michigan. she giggled as the blonde pulled her towards his fancy bronco—one of the first things will spent his new money on.
"wow, i haven't seen the car in person yet," she admired how clean and sleek it looked compared to her parent's old ford suv she drove around back home. (and it was actually jack's before it was hers)
"nice, isn't it?" will grinned proudly as he helped samy get her suitcase into the back.
"hey samy!" mack exclaimed from where he moved himself to the backseat. the only rule in will's car was that samy got passenger seat anytime she was around.
"hey mack!" the girl exclaimed and ran around to quickly hug in before getting into the front.
will was in a moment later and the three of them rolled out before an officer gave them a ticket for parking in the pick up line.
"it's good to see you, mack. i haven't seen you since the draft," samy grinned.
"you too. i'm excited you're visiting this weekend. smitty was yapping in my ear yesterday about all the plans he had for you guys," the younger brunette said making will flush in slight embarassment. samy found it endearing though.
"ooh, i can't wait. i haven't been up since we moved him in at the beginning of august," the girl poked her boyfriend's arm to which he just grabbed her hand to hold it.
macklin smirked from the backseat, remembering the conversation he poked at will about a month ago about his driving. it all made sense to the shark player now.
"well when you and will aren't off doing whatever, sennecke and i wanna catch up with you. he said he'd drive up to hang out like tomorrow or something," macklin said.
"wait, yeah. i wanna see him beck. i told him i'd see him whenever i was here," samy grinned. beckett and mack were the two "freshmen" she adopted and basically took under her wing at the draft this past summer and with such busy schedules, she hadn't been able to see them since.
"not to put a dent in your plans or anything smitty," macklin eyed his friend in the front seat. will just shrugged.
"all good, we have like three-ish days to do stuff. i haven't seen much of beckett either so it'd be cool to see him," will nodded in agreement and the other two smiled.
will dropped macklin back off at his place and then went back around the block to the house. he helped samy with her luggage again and led the way into the marleau household.
"just a fair warning, pat's youngest kids will go a little crazy at first because..you know..you're quinn, jack, and luke's little sister," will chuckled a bit before he opened the door. samy flushed, a smile gracing her lips.
"dont worry, i can handle it," and with that, will carefully opened the front door.
the commotion could be heard loud and clear. it was definitely a boy house with the tv on loud and voices already arguing about something as the couple stepped in.
"hey guys, will's back with samy!" patrick saw them first where he got up from the couch to greet them.
christina came out from the kitchen with the youngest boys behind her. the older ones got from the couch too. "hi samy! it's so good to finally meet you. we've heard a bunch about you," chrisitina grinned, going in for a hug.
"it's so good to finally meet you guys too," she hugged her back and then went to give a quick hug to patrick.
"welcome to our home for the weekend! these are our boys—landon, brody, jagger, and caleb," patrick introduced the boys who shyly waved at the girl.
"you're quinn's sister!" caleb exclaimed making the others laugh. samy smiled, bending down so she was eye level with him.
"i am. maybe i can score you a signed puck or something," the girl laughed and she loved the way caleb's face lit up at that idea.
"why don't you guys get settled in and then i have some lunch whenever you're hungry," christina smiled and samy thanked them for letting her stay before following will upstairs.
she admired how will already hung up some of the things that were on his walls at boston. she especially liked the framed pictures of her and him on his nightstand.
"those boys are adorable," she turned to him as he set down her suitcase and shut the door.
"they're pretty funny. maybe they can convince you to play some driveway hockey with them," will chuckled.
"oh, 100%. they seem so nice, i'm glad you've found a home here with them," samy sat down on the bed to just take it all in and catch her breath after the plane ride and meeting everyone.
will quickly joined her. "it's..it's the life alright. i'm grateful for how kind they've been to me."
"i mean, duh. who wouldn't wanna be kind to you," the soccer player laughed as she reached over to pinch her boyfriend's cheek. he took that as his opportunity to take ahold of her hand and bring her in for a better kiss than their peck at the airport.
this one was a lot slower and filled with more love. samy curled her good arm around his neck where she toyed with the little curls on the back of his neck. her hand brushed against his chest and will curled his own fingers around her own.
"i love you. i'm glad you're here. this is gonna be really fun," the boy hummed when they pulled apart.
"i love you too, handsome. can't wait to beat your ass in driveway hockey later," she teased and will rolled his eyes.
"alright. don't gotta go that far."
"you're just mad because you know i will, even with a hurt shoulder," the brunette smirked. luckily, she was able to graduate from a bulky sling to a shoulder brace that still kept everything in place, but she had a bit more mobility than before.
plus, even though it was her right shoulder, she shot with her opposite arm and hand in hockey so she'd have no problem taking down will and the marleau kids.
later that afternoon, samy did exactly that. all the marleau boys were out in the driveway with will and samy as they teamed themselves off to play against one another. samy got brody and landon, the older ones, for the first round and she already knew they were gonna kick will's butt.
she ran right past will's feet and passed the ball they were playing with towards landon. he swiped past his brothers to shoot it right into the back of the neck. samy and brody cheered while will groaned.
"you have a hurt shoulder, i'm not gonna go hard on you," the blonde complained and made an weak excuse for the loss.
"come on, babe. i'm not broken. i can still play. you don't gotta go easy on me," samy said.
"if you say that, i am gonna go hard on you and then end up hurting you more, so i'm good," will said as the six of them sit themselves back up.
"will hurting his girlfriend? ooh.." jagger said making everyone but will laugh.
"someone record it!" samy added into the teasing which will just shook his head to.
they played for the rest of the night until christina called them in for dinner. samy got to know the marleau's more while she told them about her life at michigan and the legacy her and her brothers were leaving on the field and on the ice.
once they finsihed, will and samy hung out downstairs for a bit before calling it a night knowing there was a lot to do tomorrow with will's extensive itinerary.
"i love those kids," samy commented from the bathroom as she brushed her teeth.
"they're really great. they're always bugging me to play with them," will smiled.
"that's so cute. they probably look up to you so much in addition to their dad. i hope you cherish that," the brunette hummed.
"oh, i do, don't worry. it keeps me motivated when they watch the games and see how i do."
the youngest hughes shut the light off and eagerly crawled into will's bed. this was her favorite part about getting to visit and sleeping in the same bed together. will was always so warm, so it was especially nice when they were in michigan or boston and it was below 30 degrees. even now it added that extra comfort as the girl snuggled in close to her boyfriend and wrapped her arms around his torso. the sleep came faster than it had all semester and she was out in minutes with will not too fard behind her.
will picked macklin up again the next day as they headed downtown to the place they would meet beckett for lunch. the younger brunette was pretty chipper as he climbed into the back, probably because it wasn't 7 in the morning for once when will picked him up.
"how was your night?" macklin wondered, definitely smirking.
"it was great, how was yours?" samy asked.
"mine was great, too. did you guys—"
"macklin" will warned before the boy finished his sentence. samy just giggled.
"i was gonna ask if the boys dragged you out to play driveway hockey," macklin kept talking even though they all knew that wasn't his original question.
"they did. i beat will in an overwhelming 6-2," samy proudly said.
"6-2? jeez, smitty. you got distracted or something?" the younger brunette burst into laughter making will's cheeks flush.
"shut up," will mumbled while samy poked his cheek.
"he's just mad i can still beat him with a hurt shoulder."
the three made mindless conversation as they rode into the city. samy caught macklin up on everything happening at mich and a few things on her brothers. macklin caught samy up on things she did and didn't hear from will about the sharks and life in san jose so far. it all sounded like it was going really well which made the girl happy.
will rolled them into a parking spot just outside of the restaurant, "i think he's almost here or is here," macklin checked his phone.
a bright orange range rover rolled into the parking space two down from where they were just as macklin said that. everyone knew it had to be beckett considering the orange matcbed the anaheim colors perfectly. they all got out and sure enough, beckett's tall frame got out of the car.
he smiled widely when he saw them. "hey guys!" the younger boy exclaimed as he locked the car and hurried over to them.
"hey, beck! it's been so long," samy hugged him first which he reciporcated into a tight squeeze.
"it's so good to see you in california. hey, celly, smitty," the other two boys took their turn saying hello.
"your car is awesome, by the way. orange is very fitting," samy pointed to the car.
"oh, thanks. my mom thought it would be fun for me to get it wrapped, so i did. pretty sick isn't it?" everyone nodded in agreement before heading inside to get a table.
the four ended up on the outside patio where macklin was the first to get conversation going and ask about beckett's season so far. the younger boy excitedly explained how much experience he's been gaining and getting to make friends with the older guys on the team. of course, samy asked him about trevor for jack's sake.
"oh, he's super funny and a great mentor. he's got a lot of good tips for all the rookies," beckett smiled.
"i'll make sure to tell jack that, then," samy chuckled.
"what about all of you? the sharks have been really moving up with the recent wins," the ducks player turned the conversation to the other two boys.
"yeah, i mean it's been awesome. we're all definitely improving which i think is really good. get to spend all my time with mack over here," will roughed up his friend's shoulder making the brunette pull away from his grasp.
"totally. i love annoying him. my favorite activity, actually," macklin grinned.
"michigan has always been doing really good this season. do you think you guys are making it to the finals again?" beckett turned the conversation to samy.
"i hope so. we've definitely turned the program around in the last year, so i'm excited to see what else we can do," the girl grinned.
"sorry about your shoulder, by the way. i know that must suck," the younger boy commented and samy just shrugged.
"it's not horrible anymore. i actually beat will in driveway hockey last night so that has to mean i'm doing better," the youngest hughes teased her boyfriend again.
"damn, i mean yeah. what was the score?"
"6-2."
"6-2? smitty, what happened?" beckett had the same reaction as macklin making him and samy laugh again.
"alright, alright, i get it. i suck when my girlfriend does any competitive sport against me," the blonde shook his head, but smiled nonetheless.
the three spent the rest of lunch catching up with one another before deciding to walk around downtown a bit since beckett nor samy had been before. macklin and will took the honors of pointing things out and taking them into the shops they thought were cool.
samy's eye was caught when they made it into a small boutique. she quickly admired all of the jewlery and clothes up on the racks. will watched the girl carefully, a soft smile on his lips as he followed her around the store and let her use him to carry the things she wanted to try on.
"hey, we'll be right back," will called when samy pulled him back into the dressing room. macklin and beckett just exchanged a glance before snickering to themselves and letting the couple be.
will just stood on the outside of the stall though, handing things to samy when she asked for them and rating the things she put on. she came out in a very pretty, short, maroon dress with little flowers as the straps. will's eyes never left her as she did a small spin and he basically eyed her up and down. the color reminded him of boston.
"i really like this, but i don't know when or where i'd wear it," samy said as she looked back at herself in the mirror.
"i could think of a time," will subconsciously licked his lips earning a bright blush from the girl in front of him.
"alright, lover boy. i'm gonna change and then we can keep going," samy chuckled and shut herself back into the stall.
even though there was no occasion, samy decided to buy the red dress. she was at the register quite literally about to tap her card when will quickly slipped in and beat her to it, the payment processing onto his card instead.
"will," the girl looked at him in surprise.
"what?" he grinned.
"you didn't have to pay," samy frowned. him paying for her ticket here was already enough.
"and?"
not wanting to get into it in the store, samy decided to let it go as will grabbed the bag before she could. "thank you," she said as they walked away.
