Do you have any fame aus or anything else that inspired you for the dear reader series?

no fame au's, unfortunately :( i am a BIG fan of fame au's, however, so i do have some recs! but the inspiration for dear reader was largely just me listening to my music and forming an au around it - one playlist turned into two, which turned into seven, which turned into 16, etc - and then i had a full au plot in my head😭

but for recs!! i bookmark pretty much every fame au i read just because i love them so much. they're definitely my niche i just cannot stop putting these people on red carpets - and it's always been this waySDKJF

you'd be paranoid too (if everyone was out to get you) by harrowhark is a catradora fame au (popstar!catra) and it was one of the first fics i ever read on ao3 and literally changed my brain chemistry. now this was like 3-4 years ago, so it's been a while since i've read it, even though when i was in my shera hyperfixation i re-read it like six times i think - if you ARE a shera fan, i would 100% recommend this one, i still remember how incredible it was! did it inspire the dear reader-verse specifically? no, they're very different in terms of plot/characters, but i feel like if i'm talking about fics that inspired me this one's essential😭

everyone wake up new jinx album just dropped by Drindrak is similar to the first one in that it is a fame au that just made me love the trope so much, even though it is much more crack than angst, unlike you'd be paranoid😭it's an arcane fic where jinx... becomes a popstar? except it's like, set in runeterra and vi is still in jail and all of that. like. I DONT KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I FUCKING LOVE ITSKDF i swear i just love a good crack fic every now and then, and this did it WITH fame?? i love. and so yeah, looking back on it, i actually do think it inspired dear reader a bit in the way that jinx was absolutely chaotic (will i ever stop on the jinx nico parallels? i wrote a goddamn solangelo timebomb au already but i'm still going to be pointing it out)

he was seen on occasion (pacing the rocks, staring out at the midnight sea) by stargirltv is a solangelo fame au!! and i know that i already rec'd it. but like. you have to know how much i LOVE this fic and though, once again, the plots are pretty different - but also similar in the sense of the character dynamics! so yeah tbh i'd say i probably did, unintentionally, take a lot of inspo from this, just because i do love it so much, and it was one of the only fame au's for solangelo that i had read (i've read much more now, ofc, seeing as i stalk the fame and social media tags like a hawk)

and then the last thing i feel like i have to mention when talking about the inspiration for this fic is the book, red white and royal blue. i think i mentioned in the first chapter of talk your talk's end note that this entire au?? started off as a rwrb crossover in my head. nico's age was calculated with alex's in mind. will going to college at nyu was because i originally planned for alex and him to idk meet at a class or smth. cecil was originally a law student (another ironic thing for a child of hermes, and yet i ended up making him work towards cyber security lmfao) just so he could somehow become friends with alex. i was fully emerged in this universe where somehow these friend groups collided, and i fully orchestrated nico as a popstar just so that they'd have double the fandoms to go crazy about it. so does it really have to do anything with rwrb in terms of plot?? no, but alex and henry are entirely to thank for this!!!😭

i know that i kind of took a bit of a strange route for a popstar au in talk your talk so it doesn't really match the usual trope? like person is already famous -> meets someone, either famous or not -> fight to get together bc of the press -> some sort of leaked photo of them -> they choose each other in the end. and dont get me wrong, i will eat up that trope any day, but i do really like what i did with talk your talk! i love any form of fame au, and so it's always just fun to see different spins on the common tropes :)

• same as cannon only the temple is never brought back in feast, the building itself is brought back but the monks are gone Mari may be a powerful ladybug because she’s a true holder but they’ve been dead for a century and she has a cap on her powers because of her age (Chloé also only leaves for about a month or two)

•before fu goes bonk he actually teaches mari some shit abt the miraculous and the order. (The language, history and as much magic as he can)

•after she becomes the guardian she no longer has the time for class drama and resigns as class pres

•she can also train with past guardians and holders of any miraculous that she’s used (only ones that have died already so in this au not hippolyta or Alfred)

•she throws herself into finding out who hawkmoth is because now she has a secret order to rebuild and she’s done with not being able to cry

•she tells chat noir at their next battle to shape up after he almost gets her killed because stealing a kiss is more important than the battle at hand

•chat throws a fit and doesn’t show up for a while(how long is up to the writer)

