ppl are too quick to point to laios' disability as the reason his friends think he's a freak sometimes. so many instances of laios getting yelled at are, in my eyes, a case of "this guy had to emotionally mature very early in order to be there for his little sister" combined with "much older friends who never had to learn to manage their own emotions to the same degree"
a lot of the time he's right about needing to be more direct/deal with things in a way that may seem scary/needing to put your gut reaction aside. he tries not to make his friends uncomfortable and he puts up with a lot because he's trying to keep the peace, but he also pushes the others out of their comfort zones purposefully to try to get them to think more constructively. everyone else in the party is prone to acting on their gut instincts and avoiding uncomfortable situations even when facing them head-on is very much necessary. part of what makes laios such a great leader is the fact that he knows from experience how to put his own feelings aside to help someone else grow.
yes, he does make a lot of social blunders by accident and he does struggle to connect with others, but not all of his positive influence on others is accidental or "despite" making people uncomfortable. a lot of the time, I think it's clear he knows exactly what he's doing and he's trying to help the people around him process emotions in a healthy way as they all go through some truly harrowing shit. all the main characters support each other as well as they can with their unique emotional skillsets. laios' skillset just happens to be "gently talk child into eating her vegetables"

The way some of yall mischaracterize Ratio as being stoic in chill when in reality he is 24/7 resisting the urge to rip everyone around him a new one is crazy to me like. He cares so much, so much. It’s unhealthy, he loses the idgaf war every time because Ratio is the least nonchalant person ever like
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was this close to breaking character and throttling Sunday like you cannot tell me he wasn’t planning a murder in this scene. Ratio straight up calls Sunday a crazy bitch but everyone brushed it aside 😭
Honestly his entire conversation with Screwllum is just him tweaking, watch it on YouTube the VAs performance is amazing, you can here just how much He Cares
Tumblr media
Genuinely, Aventurine is way better at concealing his true feelings that Ratio. Ratio may be acting for the sake of the plan but the way he truly feels about anything he’s doing always seeps through, it’s why he apologizes to Aventurine in 2.0 in their staged argument scene. It’s why he is as mean to Sunday as he can be. It’s why him pretending that he “hates” Aventurine makes him act so silly. Ratio can’t fully commit to the bit, he can’t force himself to not care or to be someone he isn’t, because fundamentally Ratio CARES and that is something he is incapable of hiding, alabaster bust or not.
The problem is that him expressing his care is often done in a rude and/or blunt manner which people tend to interpret as stoicism or apathy when it’s anything but. Ratio’s vial that he gives to Aventurine is short, sweet and gets straight to the point, because that’s the easiest way for Ratio to express his emotions, even if it’s often detrimental for him and anyone else around him. However Aventurine understands him quite well, and knows that although brief, Ratio telling him to “stay alive, survive this and keep on living” is how he truly feels towards Aventurine, and that’s enough to keep him going.
Underneath Ratios carefully crafted marble facade is a man who cares so much and is so bad at expressing it and I wish the community in general, especially Aventio shippers would acknowledge that more. Ratios true moments of sincerity are brief, but they are anything but stoic. Let the man be soft, it’s in character.

We literally had a scene of Marcille insulting Orcs to their fucking face and Rin being asked if she knew Toshiro because they were both East Asian from the Eastern Archipelago, yet people will only use prejudice and ignorance as an excuse to hate on certain characters rather than a prevalent issue that every character is both victim and perpetrator of and one that needs to be resolved

Hey all, MatPat made a video on TADC, so I think it’s time to give a quick refresher on what a terrible person he is, so it doesn’t turn into his second FNaF-Cashcow for theories.
Tumblr media
We all know how scummy of a person he is, with doxxing, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and more.
Tumblr media
Not to mention his recent video where he talks about the hate towards his FNaF theories, where he spends the majority of the video explaining how him and his staff are smarter than the majority of the population due to a personality test that his staff has all taken.
youtube
He then ends the video by taking around 10 minutes to promote their new merch, and ties the merch plug-in into the main point of the video, trying to guilt the audience into giving him more money.
He’s not some “funny theorist man”, he’s a horrible, bigoted scumbag who doesn’t seem to care that his words have an impact on the world and actual, real life people.
So yeah. This was a post detailing the horrible actions of this man, and I hope it serves as a reminder of what a horrible type of person he is. Do not support his content, especially not now when he’s jumping ship from one fandom that hates him, and going to a new fandom thats getting more mainstream.

