fortysomething years ago, a man named godwin enfield decided, in a show of breathtaking ego, to adopt a bunch of children and train them to be ruthless killers. it did not work out well; while enfield's physical training was exceptional, he did not care for the emotional and developmental needs of his adoptive children, and they turned out... not so well. this was in part the cause of a few deaths, and more than a few catastrophic fights. only three enfields remain in contact today: andromeda, beatrice, and dimitri, the last of which took it upon himself to continue his father's legacy with a new batch of children. although he's certainly trying to be better than his father was, dimitri's kids haven't exactly grown up to be very stable themselves. at least he didn't insist they all take his last name.

muses

dimitri enfield, 45, he/him, hugh dancy the only remaining enfield sibling interested in continuing his father's legacy. a significant leg injury when he was 25 rendered him basically useless in fights; he's still a crack shot, though. a decent father figure, but not responsible enough to handle the messes he creates.

andromeda vidal enfield, 37, she/her, caroline dhavernas / rebecca ferguson possibly the most well-adjusted enfield sibling. after she left her father's estate, she joined the service; now she's off active duty and remains a handler at quantico. married, then divorced, a man she worked with. she doesn't approve of dimitri's project, but still harbours a lot of affection for him, and enjoys spending time with his kids.

beatrice enfield, 43, she/her, morena baccarin unstable kinda evil wine aunt. nobody really knows what it is she does and she's quick to shut down any attempts to find out. she probably likes dimitri and his kids, but she also thinks throwing unexpected knives to test their reflexes is fun, so it's anyone's guess.

rohan ojha, 30, he/him, dev patel one of dimitri's first children. he sees himself as the older brother who should look after his siblings, but is beginning to realise the limits of his father's ability, and by extension his own. the model grumpy protective assassin old man enfield would have loved. does not get on well with his brother ash.

ash dizon, 31, he/him, manny jacinto one of dimitri's first children. tough to train as a kid; the trouble he caused nearly led dimitri to shut the programme down before it got off the ground. quit to be a boxer. has a soft spot for the younger ones, and loves to push rohan's buttons.

isa yousry, 32, she/her, may calamawy successful graduate of dimitri's programme. something of a passionate bleeding heart but very aggressive about her cause too. lawyer by day, vigilante by night. she is clearly their father's favourite, and her brothers do not begrudge her this role.

kyrie pierce, 26, she/her & emerson pierce, 26, she/he/they, maika monroe twins who absolutely do not get along. emerson is older, callous and dismissive. he ran away to join a criminal gang at 18, returning after 3 years. kyrie is charismatic and calculative, and often acts as her siblings' lure; she always cries while cleaning up the blood.

mitzi morino, 21, she/her, devyn nekoda their guy in the chair. she knows the ins and outs of any place with a working digital system, and enjoys delivering a running commentary in her siblings' ears as she watches them go about their job through the cameras. not even one of dimitri's kids; she figured their situation out and hunted the enfields down when she was 13.

river mccourt, 27, he/him, barry keoghan / paul mescal the other guy in the chair. he likes analysing fight styles and coming up with strategies, not that anyone ever takes his advice. wanted to be out in the field too, but he gets too stuck in his own head to be a good fighter.

sadie almira, 22, they/she, lizeth selene deeply awkward with expressing genuine emotions, but mean comments come easy to them. a great actor, though; they're always the one sent in for infiltration and reconnaissance. an amazing baker.

yeah so this is my umbrella academy take. second generation for more trauma babey! i didn't wanna mess with superpowers this time so i worked with assassins; equally lethal, less supernatural, less ethically inclined. was this incredibly ambitious? yes! was it also fun to do? absolutely.

i made this verse in a way that leaves space for a lot of other characters of either generation, and i would LOVE to have affiliates with it! (mutuals only please)

i'm playing fast and loose with ages here. the older kids probably see dimitri less as a dad and more of an older brother; he did legally have custody of them at some point (except mitzi) so he's technically dad to everyone

isa is clearly the favourite but rohan and ash have some sort of a complex going on between them when it comes to dimitri. he sees rohan as compensation for his own failings to his father, while all ash can see are dimitri's failures as a parent. yes rohan does fight big and heavy and ash fights fast and wiry. why do you ask?

andromeda is recycled from an existing muse that wasn't really going anywhere

the first gen muses are probably more secondary but i wanted to have a glimpse into that world too, like, what would it be like to be incredibly talented but also deeply damaged from being parented purely to develop that talent? and how would one function as an adult?

while i was casting this i realised how i don't really like fcs that are only from sitcom-type shows / pure drama series because they don't have a range of motion and the framing is boring... lizeth selene is on thin ice for this but i really like their look

Sneak peak at this Dimitri piece I've been working on

So... we know Dimitri is a big part of the story. So much so that the devs will share little to no information about him (obviously not to spoil anything). We will see him in flashbacks and supposedly parts of the main game- maybe even the sequel. He is also confirmed to be an antagonist in the game. Thus- there are two possible roles (that could coexist) that this pyromaniac chimera may play.

He could be a. A recurring antagonist in every chapter either in flashback and/or the main plotline, or/and b. the final antagonist that connects the whole story together for it's grand conclusion. While every major antagonist has a rather stand-alone chapter that contribute to the overall story of Billie, we do not have enough to go on Dimitri to know whether or not he will be the one to wrap up Billie's storyline- but let's argue this further with what we do know:

Both Billie and Dimitri want to be heroes. Both almost chase acceptance by trying to be a hero. And they've ended up hurting people in the process.

