You know it's rare for me to openly speak out on a topic such as this, I've, legit only ever drawn attention to my stance on things like this literally only once, like, like ever I think?? Cause someone asked but like-

Could we just let, people, like things?? Like y'all, I, everyone who is ever in a fandom, especially for selfshipping, you, do know we're all basically playing with evolved stages with our imaginations, that which does not affect the real world like, whatsoever??

If you like a villain character, you can write how they legit loathe everyone else but you, that they're the softest around you, and would raze the entire world if it meant that you'd be smiling and all theirs.

If you like a character that happens to have a sexuality pertaining to the gender you're not, you can just CHANGE IT so that it does involve you, if you love the character, it is JUST A FICTIONAL BEING, do the things that make you happy! That make you comfortable, that is fitted for yourself, hence the term "selfshipping", it shouldn't be a concern or worry to anyone else about how you go about, what you want to do to a character unless you share your love to the world.

Take it from someone who has been harassed before over an incredibly stupid list of things, (villain characters, age difference as my f/os are much older than me, bi erasure??? yeah okay), let people, just, be, people, it's not hard to do - if you don't like something, don't look at it, and leave the person alone-you're not saving a fictional character who's gonna somehow thank you if you call out something that you don't like personally, you just look like a prude who has control of a keyboard and taking advantage of anonymity as long as it lasts.

Live by the creed of, "if they're not hurting anyone, if they're not hurting living, breathing people, then do what you want."

And while I kinda prefer not to sway over to a label in the selfshipping community, proship people you are ALWAYS safe here on my blog, gush about a character, talk to me about it, I welcome it.

This will never be an area where happiness is forbidden or talked down upon. Fandom areas are, oddly enough very dangerous which is so, bizarre to me, that people get that insanely mad over someone just trying to enjoy the piece of media they are.

So question about a show like Friends. What made people like Rachel more than Monica? CC is objectively way prettier than JA, and her character is the uniting link between all the others, plus Mondler was quite popular. I’m also confused why CC wasn’t even nominated for an Emmy? Her acting was just as good or bad as the others…

Conversely, Ross doesn’t seem to be as popular now. Was that always true? And as the first one cast for whom the role was written and who was paid the most, didn’t DS have any say in how annoying woobie they were making Ross? Tbh while a bit toxic, I didn’t dislike Ross much and I was never a Rachel fan so things haven’t aged too badly for me. Thoughts?

Also in general what do you think about the 6 leads career before and after Friends?

Because Jennifer was hella ambitious and she latched onto Courtney Cox who was the best-known actor at the time. She and Courtney became the Jensen and Jared of the Friends fandom.  Then you have Jennifer’s father who has been working in Hollywood for 30 years and knows enough of the network to give his daughter the advantage.  Between this and Jennifer's PR team, they got the media to make a fuss over Jennifer’s hair style.  The show’s premise switched from Monica and Ross as the show’s sibling leads to the insufferable Rachel-Ross story arc. Other characters mentioned how hot and beautiful Rachel is, except she’s not noticeably more attractive looking than Monica and Phoebe.  Jennifer's manager and PR team continue to work overtime and successfully maneuvered her as the "America’s sweetheart" even though she was born into Hollywood semi-royalty while her colleagues came from humble beginnings.  Rachel Green got to be the most developed character while Monica Geller was flanderized into a shrieking neurotic.

As you said, Monica and Ross were originally supposed to be the focus of the show as all characters are there because of them.  Monica and Ross knew Rachel in high school, Ross and Chandler were college roommates.  Monica and Phoebe were former roommates.  Chandler and Joey are current roommates.  It was supposed to center around the siblings; it was called Friends after all, not Fucking.

