Ava Gardner (The Killers, The Barefoot Contessa)— She's so goddamn hot. Her and Frank Sinatra could've sandwiched me and I would've thanked them for the privilege

Dorothy Dandridge (Carmen Jones, Porgy and Bess, Island in the Sun)— The first Black actress to ever be nominated for best actress, Dorothy Dandridge was a groundbreaking actress who deserved better. She started her career as a singer, being put in a song-and-dance duo with her sister by their stage mother, and singing in soundies (I highly recommend cow cow boogie, it's adorable), proto-music videos. She started appearing as a featured singer in films. Her star was on the rise and she soon became a star solo performer. She continued acting, but had limited options because she refused to do stereotypical roles. She finally landed a starring role in Bright Road in 1953, but it was the movie Carmen Jones that truly cemented her as a star and sex symbol. Not to sound cheesy, but she literally sizzles on screen. You can't help but understand how poor Harry Belafonte gets caught in her trap, just look at her. This is the role that got her that Oscar nom. She didn't win cause I mean #OscarsSoWhite, but she was a sensation and continued starring in films, despite troubles in her life (including a shitty director bf who fucked with her career and a traumatizing pregnancy/delivery). Outside of her filmwork, she was also an activist, fighting against racism. She left behind an amazing legacy, and continues to inspire many actresses to this day (including also very hot first (and only) black woman to win best actress, Halle Berry).

Ava Gardner is one of my favorite actresses of all time. Although a lot of her roles in movies are about her being beautiful and nothing else, there are some films where her acting truly shines.

HER FACE. LOOK AT IT. Also was a life long supporter of civil rights and a member of the NAACP, had lots of fun love affairs with other stars, bullfighters, married several times but was also happy in between to just have lovers and was unapologetically herself.

I literally gasp every time I see her.

Between 1942 and 1964, Ava Gardner was credited in no less 50 films, and is still considered by some to be the most beautiful actresses that ever graced the silver screen. Despite life-long insecurities regarding her talent as an actress, she weathered public scandal, industry hostility, and outright condemnation by the Catholic Church with fearless grace. She would later in life talk candidly about the reality and pain of living through two (studio approved!!) abortions during her short marriage to Frank Sinatra, and while the two of them could not make their relationship work, they remained in each other’s lives for nearly 30 years. She would forever describe herself as a small-town girl who just got lucky, but always felt like a beautiful outsider.

Really genuinely one of the most beautiful human beings I have ever seen. An autodidact. Had amazing chemistry with Gregory Peck to the point where I do think about watching On The Beach again sometimes because they're so good together even though that movie did destroy me. Was a great femme fatale in many movies.

Look at her!!! She is so unbelievably charismatic in Carmen, it’s insane. She was so so talented, when she’s on screen I genuinely dare you to tear your eyes away from her. Deserves to be known so much better but due to Hollywood racism and a tough personal life she didn’t make it as big as she should have done. She’s incredible.

Summary: you and din had been tasked to work together to protect the child, after years of being rivals. (Set in season 1 pre- knowledge that grogu is well called grogu)

You fucking hated din Djarins guts.

Well, maybe that was an exaggeration,but you sure as hell hated him. Ever since you had begun to bounty hunt he had been trying to beat you in almost every aspect. It was a sort of unspoken challenge to see who would get the first part of beskar armour- which he had won, then who would be higher ranked, which he had also won, then it was who would get a better shop, he had won yet again. This repeated over and over until your paths inevitably crossed. Some higher ups had believed you two LIKED eachother - which to you two seemed utterly insane.

Cut to you two standing in front of Din’s ship, awkward silence handling heavy in the air, with only the occasional clunk of armour or heavy breathing. You were the first to speak, muttering a quiet “this is fucking stupid, you’re fucking stupid.” Din wasn’t supposed to hear you say it, but he did.

You could only assume he rolled his eyes before he sharply turned to you to whisper-yell “I’m about as happy as you are about this whole… arrangement” he made sharp gestures with his hands and his words where punctuated sharply “so cut the shit and let’s just get this over and done with.okay?”