• during all of this we still have lila and her classmates being dickheads so she has to deal with being all alone cause Adrien doesn’t have her back and she knows this because it’s been months and he hasn’t helped her once

•mari gets close to a previous ladybug who teaches her how to remain herself while putting up a front to intimidate the enemy (she uses this to appear disinterested in lila and her classmates effectively telling them fuck off idc what you think)

•after Lila says that marinette pushed her down the stairs again mari gets harmed in some way and decides to take tomoe up on her offer to learn fencing (as a result she and Kagami get closer)

•mari brings up wanting to be able to carry a self defense weapon on her person at all times but also doesn’t want to carry something like a taser or a knife so Kagami suggests war fans

•mari is like hell yea because a. She’s now closer to her culture and b. They look sick and she’s been wanting a style change for some time now

•Chloé is back at this point and sees what’s happening in the class and is like wtf

•while away she decided to improve herself so when she sees this she begrudgingly is like fuck it alliance

•mari and Chloé after an apology and a few tenative weeks become friends

•they have their style change together we now have techwear and occasional soft girl mari who constantly has a fan on her that matches with her outfit

•thanks to her training with the Tsurugis she now has an excuse for being so well versed in self defense

•she makes Chloé and Kagami permant holders and while Luka always has sass on him she only tells him to transform when she’s positive she needs him (watching your friends die time and time again and having the future of everything weigh on you being able to turn back time is stressful and she doesn’t want to fuck Luka up like fu fucked her up)

•at this point mari has also gotten closer to aurore who starts to run a blog once the ladyblog goes to shit and gets the turtle

•unlike the others she’s a hero whose focused on the citizens, she gets them to saftey and defends them if they get caught up in a battle rather than fighting Akumas directly

•chat noir hasn’t been present in any battles so they’re easier for mari and it reduces her stress over it

•they discover gabriel is hawkmoth (how it is is up to the writer)

•they have a showdown in which chat defends Gabriel because ‘he could never be hawkmoth what are you doing’

•because of this mari now has both the ladybug and the black cat miraculous on her during the fight with hawkmoth

•she ends up having to use both at the same time bacause training or not that power cap is a bitch when she’s fighting two people who don’t have it

•divine being mari because the two miraculous if not used to make a wish will just transfer the power it would take to make the wish into whoever combined them

•she beats hawkmoth and says fuck it hands him and Mayura over to the cops and peace’s out

•she doesn’t take back the miraculous from her team only Adrien gabe and nath

•she then chills out for the remainder of the school year and decides to visit the temple during the summer

•(wether she told her parents about everything or got disowned is up to you)

•by this point mari has made plenty of money as mdc and can afford to just fuck off to Tibet and rent an apartment for the summer

•(if she goes alone or with someone else is up to you)

•she spends the summer recovering all that she can from the temple (scrolls, additional miraculous, a grimoire that all guardians use)

•so by the time she returns to France for her senior year she’s got a good grip on magic and what she needs to do starting with recovering a box of miraculous that was apparently lost before the temple even fell

•she works with the others to pinpoint where they could be (museums, ruins, family heirlooms, buried under centuries of dirt, at a thrift or jewelry shop)

•eventually she ends up in Gotham for her senior trip

•where she gets caught up in a two face/scarecrow attack at Wayne enterprises (dick was leading the tour so he can’t get away to nightwing and Damien stuck around because it was either help with the tour or school and he fucking hates it there)

•she slips away and transforms (pleas e I’m begging for a costume change the onzie is hella ugly)

•comes back and kicks ass fixes the damage so no one needs the actual cure to fear toxin and peace’s out again

•she ends up doing it a few more times while she’s there somehow always around Damien/Robin (hes like 12-13)

•she nails him out of a bad joker situation (use your imagination) and he’s like yes my sister my hella suspicious sister I’ve adopted you now 😌

• so that’s how she ends up eating dinner in her ladybug get up with the Wayne’s

•she decides to go to college at gotham academy cause Gotham needs healing and there’s more than one miraculous in this town

•so now here she is tellin robin/Damien that she’ll be back in like a week or two because she needs to get everything in Paris sorted out before she chills here

•(wether they know ladybug = marinette is up to you)