I think Ross's popularity is the same now as it was then, with its usual waxing and waning depending on the new fans' age and maturity level. IMO David Schwimmer saved Ross from becoming a caricature because only he can make Ross’s “we were on a break! and "pivot!” and "FINE" after finding out about Joey and Rachel into something that is relatable and making it iconic instead of annoying. After Monica who cooked and looked after everyone without thanks or acknowledgement, Ross was probably the second most caring and generous out of the group, like when he walked his ex-wife down the aisle at her wedding.

Actors don’t have power over the direction of their character unless the show is based on their creation, like the shows Rosanne and Seinfield were based on their stand up comic routines. But even then actors still don't have power, Rosanne Barr had a mini-strike on set over lines she didn't agree with and still lost out.

I liked Courtney's career pre-Friends and during Friends than her post-Friends era. I have to admit I really liked Jennifer's predatory dentist in Horrible Bosses, only second to Steve Martin's sadistic dentist in Little Shops of Horror. She's having the best career trajectory post-Friends. David is the best actor of the cast and I liked him in Uprising and The Laundromat and his portrayal as the late Robert Kardasian is my guilty pleasure. His career as a character actor is going well even when it's hard not to see Ross Geller at first. I've only seen Lisa when she guest starred on The Good Place as the brilliant Hypatia from ancient Egypt who was reduced into a Phoebe because eternal happiness turns you into a brain-dead happiness zombie. Matt continues to play version of his Joey character, or maybe he's just playing himself. Rest in Peace, Matthew, 17 Again was underrated.

Considering recent events and posts I'd like to point out that this is supposed to be constructive criticism. Not bullying. Not anything else.

I don't try to "criticize" things Kc cannot control, such as the fandom. That whole Party discourse thing? That was me criticizing the fandom. Kittycorn squeakself has never made or alluded to any toxic ships. It was moreso me just being angry at the fandom for shipping a therapist with their clients AND ignoring Party's sexuality considering he's gay/achillean from what I've been informed. It was not an attack towards the ZCP or Kittycorn because they genuinely couldn't control these things if they TRIED. If anything, it's the fandoms fault for it.

I know that this comic is meant to be comforting for kit. The only things I've given constructive criticism for is is the way that disabilities are handled. And there's no way you can tell me I am "bullying" when I say that because I am literally a visually impaired person giving constructive criticism on how a disability that relates to MINE could be better handled in the comic. I love Sparklecare as someone who has experienced ableism from almost everyone around me. I think it's a great way to symbolize ableism and the way the healthcare system is inherently toxic and a breeding ground for trauma and assault.

I only made this a separate blog from my main because I figured people wouldn't want to see constructive criticism on my main. Not to mention that some people in the fandom (not blaming Kc or the ZCP for this) can really be white knights and decide that anything less than positivity for the comic is an attack against Kc. You can tell me this isn't true but I've seen people be called all flavors of slurs and even been told to harm themselves over this. And I'm talking about literal children having to put up with being sent these things. Regardless of the blog or not, I should NOT be scared of saying anything against the comic in fear of getting death threats. The fandom is getting bad behind the scenes and I do not blame Kc for that. Kit did nothing to deserve this. Especially all of those "criticism" blogs that aren't actually criticism, but just bullying the comic and tearing it apart. When I agree that SCH has its problems, all media does and we should simply acknowledge these without saying the entire comic is garbage because. It's not. It has gotten so many people, me included out of dark places and when I criticize it I always try to make it as constructive as possible because I genuinely love this comic and its message. It hits super close to home for me and I love to see the story and characters grow and change. This includes me feeling comfortable enough to give constructive advice on how disabilities similar to mine could be more comfortably portrayed. I have never and never will say that the comic or Kc are bad because honestly? The comic already treats (most) disability or disorders a LOT better than other media does. And that's something I praise it for. I could go on and on about the things I like about this comic and characters, like Creams AFRID being treated in a humanizing and positive way. As someone with food sensitivity, I am so happy to see it be painted in a normal, healthy way and not the characters making fun of it, as a lot of media does.

