Fuck I'm so angry at gender essentialism. Especially trans gender essentialism; you'd think we'd know better
#Nothing makes me feel more painfully cut off from other transfems than seeing one dismiss anyone who's not a perfect binary Woman™️#And the more I listen to black trans people or indigenous trans people or east asian trans people#*or literally any trans person who is not a white westerner*#the more this shit has me wanting to openly scream at people about the bigotry that's consuming queer spaces#Like how the fuck do you not see it?!#It's everywhere! The words are right there for you to listen to; how do you not open your eyes and see?!?#What the fuck is happening to us???

no way did i see someone say in the tbes tag "forcing trans rep where it doesnt belong" a..... as if trans biracial japanese people dont exist and have always existed??? japan isnt a country made entirely of cis people what the fuck are you talking about. queer people and non-ciss-ness has been a cornerstone in japans cultural history since forever. you literally would not have kabuki theatre without queer people or at the very least non-cis and non-straight people. queeness is embedded in the samurai way of life (historically, for better or worse). and what about all the adult wakashu? who voluntarily never graduated into adult man cishood because they wanted to keep their queerness/mlm relationships/non-cis-man presentation intact? you cant label the trans identity as a Whites/Westerners Only thing and then swear by the strict binary idea of cisness...which is an actual hegemonic christian thing made to divide and subjugate dfab and dmab people???? youre queerphobic AND racist
#my t#terfs and radfems are fucking mindboggling#cis poc women exist at the same time as queer and trans poc women and men and gnc ppl and agender/nb ppl this is a hard fact#another hard fact: transness or at least non-cis-ness is an idea thats older than the entire history of cis womanhood/manhood#the gender binary is a relatively RECENT IDEA#''non-cis-ness/non-straightness is a white idea only western ppl are non-gendered!!'' say that to any 2spirit person ever i fucking dare yo#or any queer person ever in the entire history of india#fuck off with your racialized terf bullshit you insidious piece of shit#imo the ONLY reason binary gender (and sex) is even mentioned in the bible is so that eve could be deemed as lesser than adam#for some arbitrary fuckin reason#and yall bought right into it! great. good work everyone#we have lived together amongst eachother since literally the invention of the first stone tool and u can fuckin bet early humans#didnt have a clue about cis manhood and cis womanhood & anyone who says so is projecting hard and intellectually dishonest

ive said this before but it's hard being an lgbt malaysian and listening to western lgbt people freak out over things that have been our reality the entire time. i've had to come to terms with the fact that i'll likely never be able to legally transition in malaysia, will never be able to change my name or gender on documents and it will probably remain illegal for me to use public bathrooms, seek medical care, exist in public, do literally anything as a trans person there for the rest of my life. i am not happy about this and i am luckier than most having the ability to medically transition in canada but i'm always hyperaware that this can be taken away from me at any moment (and is likely to in the near future with the slow death of liberalism in canada as well), that whenever i return i'm at risk of imprisonment if i'm caught by the wrong person, and i know the reality of what life is like for people back home who do not have the privileges i do. but the thing is that even in malaysia trans people use the bathroom and exist in public and have jobs and fall in love and see the doctor and it is possible to carve out a life that is not wholly built upon despair. it's really really fucking hard and scary but we do it anyway because we have to. so it's just really hard to stomach white people in like california freaking out like it's impossible to live in these circumstances or no one else could possibly understand, sorry
#i want nothing more than to return home and be able to live in peace but my family knows it isnt safe for me#when you grow up understanding that to be lgbt means to be a literal criminal and people get caned killed imprisoned for it#but unfortunately mentioning any of this makes white people go well we should bomb you and do nato invasion because youre evil#rather than pulling themselves together and recognizing shared struggle. not always but often enough

y’all i found it, i found the post that originated the claim that i’m a ZionistTM and it’s even more ridiculous than i expected.
—————————————
—————————
this is, of course, the same person who labeled me a MisogynistTM for making a half baked joke reblog basically saying “jewish standards of masculinity are different than white western standards of masculinity” then cited orthodox judaism, a community i’m not a part of, as why Actually The Jewish Community Is Horrifically Misogynistic And Bad (as if i haven’t faced misogyny from jewish cis men before???????)
anyway, my post in this screenshot didn’t once mention israel. it didn’t mention zionism. it was talking about antisemitism. i turned off reblogs because people were making it about zionism and israel, which was derailing my original point. i set a specific boundary and people kept crossing it, so i turned reblogs off and blocked people who wouldn’t leave it alone. absolutely nothing about that could possibly indicate that i’m a zionist unless you think that diaspora jews setting boundaries about being forced into a conversation about israel, especially one where we are essentially being blamed for the antisemitism we face because of the government of a country we don’t even live in and have no control over (there’s a phrase that, it’s called dual loyalty and it’s been getting jews killed for decades) or if you think simply talking about the history of antisemitism and current rising levels of antisemitism is somehow “zionist propaganda” in which case you might want to get your head out of your ass and question why you’re agreeing with literal nazis. also bonus points for this person literally just blatantly blaming jews in the tags for the rise in antisemitism because we’re apparently not being antizionist enough to deserve basic human decency and safety! not even trying to hide it anymore huh!
and of course it worked like a charm bc now, months later, you have people saying this:
“the jew is trying to disguise himself as one of you to trick you!!!!!! he is actually evil and trying to manipulate you to further his evil (((zionist))) plans!!!!!!!!!! beware!!!!!!!!!!!” which is literally just repackaged antisemitic tropes that are centuries old. i’ve never interacted with the person in this screenshot in my entire life, and yet they seem to think they have insider knowledge into my Evil Zionist Plans to infiltrate the community and spread Zionist Propaganda because they interacted with one gentile witch that threw a hissy fit about being told not to be antisemitic in discourse about gentiles appropriating lillith. this gentile decided that every single jew who disagreed with them was a zionist, and when i told them it was antisemitic as fuck to call any jew they disagree with a zionist they went on about me being a “raging zionist” and “faking being queer” for DAYS. so it’s not a mystery where the person in this screenshot got the “ooh scary (((zionist))) pretending to be queer and trans to spread his evil (((zionist))) propaganda” rhetoric from. it’s word-for-word from the gentile witch who was pissed about fucking LILLITH DISCOURSE.
bc the thing is, these ppl don’t actually care if i’m a zionist. if they did, they would be engaging with what i’ve said (which is practically nothing because i knew the second the word israel touched my blog that this would happen — which is why i didn’t want people going on and on about israel on a post about antisemitism). they know that labeling a jew a zionist is an immediate death sentence in progressive circles. they know it’s the easiest way to discredit a jew you don’t like. because it doesn’t matter how many times you say “no, i’m not” you will be forever tainted in the eyes of gentiles by that accusation. that’s why they made the accusation in the first place. and so i will continue to not share any of my thoughts or opinions other than “i’m pro palestinian liberation” and “i’m not a zionist” and people will ignore that to play yet another game of Zionist Telephone to target a jew they don’t like. it’s not the first time it’s happened, to me or in general, and it won’t be the last time. i just hope people seeing this and reading this will help people understand how fucked up and antisemitic it is.
so yeah. if you see accusations floating around that i’m a zionist, this is where it came from. a situation that is textbook dual loyalty, being punished for setting boundaries on my own blog, and people who hate trans men jumping at the chance to demonize one with one of the easiest tricks in the book as soon as they see he’s also jewish. the fact i keep having to address this when the origin of the rumor is literally just antisemitism should heavily inform how seriously you take random claims online that a jew is a zionist. most of the time it’s just blatant antisemitism, and very often it’s a way to silence an unrelated conversation that person was trying to have.