"anything for you," he kissed her cheek and they met back up with beckett and macklin outside.
"wow, you're so whipped," macklin commented when he saw will carrying samy's bag for her. beckett snickered.
"you'll understand when you have a girlfriend," will hummed, not even caring about the teasing anymore.
they stopped by a few more places before deciding to head back. everyone hugged beckett and made promises to see one another again and that beckett would try to see samy when the ducks came to detroit in a few weeks.
for november, it was surprisingly hot in san jose, so they rolled the windows down as soon as they were back in the car. will let samy control the aux, so she scrolled through her spotify looking for the right playlist as will got back onto the road to home.
one her favorites came up first which happened to be tate mcae's nwest song, two hands. the beat quickly brought the mood up and it felt perfect with the windows down. she started singing the lyrics, sticking her hand out to catch the breeze, imagining she was in the music video.
macklin and will nodded along also big fans of tate's music. samy's hair blew everywhere from the wind and she didn't see the way will's gaze kept flicking to her as she sang along. one of his guilty pleasures was listenng to tate mcrae's songs and it was the cherry on top listening to it with his girlfriend right beside him who loved her music just as much.
will thought of the lyrics, specifically the way samy sang them, especially when tate sang "i want them all to see, you look good on top of me." the blonde's mind ran a bit wild and he tried keeping his thoughts under control knowing this wasn't the time to be thinking of that.
but boy, it was hard not to and will wondered if samy was having the same thoughts.
they dropped macklin back off and will quite literally sped back to the house, samy a bit oblivious to the thoughts running through her boyfriend's head.
much to will's luck, the house was empty when they got in. he remembered that jagger had a basketball game and the older boys were still at practice, so he was gonna use all the time he had and pulled samy to the stairs.
"what's up with you?" samy laughed as she followed the hockey player into his room, lifting an eyebrow when he shut and locked the door behind them.
"i really wanna kiss you," the boy mumbled and then closed the space between them without letting samy respond.
he held her face in her hands as she let him kiss her. it was quick but passionate as the two melted into one another. samy felt will's eagerness as he slipped his tongue into her mouth and sucked her bottom lip into his.
"you're so beautiful," will mumbled between kissing and pulling back an inch for air.
"not that i'm complaining, but what's sparked this?" samy hummed as she ran her finger dow his sharp jaw.
"something about that song and you singing it had my head spinning," will confessed. the brunette smirked, a bit surprised to hear this.
"oh really?"
"figured we could test it out, you know?"
———SMUT STARTS HERE———
a wide smile spread across both of their faces as they reconnect their lips. will pushed samy back onto the bed where she laid down and he hovered above her. he remembered her shoulder, so he forced himself to slow down a bit so he wouldn't hurt her. he leaned on her good side as they made out.
samy's hands tangled into will's curls and a soft moan left his lips into hers. they really took this moment in, feeling every part of each other pushing against one another. will's hands curved around samy's hips as he worked her hips againsy his own, pressing his hardening dick against her thigh.
"shit, baby," the blonde moaned out. he was really trying to take his time knowing he didn't wanna hurt the girl even worse, but it was hard when his brain was so wired up at the moment.
samy moaned at the feeling of will's excitement agains her leg. one of her hands fell down to his chest again where she tugged at his shirt as indication that she wanted it off. the boy obliged, sitting up to peel the material off and exposing his very toned chest to her.
"every time i'm wowed by you," samy hummed as she admired will's six pack and toned muscles across his upper half.
"i'm flattered," he grinned, reconnecting their lips.
he helped samy get her own shirt off which revealed the pretty bralette underneath. will had such a bad thing for her tits as he immediately dipped his head down and started sucking the plump flesh. the girl giggled, wrapping her fingers into his curls again to give occasional tugs.
it was a really good thing samy wasn't playing at the moment so will could leave his hickeys or love bites he liked to call them now.
"shit, baby," the girl moaned when will brought his lips to her nipple. he prided himself in her reaction and sucked harder while going and back and forth between the two.
samy began arching her back off the bed into will as he hit all the right places and her skin became littered with dark bruises that only he would know were there.
that thought had will's cock twitching in the restrictive material of his shorts and a groan leaving his lips at the feeling of samy's bare tits pressing against his chest.
"fuck, babe," he muttered, pulling his lips away.
will started moving down. he placed little kisses all the way down samy's stomach until he reached her shorts. he smirked when he saw the look of desperation on her face for him to take them off.
"want these off?" he wondered and the girl nodded.
"please."
will pulled them down her legs where that pink fucking thong that drove the boy crazy hid underneath. his mouth watered at the sight, getting flashbacks to august. "god, i love this fucking thing," he grumbled, hooking his fingers around the band and pulling to make a snap against her skin.
"wore it just for you," a smirk graced her lips making will shake his head.
"i fucking love you," will leaned down to press little kisses around her hip bone that eventually turned into him sucking hickeys because these were the places no one would ever see but him and the thought drove the boy more crazy.
the little whimpers escpaing samy's lips was doing nothing to help the problem in will's pants that he tried to desperately ignore. he wanted to focus on samy and her pleasure, trying to forget about his own for now.
"fuck, you're dripping," will said when he pressed his fingers against the thin, very wet material of her thong.
"you're not the only one with eager thoughts," samy smiled lazily as she watched her boyfriend push her the material to the side so he could slide his fingers against her.
she threw her head back into the pillow when he started pushing them into her warm heat.
"fuck, will," a moan escaped her lips.
"god, you're so wet, baby. fuck," will slid two fingers in, slowly pumping in and out and in and out to get samy ready for the real thing.
he figured he needed to get her really ready because they didn't do anything when he visited michigan considering she just had surgery. this time was a completely different story though and it was safe to say they were both craving this.
"oh my god, will. faster, please," samy begged a little.
will pumped faster before dipping his head down and replacing his fingers with his tongue. the sensation made the girl jump a little, not expecting his tongue. the surprise was quickly replaced with immense pleasure though as will worked his mouth around.
"s-shit, will. oh my god," she grabbed his curls and tugged, basically using him to move him where she wanted.
considering will didn't do this a lot, he was pretty fucking good at it. he took samy's moans as a sign that he was doing it right and let her control him with tugs on his curls. she pushed her hips further against the boy's tongue, her orgasm close.
"fuck, will. i'm gonna cum," she cried.
"cum for me, baby," will encouraged, sucking harder.
the feeling sent the soccer player over the edge. she released right on will's lips and tongue, tugging his hair hard. the blonde smiled, licking his lips as he sat back up.
"did so good for me, baby," the blonde praised, leaning down to place a gentle kiss to her lips. she flushed, slowly coming down from her high.
will leaned himself against her again and samy felt how hard he was now, still straining through the tight material of his shorts. his hips jerked forward when samy rubbed herself up against him.
"s-shit. i'm so hard for you," will moaned into her mouth.
"better do something about that, huh?"
the hockey player sat back on his heels as he unzipped his shorts, puling them and his underwear down in one go. his cock sprang up, the tip red and leaking some precum already. samy's mouth watered seeing her boyfriend's thick, throbbing cock before her.
"f-fuck," the blonde muttered as he pumped himself a few times. he leaned forward to fish out a condom from his nightstand, quickly breaking the wrapper and rolling it on.
"need to be inside you," he mumbled, eyes back on his girlfriend.
"want you to fuck me, will," samy begged a bit also eager for him to put it in.
will hovered over her again, lining himself up with her entrance. he slowly pushed in, ducking his head into the crook of her neck. they both moaned out at the first contact. the urge to cum already so strong.
"oh fuck, baby. you feel so good," will groaned, slowly rocking himself in and fighting all of his urges to just poud into her. he needed to be slow for her sake and not hurting her.
"yeah, baby. fuck, you're so big," samy moaned into his ear, her fingers scratching up his back as she let the pleasure overtake the slight pain since they hadn't done this in so long.
her walls sucked him in and he paused when he bottomed out to give the brunette a second to catch her breath. he kissed her lips, struggling to hold onto his self-control and not pound his hips.
"tell me i can move," the way she squeezed around him had his urge to cum slip fast.
"yes, move, please," samy nodded, so he started rocking his hips back and forth in a steady rhythm.
they moaned out as the pace continued building and will littered more kisses across her chest and lips. her tits pressed against his own chest again and will moaned at the feeling of her nipples rocking and bouncing against his skin with each trust.
"fuck, baby. oh—you feel so good—fuck," he wasn't gonna last. "you're squeezing me so good, practically sucking me in," the boy continued.
"feels so good, baby. shit. keep doing that," samy praised him as well, her grip getting harder on his biceps.
will was rocking his hips at a strong pace that moved the bed along with them. he was so glad no one was home right now or else he'd never be able to show his face ever again.
"mm, fuck yeah. oh, fuck yeah. you're gonna make me cum," will blabbered, the only thought in his mind was the one lyric and how he was quite literally on top of samy.
"cum for me will. wanna cum with you," samy got out.
little beads of sweat began building between their bodies and will directed his gaze to where he disappeared in and out of her. the way she sucked him so tight was gonna send the boy over the edge as his self-control slipped away.
"fuck. fuck. i'm gonna cum..i-i'm gonna fucking cum. please say you're close," the blonde cried, his hips now practically pounding into her even though he told himself to take it easy.
"i'm so close, baby. so close."
he felt her clenching around his length which meant she was about to cum. will thrusted a bit harder, hoping to push her over the edge for a second time. she buried her head into the pillow, her chest risng again to push against will's. he groaned, mesmerized with the way her tits bounced back and forth with each snap of his hips.
the sensation sent samy over the edge. she moaned loudly, releasing around will's throbbing cock that had been waiting for her to go first. the tight clench and squeeze sent the blonde over the edge too. he snapped his hips one last time into her, releasing into the condom with a moan.
"ah, fuckkk baby. jesus christ. fhhuck," the blonde's hips twitched, his sweaty body collapsing onto hers as he spilled all of his cum into the condom.
samy dragged her hand through his curls, grinning while peppering kisses across his face. "so good, will. did so good."
"fucking love you so much. we should put that song on more often," will smirked, placing his own soft kisses across her face.
he slowly pulled out, pealing the condom off and running it to the bathroom. he came back with a towel to clean up the rest of their mess. samy watched lovingly as her boyfriend cleaned her up before snuggling into her side for a moment.
"too bad i can't leave any bites on you," samy hummed when she saw how bare will's neck and chest looked compared to hers. they didn't want to risk fans seeing the marks during the season.
"you still can lower than my shoulders," the blonde smirked.
the brunette hated not returning the favor, so she pushed will onto his back and dipped her head below her shoulders which definitely resulted in will getting hard again and a second round.
———SMUT ENDS HERE———
on the last night samy was there, will planned a fancy date night at one of the restaurants downtown. she wore the dress she just bought and it was a miracle they even left the house because when will saw her come out of the bathroom, let's just say his mind ran wild again.
the atmosphere was definitely very high end and it felt like they were amongst the rich people who lived in the area on a saturday night out.
"i'm glad you came out," will grinned.
"thanks for buying my ticket again. i really appreciate it," samy grinned back.
"there's a lot more where that came from," the girl rolled her eyes a bit at his words despite the smile still on her lips.
"i'd have you out here every weekend if i could, you know that," will swirled some of his drink around in the glass, a mix between a smile and smirk on his features.
"yeah, i know. i wish. i'll probably see you soon though. when are you guys playing detroit?"
