Don't Get SAD Plan

I was starting to think maybe it was time and then I realised today is the equinox so: northern hemisphere friends, this is your official handover of the sun. Look after her, we want her back in a few months. you can ignore the rest of this post

but for those of us in the Glorious Southern Hemisphere: time to beat the SAD sads!

my plan encompasses 3 domains: figure out what to revel in in the season, create things to look forward to, and also cover the basics: food, move your body, vitamin D. The specifics are slightly different to last year (the first time I made an official plan) but the domains remain the same.

This year's plan for me:

spend time outside first thing in the morning

fairy lights go UP when daylight savings kicks in

sit around the fireplace (big win of this year: I have a fireplace) with fancy hot chocolates (I reserve the really good, melt your own dark chocolate style hot chocolates for the winter months)

daily walk

knit a sweater (this is the same sweater as last year)

find or make at least 1-2 cozy winter-only outfits (non-knit)

find mulled wine/cider occasions

plan a holiday in July/August

Everyone else in this hemisphere is very welcome to join me in a don't get SAD plan! (Name optional, I just find the acronym entertaining.) I did come up with it myself but based on conversations with an excellent psychologist when I was in the throes of my SAD the previous year, and it really truly made a difference

Game that's a dating sim/time management style game, but you don't date anyone (or at least if you do, dating isn't the point). The premise is that you've gotten a new entry level job in your dream career in a town that's WAY too expensive for you to live in with zero available rentals, but due to a stroke of amazing luck and a distant family connection, you're able to score a rental in a nice community for a price you can just about handle. The catch is that you have to join the homeowner's association. Your landlord is distant, but expects you to keep in line with the HOA or get evicted.

The game consists of carefully managing your out-of-work time to keep up with the HOA's increasingly stringent list of rules about the appearance and maintenance of your property. If you don't spend enough time on yardwork and maintenance, you'll start to get violation warnings, but you also need to go to community events to avoid getting on the other members' shitlists and making enemies who'll look more critically at your property. You can buy leeway if you spend time schmoozing the other HOA people, helping them with crises, and siding with the more powerful figures in disputes. Your dream career is a background event in your life, focused more on keeping a roof over your head, but if you skip work to tend to HOA stuff you risk getting fired, and conversely if you put in extra hours and do really well you can get bonuses which you can use to pay a professional gardener or housekeeper and free up some more time. The power dynamic in the HOA can change, so be careful putting all your eggs in one basket relationship-wise lest your friends be on the outs and your enemies start looking for ways to get rid of you. But if you change your alleigances too often, you'll get a reputation as a fair weather friend, which can be equally dangerous. Getting too close to someone who ends up in a scandal could tarr you with an equally scandalous reputation, but you won't know what scandals are going on in the neighbourhood . Getting evicted or fired are both, of course, loss conditions, but showing up for work and [honing it in isn't too hard; you've always wanted to work at... uh... whatever it is that you're doing again. Never mind that. The most important thing in your life is making sure that the grass in the front lawn doesn't grow more than half an inch above the prescribed length.

SimWardrobe's Candy Crafting Station with Parsimonious Chocolate Boxes

I saw a reblog of @pixeldolly's recolored chocolate boxes for SimWardrobe's candy crafting station and I had a sudden urge to take it even further. I also just hit 200 followers so this can be my followers' gift, too!

The candy crafting station allows your sims or their employees to make five different types of chocolates and pack them in boxes for resale at an owned business. Each flavor has a different effect when a sim consumes them. You'll find it under Appliances/Misc for $5,000.

I changed the objects crafted at the station from the boxes of chocolate based on the pizza object, to the boxes from Parsimonious' For the Love of Chocolate set.

I also added hobby enthusiasm to the machine and the chocolates and added special bonuses for the sim that eats them.

The five types of chocolates are: Milk Chocolate: satisfies hunger, no special effect Dark Chocolate: increases fun and hunger Mint Chocolate: increases comfort and hunger Ginger Chocolate: increases energy and hunger Extra Dark Chocolate: increases hunger and adds love potion effect (eating disabled for children and toddlers)

I'm really excited that I got this to work and I think it's really fun, so I hope that you all will like it as much as I do. :)

Notes on the candy crafting station:

I did not change the GUID of the Sim Wardrobe station, so you can't have both in your downloads folder at the same time.

Sims gain cooking skill when making candy. (You must have the comm-skilling hack from MATY to gain skills on community lots.)

On an owned business lot, candy will go into the business owner's inventory.

New: Sims gain cuisine hobby enthusiasm when making candy.