hiiii so ive been meaning to say this for a hot minute but thank you for speaking up for two spirit folx. we're so often neglected for more mainstream western mostly eurocentric labels & most only treat us as an afterthought if we're even considered at all in queer history & now so thank you it means a lot !!
hello there, thanks for taking the time to send this message!
i'd like to be more inclusive and help talk about two spirit identities more- currently, i feel like i'm not as educated as i'd like to be, as i've only known a small handful of two spirit folks personally. i'd like to make sure i'm being as respectful and accurate as possible whenever i do mention these identities and issues, because i know so much of that eurocentricism ends up alienating a lot of two spirit individuals
i attended a queer rights conference in 2011 or so, and listened to an indigenous speaker on two spirit issues. there, i was introduced to the concept that many two spirit people do NOT consider themselves queer or LGBT due to how eurocentric those identities are. i know that not every two spirit person feels this way, but it's helped me realize that not every two spirit person identifies the same way, just like anyone else, and it's important to listen to that diversity in experience and not force people into a system that may not fit them at all whatsoever
but there's also what you're discussing, which is that many two spirit people do identify as trans and/or queer, and white queers just do their very best to ignore that or act as though it's not something that belongs in the community. cultural queer identities are extremely important and if a two spirit person believes they fit into the queer community due to their experiences, that is their right and their experience deserves to be discussed just like anyone else's, as it's complex and nuanced just like any other LGBTQ identity
i am here to both uplift two spirit and indigenous people, while also not putting words into their mouths and speaking as though i'm a master on an identity i will literally never understand personally. it's not my place to try to understand it from a personal standpoint, but it is my place to try to help people feel welcome in how they identify, whether or not they feel they fit into our white eurocentric concepts of queerness, but also to not deny that person's identity if they do feel like they are part of the queer umbrella
it's still something that's extremely important to talk about, just like how it's important to discuss intersex people who do not view themselves as queer due to their intersex conditions. i know there are many white people out there who would ask a two spirit person "why not just identify as bigender or genderfluid?" which is so painfully disrespectful. some people's identities are inherently tied to their culture and that desires to be heard
some two spirit people identify as trans and queer, and some don't, and that's okay. every person who has this experience deserves to talk about it and feel represented, and not feel like their identity is a backseat to everyone else's. if anyone has good resources on two spirit identities actually written by indigenous people, i would love to read more. unfortunately so much information on the internet has been written by those same white europeans and their descendants and i do not want to listen to those voices at all when it comes to this subject
i hope to be even more inclusive in the future! thanks for your kind message, i hope to become even more inclusive and educated as time goes on. hope you are well, take care of yourself!

List of dimensional variants/counterparts of Enid and Wednesday introduced in my fanfiction Kooky Spooky in order of appearance.
This means that other characters that are counterparts such as Taylor Galpin, the Yoko and Weems from Agent A's dimension and the rest of the Adamos (High Fantasy Addams Family) are not on this list. Only Enids and Weds.
(Artwork from Kris6758 on Twitter)
First, those with some weight in the plot:
Eamon Sinclair (Chapter 1): Initially named in Chapter 1, with no formal appearance until Chapter 43. Eamon is a male counterpart of Enid and husband of Friday (the Wednesday from the 1973 cartoon). Basically, he is "our" Enid if she had been born male. Standard lycanthrope, though exceptionally strong.
Thursday (Chapter 9): Wednesday Thursday Addams. As Eamon, a male counterpart to Wednesday and Friday's cell neighbor. He looks identical to a teenage Gomez but with no mustache and with Fester's pallor.
Enid Saint-Clair (Chapter 19): The Enid of Woe's dimension (the Wednesday of the '90s movies). Brunette, of Greek descent and werecat rather than werewolf. Affable and nice, though with psychopathic tendencies and a love for exacerbated violence. Loves to fight people who can keep up with her. To call her "kitten" is to invite death. Better just call her “Nid”.
Agent A (Chapter 22): Wednesday Tuesday Addams. The Wednesday from a dimension gone to hell (literally). She's a grown woman in her forties, dresses like she's a MIB and is a practitioner of magic. She's also one of the few Wednesdays who doesn't make use of her pigtails or pull her hair back in any way, leaving her hair loose. If you want to put a face on her, I imagine her as Hailee Steinfeld about 16 years from now.
Wodnesdæg (Chapter 35): Lord Wodnesdæg of the House of Adamo, Prince of the Kingdom of Nova Gersia. Wod to his closest family and friends. Trans male version of Wednesday. He collects his hair in two short but thick pigtails. Likes to wear black armor that makes him look like the stereotypical Dark Lord from a fantasy novel, but first impressions aside his personality is closer to that of a Gomez Addams.
Eneit Synklar (Chapter 35): Enid's variant from Wodnesdæg's dimension and his betrothed. A barbarian and werewolf princess Enid, extremely tall and muscular, usually dressed in furs or light leather armor. Very outgoing, affable and friendly, though she lacks a bit of tact and has no qualms about breaking in half anyone who messes with her loved ones.
[UPDATE] The Bright One: SPOILERS! Read the fic 😁
Now, the ones that are more cameos:
Chapter 43:
A golden tyrannosaurus Enid and her ape-like sidekick Wednesday, inspired by the original comic book versions of Devil Dinosaur and Moon Boy.
A middle-aged futuristic soldier Enid.
A Wednesday who looks like a living marble statue with golden cracks adorning her skin and luminous white hair.
A Wednesday and Enid who look like stereotypical pirates.
Gargoyle Enid. A purple-skinned Enid with horns, tail and wings, inspired by the characters from the Disney series Gargoyles.
Chapter 45:
Cyborg-lycanthrope Enid.
Vampire Wednesday, armed with a spear.
Reverse Enid and Wednesday: A violent lycanthropic but black-furred Enid accompanied by a disturbingly extroverted blonde Wednesday.
The younglings: A group of five or six young Wednesdays, the oldest no older than seven.
Saiyan Enid: A brunette-haired martial artist Enid with ki abilities, orange robes, staff and monkey tail. Inspired by Dragon Ball, although it can be interpreted as a reference to Journey to the West as well.
Gunslinger Enid and Wednesday, as if out of a classic Hollywood Western.
Sasquatch Enid.
The witches: Two Enids, one of them in school uniform and wand-wielding, clearly inspired by the Potterverse novels/films or other similar works. The second Enid, with green skin and black clothes, pointy hat and broom is more inspired by The Wizard of Oz and Wicked.
Punk-looking Enid with cybernetic implants like blades in her arms. Inspired by Cyberpunk 2077.
Angelic Enid, alternates between a humanoid form with wings and a fire-wheel form with multiple eyes.
Hellboy Wednesday (Hellgirl?).
[UPDATE] Chapter 50:
A witch-like Enid with a talking cat familiar.