•she goes back to Paris to finish out the school year going back to Gotham on the weekends to heal it the best she can and hang out with her cool murder baby brother

•she gets along with Jason the best after Damien cause it’s fun to fuck shit up with someone who is just as chaotic as you but slightly adjacent

•no romantic parings with any of the batfam cause she sees them all as her family (if she has a romantic thing going on with someone it’s probably with Chloé cause I’m a hoe for Chloénette)

•eventually Damien has a really bad day and he calls her at what he’s to be 1 am because he almost killed someone again and he just wants to be distracted from it

•so mari takes him to some old ruins she was planing on going to

•que Damien coming into the dinning room the next day with a magic sword and looking surprisingly content

•now mari is just the cool tomb raider sister who will takes Damien ruins when he’s feeling down hands him some cookies and let him sleep over

•eventually she gets caught stealing from a museum and now Bruce is talking about what a bad influence she is on Damien and how she’s not allowed to see him anymore and she’s like 😦

•ends up explaining everything (if they didn’t know her identity before they know it now)

•and Bruce is like wow shit do you need a parental figure

•mari now has been officially adopted as a Wayne

okay I know I made the ask game but this question is so hard rip.

UH I think she’d be like... kind of directionless? Unspecified bad family situation, she’s not in touch with them anymore. I don’t know how to put it like. Ratbag lesbian type (I mean this with all affection but she is a bit of a mess). Like she does gig work and maybe sells like. Weed to college students sometimes. Lives in a shitty apartment, goes to house parties, no real plans or ambitions. She’s a lot of people’s friend-of-a-friend but no one’s friend if that makes sense. A Too Cool For That loner type but also kinda sad, too proud to ask for help, etc.

IDK I think her & Seven would still def meet because I would be sad if they weren’t together but I can’t see them doing the Nuclear Family thing they do in the Wolf Timeline really (like I can see them maybe having kids crash on their couch or fostering or something but not having a billion biological kids the way they do in canon lol). Like I think it’s never just them in their house, they always have a rotating cast of people crashing with them & this big extended found family! but not a 2.5 kids and a house in the suburbs thing.

UH but before that happens I think Rover eventually kinda gets over herself (and reluctantly goes to therapy or something) & slowly shapes up (for some reason I imagine she becomes like. A plumber or carpenter but who knows) and her & Seven stick together and make a life for themselves that was better than the way they grew up! I don’t imagine they’re wealthy or successful by like, most metrics, but they’re happy together & I think help out around the community & esp help younger LGBT people out! Which is success to them. 

Also while Seven’s name probably would have to become more normal in Human Verse I think Rover is still just named that as a human. She did probably come up with it herself but thats just her name.

boring answer but she loves her kids :”). I think before meeting Seven, Rover never even considered that she’d like... have any sort of family? She just sort of expected to be alone until she eventually died young (which very nearly was the case-- If Seven hadn’t found Rover when she did Rover probably wouldn’t have recovered from getting shot & would have just died). Like she acts all tough & cool about her days as a lone wolf but the reality is that it was hard & it sucked & if she’d stayed a loner she would be dead by now. So she didn’t have any expectation of having kids (or a mate, or even like, friends really) for a big part of her formative years.

& because of that, even though she’s in like late middle age & fairly far removed from those days it’s still sometimes like... surprising to her that her life’s turned out the way it has. I think especially in the early days of just having Rime it felt really unreal to her-- like watching this tiny creature her & Seven were raising fucking... learn to walk, and talk, and be curious and start to engage with the world like ‘is this real? did we really do this?’ 

So even though she’s a bit too cool to say it out loud a ton, she really loves her family (& they know it)!