New: Candy output changed to chocolate boxes from Parsimonious. (see below)

New: Changed icons on the machine from fruit to ones that match the "ingredients" of the different chocolates. Icons were created by FreePik at flaticon.com. They're crunchy up close, but I decided I could live with them. The originals were pretty crunchy too.

Notes on the chocolate boxes:

The chocolate objects were created by Kate at parsimonious.com. Polycount: 904

Sims will use the snacking animations when eating the chocolates. There is no half-empty or empty state. Sims will throw the box away when finished. If a sim lays the object down after picking it up, it will be turned on its side. Eating can be resumed if it is not empty.

Placing objects on displays using moveobjects on may cause the item to disappear after restocking. Turning off the cheat before placement or placing the chocolates in the Decra-Chill display seems to fix this issue.

These objects have new GUIDs, and can be used along with the original and its recolors.

Eating these chocolates will decrease fitness rather quickly, same as snacking on chips/cookies.

NEW: Sims gain cuisine hobby enthusiasm while eating.

NEW: Sims no longer burp while eating the chocolates.

since twitter has become actively hostile to its users, so they came to tumblr, and reddit has become actively hostile to its users, so they came to tumblr, what do we do now that tumblr is becoming (more) actively hostile to its users? i���ve been here for over a decade so i know tumblr users are the type to cling on despite everything and revel in undoing every change, but i’m so tired of the way this website breaks the way it fundamentally works in order to appeal to new users. the twitterfication of the site seems so much worse than when people jumped ship after the porn ban, and even then, only small communities (and twitter) cropped up as solutions. you might not be the person to ask for a definitive answer, but i figured a tech blog might be interested in considering - what do we do when there’s nowhere left to go?

Okay so, I mean this very seriously: how has tumblr meaningfully become like twitter?

I don't personally find the sidebar view obnoxious and it seems to me like just another layout change that's pretty typical to tumblr. New users are getting signed up with a bit more emphasis on algorithmic feeds, but that is still very easy to change (MUCH easier than on any other social platform) and the algorithm has been there for everyone for quite a while, we just typically don't notice it because a lot of long-term tumblr users don't go into the "for you" feed.

I don't think that tumblr *has* fundamentally broken the way that it works to appeal to new users. My dash now is still very much like my dash in 2019, and still very much like my dash in 2018 (though much less pornographic). Reblogs are still reblogs, likes are still likes. Replies, for all that they seem like they've been around forever, are new and good and I think they work well. I'm irritated that the notes menu doesn't have a "view all" option but I think that's a worthwhile tradeoff for an easy way to see tags.

I *do not* understand why tumblr has broken linking back to previous reblogs but I don't think that's out of an effort to act like twitter; it is a bizarre choice that I dislike and don't understand but I also don't think that it has fundamentally changed the way the site works and i mean you've been around long enough that I'm sure you've had the same experience I have of going into the notes of a post and randomly clicking until you found a version that you wanted to reblog without a bunch of bullshit at the bottom. Tumblr has always kind of sucked, this change DOES suck but it doesn't suck in a way that is particularly novel or insurmountable. (For instance, I think this change sucks MUCH LESS than when they made posts with links invisible to the search, that is something that is genuinely bad that has been long lasting but doesn't get brought up much in lists of the ways that tumblr has gone wrong)

Tumblr *is* changing, but I think it is changing more incrementally and less terribly than other parts of the internet. I also hate the floating clown, the login walls, the dash-only view for blogs (you can't archive it and I HATE that), and - to an extent - the new lightbox on mobile. And I dislike that less than I thought I would but I don't think it's a fundamental change that necessarily impacts my interactions with the site - it *adds* a feature that I don't care for but it doesn't *break* anything that I require to have a good time on tumblr - in that way I think of it very much like Live. People hate Live so much and I find that perplexing because it is so easy to simply ignore it.

But that's not really your question; that's just some stuff I want people to think about because as much as tumblr has changed in the last two years it is nowhere near as fucked up as the recent things that twitter and reddit have pulled.

So, as to your question: where do we go?

Well. Not to be an extremely old person on the internet, but damned if I don't miss email lists. And forums. God I miss forums. Neither of those things has all the bonuses of platforms like twitter or reddit or tumblr or facebook, but they were great ways to hang out with people you liked on the internet.

The internet is changing. I can feel it, you can feel it, I'm pretty sure we're all like cattle in a field lifting our noses and hearing some distant rumbling and becoming slowly aware that it's almost time to run. There's a coming stampede and it isn't here yet but you know it's on its way. You're not imagining that, that's how things feel right now and there are a shitload of things contributing to it.