"in a few weeks i think," the hockey player hummed, the schedule not on the top of his head.
"so you'll see me then and maybe by then i'll be able to actually play," the girl scoffed a bit, but will just shook his head.
"i know it sucks, but you've been doing really good. you're gonna be back on the field in no time," he grabbed her hand from across the table. the gesture made her blush.
"i know, i know. i guess i have to think of new hobbies or something," they shared a laugh.
after dinner, they walked around downtown some more just trying to take everything in and spend every second they could together before samy's flight back home tomrorow. granted, will was still going crazy over the maroon dress hugging all the right places on his girlfriend's body, especially because it was so boston college colors, so their walk around downtown didn't last for long.
will was impatient and quite literally eager to have his girlfriend one more time because she needed to leave. his lips were on hers when they made it into the parking garage and he was pushing her against the car.
he knew the house would be full when they got back, so will did the one thing he promised macklin he'd never do—have sex in his car.
it was the best sex will ever had in the car though.
they got to the airport close to 6 in the morning, even earlier than when morning practice started. samy's flight was at 9 though and she wanted to be there early, so will got himself up to drive her and macklin tagged along to say goodbye too.
the drop off line gave the three deja-vu as will parked to the side and got out to help with the luggage. macklin yawned, rubbing the sleep from his eye as he got out too.
the two boys stood in front of the entrance where samy was about to disappear into.
"alright, i'll go first since smitty will take decades to let you go," macklin took the lead by opening his arms. "it was good seeing you, hughesy. we'll see you super soon."
"it was soo good seeing you, mack. keep will in line for me, yeah?" the girl joked a bit, eyeing the blonde behind them who playfully rolled his eyes.
"obviously, i will," they laughed and then macklin pulled away.
samy's gaze fell to will's sad one. she opened his arms for him where he buried his face into the crook of her neck, squeezing her tightly. "i'm gonna miss you so much."
"me too, but you'll be michigan in just a few weeks," she tried looking on the positives for them or else will would just make it really sad.
"i know, but it seems so far away," the blonde frowned.
"it'll go fast, i promise. i love you," the youngest hughes pulled back to see will's pretty face. he smiled, breathing her in one last time.
"i love you, too baby. get back safe. text me when you land," he hummed and she nodded.
they hugged one last time before samy pulled back because if she didn't they'd never let go of each other. she waved to the boys before heading inside. they waved back, will blowing her kisses until they couldn't see her anymore and some car behind them honked to get moving.
"fuck off," will said as him and macklin climbed back in.
they were basically half-asleep still, so much that when the brunette got back into the passenger seat, he didn't realize how pushed back it was so he basically fell onto his back when he got in. it caught both of them off guard.
"what the fuck happened to this seat," macklin grumbled as he fixed it so it was more upright and not as pushed back.
the realization hit him faster than will remembered the reasoning and then macklin's jaw dropped open.
"HOLY SHIT! you fucked in here! oh my god, oh my god, oh my god," the younger brunette began freaking out and will internally face palmed.
"dude, chill. chill. i promise i cleaned everything," will tried calming his friend down.
"dude, i can't believe this. oh my god, that's fucking disgusting. you said you'd never fuck in here!" the boy exclaimed.
"we had no other options! i swear it's clean," will defended himself. macklin didn't have anything else to say except shaming his head and the car behind them honked it's horn again.
will quickly drove out of the line, suddenly embarrassed that he forgot to fix the seat. he also worried macklin actually was mad until the brunette asked:
"so on a scale of 1-10 how good was it?"
there it was. it wasn't even 7 in the morning yet.
"dude," will shook his head.
"what? i feel like i deserve to know after you betrayed me like that."
"it was actually really fucking good. 10 for sure," will gave in with his answer.
"you know what? hell yeah. high five me for that one," macklin held his hand up. the blonde smacked it, a content smile on his lips now.
"now drive fast so i can get out of this car and go back to bed."

Tumblr media
I grew up in this town for as long as i can remember, i wasn’t introverted, but i wasn’t an extrovert either. I spoke when i had to, leaving me with a group of friends here and there. Beginning high-school was another story, i still had my small group of friends including this one girl Momo. I don’t exactly know how i became friends with her but shes been the friendliest since i could remember.
But i find myself drowning in the sinkhole of over working, and i think she could tell because she recommended a sleepover/hangout with another one of her friends that she thought i would like. Momo is the only one i can truly be myself around so how can i expect her friend to even like me. I open to learning many subjects, although i don’t pick a favorite i like things about conspiracies or random theories to keep me up thinking.
My phone dings with a message, its from Momo
Momo👻: I’ll be at your place around 7! My friend is still coming over, trust me you and him are going to be great friends.
Me: Him? He’s a guy? You must be setting something up
Momo👻: Well I’m just saying if things between you guys progress than it is what it is but thats NOT what I’m trying to do at all🤣
Me: What if he’s really rude or something i cant handle more stress I’m too tired for this, if i wanted to have a guy friend then i would have asked.
Momo👻: No he’s not like that he’s a total nerd, he would never do anything harmful. Ive been friends with him for awhile, i talk to him about aliens and stuff all the time
Me: What makes you think i wanna deal with boys at all. I’ll try to be friends with him i guess but if he does anything that i can’t respect he’s getting out of my home
Momo👻: Alrightt no need to be so stuck up, your stressed just relax for a bit.
I stare up at the starry night and then bring my eyes to the clock, Momo is a few minutes late. But as a coincidence, she knocks at my door as soon as i have that thought. I go down the stairs to see her open the door, hmm must have been unlocked, but i remember locking.
Maybe i should be nice, ill try my best too. I mean she wasn’t worried about him or anything. Momo swings the door open giving me a big hug, i look behind her to see a boy. We make eye contact and he looks away timidly and fiddles with his hair. Momo knew i had a thing for nerds, she’s definitely setting something up.
(I was a little scared to introduce myself though…)
“This is my friend i told you about, his name is okarun!!”
He looks back up shyly, extended his hand to give me a hand shake. I give him a handshake back, flashing the tiniest smile to show the least bit of comfort. He steps closer to me to whisper something quiet enough not for Momo to hear
“M—my name is actually Ken takakura…” I nod my head to make sure Momo doesn’t think anything is up, i wonder why she calls him Okarun though. Momo yawns making her way to the living room and into the kitchen, opening the fridge to look for her favorite drink i usually keep at my place.
“Hey…y/n you don’t have any more of that drink..”
“Sorry, I’ll buy some more soon.” She walks back over to the entrance of the home where me and Ken were still standing awkwardly “its alright, speaking of which, the gas station is only a 5 minutes walk from here. I’ll go run and buy some!! My grandma gave me some money incase i wanted to get snacks!”
I look at her in despair. I whisper yell at her before she walks out the door “You’re leaving??!? Now???! Me alone with a boy??!!”
“Cmonn I’m gonna be back I’ll make it quick.” She gives me a sly wink before shutting my own door at my face. I turn around slowly, lifting my head up to look at Ken embarrassingly. He was looking at me but he shifted his gaze to some random spot in the house. I didn’t want to stand here forever..
“We can just go to my room for now while we wait…”
I guide him up the stairs towards my room, i leave background music playing to calm me and i accidentally forgot to turn it off. We enter my room and his eyes lighten up like a puppy. I had a fluffy rug, thick bed sheets many tiny figures and posters, with a neat desk and dim lights. He felt a comforting feeling as he heard the music that was left playing.
He looks around and he notices i have a book on my desk titled “conspiracy’s and theories #1: Aliens? Are they real?” I sat on my bed and i saw him approach the book for a closer inspection, his eyes glow as he looks up at me.
He realizes he touched something without asking and he places the book down quickly while fiddling with his hair again and re-adjusting his glasses. He looks down at the floor in embarrassment with a blushing face.
“I have the same book..d—do you like…aliens..?”
My goodness he is so cute. I snap out of my daydreaming after staring at him.“Well…i like reading about them. They seem cool to me and i like the unknown. I watch a-lot of documents.”
He looks up at me, with his hand still in his hair. “Do you know anything about…UAP’s and UFO’s..? I softly replied, “Yes i do read about them a little.” His eyes were in full on dull mode, he was so ready to rant. I realized he was still standing, and i was on my bed. He’s not a bad guy at all, he’s just really shy, well— so am i.
I pat the spot next to me signaling him to sit down next to me. I try to get more comfortable, i sat in a criss cross position. He looks at me with his face flushing again and he slowly makes his way to the bed, he sat in the same criss cross position facing me. His hand still in his hair obviously, his head down, he muttered…
“There have been many sightings of aliens..I—I’ve done alot of research. I should have brought my b—books but i thought that you weren’t really going to like….me..”
“Oh, i thought the same about you…that you were going to be kind of rude to me. But you like the same things as me.”
He hesitantly brings his head up to make eye contact with me, his face a pink tone due to the blush. My open window blows a cool air into the room, moonlight hitting his eyes and shining them. I avert my gaze to him to see him pondering into my eyes, his lips part as he was going to say something until we could hear the door open. It was Momo, that was really quick.
We rush back downstairs to see her with multiple bags, more than what she said she was going to buy. “Oh man, i really should have called you!! They had an amazing deal and i got so many snacks for half off!”
Me and Ken look at each-other, we slightly giggle at the goofiness of Momo. Momo ran up the stairs and came back down with a giant blanket from my closet, she places it on the couch with the snacks she bought on the table
“Cmon guys let’s watch a movie!!” I sat down with Ken trying not to be to close to make me uncomfortable, through out the movies we watched i could feel him land his attention on me. But he was very slick with it, i could hardly tell.
At the end of the night after all the movies, Momo and Ken helped clean up. Momo grabbed all of her belongings and so did Ken and they were about to leave. “Bye y/n! See you tomorrow!!”
“B—bye…” i didn’t want it to end like this… “Okarun.” He turns around and looks at me with confusion and a bit of fluster. “Could I see your phone for a sec?” He hands me his unlocked phone and i quickly type my number and my name into a new contact space and hand him his phone back. He looks at what I’ve done and his face goes from pink to a rose red. He looks up at me like his face was about to explode
It seems like he wanted to say thank you, but Momo pulled him out of the door in a hurry. The door shut on me again, but instead..i don’t feel lonely anymore. I feel a warmth entered my soul.
We could be friends…

--
Tommy made space for your pain like it was something sacred. He didn’t flinch away from it. He didn’t try to fix it with rushed words or smother it with false promises. He just stayed close– quiet, constant, steady in a way you hadn’t even known how much you needed until he gave it to you without asking.
He noticed things before you even said them. The way your hand drifted toward your temple just seconds before the ache began to pulse behind your eyes. The way your fingers curled against your ribs on the bad days, subtly, protectively. The way your breaths would catch, shallow and uneven, whenever the room got too loud or when a door slammed too hard, dragging you back to places you didn’t want to be.
Sometimes you didn’t even realize it yourself– how your posture stiffened, how your eyes unfocused, how your hand trembled slightly at your side. But Tommy always did. And somehow, he never made it feel like weakness.
You were growing dependent on the way he moved through a room now– quieter, softer, like the very air around him had adjusted to make space for you. He never hovered, never made you feel suffocated. But he was always there, just close enough for you to lean into if you needed it. His touch came gently, never rushed, fingers brushing lightly over your back, his hand coming to rest against your shoulder, thumb grazing slow circles into your skin until your breathing slowed.