Queerness and the House of Usher (spoilers!)
See I just added these Thoughts to the tags in @quecksilvereyes 's post but now I have Feelings too
TFotHoU (or HoU, as I will refer to it here), as expected from a Mike Flannagan show, has a bunch of Queer Rep™ to talk about. HoU is, also, about remarkably evil people - amoral capitalists who'll step over anyone if it means they'll get something from it. And look! Some of them are queer! Kinky too!
That's bad queer representation... right?
The show isn't that clear when stablishing sexualities, but we see that at least three of the Usher kids - Napoleon, Camille and Victorine - have same sex SOs/assistants with curious job descriptions. Prospero's taste for orgies probably implies queerness too, but honestly I don't remember if he gets it going with any guys in the story. I honestly have no idea about Tamerlane's voyerism thingie and Frederick is the only one with a "traditional family" going on.
Unrelated, but: Leo is definitely cheating on his bf Julius. Completely dismissing about his worries for him too. And for his cat. That's objectively evil, clearly. Vic literally killed her fiancée Alessandra, though she didn't stuff her under the floorboard, which is an L when compared to Poe's original. Cam doesn't believe in true love. Perry blackmailed his sister in law. Mean. He's also got a surprisingly high kill count for the family's disappointment, but since unlike Roderick he only killed rich people, we stan. I don't belong in Kinky spaces so I haven't got a big take on Tammie, only that - well, she's completely dismissing of her husband and sees him as a prop, just like the sex worker she hires.
Huh.
See, the nature of a story called "the fall of X family" is that X family is going to be the main character. The title kinda implies that they're falling for a reason, ergo, they're despicable fucking people. And they're queer! They're very queer. Many flavors of gay. They're the main characters, and they're monsters, and they're gay.
No, that's not bad rep.
Queerness as a movement, a community and a theory is very focused on scaping a cisheteronormative society's binaries (ie man/woman, husband/wife, public/private) and creating living conditions to those who fall outside of these categories - mlms and wlws, the trans, the nbs, the aros and aces... we are all queer, strange and estranged from this weird and limited worldview. And so we create a community for ourselves. It's very focused on care and anti-stablishment. Since a cisheteronormative society tends to be very white, rich and western, it's also focuses on anti-racism, anti-capitalism, anti-imperialism. Y'all know that, this is Tumblr and we love leftist Discourse.
I also know many, many gay people irl who are not like that at all. Libertarians, anarcho-capitalists, terfs, completely apolitical people and the like. Sexuality at it's core is personal, not political, so there are gay people out there who are perfectly comfortable with their sexuality on an individual level but do not see the point of getting involved in the broader context. They're queer, but are they...?
Well—
Not to mention there's lots of asshole gays out there! Don't you have a shitty ex? Have you never been almost run over by a drunken butch who blew cigar smoke into your face? I have! Life experiences are just like that. Maybe you should touch more grass. You'll probably find a lucky gift from your neighbour's dog, who is an astrology-obsessed bisexual and also really hot but stopped making out with you at a party once she found out you're a pisces (the neighbour, not the dog).
(Granted, none of this is as bad as implanting an experimental heart contraption into the fiancée you just killed because she dared to have ethical principles and then being so consumed with grief you stab yourself in front you'd your dad but you know how it goes. We're not the 1%.)
My point is, queer people are people. We are complex. We fuck up, and sometimes there's still times to fix things and sometimes... there isn't. We're consumed by jealousy and regret and sometimes we're so locked into our own head we stop believing the rest of the world is real too. Just like any other people, because unfortunately, queerness isn't a sign of morality.
And even if queerness does mean community, kindness and acceptance, tell me... Where the hell would the Usher kids get those from? The people around them are not really peers – they're ass-istants, blowjob-giving apartments, orgy mates, heart surgery providers, hired fitness moneybags, perfect housewives. Even if the partners are all shown to care for the Ushers, there's still a distance, a power gap, that makes the relationships fundamentally wrong.
And the partners? Arguably they're the good queer rep in the show, but look – even when Julius and Alessandra are shown to be good people (or at least people with an ethical boundary), they're not the good gays, they're simply the good SO's to a family of psychos. Exactly like Bill and Morrie, who afawk are straight people.
Which leads us to HoU's parameter of morality - Auguste Dupin. He refuses to drink the Amontillado, symbol of all the Usher opulence over the years. He got screwed over by the Usher twins and by the Raven herself, but he refused to cave in (except for the informant part, admittedly). He's not a good gay guy; he is gay and he is a good man.
The fundamental difference between our show's main tragic yaoi couple isn't that Auggie is a happily out gay man (and therefore is good) while Roderick is a sad divorced hetero (and therefore is bad). Auggie is the richer man because he is a good man; he has a spouse and children and grandchildren he loves with all his heart. He has a family and a community and he has found a sort of happiness no money can buy. Roderick owns the world – but what does he really have? What do his children even have? How could they ever build communities for themselves if they were never in one? Their father made them compete for his love. He never nurtured their bonds, he just showered them with money and excess until it was too much for them to handle. Juno herself pointed out - they were never a family. The House of Usher was only that. A house. It is empty and soulless.
What is queerness without a community? How could the people who represent the relentless corporate normativity and cutthroat capitalism ever be good queer rep? How can they even be queer?
Hear me out: on the most individual, simple level, being queer is still about not fitting in. These kids are bastards. They are are PoC and women in a predominantly male and white dominated space. They're on top of the world, but they're still outsiders to their own House. How could they not be queer?
And yes, I know this discussion takes a different turn when it comes to representation in media, but it's not like Flannagan fell into a Hays Code-era flamboyant villain trope. Queerness is just there. Just like Victorine and August are both black people in (arguably) the opposite ends of the morality spectrum, there are queer characters of many kinds here. The story just happens to be about the fucked up ones.
HoU is a poignant critique of capitalism and a surprisingly funny adaptation of Poe. We'll judge it by that. It happens to be queer – more things should be.

