Spy x Family Chapter 98: An Explosion
Let's start with the most important thing and we'll go from there. Ready? This panel:
Tumblr media
Blink and you'll miss that insignificant comment from someone we don't even know their name. Nevertheless, given the implications of Project Apple, this panel is huge! Because, even if back then it was just a rumor, there's a chance it could also be true. Project Apple could have started during the first conflict. This leads me to the following theory:
Anya's biological parents were prisoners of war.
The story about Twilight as a soldier, Martha and Henry, as well as Millie, Franky, and even the Lady Patriots Society tell us about the dehumanization of the enemy. So yeah, it's very possible that it was acceptable for either side to do anything they wanted with captured enemies, that includes experimentation.
And by prisoners of war, I'm not only referring to soldiers and medical personnel, but also spies. Wouldn't it be funny if Anya's birth parents were also spies? It's too soon to tell, but it's so much fun to speculate 😆
At the beginning, it's stated that Anya was created by accident:
Tumblr media
Maybe she was "an accident" between two prisoners of war or between a prisoner of war being experimented on and a scientist 🤔
So here's another crazy idea: Everyone thinks that Anya learned Classical Language because it was used in the lab by scientists, but what if it was her biological parents the ones who taught her that language in order to be able to communicate with each other?
At some point, I thought that even if we learned about Anya's past there was a possibility we would never know about her parents, now I think we will.
About the Chapter
Clearly, SXF is an anti-war story that wants to show us how terrible war is for EVERYONE. That's why big and small characters, side or main, have been affected greatly by war.
I'm sure plenty of people will talk about Martha and Henry's love story. After this chapter, I think it's clear that they probably were separated by war and that Henry had to marry to save himself, leaving Martha up in the air. (I know I am a fool, but I keep hoping she's the one he married, but I don't think so 😭)
Anyways, leaving the cautionary semi-tragic love story aside (Ahem, watch out Twilight and Yor)...I see what the author is trying to do: The story shows us very clearly what happens to every person when pushed to their limits, when they and their families are in danger. It's a story about loss, loss, and more loss.
The story is trying to make the readers root for peace and be very adamant against war. This is a masterclass on "Show, don't tell." So even if a lot of these stories seem insignificant because it's about side characters, they are meant to influence the readers' point of view about war, so when it reaches the main characters, we all know what could happen to them. These stories are meant to raise the stakes for the main characters.
Now, I've said it before: It's very possible that close to the climax of the story, Ostania and Westalis will be at the verge of a third conflict. By then, we'll know much more about the main characters' background as well as many other stories of side characters affected by war (don't be surprised if The Garden was created as a consequence of it). So when we're close to the end, when war is about to happen, we'll know exactly what could happen to the Forgers, because it has already happened to so many people: loss.
Something to Keep in Mind
The more the story moves forward, the more curious I am about the Desmonds. Since all of the characters were affected by war, I'm wondering how were the Desmond affected? Melinda certainly has issues (did this happen during and because of the war?) and Donovan Desmond is still a BIG question mark. It easy to relate to what normal characters feel. If any of us were going through something similar, we would be terrified too. However, how is it for someone in charge? How did Desmond see and suffer war? I really want to know.
One Last Thing
If in two chapters focusing on two side characters Endo has managed to create such a beautiful love story, can you image what he plans to do with Twiyor, which is the main couple of the story??
I know I say this a lot, but after seeing this my expectations are high and I am convinced it'll be worth the wait.
Food for thought.

Am I the only one who's tripping? Could it be this new character, Sigmund, really used to be a spy, a militaire, or some kind of secret agent in his prime?
I lost it when Sigmund bought flowers without Yor even noticing. Is he skilled enough to sneak behind Yor who's an elite assassin?? Just like how Yor sneaked behind Twillight, an elite spy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I look back, the places he brought Yor and Anya are also strange. Like,
a mafia branch office, of all places??
Tumblr media
The waffle stall and flower shop are sus too, because we've seen WISE agents shared their intels using similar methods.
Tumblr media
It's like his feet reflexively brought him to the places he often visited when he was young.
Or maybe it's not Sigmund who used to be an agent, but Barbara?? Like, he nonchalantly walked into dangerous places and he always blame his wife, isn't it sus??
Tumblr media
Seeing that Sigmund always mentioned his wife when he walked into the "trap" -- like it's an everyday thing -- and when he entered the mafia office and the flower shop, it got me thinking, maybe Barbara used to be a Garden member? Or maybe I'm stretching it too far.
Now this is just my delulu talking but wouldn't it be crazy if Sigmund and Barbara represented Twillight and Yor's married life in the future? Has Anya acquired another badass family members??
Tumblr media
Nah, maybe I'm stretching. It's not impossible he went into those places by pure accidents. I mean, maybe he remembered the places from 40 years ago or smth, which have completely changed since then.
Wow Twillight's skeptic nature is rubbed off on me.
Regardless if they might be badasses or not, I'm happy to see Twillight & Yor got new parent figures, and Anya got new grandparents!

Anya's getting grandparents, the family plot thickens.
Just kidding, but actually, it's interesting that the Forgers are now living very close to someone who half remembers bombings in Ostania from a long time ago.
Tumblr media
Could it be we'll finally learn some historical facts? Because we know Westalis was bombed during Loid's childhood, just like we know Yor was an orphan, probably for a similar war-related reason (even though we never had a flashback on her side), but we still don't really understand what this very long war is all about, nor how it was triggered.
So, while Sigmund seems unrelated to the whole spy or Garden business (according to Anya's mind reading), he might still offer some interesting lore for Anya and her parents to know about, especially since he used to be a teacher.
Interesting chapter and new characters!

Very long rambling about the Spy x Family institutions, I have break it down to three post because I feel like its organized better this way:
[pt.1: WISE] [pt.2: SSS] [pt.3: Garden]
PART THREE: Garden.
Tumblr media
The Garden is the SxF institution we know the least about, it also happens to be the more insteresting one. First things first, WISE and SSS are inteligences services, which means they are focused on spying and alike activites; Garden, on the other hand is straight up execution. To me Garden doesn't seem particulary alligned with any Onstanian party we have been showed, Twilight calls Garden a "non oficial organization", while Franky says it works from the "government shadows", so they both give the idea that Garden works for the actual Ostanian goverment, I disagree but I dont have a solid foundation, its just a feeling I have and I will try to explain it: Let's see Garden's targets...they are corrupt politicians, some of whom seem to be rather wealthy, and terrorists (as seen on Short Mission 4/Ep1Season2), Yor often calls them "traitors". In the Friendship Scheme Arc, the Shoppkeppee seems to be rather adversed towards the National Unity Party (aka desmond party). And their only known ally seems to be a criminal organization. Also unlike WISE and SSS, Garden has a extreme lack of agents, we've only ever been showed two (im not counting the shopkepper), also their QG seems to be the shopkepper's garden, something that is so... personal. The Shopkepper, as far as we know, is the ultimate Garden Authority and he is depctited with very close relationship to his subordinates (again, unlike WISE and SSS). I feel like Franky was probably mistaken about Garden's true fuction and thus leading Twilight to error because in my opinion Garden is truly an indepent organization, something like vigilants. I also believe the shoppkepper used to be a part of the Ostanian Goverment (maybe the SSS because the Garden shares some similarities with it, tho it can just be a culture thing) but grew disillusioned with it, Matthew might be one, too. There's two thing tho that contrapoint my theory, the first is Matthew's advice to Yor in the Cruise Arc: "we are but soldiers to our country/ies" (the first time he says countries, the second country, this is interesting wording), and, while I couldn't verify, aparentently some SSS know about Garden. Due to these two things I've come to these conclusions: a) Garden is an independent organization formed by ex-SSS members, b) Garden is a small state agency loyal to the current prime minister, and has beef with the SSS c) Garden was originally a criminal organization. Garden's goal are to clean Ostanian from what it deems filfthy — as far as we know.
bonus: also somehow garden seemed to have target in the small town Yor lived in? Unless she was going out to the city everyday which in this case, girl, you're beeing exploiyed get a lawyer💀

