Why does Ren have 4 ears? Are they all real or is one set fake?

Hehe I’ve gotten this question a lot actually! They’re all real— I like to think hybridization isn’t always a clean balance of traits, so Ren just unfortunately ended up with two sets of ears— his Dog ears being much more receptive to sound, naturally— and sometimes when the extra intake of sound is too overwhelming, I imagine he wears earplugs in his human ears to help adjust :> it’s a bit weird, but idk! i like to make designs funky and nonconventional! I liked the idea that Ren had hearing struggles due to wonky hybridization and just kept the concept :>

Hi guys, this is usually what a doodle page ends up looking like <3 (oh, and @ancha-aus thought you might like this! Not writing but certainly fuel to my fire lol-)

This one is New Age filled!!! (Close-ups abd Lore beneath the cut!)

1) Night and Cross!

Night is actually very clingy once he's a teen. He doesn't usually realize it, but around the castle he'll snake to be closer to his Knights so long as there's no one he needs to keep his composure infront of is nearby. Cross is the one who's not used to physical touch (when it's not Ink ofc) so Night in his personal bubble makes his heart melt but also scares tf out of him <3

2) Error and Night's Meeting!

Error was carrying his whole life on his back and trying not to get arrested for unintentional property damage at this point, so when he saw the chance to get back at his brother and prove he was strong enough? Yeah, he got that on chance instantly. And was VERY smug when Nightmare chose him. (Also, Error is wearing gloves, so less Haphephobia)

3) Dream and Blue designs!

I think these are good tentative designs! Dream probably has a more regal fit, but he likes to play up that rugged exile look- He's inspired by Archers, while Blue takes on that classic Knightly-vibe. Their equipment is mostly stolen from Night's troops or brought with them from Blue's home kingdom.

Also, Dream is approx Killer's height at this point, shorter than Cross and *much* shorter than Apple!Nightmare. (Hc that Skeletons tend to be tinier in stature thanks to weird monster beauty standards. Horror and Geno's fam are outliers.)

4) Horror and Dust designs!

Horror is naturally a very *large* monster. He's very malnourished when Nightmare meets him, but by the time he's a Knight Nightmare has made sure that's no longer the case. He actually loves comfy, simple clothes, but to play up the whole 'strong mysterious' bit he wears a more barbaric Knight's garb. He doesn't mind acting scary, it's more fun that way :]. Dust is very very small, and envies horror sometimes for his size, but his tiny stature let's him control his body and move a lot quicker. He's very much based on a rogue, and usually covers the lower part of his face w/ a black cloth, and the upper part w/ his hood or mask. Dust only removes both to bathe, eat, or relax in a safe location. (Ignore that I can't draw the stupid gaster blaster lmao-)

These last two were space-fillers, but Cross and his Borzoi (Windmill, otherwise known as Milly (Killer named her-)) and really bad first wips of Ccino! I think Ccino was a chubby, happy toddler, but lost a lot of 'weight' (bone mass? Magic?) due to stress and pressure and bad eating habits. So it isn't until a while after the Coronation that he starts to relax abd feel safe enough to eat normal meals (Nightmare used to guilt him into eating snacks together, but as his boss (and younger brother) he can encourage it more often). By the time Killer shows he's still not quite healthy, but he's better. As more weight is lifted off his shoulders, the better he is. (That 'beauty' most people saw was a more stereotypical slimness, but Killer never stopped seeing Ccino as beautiful-) I think he never looked traditionally underweight, so no one noticed, and it was only much later that Night processed it. (And maybe it's why Dream hardly recognized him later on-)

To preface: I was going through bit of a "baby fever" for a bit with fics, just wanting to write really domestic fics with some suitors, or explore how they'd treat their own future kids with MC (given their childhoods and such).

WIP snippet:

As you slowly open the door to wake up the tiny royals, Silvio follows behind you into your children's bedroom, his eyes looking over each of your three precious creations, one by one. Aurelio and Lucia are both still fast asleep, but Antonio is already awake, playing with his toys. Silvio approaches Antonio as quietly as he can in his thick boots, bending to his level to ruffle the bluenette's hair affectionately.

"Mornin', Antonio. Yer up early today, huh?"

Silvio glances over at the sleeping Aurelio and Lucia, then back to Antonio with a questioning expression.