Ben has literally liked transphobic posts by Vivek Ramaswamy. People like to uwu him for transphobia but he’s no better than Andrey. Just smarter for keeping it under wraps
DISCLAIMER: this is a long ass post im so sorry anon I kind of used this ask to talk about what I expect from players in general.
as i was writing that post i was like someone is definitely going to send me an anon about something problematic he did. this is no slight on u dear anon but let me explain why i still made the post.
on the most basic level, the post was hyperbolic, I think we all know this. Any sort of definitive statement like that is going to have exceptions. So my first reason to still make the post is that people will generally know to take it with a grain of salt.
The second reason is that I am not looking to sportspeople as beacons of morality. Whether our opinions align can and often does affect my support of them, but my support of them as an athlete is never a blanket support of them as a person. I don't know them and I almost certainly never will; i just like watching them hit a ball.
The third reason, and one that isn't always applicable but I'd say is extra applicable to someone like Ben is that I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm a generally forgiving person, which has its pros and cons, but it means im naturally inclined to see the best in people. Ben is young, he's my age actually, and he lives a life that i could never hope to imagine. All these athletes do. Is that an excuse for prejudice? No, but it gives me hope that that prejudice comes from a place of ignorance not hatred.
The last three incidents of player prejudice (at least that I know of) have been Andrey, Paula and now Ben although i have not personally seen proof of this. Two counts of transphobia and one of anti-asian racism. I'm trans and asian (not Chinese, which is worth mentioning since Paula's incident was ostensibly anti-chinese, but is also an act used indiscriminately against all Asians).
Maybe I should expect more, but I'm almost always operating on the basis that a celebrity would hatecrime me, intentionally or not. I'm never really surprised when it comes out that a player did something problematic. And in these specific instances they are prejudices against groups I am a part of (or sort of adjacent to, not that white people know the difference between East Asians and South East Asians lol).
I am still mad at Andrey for his transphobic remarks against Imane because they were rash, uninformed, and very public. But I also don't think he's a terrible person. He's done a lot of things I don't agree with, but I'm not personally totally blanking him from my support, just sort of toning it down.
I was never that mad at Paula for that photo, again, maybe I should have been but to me it never came off as hateful, just ignorant. I mean i don't think she would have let the photo be taken and posted if she'd done it with intentional prejudice. I know the post got deleted but I don't know if she ever officially apologised, I wasn't keeping up, but I do think she should have. To me, that was the action of a sheltered western european white woman who wouldn't recognise intersectionality if you hit her over the head with it.
Now on to the man in question. You say he liked posts by a transphobe. Liking a post can mean many things, and it doesn't always mean unequivocal support. Liking several posts does, admittedly, get a little murkier. But my relationship with celebrities does not and can not account for their private beliefs. If a famous person is a bigot but they never mention it anywhere and there's no way for me to know what am I supposed to do? Sure, for some the absence of word or action against prejudice is bad enough (and this is a totally valid position to take) but I must refer you back to point 2. I'm simply not expecting explicit social justice from professional athletes. Am I positively jubilant when they do engage with it? Of course! But these are people so far removed from regular society. They spend every waking hour either hitting a ball or thinking about hitting a ball. I follow them to watch them hit said ball. (It also feels pertinent to mention that i only speak English and many of these players do not have english as a mother tongue. I can't expect perfect nuanced conversations this way).
So. Ben liked some transphobic posts. Could he be transphobic? Maybe. But also maybe not. Or maybe with a couple conversations he could learn to not be. I can't affect that. What I can do is find him funny and nice enough in videos, and talented at tennis. I can recognise that he is young, and deals with a lot of racism himself, which I'd hope would make him more sympathetic to people experiencing other kinds of prejudice. I can decide to continue to support him. Despite what I said in my last post about him, you do not have to.
TLDR my support for a tennis player is not unequivocal support for them as a person
#i was gonna add stuff about novak but this post is so long already#essentially i was gonna say the same thing applies to fans of novak#im not a super fan of him but hes not my biggest opp#we disagree on a lot of things and i do think he has done harmful things. he also seems like a nice enough guy#i dont know enough about eastern european politics to get into his opinions on that#but as a guy who is a tennis player hes alright#dont talk to me about him as a guy who is a guy#ask#anon#serious post#do i have a serious post tag idk

This is something I'm very hesitant to talk about but it's constantly on my mind, it has been for years now and I feel the need to let it out somewhere.
We live in a very, very deeply mysogynist world. Misogyny is something every woman (and trans/NB people) regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, wealth, power or privilege experiences almost on a daily basis. Some are harmed by it far more than others but no one is completely un-harmed. It is horrifying and cruel but also normalised, and there are so so many people out there who are looking for any and every excuse to justify the misogyny.
Some of them stick to the old tried and true wokeness ruining stuff narrative, but others have started adopting something far more gross. It's the 'women can be abusers too' narrative.
Let me be clear yes of course I know that women can indeed be the abusers. What I'm talking about here is the weaponization of this phrase. Men use this narrative to hide their own abuse and use DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender) to make their victims look like the bad guy.
We (and I'm not excluding myself from this group) so desperately want to believe that if a woman has enough wealth and power and privilege she could become immune to the harm misogyny causes, because if people like taylor swift and Blake Lively are not immune to it then what chance do rest of us stand?
So we are sometimes a little too eager to believe that women are indeed lying for fame and fortune. Actually feminist make lots of genuine efforts to be as considerate and as inclusive of men as possible. We desperately want to believe that any man we like is a good feminist man. And the bar is so low for that. So many men will say and do a fraction of what most women do and still be praised for being feminist. I can't help but think that 'women can be abusers too' often gets used as a replacement for 'she's a gold digger' or 'she's making false allegations to ruin his life'.
There is an assumption that it's just natural for men to be a little misogynist at the start so we are far more accepting of their change and growth. But God forbid a woman comes across as mean in an interview. Also while we are on the topic how many times do we hear men being mean in interviews? Is it just me or the word mean is used for women far more than it is used for men?
White feminism is another term I've seen being used a lot in the USA and western world in general. Most of the times I've seen this phrase pop up is when a rich white woman is talking about various forms of misogyny she has faced. I'm well aware that white feminism is indeed a real harmful thing but even this term is used as a weapon to dismiss misogyny rich white woman faces. It always sounds like what you been through is not a big deal, misogyny is not a big deal, there are more serious/ real issues in the world so stop complaining about this non issue. Someone has it worse so you have no right to complain.
I've personally seen this argument I've seen used against Taylor Swift a lot. I'm not American or white or straight and yet I find myself relating to her experience so often. So it always baffles me because how is her talking about her personal experiences alienating to women of colour? The reality is all women face misogyny in all sorts of ways and pointing to a woman's privilege to dismiss the misogyny she faced is just one of many many tactics. I guarantee you that your favourite non white, non straight, non american female celebrity or you know literally any random women that you know, (and most likely you yourself), also has their experiences dismissed only the wording of it was a little different.
My point is saying all of this is please don't fall for it. Even if the woman is the richest, whitest, meanest, most privileged bitch, take everything negative said about her with a grain of salt and if she is talking about abuse or sexual assault put your feelings aside and believe her.
#femimism#misogyny#taylor swift#blake lively#i know this is all over the place#but this is my best attempt at preventing myself from writing a long rambly 10 page rant#no one will probably read this but a lot of this post was fueled by my rage at a youtuber called Swoop#i made the mistake of watching some of her heard v depp react video#and it was incredibly disgusting to watch this woman who claimed to be a victim of abuse and rape bend over backwards#to defend a abusive wife beater rapist#that anger and the blake lively situation finally made me write this