Hmmm…
Looking at your fandoms, I can’t help but think some sort of Bingqiu in Spy X Family (or a SxF Xianxia fusion) could be super fun!
The question is… what would their roles be.
Assassin Luo Binghe, or spy Luo Binghe… and which of them gets gender swapped. 🤔
Oh!! Maybe Shen Yuan was meant to be an ally of the female half of the main duo, Liu Mingyan, but through shenanigans he somehow ends up with her role instead, and the System demands he fake marry Binghe anyway. 😂
This is exactly the kind of prompt i was hoping for! TY!!! 🙏
The way i see it Binghe would definitely be the assassin, Shen Yuan is too big of a softie not to mention one who so easily put on the mask of another man before so he would definitely be the spy.
But also being oblivious to feelings yet a capable badass, bad in the kitchen, feeling inadequate as a partner? All Shen Yuan. Binghe with his protagonist Halo meanwhile would fit better with Mr. All around perfect Husband. So i guess it'd be a little like Yor and Loyd had switched professions.
Shen Yuan's over protective brother in a position of power? I wonder who that would be? Enter Shen Jiu haha. Rather than secret police he'd be a detective looking in to all the murders rather than keeping state secrets from spies though. To keep that rivalry between him Binghe. The family member Binghe became an assassin to provide for? His mom. The gardener AKA the guy who hired him and hands him his missions? Meng Mo. Franky, the spy's funny informant and gadget supplier, occasional babysitter and not to mention bestfriend? Shang Qinghua.
I dont know if i should replace Fiona with Liu Quinge as Fiona's character really would fit Binghe better. But Liushen is a weakness of mine even if onesided and those two were just made for coworker romances. Maybe I should give Binge someone trying to woe him too? Sha hualing? Then if i dont go with your other idea of having SY transmigrate in to Liu Mingyan (which i am saving up in my head because i absolutely love the idea) then i can add something in the background with her and Sha hualing. I'm positive i could find a way to write in Mobei for SQH or i could go with Scumplane and have him end up Shen Jiu and actually yeah that would work, need to distract SJ long enough for Bingyuan to get it on afterall. Oh what about SQH x SJ x LQG? Or should Shen Yuan get a second husbandafterall? Alternatively imagine LQG crying over a bowl of icecream.
Next question is if SY didnt transmigrate into LMY then who is he? What about Ning Yingying? Who could be SJ's little sister in this world? Or he couldve just been put in there as a female version of himself. Or like it was with Shen quingiu a character who vaguely resembles him and has a similar name. She just happens to be a woman though. Or maybe go with the mulan aproach and have him crossdress? But then how does he explain to his brother that he's suddenly - he could say that he's in love with binghe and the only way to marry him was fake his papers to pretend to be a woman since queer marriage isnt yet allowed in their fictional country. Like no one cares if they date its just they havent gotten to the legalisation of marriage yet. And if SJ asks why they had to get married so suddenly anyway (cuz no way in hell is SY getting away with saying he forgot to tell him for a year) he could say that they had to so they could adopt their daughter. Who in this case scenario could be Ning Yingying, should she still have Anyas powers? damian could be Ming fan or the little palace girl or whatever (im not yet far enough in the books to now her and the old man that well so id have to check the wiki) and i could make the palace master donovan desmond and have SY and LBH team up to take him down in the end.
Anyways yeah these are just some ideas, and again thanks for the prompt! I can't wait to write this! Maybe i'll draw something for it later too. ❤️

Ranking SxF season 2 episodes!
So, some time ago I made a ranking of the season 1 episodes of Spy x Family, from my least favourite to my top favourite. I felt inspired a couple days ago and I thought I'd make a similar ranking of the season 2 episodes.
Mentioning again that: This is all my personal judgment heavily based on stuff I liked. You most certainly will disagree with me and that’s fine! Just don’t argue with me because that’s just personal opinions, I’m not trying to change anyone’s minds or prove anything!
And also: I chose to rank each episode by five criteria, the things I love the most about the show: 1) Humor (intentional or not), 2) Character (defining or cool moments and such) 3) Cute 4) Plot (how much development there is and how well the action is delivered) 5) Feels (of any kind).
#12, Least favourite of the season: 29. The Pastry of Knowledge/ The Informant's Great Romance Plan II
Tumblr media
Humor: 6/10 Character: 6/10 Cute: 7/10 Plot: 6/10 Feels: 5/10
I think this is the only episode that got points removed for something I didn't like. I made some very passionate posts about it when it first aired, particularly due to how after watching it I realized I'd been treated very unfairly by some fellow fans, and thus I'm almost incapable of rewatching the first half. Yes this is about Damian bullying Anya, no I won't shut up about it.
Anyway. This is still quite a high ranking (it's higher than the three lowest from my s1 ranking), cause the humor and the cats of the second part were quite entertaining on their own. It got a few points for plot because it introduced the stakes of Anya getting low grades, and also because of the discussion between Franky and Twilight about Garden.
#11: 36. Berlint in Love / Nightfall's Daily Life
Tumblr media
Humor: 9/10 Character: 6/10 Cute: 6/10 Plot: 5/10 Feels: 7/10
A very high humor score because I honestly doubt a single minute passed without me laughing my ass off in this one. It was so ridiculous and they loved making it so. Though having two wholly different parts, they were both fun in how they were around two characters blinded by their affection for Loid to the point they have no idea how hopeless their goals are. I just love how exaggerated it all is.
Some feels points were added for Yor talking about remembering what Loid had told her during the bench scene, and also because we get Loid being a stupid simp for his strong wife.
#10: 31. The Fearsome Luxury Cruise Ship
Tumblr media
Humor: 7/10 Character: 8/10 Cute: 6/10 Plot: 8/10 Feels: 6/10
Reminder that this is still a high ranking. I'm just being strict in the ratings because the entire season is so good, the bar is really high!
Anyway, though I like this episode, it feels more like a passing point from the previous one to the next, compared to those specific episodes, so that's probably why it's this low. I love how the assassins plot is kicked off and we get to see some action, and character points were added for McMahon's ruthless killing of the stalker assassin.
#9: 28. Mission and Family / The Elegant Bondman / Extras
Tumblr media
Humor: 6,5/10 Character: 9/10 Cute: 6/10 Plot: 9/10 Feels: 7/10
This is the first time I felt the need to use decimals, lol. I just feel that this episode is one of the darkest and most serious of the season, but also... Bondman's part was ridiculous (affectionate) and the omakes were great by themselves, so I felt that a mere six wouldn't do.
I'm honestly entranced by the first part. The plot and exploration of Yuri's and Perkin's characters were near damn perfect, I only wish there was a bit more beyond that episode, haha. I understand the focus needed to be in the Cruise Arc, so I feel a nine will do for this one. The feels were honestly added because I was a bit touched by Perkin's motives, and how those touched Yuri too.
#8: 30. Plan to Cross the Border
Tumblr media
Humor: 8/10 Character: 9/10 Cute: 7/10 Plot: 7/10 Feels: 7/10
The Shopkeeper's introduction was amazing, albeit terrifying. Olka's was a little more subdued, but it was more touching. I felt both also reflected on something about Yor, so it was overall very satisfying. Due to so many introductions, plot was light (not that I minded), but Anya's scheming put up points in humor and cute. Feels points were added for Olka wanting to escape the crime underworld, and how that affected Yor.
#7: 32. Who Is This Mission For?
Tumblr media
Humor: 8/10 Character: 8/10 Cute: 8/10 Plot: 6/10 Feels: 8/10
I'd spent the entire week before this episode aired wondering how Yor would manage fighting Barnaby, and even though I should be used to the story's wackiness by now, it still managed to surprise me and make me laugh. Also Loid will never outlive his ridiculous tourist getup. Anya was an adorable little gremlin who couldn't stop having fun, so cute points went up, and Loid managed to spend one (1) episode without going "For the mission!" once, so character and feels points went up as well.
#6: 26. Follow Papa and Mama
Tumblr media
Humor: 9/10 Character: 7/10 Cute: 8/10 Plot: 6/10 Feels: 8/10
To be honest, I think I'm a bit strict with this one. I don't know how this story manages to make miscommunication so funny for me, but it was legitimately hilarious. The thing is, this was the only episode of the season whose manga chapter I'd already read, long ago too, and maybe my expectations for its adaptation were unrealistically high - probably also due to it being the season premiere and I'd spent ten months without my show, so I'm probably biased. Mind you, I still loved it, but this further cements my will to stay anime only.
Anyway! Character points went a bit down because I didn't feel we saw anything new, but the cute and feels persisted because of Anya's machinations and because of Yor admitting how good she felt with Loid dedicating time for her that day.
#5: 34. The Hand That Connects to the Future
Tumblr media
Humor: 8/10 Character: 7/10 Cute: 8/10 Plot: 8/10 Feels: 8/10
A lovely, hopeful closure for Olka and the rest, Yor getting the acknowledgement she deserves, a spectacular ending of the assassins fight, high stakes with the bomb threats, and an emotional ending scene with Twilight carrying Anya to bed and then the family getting ready to meet in the resort island. Not much else to be said <3
#4: 35. Enjoy the Resort to the Fullest / Bragging About Vacation
Tumblr media
Humor: 9/10 Character: 7/10 Cute: 9/10 Plot: 6/10 Feels: 9/10
No, I'm definitely not biased because this episode shows us the first glimpse of Twilight yearning for Yor what are you talking about.
Who am I kidding, I definitely added feels points just for that look he gave her while she watched Anya play with the sheep. The whole episode felt so relaxing and fulfilling after the intense assassins plot, especially the scene of the Forgers having tea upon returning home, that I don't mind that the second part at school feels a little exaggerated. The ending scene with Anya being surrounded by liars though is top notch.
#3: 27. Bond's Strategy to Stay Alive / Damian's Field Research Trip
Tumblr media
Humor: 9/10 Character: 8/10 Cute: 8/10 Plot: 7/10 Feels: 9/10
Endo used Dog Cuteness! It's super effective!
Yeah, the whole adventure and the way it was presented were appropriately hilarious and we saw some more of the dynamics between Bond and the rest and I really liked that. Plot wasn't heavy but I was all wide eyes at the introduction of a truth serum, and at the second part when Mr. Green talked about people defecting to the West. Feels went up thanks to, among others, Twilight thinking he was helping Bond get his "revenge". Also, though the second part didn't do much for me, it actually felt nice to see Damian laugh innocently like the kid he really is.
#2: 37. Part of the Family
Tumblr media
Humor: 8/10 Character: 8/10 Cute: 9/10 Plot: 8/10 Feels: 9/10
Despite the mopping wet of a dog we got here, I kinda felt this was less... humorous, or at least not focusing so much on the humor aspect. I felt it was more cute and emotional that Bond was just trying to help left and right but was only misunderstood by Twilight. The action takes the place of a plot here, and I loved it all. Some development too through Twilight realizing he can relax a bit with Bond, even though he's still in denialTM about how much he appreciates his company.
#1: 33. The Symphony Upon the Ship / Sis's Herb Tea
Tumblr media
Humor: 8/10 Character: 10/10 Cute: 7/10 Plot: 9/10 Feels: 10/10
Yeah OH MY GOD are we surprised. Top tier shit. Excellent balance of pretty much everything in this one. The humor even in the way Yor took out some of the assassins. Her flashbacks with Yuri. The ACTION and the ANIMATION of it all. HER REALIZATION AND DETERMINATION POWERING HER THROUGH. HER LOVE FOR HER FAMILY.
Yeah wow it's really so good any eloquence evades me. Perfect. Mwah. Thank you Endo-sensei.
~