She likes to go up to the overlook (on top of the cliffs that look out over most of the pack’s territory) and just watch things go by. Her & Seven spend a lot of time there when they want to just be with each other for a while. It’s really kind of shocking & humbling to both of them to see the thriving pack that’s grown out of what they started together & they like to watch pack life go by from up there! Plus it’s too steep for pups to wander up so it’s a good place to get some peace & quiet sometimes haha!

she begins to plan the moment she finally convinces herself to look at the test she’d bought only moments prior at a drugstore several miles from hartford   (   she can’t take it at home,  or anywhere nearby  —  people talk in hartford,  and she knows there are those in her mother’s employ who go through the garbage,  so she can’t risk it   ).   she can’t stick around.  her parents barely tolerate her as it is,  and christopher’s parents rarely try to mask their blatant distaste.  she’s different.  she always has been,  and she knows it.  maybe she’d dreamed of going to yale once,  but those dreams had faded a long time ago.  it’s not what she wants.  she’s smart,  sure,  she could get in.  even without her family’s name backing her up,  she could get in.  but now she wants to even less than she had before.  it’s like a weight is lifted from her shoulders the moment the decision’s made.

she slips away in the evening,  a week later,  while her parents are out.  with two suitcases packed with her favorite clothes,  and a backpack filled with the allowances she’s saved up for years,  she’s ready for independence.  she finds it in a little town:  stars hollow.  she finds a job,  a home,  a woman who treats her more like a daughter than her parents ever did.  several months later,  she gives birth to a daughter and she knows she’d made the right choice.  her life is full,  her heart is full,  and while things are hard,  lorelai never once looks back.

so yuta’s parents always make him go to these things and he’s super annoyed like listen for a sec

yuta was a samurai in medieval japan when he died

so the armor he has to wear at these things

and don’t even get me started on the hairstyle it was long but like shaved on the top, then rolled around into a bun?? idk how to describe it but yuta has to wear a wig that looks like that for the party

soon you hear this clang of metal and you turn around (slowly bc ya know,,,, you’re a zombie)

so you like look around for some kind of escape but before you can leave

and if zombies had blood it’d probably rush to his cheeks but instead he just drops his helmet and runs after it

Monthly Album Write-Up #2 (March 2018): Death Cab for Cutie’s Plans

I really wish I could be a super lame ass hipster and say I discovered Death Cab in 2004, but in reality, I found out about them around 2012 by just surfing around indie stations and word-of-mouth.  As an incoming freshman in college just out of love in a past relationship and starting a fresh long-distance one, the moody and melancholy music of the band intertwined with the somber lyrics of Ben Gibbard hit home to me in a way that no other act ever really did.  While I believe Transatlanticism is a stronger album, in part to its higher highs and my own personal relationships, over time, I’ve just grown more and more fond of the incredibly consistent and just as well-written Plans.

Background: After the success of previous works The Photo Album and the aforementioned Transatlanticism, Death Cab found themselves signed with Atlantic Records, leaving their longtime indie based Barsuk Records behind.  Fans of the band were initially worried, hoping the band wouldn’t “sell out” or lose any creative freedom that carried throughout prior works.  True to Ben’s word in that “nothing will change” save for a logo swap on physical releases, Plans debuted to widespread acclaim, even netting the band its first Grammy nominations for Best Alternative Album in 2006 and Best Pop Performance by a Duo/Group with its single I Will Follow You Into the Dark.

Cover: The cover always has this feeling of beauty in it to me: a dark red bush or shrub of some sorts atop a quiet grassy patch with dimming city lights in the background.  To me, this symbolizes the main themes not only in this album, but from Transatlanticism before, a feeling of loneliness, yet still life; moving on past a city into a wild unknown; a forlorn and dark atmosphere yet a light just beyond.  And these themes are echoed further in the tracks within.

Songs: Like a lot of Death cab albums (or pretty much all of them no biases here), the album starts off with one of its strongest tracks, Marching Bands of Manhattan.  Quirky lyrics atop a dotted guitar picking and a subdued tambourine tell a far-off lover of the extent of how far our singer will go for her.  City themes, primarily New York, give the listener a feeling of what home means, urban love with vast buildings and deep lakes and loud proclaiming noises.  Shortly afterwards, a long and swelling crescendo hits with a repeated message.  Don’t lose the love; I will do anything to let you know that it will be there for you.

“Sorrow drips into your heart, through a pinhole Just like a faucet that leaks and there is comfort in the sound But while you debate half empty or half full It slowly rises Your love is gonna drown”

Soul Meets Body is a familiar single off the album, continuing off that theme of proving a love to that special person.  This song, with its more positive lyrics and bouncier beats and guitar pluckings, gives off a more hopeful vibe for the two, the singer wants to do everything for her, even past their lifetimes.  As the title represents, this affection and love is a more emotional and spiritual kind. Summer Skin, however, deals with two people falling out of love, almost in a stark contrast.  The song starts off with low yet sharp piano chords and a really good backbeat by drummer Jason McGerr.  In comparison to Soul Meets Body, this relationship feels more like a simple fling, one to fit the times and the season, nothing more than a physical coat that gets shed off with a setting sun. The last verse is classic Death Cab, with these seemingly hopeless yet brutally honest words.  They knew their relationship was ending and they peeled it off of each other as one last act together.