Things like SESTA/FOSTA and KOSA (which has not passed yet but is a big red flag waving on the horizon) have been eroding away the way that users on various platforms can function. Some platforms have consolidated in ways that harm users; some new platforms have popped up and shaken up the map of the internet; some platforms are being torn apart brick by brick by owners who don't care about the users. It kind of seems like people are actually looking up and realizing that advertising is A) bad and B) doesn't actually work and I think we're running straight toward another advertising-based crash like we saw in 2017. It feels like all the desperate things that tumblr is doing is just rearranging deck chairs on the titanic as the internet as a whole starts to sink into the ocean.

Honestly, I don't think it's that bad. I think it *feels* bad, but I think we're looking at a slow whimpering death of the platforms, not a bang. I think tumblr is going to hang on at least for a few years and I think it's going to end up like livejournal and myspace, which both still exist as websites that are recognizable as updated versions of the sites they were in 2004-2010. The thing that I think would really, honestly hurt tumblr in a fundamental way is if it moved to a more algorithmic and data-sales based model of advertising, and I think that's still pretty distant. I think Automattic is aware that killing the chronological feed would be the one unforgivable sin that would cause a mass exodus and a final crash, and I think when we see that, when we can't just scroll through the feed and see what our friends did that day in order of when they did it, that's when the party is over here.

But that's still not answering your question.

So, where do we go? What do we do? Well, for now, I'd say it's a good time to get contact info for your friends across various platforms. Get email addresses, get phone numbers.

Now is also the time for you to set up a personal website. NeoCities is currently the best place to do this, though it takes a lot more effort than just starting a blog on tumblr. I think that various oldschool blogging sites like Wordpress and Blogger/Blogspot/whatever the hell the google one is are a better place to have your emergency backup than a more platform-y platform if you aren't up to doing something with NeoCities.

If you've got the ability to do so and a group of people who are interested in the same core subject, set up a forum. There's a decent amount of off-the-shelf forum software out there and a text-and-small-images forum isn't prohibitively expensive, but it's never going to be huge and you're never going to have the kind of spread and virality and random connections that you would on a platform with millions or billions of users.

If you can't set up a forum, setting up or joining a discord server for your friends is a decent enough option at the moment, and may be a very good option for people who are looking to keep their interactions more private.

But yeah i think right now is a great time for people to start setting up their own personal websites, to start visiting actual webpages again, to start bookmarking their friends' websites, and to start collecting contact info that isn't tied to platforms.

Pisses me off that people insist on calling Drifter a rat (slur) when 'viper' is literally right there. Like, if you want an animal-based insult that amounts to someone being cunning and sneaky and untrustworthy despite that not fitting the actual animal at all, then that's an alternative that's far more generalized. Plus there's the added bonuses of:

1.) It's literally his sigil. Gambit is snake-themed. There's snake stuff all over it, even moreso than hunter stuff (despite our sigils literally having snakes). Like, hello

2.) Vipers are typically very big on the whole 'don't be seen, if seen, bluff about how big and scary and mean you are, then bite as a last resort (or unless stepped on, in which case bite first)'. That's Drifter. Drifter's whole shtick was that his 'I'm a bad guy I'm gonna do illegal shit with you ooohhh watch out I'm the Drifter' thing was all an act to keep people at bay bc he's actually a sweet, caring fellow who's scared of being hurt. Most vipers are typically fairly chill, inquisitive snakes whose awful bite is only given after a hell of a lot of bark. It fits

3.) Jumping off the previous point, vipers give live birth and are one of the snakes with the most complex parental care and social structures that we currently know of- rattlesnakes recognize friends and blood family, gather together in communal denning sites, babysit their relative's neonates, and form (what seems to be) some mode of either mutual tolerance or friendship with garter snakes (another communally denning species). They're an animal with a scary look and reputation that are actually quite gentle and fearful despite their dangerous bite. Again, that's Drifter-coded

You really don't need to use a slur to begin with tbh but like, if you really need affectionate insults for funny dialogue or w/ever, there's alternatives out there that work just as well without the racism. You don't need some long-winded, contrived excuse

I love how inclusivity is handled in The Dragon Prince, here's why.

In most shows, as much as it bothers me to admit so, some people are right, inclusivity does feel forced sometimes. But it's not the characters' fault, it's not because of them being part of the lgbtq+ community, or being disabled, or being POC, or being strong women who do not conform to patriarchal standards.

It's not that.

It's that the show they are part of is a straight, white, abled parade - and notice, most of said shows won't even pass the Bechdel test.

So yes, in a show written by and aimed to straight, white, abled people, even I, a gay, non-binary, chronically ill person feel weird seeing charcters that are there just for the sake of inclusivity, albeit 'inorganic'.