1. Operation Strix
    2. Secure A Wife
    33. The Symphony Upon The Ship / Sis's Herb Tea

Please may I have a Spy x family headcanons platonic of being the biological son of Yor Briar and his name is Yukio Briar and then Yukio Forger age 8..Yukio means "Snow boy" in Japanese and Yor was 18 when she realised that she was pregnant with her son when she lost her boyfriend in an accident. Yukio Briar is an assassin but he uses less bloody methods and one of them is poisoning his targets food by lacing it with a highly toxic chemical which has immediate effects or he kills them from afar with his guns or he does kill them with the same methods as his mother if neither of his other options work and his nickname is "the Poison Rose" by the "gardener". He joined the Eden academy in sake of helping Loid complete his mission and hopefully befriend Damian with no issues. He was certainly not a weak child and considering how he had hospitalised his uncle Yuri for several months after breaking his ribs and ruptured several of his internal organs and breaking both of his legs..it took a while for Yuri to recover.
Personality:
He always had top grades in every class as he did study properly and he can cook properly and does do better at it with no issues and no. He doesn't poison the family..only his targets. He is a good actor as he showed a innocent naivety and gullible facade when he ran into his targets so they didn't know his intentions and he does catch them off guard. He is greatly immune to poisons as he had eaten his mother's nasty cooking in the past and he had eaten so many that he didn't really care anymore. He is genuinely a nice kid and he is a lovely little boy with a kind-hearted nature and it is rare for him to actually shout or get angry as he is level-headed but once was frightening enough..when a mother loudly criticised his mother's parenting skills to her friends and he naturally lost his temper and stood up for his mother when he insulted this lady about her weight, her friends, her hair and her entire existence and the vicious insults and the colourful words kept on flowing and he could not stop himself and then he said "you are a mean lady if you think that insulting my mother boosts your ego..no wonder why your son wanted to live with his Dad instead!" Was his words..the lady actually got up crying and left. He can be scary when he was being intimidating and his scary assassin gaze matches his mother's. He did have poor art-skills as it was not his strong point and it looks like a toddler had done it and he was bad at it anyway or he had the ability to give people nightmares with his unsettling drawings. He was empathetic though in a way and he tried to help Anya with her homework to make it easier for her.
Skills:
He is highly intelligent and he had a 6th Sense when it comes to danger as he is a skillful fighter with the ability to fight with no issues..Loid even struggled to keep up. Yukio is capable of breaking bones and killing people if so inclined. He had inhuman strength in a way and considering how he is able to split a brick in half..don't pick a fight with him or play football with him. He is immune to poisons of different kinds and he is a good cook and he can frighten the absolute hell out of his targets when he says "wanna play?" Which was the exact opposite of his mother politely saying "can you do me the honour of taking your life?"..but Yukio does try to be careful with his strength off-duty and he may be a kid but he was certainly a skillful assassin
Apparance: *Exactly like in the photograph and he did have to wear glasses due to poor eyesight * and he doesn't look like his mom..he looks like his late father with his moles and blue eyes. He mostly wore a red cardigan with a black t-shirt underneath with black shorts and brown patient shoes off-duty. He wore similar clothing to his mother on duty.
Relationships:
Loid Forger's relationship with his "son"
Yor Briar's relationship with her son
Anya's relationship with her "big brother"
Bond's relationship with his owner
Damian's relationship with Yukio Forger *he did accidentally punch Damian on first meeting and the kid ended up hospitalised with a broken jaw for several days*
Becky Blackbell's relationship with Anya's "big brother"
Yuri's relationship with his nephew
The gardener's relationship with his skillful assassin
One other thing about him:
Yor doesn't know that her son is an assassin..he expressed his wishes to the gardener for him to keep it a secret for his sake.
Tumblr media
*That's Yukio Briar..Yor's biological son and the hand on his head probably belongs to a teacher*
Wow, first OC request! I’ll probably just do a mini fic with just the family and their daily routine…. I like the idea of him eating Yor’s food so calmly meanwhile Anya and Loid are just on the ground like:
Tumblr media
I’ll also add in the mission. I’m sorry if I read anything wrong and this is not the request but I will try my best to add all the information given.
Thanks for the request!
The mini fic will be added with the headcannons, don’t worry.

