read a screen rant article that argued that future knives out movies should feature recurring characters to "flesh out blanc's character" and "make him a more interesting lead" and that "all detectives need a team"........ what if i killed you lol

rgu is not actually very hard to understand, but i do get why it's gotten that reputation. there are certainly things about it that are difficult to wrap your head around, like if you focus a lot on specific symbols. but the emotional core of the story, a narrative about abuse, should be pretty clear to anyone who watches it.

#this sounds a little mean and condescending but i promise i don't mean it that way!#i'm not trying to say 'this is actually so simple and you're stupid if you don't get it' because obviously it's not simple #and i don't wanna call anyone stupid unless they're deliberately ignoring the point.#but you don't need to focus on deciphering (this is imo the wrong way to go about analysis in general) everything on your first viewing #just let yourself feel the emotions the show gives you. get yourself invested in the characters. they're written in a way that almost anyon #can relate to them or at least empathize with them. and that's the most important thing.#leave the symbolism for the second or third rewatch if you need to. or don't get into it at all if you don't want to! that's fine too #when people come out of the show with the response of 'i didn't understand any of that' i think it's just a matter of them #focusing on the wrong thing. you will not be able to understand every single thing at once so don't try #revolutionary girl utena #m

This might be a controversial opinion, but I don't blame Hanamaki Sumire at all for her actions. That's not to say that I don't hold her responsible or that I don't think what she did was horrible (poor Ryu), just that she was a vulnerable woman manipulated by people who didn't care about her (namely, Torao and Ryo). And it's always....interesting to see how in so many industries - but especially the entertainment industry - it's women who bear the brunt of the blame or hate when their wrongs are either the result of others manipulating her choices or "equally" (so to speak) as bad as the male entertainer who did something similar. Do I like Sumire? Not really. But do I think she was the bad guy here? Also no.

#for the record i do think i7 shows us that sumire was also a victim #i just....kind of get a bit sad since i dont see her arc being resolved #maybe pt 4 or 5 or 6 will show some sort of restitution for her?#because it really is a shame that torao gets to succeed and find a redemption arc when sumire doesnt #i know this is a male idol focused media but it does make me a bit sad since she was doing so well #like let her sing again!#or someone tell me that at least torao apologises to her?#mostly cause i get confused when i see him be called kind in the wikia when well......#idk his actions just rub me more in a bad way than the actions of the other zool members do (and theyre all kidnappers)#idolish7 #fandoms spamdom #note's notes #anyway any time i say something slightly not positive about a media piece i feel so bad #AND YET

jesus christttt im not surprised at all to hear that the knuckles series focuses on wade and other human characters a lot i saw this coming a mile away with how almost all the news we were getting before the trailer came out was about the human characters/actors and not about knuckles (or sonic or tails or any other animated characters) but the fact that somebody calculated how many minutes of screentime knuckles has and it came out as LESS THAN HALF OF THE ENTIRE SERIES' RUNTIME when the series is NAMED after him is ridiculous. after this show comes out wade will likely have more screentime and overall plot relevance in the entire scu than tails does. did they actually think wade is a popular enough character for people to be down with this. what the fuck

#was gonna pirate the series but at this rate i might not watch it at all LMAO or at the very least only watch the parts with team sonic #because my interest in this series is dropping every second and i already wasnt very interested in it.#and i love knuckles so you know theyre doing something wrong if knuckles getting his own series isnt interesting me #the thing about wade is i dont even hate the idea of human characters. i dont think its bad for human characters to be present #and i dont think its bad for them to be involved in the plot and have relationships with the existing sonic characters #i personally didnt mind the wedding subplot in the second movie and i know a lot of people hated it #but. it becomes a problem when the random humans are overshadowing the characters people are actually here to see #like the show is literally called knuckles and all the marketing focuses on knuckles but its mostly about wade. allegedly.#and . i wouldnt have minded knuckles having a human costar. but again. they should be getting equal or less focus not more.#and also. its fucking wade who cares about wade enough to want this. would have been more forgiving if it was maddie or jojo or something #because i actually care about those characters. and also theyre not cops #for a moment i was willing to believe that the complaints about wade having way more screentime than knuckles #were a little exaggerated since a lot of people just get mad when the human characters have any screentime at all #but then i saw the article showing that knuckles really did show up for less than half the show and i was like Ummm. Is/Was tumblr giving anyone else a notification when someone you followed posted for the first time in a while? Like this:

It was doing that for me for a couple weeks, although now it seems to have stopped. A short-lived experiment? Or perhaps no one has posted after a long enough lag. (It seems unlikely to have been a bug, but I don't know enough about coding so maybe?)

It was sort of an interesting idea, to make sure I didn't miss someone I hadn't seen in a while, but on the whole I'm glad it's gone/hope it goes. I'd like my notifications to be all about me, thank you 👸🏻The dashboard is the place for other people. Otherwise it gets confusing.

Anyway, I haven't posted in a while (12 days), so perhaps this post will show up in your notifications!

#i just remembered todays a year since my uncle passed and like. its been A Day like its been A Few Weeks because its been A Few Months and #its been a few Years and so on.........and then i remembered that at like 9pm.#and i didnt like rmr his birthday bc i was so Worried about forgetting it that i Actually forgot and like.#ive been so focused on doing things w everyone in my family lately to like. AAAAAA tysm Grace!!!! Though I am so so so sorry for how rambly and long this post is gonna be, but you just asked me abt one of my brainrots!! I will answer your question but also talk about my history alignments and AUs in general LOL

But if I'm making comparisons of F1 drivers and historical figures, my brain kinda forces me to make it an AU because I'm like "this needs to make absolute sense historically and contextually.)

So, tbh of the four historical AUs that float around my brain, only two of them are really specifically about certain historical figures. The four are: Nandopoleon(About how Fernando reminds me of Napoleon), War of Spanish Succession(mostly about that era, but Seb and Nando are supposed to be paralleling Charles VI and Philip V), Napoleonic Hussars(which is about how , in general, Hussars = F1 drivers), and Rennaissance Muse(this just happens to take place in a different era.)

Explaining my AUs and the historical contexts(proceed with caution, its a lot)

Nandopoleon:

Okay so I'm really really am so deranged about Napoleon = Fernando, but I’ve not posted about it too much because I wanna make a well thought out post about it. But basically I think they’re similar people with similar characteristics and motivations. There was this period of time over the summer where I was only brain rotting about how well any of Napoleon’s quotes fit Fernando(with my fellow nandopoleon confidant @/sweatyflytrap haha.) Here’s some quotes as example:

“Victory belongs to the most persevering.”

“It is not necessary to bury the truth. It is sufficient merely to delay it until no one cares.”(Piasco era lol)

“Victory is not always winning the battle…but rising every time you fall.”

“From triumph to failure is only one step.”

"A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon."(trophies y'know)

"Always carry champagne! In victory you deserve it, and in defeat you need it!"

Tell me Fernando wouldn't use these as instagram captions! TELL ME!!! But the other thing that was driving me crazy is how well excerpts from the personality/image section of Napoleone's wiki line up with testimonials from Fernando's doc. Examples:

"He cheated at cards, but repaid the losses; he had to win at everything he attempted."(Napoleon) "Whatever activity I take part in, I have this compulsion to find the compeititon in it."(Fernando)

"He could rapidly dictate a series of complex commands to his subordinates, keeping in mind where major units were expected to be at each future point, and like a chess master, 'seeing' the best plays moves ahead"(Napoleon) "When you talk to him, his mental capacity is so strong. He's talking to you, but his brain is thinking ahead"(Fernando)

Like c'mon tell me they aren't at least a bit similar??? There's a lot else I find similar about them but I cannot list my whole manifesto here skdjlsd

Anyways this AU would be Fernando as Napoleon and would be Webbonso -> Strollonso. Basically, Napoleon had two wives: his first wife, who was older than him and who he was super in love with, but had to divorce because they couldn't have kids, but he still loved her deeply. And then his second wife , who was much younger thanhim and from the Austrian royal family, and this was a politically motivated marriage but they still got on pretty well!!(also it's funny, before she married him she didn't want to be with him because the public perception of him made him out to be not the best guy, but then she wrote to her father about how loving and kind he was. very Strollonso, no?)