Billie as we know is a bit of an outcast in her village because she has uncontrollable powers, a love/need for adventure, and because she doesn't exactly adhere to the rules and roles of the village. Reading about her dad and Aristotle inspires her to want to be a hero, but her journey will supposedly lead her to some hard truths about heroism. They've accidently hurt people and unintentionally caused issues that have hurt others and may continue to do so to fight what she believes or is told are forces of bad. Many who probably have had tragic circumstances that lead them to where they are.

Dimitri, from what little we know of him, intentionally causes harm to people so he can be the hero. This behavior grants him the positive attention a hero would get that having someone else be the hero makes it almost competitive (if I am not over reading his introduction too much).

Already we can see how Billie and Dimitri's ideologies are somewhat overlapping, yet very much clash with one another. Billie wants to follow in her dad's footsteps and learn how to be more of the person she wants to be while Dimitri is quite literally living a lie. If he is meant to be a final antithesis to Billie- we could assume that perhaps he was outcasted or berated much like Billie for not fitting in.

That would not be too far off given that he is one of the few chimera characters we have seen along with the tail that speaks his unfiltered thoughts (which he can't control!), but we've also seen many hints at chimera-like god creatures in Billie Bust Up such as one Elaine sort of prays to:

Which means Dimitri could a. be some sort of magical creature or demigod or higher and/or b. have the expectation to be some kind of heroic god or god-like creature because he looks like one. Or/and perhaps c. being a chimera and seeing how many other chimeras are praised, the power/idea of that got to his head and he now has to constantly keep up that reputation for his own ego.

No matter how you view it- whether Dimitri pretends a hero because he's afraid of being outcasted and alone, trying to live up to the expectations of people like him that are literally seen as gods, or is just fueled by his own ego- or all of the above and maybe plus some- you could relate that to or contrast it to Billie.

Billie is an outcast to her people, she has a great amount of power she has no control over, and wants to- almost feels the need to walk in her father's footsteps to get a proper grasp on her powers or prove that she's able to be one. Billie wants to have control over her life and herself, to prove her self-worth. Katie often compares her to Hercules from Disney's Hercules who doesn't want to be a burden with his strength.

We may see Dimitri's story interwoven with Billie's not just in flashbacks, but perhaps other characters as well. It's a little unclear if Dimitri and Billie will meet face to face- it's likely they will since he's integral to the plot and the possible antithesis to Billie. But we may see more of or learn more about Dimitri through other characters as well. There is still some speculation (on my end mostly) on there being a possible link between Fantoccio and Dimitri given that they are vaguely similar in color pallets and personality. And given that Fantoccio is the main antagonist before the fifth and final chapter, if Dimitri turns out to be the final boss- that may cause the need for some needed tension or controversy over how Billie takes on her possible antithesis (however that does play out-if it plays out).

Dimitri could perhaps be connected to other characters as well- perhaps being the reason why some characters have gems (except for maybe Barnaby- but that doesn't mean Barnaby hadn't tried to kill him or something at one point).

It's still very hard to tell what exactly Dimitri's role is in the main storyline of the game and only vaguely understood in flashbacks with Aristotle and Arthur. When the game comes out, it may be revealed that none of what I just speculated was true and Dimitri's just a victim of the zombie infestation or partying in Barnaby's mansion. Or perhaps was imprisoned at Claw Bay at some point or Dutch somehow managed to wrangle him to be at the hotel. Or maybe none or all of the above- who can tell?

All we truly know is Dimitri does have a big role to play. And we'll just have to wait until the game to truly find out.

riley ruegesegger — an artificial human created by the lovely scientists over at orphic labs. also happens to be a recent escapee of the aforementioned facility alongside their older siblings. was at one point able to control people with just their voice but they have since slit their own throat in an act of defiance and damaged their vocal chords badly enough that they can no longer speak louder than a whisper. communicates via ASL or handwritten messages. complete and total doormat despite their best efforts.. struggling to make the most of their newfound autonomy.

casey ballinger — just a guy, but like, a really nice and cool one. works at a diner called spike's with his little (twin) sister, venus. has never once been jealous of vivi's power (even though he's like, way better suited for it) because all of the responsibility that comes with it seems annoying. perfectly happy making pancakes for truckers and the elderly. desperately in love with a science experiment who's name he never had the chance to learn (tzipporah. it's tzipporah.).

byleth eisner — from fire emblem: three houses, in a modern au so implicitly pretty canon divergent. anyway! they're a college professor acting as the vessel for a forgotten goddess who is so incredibly forgotten she no longer remembers her own name. would probably be having prophetic visions if either of them knew what was going on. semi-emotionless husk. generally strange and overly aware of it. minimal control over the flow of time.

dimitri alexandre blaiddyd — also from fire emblem: three houses, also modern au'd and implicitly canon divergent. graduate student. youngest son of a very well-known, old-money type family. kind, polite, and lighthearted young man, generally. suffers from psychosis largely brought on by severe survivor's guilt and post-traumatic stress. best friends with byleth and one-sidedly in love with her.

Love as Religion

Devotion, that is the name of your love. Your love is an act of worship. Your love is like witnessing the birth of Venus, like seeing the sun come alive, or the stars fall. When you love, it is because you have found God in a lover. You have found the meaning of life itself in the heart of the one you adore. They are everything to you; they are your Maker, and you are their lamb, their flock, their first and holiest worshipper. When you fall in love, it is as a baptism. You are born anew, made a believer in the divinity of the one you love most. Being loved by you is an ascension; it is holy and golden. It is all-consuming, and all-faithful, loyal as the dog. You will never, ever bite back.

This is pretty accurate, in a roundabout way! I expected to get a result such as this. There is a reason I keep putting some kind of religious motif into my dimicyrus art. To Cyrus, to love Dimitri is his life's meaning. He says he doesn't need to be loved back, but he is lying to himself. He expects and craves to be worshipped back in the same way by him. This way of love is not the most healthy, but it is unfortunately all Cyrus knows.
