Welcome to... The Hayrose Cinematic Universe!

An alternate universe of Hogwarts MC's that all started with one simple ship between two delusional nerds (AKA me and @acslytherpuff <3) and spiraled out into a whole separate universe! I'll show you around! I'll show you around! Buckle up because we got a lot to go over!

Meet the crew!

These two lovely souls are Alvin Hayoung and Matty Ambrose--hence the ship name "Hayrose". You guys have probably heard and seen a lot of them if you've been following my blog these past couple of months. These two are the kickoff to the HCU! It all started with one look when Alvin was immediately smitten and well the rest is history.

This is Cassie Luna, Alvin's best friend and loved by many. She's practically the whole reason why Matty and Alvin are together. Both reluctant to confess, Cassie gave them just a little (very big lol) push in the right direction (as in she threatened to feed alvin to the dementors, dont ask) and they were together by the next week.

Speaking of Cassie, let's get onto her boyfriend, Alex. Now, if it isn't already obvious, Alex is Alvin's older brother. Guess the four of them are completely stuck together forever. Alex is your typical bad boy but he's got some soft spots, especially for Cassie. He's a year older than Alvin but returned during Alvin's 7th year to finish his own last year at school and of course, met Cassie and immediately knew she was the one for him. Now that we've introduced those four, let's get into the groups! (I swear we were all on something while coming up with these names, I'll leave it at that LOL)

"The girlies", "The Rizzies", and "The Baddies," Pretty gen-z for some Victorian teens, right? The Girlies

This is Amberlyn Salters, but we all just call her Alyn. She's a part of "The Girlies" and ironically, so is her boyfriend, Ominis. That's because he knows all the gossip so we let him tag along. And while she can be rather quiet, she's usually analyzing something in her mind, trying to answer questions, or breaking them down. A true Ravenclaw if you ask me. (Alyn is by @ps-cactus)

This is Vittoria "Tori" Lewis, probably one of the coolest girls ever. Lover of all things caffeinated, she's a joy to be around. Her girlfriend, Poppy, is also an honorary member of "The Girlies". Tori brings the much needed chaos, when she has enough caffeine in her system, of course. She's loyal and a hard worker, staying true to the Hufflepuff house reputation. This is Valentine "Val" Black and she's one of our spitfires. While simultaneously being able to deal with her family, she also somehow manages to keep up with her boyfriend, Cal, and their 24/7 third-wheel Ale, who we'll introduce later. They are the CalValAle trio and she's got those boys on an impressively tight leash. And while she's quite the loving girl, don't try to take advantage of her. She is in no way a pushover and she'll let you know that. (Val by @savingsallow)

This is Johanna "Jo" Newman. She's both intelligent and the first one to dive into danger if needed--which gives her boyfriend, Silas, a heart attack every time. Thank goodness his hair is already greyed so he can't get any more greys with her. But Jo is extremely loyal and if you ever need random facts, Jo is definitely the person to go to. Her mind is an endless pit of random knowledge. (Jo by @ravenwind-75)

This is Damien Evans and yes he is a part of the girlies but thank goodness his boyfriend Sebastian is not (last time he tried to infiltrate, it did not go well). Besides having the most amazing hair on the planet, Damien is involved in all of the girlies activities, including the sleepovers. He's the hair braiding champ 💪. His creativity is unmatched and he's quite compassionate as well! (Damien by @theladyofshalott1989)

This is Ellie Crawford and she's actually a part of both the girlies and the baddies, Ellie is the protector of the group and can scare anybody out of a fight before it even starts. She also protects the girlies secrets from her other group, the baddies, when they ask what's going on at the sleepovers. The tea is hot y'all. Ellie is confident, full of hilarious sarcasm, and is quite the morally grey character you can't help but love. (Ellie is by @accio-bagel)

Onto the Rizzies

The Rizzies consist of three hufflepuff's who, or at one point, have absolutely no rizz but yet give each other silly and ridiculous dating advice but somehow it worked? This trio consists of Alvin and two others I will now introduce.

This is Theodore Lupin--Or Theo for short. And yes, it's that Lupin you're thinking about. And it's really ironic that he's even in this group because he's quite literally too afraid to talk to most women anyway, unlike his best friend Cal. Half of the time, it's just Alvin and James trying to get him out on a date... he'll get there. (update: he finally got a girl!)

This is Jaimsen "James" Hisui. He made it into the Rizzies by being flirtatious and having really bad pickup lines that he's really creative about, actually. But I guess it worked since he pulled his boyfriend, Ren. His outgoing personality definitely played a part in that too! He's also amazingly creative (and very hyper lol) but oh so friendly! Onto the Baddies!