The "ideal range" including being cishet. If anyone says the words "AFAB privilege" to you, get the fuck out of there. No trans person has any privilege over anyone else.
Transphobes are very aware of trans men and other trans people who menstruate who aren't women. Transphobic cis women and TERFs especially are pissed at "making mentruation gender-neutral" because of their "divine femininity" bullcrab based in bleeding once a month and being able to get pregnant, because "men couldn't handle that" and that makes them ~special~. So men* and other people who aren't women doing those things (literally just... menstruating and some of them getting pregnant) and "visibly"** doing so pisses them off. (*I mean both trans men and intersex men (wether they're trans or cis or both or neither or whatever) btw, **visibly meaning just existing and not hidding in a hole when they're pregnant and, well, TERFs simply just having to see menstrual products that aren't plastered with Venus-symbols and "GIRL POWER" and all that shit, and hear people say "pregnant people" and "people who menstruate". Because apparently that is enough to "destroy womanhood" and "erase women". But those terms aren't used for trans women primarily, but trans (and intersex!) people who menstruate and get pregnant but who aren't women. Idk how people keep forgetting that.) (Has nothing to do with the rest of the ask, but my TikTok did that literally twice. I saw the beginning of some extremely transandrophobic videos and the app shuts down before I can even get angry or scroll. And then I get a cute dog video instead, which is what I'm actually on TT for. I don't know. I think that's funny because those two exact instances where the only times that happened. Probably my brain's just fried rn and it's not actually as funny as I think but whatever.)
TRFs barely want to acknowledge you exist, they seem to think no one else could possibly care about you and that you should simply be thankful they allow you to reblog their posts about how all transphobia is transmisogyny.
while hes a virulently antiasian asshole, among other things, so his actions arent surprising, there are others who share his opinion. like i get the sentiment behind it. chinas attitudes and laws regarding lgbtq rights are appalling, let alone its treatment of lqbtq+ people and their advocates. but saying you wish this non-western thing was remade in the western is still a racist thing to say when the the western media has readily and blatantly stolen from non-western stories, media, etc and remade things verbatim just with an all white cast. i know people want more rep and i understand that but please consider what youre saying especially when you are consuming media whose countries of origin circumstances and culture you do not understand. also it was really weird that james somerton got called out on tons of shit, rightfully so mind you, including but not limited to plagiarism, misogyny, transphobia, being a scammer and yet no one said a word about his out right antiasian racism when he was making multiple videos talking out his ass about asian media. idk just think its kinda strange.
I didn't know about any of that, but it does sound like Somerton.

been on the fence about saying this. don't really want to become a politicized blog, but still, i think it's worth mentioning
but over the last few years, i've been noticing a trend - just personally noticing, i'm not saying it's exclusive to the last few years bc i doubt it is - about leftist people becoming radicalized in ways rooted in exclusivity
and the thing is, this happens. propaganda works. exposure to ideas works. and then, once the beliefs begin to take root, there's a reactiveness there, a defensiveness, that becomes harder and harder to get around. i say this as someone who's been there, and is really determined to never return. but it takes intention
so, one thing i've been seeing a lot of since the election is a wave of hating all men. i get it. really, i do. but i am here to gently, compassionately remind ppl that this is the exact opening te/rfs look for. this is their in. they'll like your posts about hating men. they'll establish a connection, a rapport
some other points about the All Men Are Awful Monsters discourse:
harms trans men, like myself. contributes to us feeling like accepting the gender we are is harmful, damaging, etc. makes us more likely to stay in the closet. also works to exclude trans men - especially those who pass - from queer spaces
speaking personally, when ppl seem to accept the fact that i'm a man but turn around and disparage all men, i feel like they view me as a woman-turned-man, or a Man Lite, or something else along those lines. i'm not! i'm just a guy.
harms trans women. whether through arguments of "male socialization," or considering the penis to be a tool of violence rather than just genitalia, or through only accepting them provisionally, if they're feminine enough, if they pass enough, etc
harms all trans people, including nonbinary people, because it demonizes the role of masculinity; whether that's a past role for them, or a present role, or a partial/sometimes role, or something else entirely
harms disabled men, neurodivergent men, queer men, POC men, etc.
specifically works to support some really heinous stereotypes about certain groups of men, like Black men
and also
makes men - including cishet, white, able-bodied men, privileged men - less likely to escape their own radicalization. i don't expect this point to matter to everyone, but if any of your personal activism work revolves around deradicalization, i think this has to be one of your tenets
and none of this is to say:
that you have to admire or forgive men who do bad things
that you have to forgive men who have abused you or others
that you have to accept patriarchy
that you cannot speak of your own abuse or struggles
that you must, personally, guide every man to what is "right"
that you cannot point out things like how western men have voted in the recent election
it's really just about questioning the "all men" phrasing. i understand where it's coming from. i get the pushback against the "not all men" argument, i really do. i sympathize with the frustrations. but anytime you take a whole entire demographic and label them in one way, you are limiting your own perspective, whether that's your intent or not
the language we use matters. that includes the language we use in our own thoughts. repetition creates pathways, pathways become familiar routes, familiar routes become ingrained, and ingrained routes become very, very difficult to question. yes, you know that your "all men" is really just saying "all men who do bad things," but brains are silly. all men can eventually come to mean all men. all of them. forever. and even if that wasn't true, your "all men" might mean "all men who do bad things," but you'll draw in people who think you literally mean every single man
i'm not trying to shame anyone. i'm not trying to start an argument. i'm just saying, from experience, that this is something to be aware of. and even if the potential harm to men and trans people doesn't really matter to you, i'd hope that most of the people following me don't want to be sought after for recruitment by te/rfs, so that's something to keep in mind
#i know i should tag this#but idk how tagging works exactly anymore#like in terms of the search function#and i want to avoid being in the search function#as much as possible with this post#so lots of rambly tagging first#before tagging for filters#okay here we go#discourse#cw: discourse#politics#cw: politics#terfs#cw: terfs