He didn’t ask questions when you winced. Didn’t press when your hand drifted to your temple in quiet discomfort. He simply adjusted, dimmed the lamps, turned down the radio, sat beside you in silence until the pain passed. Or he’d get up, fingers brushing your forehead, muttering, “Sit down, I’ll get your tablets.”
And you found, over time, that it wasn’t just the medicine or the rest that soothed you– it was him. It was the way he kept showing up, again and again, without needing to be asked.
Without ever once making you feel like a burden.
You stopped trying to hide your pain, your fatigue, and your bad days from him. You didn’t pretend you were fine just to avoid the flicker of worry in his eyes. Because the truth was, you’d come to crave that tenderness, the way he tucked you under his arm at night, pressed kisses to your shoulder in the dark, murmured things into your hair like “You’re alright now,” and “I’ve got you.”
And he did.
Slowly, you’d started easing your way back into work. Not full shifts– just a few hours at a time, usually when the Garrison was quiet. Harry never pushed. Polly had all but sworn she'd throttle you herself if you overdid it again. But it was Tommy who was always there, without fail.
Even when he had other business to tend to, he found a reason to be nearby. Sitting at the end of the bar with a paper in one hand and a whiskey glass he barely touched. Sometimes he stayed behind the scenes, speaking to Harry about stock or deliveries. Sometimes he just stood quietly near the doorway, arms folded across his chest, eyes on you like a sentinel.
He never said it outright, never hovered too close, but you always knew he was watching. And somehow, that made all the difference.
Because there were still moments when the noise in the pub grew too loud, when laughter and clinking glasses blurred into one hollow sound, echoing in your ears like the roar of a tunnel. There were moments when someone’s voice snapped too sharply, when a glass dropped, when a door slammed too hard. There were moments when your vision blurred and the world went distant– when your hands froze mid-motion and your breath hitched in your throat.
But Tommy always saw it.
He didn’t need words or confessions. He knew the signs now, the way your shoulders stiffened, the way your fingers clenched too tightly around a glass, the way your eyes lost their focus for just a second too long.
He’d appear beside you before you could even try to brush it off.
Sometimes it was just a hand brushing the small of your back. A low voice in your ear: “Let's get some air, love.”
Sometimes it was the press of a glass of water into your palm, the grounding weight of his fingers over yours.
And sometimes, on the harder days, he’d take the tray from your hands without a word and simply say, “Time to go home.”
You never argued anymore.
Because you knew better now– he wasn’t taking something from you. He was giving you a place to rest. A home amidst the chaos.
Your bad days didn’t vanish overnight. Instead, they faded, slowly, soft around the edges like an old bruise, tender but no longer sharp. The kind of healing that didn’t announce itself, but made itself known in the quiet, everyday ways. A morning without nausea. A shift without a headache. A night without waking from a scream caught in your throat.
It had been a little over two weeks since the attack when you got your stitches out at home.
You’d refused to go back to the hospital. You’d been adamant, stubborn, insisting you could handle it yourself. Tommy had argued, of course. Said it wasn’t safe, that it should be a doctor. But you’d seen the way his jaw clenched when the word hospital left your mouth, the flicker of something haunted behind his eyes. Maybe he hated the thought of going back there just as much as you did. Maybe that’s why, after a long stare and a muttered curse, he finally relented.
You sat in front of the fireplace with a clean towel laid across your lap, the small surgical scissors set neatly beside it. Tommy hovered behind you, tense, arms crossed, while Finn fidgeted nervously beside you with a bottle of antiseptic and trembling hands.
“You sure about this?” Tommy asked for the fifth time, the tension in his voice betraying his calm exterior. He stood stiff behind you, arms crossed, brow furrowed with that ever-present concern he tried so hard to keep tucked behind his sharp edges.
“Positive,” you said firmly, though your voice came quieter now. You reached back to pull your hair aside, fingertips brushing over the row of delicate stitches near your scalp. The skin was still tender there, faintly bruised, the area around it pink and healing.
“Do it like I showed you,” you said gently to Finn, trying to inject some reassurance into your tone– for his sake more than yours.
Finn nodded, eyes wide with concentration as he held the small scissors in trembling fingers. His brows were drawn tight in focus, lips moving in a near-whisper as he muttered each step to himself like a prayer. “Just one snip… then the next… hold steady…”
His hands were gentle, careful, each movement slow and deliberate as he leaned in. The first snip made your jaw clench, a sharp tug of discomfort rippling through your scalp– but you didn’t flinch.
Tommy’s hand found your shoulder. It was solid and grounding. Not pushing, not pulling, just there. A quiet presence, steady as stone. His thumb brushed once against the fabric of your shirt, a silent question wrapped in the gentlest of touches: Are you alright? Do I need to stop this?
But you didn’t answer. You didn’t need to. You were holding steady, and so was he.
Still, he didn’t move far. He hovered behind Finn like a sentry, sharp and still, his eyes locked on every movement with unrelenting focus. Watching every cut with hawk-eyed precision, his jaw clenched tight, shoulders taut with barely contained tension. His fingers twitched at his sides, like it was physically painful not to take the scissors himself. Like he was counting every heartbeat between snips, each one a test of his patience, his trust, his control.
Every breath you took, he tracked it. Every flinch, every wince, every flicker of discomfort in your face– he saw it all. And though he didn’t say a word, the protectiveness rolled off him like smoke from a slow burn. Fierce. Quiet. Unshakable.
The ordeal wasn’t painless. Some stings still made your eyes water, sharp and sudden, biting deeper than you expected. You clenched your jaw through them, fingers gripping the edge of the table until your knuckles ached. One stitch tugged too much and you cursed under your breath, a quiet hiss of pain slipping out before you could stop it.
Tommy’s hand tensed instinctively on your shoulder, his thumb brushing a soothing arc into your skin, like he wanted to absorb the sting himself. Finn froze for a second, eyes darting to Tommy’s, and you caught the flicker of panic in his face.
But you nodded, gave him a small, tight smile. “It’s alright, keep going.”
So he continued– slower this time, steadier.
It was bearable. But more than that, it was yours. Your threshold. Your moment. A quiet reclamation of something that had been taken from you, torn from you in the dark. You hadn’t had control over much lately, but this… this was something you got to choose. To do on your terms.
When the final stitch fell into Finn’s palm, he let out a breath like he’d been holding it for days. “That’s all of them,” he said quietly, pride and relief tangled in his voice.
You nodded, swallowing the thick lump in your throat. A faint sheen of sweat clung to your brow, your pulse thrumming in your ears. And for just a moment, your spine softened, your body leaning instinctively back against Tommy’s chest.
He caught you without hesitation, like he’d been waiting for it. His hand slid to your upper back, warm and solid, anchoring you in place. His other arm came around you gently, cradling you in a loose but protective hold, steadying you before you even realized you’d needed it. You let your head rest there for just a breath, just long enough to feel safe again.
Later that evening, the house felt warmer than it had in weeks– not just from the fire crackling in the hearth, but from something else. Something lighter. Something whole.
You were curled on the sofa with a cup of tea in your hands, the ache in your head a dull hum rather than a sharp throb. The tension that had clung to your shoulders for so long seemed to have loosened just a little, the heaviness in your ribs easing with each passing hour.
Across the room, Finn was in the middle of animatedly retelling the story to Arthur and John, hands gesturing wildly as he reenacted every snip of the scissors.
“And I held the scissors just like she showed me, right? And I made sure not to cut too close–.”
John leaned back, raising a brow. “And you’re proud of this, are you?”
Arthur barked out a laugh. “Jesus Christ. You really let an eleven-year-old near your head with a pair of scissors?”
You lifted a brow over the rim of your tea. “He’s nearly twelve.”
“Oh, well then,” Arthur deadpanned. “That makes it so much better.”
John nearly choked on his drink, grinning over the rim of his glass. “Thought you had more sense than that, Doc,” he teased. “We pegged you for the clever one.”
You rolled your eyes, but the warmth in your smile betrayed you.
“Next time,” John added, “just hand him a bone saw and tell him to take out your appendix out while he’s at it. Our Finn’s like a proper surgeon now.”
Tommy, leaning in the doorway with a cigarette between his fingers, exhaled slowly. “She insisted,” he said, his voice dry but laced with a quiet fondness.
Arthur gave a mock sigh, shaking his head. “Stubborn and reckless. She really does belong in this family.”
You chuckled softly, the sound settling in your chest like a balm. There was something comforting in the noise, in the way they bickered and teased and filled the room with something that almost felt like peace.
And God, how badly you wanted to belong to it. To all of it.
To the way Ada rolled her eyes fondly when Arthur got too loud, to Polly’s sharp glances that said more than most people could with words, to the way John always seemed to carry a joke on the tip of his tongue, even when the world was heavy. To the way Finn beamed under their praise, soaking in every bit of it like sunlight.
You wanted to be part of that rhythm, that mess, that strange, beautiful chaos that somehow still managed to feel like home.
A family bound not just by blood, but by something deeper. Something forged in the fire and hardened by loss. Something you’d never had before, not really.
And when you looked across the room– when your eyes met Tommy’s, still watching you through the curl of cigarette smoke, you knew he saw it, too. That want. That ache to belong.
His mouth curled slightly, barely-there, but just enough.
You didn’t need him to say anything. You felt it in the way his eyes softened. In the way his fingers twitched like they wanted to reach for you. In the way he always had a place ready beside him, whether it was at the table, in a quiet room, or in the heart of everything that mattered.
Dinner was easy. Warm. Polly dished out stew and bread, filling everyone’s bowls with that same stern affection that made you feel more like a family than a gang. The table was cluttered with mismatched cutlery, chipped mugs, and laughter that carried through the cracks in the walls. It was the kind of evening that warmed the walls from the inside out. The fire had been stoked again, wine poured freely, and Polly had even allowed herself to lean back in her chair, half-smiling as Ada recounted something sharp and clever that had happened at work.
Now, everyone had settled into the living room, plates cleared, laughter lingering in the air like smoke.
Tommy stood near the mantle, a glass of whiskey in his hand, letting the quiet hum of conversation wash over him. He wasn’t speaking much. He didn’t need to.
His eyes were fixed across the room– on you.
You were curled on the couch, legs tucked up beneath you, a blanket draped across your lap. Arthur and John were telling some god awful story about a pub brawl years ago– half of it likely embellished, the other half completely fabricated, and you were laughing. Fully, properly laughing. Head tilted back slightly, eyes squinting, a hand pressing gently to your ribs from the lingering soreness, but laughing all the same.
And just like that, a knot inside his chest loosened.
He hadn’t realized he’d been holding it there for so long, weeks now, maybe longer. The weight of watching you fight through the pain, through the nightmares, through the quiet moments when you thought no one saw you falter. He’d been bracing for the worst, living half on edge since the day he carried you out of that basement.
But now, watching you smile like that– he felt something soften inside him.
It wasn’t just relief. It was gratitude. Fierce and quiet and overwhelming.
His fingers tightened slightly around his glass, anchoring himself to the present moment. To the sound of your voice mingling with his brothers’. To the way your eyes lit up when you leaned toward Finn to nudge him with some teasing remark. To the way you fit here, like you always had, like you always would.
Polly caught his gaze from across the room. Didn’t say anything. Just raised her glass slightly and gave him a knowing look.