You simply scoffed and entered the ship.

Neither of you had planned for this ‘short mission’ to drag on for nearly a year yet it did, and now here you were, tension even thicker than when you started- if possible- with a small green alien in the ship.

Over the year you had thought lingb and hard about the real reason you began hating din, and too be honest you couldn’t quite remeber the reason why you had started to be angry at him to begin with.

Occasionally you would pear around the bunk room to see him cleaning his armour, hunched over on the small bunk, under armour tight against his sculpted body, with the occasional peak of tan skin from under his gloves. You would find yourself standing there for hours, only being torn away when the child would tug on your leg, indicating he wanted to be fussed over.

Or how you would sit slightly behind sun when he would be piloting, eyes concentrated on his hands, watching the skilled way he would flick between controls and expertly fly the large ship gracefully through the universe. No stars nor glaxy could capture your attention like he could. You would brush it off as resentment or ‘judging his work’ often giving him snide remarks to throw him off, but your voice was often laced with an undertone of- compassion.

Or just in every day life when your gaze would linger on him for just longer than it should, before you would return to your task.

You where resting after a tough mission, tending to your wounds whilst playing with the child, who was sat on the table looking at you with his big eyes full of concern, when din entered.

His stance was different today, and you had become good at reading how he held himself, seeing as you had no context clues from his face, his body language spoke volumes. However , today, he seemed- well you couldn’t quite tell. That concerned you- din was a simple man to you, he never held himself in any other way than tense or angry around you. Or at least your perspective of it.

You had obviously been silently staring at him too long trying to figure out what his body language was, when he coughed loudly.

“What do you want space boy” you groaned out, space boy had been your nickname for him, much to his annoyance. However today your tone didn’t hold malice nor anger, it wavered slightly and sounded more cautious. Din sensed this and slowly sat, not next to you by the table, but by the bunk room a few metres from you. He sat slumped against the wall, hands hanging by his sides. He sighed loudly before speaking ina. Hushed and croaky tone- one associated with crying usually.

“Look, m/n, what’s the problem between us… tell me, because I don’t think I can go one more day on this damned ship with you, the tension between us is fuxkjngn killinn me” his tone slightly turned more frustrated and he let his head fall back to rest against the wall.

You took a long pause before whispering “I don’t know.” You tried to finish your thought, to explain why you hated him so, but your words caught in your thought and brain fuzzed over, so he started talking again.

“I notice you, I feel you look at me, m/n” his tone adopted a more subtle calm one, and he inches closer on the bench, being slightly closer to you.

You raise your gaze from the floor to look into his dark visor, squinting your eyes in a desperate attempt to see his eyes- to gauge what he means by this.

He continues again, mindlessly rambling at this point. “M/n, I-…” he trailed off, but stood up and turned the lights off. Your breath hitched and body tensed.you hear The sound of his helmet hissing as it was removed from his armour, and then set down on the table. He tapped the side of your helmet to motion for you to do the same, and you complied.

In the few seconds that followed something seemed to click in your brain, you figured maybe the same things had clicked for him earlier.

You stood from your chair, and it clattered behind you and scraped against the floor. You took one step towards din and he pulled you closer by a hand on your lower back. He didn’t kiss you at first, instead taking his time to trace every feature of your face with his fingers, trying to memorise it. He didn’t say a word and neither did you.

After a while you lifted your own hands to cup his face, a soft gasp falling from your lips as you felt the warm scruff of his beard, then the soft skin of his cheeks, and his beautiful hooked nose. You took your time to imagine his soft brown eyes and paint your own image of his face in your Brain, carving it there so you could never forget it. After a while you felt his hot breath against your cheeks, and he whispered “I want to kiss you,may I?” You slowly nodded your head and he pressed his lips to yours.