But loving something means you need to acknowledge its flaws. And Sparklecare has flaws, as all media does. That does NOT mean that you should make Kc feel bad about her own fucking trauma. You are not entitled to know kits trauma. You are not entitled to the characters identities. You can say something Upsets you, but that doesn't mean that it's inherently bad. Some things on this blog are just things that upset me. It's okay to be upset by things. But it doesn't mean that whatever upsets you should immediately be changed unless it is an actual problem and not just something that YOU personally do not like.

This turned out way longer than I thought it would, but I uh. Just wanted to get that out there.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? None, really. I mostly write HEA. I am planning an MCD fic, but I don't know if I'll find the strength to actually write it.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Definitely PS. I Hate You. The epilogue will give you diabetes.

Poor Dragon Malleus probably doesn’t get as much attention, but not because everyone is very mean, but because it’s pretty difficult to have big enough space that is also discreet enough + have enough time to do it. He probably has to fly his suitor to his date spot of choice whenever he wants it to happen… 🤔

But Lilia does treat him sometimes! He is probably currently the one and only person in the world who is qualified enough to satisfy a big hungry dragon lol He has experience… And let’s just say, it’s more energy consuming that any regular kind of fucking because you kind of need to get creative and active sometimes…. Unfortunately, just using a dick isn’t really enough.

Sebek has never been entrusted with such an important task before, but Malleus and Lilia both know that it’s going to happen one day, and that Lilia would have to train Sebek and teach him everything about the way Malleus loves to be pleasured in his dragon form. Sebek has no clue yet… But he’ll do his best!! His dick isn’t as big as Lilia’s, but his limbs are longer and his body is larger and heavier, so Malleus is going to enjoy him once he’s ready.

Oh right, Malleus’ tail. He likes its shape and size, but he the thought of doing it to himself is too depressing. But… he does get lonely and horny, so he entertains the idea sometimes…

So, I saw your twst isekai idea post, and had IDEAS!

so I'm not super familiar with most of those series/fandoms, BUT...

What came to mind for me was Stardew Valley (since it's been on my mind recently). I don't know how familiar you are with the game, but I think that if he was isekai'd there, Jade would THRIVE as a farmer! I mean, he's got a green thumb and knows about plants. There's a mountain (with a mine), plenty of local flora to forage, and a possibility for a MUSHROOM CAVE on the farm. He'd LOVE IT!! Plus, the people in town are incredibly interesting - he'd never get bored there. And he's sketchy clever and resourceful enough to know how to get what he wants. His family are suggested to also be 'businesspeople', after all :)

Epel would also do just fine there, obviously. He already comes from a farming family, so I imagine he'd do a good job setting up an orchard in Stardew Valley.

On the other hand, I think that Idia would STRUGGLE in that situation. He's very clever, but NOT GOOD with new people, or much manual labour. And unless he already knew about gardening/farming/foraging/fishing/etc. from a game or series, he'd probably be totally lost on how to manage. (It would probably be pretty funny for us, but very stressful for him.)

He'd love to forage in the surrounding areas and hike around the forests - and fishing! I remember him being super passionate about everything in the Camp Vargas stories he was in and I just love how he can get so happy when he's able to indulge in his interests.

(I wonder if he would mess with some of the villagers by swimming in the ocean in his merform... I may end up shipping him with Elliott if I think about that too much - typical bachelor on the beach falls for the mysterious merperson in the ocean typa story idk my brain is running away from me haha)

He would be in his element! I can imagine him with expertise from what his family taught him on his farm - how to selectively breed plants to make the best produce, how to graft two parts of heirloom species of plants together to get the best traits from both (like the roots from a tomato plant bred to resist root diseases and the stem from a plant that produces large, delicious fruits! I've seen a video about it and it was really cool lol)

And he has the type of face and vibe that I feel like would make older ladies fawn over him a little if that makes sense? Like Marnie, Caroline, and Jodi - their group. Like, he's polite because of his time with Vil, he's quite short and has a boyish face, he's hardworking etc. I can see him receiving cookies from Evelyn and stuff like that.