In a show with the premise of "straight, white, abled men are the indiscussed MCs", seeing that one side-character that stands out and is often ridiculed and/or reduced to a single trait of their 'personality', such as 'the gay one', 'the asian one', 'the disabled one' (etc) is upsetting and feels uncomfortable as hell.

But TDP is different.

They immediately introduced powerful women, people of color, characters that are openly part of the lgbtq+ community, disabled characters etc. And not one of them per 'category', no. For the lgbtq+ community we have Amaya, Janai, Runaan, Ethari, Terry, Kazi. For the disabled community, we have Amaya again, Villads, and even a disabled wolf Ava. For the POC community, we have literally half of the cast, starting from King Harrow, then Ezran, every sunfire elf, Terry as well, etc. Same goes for women, who take up on roles that are rarely considered 'for women', like Opeli being the main member of the High Council, Amaya being the General, Rayla being the main Dragon Guard, Claudia being one of the main antagonists, etc.

Both main and side-characters are part of the communities, everything is so much more organic, enjoyable, thrilling.

We do not come in 'minor quantity'.

We are everywhere, among others, living our lives, doing our best, existing, thriving, proud. It's not just one or two of us among thousands. Surprise, 'categories' can mix! Just like I, a real human being, can be gay, enby as well as chronically ill, we can have characters like that as well! Amaya being lesbian and disabled, Terry being black and trans, Janai being black and lesbian, etc. And, another surprise, 'categories' don't define us. We don't 'shove it' in anyone's face like they say we do, we're just being us and cishets are upset because we don't conform to their sick standards.

Inclusivity is organic in TDP because nobody in that universe questions anyone else's color, gender, orientation, etc. And it's organic because we didn't have to wait half a season to see a black character, or a disabled character, or a gay character.

The key to inclusivity is to realise that we aren't just 'bonuses'. Fill shows and comics with lgbtq+, POC, disabled, and female characters. Not just one every 15, 20 characters. Everywhere.

We are everywhere! We are proud! We deserve to be seen! We deserve to be depicted as the normal people we are, without diminishing our traits but without making them our whole personality either. Treat us like human beings, be considerate like you should be with everyone on the planet of course, but treat us like humans.

Antagonising people who are 'different' (in the mind of straight, white, abled people) will not suppress us. We will keep insisting until you hear us. It's literally one of the main messages, one of the main teachings of TDP and it's so damn important.

Every single person on Earth should watch it. Every single kid should be introduced to TDP at an early age. Every old bigot should watch it, as well. Everybody. Even if it's considered a y7 (y10 for s4 and s5 apparently) show, everyone, no matter their age, should give it a try and watch it thoroughly.

Please, please remember that in this pro-democracy chess game, time is on our side and, most importantly, the law is on our side. We have to let MAGA implode, fester, and rot until there's no real MAGA support for a civil war or another insurrection; and that structural degradation is happening loud and clear every day; and it's being fueled, fed, and accelerated by orange Thanos' stupidity, ignorance, corruption, and tyranny.

How is time on our side?

Anti-trump American women are divorcing their MAGA husbands for voting against their and their children's, even their own daughter's, lives, human and civil rights, and their futures.

Anti-trump voters are kicking every trump voter in their lives to the curb and cutting them off from holiday gatherings.

MAGA voters are learning that they and their basic survival needs are in the crosshairs for elimination and extermination.

MAGA voters are learning that all of their costs are going up due to trump tariffs.

MAGA voters are losing their holiday bonuses and jobs due to trump tarifs.

The U.S. military is learning donald trump is going to declare a state of emergency and send them into American cities who don't want them there, where the local Democrat governor and their state National Guard is going to be ready to literally combat them to protect that state from trump's tyranny.

All immigrants, legal or not, are learning the hard way they're all going to be denaturalized, gathered up by the U.S. military, put into concentration camps, and disposed of via deportation or otherwise.

MAGA business owners are learning the hard way that their businesses are being shunned and their and their employees' futures aren't looking so great.

The insane MAGA cabinet appointments for the trump administration have MAGA voters pushing back.

The more MAGA overplays its hand in Congress, the more Democratic Leaders Schumer and Jeffries are going to realize they and the Democrat party have no other survival options than to force a Section 3/14A vote to disqualify donald trump from ever holding federal office again.

The more MAGA promises political prosecutions and imprisonments of pollsters and political activists, executions of federal and state prosecutors who've investigated and prosecuted them, and the more MAGA promises to shut down media outlets such as NBC, ABC, and CBS for not making Kamala Harris look bad enough, or not making trump and MAGA look good enough, and the more MAGA clarifies the American public will have no way to communicate and stay informed via the internet or social media, and have access to pro-democracy and anti-trump/anti-MAGA content, the more anti-trump and even trump voters are going to be willing to contact their representatives to protect their rights and freedoms.