Tommy finally wandered into the room, quiet and unassuming as ever, settling beside you on the arm of the couch. He didn’t say much, just let his hand brush gently over your shoulder before placing a light kiss to the top of your head. You leaned into him instinctively, your body curling closer beneath the weight of his touch. That small contact settled something in you again, like a thread stitching itself back in place.
Later, after everyone had gone home, and the house had settled into a quieter hum, you stood in the doorway of the kitchen, looking out into the now-empty living room. The fire was a soft glow now, flickering low. Tommy was there, leaning back in his armchair, sleeves rolled to his elbows, his shirt a little rumpled from the evening.
You walked toward him, barefoot and tired, but lighter than you had been in weeks. He looked up when you approached, reaching out a hand without saying a word.
You took it. He pulled you into his lap, arms curling around your waist, your legs folding into the side of the chair as you rested your head against his shoulder. His fingers found your ribs, just above where the bruises used to be, his touch featherlight, reverent.
“No headache tonight?” he murmured, voice low against your temple.
You shook your head, your fingers playing gently with the buttons of his shirt. “No. Not tonight.”
“Good,” he said, and you felt the tension slip from his body, just a little. “That’s good.”
You sat like that for a while, wrapped in the kind of silence that didn’t need filling. No ghosts. No shadows. Just warmth and breath and the slow, steady rhythm of healing.
When he finally carried you to bed, you didn’t flinch. You just let yourself lean into him, safe and at ease in his arms.
The room was dark except for the glow from the hallway, and he didn’t bother switching on a light. He set you down gently on the edge of the bed, his hands lingering at your waist as you slid beneath the covers. He climbed in behind you, settling in close, wrapping an arm around your middle like it was second nature now.
You melted into the warmth of him, your head resting against his chest, your fingers idly toying with the fabric of his shirt. You were already slipping into sleep, eyelids heavy, breath steady, when you thought you heard it– something quiet, barely above a whisper.
“Marry me.”
You didn’t move, didn’t respond. Maybe he hadn’t even said it at all. Maybe it was just the echo of some distant dream, a thread of longing spun into the quiet.
But the words lingered in your mind, warm and weightless, curling beneath your ribs.
Marry me.
Your heart fluttered, soft and full. You imagined it– what it might feel like to be his wife. To belong to him in every way. To wear his name like a promise, to wake up every day and fall asleep every night beside him, knowing you were his, and he was yours.
The thought settled gently around you, a hazy comfort.
And as sleep pulled you under, you let yourself believe it– just for tonight.
You woke the next morning to a soft, hazy light creeping in through the curtains. You were still curled against him, his hand resting over your stomach, breath slow and even beside you.
That dream– you remembered it now, vague and hazy around the edges. You’d dreamt of him holding you close, whispering something warm against your ear, something that made your chest ache even now. God, you’d dreamt that he asked you to marry him. It had felt so real. So impossibly soft. You’d drifted off with that wish pressed into your bones, aching in your chest long after sleep took you.
For a moment, you just watched him.
The early morning light filtered faintly through the curtains, casting a soft glow over his features. His lashes rested against his cheeks, long and dark, the faintest shadow of stubble dusting his jaw. That familiar crease between his brows lingered, even in sleep– a quiet reminder of the weight he always carried, even when the world was silent.
You let your eyes trace him, every line, every detail etched into your memory. The curve of his mouth, the slight parting of his lips, the way one hand still rested possessively at your waist beneath the blanket, fingers curled as if he feared you might disappear in the night.
Your heart ached with something quiet and full– something that swelled in your chest, too tender to name. And then, gently, without thinking, you leaned up and pressed a kiss to the corner of his mouth. Soft. Careful. Reverent.
His lips twitched beneath yours, just slightly.
You smiled faintly to yourself and kissed him again, just a whisper against the edge of his jaw, where his stubble grazed your skin. Then a third, slower kiss to the hollow just below his cheekbone. You could smell the faint trace of smoke still clinging to him, the warmth of his skin beneath your lips.
Another kiss, featherlight and lingering at the corner of his mouth again, and this time you felt his breath catch, subtle, but there.
His hand shifted at your waist, fingers flexing lightly. His brow twitched. Then his eyes opened, just barely.
“Morning,” you whispered.
Tommy blinked slowly, still pulling himself into wakefulness. “Morning.”
You hesitated, then gave a small, sleepy smile.
Tommy shifted beside you, then, groaning softly as he wrapped both arms around your waist and pulled you gently into his chest, burying his face against your neck. You laughed under your breath as your hands found his shoulders.
Then his voice came, low and gruff from sleep, brushing against your skin.
“You know,” he murmured, “how you mentioned not being part of this family last week.”
You stilled slightly, eyes lifting as your heart kicked in your chest. His arms tightened around you just a little, and he leaned back enough to look at you properly, his hair tousled, eyes heavy-lidded but clear now. Focused. Sure.
“I want you to be,” he said simply, earnestly. “I want you to marry me.”
You stared at him, lips parting, breath catching in your throat.
And then, after a long beat, you whispered, “Wait… did you ask me that last night?”
Tommy let out a quiet, sheepish chuckle, brushing his fingers through your hair.
“I did,” he said. “You were half-asleep, barely conscious.”
Your heart thudded, full to the brim.
“I thought I’d dreamt it,” you murmured, eyes searching his. “I thought I just wanted it so badly it bled into my dreams.”
Tommy’s hand cradled your jaw gently, thumb brushing your cheek.
“Well,” he said softly, lips curling faintly, “lucky for you, you’re the one person I don’t mind repeating myself for.”
Your breath hitched softly at his words, a small laugh catching in your throat– half disbelief, half emotion.
His thumb traced the edge of your cheekbone again, slow and deliberate, like he was memorizing the feel of you in this exact moment.
Then he shifted, just slightly, just enough to sit up a little straighter, one hand still cupping your face while the other slid to rest over your heart, grounding and steady.
“I want you with me,” he said quietly, the weight of his words filling the soft hush of the room. “Not just in this house. Not just in my bed. I want you beside me in everything. Always.”
You swallowed, lips parting– but no words came. Your eyes burned again, but this time it wasn’t fear or shame or pain. It was warmth. Fierce, aching love.
“Marry me,” he murmured.
You stared at him, heart pounding so hard it was all you could hear.
“I don’t have a ring yet,” he added, a flicker of amusement playing at the corner of his mouth. “But I’ll get one. Hell, I’ll get ten if you want.”
You let out a tearful laugh, your hand sliding up to rest over his where it still cupped your cheek. “Tommy…”
“I mean it,” he said, voice lower now, steady as stone. “You’re the only thing I’ve ever been sure of.”
There wasn’t a question anymore– there didn’t need to be. You leaned forward slowly, resting your forehead to his.
“Yes,” you whispered. “Of course I’ll marry you.”
His eyes slipped closed for a moment, his jaw flexing slightly like he was anchoring himself in the sound of it. Then he pulled you in, into a kiss that wasn’t urgent or rushed, just full. Full of everything he didn’t have the words for.
When he pulled back, his smile was small but real. “I still think you’ll be the death of me,” he said quietly, voice rough with affection. “But at least I’ll die happy.”
The rest of the morning passed in a dreamlike haze, full of quiet smiles and lingering touches, kisses that never quite felt long enough, and soft murmurs exchanged between warm sheets. You couldn’t stop catching his gaze, couldn’t stop replaying his words in your mind. It didn’t even feel real yet.
By evening, the house was humming with life again.
Tommy had insisted on hosting everyone for dinner– “just a quiet night,” he’d said. But the long table in the dining room was anything but quiet now.
The scent of roasted meat, garlic, and freshly baked bread filled the air, wafting from the kitchen where a special meal had been prepared, “proper food,” as Arthur had called it with a grin when he’d first walked in. Every detail was taken care of, cloth napkins, polished silverware, flickering candlelight softening the room. It was simple, but elegant in that unspoken Shelby way, comfort laced with pride.
Laughter bounced off the walls before dinner even hit the table. John and Arthur had already started in with their usual antics, arguing over which one of them could drink more before the food came out, while Finn, still with a boyish grin, tried to referee and ended up getting teased by both.
Ada lounged with a glass of wine in hand, her legs tucked up beneath her as she rolled her eyes at her brothers but smiled all the same. Esme had made herself comfortable near Polly, the two women deep in conversation about something that made Polly raise a brow and shake her head in mock disapproval.
Tommy had kept a steady eye on everything all evening, but not in the usual watchful way. Tonight, there was something softer about him– something looser in his shoulders, more content in the set of his jaw. His hand never strayed far from yours, brushing your back as he passed behind you, pulling your chair out, filling your glass. His touch lingered. Like he couldn’t quite believe it either.
The food was passed around the table– platters heaped with roasted vegetables, bowls of buttery potatoes, glistening meats carved and served with care. Everyone talked over each other, laughing between bites, telling stories from the week. You couldn’t remember the last time the house had felt so full, so light, so alive.
And then, just as plates began to empty and the noise reached its comfortable peak, Tommy stood.
The room quieted almost instinctively– half out of habit, half out of curiosity.
He held his glass in one hand, his gaze sweeping across the table, but his eyes landed last, and longest, on you.
“Thank you all for being here,” he said, his voice even, but there was a note of warmth there that wasn’t always present when he addressed a room.
There were a few murmured 'of course' and 'always' in return, but Tommy raised his glass slightly higher.
“I wanted to host a proper celebration,” he added, his voice steady now, but touched with something unspoken. His gaze locked with yours. “In honor of my soon-to-be wife.”
A stunned hush passed over the table for only a moment– then it erupted.
John let out a loud whoop, raising his glass in the air so quickly he nearly sloshed it onto Esme. Arthur stood up halfway just to reach across and thump Tommy on the back.
“’Bout bloody time!” he grinned.
Polly gave you the kind of look that said I knew before either of you did, and raised her glass elegantly with a soft smile. Ada’s grin was wide, genuine, her eyes flicking between you both with open warmth. Finn, cheeks flushed and grinning ear to ear, looked like he wasn’t sure if he was allowed to clap or not– but did anyway.
The table echoed with toasts and laughter, glasses clinking, voices overlapping with well-wishes and teasing jabs, but all you could do was look at Tommy. At the way he looked at you like you were the only one in the room.
Somewhere down the table, Ada leaned toward Polly, her voice low but not nearly quiet enough to go unheard.
“Well, I suppose we’ve got a wedding to plan now.”
Polly gave a small, approving nod, sipping from her glass. “Not suppose, Ada, we do. And if it’s going to be done, it’ll be done properly.”
Ada grinned, eyes glinting. “Properly, meaning you’ll take over and boss everyone around.”
Polly didn’t even blink. “Exactly.”
You caught the exchange, a laugh slipping out before you could help it. Polly glanced at you knowingly, lifting her glass again with a subtle wink that only made you smile wider.
Tommy’s hand slipped beneath the table, finding yours again, lacing your fingers together like he’d done it a thousand times before.
And as the table buzzed with talk of dates and dresses and where the hell they were going to seat this person and that one, you leaned in just a little closer to him, the sound of his quiet laugh brushing your ear.
It was chaos. Loud and unfiltered and so beautifully full.
“Cheers,” he said softly, just for you.
You didn’t speak, just smiled, eyes shining, and squeezed his hand back.
And for the rest of the night, even as laughter carried on and stories were told and another bottle of wine was passed around, that moment stayed etched between you.