Actual Review
The Hall:
The hall was enormous, and my seat had a good view of the stage. It was very comfortable and it didn't feel as if you were sitting for a few hours because you were too focused on the musical itself. The hall was of course full of people raging from young to old. I even supported a small Anya cosplayer. She was "tots adorbs".
The Musical:
This was my first time going to a musical and I was excited. It was separated into two acts and the transitions were very organic.
The Set:
The set was amazing. From rotating buildings to actual screens that contributed to the set. The screens were used to introduce characters, and to show us the infamous animal scene from the beloved source material. They were also used to show us the spy dialogue between Loid and Fiona and to introduce Sylvia. Special mention goes to the one screen that popped up a few times with the face of Donovan Desmond. (He looked like an Italian Mafia Boss.)
ACT 1:
Act 1 started with the instruction of the Handler and Loid. I was instantly mesmerized by Handler's voice. Not only was it similar to the anime voice actress but also it was so melodic. Hander's voice stuck in my head. It was that good. After that, we got the song of Twilight. I would like to mention that we got the infamous rumble chair from the manga and small [Redacted]. Some of the chairs from the covers do appear in the musical like Yor's Red chair. It was a small detail but it really struck me how much they incorporated it into the musical. Suzuki-san played his Loid role so well that I thought it was Loid. And his singing voice was great. He has a rich and deep voice.
Here is where I want I want to talk about how they presented their inner thoughts. They used the lighting to paint a soft dark bluish light to the others and point the white projector to the one who was having an inner thought. Sometimes characters would even do weird actions that we perceive as things in their head.
After we were introduced to Loid we were shown how Operation Strixxx came into action. The iconic “You need to find a child in a few days” line was included. Unlike in the manga, the whole talk about Operation Strixxx was between Sylvia and Loid.
The scenes flowed really nicely into one another. After that, we had a song about how Anya and Loid met one another. Anya’s actress was adorable. She captivated the character well in speech and mannerisms. She was neutral on the stage.
When Anya got kidnapped I liked how Loid’s disguise was played by another actor but we saw Loid next to him which indicated we saw his brain process too.
Also, a cute moment happened when Anya was singing about herself, about things she liked and disliked and then she said: And my favourite thing…chichi. It was so cute I could melt.
It was interesting that Eden got its song performed by Sylvia and Henderson. Their voices matched well. 95% was just singing and dancing and it was glorious.
After Anya’s successful exam, we sadly didn’t see Kento Kinouchi become a Female Franky but we saw how Franky was becoming a good uncle. When Loid went to get the stolen papers about the single females after he left Franky kicked the chair in annoyance and it was one of the funniest things I have seen. Kento brought the character to life. Goated performance.
One of the cutest scenes in this arc was Loid passing out after seeing that Anya passed and instead of laying on the ground, we saw him laying on the sofa as the scene moved flawlessly to the mailman coming and realizing Anya has no mama.
Yor appeared before the meeting of course. Kudos to the actresses playing the Horrible trio, this is the 3rd dimension where I don’t like those characters (actresses did great). There was a nice scene of Yor calling Yuri and we saw him striking his head out of the window (RED CHAIR APPEARANCE).
Yor meeting Anya and Loid was magical. The singing, the lil gremlin pulling the strings, the background music. I loved it.
They managed to combine the fighting scene with the party well. I like that we even got to see the car, even though it blinded me.
The proposal was perfect too. I like how the Hermes Bag Yor has made an appearance and after the party, Loid took Yor’s coat and then carried her bag. Precious.
The “ooting” scenes were so well made too. You could feel Loid’s desperation in his voice. Granny came to the rescue tho when she called them a “Wonderful family”.
After that, we had a wonderful song about the SSS. While they were singing about protecting their county, Yuri was singing about the fact that his sister didn’t tell him about her marriage. The song was kino tho.
Act 1 ends before the big interview.
ACT 2:
Act 2 started with a Sylvia song. I stan. Her voice is amazing and we need more Handler songs. We were introduced to the scene with Sylvia’s new jacket and Loid telling her about Anya’a achievements. The execution was on par with the anime.
The highlight of this act was the Eden Interview. I loved Henderson’s performance. It was truly elegant. And yes they did change clothes in 5 seconds it is possible. The interview was following the anime and it was really satisfying to see prof. Henderson punch the “swine” in real life. I wish I could rewind and see it again. Anya’s answers were really cute and the whole theatre was politely laughing (this is Japan after all). Another cool thing was that after we saw Yor thoughts about killing someone so Anya can move up on the Eden waiting list.
Did I mention how surprised I was when I saw the cow on stage? The cow deserves better honesty. I want to compliment Yor’s actress (or the double) for performing gymnastic tricks for us. We were as surprised as Loid.
Yuri coming to the Folgers was another peak event. I loved the whole scene. Especially Yuri calling Loid “LOTTIIEEEEE”. How dare Lottie and Yor try to kiss!? Unforgivable! It was hilarious when Yor was saying: “I forgot to tell you” and “I must have forgotten that I forgot” or something like this, Loid dropped not 1 but 2 plates. The shocked expression of Loid was worth spending money on the musical.
After that, we saw the real MVP of the show, no not Franky, but Bondman. Yeah, Bondman came out of the tiny screen for us. He managed to save Princess Honey.
Coincidently after Yuri fiasco, we were introduced to Fiona. It is the same as in the manga but it was funny to see the following convo:
>You should conceal your emotions
>So I should have a poker face all the time
>That’s not what I meant
Fiona’s actress was wonderful. I loved her performance. Fiona singing about how much she loves Loid was a bit weird. “Senpai SUKIIIIIIII” appeared and it was executed perfectly. The scene with Anya saying how much she loves Yor was adorable.
The act’s ending was shifted to the castle episode. Franky being an instigator was amazing especially when he tried to talk like Anya. We got to see a really neat fight between Yorticia and Loid. Evil Franky was precious.
The musical ended with the grand final performance, a song mirroring the opening one about “Phase 2” (Phase 2 of Operation Strixxx that is). Everyone joined it and it was so good. Kudos to all singers, back performers and the orchestra. They all did an amazing job. The whole musical was one of a kind. It was amazing and I had really good time.

Ok miscellaneous spy x family foreshadowing/stuff I’ve noticed/theories bc I’m hyperfixated
*note for manga spoilers
1- since Twilight was secretly in the team that was going to raid the bus- Anya has now saved twilight from a bomb three times. This pattern is very scary to me. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. I think something very bad is going to happen with a bomb and someone will get hurt. Although I’m not positive which member of the forger family will be the one to get hurt bc you can make an argument for all of them
2- one of the first ways both Loid and Yor bonded with Anya was by saving her from a kidnapping attempt. Plus she literally escaped from an evil lab. This girl is 10000% getting kidnapped at least 1 more time and saved by the both of them working together. I wouldn’t be super surprised if she gets kidnapped a couple more times actually.
But like twilight and thorn princess working together to save Anya from the labs is just such a monumental thing. I don’t think it’d be like the very last thing to happen but it feels like a huge climactic deal that can be used a ton of different ways in the story. Ie could be used to bring them back together if the identity reveal makes them break up, could be used as a way to solidify Loid and Yor in their identities as parents, could be used to prove to Anya this family isn’t going anywhere despite what her abandonment issues might think. Just to name a few.
3- Anya’s experiment name was 007. James Bond is agent 007 (double-0 7). I haven’t seen anyone else mention this before and just wanted to point it out
4- both WISE and Garden are complex and flawed systems. Both think they’re going for what’s best but ultimately I think both Yor and Loid will have to turn against their respective organizations and choose their family. Especially twilight I think that him going against WISE and choosing Anya will be the culmination of his character arc
4.5- I also think others like Handler, Shopkeeper, Yuri, Franky, and Fiona will be put in similar situations but I’m not as positive on what they’ll choose.
5- twilight will eventually drop the name twilight and fully adopt the persona of Loid forger as his true self and name. He’s said many times before he gave up his identity and his personal ambitions when he became twilight. In his mind his ability to have a family is directly connected to his identity, or lack there of. In his mind He can’t be a father bc twilight isn’t a real person, just a spy and a martyr. So even if he remains a spy and keeps the code name I think eventually he will accept Loid forger as his true self - alone with the family that comes with that name
5.5- another reason I think he’s going to like shift and adopt Loid as his true name or whatever is bc his whole character arc is about duality and fighting between the two sides of himself. The word twilight literally means the time between day and night. When he’s no longer fighting between the two sides of himself why would he still identify the name that represents that battle as his true name?
5.6- also also when I say he accepts the Loid forger persona I don’t mean like he just no longer considers himself a spy or anything. He’s already accepted that he’s a spy, he hasn’t accepted that he’s also a father. When he does accept the Loid part of him he’ll be a mix of both. And the name Loid means grey, which is a mix of black and white. Symbolism and all that