Tomorrow, November 19th, is the official two-week mark since the election; and we're only just starting to see some of the final vote counts across the USA. Once all of that counting is done, the nationwide canvas and individual voter ballot confirmations, the checking of the final vote count against the total amount of voters, scrutinizing the vote and looking for any irregularities, investigating and challenging any potential election fraud, individual voter ballot curing/correction so that every vote is counted, and any and all recounts and challenges to the actual vote counts of all races will occur so that the national vote can be certified, and the Electoral College can vote and issue their official certificates on December 17, 2024. Remember, 33% of Republicans and 33% of Independents said they'd never vote for trump, 60% to 80% of the United States said they wouldn't vote for donald trump because he's too old, American women made it clear they weren't voting for him, Puerto Ricans said they'd be throwing him in the trash, Black and Jewish voters said they weren't voting for him, and yet the majority of all of those voters, along with abortion initiative voters, and Democrat voters who voted for all down-ballot Democrats, allegedly all voted for donald trump, anyway. The next stages of election certification will verify who actually voted for trump, and who didn't, so the next several weeks could get very interesting!

Every day that I post the trump disqualification reminder is a day that more people are engaging, fighting, sharing the information with everyone they know here on Tumblr and elsewhere, contacting Democratic Leaders Schumer and Jeffries, and contacting Marc Elias and Democracy Docket and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington to finally stop another donald trump presidency via Congress and the Electoral College. Time and the law is on our side! it's time now. it's time to imagine the brightest future you can, and talk about it.

a future where people only work 8 hours a week and everyone's basic needs are met. a future where we are more connected to nature and eat seasonal, local produce. a future where you look out for your neighbours and they look out for you. a future where you actually know who your neighbours are. a future where everyone is just a lot more relaxed and able to do whatever they want to do - this 8 hour working week has given people their lives back and now they're able to make community events, work in community gardens, sing and dance and spend time with their kids, play whatever sport they want, travel, read, create art and music.

People are interacting with each other in good faith again because money as an ulterior motive has all but disappeared. Cus you see a few decades ago they made profits illegal. All money has to be put back into the company and CEOs can take home a salary only, no bonuses and it can't be more than 3x what the lowest paid employee makes. You can go to jail if your company is found to make profits, advertise on a large scale or pay its high ranking members more than what's allowed.

Jail still exists but mostly people go in for financial crimes (greed still exists); drugs are decriminalised and available to use safely. people are not as desperate now so there's been a massive reduction of violent and petty crime and most of the people who still do this are teenagers who get away with a slap on the wrist. police are not armed anymore and are heavily penalised if they abuse their power or hurt a civilian, and their role is more that of mediator, signposter (to community services, social services, and free and accessible healthcare including for mental health) and security. together with the former military they make up an "emergency task force" which are called upon in times of need and crisis, for floods, fires, other such disasters.

the stock market completely collapsed after profits were made illegal and people had to find other ways to figure out what a company was worth: such as how they treat their staff or how accessible their processes are. as a result of this, as well as more widespread disability thanks to Covid and an ageing population, accessibility is fucking incredible now. most places are accessible to the vast majority of disabled people even without them having to ask for a single thing. If they have to ask, accommodations are made quickly and without fuss and this is completely normal now. disabled people are more visible than ever in public life and this has led to a generally kinder, more tolerant public life.

Everything is slower now. Social media as we know it died decades ago and Internet 4.0 is efficient, will find you accurate answers and the websites you're looking for very easily and fast. there's monopoly laws restricting how large companies operate online. online ads are all but illegal - there's "phone book" esque pages where you can promote your business or service and that's allowed but not anywhere else. Lots of people are still annoying and some of them are still cruel but overall living together as humans has gotten so much more chill. We've tackled climate change and reversed much of it, now it's a global day of mourning whenever a species is found to be extinct through human intervention. these days used to happen much more frequently but it's very rare these days. Most everyone gets the day off and is encouraged to read about the lost species or hold themed funerals. Globally everything has gotten better - there's much more global equality now after a bunch of western/formerly colonising countries almost self destructed and then instead decided to own up for colonialism, pay reparations to a lot of countries in Africa Asia and Latin America, as well as indigenous nations of North America, Oceania, even in Europe. The USA doesn't exist anymore instead its a whole host of separate nations all managed by the native people whose land it is. The UK doesn't exist anymore. England is still sad about it but Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Cornwall are called Cymru, Alba, Eire and Kernow again and they've formed a Celtic Union for better collective bargaining power in the EU (which still exists, somehow. Its better now. England may still be out of the EU I'm not sure). Migration is common and foreigners are welcomed into any country with open arms.