Idia's internal dialogue would probably be an absolute disaster haha - he is NOT built for this environment! There's too much focus on socialisation! And his noodly gamer arms cannot do farming! He would be having a Bad Time and it would definitely be funny to watch it pan out haha

At least there's a chance that he could have some meta knowledge due to the fact that he's a gamer. Maybe it'll be exactly like some sorta game from Twisted Wonderland called 'SunMist Hollow' (I just searched synonyms for that haha)

Why Do You Care So Much About Our Flag Means Death?

I've been out to my family for about 8 months now. (My very religious, not very happy about it family. I'm not in danger of getting kicked out, and no one's treating me any different, but they've made it clear they're not thrilled with the announcement and/or don't really believe me).

Maybe it's the way I came out, maybe it's the upbringing, but overall, I kinda of don't care if people know my sexuality?

It's not a big deal for me. Unless I'm trying to hit on you, you don't need to know that I'm queer. Sure, it's a part of me, but it's a pretty small part.

But it's my sexuality, and I get to choose how big that queer part is. Tiny and quiet suits me just fine, thank you very much.

But quiet isn't really an option anymore.

Almost all media tells you, you have to be loud in order to be proud.

There are no quiet queers.

You're either the gayest gay to ever gay radiating gay energy [RuPaul, Crowley and Aziraphale, Stede Bonnet, Calico Jack].

Or you're straight.

There are no quiet queers.

There's no characters that just. . . are. They don't plaster their rooms in their pride flag, they don't parade around announcing it to everyone, but they're still queer.

And then they gave us Izzy Hands.

OFMD gave us a show where a badass, disabled, never flirts with anyone, doesn't radiate any sort of gay energy is queer!

Undeniably queer!

Canonically confesses his love to another man queer!!!!

And I LOVE THAT!!! Fuck that makes me feel so seen.

Not only that! But a quiet queer and a loud proud queer fell in love WITH THE SAME MAN!!!

They exist on the same ship! There's no judgement for Izzy to be loud, there's no pressure for him to change, they're happy with Izzy being quiet because that's how Izzy wants to be.

And that's not an attitude that gets reflected in the real world very much.

There are many times where I feel like I'm not gay enough. I don't want a pride flag. I don't want to announce it to everyone. I like being quiet. Being quietly queer makes me happy.

So to see someone else- even if he's fictional get to be that. And be celebrated for it.

It makes me want to cry with joy.

OFMD is being threatened right now, and it's not often I talk about how much a fandom really means to me.

But this show has helped me on my journey more than anything else, and I wanted to talk about it.

And to personally thank the writers, directors, and Con O'Neill for making me feel seen and safe.

I don't have one of these for Voyager. There were very few ships and those that existed I was happy enough with. I was never on the Janeway/Chakotay bandwagon, so that hasn't changed.

Might be Crell, actually, or Kejal. Or the EMH. You actually picked a good one with Voyager because it and Picard are the two Treks I don't cling to like someone with their firstborn child.

prettiest character:

Lord I don't do this beauty means not a thing to me. I actually would then have to say Neelix, but that's because I'm admiring the makeup work.

This used to be Seven, but since Picard I've warmed to her a bit. Q shows up once, so he gets the prize. He always gets the prize, unless you're talking DS9, then Winn, of course. Damned shame because John is an amazing and kind person, and from what I've heard, Louise was too.

I tend to have the first seasons be my least favorites, just because everyone is finding their footing then and there isn't really any proper meshing in those seasons. That's the only reason I'd have for this answer for Voyager. I feel just okay about it all around, mostly. I've actually been rewatching and I enjoy it very much, but I don't get into it or feel devoted to much of it like I did the other shows. I have yet to really figure out why.