another angle of Curly's negligence folks seem to pass over is, not even towards Anya.
the Tulpar "passed inspection" yet it was missing a fucking cryopod. doesn't matter who would be left out, cus they are all equally expendable. Curly could have gotten that fixed yet he didn't. "should have made a bigger stink about that", YEAH YOU WOULD THINK SO!
he should have, as the captain looking after not just the crew but himself (captain goes down with the ship and all), and he didn't. he says he should have, makes an off-handed comment about it when talking to Jimmy, but words don't matter. someone's life is at stake here from the start, but all he can offer is a passing comment of regret.
i wonder if Curly was really that good of a captain, or if it was Jimmy hearing it from the higher ups cus Curly is a terminal enabler, and that INCLUDES enabling the company's disregard for safety and endangerment of the crew. because Curly says he cares and maybe deep down he does, but it doesn't matter as much cus he's not actually putting in the work. he will never put his money where his mouth is, because that's not even his money, but Pony Express's.
a good employee is one that doesn't threaten your bottom line, and Curly is a great captain.
(so great he will be fired just as easily as everyone else on the ship)

The real sign of the inevitable dissolution of Jayce and Viktor's partnership/friendship really was the Progress Day Speech. I've seen people say this scene highlighted the growing shift in priorities between Jayce and Viktor. That Jayce was getting swept up in the limelight while Viktor wanted to keep it humble and stick to the work, and that's wrong.
First thing's first, Viktor does in fact want to go on stage (he was excited to just demonstrate the hexclaw), and Jayce is sincere in that he wants to share the spotlight and credit for hextech with Viktor. The problem in that scene is that for practically 7 years, Jayce has failed to see what's actually going on.
Jayce can't see that his face and only his face is on the mugs, the blimps, and the very banners that decorate the hall he's supposed to give a speech in. Jayce can't see that the Councilors direct all their questions on hextech to him while Viktor sits right next to him. Jayce doesn't notice that Mel, the most perceptive Councilor, still thought of Viktor as Heimerdinger's assistant (she didn't know they were close??!?!). He doesn't realize that the discussion on weaponizing hextech is centered on him rather than between him and his partner. Viktor isn't the one being invited to Piltover's parties for a reason.
Between Jayce and Viktor, they're partners on equal grounds, but to EVERYONE else in Piltover Viktor is practically a non-entity. The only person who doesn't get this is Jayce. It's a testament to Jayce's earnest naivette to think Viktor, as a Zaunite and visibly disabled, would be easily welcomed on stage by Piltover's elite to represent what Piltover has to offer. You'll notice this is the same crowd of people that attend Mel's Gala, the same Gala Viktor wasn't invited to.
This dynamic is insane!?!?! It's unsustainable!!!!! Obviously, Viktor is a grown man and could have mentioned something to Jayce, but also it's at least 7 years, how does someone miss this?!?!
By their last scene of the finale, Jayce was able to give Viktor a voice on the Council by literally standing by his side and giving him a seat at the table, but like peace treaty, the gesture has come far too late, and things cannot return to as they were.

Is it controversial to say that curly is a people pleaser and an enabler who tried to play both sides trying to help the abused while trying to please the abuser and ended up fucking everyone and himself in the process

HaSO: Not all humans are the same Humanity, neurodiversity, and connection in space
[Fern (human) walks through the break room of a spaceship. Two minutes later, she passes through again.] Egor [bromid]: what is the human doing? Vuna [bromid]: I do not know. We are just transporting her. Human Jeffery? Jeffery [human]: I don’t know either, Vuna; we call that pacing, but who knows why she’s doing it.
V: but you’re a human. J [shrugs]: I’m not a human expert. [Fern enters the room] V: Fern? F [not stopping]: Vuna? V: Where are you walking? F [at the door]: Just walking. E: I’m going to join her! [F and E exit. Two minutes later, they walk through again, giggling together] V: Well, whatever floats their ship, to use the human phrase. J: Boat. But yeah, happy to see them happy.

