just wrote smth similar to this in the tags of prev post but whenever i say that dean is praying, i mean it in the loosest sense of the term. it’s praying because he is talking to an angel / god but it doesn’t really feeling like Praying, in the sense that there is no real faith, beyond the knowledge that angels are real (because he has met them) and the belief that they are listening. to me, in spn there is a consistent difference between praying and Praying - praying is a form of communication (dean asking for cas’ help, knowing that cas will come eventually; dean asking for angels’ help, knowing that they are out there somewhere and will hear) while Praying is about belief (sam speaking to god / angels before he even knows they exist; sam asking to be cleansed / saved). praying is communication and a tool and Praying is devotion

watching my sister outwardly preach morality and right vs wrong, not only to me in arguments about things that have nothing to do with her, but also on her social media page where she is very aggressive and vicious towards people who don't share her views or who she perceives to be inherently malicious, and rather than treat them with kindness she treats them with aggression.

meanwhile she has never done a deep reflection on what right vs wrong is, and clearly has a very black and white mentality about it that is inherently distorted because nothing is black and white.

and i refuse to even engage with it anymore because i'm not going to stand there and let someone scream at me and tell me she hopes i die for merely trying to point out her own hypocrisy.

like pick up a book on philosophy i beg of thee. and just sit with it. don't take it as a metric to lead your life by but take it as a theory to mull with and play with. for fucks sake watch The Good Place or The 100 if reading philosophy isn't your thing. or read the Vicious duology by V.E. Schwab, or read Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida. or No Longer Human by Dazi or read anything that remotely discusses the complexities of feeling like a monster or being alienated in society/media about good vs evil. (my examples in media are thin, despite it being my favorite narrative device because i genuinely am blanking)

like learn that right and wrong is fluid and to not condemn people because they do something you personally wouldn't do. it is not your place to dictate how others live, and if you want people to grow to share your opinion you can't force them with vitriol and you most definitely won't be the deciding factor in why someone might come around to your belief system.

Again, nobody asked, but I've been thinking about my tragic angry fire boy

I was thinking about how different he is from Atumu. So essentially Atumu is like a sheepdog. Like a good working border collie. He is living his best life when doing a job and doing a good job. He lives to serve.

Atamu is like....a feral wolf. He doesn't do well in captivity and doesn't like being bossed around. Unfortunately, he has been brought up in an extremely restricted and regimented environment. He is literally like a caged wild animal. Absolutely feral but kept "calm" (in check) by a tight leash and thick barred cages.

Basically for the first idk 10+ years, he never stops trying to escape. Fight back. Punch, fight, bite, claw. Anything he can do to get out.

They find that one of the only ways to keep him in check is cattle prods or tasers. By the time he's like 16, those even have limited effect. This kid is so fucking strong.

So when he's about that age (16-ish), he gets a sort of microchip grafted onto his vertebra at the base of his skull (C2 vertebra). It serves not only as a tracking device (as they will find useful with his many escape attempts) but also as an internal defibrillator. It's like a taser built into his bone, attached to his spine. Even at lower intensities, it completely paralyzes him. It was the best investment they ever made because this would be the first time ever they managed to control Atamu.

As he gets older, they have less need to use it in a debilitating way. It eventually acts more like a shock collar than a taser - to keep him in check. It's enough to act like a spray bottle like when a cat jumps on the table. That isn't to say there aren't moments when they do need to use it to its full disabling capabilities, when Atamu goes completely feral.

Needless to say, all this builds up to essentially creating an absolute monster. They've essentially created this feral beast who has built a resistance against the strongest electrical shocks and whose raw brutal strength seem basically unparalleled. He's fucking terrifying. And he doesn't want to be caged.

the thing with shri’iia to me is that she is very easy to manipulate if you say the right words. that’s how the matriarch kept her in a leash and cage and shri’iia WAS happy with that until she accidentally escaped and slowly realised how shitty all that was. that’s why - in an oathbreaker shri’iia run - she starts to spite the emperor once she realises what he’s doing with her, and why a vengeance shri’iia run would still be plausible after the religious/self existential crisis bc she’ll be in a really vulnerable place and she would want to hear those right words, you know …