You know I wasn't here during that era, nor am I familiar with the other issues that were beheld during that time, but I have to give Jenny props for one thing at least; seeing through Tara's BS

I'm wondering if the fact she had her own mind and way of doing things, and the fact that it was reported there was a Vegas trip where Jenny "had a reason to be jealous" that Tara was the interfering factor to their eventual break up........twice.

So Jenny wasn't considered a useful addition to the Tara gravy train and because Christopher made the mistake of valuing the length of their friendship over his own feelings......even Scott approved of Jenny

I've never seen him post Tara 👀.....unless it's from a very long time ago.....

We are all (yes even I having only been here for two years) familiar with the way she loves to cling to him and show how she is associated to him by clinging onto him in photos

I had mentioned a long time ago how even from afar this dynamic seemed intensely unhealthy/toxic and how much she also loves to troll the fandom for attention just as much as Smellba🐟 and Trashbin🗑️ seem to, even in the same manner, birds of a feather I guess 🤷‍♀️, or maybe just the last of the rotten fruit 🍎🍏

I do often wonder if this is due to her own failed attempts at establishing an acting career of her own after studying theatre, having Jenna take some "artsy" shots for her "photography page"

Only ever managing to be someone else's PA (did Christopher not trust her enough to be his own, oh right he chose Josh 😘) and instead has just clung for life to the side of his gravy train for the scraps falling off the side

Scott may have to deal with being in Christophers shadow somewhat because of his successes but at least he's out there trying to work at establishing his OWN space.

I've mentioned before that I have my own set of Gibbs life rules, what follows are three that I think could apply here:

"Trust is maintained not earned"

People change and grow, sometimes they strengthen ties, and sometimes they drift and break apart for a reason.

You need to learn to recognise when it's time to let go of the things and people that no longer serve you or allow you the space to grow.

This one has been a difficult lesson for me personally. It took me far longer than it should have to realise some people in my life didn't value me the same way I valued them. Once I distanced myself I was able to make my own peace and stop lighting myself on fire to keep them fed.

I'm never really sure how to sell myself, or rather garner interest to a fandom that has yet to really be established. But it's a small and wholesome group that I adore regardless. And I hope one day it will grow, because these goons have been the serotonin ride that's gotten me out of many tough spots time and time again. I'm finally in the position to slowly migrate my stuff from KoFi onto Ao3, and the reason I'm doing so is because KoFi outside of just being tipped doesn't really assist much for writers. I've lost many one-shot series because their blogging system does not allow to track posts by calendar dates like other spaces. But that's a personal rant for another time. That said, while I migrate my works to another site I still struggle to garner interest for some things I worked hard to write, even with having created a fandom tag for my very own family. And I know some things take time, but on the same token it still feels discouraging to a lesser degree. Namely because I'm not really sure just how to get people interested? If you're looking for wholesome and queer to read, I would be happy to present the following:

"Happy Birthday, Rose!" is a piece dedicated to Camp Boolieve's very own plant-loving gremlin. It's short, and to the point. More or less a birthday present I wrote for Rose's player. Some minor revisions were done to this when migrating it from my KoFi page, seeing as this was written before the series concluded. Now it holds a bit more accuracy. I would recommend this one specifically if you've listened to our playthrough, as there is a reference to a very specific episode.

"Hoodie" is a canonical piece written for the sake of gay fluff. It was written either right as Camp Boolieve was ending or immediately after? Or like right before our last episode? I can't quite remember exactly, but I wanted to write an important bit of how Abel likes to take Willy's hoodies. I did have to edit some things as I was nowhere near where I was when this got written. And while it's not perfect, it's still cute enough to sate those looking for fluff. Because we do love fluff.