one of the things that I found particularly interesting in Demigods of Olympus is that it finally gives the best direct comparison we've seen so far between Percy and another character's experiences in terms of academics and particularly ableist discrimination.
Tumblr media
The way Zane describes his experiences and what we see in his POV is that, while he is similarly discriminated against for his "atypical" behavior and blame is placed on him, the only sorts of punishments he receives for this are relatively benign, such as an increase in counseling. (It is also notable that Zane is somewhat autistic-coded, such as having the "incorrect" scripts when speaking with adults and Sam explicitly reminding him to remember to make proper eye contact.) Percy, on the other hand, similarly experiences discrimination for "atypical" behavior, but whereas Zane is treated as "too smart for his own good" and given slaps on the wrist, Percy is automatically labeled as aggressive, destructive, and a trouble-maker based on preconceived assumptions about him and is more severely punished, such as being frequently expelled.
We rarely get this level of direct comparison between Percy's experiences and that of another character, particularly such similar experiences, so looking at the differences is really interesting to gauge what their different experiences with ableist discrimination is like - and how it could potentially tie into intersectionality and other forms of discrimination at play for them.
For instance, Zane's parents are generally heavily implied to be middle-class and/or generally financially secure, versus Percy who grew up poor, so it could be classism in combination with ableist discrimination. Alternatively, it could be intersectionality with racial discrimination, as neurodivergent behavior in people of color is significantly more likely to be punished more severely and labeled as aggressive or disruptive behavior due to racist preconceptions - particularly since we know Percy's experiences with ableist discrimination are also somewhat based on assumptions people make regarding his appearance. Both Zane and Percy are racially ambiguous - Zane's appearance essentially being completely unspecified, but Percy at least having some notable details such as having a deep tan complexion. If not racism, it could also be colorism, which in this context often has similar intersectionality. There's a lot of potential options.
It's just very interesting to me! I love having such a direct point of comparison to examine the experiences of two characters within.

Imagine you spend your whole life working your ass off to succeed with your metal band, something you've always dreamed of. You get so much hate from both the mainstream media and from inside the metal community itself, but keep going and end up as a Grammy award winning musician with a sellout arena touring band and your own movie.
And then at your movie premiere, your so-called 'fans' go online and say you need a shower and that your wife should be having second thoughts because you had the audacity to grow your hair out...
... Tobias Forge really is stronger than any US marine to have to deal with this shit

CoD fandom stop being ableist towards Frank Woods challenge (impossible)
Not only do I see posts from people whining about how basically “Woods is useless now” but I even saw someone draw him without his wheelchair and standing upright
If you can’t draw wheelchairs, either learn to do it or don’t draw the character at all; wheelchairs aren’t even hard to draw in the first place either, you’re just ableist and lazy
Love how notable it is that everyone’s now treating Woods like a useless burden when what happened to him wasn’t even his fault and also… that’s completely untrue because disabled people are still able to do plenty of shit (not to mention, that sentiment is as ableist as you can get because it stinks of eugenics)
Reminds me of how real life veterans are treated after not only physical injuries that result in them becoming physically disabled but also mental trauma that result in them becoming mentally disabled/ill; if you don’t view real life veterans as useless burdens, why would you view Woods as one?

Alt text under the cut
A short comic, all drawn with a loose style in a warmly tinted grayscale. The first panel depicts Scaramouche from Genshin Impact, he is dressed in the attire he wears as the playable Wanderer character and is angrily gesticulating towards the viewer and looking down at them scornfully. He says, in all capital letters, "are you deaf??". The second panel is a view from behind the Wanderer, showing the viewer that he was yelling at the Genshin Impact character Alhaitham. Alhaitham is significantly taller than the wanderer, even with his hat, and has a neutral expression and stance. The Wanderer has an anime style anger mark above his head, and Alhaitham has a speech bubble that only contains ellipses.
In the first panel of the second image, the Wanderer and Alhaitham still face one another in the same poses, except for Alhaitham's right hand. His hand is moving in the American Sign Language sign for "yes", which is also plainly written out for the viewer in text. The wanderer's anger symbol is no longer present. The middle panel is a simplified silhouette of both characters facing one another, their profiles visible to the viewer. A large ellipses hovers above their heads. The final panel shows the Wanderer turning away from Alhaitham, tugging down his wide-brimmed hat from the front to cover his face. All that can be seen of his expression is a small smile and a bead of sweat. The Wanderer has a speech bubble, which says in lower case lettering: "ah. my mistake". Alhaitham is standing behind the Wanderer, his expression still mostly neutral as he watches the wanderer turn to leave, but he has lines below his eyes that show irritation. His arms are now crossed, and his left hand is holding a book open under the opposite arm.
The bonus image is a grayscale sketch of Lumine and Kaveh from Genshin Impact. To the left, Lumine looks frustrated, with her shoulders drawn up and her left hand pressed to her face while the other rests on her hip. The hand on her face is dragging the lower eyelid on her left eye down. Kaveh is slightly hunched over towards Lumine, and he is laughing so hard he's crying and spitting through pursed lips. He's holding his sides with opposite hands tightly, and looking towards Lumine.