Made with speech to text.
All right I guess that's enough of scrolling through the Xenogenesis tag. Did not expect to see anybody claiming that the raping colonizing brainwashing aliens are bad and harmful representation for trans people...because they use it/its pronouns.
Not because of any of the brainwashing or raping or colonization or slavery...no. Just the it/its pronouns. Somehow that's what's offensive here. The fact that one of their three genders uses it/its pronouns.
When they're literally not even remotely a metaphor for trans people. They are not meant to represent trans people in any way shape or form.
Saying that Octavia Butler failed to tell the story she wanted to tell because she... Used genderless pronouns for the alien third sex that does not fit into the white western gender binary is the height of self-absorption and hubris. That is not how this works.
The story would not be better representation or less offensive if ooloi used they/them pronouns because they're not trans in the first place. They're not nonbinary. In order to be nonbinary their first must be a binary to not be a part of. The ooloi are a third sex of an alien species. They are not there to represent nonbinary or trans people in any way, they're literally just aliens being alien. That's the whole point! that they're alien! they're not human!
It is not offensive in any way that aliens of a third sex of an alien species use it/its pronouns. The existence of it/its pronouns is not a crime against trans people. That's not how this works.
Octavia Butler did not fail to tell her story in any way just because you don't like the words she chose to use. Nothing about the tools she used to tell this story where "inadequate" just because you don't like the story. That's not what that means. She was not lacking in progressive terminology to refer to trans people with because these books are not about trans people. The ooloi are not trans. They are not trans-coded. The books even explicitly state that there is literally no equivalent for them among humans. And that specific part is a failure of the author to understand that nonbinary people actually exist in real life, but absolutely no part of the story is failing or inadequate because they use it/its pronouns.
This is not how this works and I'm never going to get over that post ever I will be complaining about it 10 years in the future and I guarantee you this right now.
By the way my pronouns are it/its. I'm a real person that actually exists. We do not, as many people think, literally only exists in science fiction.
You do not need to protect trans people from the existence of it/its pronouns because many trans people literally use those pronouns.
You especially do not need to say that Octavia Butler failed to tell her story properly because she didn't use pronouns you agree with for the aliens who are literally not meant to represent trans people in any way in the first place.

If law schools want increase their diversity they could just accept actual women of color. Instead of a trans identified man that called a qualified psychiatrist a “white bitch” because she diagnosed him with a mental disorder.
One of the nation’s most prestigious law schools admitted a transgender student who in his application dismissed his diagnoses of mental disorders as coming from a “white bitch” psychiatrist in “Amerikkka,” then later cursed out a feminist law professor as transphobic and sent bizarre emails to the entire student body, according to documents reviewed by The Daily Wire.
Northwestern School of Law capitulated to the student, Ishani Chokshi, and even gave him his own law journal, which published his screeds likening judges’ gavels to “dildos.” And last month, a year after Chokshi graduated, a prestigious law journal published a “legal paper” by him that details his purported sexual escapades with seven men.
On May 3, Northwestern Law’s Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology published “Of Law and Men,” attributed to “badgaltranny,” an alias of Chokshi, in which he wrote, “I, an Indian-American transgender woman, share stories of my sexual escapades with seven Trump supporters.”
The publication of the profane screed in a reputable journal gives insight into the culture that has overtaken top law schools, including the shouting down of a conservative federal judge by Stanford Law students who said they felt too unsafe to participate in a debate.
As law schools scrambled to increase “diversity” by admitting more minorities, the highly selective Evanston, Illinois, school bit at Chokshi’s application, which an email he later sent to the whole school suggested consisted of a “personal statement” railing against whites and the West and delving into his sexuality.
“This is the story of the time I overcome a crippling misdiagnosis by a white bitchy psychologist; it is also the story of how I came to terms with myself as a transgender woman,” the personal statement began. “It puts me in the clichéd paradox of having to prove my sanity to you, something I like to think I already did for my undergraduate thesis and didn’t intend on repeating for anyone (especially not a bunch of lawyers).”
“You see, I fell into the Western lack of space when a white woman misdiagnosed me with ‘other’ psychosis and ‘possible’ schizophrenia, a fate all too common for trans women of color. For the cherry on top, she told me that I would never get into any law school (especially not Harvard) due to my cannabis use… As I had just smoked a joint before coming into the office, this frightened me.”
In reality, Chokshi said, “my verbal fluency was essentially unmatchable, my overall intelligence: very superior, and my emotional intelligence: extraordinary.”
“A Black woman who did my initial intake, revolted against her boss’s misdiagnosis. She did not see my pain as psychotic, but real. She rediagnosed me with the holy trinity of anxiety, depression, and PTSD… The psychologists’ differing diagnoses, literally black-and-white, is a poetic microcosm of American racial consciousness.”
But once Chokshi was on campus, his actions raised questions about which therapist was right.
He routinely spammed a listserv that included every member of the student body with sentiments such as “it is not the judge’s tongue but his c–k which reins [sic].” The emails, reviewed by The Daily Wire, also included mundane musings such as “I am emailing because today is my birthday… I am asking for donations of $5,000 and $10,000.”
In January 2020, Northwestern awarded Chokshi the “winner of the MLK Dream Week Chicago Campus Oratorical Contest.”
The chaos was not limited to cyberspace. After a professor, Tonja Jacobi, asked Chokshi to move away from the doorway when smoking a cigarette, Chokshi screamed that she was a “f–king bitch.” Chokshi eventually issued a seemingly forced apology to Jacobi, saying, “I am emailing to deliver you my apology for the smoking incident a few weeks ago… I spoke disrespectfully and offensively to your request that I move further away from the door.”
Jacobi did not accept the apology, copying administrators and saying that Chokshi was anti-woman.
“This was not a ‘smoking incident;’ this was verbal abuse combined with sexist epithets and bullying conduct,” she wrote. “I have made Northwestern’s office of equity aware of the situation because it meets the criteria for discriminatory and harassing conduct based on a protected category.”
Chokshi then took to the all-student listserv saying Jacobi had “harassed” him. Jacobi, who is accomplished in advancing women’s rights, took umbrage and said so.
“I dispute that there was any harassment, and certainly I had no interaction with you that had any relationship to you being trans,” Jacobi wrote in an email to Chokshi. “This claim and the implication it carries can only do considerable harm to the important cause of promoting the rights of trans persons… I read that email as you crying wolf.”
Chokshi then targeted Jacobi’s race, denigrating her as a “yt woman” in an email to the entire student body.
“Unfortunately, I’ve been compelled to email the whole listserv again about my experience at the hands of a faculty member,” it began. Chokshi claimed that Dean Kimberly A. Yuracko had taken his side against Jacobi and written to him to say, “[i]n addition to communicating to [Tonja Jacobi] that her behavior was uncivil, inappropriate, and out of line, I will also instruct her not to contact you… I will also speak with Tonja about the myriad power dynamics at play between the two of you and ensure she is mindful of those dynamics and does not use them to her unfair advantage.”
Chokshi asked students to flood Jacobi’s inbox to “educate her about the ways white women weaponize their ‘hurt feelings’ to demonize women of color, and especially trans women of color, to paint us as ‘aggressive’ whenever we resist ill treatment by their hands.” They should also “Email Dean Yuracko… asking for radical changes to the structure, culture, and approach to leadership at the law school.” If students “decline” to do this, “please refrain from offering me your sympathies… Honestly, I’m f–king tired,” Chokshi wrote.
The school’s identity groups, such as the Black Law Students Association, co-wrote an “open letter” doing as Chokshi instructed.
In August 2021, the Northwestern University Law Review, its most competitive journal, published an article by Chokshi in which he explained how he argued a mock case by saying, “In closing, I would like to note that I am a trans woman of color and so you should decide for me.”
In April 2022, Northwestern appeared to make further concessions to Chokshi by creating a new law journal for him. “Please consider applying for the Executive Board of the Northwestern Law Journal des Refusés(NLJR), approved just a few weeks ago by Dean Hari Osofsky for an initial 2-year probationary period!” he wrote to the student body, calling it “the newest, coolest, hippest, most ~avant-garde~ Journal of Law on the block.”
The journal published a book of Chokshi’s ramblings on gavel dildos and other topics and distributed it around campus.
Chokshi graduated in May 2022. But last month, the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, a longstanding law journal, belatedly published his paper about his sexual escapades.
“I invited them into my bed. The boys. Seven of them I know for sure were Trumpies, many others I can only hazard a guess,” the supposedly academic paper read. “The second of my seven Trumpies told me conspiracies about Jews as I laid naked in his lap,” it said. “My third Trumpy had a framed picture of Bannon on his piano. … He would f–k me furiously and never climax.”
“I see all the Jew-skeptic, Black-fearing, tranny-f–king Trumpies talking eloquently about how ‘the lack of respect for Law & Order is the main thing’ as they vote for the man who has never submitted to neither Law nor Woman. … I see genocide in our future,” it continued.
“When Law Professor Storyhaters label storytelling as too biased for legitimate scholarship, they do not have legitimate worries of psychobabble. … Theorizing gives Storyhaters a false sense of power over their own psychosexual frustrations.”
The journal’s editors did not respond to questions about its legal and academic value, nor did Chokshi.