A more spicy tale. "Merry Christmas, I Could Care Less [Unless]" is the Christmas piece I was posting about back in November/December. My group finally helped me deliver this live back in January. They also convinced me to put it up on Ao3. So with that, I added in some spicier bits that we could not deliver on Twitch. :) This canonical piece does have some trigger warnings to it, but I'm really happy with it. It was not fun to format when transferring it over there, but it's still something I'm proud of. And it's only part one! The rest of the tale will not be delivered until later this year. I had to split it into two parts as there was no way we'd be able to read the whole thing otherwise.

So if you're looking for a longer piece with a little bit of spice, then I would gladly suggest this one. Also if you're able to count all the FOB references in this one, then I will virtually give you a cookie. If you want a slightly less spicier version, you can listen to the stream on our VOD channel below [I am sorry in advance for the audio quality...]. I just wanna have a little natter about hosegate because its beloved for me in this fandom, one of the first things i really fought tooth and nail for, because to me it was fun and actually made me laugh but also giggle and go 'Oop!' when i watched. also my art background means i am aware of historic phallic imagery, and while i can appreciate that many people wouldnt know about that per se, i didnt expect anyone to outright denounce it. if someone told me 'thats actually meant to be a penis' i would laugh and immediately prefer that to whatever it was before hahahaha. plus people have dirty minds, especially young people, its fun and i've never seen anyone say 'stop' unless its a teacher, so i was confused about why people didnt want hosegate to be real. but also, you know that basically every skyscraper is a phallic symbol, right? men have been competing to build the biggest building since time immemorial. there's even a joke about this in shrek of all movies. 'do you think he's compensating for something?'

so yeah i loved that shot, and while i wasn't exactly scouring the show for easter eggs on my first watch, i definitely dropped down to a lower fuzzy brain state while watching the back end of s4. i was so overwhelmed by everything going on that my brain kind of lost track of the big A plot and settled into this dreaming/waking feeling, and i started taking in the minor things instead of the Big Things. Hence, picking up on the hose scene, mainly because that shot of mike is incriminating AF. you don't even need the metaphor of will turning mike on (though it works well considering the specific shape of the tap itself, very penis + testes-like, could have been any other kind off tap but no?) - i think it works well enough to simply suggest that will is sexually attracted to mike. will has been in love all season but this shot cements his physical attraction to mike: the shot is from will's pov; mike is essentially standing there holding his dick in his hand and will is ogling him, seeing him in a new light, and we the audience have a front row ticket to Kneeling In Front Of Mike Wheeler, where will wishes he was. Could easily have shot mike as if from will's pov, that too would have looked sus, although much more like standing next to a dude at a urinal. this shot, as is, is... wild actually. because somehow we're on our knees inside the freezer. VERY specific sequence.

and what's not to love? love me a phallic symbol haha. it's a powerful thing in art.

so yeah, will is in love and sexually attracted to mike. this itself is revelatory for s4, narrative-wise. loved loved loved it. and i think we will get mike's pov version of being attracted to will in s5 with all his other reveals, but i'm happy with hosegate being just for our boy Will.

ALL OF THIS! Hosegate is only a gate because people argued about it because some babies managed to watch the show and decided sex is bad. Boo. "I don't believe in hosegate" pedantic, but a gate is a gate in this fandom as lore/theoretical debate or fandom prominence. The scene literally happened! Fighting over it being or not being a sexual reference is the thing, but that's so boring - it just is. Being uncomfortable with that is a personal issue. Take some self reflection!

Anyway, being silly ��� The Reference as I'll call it. Though there are many in the show (the way Will holds the painting in the van, the drill in shop class, etc.) It's very much about Will as much as Mike, I skipped over that part which you've detailed wonderfully. It's so sad the things people want to ignore to satisfy their agenda of personal discomfort with themselves - it's a show about teenagers but done through quite the intriguing lens of the literal horrors as actual horror. But it's about puberty and coming of age and sexual discovery. Especially for Will. To a point, blatantly about Will. The Reference is very much about his attraction to Mike.