My thoughts on Spy x Family — tropes and subversions
(This is all just my opinion) The reason I got sucked into the manga in the first place was because I liked the tropes it advertised (fake marriage, spies, secret identities) and boy did it deliver. However, while the characters might appear to have common tropes, some of the tropes are also subverted, which makes the characters refreshing without losing familiarity, if it makes sense?
The Forgers are a parody of the quintessential nuclear family: a father, a mother, a child, and their pet (most commonly a loyal dog). Instead of introducing all components of said nuclear family in one go, the manga does it one by one— first Loid-Anya, then Loid-Yor and Yor-Anya, then Bond-Anya, and then Bond-Loid/Yor. This gives each character / dynamic its own place to shine so the readers can watch their bonds develop naturally.
Loid and Yor are both typical and atypical. Loid is a classic spy with good looks, possesses many talents, operates coolly and efficiently etc etc. However, he is also a classic “family man” who clearly cares for his family. He even has the trope of thinking childcare is the most difficult thing in the world, and he absolutely cannot understand Anya (typical fatherhood lmao). While Twilight may appear to be cold and emotionless (reinforced through Fiona’s perception of Twilight the spy vs Loid the father that readers are used to seeing), readers can see when he slips up. An example is the scene when Yor gets drunk and Loid falls unconscious in front of her, then wakes up on her lap. When faced with the idea of Yor liking him romantically, Loid looked shocked before instantly activating his Twilight mode. Loid was also very stunned by how easily he fell asleep around Yor. A flustered Loid is rare, but it’s the little scenes that add depth to his character.
Yor again has several tropes condensed in one character: the caring housewife, badass assassin, the clumsy, well-meaning, almost “comic relief” character etc etc. Yor’s irrationality acts as a foil to Loid’s rationality. Personally Yor is a refreshing character because while she can be violent and badass, she is also somewhat of a dork (seen as when she was like “oh noo I jammed my finger :c” after she killed a bunch of people). Yor acts as the housewife but her horrendous cooking is a running joke. She is freakishly strong, but also embarrassed about it at the same time. Yor might be committed to her job, but she also shows a sensitive and “normal housewife side” of being afraid of “not being good enough for Loid”. The different sides of her work together perfectly.
Influenced by the famous Mr and Mrs Smith, people would probably expect the two to be working against each other in secret while falling in love. WISE and the Garden are not direct enemies, and this trope is used for Loid and Yuri instead. We don’t get the “lovers feuding in secret”, but we get the “brothers-in-law from rival factions have to act nice in front of the sister/wife”, which is arguably a refreshing twist on this trope. This also adds to the trope of “concerned brother thinks husband is not good enough for his precious sister” as Yuri is fighting against Loid as both a brother and a SSS officer. Yuri falls into the trope of “younger brother who loves his sister a little too much”, plus he and Yor have the “smart younger kid / klutz older sibling” dynamic. However, Yuri is also shown to be an intelligent man who is dedicated to his SSS work, showing he is not as “dumb” and “Yor-obsessed” as he might seem.
Fiona is similar to Yuri in the sense she also embodies tropes of “cool emotionless character” (rationality as a foil to Yor’s irrationality) “in love with male lead” and “determined love rival”. What makes her refreshing is that by the end of her first appearance, Fiona has acknowledged Yor is superior and has a respect for her, while Yor is completely clueless about it. What could’ve turned into a petty catfight or dramatic love triangle just… never happened. (Or at least it was just one sided rivalry). Fiona knew she had lost and left. Also, Fiona’s passion for Loid is in direct contradiction to how she usually behaves like, which adds a new side of her and is quite funny.
You can also do this with the kids. I really adore Anya's character because she was an abused kid who was experimented on and gained superpowers. One would expect a character like her to be withdrawn and stoic, but she's the opposite of that. Anya is bold, fearless and curious. While Anya is clingy and has abandonment issues, she isn't shy either and isn't afraid to throw temper tantrums (even though that might anger her parents). Anya is simultaneously smart and dumb- she is very witty, has street smarts, and quite perceptive of her surroundings. However, she is shown to be struggling academically (probably because she's learning things 1/2 years above her level) and jumps to unrealistic conclusions (eg. helping Damian would immediately save the world). Lots of other mind-reading children would be tortured by the thoughts of others and end up being really mature and intelligent. Anya, however, acts like her age. She subverts the trope of "abandoned kid finds new family" "experimented child escapes from facility" but also fits right in the trope of "hilariously blunt comic relief child" and "matchmaker kid".
Reader's first impression of Becky (polished, cutesy rich girl with recognisable design) is that she'll either be 1) Anya's best friend or 2) the Mean Girl. Initially, we lean towards the latter. Becky snubbed Anya and Anya didn't care much about her. However, the "Mean Boy" role is very quickly filled in by Damian and co, then Anya punches Damian (in defence of Becky). Becky instantly transforms from "rich girl looking down on commoner girl" to the "best friend who is a huge romantic" trope. Then we receive a glimpse into Becky's backstory of how she struggled to make friends, and how she latched onto Anya. Readers already know Anya just wants to be loved and feels slightly misplaced in the upper-class Eden circle, so she also latches onto Becky. Their friendship may have developed quickly, but it's realistic for 5/6yos. Their friendship is continuously reinforced, with Becky somewhat acting as a "guide" to Eden and the upper class. Becky also supports Anya in her crazy schemes to get Damian's attention.
Damian again is full of tropes. He's the "tsundere bully" "rich, spoiled, smart kid" "second son syndrome / just wants Father to notice him" aka. a mini Draco Malfoy. Compared to everyone else, Damian is possibly one of the most typical characters. He has major daddy / older brother issues. He's spoiled, but he has a crush on Anya, so he alternates between acting like a jerk and being nice. He's in constant denial about his feelings. He is academically talented. He's like a baby version of a typical 2000s shojou manga "rich tsundere boy" love interest. However, what helped to characterise him is that chapter when he and his buddies went on that field trip. There, we see Damian without the context of both his father and Anya (aka. main plot characters). He's just a kid, having fun with his friends, being scared of worms, etc etc. This makes him more likeable.
Another note about Damian and Anya is that Damian embodies the very, very classic trope of "boy has feelings for girl but doesn't know how to deal with them so he bullies her!!". And the boy's crush justifies the bullying somehow. However, that is cleverly dealt with in the manga. Yes, Damian has a crush. No, his mean actions aren't justified. Multiple characters call him out whenever he's being a jerk, from Anya, Becky, teachers, to random classmates (eg. a girl during the arts and crafts chapter was concerned when Damian made Anya cry). Nobody says "boys will be boys" or something. Bullying is not romanticised. In latter chapters, you can see that Damian actually isn't as mean towards Anya, and most of the insults are said by his goons. (Damian doesn't stop them, thus making him a bystander, but also I don't expect much from a literal 6yo spoiled kid) There is some slight and slow character development. However, Damian's character is built on the fact that he switches between "modes" quickly (concerned mode for Anya, spoiled brat mode due to his upbringing, obedient son mode because his father doesn't care), so even though it might appear that he hasn't changed because he is still constantly switching being mean and nice, I personally feel like he has matured slightly. I was very relieved when for ONCE the good ole crush/bullying trope isn't heavily romanticised by the manga and its characters.
As a last point about Anya, I think her mind reading powers acts as an excellent plot device to help readers know more about the thoughts of characters. Usually this is delivered in the form of monologues, but Anya's live reaction/ commentary to said monologues (live Anya reaction anybody?) makes it funnier and more interesting. We can visibly see Anya's shock when character tropes get subverted (eg. Fiona declaring her love for Twilight while putting on an emotionless facade, Damian suddenly being "not a jerk").
I do really enjoy the character design and the first impressions we get, only for said impressions to be somewhat subverted. When characters show their different sides, it's usually quite funny but it also makes sense. In my opinion the characters (or at least the main cast) in SxF are all charming and memorable.

