Today I offer sketches of the Suitor Squad™️ because I’m not entirely sure when I’m going to draw them properly but really wanted to do something.

This part focuses on Quincey in particular instead of everyone, "Quincey raised his eyebrows slightly and looked at her intently", and I wonder if it connects with what he had said before: "And I promise you, too, that I shall make all certain, for if I am only doubtful I shall take it that the time has come!" Because Quincey is the one who always clocks on the situation at hand first, and patrols for threats (and if he spots one he shoots first asks questions later)

He does clock things very fast and takes action just as quickly. When he's facing the right way.

But in this scene, our favorite Texan isn't looking the right way or even reacting safely as much as he is quick about it. Even if his reaction was entirely innocent surprise, the fact that he made clear how ready he was to serve Mina's euthanasia request--seemingly with more readiness than even Dr. Jack Malpractice who must 'steel' himself to the idea--has absolutely stuck in Jonathan's mind.

Hence Jonathan death gripping the kukri as Quincey gets (to his eyes) the wrong kind of interested.

The whole story could have gone very nasty very fast if Mr. 'You've yeed your last haw' Morris had made a wrong move at that moment.

Have you seen that short where Marcille goes to an "ex-dungeon lord support group"?? It's so funny that it EXISTS at all but it ends with her being awkward because everyone there lost something great and she's sitting there like "uh... I lost the will to do my hair." But it's so sweet because her hair is styled in that short by someone who cares for her 🥺

I did!! If I recall correctly, I think Pattadol actually set it up because she wants to help former dungeon lords heal?? It's very sweet and also SO funny.

And kind of tragic. Marcille thinks she got off easy because she doesn't remember how much she used to love taking care of her hair. It was such a huge part of who she was as a person and now she doesn't even remember it well enough to grieve it. She says "oh well, I guess I'll cut it short" like she didn't spend years growing it and taking care of it. Like it wasn't a point of pride for her, like it wasn't something she really loved about herself.

Sure. It's not as bad as what happened to Mithrun and Thistle, who had their entire selves taken away. But the demon still took a fundamental part of her in an active attempt to make her more vulnerable, and she doesn't even think it was a big deal...

A more patient devil would wait, but I’ve been patient enough. Besides, I shan’t be too cruel. It will be proportionate, I assure you.’ Astarion was rather losing his appetite. ‘Now?’ Astarion said. ‘And if I…don’t want to commit to the second contract?’ ‘Oh, you will,’ Raphael practically purred. ‘You’ll bear my marks and bruises and you still will. Haven’t you realised that the reason no gods heed you, is that you already have one that you cannot forsake no matter what?’ Astarion stared up at him in confusion. Raphael crouched down, eyes flashing golden-amber. ‘It is the sun, my aberrational wretch. All of you fear it, but your lives revolve around it. It’s all you’ve ever wanted since you lost it, and you’ll choose it before you’d choose your own sanity. So here you are, quite mad, and watch – Astarion, my pet – you’re about to agree to the punishment, and walk with me quite willingly, and still sign your signature in blood at the end of the day.’