Different Names for the Same Thing feels like yet another extension off the previous song, with the singer aimless wandering by himself, no one else around him.  Feeling lost yet hopeful in a way, taking a train with a old map, seemingly useless.  The music quickly picks up, as the song is short on words, almost in a way to lead our singer to a different horizon.  One thing that I will always love about this band is the great feeling of flow between the songs themselves.  The albums as a whole feel stronger because of this, as a listener can relate with not just one, but a feeling of multiple.  It feels less like a collection of songs and more like a structured and complete work.

Probably the most recognizable song off the album is the acoustic ballad I Will Follow You Into the Dark.  With a simple strumming pattern and just Ben, the song is much simpler than previous works, but remains just as strong lyrically, even with the first line “Love of mine, someday you will die”.  However, once again, we hear the singer proclaim a deep loving feeling, one that transcends our mortality.  The mood evokes a Sound of Settling of sorts, with Ben realizing that their time is limited, but will not lose this feeling.  We also get a rebuttal to Catholicism in the second verse, one that personally reflects on Gibbard’s more agnostic viewpoints.  Not believing that “fear is the heart of love”, he leaves this life behind to discover true meaning with this special someone, someone that he will stay with until that fateful final day.

Your Heart is an Empty Room has the band rejoining as a whole, retaining the subdued electric guitars accenting over a melancholy acoustic line.  Going back to the themes of leaving the city, the singer holds this feeling of starting over after a lost love.  His empty room heart is all that seemed to remain after a burning breakup of sorts.  There feels like this sense of hope with a new beginning and “so many possibilities”, to move on past that fire and that pain, possibly reflecting other works like Summer Skin, Tiny Vessels or A Lack of Color. 

Continuing with a recurring mindset of losing love, Someday You Will Be Loved reassures that the singer is just not the right person.  Falling back to this feeling of settling into sadness for Gibbard, he is willing to put himself through this for the sake of his lover.  She must remain hopeful, must like the person in the preceding Empty Room.

You may feel alone When you're falling asleep Every time tears roll down your cheek But I know your heart belongs To someone you've yet to meet Someday you will be loved

Crooked Teeth again has a backdrop of a city, this time literally swallowing the two characters and their love.  The album begins to take this less optimistic mood towards the last half and Gibbard almost feels helpless in these kinds of situations.  Despite the want for a love and a relationship, it felt doomed from the start and in a similar vein to Tiny Vessels, there was no such love to be had or even forced out.  The guitars take this nice solo of noise before the last chorus, finding the power to leave everything behind.

In a similar vein to the title track from Transatlanticism, What Sarah Said is the album’s longest work, piano driven and with another fantastic drum part in the back.  The song takes the previous themes of love past life and death and puts it in a more realistic scenario, a hospital room.  Over time, this song has taken so many meanings to me, especially recently with the passing of my father.  In one more last plea for hope in the album as a whole, the poignant line comes through like that last beep on the LCD:

Love is watching someone die

This line takes so much meaning and can draw similar meanings throughout other songs on Plans; watching a relationship die like in Crooked Teeth or Summer Skin, watching a feeling of optimism die like in Marching Bands or Someday, or in a more literal sense like here and in I Will Follow You into the Dark.  It’s a feeling that no one wants to go through, yet is a very real experience in so many walks of life, and it’s one that Gibbard puts in the forefront all along Plans.

Brothers On A Hotel Bed is perhaps my favorite track on this album.  While I may have deeper connections to songs like Sarah and I Will Follow You and Marching Bands, this is the song I always come back to.  The piano stays at the front, with this empty feeling melody, almost like we’re walking out of the hospital to a cold evening as the drums and bass kick in.  Gibbard feels out of love again, but feels the fault is all his own.  Changes that can’t seem to be helped, whether physical or over time.  We get this wonderful second verse of wanting to escape the city, to venture out and live and “leave everything behind” and it really captures this feeling of an early love.  That precious first few months of wanting to do everything before the final chapters come around and you’re barely feeling anything and you can’t help but feel it’s something inside you that made the relationship falter.  It’s a song that hits very close to me as I know my failures in past relationships.

