I remembered a Cosplay Magical Girl video game's demo was still installed so I decided to see if I could recreate some costumes in it.

I wasn't expecting anything absolutely exact, but I'm surprised at how close I could manage it with Aika and Eclipse. RIP DeVoid, the skirt options didn't extend to Evil Villainess design schemes.

Something that really sets Wille and Simon apart from other queer ships is that when we say their love language is physical touch, IT REALLY IS PHYSICAL TOUCH. And I’m not speaking of just sex. Over the course of the show, the amount of touching between them is astronomical. And that’s really something rarely seen in queer media. There may be moments here or there, but often times there’s a lack of physical contact unless it’s for “the plot”. Wille and Simon feel like a real couple in the way they’re always physically reaching out for each other.

i used to be a stendy hater, but my post about simone made me realize i like them a lot more as a divorced couple coparenting the sad little girl they spawned… like you know maybe they weren’t a good match romantically but theyre great friends and great parents and they can do good things together

i’ll ramble about it a little bit, k?

the post covid good ending was very frustrating to me bc (among other things) stendy keep trying to get back together in their 50s despite the miserable shitshow that their relationship is in canon at this point. like come on. i dont buy stan being in the military and i dont buy stan being straight after that interview, txc, the cissy, cupid ye AND season finale… the queer subtext of his character is too strong for me to even give later seasons stendy a chance. make him vomit again and make her less miserable and MAYBE i will buy it.

but like. okay. maybe they tried to get back together in their 30s and ended up having a child together, but didn’t last long until they were both was like “this was a mistake”. they let go of each other romantically but now there’s a baby involved oops. there’s no drama— wendy kinda saw it coming from the start, stan had to face his own family trauma and realize that maybe sometimes couples just don’t work out.

of course wendy has to name her after a feminist author. simone sounds better than virginia i guess.

stan starts living his life and gets a little too close to tweek again after him and craig divorce, wendy starts long distance dating to her weird douche husband from post covid… but they live together. then the baby grows a little older and they move out on their own, but they hang out for baby related things. they’re still involved in each other’s lives, go out for coffee, have dinner together and spend pick-up days with their kid.

wendy keeps custody of her on weekdays because stan isn’t good with schedules and she wants to put the kid in as many extracurricular activities as possible, keeping track of everything she does. she’s kind of overbearing so when baby simone starts complaining and acting out about it stan’s the one who picks up what’s happening, intervenes and asks her to cut her some slack— that’s a kid, not a project. she does it, though a little hesitantly. she starts having problems with depression very early on as well, so they take her to a therapist as soon as they understand that this is happening.

wendy sees stan in their kid all the time— her greasy bangs (which are also totally due to genetics) and big, sad eyes. she’s so sensitive too. stan sees wendy in her too as he realizes she’s growing into an outspoken, brave little girl. she’s really smart, constantly questioning everything and asking the big questions as soon as she starts forming phrases. she scares them a little, tbh. she’s their kid after all.

I love Steph's origin as told in the Secret Origins 80 page giant- I just overall think it strengthens her character by giving her a lot of pathos and adding to her heroism (which isn't something writers were focused on in her actual intro in detective comics #647 since she was just meant to act as a plot device back then) BUT there is one tiny detail in it i will begrudge, and that is the portrayal of her having a minor love at first sight moment for tim

Straight up the progression here goes:

The adventure in 'tec where they first meet -> Tim investigating the same crime scene as Steph -> she beats him up not knowing it's him at first, apologizes but says he shouldn't have scared her -> he remembers her/the moniker she goes by -> they talk about plot for a few pages -> Stephanie starts flirting

Which...is so fascinating to me and says so much about Stephanie. She highlights the fact that Tim "remembered" her. Like. Steph. Girl. This is our bar? It's sweet but kind of speaks to how much Stephanie is ignored at home/how little and sporadically she's shown interacting with her peers (and rarely ever the same kids twice). Her idea of peak romance is just...being on someone's mind even when you're not there.

Kind of also adds layers to Steph's proclivity towards jealousy later on, a manifestation of her insecurity and loneliness (though don't get it twisted, she's not written this way bc Dixon and co think it's an interesting character flaw, they wrote it bc they think it's an inherent character flaw of (particularly young) women/girls, which is very apparent in how he approaches Ariana's character as well from what I've read)

Also the fact that Steph becomes so smitten for Tim almost immediately after this is (a few issues later she aggressively flirts with him during AN ACTIVE HOSTAGE SITUATION. WHERE SHE'S THE HOSTAGE) again is kind of a mixture of kind of funny and sad. One boy is nice to her once and she's fully ready to wife him. Girl you are deranged (affectionate) (concerned)

Power Puff Girls Merch opens up so many avenues tbh. They have brand deals. There’s probably powerpuff girl themed cereal. Townsville can’t really be called Townsville anymore since they’ve popularized it to hell and back. But more importantly: Would Brick collect BOOTLEG Blossom merch.

The girls are probably a tourist attraction 💔 people take selfies in front of their house and the statue that was erected in their honour 💔 but it's okay bc buttercup also charges them for autographs (don't tell the professor. Or blossom. Bubbles is probably chill BUT shed "politely ask" buttercup to buy her ice cream or something every now and then so she doesn't grass her up)

Would brick collect bootleg blossom merch........ yes if its a decent quality (there's probably a lot of bootleg merch that's a higher quality than some official stuff...) since him "collecting" (hoarding) blossom merch isn't bc hes a "fan" of her or the powerpuff "brand", it's for his creepy blossom shrine he has bc hes obsessed with her and he needs something to focus his rage on. He says its a "keep your enemies closer" situation and that's part of it yeah but hes no different than any other 13 year old boy with a celebrity crush. He just knows his celebrity crush personally, and she has handed his ass over to him on a silver platter on several occasions. After which he swears he is never showering again because blossom actually touched him (punched him in the sternum) until mojo forcibly washes him down with a garden hose