"Looks like yer the only one who couldn't sleep through the night. Did ya have a nightmare or somethin'?"

That's all I have for rn, just barely started on this one ngl. I'm not great at imitating Silvio's speech, so I'll have to touch that up later on!

i haven't played minecraft in years, but with the armadillo winning the vote, i think about how wolves don't really have much going on in terms of their utility. like anytime i tame a wolf, i end up just kinda keeping them sitting at home.

i think if mojang really does feel like wolves are deserving of armour, with the addition of armadillos, they really need to update wolves to be more useful as companion mobs, because personally... i never feel the urge to bring a wolf with me when im going out to do things, especially if it involves combat.

like, what do dogs do best? fetching stuff and digging, right? like i wish that i could just mill about with a wolf and they track a scent or something and start digging into the dirt and then proceed to bring you that item. like it could range from rarely digging up iron nuggets to digging up vegetables or whatever, yknow. combine the fetching stuff with combat and you wouldn't have to manually pick up stray arrows or items from mobs your wolf kills.

the only other thing i wish you could do with wolves is automate their health in some way, like give more utility to the bowl item so you can place it down for them to eat from so you don't have to constantly manage their health by looking at their tail. just minor quality of life stuff i guess.

idk, that's just my thoughts. i do like wolves in minecraft, they just feel rather lacking with the way some new mobs have so much going on, like the sniffer and allay and so on.

anyway 💅 alternia as another realm within the 16 and maybe there was an invasion of ninjago at some point in the past, i'm still working out details. but the basic gist is a bunch of trolls immigrated to ninjago and honestly between the serpentine and munce and geckle and merlopians and the occasional skulkin and all of the all of it and everything else they fit right in tbh. they mostly keep to themselves but there is a bit of mingling between humans trolls and serpentine (up until the serpentine war at least), but trolls as elemental masters is next to unheard of given that trolls and humans can't really reproduce together that way.

except when wu goes to find all the holders of the elements of creation for the green ninja prophecy, well. Colton Bekkit and Nya are very obviously trolls, and wu knew that his brother had somehow managed to have a son with Tomeseek. what he wasn't expecting was for the masters of ice and lightning to have been raised by trolls, too. things are about to get chaotic (colton ends up crushing on the other three in three different quadrants pretty much. immediately. nya and kai had to raise each other and so nya's not really in touch with troll culture. things are only going to go off the rails from there)

I know you're gonna give us a happy ending, but poor Trent doesn't. I love that Beard is being protective over him. It's just. So good. This tangled skein of events, Aleksi situation in other words, has indeed seemed bizarre. Little by little, we're starting to see the big picture: Aleksi's Instagram purge, new piercing, imitating the style of a certain bass player, blatant avoidance of being close to this certain bass player in public.. He's figuring out something important but he's not ready yet. Being in the constant spotlight, not to mention the fans' attention, is probably making him overthink. Exaggerated, raunchy play with Joonas is safe, traditional 'boys will be boys' type of action that cannot be taken too seriously as opposed to holding hands with Joel or openly adoring Olli. Godspeed Aleksi, I wish him as smooth as possible journey to self-discovery and spiritual growth.

It's crazy how much sense it makes when you put it like this?? And like, I know that all this time I've been saying I find it unlikely Aleksi would let the shippy comments (on his twitch stream chat and possibly elsewhere for him to see) get to him or affect his behaviour, but if you combine it with him possibly struggling to accept something about himself, I can actually believe that it would make him overthink and reconsider everything. And the example you brought up with "raunchy play with Joonas" is an excellent one, because it's obvious to everyone they're just messing around and that if he actually was involved with Joonas like that, chances are he wouldn't dare do that in public. So it's safe, right? But people pointing out the smaller, more subtle things with Olli (and Joel) perhaps...trigger something in him? Something he doesn't really have words for quite yet? Hence his reaction is to withdraw from those situations in public. Because people noticing those things makes him uncomfortable; not necessarily because the implication of him liking men makes him uncomfortable per se, but the fact that people notice something he's maybe not ready to admit to himself... 😭

I bet there are more things we could view from this perspective (like the somewhat out-of-the-blue girlfriend reveal earlier this year) but aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I'm going insane with how the pieces we've collected so far seem to click together so well when you think about it 👀

In conclusion, babyboy is going through it and I, too, hope he gets there eventually 🤧