As your lips connected you felt the years of tension slip away, instead replaced with a warm glow inside you. You kissed back, lips pressing against his. You knew it wouldn’t go any further today, and so did he. You just stood in the dark room of his ship, holding eachother quietly. There was no conversation of the hatred held by one another over the years, nor one of what was to come after this.

All that you knew right now was you had him and he had you.

"I'm sorry Finn." He stood up and walked away, I went to stand but I couldn't. I froze, I swear I wanted to go after him, but I froze.

Robin grabbed the other's hand and wrapped his arm around the blonde's waist, "May I offer you a dance?"

"Robin," he thought for a moment. "sure, I don't see why not." He smiled a bit before Robin started to spin them around on the hard concrete floor. A perfect little area in the park.

"Robin, I don't know how to dance." Finney said worriedly. "Follow my feet Finn, I promise I won't let you drop or fall." Finn's face started to glow a light pink, not like the other could see. They were in the dark, the only thing keeping the area lit; were the strung up yellow stars.

"God Finn, what is that smell? It's amazing, it's perfect for you." Robin reached their connecting hands up and spun the blonde around once before dipping him. Finney quickly wrapped his arm around the other's neck and shut his eyes tightly.

"I told you I wouldn't let you drop mi vida."

Finn opened his eyes and stared at the beauty in front of him, the stars flower perfectly around him, then the color changed into a red. A beautiful clash with the dark blue of the night sky.

"Finn.." His eyes softened, his smile faded and he looked more serious than Finn had ever seen. "I love you."

Hughes' trust in Gardner was what kept their relationship alive. She described him as "painfully shy, completely enigmatic, and more eccentric...than anyone [she] had ever met".

Gardner lived her last 35 years outside of the United States. She first visited Spain during the filming of Pandora and the Flying Dutchman in 1950, and moved to that country in 1955, living there until 1968, when she moved to London. While in Spain, she began a friendship with writer Ernest Hemingway. She had starred in an adaptation of his The Sun Also Rises that year. Five years earlier, Hemingway had successfully urged producer Darryl F. Zanuck to cast Gardner in The Snows of Kilimanjaro, a film which adapted several of his short stories. While staying with Hemingway at his villa in San Francisco de Paula in Havana, Gardner once swam alone without a swimsuit in his pool. After watching her, Hemingway ordered his staff: "The water is not to be emptied".

Her time spent in Spain in the 1950s made her a fan of bullfighting and bullfighters, such as Luis Miguel Dominguín, who became her lover. She began dating Dominguín in 1954, around the time she filed for divorce from Sinatra. "It was a sort of madness, honey", she later said of the time. She was also linked to another bullfighter, Mario Cabre, in 1950.

Gardner was also involved in a relationship with her live-in boyfriend and companion, American actor Benjamin Tatar, who worked in Spain as a foreign-language dubbing director. Tatar later wrote an autobiography in which he discussed his relationship with Gardner, though the book was never published.

Gardner had a close friendship with Gregory Peck, with whom she starred together in three films, the first one being The Great Sinner (1949). Their friendship lasted the rest of Gardner's life, and upon her death in 1990, Peck took in both her housekeeper and her dog.

There's bits of worldbuilding in here for the fic, but genuinely I just wrote this because I miss playing the soup game and realize Moon absolutely would torment you and Sun both with random soup "facts".

"Did you know that the ocean is technically soup?"

You roll your eyes, resisting the urge to groan. "Moon, please tell me you're not on reddit again."

"You're the one with an account." Its voice is coming from behind and above, and you know if you turn around, Moon will be lounging across the arcade machines while you sweep up random bits of popcorn and other debris. "I am merely enjoying the breadth of knowledge humanity has to offer. Cereal is also soup."

"There's the breadth of human knowledge... and then there's reddit." You grab the dustpan, noticing Moon isn't scrolling; it's watching you. "What?"

"What?" Its faceplate twists til it is nearly upside down.

You feel for something to throw at Moon, finding your to do list and crumpling it in your hand. Your aim isn't the worst, and you manage to smack the edge of its smile. "Ha, got you!"