A quiet promise in the middle of the noise.
A beginning wrapped in warmth.

f1gossipcentral submission from a fan today in monaco:
i met lando today with a few others, he was so nice! we didn't want to ask flat out about y/n, he actually brought her up in passing when someone mentioned being from the same hometown as her, and he pointed it out himself. he didn't have the same energy we're used to when speaking about her, but it's obvious there was love in his voice, a lot of it. he's still got her friendship bracelet she made him last year on, but i think it's the type you'd have to cut to get off. regardless, i hope the best for him, and her too.
user1 you're telling me just the name of her hometown and he BLURTS about her?? AFTER being broken up??? yeah we're never seeing pearly gates atp

Something Important for 'My Pathetic Family' guys!
*Chapter 2 will be out by the late morning!*
*YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE DECISIONS BASED ON POLLS SOON ONCE YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE IMPACTFUL DECISIONS IN THE STORY!* (This will be by chapter 3!)
*The story will be a darker centered story than most fics, so it will be steered in a certain direction. However, your decisions and what you decide to do or learn will decide whether you succeed in your goals or not!*
*You can either choose to do dumb shit, some heinous ass shit or maybe do something nice for a character if you don't secretly hate them! You'll probably get an option to do something funny occasionally if you're feeling petty with a character.*
*That or you can try to learn new things as you get older. This will be mainly for when you are younger cause kids are curious and so are you!*
*You're going to have to be a bit older to actually try and do heinous ass shit. No offense, but you ain't committing crimes at 6 years old guys💀*
*RELATIONSHIP STATUS* (This will start next chapter!)
An integral part of the story, they will start to be shown every chapter and when a new character is introduced in the family and maybe some other characters if you get to meet them.
PLOT TWIST!
I'm showing how much YOU like The Batfam, what you think of them and if you love them, hate them, if you think they're mean or scary or anything like that. YOUR FEELINGS MATTER TOO IN THIS STORY GUYS! If they didn't this would be a very boring fic 😭
You want to know how the others feel about you? Tooo badddd. (It also might be too many numbers to remember and will get overwhelming to remember, especially if it's changing every chapter. Sorry guys but we both gotta keep our sanity.)
So, numbers! We all love Numbers!
0-15/100: you barely know the person. You probably aren't comfortable around them and you wouldn't be able to pick them out from a crowd.
20-30/100: you're aware of them, you don't think of them as a friend or anything, barely an acquaintance, let alone family.
40-50/100: You know the person, what they like and dislike; you might even like them a little or respect them. They're an acquaintance at best.
50-55/100: They're almost a friend, you both know each other, maybe you both have something you enjoy in common and talk often. There's a good chance you'll hang out now that you know eachother better if given the chance.
55-60/100: Congrats, you're friends! A normal, healthy relationship!
60-80/100: Getting closer, I see? You're starting to care about this character a lot and like being around them. You might even share your vulnerabilities with them if you ever open up.
80-90/100: You love them very deeply and would be saddened if they died or got hurt, you might also cling to them and only really be around this person instead of others you don't know as well.
100/100: I don't think you wanna get here, you might become a bit too obsessed with the person.
If you get to 100%, the story could potentially end. You're the yandere at this point, my guy. You're the problem. A second chance can be given.
*Unless you are still young, you can't do shit to the characters then unless you're like Damian.*
*Spoiler: You ain't built THAT kind of different. Damian is Damian and you are you.*
Now, I know what you're thinking. You're all so funny and attractive, but wait! What if it's the other way around and the numbers go in the negatives?
The answer is: Not good my friends! Not good for you or the character!
It's very important that you have a good relationship with characters.
However, if the characters are mean, insulting, or they even attempt to sabotage or hurt you?
You'll grow to dislike this person. You might even grow to hate them or worse, want to hurt them.
-5/100: You don't really know them but don't like them because of an interaction, wondering why they weren't nice or maybe insulted you. An apology would bring this back to zero.
-10 or -15/100: You're starting to wonder if you did anything wrong, if you weren't mean to them you'll become slightly annoyed and might not want to be in their presence shortly after a bad interaction. This can be fixed if the character apologizes or is a bit nicer.
-20/100: You're starting to become frustrated with this person after repeated bad interactions with them, at this point if the character also has bad interactions with a character you are friends with it will go down further. An apology alone won't fix this.
-30/100: You now start to dread seeing this person or interacting with them, expecting the worst after insults or even more bad interactions. You remember what they've done and you won't forget it either.
-40/100: You start avoiding this person and will now start to hate them. You've learned by now that they won't stop being mean, insulting you or throwing jabs at you.
-50/100: Alright so this is where it's gonna start getting bad. A character can get this low with you if they attack you. (I think you know who would do this. It's literally a trope at this point in every fic I've seen with the neglectful batfam.) You will start to hate them even more and will start insulting them under your breath or start wishing ill on them, their actions towards you will lower even more at a faster rate.
Unless the character has a brain tumor that's making them act irrationally, it's only going to get harder for a character to get out of this percentage without a very good justification or unless they are actively trying to make things right.
-60/100: You start planning on how to get the characters to mess up on missions and start sabotaging them, potentially getting them hurt or in dangerous situations.
-70/100: You are actively sabotaging the characters equipment, missions and information in the hopes of getting them hurt.
It's very easy at this stage to go lower to the -80s immediately, 70s is entirely skippable simply due to how much you hate them.
-80/100: You are actively planning on how to hurt the character or worse. It would take a miracle for you to get out of this state into a less dangerous one. At this point, one more major bad action or a major bad interaction can make you go to 90% instantly.
-90/100: You act out the plan on how to hurt the character and attempt to do so. Whether you succeed on hurting them depends in your skills.
-100/100: You've gotten to the point that you hate this character so much that you snap and take matters into your own hands.
If this happens, the story can potentially end right here as there is no going back from what you did to the character. Or a second chance can be given.
You might also be wondering: can we stop this from happening?
Kind of. You can avoid characters so the meters don't go too high or too low. However, if the meter is in the high negatives at this point it will be up to the character to try and change the relationship for the better because at this point you will most likely not be interested in being kind towards a character you wish ill will on.
TLDR: You can make dumb decisions, heinous ass decisions, funny decisions, learn new stuff. 1 to 100 is good, -1 to -100 is not good. The character or you can be fucked if it goes to 100% or -100% unless you're too young to do anything. You can kind of stop it. Good luck guys. You can also become a yandere cause why not everyone else can why not you?

post-Milagro ficlet
I got an ask from a lovely anon a few days ago about *the* quote from Milagro: "Agent Scully is already in love." This is part of what will maybe turn out to be a larger WIP, or maybe not. It stands on its own for now. But who knows. Anon: thanks for the ask! I took a bit of a different turn with this, but I couldn't manage post-Milagro fic that didn't have some angst in it. tagging @today-in-fic
Agent Scully is already in love.
A look at the alarm clock tells her it’s 3 a.m. and she hasn’t managed to sleep more than a few minutes at a time. Every time she drifts off, the same thoughts jerk her awake again. She can still feel the hand around her heart, the horror and fear, the absolute certainty in her mind that this was it, she couldn’t fight this, nobody was gonna save her this time.
But she’s okay. She’s not even hurt. There’s even a decent chance that she’ll get the blood out of her clothes, even though she’s not sure she ever wants to wear them again. She’s okay, and yet she’s lying here wide awake at 3 a.m., the past few days replaying on a constant loop in her mind. She has no idea why she ever even talked to Padgett. Quite honestly, she has no idea why she did any of the things she did. She has no idea how she didn’t end up hurt or dead.
She knew the risks she was taking. Interacting with your own stalker—a really fucking terrible idea. But it’s only now that she’s truly afraid. Now that it’s over.
Mulder offered to stay with her. He would have let her stay at his apartment, but she had to get out of there, and he understood. A part of her wishes she’d have let him sleep on her couch the way he wanted. Having him close by might be a comfort now. Or it might not.
Agent Scully is already in love.
One more thing she can’t forget, no matter how hard she tries. Padgett was clearly not well, and she never should have listened to a word he said, but she did. She listened, and she heard things that were never meant to be spoken aloud.
And Mulder was there. Mulder heard. She turns her face into the pillow and squeezes her eyes closed. She doesn’t wanna hear it anymore. She doesn’t want those words.
If it weren’t for those words, maybe she could have let Mulder stay. Maybe it would have been okay.
Deep breaths, she tells herself. Breathe. Relax. Think about nothing. Think about puppies and nice hot baths and the smell of freshly baked cookies.
A hand around her heart, squeezing. She can’t move, the floor hard against her back, and she knows she’s dying, she can’t move, she can’t…
Fuck. She rolls onto her back and covers her eyes with her hands as if that could stop the images from flooding her tired mind.
Jolting back to consciousness, her body tight with fear and shock, and Mulder right there, Mulder with his worried eyes, Mulder’s arms around her holding her close, Mulder, Mulder, Mulder.
She wants Mulder. Oh god. She shouldn’t have sent him away when he dropped her off, when he asked whether she wanted him to come up.
She could call her mom.
She could deal with this on her own like a fucking adult who doesn’t need anyone to hold her hand every time she gets scared.
A tiny part of her brain reminds her that this was bad, that she has every right to be shaken up. But she wants her mind to be wrong about this. She just wants it to be over.
She wants Mulder.
Agent Scully is already in love.
Mulder is the last person she can call right now.
They have worked out a system a long time ago for when one of them can’t sleep. Call and let it ring once, then hang up. If the other one is awake enough to reach for the phone, they talk. Otherwise they let each other sleep. She could do that. He’d understand. Hell, he’s probably lying awake expecting her to call. Which makes her that much more determined not to do it.
The last digits she reads on her alarm clock before she drifts off into a restless slumber are 5:28.
At 7 a.m., her alarm rings. She feels terrible. Everyone would understand if she took a sick day. But then she’d sit here all day with her thoughts, with her memories, with nothing to distract her.
**
When she walks into the office, she doesn’t remember getting dressed, she doesn’t remember driving to work. She’s not sure whether she had breakfast or not. She’s not even entirely sure she’s awake.
“Scully!” Mulder sounds surprised, and she manages to lift her head high enough to look at him as he walks around the desk. He comes straight towards her to put his hands on her shoulders. “Scully, are you okay?”
“Yeah,” she says. “I’m fine. Just. Didn’t sleep great.”
He doesn’t let go of her, just stands there biting his lip and giving her that soft look that makes her want to weep.
She doesn’t need this on top of everything. Maybe she should have stayed home after all. She’s so good at keeping her feelings locked away. Today, she barely has the strength to stand upright or formulate a single thought that isn’t Oh god, I’m so tired.
“Go home,” Mulder says. “I’ll drive you.”
“No.” She shakes her head. “I need to… I just need to take my mind off things.”
A stranger’s fist inside her chest, forcing the life from her body, merciless, cold. Pain, panic.
Mulder squeezes her shoulders gently. “You shouldn’t be here. I didn’t expect you to come in. I’m sure neither did Skinner. Take a few days. You need rest.”
She shakes her head, regretting the movement as the room spins out of focus for a second. “What I need is to work.” What she needs is to know if Mulder knows. She knows her fear is safe with him. She doesn’t know about all the rest. She needs something to hold onto. Something stronger than the fear. “I’m not going home,” she tells him firmly.