So, we already know Alex and Ellie, so let's get on to Ale, Cal, and Freddie.

Callan "Cal" Gaunt and Alejandro "Ale" Salvatori are quite the interesting duo who happened to like the same girl for a while--hence the love triangle situationship thing that nobody can ever keep up with. While Ale third wheels Cal and Val most of the time, he's still very loved by the both of them. Both of these are rather flirty and witty but under the surface of that, Cal is quite the passionate and soft guy and Ale immerses himself in things such as poetry. Both are very loyal to the people they love. (Ale also belongs to @savingsallow)

Fredrick "Freddie" Harpis is the last one in the Baddies group. He doesn't even know how he got here, his girlfriend, Ellie, just pulls him around to things most of the time. Also with a little influence from his sister figure, Matty, from time to time. He's a little rough around the edges but deep down he's a total softie he just won't admit it :) (Freddie by @freddiestheproblemchild)

We're done with the groups--but did you really think we were finished there? Think again.

The Evanders

These are the Evander brothers, Killian and Silas. While Silas is a normal Slytherin student, enjoying the company of his girlfriend, Jo, and his friend group, his older brother Killian is always finding ways to meddle in things. Nobody knows why he's so dedicated to annoying the group, or getting involved in the messes, we can just assume it's a pastime of his for whatever reason lol.

So just know, wherever the HCU crew is going, Killian is probably soon to follow.

This is Phillip! He's Professor Fig's adopted son and a good friend of Matty's whom he met in Charms class and he is a fellow member of the Gryffindor house. (By @endeavour12345)

This is Danny, he's also a good friend Matty's but he's also good friends with Silas! He and his girlfriend, Adelaide, can often be found together around the herbology greenhouses or up in the Ravenclaw hall, studying with Silas. (By @catohphm)

These two are Jamie Ambrose and Amara Ambrose. Jamie is Matty's "Brother" (they're basically twins with how alike they are) and Amara is their chaos cousin. This family tree is complicated! (Jamie by @rypnami and Amara by @boxdstars)

This is Helena Elwyn-er, well Professor Elwyn. She showed up a year ago and gave the whole school something to talk about when she began her relationship with our other Professor, Professor Sharp. Apparently they had known each other for years and well, now they're the two professors everybody knows are dating even if they haven't outright said it. She's like an extra mom to a lot of the school and to be honest, she probably knows more students than anybody else. And will always be the first to help them get out of detention :)

So, how did all of this happen?

Backstory

The origins of the HCU have changed quite a bit but to accommodate for so many MC's, we've come up with quite the silly answer that involves Sebastian being an idiot and accidentally resulting in the start of the HCU.

Alvin, Alex, Cassie, Alyn, Cal, Theo, Val, and Ale, all existed in the same universe and knew each other (except for Alex until 7th year), all attending school at the same time. In this universe (the HCU), all the crazy 5th year stuff doesn't take place. It's a relatively all around peaceful universe. Of course, you still have people like the Gaunts and Killian always meddling around but that's better than the crazy fifth year stuff, right?

Meanwhile, Matty, Ellie, Jo, Tori, Freddie, Damien, and James were all off in their own separate universes, dealing with the absolute hell that was their fifth year LOL. However, when they were down in the catacomb with Sebastian, dealing with the relic, something went wrong and each of them were sucked out of their own universe and sent to the HCU all at the same time while their version of Sebastian was left very confused.

Naturally, they were very confused as to why this universe was so different. Why wasn't the fifth year here like the one they had experienced? Of course, they all immediately went to the school looking for answers. Let's just say every single professor were very confused as to the random influx of students and Professor Fig was left wondering why so many of them seemingly knew him so well (although he welcomed the love with open arms, alongside his wife, Miriam, of course.) And while it took forever, eventually it was worked out but they decided to stay, enjoying the peacefulness that came along with this universe.

By the time 7th year rolled around (which is when the HCU is set), things had been worked out and everything has been accommodated and figured out and all of them are now living very happy lives within the HCU :)

(don't ask about what happened to their prior universes, we don't know. that was too much work to go through.🤣)

Disclaimer: This entire universe is a completely separate one from that of each MC's original lore (save for a few). This idea is simply just a bunch of friends having fun and nothing complicated is meant by it lol.