"Ah! I've been wounded!" Moon's face untwists as it dramatically drapes itself over the machines, your phone safely clutched in one hand. "You've killed me Star. My and Sun's deaths are at your hands."

"I gave you my phone to listen to music, not be given dubious soup facts. If you're going to be a nuisance, at least help me clean." You poke at Moon with the handle of your broom, nudging its arm.

"I can't help. I'm busy being dead." Moon's wheezy laugh is soft and short as you giggle.

"So I'm talking to a corpse?"

"Yes." Moon's eyes were dimmed, but one brightens as it peeks at you. "Clearly. For shame Starlight."

"All right." You lean up to pat its shoulder, then stretch to reach its hand. "Then I'm picking the music."

"Ah!" Moon's suddenly up and in the air, its cable snapping taut with the sudden weight. "No, we are choosing the music tonight"

"We? You're going to put on Frank Sinatra again no matter what Sun and I want to listen to." You have to find where your to do list landed, uncrumpling it against your cart. A tick goes next to sweep the main arcade, and the sheet is tucked next to your coffee while you move on.

"We have listened to other things."

"Sinatra covers don't count."

"Beatles covers do?"

"I'll throw my coffee at you."

"Naughty. You'll make a mess." Moon follows close behind, floating overhead by the cable while playing on your phone. As expected, Sinatra's soothing voice plays, a little tinny from the terrible quality of your phone's speakers. Moon is humming along, and you can't help but join in for a bar or two. You start cleaning again in the party rooms, taking advantage of the peace from Moon to work. If you're quick, you'll be able to study before it insists on a nap.

"They do not make pools sound particularly pleasant."

"Huh?"

"'Pools are human soup.' That sounds unappetizing."

You've found an abandoned gift bag, flipping it over in your hand to check out the trinkets inside. There's a temporary tattoo of Roxy -- her official design, not the one that resides in this plex. "That does sound gross. I don't swim much anyway. Too many public pool stories about pee to want to try."

"Lost and Found." Moon's hand snatches the gift bag from your hands.

"Hey! It's just a generic bag. No one's coming back for it." You try to take it back, but Moon holds it just out of reach. Annoying, tall, stickbug of a bot. It just has to stand straight to best you. "Moon."

"Me."

You give up on trying to get the bag, dropping back on your heels with a huff. "You're being extra annoying right now." Its eyes narrow as its faceplate rocks back and forth. "Is something eating you?"

"Wouldn't be very tasty."

"Moon."

"Still me."

"Did something happen?" Silence, though its eyes and smile remain thin. "Did something happen to Sun?" Its eyes widen briefly. "Ah." You grimace. "The assistants again. They did seem off earlier during clean up."

"She didn't want to worry you." Moon's tone is apologetic, its smile all but gone.

You nod. It's not like you have been exactly subtle in your dislike of the daycare assistants and their treatment of Sun and Moon, especially Sun. You sigh, letting all the negative feelings that suddenly cropped up out with it. In three, two, one, you'll be okay and not wanting to call the assistants assholes. They are assholes. But neither Sun nor Moon particularly cared to hear it.

"How about you help me gather up the trash to take out and we can spend the rest of my shift watching movies together?"

"Don't you have to study? And rest." Moon's ability to remember the details of your schedule would be offputting if it wasn't a robot.

You wave away the concern. "I've studied plenty before." Lie. "I should be fine." Lie. "And I always fall asleep during our movie binges. Come on, help me out Moony. For Sun?"

Moon's face tick tick ticks ever so slowly around, unspinning right before it's made a full three sixty degree turn. "For Sun," it finally agrees, and you grin.

"Excellent. I'll grab the trash and replace the bags if you can run it to the dumpster."

"Ah, the worst job. Thank you." You ignore Moon, rushing through the end of your task list so you can put your cart away. It's as you're draining the last of your coffee that Moon speaks up again.

"Coffee is bean soup."

It's close enough that you hit its faceplate dead center with the now empty styrofoam cup even as it laughs in sheer delight from the look on your face.
