no lol. however allow me to go on a tangent for a minute.

i have been on tumblr for a very long time. i have been in fandoms. i have made my fanworks. ive seen Stuff. so i know how people react to fandoms and characters they love. which is (and i mean this with no judgment! and even love!!!): fans add their own flavor to the characters, sometimes enhancing them, but also, sometimes, making the character. completely. unrecognizable

again, no judgment!!!!! ive done it myself!!! often!!!! all the time!!!! you can search for it here on my tumblr!!!! i've done it and i love doing it!!!! hashtag my blorbo now!!!! HOWEVER. when i was making ISAT, i did not think it would blow up like this. but i am someone who prepares for every eventuality, so i did think ok. well. what if it does blow up like this. and people. make. my little guys. from my heart. my bosom. absolutely. unrecognizable

all this to say that if you're making a project that could become Tumblrized(affectionate), or even any kind of project: i highly recommend writing down what your characters mean to you. why you made them like this. what made you go down this route. why did you make this project in the first place. what does this Mean To You And You Alone. so that if your character becomes Unrecognizable. you can still remember what you put in them first. and people can Tumblrize to their hearts content and you can be happy and the people can be happy and we can all hold hands having a different version of the blorbo in our brains

there's something so incredibly sweet about how many times davrin notes in his journal that talking to rook helped him with something. he keeps bringing them out to touch grass and gaze at nugs out in the woods with him which I think must be very good for them, and their company clearly helps him work through and get more clarity on things he's been stuck on emotionally. it's just kind of lovely and a great little nuance in that relationship.

I’m still trying to work out the details of this but…

Short Answer: she fucks that girltwink up.

Long Answer:

At Shiz, Morrible was working hard to build Elphaba up so that she would go along with her hidden agenda, and it was working very effectively too.

Then things changed and now Morrible has Glinda to train instead. The nurturing and encouragement Elphaba received? That’s not needed here, no. What Morrible attempts to do to Glinda is break her, because someone that high up will only listen if they’re ‘humbled’.

So her plan goes as follows:

1. WITHER:

Morrible only has one agenda in mind for Glinda. She needs to break everything about that woman, and break she does. It’s not just mentally and emotionally, it’s physically as well with long days spent practicing sorcery. Every failed spell is swiftly dealt with until Glinda is left with battered hands and frustration welling behind her eyes. Weeks and weeks of this eventually numb her to any comforts of this new life.

2. FEAR:

Because she’s the beloved Good Witch, Glinda feels a sense of value. That she can eventually be irreplaceable and in turn, protected. Morrible works very hard to let her know that with every waking moment they spend together is but a living nightmare for the Upland woman. A lesson turns into a deliberate assault with no one around to bear witness, nor anyone to care to investigate the screams that echo in the hallways. The Wizard needs Glinda alive, not well.

3. SNAP:

Years and years of this and Glinda never fully relent, testing Morrible’s patience of all things. As long as Elphaba is out there, Glinda holds out hope. By now the sight of Glinda will set Morrible off and in one occurrence she doesn’t realize her emotions have caused a storm to brew outside, a single bolt of lighting breaking through the windows to strike Glinda. She survives, the Wizard is very inconvenienced, and Morrible decides to simply just keep her distance from the Good Witch from then on.

Glinda gets the last laugh in the end. The Wizard is gone and Morrible tries to have Glinda executed in an attempt to grab power before she could. She learns far too late what Glinda shares with the Wizard; popularity. The people rebel and Morrible’s reign ends as quickly as it starts, left to rot in the dungeons of the palace while Glinda becomes the new ruler.

it’s a piece of the protective nature that was always part of jon, but since he was betrayed by those he trusted, it’s been horribly amplified. he just can’t help but stare.

whenever you walk into a room, his eyes are the first to find you. and whenever he walks into a room, you’re the first person he looks for. you both could be anywhere with anyone and his gaze is tracking you. watching who surrounds you, how touchy they are, looking for any trace of discomfort that crosses your features, even if only for a moment.

maybe it has to do with the faint twinge of annoyance in the back of his mind whenever you’re not near. that uncomfortable buzz of his nerves knowing if something happened — if the sky began falling — you’re too far away for him to reach.

his rationality fights to speak sense to him, to tell him the odds of such things are so slim they’re laughable, but a voice like that has much of a harder time being heard when you’re involved.

jon never thought anything of the sort would happen to him, especially by the hands of people he swore oaths with; by a boy the age of bran. it never crossed his mind, why would it cross yours? the sky’s been stable since the first men, but what if?

he’s very silent about all this, of course. tormunds too deep in his ale & goats milk to notice how jon isn’t listening to his newest story of giant-fucking. if everyone else weren’t so fascinated by his narration of tits the size of the moon, perhaps they’d see their kings gaze hasn’t left their queen since the wildling began — has followed you, tracking your movements with eyes darkening every time someone gets too close.

k that anon sucks. from a black artist my specific critique for your mel would be that you should change her nose mostly, since mel has a slightly wider nose and a shallower nose bridge most often seen in black ppl and her hair is (??) half loc'd? I actually don't understand canon Mel's hair because when it's up it looks loc'd but when it's down it's loose. silly design fjsksks.

I definitely agree - I was struggling a bit with her general face shape when I was drawing (granted it was a pretty rough/quick sketch) but yes.

As for the hair I was using this character art for reference haha but i don’t think she has it like this in the show at all