The album closes on the slowest track Stable Song, a more condensed version of Stability released on, well, The Stability EP.  Again, we gets this depressive tone, this tone of resting easy yet out of love.  This last half of the album is such a stark contrast to the optimistic overreaching from the first few tracks.  We feel as if our love and our actions are all for naught and we’re left with questions and doubts and uncertainty that can never be truly shaken off.  Ben doesn’t mind however, as repeated in the last few lines, and fades away to move on.

Conclusion: Death Cab’s strengths in albums come from this wonderful blend of emotional storytelling with a gloomy mood despite feelings of hopefulness and heart and Plans is no exception, perhaps even the best example.  Listeners can feel that drop and that shatter of emotion across all spectrums and the songs only get better with age and time and firsthand experience.  While Transatlanticism may still be my favorite, this follow up comes very very close.  As drummer Jason McGerr perfectly sums it up “If Trans…was the inhale, Plans is the exhale”, and I wholly recommend you take a deep breath and check out both.

2. If you could choose one minor inconvenience to never have to deal with again, what would you pick?: Public transit schedules. They’re so darn inconvenient (And yet I’m commuting for the remainder of my uni career. At least I’m saving money..?). -.-’

3. Have you got any useless talents?: I try to make use of my talents, so I’m gonna say no. :b

4. If you could be really really good at one thing, what would it be?: Taking (good & worthwhile) risks because I’m always so darn careful so I end up not trying new things sometimes.

7. What is something you’re proud of?: My friends who are just starting college/uni this year. Most of them are already setting up their dorms and getting ready for classes. They’re growing up so fast! :’)

I have to get to know the person before I “fall in love” with them, let alone having a crush on them. Which is why the biggest crushes I’ve had were on some of my closest friends. Both of these locations are places where I’d have more than enough room to move or think. ^-^

Outdoors: Somewhere near the sea, where I could feel the sand on my toes, hear the waves splashing onto the shore, smell the ocean breeze, and watch the orange sunset glowing along the horizon.

Indoors: An empty practice room. Wooden floors, large mirrors in front of the room, dance barres along the side walls, a few windows displaying the outside world, and a speaker/stereo system perfect for blasting the music around the room.

19. Do you have kids? If not, do you want them someday?: No kids atm, but I love working with them! Yes, I’d like kids someday~.

20. What was your favorite book as a child?: I read many books as a wee child. But one book I can clearly remember is Stellaluna. It’s an adorable story about a bat who discovers who she truly is thanks to both her adoptive and biological families (The former being a family of birds and the latter being a family of bats.).

21. Name one thing you just don’t get what all the hype is about: Fidget spinners. I’m still seeing people freak out about those things. Didn’t the trend die a month or two ago?

24. What’s something you’d like the chance to do someday?: Act in a theatrical production. I haven’t done theatre in a year and I already miss it. T.T

Or do generally prefer to not rock the boat?: I’ll definitely speak my mind if I’m well-versed in the topic and if I’m passionate about it. If I want to present a controversial opinion, I have to be sure that I can articulate my POV eloquently and professionally. I’m also more than willing to listen to the other side, as long as they fully know what they’re talking about (Frankly, I will not take any B.S. if I suspect B.S.).

26. What’s the dumbest fad you’ve been caught up in?: I’m blanking... Yeah, IDK, but I’m pretty sure I got caught up in some kind of dumb fad back in middle school. *shivers b/c I don’t want to relive those years*

27. What’s something you thought was cool as a kid/adolescent, but now cringe at yourself for?: When I was younger (like elementary/middle school-age), I dreamed of becoming a singer. In order to accomplish that dream, I joined my school and church choirs: however, that turned out to be a pretty toxic experience since almost everyone I was singing with treated every single practice and performance as a singing competition. Like, c’mon you guys: we aren’t on Glee. -.-’

28. What’s a trait you consider to be very admirable?: Honesty: I admire people who are genuine and true.

29. Is there a particular kind of item people always tend to give you as gifts? (For instance, people always get you things with ducks on them because you like ducks, etc.): Books (people know I’m a huge bookworm), clothes (b/c I’m usually too lazy/don’t have time to shop for my own clothes, LOLOL), stuffed animals (I’m a child at heart and I love cuddly & cute things), sweets (especially chocolate).