I may try to write something about this. I have a vision for a future and it's so lovely. Here, on earth, with the starting point being now. We have a lot to work with and only a few changes could make such a difference. Demilitarisation, UBI and maximum working hours, greedy financial practices made illegal. Conservation and education on local plants and nature and food. Community building on every level. Giving people their lives back.

This is all extremely possible. A bit of disclaimer: The way "s/i" isn't the typical. A Self Insert is usually the author putting themselves as a character.

In the MHA Community this is usally done through projecting ones personality through an existing character (ex: Midoriya)

The way I use S/I is a either:

A: A OC with knowledge or awareness of MHA's canon in some form (visions, reincarnation, intution) These characters are usually made up from a collection of different people and experiences, rather than just my own personhood.

A Character like Seven fit this bill.

B: S/I but Ingrained. Aka a S/I that blends and adapts to the world of MHA, their past self is not as relevant (if it's brought up at all) however may play a role in their perspectives and world views.

A Character like Arachne fits this bill (for another post)

I imagined them (her and Mido) here as friends who met halfway through middle school and have stuck together since.

Much like her quirk and namesake, Ryukka has a fiery disposition and doesn't take kindly to people* harassing her friend(s) (*read Bakugo)

She's one the only people at Aldera willing to stand up to him (her flames cause his quirk to overload)

7. How do you choose which POV to write from?

it comes to me in a vision /hj

no but in all seriousness when i come up with ideas for any kind of story (drabble, one shot, short fic, long fic, doesn't matter) they kind of come with a built in pov. i don't think there's ever been a time when i've struggled to come up with a character who i want to tell the story. i think a part of this has to do with the fact some semblance of conflict comes prepackaged with my ideas and conflict is always tied to a person for me.

like with my current short fic, the premise was always that sam was to have a struggle with the reality of being alone in x amount of time because i see sam as a very family/community oriented person. so i guess in this instance you can say my pov choices not only stem from the story idea itself, but the idea stems from some core aspect of a character and their personality.

Some throughs on moxxies relationships going forward.

I have already discussed how i think moxxie and millie will have a spat over the baby that stolitz will help resolve but as for his other relationships I would like to voice some theories of mine.

First off now that blitz is feeling a lot safer about being open he may begin to actually feel safe communicating with the little possum. Second we all know that moxxie and stolas are going to bond and let's face it they both need friends and as bonuses millie no longer has to sit through miserable French hogshit and the owl and the possum can show each other sides to blitz the other hasn't seen.

Further more while the so called critics of this show call moxxies origins a copy and past of blitzs I think this was done intentionally to show that despite what they or some others might think they really are more alike than different. Think about it between the need to be liked, the daddy issues, the dead mothers, the crossdressing, the artistic passion, the not being straight they really do have a lot in common they just have different circumstances and ways of coping, moxxie has a healthy relationship and blitz up until recently did not and where blitz could fake confidence moxxie during season one couldn't even pretend to be confident for the life of him. My point being that now that blitzs fear of getting close to people and being hurt/hurting others is lessened and moxxie grows bolder and subsequently no longer feels the need to pull others down to validate himself like he often did during his earlier appearances such as when he often was overly critical of blitz even when unprovoked and unhappy campers tried and failed to bring this up I can see them trauma bonding because now they can see each other as people rather than simply aannoyances..

Another thing is his relationship with loona which is similar to blitz mainly because loona is a lot like her adoptive father but she is a lot less experienced. Contrary to what some might say I don't think moxxie needs a lot more devoplment but instead what he needs is a big moment to SHOW his development. My boy blitz got his in mastermind by showing exactly what makes him the best leader for i.m.p and that is the fact he gives more though and care about his found family than the law or even himself blitz showed that when all is said and done he is always going to be the one to sacrifice everything for those he cares about and I think moxxie needs something similar that empathizes his strengths as a character.

What he needs is something where be gets to show off his strengths as a charater in a big way so let's list a few of his strengths. I've always seen moxxie as the best strategist out of all of i.m.p but was hindered by the fact that no one would listen to him and his lack of confidence. But now I believe that people might start actually listening to him because when moxxie actually pulls his head out of his frequently pegged ass he is likely the best of the team when it comes to planning and strategy. Another strengths of his is the fact he is probably the most willing to show emotional vulnerability because while blitz and millie can they work better as study foundations to ground yourself on while moxxie seems more like someone who can show you that he's been where you are if you get my drift but in my opinion moxxies greatest strength is actually what some would call his greatest weakness and that is the fact that everyone underestimates him, no matter how hard he tries moxxie just can't get people to take him seriously for better or worse but maybe he can use this to his advantage, because as long as people continue to think of him as a weak little coward he has the element of surprise and with it the ability to pull the rug out from much larger and stronger opponents.