I think Misa was suicidal since her parents’ death if not longer. I wonder if she regretted not letting her stalker kill her in the brief moment before Gelus’ Death Note fell from the sky and gave her a reason to keep living. I wonder if she killed herself over Light, not because he meant so much to her, but because he had been the only reason she hadn’t done it years ago. I think she needed an obsessive, unattainable goal to justify staying alive. Seeing her parents avenged. Meeting Kira. Marrying Light. I wonder if Light hadn’t died, would she have been able to find another reason to go on living? Or would she have felt she had nowhere to go from there, that no goal was big enough anymore? Misa had hundreds of years to live, a gift from the sacrifices of two gods of death, but I think the only thing keeping her alive for so long was her desperate escalating search for a reason not to end it herself

oh absolutely!!! absolutely!!!!! suicidal misa amane is one of my most solid death note opinions and it genuinely surprised me when i first came on here and didn't see anyone talking about it. i mean it's basically canon isn't it. "kill me now while i'm still young and pretty," "i was supposed to die that day anyway," everything she does just to find light, all the risks she takes in yotsuba including getting in a car with the person she knows is a creep AND a serial killer, "i would gladly die for you"… it speaks so much to me, that desperation to find something worthwhile to die for, which happens to also be something worthwhile to live for. i think suicidality and longing to live are two sides of the same knife and misa is trying so fucking hard to balance on its edge.

it's actually kind of worse! in the manga at least (haven't seen the anime) all she does is stumble back, she doesn't run — probably a stress freeze response — and gelus kills the stalker but his notebook falls in the shinigami realm, so as far as misa knows her stalker just fucking died right there. this is after kira kills her parents (something i messed up in my fic but it's too late to fix lmao) so i wonder if she saw it as like… this force in the sky that wanted her to live. someone out there who loved her so much he would do anything for her. i wonder how that interfaced with her mental health and how reckless she is all the time.

and then rem carries the notebook down to misa on purpose (she apologizes to misa for giving her the notebook when misa's in prison). so now misa knows that actually it was two separate people who saved her emotionally (light) vs physically (gelus). i feel like this is probably part of why she goes ._. when rem explains the whole gelus thing to her; she wanted it to be kira who saved her. but oh well! now she has the notebook she can help kira, and isn't that even better! completely agree that was her whole reason to keep going. yes.

god i wonder the same thing all the time. what else? the coolest marriage ceremony ever? (they get engaged but never married…) kids? grandkids? some kind of summit in her career? everything hollower and hollower until she implodes in on herself?

The lab tucked away behind the bookcase may still be one of the coolest things that Peter had ever seen that was Harry's. Right after that would be the glider itself, now that he'd seen more of the things it could do and was a lot less worried about what the sound of it meant for him. Early on, he got used to meeting up with Harry there while he'd finished up working on something, or Peter had brought something to work on. Like the device that got them between universes in the first place that they worked to improve to what it was now. This was going to be the first time that he would be going in to look at research himself. Something to work on and reference and even study from to help make something new.

It was one thing to happen to be in the room when it was pulled up in the first place, and then be told how to get into the lab and open it himself. The fact that Harry trusted him to not just work in the lab, or be able to open it, but have access to the research he kept private wasn't something he was going to be taking lightly. Or a fact that didn't make him want to soften and warm all over again.

He chuckled at the light tease and smiled more with his own in return, "And I feel very paid attention to by you, and appreciate it." the feeling was also very mutual. Both for the important things and the little, simple ones.

For a moment he was quiet though, trying to figure out where the best place to start was for explaining everything. There was a lot to cover and a lot of options with it. He nodded and leaned against the desk slightly, "Alright so, my dad was hired on for the Cross Species Genetics department at Oscorp, the idea behind it was to research and develop possible treatments or cures for serious conditions. Which means trying to figure out how to balance both genetics in a way that one doesn't overpower the other, but they co-exist-" it might have been a little better to give the rundown with the drive actually plugged in. With all the charts and notes to be looked at, but Peter did his best to go over his father's research. As detailed as he could, and making sure to pause if it looked like Harry had a question about it. Or if it just looked like he did.

There would be a serious need for something calmer as a distraction, Harry suspected, especially during those first days. Especially as everything felt too sharp, too jagged, and the presence of anyone around him became far too difficult to ignore.

They had managed, long ago, back when all they'd had was the sewer tunnels and then some abandoned places that felt safe-ish, and this would be far more comfortable, far less stress-inducing. It still wouldn't be ideal, but he expected they'd manage.

Regarding Peter's request, moreover, Harry's nod was easy.

"Feel free to." He offered. "You know how to open the lab, and you're welcome to check those files anytime you need."

He'd trusted Peter before, and even more so now, for all he'd need to include him on the lock keeping it safe. It still was a reasonable request, and one far from unexpected, when there was so much to know and so much at stake.

And then there came the offer, and Harry's smile was almost an echo of the one in Peter's safe, if a bit warmer. Because he didn't know if Peter had ever explained this all, and he remembered all around it that he'd ever told him. But it was something he was not going to risk not understanding perfectly.