Something that has been on my mind is the way that this website is full of people who want to oppose TERFs more than they want to defend trans people and we are never gonna succeed by applying this method.
So many people have taken the stance that all TERFs are wrong about every belief they hold, that anything they say is one slippery slope into Nazism, and that is a fundamental misunderstanding of why TERFs are able to draw people to their side and how it is they operate.
TERFs are dangerous because they will tell you 99 truths to make you believe one lie.
TERFs appeal to potential converts by holding a LOT of the same beliefs and convictions that most of us who fall on the political left and who support social justice movements do.
So when a stealth TERF says something like "makeup bloggers, shady self-care gurus, and tiktok influencers getting plastic surgery who all appeal to one white western beauty standard isn't good for impressionable teens to be consuming constantly," and your response is to reactionarily oppose what they're saying because they're a TERF ala "fuck off, makeup rules and plastic surgery is great," you've fallen for their trap.
Because they've said something relatively sane sounding, and you've made yourself look like the unhinged one with shitty politics. And the person who hasn't been exposed to these TERF talking points and stealth missions, who also feels like maybe being bombarded by shallow looks-obsessed media isn't good for young girls' self-image, has one of two choices: believe what they see right in front of them, or take your word for it that OP is the secret villain and somehow you, who appear to hold the same values as a Fox News host, are right.
Like, some of the takes I have seen people on tumblr promote JUST to oppose a radfem are literally like something straight out of a Republican dude-bro's MAGA reddit channel. Telling women concerned about sexual assault and rape they're being sexist against men. That ANY discussion about patriarchy is transphobic and should be shut down. That all concerns about sexualizing women without their consent, or the role of violence in the porn industry, are just prudish anti-sex propaganda.
We are losing ground by ignoring what WE stand for in favor of only paying attention to what radfems stand for and opposing it. This is the exact tactic we mock Republicans and Democrats for doing, running a campaign based solely on what your opponent is doing wrong without offering any solutions or positions on issues. "TERF bad!" is not an ideology! "Trans people are human beings who deserve the same rights as their cisgender peers," is an ideology.
One thing I love to see is someone finding a good post by a radfem and refusing to engage with it, and potentially spreading OP's blog to more people, and instead making a whole new post with the same point that ISN'T going to potentially lead people down the radfem pipeline. Hell you can even leave a link to the new post in the replies of the original. I know saying "OP is right about this topic but they're a radfem so block them" probably doesn't feel as good as just leaving "die radfem scum" but when the topic is "women should be able to walk alone at night without being afraid" are you really doing a service to our cause by looking like you disagree with that? TERFs WANT to spread the message that trans people and their allies hate cis women and are a danger to them. Don't do their work for them...
It fucking SUCKS playing their game. It feels like being baited into a no-win situation. But making yourself look like a traditional misogynist isn't an L you have to take. There are other approaches.