30. Do you speak multiple languages? Which ones?: 

English is my mother tongue.

I apparently used to speak Tagalog fluently when I was very young, but then I stopped speaking that language once I started preschool; however, I’ve picked up some terms over the years, so I can sort of dissect my parents’ conversations w/ the other adults (”Yes, Mom, I knew that you were talking about my uni stuff with Tita *insert name here*.” :P), plus I’m going to take a Tagalog 101 class in Autumn Quarter, so I’ll (hopefully) learn how to say complete sentences instead of just the names of foods, holidays, and Filipino Folk Dances. xD

I learned Spanish throughout my high school career, so I’m okay in that department even though I haven’t practiced speaking/listening/writing in that language recently. I’m still fluent enough to help my sisters with their Spanish homework, so that’s something. :P

I tried learning some French, Japanese, and Korean through various language learning apps, but to no avail.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

31. Would you rather live in the big city or the countryside?: Can I choose like a little town instead? Big city: the countryside would be MUCH too quiet for me (Plus I’d be much too tempted to run atop every hill Sound of Music style and start singing at the top of my lungs - which would probably annoy a lot of people, myself included. :P).

If you could have a superpower, but it was only mildly useful, what ability would you want to have?: “Mildly useful?” (O.o) I guess the ability to learn things VERY quickly - like, master an activity on the first try. I actually have a friend with that ability, which has allowed him to almost effortlessly master almost every sport he’s ever learned: he’s basically a superhuman and I admire and envy him for his “superpower.” :P <3

39. Something people are always surprised to learn about you: My age: people think that I’m much younger than I actually am, mostly because of my shorter-than-average height and my baby face. I’m basically an adult stuck in a teenager’s body. xD

41. Worst injury you’ve had?: My broken heart (JKJK, sort of. :P) I got burned by the metal tip of a very hot glue gun. Thanks to that, I have a tiny scar on my upper right arm.

MUN QUESTIONS.

Q1 :   if  you  could  write  your  character  your  way  in  their  own  movie ,   what  would  it  be  called ,  what  style  would  it  be  filmed  in ,  and  what  would  it  be  about ?          

A1 :  It’d probably be an indie drama called “Tusks” that would document Tetsu’s struggle with himself, showing it from his childhood bullying to meeting people who accept him and help him accept himself. It would probably look at the relationship between him and his father too.

Q2 :   what  would  their  soundtrack / score  sound  like ?          

A2 : I think that the soundtrack would reflect where Tetsu was in his life so, 90′s Japanese pop for his childhood, slowly building up to more modern western pop/rock music. 

Q3 :   why  did  you  start  writing  this  character ?        

A3 :  I started writing Tetsu as a spur of the moment thing. He was going to be my new D&D character but he developed surprisingly quickly and I didn’t want to waste it on a campaign that wouldn’t appreciate him.

Q4 :   what  first  attracted  you  to  this  character ?          

A4 : To be honest it was how he’d transition from a fantasy D&D character to a modern character with modern problems.

Q5 :   describe  the  biggest  thing  you  dislike  about  your  muse.          

A5 : I dislike the way he sees himself. He sees himself as a danger to others and that he’s not as good as other people- he struggles to understand that different does not mean worse.

Q6 :   what  do  you  have  in  common  with  your  muse ?          

A6 :  our ability to go with the flow but also take charge when we need to. 

Q7 :   how  does  your  muse  feel  about  you ?          

A7 : at times, soup probably dislikes me because he’s great angst potential but, if we were to actually meet, I feel as if we’d get along. We wouldn’t be best friends but we’d still be comfortable talking.

Q8 :   what  characters  does  your  muse  have  interesting  interactions  with ?        

A8 : anyone who thinks that he is interesting or wants to crack his head open and see what’s rattling around in that big head of his.

Q9 :   what  gives  you  inspiration  to  write  your  muse ?        