"The stage is yours." He offered. "And so is all of my attention... not that it isn't the case a lot of the time." He even teased, just a little.

I am overjoyed to introduce you all to my new and most prized possession — the fanbind (!!!) of seeking a friend for the end of the world made by @dyingslowlybutfasterthanyouare and @rainfern! My haphazard photo-snapping does absolutely no justice to their beautiful work, so you’ll have to trust me that it looks even better in person.

I really can’t express how much it means to me to have this. As a kid my dream was to be a published fiction writer, and I used to imagine what my books would look like and what it would feel like to hold one, and as a writer of primarily fanfiction in adulthood, I sort of let that one go. But getting to see this copy of seeking a friend and put it on my bookshelf is like realizing that dream, and I’m so thankful to have a chance to do that!

@dyingslowlybutfasterthanyouare I know I’ve been hollering in your DMs about this for a week, and @rainfern, we haven’t had a chance to talk, but let me just say it again — this is my new favorite thing and I have been carrying it around like a security blanket ever since it got here. You both are amazing!

People like this have made me terrified that I am mischaracterizing my favorite character by playing into his strengths and emphasizing them so much... That I'm making things "too anime", "too over-the-top", and by doing that straying away from the groundedness that made the character compelling in the first place... But I think it's better to be a fan who loves someone so much they're willing to step into goofy over-the-top showcases of strength and morals out of love than being a fake fan who only ever rags on what they proclaim is so dear to them. I dunno. I don't think I'm wrong in saying that. I'm hella insecure when it comes to my own writing, especially with this guy because I want to do him as much justice as I possibly can as a writer. But I have to convince myself that it's not too much.

keep in mind im only like 20 hours in (but am aiming for as completionist as i can get without a guide) but like. man i dont know. im having fun playing veilguard as a video game with fun combat and great visuals but this thing is not a dragon age game. which is a real shame because the first three games gave it SO much to build on. like its just all the little things.

magic healing had really interesting lore in the first two games, especially with the concept of spirit healers. even in inquisition they had the idea of having to use elfroot to make/restock your healing potions, which were pretty finite, and in da2 there were only so many that you had to buy. but in veilguard theres just… pots of them? youre in ancient ruins you should be preserving for study and the game wants you to break shit for a thousand year old healing potion? its one thing for it to be entertaining gaming but another for it to just disregard the lore set up in previous games.

dalish elves are totally raised to believe in their creators as benevolent gods, right? so why is an elven rook so blatantly flippant about “yep we’re killing the elven gods that are real and evil!” and all the dalish just say “oh damn we have to kill our gods that are real and evil even though we have no proof of this”

the blight. the mere CONCEPT of the blight in dao was terrifying. having its only lore explanation as “the maker’s curse for the ancient magisters’ hubris” being something almost obviously being wrong, but still not having a true explanation. darkspawn showed some level of intelligence — not just with the architect, but in that they build their own weapons and structures! that they knew when to retreat, who to target! the idea of TOUCHING anything blighted was terrifying, something that could be fatal to your warden, to hawke’s sibling, hell it’s behind aveline’s whole story. but in veilguard theyre functionally just zombies. and u can stand in fully blighted space with only a minor temporary penalty. like. what.

dai heavily implying hawke and their LI caused a ruckus in weisshaupt and made the wardens shut themselves away, saying that your warden from dao was researching how to cure the blight — potentially as a mage themselves, and potentially with the research from avernus and the architect — but all of that is just… not addressed.

is varric not still kirkwall’s viscount. should we not let him out of the lighthouse so he can stop that city from exploding again.

mage rights being SUCH a huge deal in the other games and just…totally skimmed over. even if we think of the best case scenario, that a decade later nobody bats an eye at free mages, should it not be so recent that theres signs of the historic centuries-long oppression theyve faced. is nobody in this world mad at how theyve been treated by most of thedas.

ik inquisition did it too but i miss my sovereigns/silvers/coppers money system. “+6 gold coins” grow up for real

even from a plain old mechanics standpoint, theres no combat pausing, no fun or freedom or control for the party members in combat. like this could be any action game theres absolutely nothing to link it to any dragon age history.

why can random ass warriors and rogues use floating elven magic. why can warriors summon floating shields and cast flaming weapons and necrotic damage.

seriously i LIKE the combat but its just antithetical to what we’ve learned and been told in the previous games from a lore perspective. like come on.

i cant even get into the elf and qunari stuff itll piss me off too bad. but like idk all the things in dragon age that i love and that made me think so fondly of the series for so much of life is just… gone. this could be any fantasy action game. theres nothing dragon age in here. what made the magic and elves and darkspawn and cultural details feel so unique are gone.