SxF · Chapter 56 · · · Family Vacation
I have been analyzing some chapters of the Spy x Family manga, because it seems to me that it has very interesting details to interpret. I clarified that these analyzes are made from my own point of view, so you are free to have a different opinion. I am based on the content of the manga, and much of what I say here are theories and reflections. And being a story that is in print, events can change and contradict each other. With that said, let's get started.
This is possibly one of the most beloved chapters by fans, for giving us the Forger family vacations. At the beginning of the chapter, we can see our dear Anya excited by the arrival on the tourist island.
Tumblr media
Like the daughter, like the father!
The best thing about this is that we can appreciate the abilities of the Starlight agent Anya to observe, analyze and find the weak point of the Twilight agent, and apply a complex manipulation strategy. Apparently the telepath has learned very well from her own father. So the king of lies and manipulations has just been manipulated for his own 6 (4 year old) daughter.
Anya: Papa's so easy!
Tumblr media
I love Twilight's blush of embarrassment!
Yor finally manages to reunite with her family, and enjoy her short vacation with her husband and daughter. Having fun and somewhat...dangerous moments
Tumblr media
At the end of the chapter there are MANY to highlight
1 · Mutual purpose:
Something important in this arc is how Yoru's conflict is presented to us as she has to make an inevitable choice between her job and her fake family. Although the Forger family started as a cover to be an assassin. With the passing of time, Yoru has realized the happiness that being part of a family gives her. That is why now, having a Shopkeeper position with a higher level of demand and danger than she is used to makes her realize that sooner or later she will have to question what her true priority is. Leading Yor to question "what is his true purpose?"
Interestingly, when Yor has talked (subtly) about his work with Twilight. We notice how indirectly he is attracted by those words. It's as if Yor has the ability to express what Twilight can't admit in front of them for fear of revealing his identity and opening up emotionally. So it could be said that it is a scene where they share a special bond, despite the fact that they do not know it.
I don't know if you remember, but before, we have already seen a similar scene. In chapter 3, which in my opinion, makes a certain parallel with this chapter.
Tumblr media
In both scenes Yor indirectly speaks of her own job perspective. And although she had to lie during the cruise so that Loid would not find out that she was in a battle between assassins. She can't hide his look of genuine satisfaction.
When we look at the initial Yoru, and do a retrospective of the arc in the cruise. We see the clear contrast between the motivations and the desires that being a murderer represents. Apparently, while Yuri was growing up and began to be economically independent from Yoru. She began to lose the sense of her work. But she doesn't seem to want to admit this. So she began to depend on her job to feel that she was good at something. Yor has always felt out of place with the world around her, and although she looks naive and somewhat clueless, she was aware of how unusual it can be, so the idea of aspiring to a normal life would be impossible. This obvious insurance gap is the reason she became exhausted from her job and even lost.
But after this battle against the rival group of assassins, Yor began to understand that she became an assassin because she has a valued value to protect- The peaceful life!
It's interesting how Yor's perspective on her work evolves as the story progresses, and while Yor still has a lot to learn, it's clear that something has changed. We know that the reason behind Yor's assassination job was to ensure Yuri's future. She doesn't really care about the political background or ideals that Garden (or other organizations have), she just wants Yuri and innocent people to have a quiet life. Even if it means she never has one
When Yor started to wonder about "being a murderer is more important than having a fake family" is when Yor loses her own center at times, not knowing what is really important to her.
It's great, to see how in the end she understands that both aspects are important, they are part of her, and one motivates the other. Yor understood that she fights to defend something "that she believes in" and wants to protect, even if she needs to dirty her own hands, and even if she must risk losing the Forger Family. But that sacrifice will be worth it as long as she can ensure that there is a peaceful world for Yuri, Loid, Anya and Bond. (Although she does not know his secrets). It will annihilate those people who want to get rich at the cost of causing another war that will take away the happiness of the most precious thing.
Tumblr media
The family is more important than being a murderer, but she will continue to be a murderer to protect this family.
Yor's satisfaction in finding "balance" and "meaning" in her work is felt in this scene. Killing or making money is not his purpose, nor his motivation, it is the joy that comes from seeing Anya and Loid being happy, and seeing Yuri grow much more as a professional every day. And she wants to make the most of this even if the day comes when she has to part with them.
. . . .
On the other hand is Twilight....
It's funny how Twilight had this time the supporting role during a battle. Since generally this is Yoru's role in other arcs. Even so, there are very subtle but very relevant details in it:
In previous posts I talked about how Twilight's look was an indication of when her emotions are real.
They are those small, almost imperceptible spaces where he becomes sincere even if he doesn't realize it. Curiously, these moments occur frequently when he is with his family, in fact, many of these looks have been when Yor is together. Quite possibly, these events are due to the way in which both identify.
Yor and Twilight come from very opposite circumstances, developing different personalities. But, the way they come to find their own reflection in the other. And this is what allows that when one exposes an honest and authentic side, the other can understand it perfectly and share it.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in mission 3, Yor talks about "seeing other people makes her think about how her work contributes to their lives", while Twilight absently watches a group of children. Which coincides perfectly with Twilight's purpose of "a world where children don't cry", the happiness of the most defenseless has been the first motivator for Twilight to continue in his purpose in the same way as Yor. For this spy and assassin, their only reward has been to see the indirect results of their work, accepting that no one can know the truth of what they do.
Tumblr media
It's similar to this time Twilight looking at Yor, because he too wants this peaceful life to endure in time.
But being more personal:
The Strix mission has allowed the two of them to experience "this happiness". A simple, quiet life, but full of valuable moments, what is special is not what they "do" but the people you are with.
While Yor seems to accept her fake family as something real and special to her, becoming one of the reasons why she must continue fighting in order to give her family a better world. It shows that although both are lying, and using each other. The reasons why he does that is because of the genuine desire to give the other a better life.
And while Twilight tries to appear immune to these feelings, scenes like the one below prove otherwise.
Later, we see one of the scenes most adored by us fans and that is to see Yor fall asleep on the shoulder of her fake husband due to the exhaustion she carries from so many days of endless battle.
Tumblr media
Your whole world is in your hands, Twilight!
I think it's important to point out how Twilight and Yor never downplay each other's work, despite having no idea of their true professions. Yor believes that Loid is a psychiatrist, but he always notices how tired it is for Loid to get home from work and still fulfill household duties, and the stress he shows in his whole body.
Tumblr media
But in this arc, we appreciate how Twilight feels that Yor's work is difficult, exhausting, (and that she clearly misses her), respects her time, believing that she is just a city hall official. And the smile of pride and appreciation when seeing, that despite being close to giving up due to fatigue, she dedicated her whole day to sharing with Anya. This smile is not an obligation, he is not playing the role of "the good husband" in front of anyone. There is no reason to think about Yor at that moment. But he does it because he wants to
It is clear that when both disconnect from their work and allow themselves to enjoy the moment. They both feel happy, comfortable and connected to each other. Both recognize and respect each other, although they are unaware of the true sacrifices they make on a daily basis.
My reflections…
I think the most remarkable thing in these chapters is how Endo makes the aspector more aware of all the ties that unite the Forgers, and the authenticity of their feelings and their constant process of learning and exploration. Convincing us that they are a true family when they are united. But, in each Forger's individual perspective, they remain trapped within their own bubble of lies. Feeling alone, misunderstood, carrying their own weight. Although lies are the reason they are together, it is also what separates them. Because no one realizes that everything they need, they already found
Although I have seen people think that Yoru has not evolved at all despite this arc. I disagree with this idea: Yuro remains insecure about her role as mother and wife. In addition to the way it unfolds with the outside world. And although her nature is to be shy, nervous and sweet. She has clearly grown. This arc dealt with Yoru's "motivation" and the relationship that exists between her work and her family. Conflict that came to a teaching. Therefore, Yor is more motivated to continue with her aspirations. I think that her fear as a mother and wife is a topic that will be taken up again in the future.
I am glad that Yor understands the risks of being a murderer, and although she feels that in the future she can stop belonging to the Forgers, that does not limit her from making the most of her stay in the family and above all that this should not limit her own aspirations.
I think that Yor, step by step, must understand that she must not give her actions to others. Clearly, Garden (in antithesis to WISE) taught Yor to act without questioning anything, to only obey, and this would bring him benefit (money to raise her brother, and create a supposedly better world). She must understand that she must fight for her own desire and motivation, and not depend solely on Yuri, the Forgers and especially Garden. Each aspect is important and part of her life, she must create her own criteria and set her own limits, and with it, begin to trust herself. But this will surely be something he learns over time as future arcs go by. (Especially with the appearance of Melinda)
Also....
Twilight and Yor are not enemies, regardless of what their organizations think. They pursue the same goal, and are willing to make the same sacrifices. But also, they both yearn deep down for the love that was taken from them (the love of a family), a love that accepts you and motivates you to improve.
And if at some point in the story, they become openly on opposite sides: It's not because they're bad guys, villains or enemies. It will be due to prejudices, misunderstandings and fear that cause this conflict that may or may not occur (depending on the circumstances), caused by the truth that they do not know.
But it is evident that sooner or later, they will have to realize that in reality they both want the same thing: peace… a quiet life, and to see the smile on Anya's face.
.
.
.
I liked to analyze this chapter, because after chapter 66 perhaps for many we feel that the Forger's relationship will go down the wrong path. But I feel that seeing these chapters, we see that this false family will have to face changes, new obstacles to get stronger.
And although the truth seems painful and difficult to cope with at first, it can also be the cause for the Forger Family to become real in the future.
Special thanks to @yuushin7 for suggesting this review. I loved making it, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it.
Although, this chapter has a bit of a confusing scene for readers who depend on translations, as it is not very clear "who is really" speaking. (@tare-chan made a clarification confirming that Yor is the one monologuing)
I appreciate your comments and opinions, and if you have a chapter as a suggestion, I would also like it :D