War of Spanish Succession:

Mostly explained it here and here. I'm not too interested in either Philip V nor Charles VI themselevs as individuals, but rather the roles they fufill in the "story." Though I will say, I got hit with a brick while reading Charles VI's wiki when finding out that he apparently had several male lovers! So I guess my AU having an arranged m/m marriage isn't even that far off the mark hahaha. Why did they have a 13 year war, they should have just arranged a marriage between the two canidates sigh sigh. But yeah, mostly Austria vs. Spain, I think it fits well with the Vettonso rivalry!! They would end up being: Fernando I King of Spain and Sebastian I Holy Roman Emperor hehe. Also I sketched some more:

Napoleonic Hussars:

Explained here as well as with art, and more art here. I'm really still proud of the points I made, I just feel very ardently about it!!! Not about any specific figure, but rather a historical group that I think lines up extremely well with F1 drivers. But this one is fun cause I can kinda insert any driver into it and they'll work pretty well. It's fun to figure out what kingdom what driver would be, either based off their nationality or the nationality of their team. I remember vividly staring at a map from this era trying to figure out where Maranello would be....But like Renault = Kingdom of France and RBR = Kingdom of Austria, and stuff like that

Rennaisance Muse:

Mostly just this post, I've not thought about this one incredibly deeply. Mostly just brainrot about how I think Seb looks like The David with his curly hair

Have just sat through a labor and delivery class, and friends: nothing made me realize that my high school's sex ed was sub par faster than my partner turning to me and going "ok so when do we get past stuff we covered in fifth grade."

Meanwhile, I'm over here taking notes like I'm cramming for finals. 😭

#for reference my school focused on abstinence #and we had a lady from the local church talk to us about why the safest sex is the sex you don't have #briefly covered the horrors of STDS #which you could avoid by not having sex #and discussed types of contraception but not how to use them #so no we did not practice putting condoms on various phallic fruit and veg #and we never watched any of the childbirth videos #it was bare bones info at best.#i will also say that partner and i attended school in the same state #but i lived in a far more conservative area than he did #so. yeah.#just goes to show those school board elections matter #bean posting #us education #glad at least one of us knows things at any rate #cuz I'm flying freaking BLIND

started watching gotham a few nights ago and honestly? I do not like james gordon. he's supposed to be this big good guy trying to save the city but he is a very stupid self-righteous asshole. his entire romance with barbara sucks. like go man, give us nothing. they have zerooooo chemistry, development, or explanation for their relationship. why are they together? what is her job? why does she live in clock tower? will we ever get to see any rooms besides the entryway/living room? she is bisexual and dated one of the other cops on the show before, I want to know more about them. I want to know more about liza and her life story and why she decided to work for fish mooney. I want to see more of unhinged alfred telling 12 year old bruce to beat the shit out of middle school bullies. I want selina to get rid of the pointless claire's steampunk googles and get a pet cat. I don't give a single solitary shit about gordon's tortured past with the military lmao. even harvey bullock got more actual interesting on-screen backstory than gordon has.

#this show is soooo cheesy the blood is definitely cornstarch and water and food coloring #everything is black and red and 'grimy' but looks fake as hell #ooooop. i think barbara left him lmaooo as she should #also gordon needs his fucking mustache. he looks naked #i also enjoy penguin and nygma. but knowing how their story goes (at least in part) makes me a bit less invested in them #i've seen some of the later episodes before with a friend #honestly i don't think any of them focused on gordon like this and i hope that changes soon #he is so every white man tortured good cop EVER