He's a gay teenage boy. I forget the statistic, but some insane figure of how often sex or topics about sex flash through the mind of a teenage boy? It's wild. It's true. Hormones are insane. So of course The Reference is gonna happen, he's probably thinking it! Can we imagine for a second the agony this boy was in, besides all the other stuff going on, with Will already being kind of bottled up and uptight in guarded personality, tye the subject of his love and lust is back in his life, in the flesh, right there. He can touch him, see him, smell him. Will must have been going out of his mind internally. Mike Mike Mike.

All of that to say - love is good, great, important. The future for Byler is going to be about love. But... it's also gotta have the physical angle. That's the determining, differential angle. There's passion and arousal built into their feeling for each other. Something you can see with every other couple in the show, gay or straight. Chemistry. Desire. Attraction. As Steve rightly put it - sexual electricity 😉

It's one of the rare (ironically) ships where both parties could end up genuinely happy together, despite horrific circumstances lmao. Why in the world isn't it more popular? Simple answer? People have no taste and can't read between lines. 😤

no cause exactly. i tweeted something similar a few months ago about how people go wild for disney fairytales but not this. especially since at the time, the new little mermaid movie had just come out and everyone on twitter was losing their minds over it. people love a good fairytale, so it's surprising that leshley/eagleone gets this much hate. like the reply to the tweet said, it's probably a matter of other shippers not wanting to change their mind because unfortunately, people are very intense when it comes to ships!! you either have to be all in or fuck off, which to me sounds like a ridiculous way to approach shipping in media. so that's the first reason why, and arguably a dumb one too, because when it comes to franchises that are not going to give you romance outright, like RE, there is no need to invest this much energy into a ship. it's not like there is a ship war to be won, at least not in my eyes.

the second reason is the whole age gap thing. since the loudest part of fandoms is populated by literal teenagers who apply high school logic to both fiction and real life adult situations and a teenager thinks it is wrong for a 14 year old to date an 18 year old (and they'd be right, because age gaps matter greatly as a teenager, due to puberty and the various experiences you either get or do not get at a certain age), they automatically think that any and all age gaps between adults are wrong. UNLESS it's people who are their parents' age. i've seen it happen a lot on tiktok, where kids would be like "you can't ship them, they have a 7 year age gap" and someone would inevitably reply "but my mom is 35 and my dad is 42". so they'd be forced to acknowledge that "yeah, but it's different in your case, they're old enough" (???) because you're not gonna tell a stranger online that their parents' relationship is "morally wrong" (though, honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if someone did).

teenagers, as well as teenagers fresh out of high school, are convinced that your early twenties are the direct follow-up to your high school experience. that is straight-up not true. as soon as you get to 20, everyone you know will be in radically different places in life. i mean, i have friends who are already engaged, some who have never been in a relationship, and i know someone from high school who had a child at 19 and got married right after. to them, maturity can only be gained much later in life, like in your thirties, because their parents are around that age, or because that's when people start to have kids these days. maybe i'm wrong. but that's how i see it.

and that's when they start to resort to the sibling coded thing lmao. and if you look at tweets or tiktoks about leon and ashley's dynamic (not framed in a romantic manner), everyone will go out of their way in the comments to make sure that it's known that THEY VIEW THEM AS SIBLINGS GUYS. like the average reply will be "THEY'RE SO SIBLINGS" or "MY FAVOURITE SIBLINGS" which makes me throw up in my mouth a little. like okay, we get it. you don't ship them and you think no one should either. no need to be flamboyant about it.