Now that I’ve caught up with the Spy x Family manga,
Some questions and predictions:
-so does Garden not side with the Secret State Service? The shopkeeper must know about their existence and Yor looking suspicious for being single wouldn’t be a problem because then he can just tell the SSS to leave Yor alone since she’s part of them. Seems like they’re trying to keep peace within the country and trying not to provoke another war with the West so they might actually side with WISE???
Tumblr media
-does the Garden not target Twilight? Do they not know about him? I feel like they would have known about him and if they see WISE as a threat they wouldn’t have let Yor be his fake wife. It would be interesting to see the Shopkeeper interact with Loid. And McMahon with Loid.
-And doesn’t the Garden know that Yuri works for the SSS?
-I think Fiona would be the first one to find out that Anya was a test subject of a certain organization and a telepath. Anya might try to stop her from telling Loid about it
-so since Yor lost her parents at a young age and didn’t want to be put in foster care and be separated from her brother, the Shopkeeper must have decided to help her out by hiring her and hiding details about them so the police wouldn’t separate them. It would be interesting to see a flashback of Yor’s childhood but hopefully in a way of her telling Loid
-since Matthew McMahon is the policy director of City Hall and considering as skilled as he is in sensing enemies on the hunt for Olka, he must have known that Franky copied all the files of single women working there and he might have known that it was because Twilight is looking for a fake wife for Operation Strix. McMahon didn’t tell Yor about this so she wouldn’t blow Twilight’s cover but the Garden has the similar goal with WISE in stopping any war. Hence why during the cruise arc he wouldn’t call Yor by her codename Thorn Princess, but refer to her as “Mrs. Forger,” even when they’re just alone with Olka and Mr. Grey
-Maybe Matthew McMahon is Twilight’s father? (Ok most likely not but it’s kinda funny to think about it)
-this was definitely interesting from ch. 66

Obviously we the audience know that Loid just lied about being interested in the National Unity Party because he’s trying to stop the war that Desmond is plotting but it seems here that the Shopkeeer might think of targeting Loid if he decides to have ties with the National Unity Party. But I feel like the Garden has a very reliable information network so the Shopkeeper might eventually find out Twilight’s real plans about Desmond and might want to side with him and WISE.
- it seems like Edgar from ch. 1/episode 1 and the Garden have different definitions of traitors:

- when Yor marries Loid for real her new codename should be “Thorn Queen” since she’s marrying the King of spies haha!!!

I thought I responded to this but I didn't. RIP. Garden hiring Yor at a young age makes quite a good deal of sense, especially if you view them as amoral (though not necessarily evil in the traditional sense of that word). A younger person is easier to manipulate, especially in a desperate situation like the possibility of starvation like what Yor and Yuri were faced with after the death of their mother. Breaking ingrained morals that Yor might've learned at an early age too was probably somewhat easier given that children's brains are still developing as well. As for why orphans are appealing, well, who are they going to turn to? We know that the state effectively left a good chunk of its citizens to fend for themselves or at least couldn't coordinate relief efforts to parts of the country where some of the characters we've met have lived. The Gretcher family got its start in the criminal underworld offering food to people, after all. No one in power was going to notice if children were abducted (and besides, we know the authorities were experimenting on people anyway during wartime). Yuri is a bit more difficult since I'm not sure how much we're supposed to read his high tolerance to discomfort as an actual power (for lack of a better term) or not. It might just be Endo making a joke, albeit the sad kind he favors, since if they'd had a stable home life Yor's bad cooking may have been nipped in the bud. It hasn't come up in a pivotal way to the plot yet like Yor's strength did in the early chapters/episodes when she saved Loid unless I'm misremembering something. But I don't think it'd be applicable to Twilight. He's just lucky - or unlucky, depending on how you might view his life's story. His strength as a spy comes from his own determination, tenacity, and perseverance and I think it might cheapen it a bit if he were to have had that given to him by someone else. I'm open to the possibility his dad might've been a spy, possibly an Ostanian agent, but even then that's more incidental to the person he grew up to be. I suppose someone could also argue that my theory up there has a similar effect on Yor's back story, but I don't think it would. After all, even if she weren't ridiculously strong, we know she's skilled at murder anyway.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are we thinking that Yor's super strength is the result of human experimentation done during the Westalis/Ostania war (somehow).
Like yeah, it would definitely be funny that she's Just Like That, and no actual reason is ever given but it does make me wonder. Powers like what Bond and Anya have are good for peacetime but Yor's definitely seems like something most suited for warfare.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but make it Mr. and Mrs. Forger
-Yor x Loid fanfic
Angst to fluff (sort of?)
A/N : This fanfiction was inspired by AlexV30 on reddit. I saw their post and got inspired to write it as a fanfiction :) (only the first part tho) Also this is my first time posting something I wrote so feel free to criticize me (⊙_◎) idrk how these type of posts work ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
(so pls give me some tips, and or if I did anything wrong with this story ಥ‿ಥ)
Loid was caught off guard as Yor forced him to the ground from behind. She pointed her dagger towards loid's neck, with her saying the words "i can't...do it" as she sighs in defeat while throwing away her weapon to the ground. They stared. Nothing to hear but both of their breathes gasping for air. Loid looked at her with no sign of sadness nor emotion. Just...blank. "No" he spoke. Yor looked up at him with glossy eyes, once again repeating the words "I can't..." . A moment of silence occurred. It took a bit for loid to finally let that tear drop down his cheek. He's not a cold hearted cynic, he loves yor, he can't bear to be in this situation with her. He learned to love her throughout the years they've been together as a fake married couple, and as a family.
He finally yelled "No!" "please no.." with the last part being a whisper. "You pick that weapon up right now and you fight until you drop! You hear me?!" he heatedly said. Yor collapsed, down on her knees, letting all the frustration out through tears. "I can no longer wield.." "For I can't bear to have the image of you in my mind, laying in a pool of blood." Loid stood still while pointing his gun as he thought to himself "This is your chance Twilight...shoot her".
Now, now, you're probably wondering, why was all this happening? Why were yor and loid so eager to slice eachother's throats? Well apparently, Yor decided to leave Garden since according to her, there's no point in keeping the job. Garden accepts on one condition: Eradicate Twilight. Loid got a similar mission, which is to Eradicate Thorn Princess and get information about Garden. W.I.S.E ordered this because they discovered that westalis's number one spy, is constantly in contact, or to be exact, is living with a person who is involved in an assassination group. W.I.S.E thought that Garden was interfering with world peace, so their solution is to kill. Similar reason as to why Garden is ordering yor to assassinate Loid.
Well, they'd eventually learn about eachother's identities some day, I guess that day finally came.
Loid was hesitant, "Come one Twilight! You're westalis's greatest agent, abandoned a normal life in order to serve for the country's...no...for world peace! She's getting in the way, get rid off her..." those were his thoughts at that moment. Yor spoke, before Loid could do anything else and said "Before you do so, Agent Twilight.." highlighting his name. "Promise me this," Loid listened to what she was about to say. "If you were to get rid off anya as well, after your mission is done. Please, make sure she's going to end up in a caring family. A family like ours, or should i say a family that once was ours. Surely It's the least you could do after giving her all those memories. Memories that were fake. Memories wherein all you can feel is sadness, disappointment, and being wretched once you try to remember them." "I bet you won't even feel a hint of dejection after all this is over." Loid felt his heart sting. Of course, anya, how could he forget. The kid who he always looked down on is now one of his top priorities. "Do you have any idea what that kid will feel after you just give her away?!" Yor yelled. Loid threw his gun and fell to his knees and hugged her. "You think this is what i want..?" "I may be biggest liar in your eyes right now yor but, believe me when I say this." Yor sobbed but kept quiet as she listened. "All those memories...and anya...they mean a lot to me..you mean a lot to me" . Yor interrupted "You expect me to just believe that? Surely you've heard about the organization that I'm working for, have you? They have information roughly about you. You are Agent Twilight. Expert Marksman, dispatched a group of armed thugs all by himself, and of course how could I forget? Master of disguise.." She broke the hug and looked at him dead in the eye "Loid Forger is all just a big play for your mission. The mission where I and Anya unfortunately got implicated to" "What exactly is your agency's definition of world peace? For the greater good or for your own good? I don't see how this benefits me nor anya at all," Loid replied "This doesn't follow the plan, you weren't supposed to find out". Yor said "Not supposed to find out? Huh, so you just expect us to be on our merry way and continue our lives pretending that what we had was just nothing!?" "I understand that the relationship that we had all started because of a deal for our mutual benefit. But it turns out that this whole situation was more than just a simple deal."...She paused. "There I thought I was slowly falling Inlove with a man who had an adoring child whom he loved so much. A Doctor who was so hardworking, a Husband who promised his late wife that he'll fullfil her wishes, A loving Father where he'd go to the ends of the earth for his dear daughter. Everything was a lie." Yor fell silent for a moment...
"Did there ever came a time, where you wished that this whole lie was a truth?" Loid looked at her, with tears visible, wanting to spill. "Everyday..." He said. "I wished for this life of mine, of ours, to continue on everyday..." he's crying at this point. "I gave up living a normal life, I gave up my name, I gave up everything. Thinking I could change this cruel world into something new. A world where children didn't have to cry, a world free from screams and violence, a world full of tranquility" "But when you and anya entered mine, I questioned myself..." "I questioned myself if I can be more than just a hero lurking in the shadows, If I can be a father...if i can be a husband. I asked myself what would it feel like to have a real family. Only then i realized, what we have is already real." Yor couldn't say anything. Her mind was busy passing so many thoughts. Wondering why was all this happening. 'Till loid held her hand.
"I'm guessing your organization found out about mine and ordered for you to kill me, am I right?" Loid asked. "Yeah.." Yor replied, "And I'm guessing the same thing, vice versa?" she added. "Guess they both want us dead for some reason" Loid said along with a chuckle.
"I don't want you dead...loid" yor said, with tears starting to form again. "Neither do I want you to be as well" He said. Then he kissed her. Yor didn't hesitate and kisses him back. They yearned for this moment for so long. (Well, not exactly in this situation but you get the point) Loid didn't want to waste this moment. Neither did yor. They kissed until they were once again gasping for air. "I love you" Loid said, "I love you too," Yor replied.
"I'll find a way to fix this" Loid said, reassuring her. Yor shook her head replying "No, we'll find a way to fix this." They each gave a soft smile while cupping eachother's faces.
"First we need to find out why our agencies want us to kill eachother"
To be continued...