A9 :  a playlist of everything on shuffle, ranging from 90s british pop to 2017 pirate metal. just keep clicking next till I find something that works.

Q10 :   how  long  did  this  take  you  to  complete ?          

A10 :  too long

Anyway, meet my main SDV farmer, Lanie Granger! She was my first farmer and was essentially based off of a combination of my own personality and a personality that I figured suited a character behaving in terms of my playstyle, and her save is by far the one I’ve played the most. Answers to today’s questions are under the cut!

1. First things first! What’s their name and age, is there a special significance to their name? Gush about who they are! Name’s already been said, and Lanie’s somewhere in her mid-20s. The first name I just sorta grabbed out of thin air when I made the character, and her last name came from a title or something she had on the skill page at one point that looked like it would make a good last name lol. She’s a friendly go-getter who's willing to try anything once and has a hard time sitting down and doing one thing for long periods of time, though she does much better when it’s a physical activity like farming or fishing. (Yes, fishing. It’s probably her best of the “official” skills, and something about the thrill of the catch makes it worth the potentially long waits. It still helps to have someone to talk to while she’s got her line in the water, though.)

2. What was your farmer’s life like in the city? Were they a part-timer at jojacorp, were they just fired from their dream job? Not too much to say about Lanie’s city life, really. She enjoyed it well enough while she was growing up, but after college she kind of lost contact with her friends and got sucked into work. Her job at Joja wasn’t half-bad in regards to job level or pay rate, but it was really unfulfilling for her. Her aforementioned impatience with sedentary work didn’t really help matters, either.

3. Why did your farmer decide to leave the city? Did your farmer have a loved one in the city? A significant other, a pet, a best friend? Pretty much the same answer as in question 2. Lanie was feeling unfulfilled and more-or-less “alone” in the life she was living and decided she needed a fresh start. Her parents still live in the city (she has no siblings, but gets along well with her parents), and a few of her old friends likely do as well (in the event that she ever reconnects with them), so she still visits when she can.

4. How did your farmer adjust to the farming life? Was it hard to get up early in the morning, are they deeply afraid of bugs? It wasn’t too bad. There was definitely a learning curve for the farming itself, but she managed in the meantime by supplementing it with fishing and foraging (which her grandfather had taught her when was younger).

5. Who was the first townsperson to make your farmer feel at home? Probably Robin. In addition to greeting Lanie and showing her to the farm when she first arrived, Robin’s enthusiasm in both introducing her to the townsfolk and helping her get the farmhouse running really helped Lanie feel welcome. Sam was a big help in that regard, too -- with his friendly and easygoing nature, Lanie found him easy to talk to and they became friends pretty quickly.

6. What season is your farmer’s favorite season, and why? Fall. It has bright colors and moderate temperatures like Spring without the hassle of starting the farm up all over again after Winter, plus that’s when blackberry season is! The fair and Spirit’s Eve are pretty cool too, but to be fair, Lanie likes most of the festivals.

7. What is your farmer’s most favorite thing in the whole wide world? A single thing? Hard to say, Lanie likes trying all kinds of stuff. If we’re going by the stardrop “favorite thing,” that would be animals, so her pet dog Goldie would make a good bet. Mostly though, she just likes being with the people (and animals) she cares about and just livin’ life.

8. Is there a favorite place your farmer likes to hang out at? If so, why? Again, Lanie likes all kinds of places (she’s especially fond of taking walks outdoors and sitting by the riverside to fish), but her favorite place would have to be the Stardrop Saloon. Partly because it’s just a good place to hang out with friends in general, partly because of Friday Game Night (she’s pretty thoroughly integrated into the Sam/Seb/Abigail group), and partly because she just plain likes the food, music and games there.

9. What song perfectly matches your farmer? That would be this one right here. I’m kind of amused that this was one of the questions, because I’ve had that song picked out for her for a while now. I imagine that if Lanie saw Zootopia, she’d probably hear that song for the first time, sit up and go “this is my theme song right here.” Incidentally, Zootopia would probably also be her favorite movie haha.

Bonus: Lanie does not come from the same story ‘verse that Constellations is set in. That ‘verse actually belongs to Jethro, a male farmer who’s much more shy than Lanie and has a special fondness for finding gems and artifacts.