He hesitates a long moment, an eternity. Finally, he nods. “Okay,” he says. “If you’re sure.”
“I’m sure.”
Mulder looks very unhappy, but she can’t do anything about that. She just needs… she just needs something to occupy her mind. Before she passes out on the floor and dreams of a hand around her heart, squeezing the life out of her.
**
“Hey, Scully?”
She blinks her eyes open, disoriented for a second. Her neck hurts and her head is spinning as she sits up. Mulder is standing in the doorway. She’s sitting behind the desk. Right. She wanted to check something. He went to… do something else that she doesn’t remember. “Sorry,” she says, and wipes drool from the corner of her mouth. Falling asleep at the desk is probably not the best way to convince him she’s okay to work. A quick look at her watch tells her she can’t have been out for more than ten minutes. “What is it?”
He waves a file in her direction. “I think we should check this out as quickly as possible,” he says.
“Oh.” She manages a nod. Do they have a case? She remembers talking about something earlier that they decided to dismiss. She can’t even recall what it was. But apparently they settled on something. “Yeah, absolutely.” She pauses, not sure whether she wants to ask. She really doesn’t want him to know that she completely zoned out on all of it. But then again, she can’t exactly do her work if she doesn’t know what they’re even working on. “What, uh. What is the case again? Sorry, I guess I’m a bit… distracted today.”
“Yeah.” He gives her a long look. “The haunted hotel, remember? And it’s just an hour and a half from here.”
“Oh!” she says, pretending to remember, deciding she can read whatever is in that folder on the way to… wherever it is they’re going. “Right. Yes. Okay. And you want us to go there right now?”
“Why not?” he says, shrugging. “No time like the present.”
“Good, yeah, okay.” She suppresses a yawn and tries not to shiver too obviously. She has reached the level of exhaustion where her whole body hurts and she feels like she’s running a fever.
“I’ll drive,” he says. She doesn’t argue.
**
Out of sheer stubbornness, she manages not to fall asleep in the car. She even manages to make conversation. Her speech is barely even slurred. She’s pretty sure he doesn’t notice.
Unfortunately, he put the file in the trunk of the car before she remembered to take it from him, but he’s telling her some ghost stories about the place while they drive, so she feels reasonably well-prepared.
“Here we are,” he says, pulling into the parking lot of an expensive-looking hotel that looks not even remotely like she imagined. But after all these years, she’s come to expect the unexpected.
“This is it?”
“Yup.” He smiles at her and gets out of the car. She follows, her legs heavy, but she gets them moving, gets them to carry her towards the entrance of the building.
The spacious foyer they walk into screams “I’m way out of your pay grade,” and she notices guests and staff who all look very happy and not at all like they’re being plagued by ghost sightings. Business seems to be going well. Which is also not what she expected from a place that is haunted enough for Mulder to open an X-file on it. “Are you sure we’re in the right place?” she asks.
“Yeah,” he says, and something in his voice makes her turn her head and study his profile carefully.
“Mulder, what aren’t you telling me?”
He stops and turns towards her with a sigh. “I may have done something rash and stupid, and please feel free to yell at me if I completely overstepped any boundaries here.”
“Oh god,” she says. “What did you do?”
“I, um.” He directs his gaze at the floor next to her feet and grimaces. “I may have gone to Skinner and told him we’re both taking the rest of the week off.”
“You…what?”
“And I may have called here and booked us a suite. For two nights. A… vacation, I guess.”
“Mulder…”
“Two bedrooms. And there are go ghosts here, don’t worry.” He pauses before he continues, his voice low and careful. “As long as we’re anywhere near the Hoover Building, you’ll work. I know it and you know it.”
“Mulder, seriously…”
“You need to sleep, Scully,” he says, finally meeting her eyes. “You’re dead on your feet. You can barely keep your eyes open.”
She opens her mouth to argue, but nothing comes out. She’s so tired. So very, very tired. All she wants is a bed. All she wants is for her memories to leave her alone. All she wants is to sink against Mulder’s chest and cry with exhaustion and the emotional hangover from almost being murdered. Again. “…Okay.”
“Okay?” He looks so hopeful, so relieved. Another thing that almost makes her cry.
Agent Scully is already in love.
Shit. He makes it really hard for her to feel any other sort of way about him. “Yeah. Okay.”
“Good.”
She frowns. “What about all those stories you just told me about this place?”
He shrugs. “Yeah, I kind of made them up.”
Her laughter turns into a yawn and he puts his arms around her shoulders as they get their key and find the elevator up to their floor. She leans against him, letting him hold her upright. Now that she’s given in to this, the prospect of lying down and closing her eyes seems so overwhelmingly wonderful.
“Oh no,” she says, suddenly remembering something.
“What is it?” he asks.
“I don’t have anything with me. No clothes, nothing.”
He laughs and pulls her tighter against him just as the elevator door opens and they step out. “I’m sorry. I honestly completely forgot about that.”
“Yeah.” She feels such a rush of fondness for him it makes her aching heart flutter in her chest. “I’m noticing you don’t have a bag with you either.”
“Well.” He lets go of her to open the door to their suite and lets her walk in ahead of him. “We’ll just have to spend the next couple of days in hotel robes.”
“Maybe we should go out and buy a few things,” she suggests.
“Or,” he says, “you go and lie down and I’ll go out and pick up a few things for us.”
“But—”
“Scully,” he interrupts. “Trust me. I think I can manage to find a pair of sweatpants and a couple of t-shirts for you that will fit.”
“Underwear,” she says and blushes.
“I can manage that too,” he says, and she’s too tired to feel embarrassed about anything right now.
Agent Scully is already in love.
“Mulder?”
“Yes?”
“You’re the best partner I’ve ever had.”
“That’s not difficult,” he says, “since I’m the only partner you’ve ever had. There’s not really that much competition.”
In lieu of an answer, she hugs him, pleased when he puts his arms around her in return. She doesn’t feel the hard floor against her back when he holds her, she doesn’t remember what it felt like when her vision went black and she felt herself dying.
She really wants to ask him if he knows who Padgett was talking about. If he believed it. But she won’t. Not right now. There’s time. And maybe she already knows the answer. Either way, it’s true. And she’s too weak to fight it.
“Thank you,” she says.
He pulls her closer and sighs against her hair. “I just want you to be okay,” he says softly.
“I will be,” she promises.
Agent Scully is already in love.
Whether it’s friendship or something else that he’s offering, she knows that whatever shape his feelings come in, she’s never been loved like this before. By anyone. And even with all the ghosts in her mind, she feels like she might finally get some sleep after all.

nika.muhl I feel like a proud mother
You are definitely not famous, despite the ten thousand followers that appeared out of nowhere, but your girlfriend and your friends definitely are.
You’ve been sitting on the floor for a few minutes now, KK Arnold’s phone propped up on the low coffee table in front of you, staring in shock at the rising viewers and the comments that pour in faster than you can read some of them.
Your jaw actually drops a bit when the viewer count hits 300.
You’re not famous. You’re not good in the spotlight. You’re awkward and you stutter over your words, you can’t get it out of your head how many people are watching you and analyzing everything you do.
You’re the new girl. The new person to pick apart.
And even worse, you’re Georgia’s girlfriend. And if the fans didn’t know about her official 6 month post, they can definitely see now that you’re more than friends.
Georgia has her arm wrapped around your shoulders, tucking you into her side- allowing you to feel like you’re hiding away from at least some of the prying eyes as you play with her other hand in her lap.
Her fingers softly work out nonexistent knots at the ends of your hair, and the comforting sound of her and KK’s laughs makes you feel a little bit calmer. You don’t quite forget that all the eyes are there, but they dull.
Another one of the girls here appears over KK’s shoulder, talking to the live, so Georgia turns to you. She presses a kiss to your forehead, keeping her lips there while she whispers softly.
It’s nice not having to worry about keeping your relationship hidden. It’s not like you wanted a secret relationship, it was actually Georgia’s idea. She wanted to make sure you were comfortable and all-in before she introduced you to the world of social media fame.
The one thing that’s not a secret, that’s never really been a secret, is how protective Georgia is.
You joke that it must be something to do with her being Australian, although you don’t really have an idea where that comes from.
She posted a few pictures of you in them, but she never tagged you, and your face was always pretty much hidden- she even posted a picture of the sunset and blocked out your face with her hand, laughing the entire time she did so at how ridiculous it was.
Even though you both knew there was no way she was taking that picture without covering your face.
Georgia didn’t want you to get spooked by how overbearing the fans could be- and she admitted that she selfishly wanted to keep you to herself. But you kinda wanted everyone to know that you were hers and she was yours.
And Georgia was always down for that.
You were trying it. And Georgia was there, at least. And you know you never have to worry about anything when she’s there.
“You okay, princess?”
“I’m fine,” you mumble back, careful not to let your lips move too much so the camera can’t tell what you’re saying.
“Yeah?” She says, squeezing your shoulder, prodding gently.
“I’m good,” you reassure her, smiling. You still feel kinda awkward, and she notices the way you look away from her.
“Are you sure, baby? Because if you’re not comfortable then I’ll end it right now. Or we can just leave altogether. We can grab food, if you’re hungry. Or just go home and sleep.”
“Hey, babe?”
“Yeah?” Her eyes are wide and concerned, her entire focus is poured onto you. Her eyes rake over your body language, her thumb rubs soothing circles into your shoulder, and your hand is caressed softly by hers.
“Stop spiraling.”
She smiles, squinting at you. “Hah. You’re funny.”
“I know I am. Seriously, though, I’m fine. I’ll tell you when I want to leave, okay?”
She’ll drag you away from this live at the first inkling of you wanting to leave. And even if you want to stay, she might drag you away anyways if she’s decided she’s done sharing.
She blinks for a long second.
“Okay, yeah. But seriously, tell me. Even if-”
“Georgia.”
She presses a quick kiss to your cheek, but when that does nothing to lift your unimpressed frown, she kisses your lips.
“Sorry?”
You roll your eyes, looking away from her as she kisses your cheek yet again, this time letting her lips linger. She’s about to say something, you can tell- probably jokingly beg for forgiveness, but you can’t help but notice KK’s side eye in the camera.
“Yes, KK?” You ask with a smile.
She crosses her arms and pouts. “Some of us are single, you know.”
“Awww,” the other girl coos, wrapping her arms around KK’s shoulders. “Is little KK feeling a little lonely? Does little baby need a hug?”
“Man, get off me,” KK says, still with a pout on her face, eyebrows furrowed. She props her elbows onto the coffee table while the rest of you burst into laughter at her antics. “Anyways. Y’all got any questions or anything?”
Georgia’s arm falls down from your shoulders to your waist, her nails lightly scratching your side.
“Who is the new girl?” KK reads off of the screen. “Y’all so rude, damn. This is Y/N, my new best friend and love of my life.”
You laugh, awkwardly waving to the screen.
“Y/N who are you?” KK reads another awkwardly worded comment.
Georgia makes a face and squeezes your waist, silently telling you that you don’t have to answer.
“Who am I? Um… I’m Y/N, I’m twenty-two, I’m in college right now…” You trail off, trying to think of something interesting to say. “My favorite color is pink?”
“Girl why was that a question?” KK laughs.
“I don’t know what to say!” You exclaim, gesturing to the phone. “There’s- oh, my God there’s 856 people on here. Why are you like really famous? Holy shit.”
“Thank you,” KK smiles, twirling a piece of her hair.