Two OCs from my Spy X Family AU whom I’ve drawn and shared a couple of times already. These two--Rafael and Lucius--are my ideas for Loid and Yor’s biological sons in the future who would have a story set 20+ years into the canon’s future. (And prior to Rafael’s conception, there are no longer any secrets between Loid, Anya, and Yor.)
I’m not a storywriter so there’s only so much I can describe. Ideally, I would’ve loved for their story to juxtaposed alongside the canon’s, alternating between arcs and masking their real family name with a forged “Aether”, until a late arc reveals they are the Forgers’ children.
For now I’ll just list their names and key facts about them:
__
1. Rafael Forger (Age 19, born January 18) Driving Force: “Inspiration”
As a young child, Rafael idolized both his parents and fictional heroes. Dreaming of becoming similar a paragon himself, he would proactively take up martial arts training with his parents whenever time allowed. He also tailored his other hobbies--such as music and art--to help fantasize the kinds of journey he wanted to pursue. But despite being a prodigy in these fields, Rafael cares very little for a social life.
There are five things he considers to be great omens as inspired by his training (and works of fiction): (1) Waterfalls - Omen of Resilience; (2) Mountains - Omen of Triumph; (3) Full Moon - Omen of Detachment; (4) Wolves - Omen of Determination; (5) Dragon - Omen of Elegance.
Despite being naive at times, Rafael was often skeptical, if not paranoid; traits that would carry over into his job as a police detective. While diligent and reliable in his career, he is not above using violence and intimidation to extract information. Moreover, one of his motivations for becoming a detective was to keep any eye on WISE and Garden’s activities (especially the latter), both to help hide his mother’s tracks and make sure his parents aren’t wronged by their respective affiliations.
While fearless to most dangers, Rafael has a few specific fears and dreads. Similar to how his mother fears bugs, Rafael is comically terrified of slugs and worms.
More notorious, however, is his inherent loathing of drunks, or “poison” as he believes. His family has a few different theories on where that came from, but either way it’s more instinctive than rational; even the mere topic can give him a foul mood. (Incidentally he is also deathly allergic to alcohol.) Rafael is aware of his overreactions, so he tries to keep it under wraps; he’ll usually just leave the scene. But piss him off when you’re drunk and you’ll receive a few bone fractures.
Rest assured, however, that he loves his mother unconditionally and always believes in the perfect image he had of his family as a child. Thankfully Yor quit before he was conceived, but if he were to find her drunk, Rafael would want to “save her from the poison”. Speaking of his parents, Rafael placed a blind faith on their careers, such that even questionable or darker activities would be justified (though he may still argue with them on some areas). He himself would also become extremely violent to anyone threatening his family.
In his sleep, Rafael often has dreams beautiful enough for Anya to deliberately enter them every night (her psychic powers have expanded to that by then). In contrast, when he is in a foul mood (aforementioned examples), Anya would sense a dark, cacophonic noise clouding his thoughts and even paralyzing her in fear.
__ 2. Lucius Forger (Age 13, born December 23)  Driving Force: “Ownership”
In contrast to Rafael’s admiration of heroes, Lucius was more inspired by the supervillains as a child. As soon as he learned the natures of his parents jobs, Lucius marveled at mom’s ability to kill and dad’s “info games”. And while Rafael generally inherited their parents’ more heroic traits (with an edge), Lucius got the antihero juice. For example, whereas Yor used to contemplate on killing her obstacles, Lucius would also suggest committing crimes and misdemeanors to get what he wants (though he’s more candid and less remorseful about it than his mother).
With mom and dad’s secret “badass” lives, Anya’s psychic powers, Rafael’s talents, and his own gifts, Lucius truly believes the Forgers are a power family that shouldn’t just settle for a humble life. Instead, he dreams of his family taking over the world and enjoys brainstorming comical “plans” towards that end. But more practically, Lucius does at least want his parents to be higher brass in their departments, in hopes of having both WISE and Garden under his family’s control.
While Rafael’s talents are mostly physical and artistic, Lucius is more gifted in intelligence. His passions and hobbies include video games and mechanics; i.e. he’s something of an “evil boy genius”. Needless to say, Lucius likes creating gadgets and hacking computer softwares. He has even taught himself to drive or pilot vehicles at a very young age.
Despite all these points portraying a supervillain in the making, Lucius is generally a very cheerful and optimistic boy with a mind full of jokes and wisecracks. Whenever presented with an obstacle or inconvenience, he usually just treats it as a brainteaser and finds/prepares/creates some loophole out of it.
While a proud and loving son and brother, Lucius still loves teasing and poking fun at them, especially Loid. He will oftentimes sneak into Loid’s workplace and try to get involved in WISE’s agenda while trying to get him promoted, but even then he likes to pull pranks on everyone including his dad. Altogether, his mischief, quick thinking, and audacity make Lucius the most scolded child of the three, but also the hardest to parent or discipline (i.e. school teachers get even more headaches with him). He is slightly more intimidated by Yor’s anger, however, though she still often finds him funny and amusing.
__ Currently, Lucius supports Rafael as a detective assistant, providing with tools and methods to aid investigations. The two brothers have a bit of a straight man-comedian dynamic as well as brawn and brain. When they’re not working, their joint pastimes typically include video games, music production, table tennis, bowling, and capoeira.
Anyways, I ended up writing so much more than I had planned, so I may copy all this into a Deviantart Journal at some point (if anyone wondering why they’re seeing identical text).