and then as you mentioned, there's also the fact that people can't read between the lines, or maybe they don't want to. when i played RE4R, i didn't pay attention to leon and ashley that much because i was too focused on the game itself hahahaha. my primary takeaway was that they had a great, supportive dynamic, and then i'd noticed a few moments like ashley flirting with leon about the armour, or leon's fingers trailing down ashley's arm for no reason on the bed in chapter 13, or leon's weirdly boyish and bashful tone when he says "can you make it down? i can catch you" (seriously. he tried to make this into an incentive and i'm not sure who it benefitted more, him or ashley). after seeing some eagleone content and analyses, i was like hang on a sec... there is something there. i will admit that i personally suck at flirting, or at recognising it for that matter, unless i try really hard. i mean, a guy once tried to get my number with a magic trick, and my only response was that he didn't logically need my number to tell me what my card was, and he could tell me right there and the trick would be the same. like no shit girl. you're fucking dense LMAO. but that's just a me thing. when you really start paying attention, leon and ashley's flirting gets pretty obvious.

i've also seen people argue that ashley's crush on leon is "innocent" and she just views him as a hero so that's why she thinks she likes him. you know, because a 20-year-old woman can't make decisions for herself. she doesn't know any better. obvious sarcasm. in wanting to protect (young) women, people are starting to shelter them to the point where we're going backwards towards (male) guardianship.

i do my best to. more often than i'd like i chicken out for fear of managing to say something that comes across as offensive or annoying, but i appreciate every single one.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

i consider plenty of my writing to contain angst, but i typically end on at least a slim note of hope, so my search for an angsty ending was surprisingly difficult. i would say the most impactful one to qualify is fac fortia et patere, because it ends in the midst of Smaug's beseiging of Lake-Town, with only the omniscient position of knowing key events of AaOT as a whole to promise the characters survive it. (and technically Alphes doesn't without serious injury, so i say it counts).

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

a hard choice, because unless it's complete unhindered fluff, my fics usually end with breathing room. hope, and achievement of a goal, but not quite bliss. in that light i say sunkissed, because it exists purely to be sweet romance between an adoring couple that achieve their mutual goal of a perfect first kiss. and if that's not happy, i don't know what is 😁

Do you write crossovers?

write, not yet. think about and plan, often enough. usually RWBY or Pokémon, as both have been with me since i was single-digits old. Inheritance Cycle has definitely crossed my mind at least twice as well. oh, and even Power Rangers!

hm, not that i recall. most of what i write is very niche so there's not a very high ratio of nice readers to spiteful ones. if you click on one of my fics, it's because you want to read it.

over the past few years i've noticed a decline in the intensity of my interest in ships. i'll always stand tall as a whiterose truther, though 🫡 until the end.

i like to think i'll eventually scrape together conclusions for all of them. there's probably a number floating around from old fandoms, but there's always the potential to rekindle an interest. the path of life is a mystery.

dialogue, and environment descriptions. dialogue has always come easier to me than what i've heard from other writers, and is often the first step i need to take to break the ice on a blank page. but i thrive just as much in the quiet moments where dialogue drops away and the world is left to speak.

...um, actually finishing things 😅 i really need to learn my lesson that as many times as i try, multi-chapter/long-form fics don't work for me. i am a oneshot guy through and through. it's an achievement just to drag myself over that finish line. i like writing, i promise, i just... lose motivation rather quickly. hand in hand with that, it takes a long time to actually finish fics.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i love writing it and reading it!!! big fan!!! i try to dial it back because i'm conscious it can make fics harder to read and turn off someone who might otherwise like my writing, though. for all the small lexicons i add to make it accessible, it isn't easy to disrupt the flow to inform. i have to remind myself that my happiness to persevere isn't always shared. that said, i can rarely resist sneaking a few words in, especially terms of endearment or curses in a character's native language.

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

Inheritance Cycle, a book series by Christopher Paolini. i can't tell you how instrumental it was in creating the person i am today. i know when i was young i wrote something for it, but i've since tried to dig it up and it's long gone. i have vague memories of what it was about, so i'd like to give it another shot someday.

What's your favorite fic you've written?

ad meloria, without a doubt. i consider it my current magnum opus. it was the culmination and payoff of so much within AaOT, and i think sums up my identity as a writer pretty well.