Georgia puts her free hand on the side of your face, angling you towards her as she narrows her eyes at the camera.
“She is also my girlfriend. So don’t get any ideas.”
“Girl, I think they can tell,” KK laughs, gesturing to the way you and Georgia are practically glued together.
Georgia shrugs. “I love my girlfriend.”
“We can tell.”
The comments immediately flood in. Some of them are talking about how cute the two of you are, a few of them are obvious jokes about you stealing everyone’s wife, but the one that sticks out to you isn’t anything like that.
wbblvr552022 THAT is georgia amoore’s gf? does she need her eyes checked 😭
You swallow, but thankfully there are so many comments pouring in that no one else seems to catch it.
“When’d you guys meet?” KK reads. “Oh, Q and A time, guys.”
Georgia immediately breaks out into a wide smile, contagious, one that makes you smile too.
She squeezes your waist in excitement before immediately launching into a dramatic retelling of her seeing you with your friends after a game, then her subtle way of inviting you to the next game in the set, then her subtle way of getting your number.
“And… the rest is history.”
KK laughs at the corny phrase, and you can’t help but smile either.
You lean forward to read more comments. “Oh, Georgia- what is your favorite thing about me?”
Georgia immediately presses her mouth into a line.
KK exaggeratedly turns towards the two of you, waiting patiently for an answer. “Don’t be shy, girly. I’m excited to hear this one.”
“I don’t think I should answer,” Georgia says, grimacing slightly. “Feels like a trap.”
“Well, there’s definitely wrong answers.” You pat her cheek with a smile. “C’mon, give it a try.”
“Umm… everything.”
You hum, pretending to think about it. “I’ll accept it.”
“What?” She asks, her eyes wide. “What the fuck is the right answer, then?”
You press your finger to her lips, shushing her. “Don’t worry about it, babe. You’ll get it one day.”
She rolls her eyes, but kisses the pad of your finger pressed against her lips. You can’t help but smile, wondering if the camera picked up that small movement- but you also find yourself not really caring.
wbblvr552022 is it possible to have a favorite thing about y/n? girl is UGLY
user-1 @wbblvr552022 hey this is actually insane!
user-2 @wbblvr552022 wtf is wrong w u?
You frown.
You can’t keep the look off of your face, you can’t help the sudden tightness in your chest and the thoughts facing through your mind.
Why are they so mean? What did you ever do to them? Are they just jealous? Or are they just right?
Do you deserve Georgia?
KK, surprisingly, is the first to notice your frown in the reflection. Her eyes meet yours, and she doesn’t say anything for a second.
She subtlety covers her mouth with her hand.
“You good?”
You’re really thankful that Georgia has suddenly turned away from the two of you to talk over her shoulder with a few girls behind you. You don’t even know their names, you don’t even care.
You smile in response.
You grab Georgia’s free hand, and she automatically tightens her arm around your waist. You tuck yourself into her, breathing in her comforting scent.
She turns back to the camera, barely even noticing the way you’re tucked into her- she’s just happy you’re touching her. You watch her smile at the camera and feel her squeeze your hand.
“Y/N’s sad?” She suddenly asks. She frowns at the screen, and your eyes widen-
user-1 y/n disappearing into georgia over there 😭😭😭
user-2 @/user-1 GOD they’re so cute i cant
user-3 y/n looks kinda sad tho??
user-1 wait you’re right y/n girl what’s wrong
You make a face and do your best to brush it off.
“I’m just tired.” You swear Georgia can hear the lie. “Thank you guys for worrying, though.” You flash the camera a bright smile and a thumbs-up.
wbblvr552022 GIRL put those chompers away 😭
user-1 @wbblvr552022 HELLO???? YALL SEEING THIS?
Georgia is not convinced that you’re okay. You can tell. She’s kinda tense against you, and she keeps looking towards the door like she’s ready to just throw you over her shoulder and leave.
She tries to meet your eyes, but you’re persistent in avoiding her, instead staring at yourself in the camera. You know that as soon as she looks at you, she’ll see it in your eyes. The bit of doubt you can’t hide.
What if they’re just right?
She suddenly squints at the camera, her eyes narrowing as she grabs it- despite KK’s protest- scrolling up as your heart slams in your chest.
“The fuck?”
The pure venom she spits those simple words out with makes KK stop trying to get her phone back.
“Georgia-” You start, squeezing the hand you’re still holding- she lets go of your hand to hold the phone.
“Sorry,” she mutters, her eyes scanning over the comments.
user-1 nice up close view i see
user-2 you got something in your nose queen
wbblvr552022 break up w your ugly ass girlfriend… cause im bored 🎶
“Are you fucking serious right now?”
“Um, hey… G?” KK starts, confused and smiling in a slightly scared way. “What’s goin’ on..?”
user-1 who the fuck is @wbblvr552022 and why have they been literally bullying y/n in the chat…
Your heart is beating so fast right now it’s roaring in your ears. Something inside of you just knows that the only way someone could get this kind of reaction out of Georgia is if they hurt you.
And as much as you hate to admit it, your heart keeps snagging on something in your chest. It does kinda hurt, as much as you want to rise above it.
Georgia hands KK’s phone back to her. She turns to you. Fuck.
“You saw those, didn’t you?”
“Georgia,” you sigh, wrapping your arms around yourself. “It’s just some random person on the internet. Yes, I saw it, but it doesn’t matter what they say, right?”
Your words sound confident and mature, and maybe if your voice could have displayed that too then Georgia would have let it go.
But you’re lying to her- and yourself.
It does fucking bother you, it does make you feel like shit- it makes you want to never go in front of a camera again.
“It’s nothing.”
You finally meet her eyes.
Maybe her being this pissed off should scare you, or concern you- but honestly? The fire in her eyes only ignites a fire inside of you. Deep in your stomach.
“It’s not fucking nothing, the fuck? No, no one gets to treat you like that. No one gets to make you sad.”
You put your hand on her face.
“Babe, it’s really sweet that you want to protect me, but you’re just gonna drag it out and make it worse, yeah? Okay? I appreciate it and I love you, but it’s okay.”
She looks away from you, trying to take a deep breath that sounds more like a pissed-off huff, and your heart is still fucking snagging on something-
“You love me, right?”
You blurt it out before you can even think, all small and insecure, chasing her love and affection that you know you have. At least, you should know you have it. But it’s like something inside of you screaming that you just need to hear it, that she loves you, and you know you’ll regret it forever if you don’t hear her say it right now.
“Fuck this,” Georgia says, practically hissing the words.
She sticks her hand out and KK- who sweetly has been doing her best to not listen to the conversation- gives the phone back.
Georgia props the camera up again, angling it so it’s only on her.
“I’m not fuckin’ playing, okay? I don’t know what the fuck is your problem, but I will literally kill you if you keep saying shit about my girlfriend.” She laughs dryly, but everyone knows there’s nothing funny about the look in her eyes and the conviction in her words. “Don’t talk about her, don’t think about her- don’t worry about my girl, she’s good with me. Worry about yourself when I fucking find you.”
She lets the phone fall back onto the table, crossing her arms, and you can tell that there’s still thoughts racing through her head.
KK slowly grabs the phone.
“Well… y’all heard her. I think it’s time to go, though… so, bye-bye girly-pops!”
She presses a button and closes her phone, and you watch the screen turn to black.
“Well,” you start, looking between Georgia and KK. “That was… something!”
Georgia sighs, itching her nose. “Sorry, baby.”
“Excuse?” KK asks.
Georgia barely cracks a smile. “Sorry, KK.”
“So… uhm… what the fuck happened?”
Georgia gestures towards the phone, huffing. “Someone was talking shit about Y/N. Like, calling her ugly, I- fuck.” She takes a deep breath. “Yeah.”
“Man, really? I’m sorry, Y/N- I would have blocked them if I saw it.”
You smile. “It’s not your fault, K. And it’s not that big of a deal, really. I mean, it sucks, but whatever. I should get used to it, right?”
Georgia laughs. “No. I am never posting you again. I’m never letting you be in a live ever again. They can’t treat you right then they don’t get to see you.”
KK makes a face that forces you to stifle a giggle. “Okay, Ms. Possessive-and-Controlling.”
She smiles. “Is that a bad thing?”
Your cheeks suddenly feel hot, because it’s really not. And you know Georgia is mostly speaking out of anger- she’s not really gonna keep you hidden from the world of social media. She might, for a week or two, but then she’ll probably forget.
“It’s been a lot of fun, KK, but maybe Georgia and I should go home..?”
Suddenly, she has the biggest grin on her face.
—-
Laying with Georgia in your comfy bed, wrapped in comfy blankets, shrouded by darkness with her chest as your pillow is probably where you feel safest. Nothing can reach you here. Social media or physical, you’re completely safe in her arms and the darkness.
“Happy?” You mutter into the darkness, smiling as you think of how mad she was just an hour ago.
“I’m really bloody happy, actually.”
“Very long night of sharing me, huh? Poor baby.”
“I agree,” she yawns. “We shouldn’t ever go out again. We should just stay in this amazing bed.”
“Okay, baby,” you mutter with an eye roll, humoring her.
“Y/N,” she says after a blissful moment. You can hear it in her voice. The concern, the hesitation. “I love you. I love you so much sometimes I’m kinda convinced you put a spell on me. Like, it shouldn’t be possible to love someone this much.”
You smile.
“I’ve caught you in my web,” you tease. “But you walked right into it.”
“Yeah, I did,” she laughs. “But I love you. You shouldn’t have to question that. I’m not doing my job as your girlfriend if you do.”
She kisses your forehead.
“All I want is for you to be happy… right next to me, though.”
You sit up, placing your hands on her chest as you swing one of your legs over her waist.
“I don’t have any plans of leaving. Do you?”
Her hands immediately move to rub up and down you thighs.
“Nope. Also, I change my mind. I want you to be happy on top of me. Or under me, I’m not picky.”
You laugh, leaning down so you can kiss her nose. You hands work out knots in her perpetually tense shoulders.
“Always thinkin’ about sex,” you mutter.
“Always thinkin’ ‘bout you,” she corrects. “And fucking you.”
You’re about to kiss her when she suddenly pulls back.
“You’re sure you’re good?”
You smile at her sweet concern for you.
“Yes, Georgia, I’m good. I mean… I felt kinda shitty for a second. Doubting that I was good enough for you- it’s silly. I know I am. And I’m… trying not to care about what they think.”
She brushes some hair behind your ear, nodding.
“You know I love you, right?” She smiles when she says it, because both of you know she tells you and shows you possibly too much.
“I know you love me,” you smile, your lips ghosting over hers. “I love you, too, my basketball star.” You press a kiss to the corner of her lips- then her chin, and you’re about to kiss her neck-
“As sexy as that is, I still want to show you how much I love you. You doubted I loved you today. We can’t have that happening.”
She sits up, and you sit back on your heels, rolling your eyes. “I know you love me. It was a millisecond, babe-”
Her hands squeeze your waist.
“Why don’t you just shut your pretty mouth and lay on your back?” She kisses your neck, that one special place that only she knows to kiss, the place that she found by loving you and now covets like treasure.
A moan immediately spills out of your mouth.
“I can do that,” you breathe, reveling in the way her hands feel as she helps you lay back.
“I know you can, baby,” she smiles. “Be a good girl, now, yeah? Let me love you.”
You’re really fucking glad that you caught this girl.