This all brings me to my idea for a final showdown between moxxie and his father. Crimson manages to capture millie and loona and tries to bargain with their lives and the life of millies child and at first everything seems to be going well for crimson but then blitz springs out of nowhere starting the plan he actually let moxxie make and following it showing he trusts him after an epic battle crimson runs like the coward he is because let's face it when's the last time crimson directly fought anyone he knew would fight back? Just like how blitz is a better imp than his father ever was by creating his business by bringing people up rather than tearing them down like cash did moxxie is a far better imp than crimson will ever be because while moxxie may not be the most direct of imps he never tried to make anyone else do his job for him or hid behind others like crimson did and with one finaly badass one liner from moxxie crimson is poured a nice pair of concrete shoes and drowned in the same like moxxies mother died in. Bonus moxxie gets to bury the hatchet with loona by not taking up the opportunity to get her back for everything she said to him because he's matured beyond that and knows it wouldn't solve anything.

Benny's Gambit: Why Yes-Man sucks as the face of a Independent Vegas Route

So this has been on my mind for a good good long while now. So around two years ago during yet another playthrough of Fallout New Vegas I decided to, for the first time since that first playthrough on the 360, go down the Independent Route instead of going NCR like I always had. And I found myself greatly disappointed with what I found. So for those somehow unaware, the independent route of New Vegas begins when you off Benny in the Tops or in Caesar's Tent/Arena, and encounter a Securitron by the name of Yes-Man in Benny's closet at the Tops. There you learn that the reason behind your execution, the hunt for the Platinum Chip, was all for a way to take control of House's Securitron army. Something House himself will tell you when you first meet him shortly before or after entering the Tops. But there's another way to learn about it. . .from Benny himself. Where Benny offers to make you his agent, a mercenary, to help take New Vegas to new heights free from the autocracy of House and the predations of the NCR and Legion. A true independent Vegas where the Chairman direct the show and the others follow. Which isn't terrible, as it would solve one of the major issues with New Vegas as a whole and the Independent Route in particular. So before I get into that let me lay down the Yes-Man quote that had me infuriated with the Independent Route and what it ultimately represents. > So I should ask these tribes if they'll support an Independent Vegas? > " Oh no, I didn't mean that! Who needs their support? The Securitrons will be all the support you need! What I meant is, you should get to know these tribes and decide which ones you like and which you don't! You know - shape the future of Vegas! Choose your neighbors! If you like a tribe, leave it alone! Or if a tribe is nasty, or going to be a problem - go ahead and exterminate it! It's whatever you want to do!" The Yes-Man Independent Route isn't a route for a Independent Vegas, where you convince the tribes and settlements to back you and your move against both the colonizing NCR and also the autocratic House and Caesar, but instead if it is a power-fantasy. YOU get to decide who lives or dies in the coming Vegas, YOU get to make all the decisions for Vegas. It's not a independent route, you are a single man making a decision for thousands with no authority invested into you other then what you stole from other figures who WERE respected and accepted by their wider communities. But imagine a New Vegas where, you initially COULD take Benny up on his offer. > You'll get a sweet, juicy cut of that action. But until that day comes, I'll keep you on retainer, and pay bonuses for "special missions You go to the Families and convince them to help Benny overthrow House and keep their independence from any of the "finks" encroaching on their borders. You make a truce with the Khans by giving them free range over Western Vegas so long as they keep the roads safe. Make out a deal with the Brotherhood to repair the Securitrons in exchange for driving out the Van Graffs (with you possibly agreeing with the Brotherhood to discard of the Securitrons later with their help), and convince the Boomers to help through the vanilla quests. Convince Freeside, North Vegas, Westside and the Thorn, Jacobstown, to join with you. Have Benny only turn on you *towards the end* of the Yes-Man/Independent Route, that way when you take the reins from him the plot is already moving, the people of the Mojave ALREADY support what you are doing, and you can go forward from there. Where everyone supports you rather then just thinking that they are helping either the NCR or Legion only to be blindsided by you coming in INCLUDING your allies. There actually w

TLDR: Half my post got deleted so I'm rushing this along now before work, Yes-Man's Route sucks as a power fantasy because it IS just a power fantasy, Benny should have been the leader of the Independent Route, Have him turn on you later, still get Yes-Man as a personality, this way every settlement and tribe in the Mojave actually MATTER in regards to the Yes-Man route too.

