I understand that literature nerd Jason Todd is kind of overblown in fanon compared to it's actual presence in canon (a few issues during his pre (and post?)crisis Robin tenure that highlight it) BUT consider that I think it's hilarious if the unhinged gun toting criminal has strong opinions on poetry

personally i think they can do 70s/80s devil's minion while keeping it so that modern dm still needs a ton of development to Work, because they both have to navigate their feelings now even if daniel gets his memories back. there's the layers of betrayal and resentment they both feel; the fact that they've been apart for decades and have gone through life since then being shaped separately; the circumstances of daniel's turning— theyre all things they still have to work through, with or without an extended history between them.

for daniel, just because he might remember what he felt back then, it doesn't mean he automatically feels the same because of it now. maybe it could even be that he doesn't remember everything all at once; only the cat and mouse game at the beginning of their relationship, or the hopelessness and ruin at the end of it, or the addiction, and for a long time that's all he can remember. maybe he remembers it all but he can't connect what he felt then to what he feels now. it doesn't have to be a switch that flips and suddenly brings back all his old feelings and erases everything else.

for armand, there's an aspect to it that he has to come to love this more experienced version of the boy he once knew, one who is extremely sharp and much better at seeing right through him, one who is not dependant on him or his blood, one who has utterly dismantled everything he was clinging onto for decades, and, now armand's turned daniel, one he can't read the mind of like he used to. even if some things have stayed the same, their entire dynamic has shifted from what was once familiar.

so, even though past dm could be an easy way to go "they were in love once so of course they'll fall in love again", i don't think that's what would happen. in my opinion them having a history would add to their present dynamic but things are so different now it's pretty much brand new territory for them going forward.

Around 2012 when Homestuck was at its peak, I got the idea of making a gimmick Tumblr blog called "CG Reads Homestuck." The premise would have been a liveblog of Homestuck, not by Karkat Vantas, but by an Earth human whose personality is identical in every way to that of Karkat Vantas, typing and reacting as Karkat would. Naturally, his least-favorite character would have been Karkat, because Karkat hating alternate versions of himself is one of his defining traits.

I wrote a list of rules for making things over-the-top in a manner characteristic of Karkat, and the test-posts I had in my notes still failed to be as over-the-top as Karkat. There was a bit in my notes where I referenced a "mobius double-reacharound", followed by "Am I allowed to use phrases like that before they appear in Homestuck, or does it completely louse up the 'first-time liveblogger' metaphor?", a turn of phrase which was plagiarized from Maus by Art Spiegelman. I could already see that I'd lose interest pretty quickly, and imagined answering an ask about my lessened output by mentioning that the novelty had worn off, leaving only "a fake liveblog."

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that if I actually tried to make something like that now, @ephemeralhorror would summon eldritch powers to make grass touch me.

I often wonder how English distinguishing between “sentient pronouns” (he/she/they) and “inanimate pronouns” (it/its) affects our perception of the world.

I wonder if languages without this distinction foster more care towards the environment.

Animals and plants are usually referred to as “it”. Would we care for them more if we thought of them as sentient?

The great thing about Cecil is I can keep his design almost completely the same since he was already so far removed from the character he’s based on-

I think his hair and nose are a little different but those are both just tiny tweaks that make it a tiny bit easier for me to draw him, just shapes that are more natural for me yk? The only real additions are the swirl in his bangs and the vampire eyes, which now that I’ve drawn on Cecil as well I’m absolutely sure I’m a fan of!! They only make him look even more like he’s about to run directly into traffic like a startled fawn and that’s what I’m going for!!

Unfortunately I think his raincoat might get a little sidelined as a design choice for him in place of a trench coat and hat (you know, because the sun?)- I just find that idea more aesthetically pleasing and better for potential outfit contrast

Oh and just to be clear, the palette I have here is just random/ picked from older drawings, the one I used for Uriel was off Pinterest, I just have the palette here also so their references match swiyghwwbfw

Never getting over this scene. the chapters right before this of gojo thinking quickly while dozens of people get killed but not hesitating in making risks. all this cool guy behavior only to be completely frozen by the corpse of his best friend saying his name. right when there’s a flashback of jogo saying not even a thousand lives could distract him, but kenjaku knowing without a doubt geto’s could.

Then gojo immediately experiencing for the first time what he just put others through by activating his domain. Reliving years of his past actions and experiences with geto (who marked his “youth”) in just a moment.

Meanwhile, Kenjaku is taunting Gojo for not getting rid of Geto’s body or forgetting Geto when we know Kenjaku fully centered their plan around Gojo being affected by Geto. And with Kenjaku knowing Geto’s memories, Gojo’s last words to him, and the throw away line that Gojo couldn’t destroy the body after JJK 0 despite acting positive afterwards with his students... It’s so heartbreaking, but incredibly written

Anyway since they're apparently not going to go with the "Steph leading/babysitting a team of young heroes" book idea (pause for despair) I'd like to pitch MY idea for Steph: Steph gets back into playing piano (she already started doing so in Batgirls #18!) and ends up taking on a mystery related to the basement rock scene in Gotham (I know the underground concert game there is INSANE absolutely prime serial killer territory)

i found a letter in my desk that i recognised as being written in my handwriting, read the first sentence & realised it was addressed to me, FROM me, and for a moment existed within a twilight zone episode where my future self tries to save me from some great unavoidable tragedy by leaving me letters.

turns out it's actually a letter my dad wrote to me when I was a kid, and our handwriting is deceptively similar.