OOC - on Nafaric social constructs analogous to gender
Because I want to talk about this even though ember doesn’t know it
Nafar don’t have a sex-based gender the way human cultures - or at least white western human cultures - do, and wouldn’t be able to understand the human concept of gender at all, from a cultural viewpoint. This is not to say that there are no boxes with stereotypes and tropes which people are put into, which would be in many ways analogous - there are!
But it’s based on elemental specification.
This means that 1) there are three genders in Nafaric mainstream culture and 2) while it is impossible to change specification, there is still the option to have a preference and presentation that is not in line with one’s inborn proclivity. The concept of being trans can exist, in quite a bit of variety.
I don’t have a rock solid idea of what the concepts about gender look like, but it is largely based (by the time ember was born) on combat roles
Fire
Fire specified Nafar are expected to be highly energetic, somewhat combative/aggressive proactive/offensive individuals. They charge ahead more than any other specification. In the military, these were offensive and frontline individuals noted for their uniquely destructive capabilities. In social settings, they are still expected to be proactive problem solvers, and are not usually thought of as individuals who take time to assess - the classic idea of a fire-specified Nafar is someone a lot like Ember, actually. Like literal flames, too, many are expected to change wildly from moment to moment, often without an easy to follow throughline.
A Nafar with a fire specification who took time to think things through before acting would at best be considered to be acting against their nature for a better solution, and more likely would be seen as overly cautious or timid and deviant as well; society perceives itself as needing someone to charge headlong into problems in order to progress, and so a person who came into that role would potentially be seen as an impediment to progress if they didn’t charge in fairly quickly. If I *had* to make a comparison to human genders, I would probably compare this to white western manhood, but I don’t view them as a perfect comparison to each other.
2. Ice
In combat, ice specified Nafar are defensive players, with a proclivity for literal barriers. They are often seen as calmer, sometimes to the extent of being non reactive or unemotional; while this may be seen as a negative by most humans, and would absolutely be seen as deviant from a fire or water specified Nafar, it is seen as a strength in an ice specified Nafar. They are seen as steadfast, steady, and are the ones expected to take their time and think things through.
Ice specified Nafar are often favored for governmental-type roles analogous to the legislative branch of the us, as they are more often expected to take the long view and mitigate problems before they become major. Situationally, ice specified individuals might be permitted socially to act without thinking, as in a severe and time sensitive crisis, but outside of situations which necessitated it, it would be seen as a failure to live up to their potential, and potentially as laziness. This construct doesn’t have an easy analogy in human gender. It’s a blend of traits expected of both white western men and women in what seems to me to be roughly equal proportion.
3. Water
This is the rarest of all specifications, as it requires near equilibrium early in life in magical and physical factors for a Nafar to settle into a water specification.
Unlike fire and ice, water is a non-combat role; they’re the healers of Nafaric society. Neither as fleeting as fire, nor as slow to change as ice, water is seen as fluid, with expectations that there is a clear path in the changes they take. There is also a belief that, like water, they change to fit their setting. Socially, therefore, they are expected to be diplomatic and also nurturing. It’s more similar to a human’s concept of maternal white womanhood than anything else, and as it is rare the rules are very strict around water.
Much like femininity is thought to be, this construct is at once claimed to be special and set above the other two groups in social importance - especially during violent periods - and expected to give of their energy to others as needed.
Unlike tradfem ideas, though, water are also viewed as being incredibly resilient, as a result of having neither the perceived brittleness of ice nor the expected fickleness of fire. While often water specified Nafar are considered to be in need of protection, this is more due to the rarity of the result than the actual need. A water specified Nafar is not only expected to be capable of holding their own, they are mandated to keep themselves going at nearly any cost by social expectations.
Water specified individuals are about one percent of the population, and the expected mix of traits that balance out of Fire and ice - as water is considered a separate element formed as a medium between the two - can sometimes be seen as somewhat analogous to the perisex persons conception of intersex individuals. Because this lends to the idea of intersexism being by definition a balance of two opposites existing in one being , which does not reflect the lived experience of the vast majority of intersex individuals, I try to keep a light touch with that. I don’t want to erase the potential entirely, either, though, as I’d like to see a fantasy setting which has more inclusion of intersex lives. (As a perisex individual, I am interested in hearing input from intersex individuals on this, although I am by no means relying on directly given input alone in the process of worldbuilding.)
What’s fascinating to me, though, stepping back into discussion of Nafaric gender-like constructs, is that no one Nafar is constrained to using only their specification. All Nafar have some ability in all three elements, and each Nafar can have a preference that does not match with their original specification.
Because each individual has the potential to use each element - and become highly proficient with it - I see Nafaric social constructs as being slightly less rigid, and more likely to overlap in one individual. I don’t know yet exactly how this plays out but I like the vibes so far.
#I would be interested to know your thoughts#none of these are intended to be direct correlations to a specific western gender#in fact I tried very hard to avoid just doing a fantasy flavored male-female-other group#Ooc

it is really an atrocious thing that calling someone a Zionist has become a way to exhibit general anti Jewish sentiment AS WELL as legitimately an insult evolving on par with "Nazi" - it's a shame western leftists and folks have not unlearned our genuine anti Jewish sentiment that runs so deep, because showing up for Palestine is deeply deeply important, there are Palestinian Jews, but also like, damn y'all when the Yemeni rapper made a song and had all the bad guys dressed like Orthodox men in it...that sucks, you realize, it does. but even talking about this is such a slap to the face comparatively to your children and journalists being literally shredded by bombs that people sign their names on and go and watch with popcorn as your people are annihilated.
I want to pursue conversion and just absolutely cannot deal with mainline Jewish spaces right now, nasty levels of denial, bargaining and victim blaming while also I understand the general lack of trust for anyone who isn't Jewish....but hey, shouldn't survivors of a people subjected to genocide empathetize deeply with Palestinians, Armenians, the peoples of Turtle Island, the Filipino people, the Congolese like ....this focus on isolation instead of solidarity is the problem. Is it not?
Palestinians are literally experiencing genocide and reaching out to the world with open arms. So if you are choosing bitterness and hate in the shelter of your enormous grief, that is your choice and not an inherent part of Jewishness, nor any ethnicity nor religion. I'm sorry but no trauma has ever nor will ever /justify/ becoming the person who carried out such violence to you.
So yeah I still do block white Jews whose main posting shtick is going on about how special Jewish people are and how oppressed and put on and reblogging even the smallest instance of anti-Semitism experienced while ignoring NOT ONLY Palestine but all the other countries undergoing violent proxy war, starvation, etc. same with trans people or literally anyone who's main thing is "look at all the ways I am victimized" while never turning an eye to the ways in which life has spared them or the ones who suffer at their expense.
The ancestors - do they really want to see you small and sniveling and snide? Or do they want to see you joyful passionate and principled?
Because that's why I turn to Judaism. To find joy and community and intelligence in the principles. Not in group-out group jokes.
I guess I'm ranting about religion being treated like a fandom. It's supposed to be about how you live your life. How you honor and view other people.
Or am I crazy?
Very grateful for the warm & open mystic Jewish friends made recently & humbling to learn about the broad extent of study represented by Judaism....so no I don't know everything. But I do know Israel is as evil as the United States, except more concentrated due to the recency and brutality of its violence.
That has nothing to do with anti-Semitism but ...I do think people have an obligation to point out Netanyahu was just a guy from the US. And that the majority of the horrible people in Israel, who riot for the right to rape, are also randos from other settler countries drawn there by Birthright. And that this is a deep horrific bloody stain on history.
You all are defending child rapists, serial killing remorseless cowards, literally incomprehensible evil in those prisons and you get to do so because...of history?
Come into the present now.
Someone recently said to me "Stop focusing on who you are and where you came from. Focus on where you are and who you came from. "
Where are you? Here, now. Watching 4k live streamed genocides.
Who did you come from? Resistance fighters and survivors and wise elders and many many people who made mistakes.
#i probably said at least one fucked up thing in this post#open to dialogue#not from zionists though until the bloodshed ends#because fuck this regime#Judaism#genocide#rape tw#cw rape#cw sa