Planar Scout (Ranger Archetype)

When one thinks of rangers and the planes beyond the material, one doesn’t typically make the leap in logic to combine them. After all, rangers live among nature, most typically the nature of the material universe. I mean, sure, technically you can pick a plane as your favored terrain, but it’s rarely anyone’s first choice unless the campaign is set on that plane and/or you’re speedrunning taking the Horizon Walker prestige class.

However, there are those that do in fact specialize in planar terrain, and more relevantly to today’s entry, those that draw power directly from their understanding of those planes.

Some may live in exotic communities on such planes, or may have become stranded there and forced to learn how to survive in such a strange environment that they were literally never adapted to biologically.

Regardless of the origins, these planar scouts become as intimately familiar with the nuances of surviving such locales as any ranger back on the material plane. (Which does beg the question of how or why the ranger doesn’t have to learn the tricks to survive in every single exotic biome the plane offers, as even supposed mono-environ planes like the elemental or energy planes have some variance in terrain if you go far enough, but that’s firmly in the realm of “Let’s not drag down the game with too much focus on the details.” Needless to say, the archetype does advise in a sidebar that you should break the incredibly vague “planes” favored terrain into multiple types based either on the individual planes or perhaps common threads and terrain types, such as crystalline caverns for certain parts of the elemental plane of earth plus some of the more rich spots in the underground of other planes.

So let’s take a look at what makes these scouts special.

Given their familiarity is not with mortal animals but those of the greater cosmos, it is unsurprising that these rangers express their empathy with extraplanar animals (and to a lesser extent true outsiders) in the same way that other rangers work with normal animals and magical beasts.

Naturally, these rangers only get to select different planar terrain types as they grow in power.

However, doing so doesn’t just provide the flat bonuses, for these rangers bond with a specific plane (most likely their earlier terrain choice) and gains a boon from doing so. This also infuses the ranger with the essence of the plane as well, meaning they also take on physical traits associated with the plane as well.

These boons take on many forms. Those that bond with a morally aligned plane would gain a blessing of guidance in combat against outsiders morally opposed to the plane, while those bonded to the astral get a short-ranged teleport. Those tied to the ether find their weapons can strike the incorporeal even if totally mundane, while those with links to the First World gain a limited healing factor. Those linked to the elemental planes gain anything from flight to the durability of rock to a flaming aura to becoming amphibious. Meanwhile, those tied to the shadow gain excellent nightvision and superior stealth. Naturally, this list isn’t perfectly comprehensive, but it does give a baseline for providing similar boons for the few planes that were not listed as well as any number of demiplanes.

Finally, these rangers also naturally have planar adaptation to their bonded plane and can even extend it to others, though they’ll still need magical assistance when it comes to other planes.

My biggest and only gripe with this archetype is that the planar bond boons don’t really scale with level for the most part, but this is a fun way to play up an expert on the practical survivalist side of actually living on a plane that doesn’t follow the same laws of physics and matter as what we see on earth or even the rest of the universe. If that appeals to you, I’d recommend using this archetype with pretty much any build that doesn’t center around either working with your allies or a pet, since you don’t get the normal hunter’s bond.

An interesting quirk of having a bond with anything is the assumption that the two have a mutual understanding, which is interesting to think about in the context of a ranger with this archetype. Other rangers may share a strong bond with companions, a beloved beast, or even nature itself with certain archetypes, but if this holds true to planar scouts, then that implies that the ranger has a connection to the living will of their absolute favorite plane. This isn’t as strange as it sounds, as at the very least the outer planes are literally made up of soulstuff with a specific morality and philosophy, which in turn assumes that the plane feels something analogous to sapient emotion and belief, albeit in an alien and vague way nearly incomprehensible to mortals. Could be worth exploring, whether it be kinship or just an understanding that the ranger absolutely refuses to let the hostility of the plane kill them.

A casino in Hell seems like one of the worst places to ever go by anyone with a reasonable understanding of probability even before factoring in that the house definitely cheats, and yet that is where the party must go to meet their contact. However, even getting there is an issue, for the gambling hall lies in a remote region of the Pit and only VIPs get fancy teleportation tokens to. As such, they’ll need a guide, someone who isn’t naturally inclined to betray them like a devil, but knows the terrain of the Pit like the back of their hand.

The Darkness is a plane where unseen things lurk in a realm without light or sight. Navigating it requires a proper guide, not just due to the hazards of the plane itself, but also the creatures that dwell within, including cabals of mystics that came to the plane to hone their craft, raising juju zombie servants to protect them.

Just as territorial as the rest of his people, the sahuagin Verkus is nonetheless not a vicious being, in part because he lives in a part of the Plane of Water that serves as a rich bounty and breadbasket. For a nominal fee, he can even show others the plane, though his company is not always pleasant.
