Dragons are often majestic, beautiful creatures, like yourself. On the antithesis of this, what would you consider to be the most pathetic, and horrible looking of dragons? What about their appearance disturbs you the most?

She placed considerable emphasis on the term before turning to her speaker.

"She is supposed to be... the unifying leader for all the flights. Someone who makes the hard choices and has the final say. Yet during the Nexus Wars, she made a choice that.... well was wrong! She is the definition of life. She is supposed to promote and protect the realm. She... was appointed on the recommendation from Malygos, the Spell-Weaver. The original Blue Dragon Aspect. And the real leader that united the Dragonflights. Sure... there are rumors that he turned down the leadership role, but he was smart. He knew the implications that came from it and deemed it worthy to someone who could utilize compassion and show genuine care for our kind."

A hand lashed out then as a frosty lance was lobbed at the wall from the rising feelings of fury.

"She opted to kill Malygos. She didn't find a cure or save him from his madness. She felt she had no choice. But she always did. I've seen her sister now, turn to madness and die at the hand of demons. I've heard of the rumors that surround Nozdormu and Murozond. And Neltharion... we all know what happened there with Deathwing. No Aspect is immune to this corruption and this highly praised and beautiful red dragon, is the most tainted of them all. It doesn't take an Old God to whisper into her ears to cause calamity. She should be put down."

Deliberate steps were taken as Alicion gazed outward towards the city of Valdrakken with disdain.

eugh it's so hard to find people to roleplay with these days, everyone is in private cliques and discord servers

so anyway here's my last attempt at screaming into the void to find interactions, these are all the canon characters I write in all the different fandoms. I write para/multipara, just about any genre (esp angst and fluff and smut) m/m ships only and 18+ for various nsfw themes, and I'm open to canon compliant threads and AUs. I'm a lil slow on replies sometimes because life sucks and so does chronic pain, but I'm also down to just hang or play games or whatever idk. Black Flight Musings

Hi, I’m back again with more Black Flight spicy takes. ***DISCLAIMER: I HAVE YET TO FULLY FINISH THE STORYLINE SO FAR BECAUSE THIS EXPANSION HAS BEEN VERY EMOTIONALLY STRENUOUS ON MY HEART AND HAVE FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO ENDURE. IF I HAVE MISSING FACTS OR HAVE A THEORY THAT COULD BE DEBUNKED WITH INFORMATION, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POLITELY LET ME KNOW. BUT THESE ARE FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS I FEEL LIKE I WANT TO EXPRESS.*** 1: I’ve seen the argument against Wrathion where they claim that he’d rather just kill others than help them. Had that been the case, Ebyssian SHOULDN’T be alive. BUT HE IS. During Visions of N’zoth, Ebyssian came down from Highmountain to help the champion empower the Heart of Azeroth but in doing so; left the protection that was placed there. Since he technically wasn’t a purged dragon, he went under fire from the N’zoths influence right in front of Wrathion. At this point in time, Wrathion had been able to learn how to not only stave off the influence, but also learn how to fight back and purge individuals. By all rights; it really would have been easier and less risky in the long run to have just outright killed Ebyssian... BUT WRATHION CHOSE NOT TO. This choice speaks wonders about what Wrathion truly wants. This isn’t something that gets spoken about at all, even by Ebyssian. 2: I’m getting sort of sick of the phrase “Neltharion’s betrayal.”  I understand that his... “Death” and becoming Deathwing is very shrouded in a vague poorly written cloud, but I do have a theory that involves the Dracthyr. During the cinematic of Neltharion facing off against the surprise attack, there was heavy emphasis and focus on his face; more specifically his eyes. When he used the old god power, his eyes were the focus and how they changed. Now when we see the memory of Emberthal and the others being put into stasis; what’s the ONE thing we don’t get to see of Neltharion? His eyes.  During the storyline in Azure Span, we learn in one of Malygos’s Journals that Neltharion asked him to develop a stasis spell for undisclosed reasons, and as the weeks went by; was getting more pushy about it. Malygos noticed a strange decline in Neltharion; but couldn’t figure it out. In those weeks, Neltharions mind was “dying,” and Deathwing was taking over. Even in his dying state; Neltharion must have understood that he fucked up, and didn’t want his dracthyr to be in danger of whatever he was becoming. While I don’t agree with his choice of placing them in stasis, I can understand the intent. But as his mind died; Neltharions intent to protect them changed to Deathwings intent to contain them. He had enough mind and care left, to ask his closest friend whom he trusted to watch over and protect those he made... But shortly after sealing them away; mentally died.  When Neltharion finally revealed himself as Deathwing; I believe that he had already been “dead” for ages, suffering as Deathwing; the puppet masquerading as Neltharion.  I... understand that Neltharion is rather ripe with controversy when it comes to his actions in life, and the structures he had. But how much of that is Neltharion, and how much of it was Deathwing??? Who knows at this point. He’s so hazy. ---------------------------------------- /sigh I just really love the black flight. I wish I could give them a better life.

Human form was not something he enjoyed, but the Aspect of Earth knew that it was necessary at times. That sometimes it was easier to get around. He did it before, so did his daughter, and his own son. Granted, that was years ago, and even they had been discovered.

In this case, discovery was going to come, but not by mortals. No, he was here to talk. Advice if you will; not an action of war. No, he wasn’t going to go that far. His own time would come soon enough. Just . ..  not right now. Not before he was prepared for an all out war.

Breath was sucked in as eyes closed tightly. To many, he would appear as a random mortal; an adventurer, but he was anything but. Anyone with a brain knew that with how the earth trembled before him.  How it heard his call and acted accordingly.

He may have been corrupted, but even he knew what it was like before hand. Before things were changed; the plating infused on his body because he was coming apart. Because of what he heard and found in the deeps of the very earth.

“The point I must emphasize is that you should be prepared for anything.” Words were spoken lowly, speaking to something out of sight, but not out of mind. Not entirely.

“Up to and including visits from long lost friends,” he says, this time much louder . . . as if formally announcing his arrival.

Fate frowned in puzzlement down at her hands. "It's... hard... to recall them. Their faces. Voices. Names. I know I had a family, of course. I must've. But thinking about it gives me a headache, more than a trip down memory lane. Neltharion--Deathwing, I guess--is very hard to forget, but he definitely wasn't what I'd call family.

"Though if I could, I'd give him so much shit for calling himself Deathwing. Who the hell does that? What kind of absolute dork do you have to be? Just... augh. He didn't even die with dignity. Fuckin' Deathwing."

Ohhh damn it, watching the poignant moment between Velen and Kil’jaeden made me remember how Deathwing got his death cinematic hijacked by an orc baby shower, and now I’m mad all over again. 

No speech by Alexstrasza about the tragedy of their fallen brother, who used to be so close but who fell into darkness right in front of their noses.  No comment by Nozdormu about how he always knew that day would come, but he didn’t realize how emotionally draining it would be.  No regret by Ysera that she didn’t see Neltharion’s corruption seeping into his dreams until it was too late.  No musing on the grim necessity of destroying someone who was once the world’s greatest protector.  

Nope, Aggra’s pregnant, and that’s waaaaaaaaaaay more important than closure between the most important dragon characters in the franchise.  It’s only ten thousand years of strife that has had ripple effects to every corner of Azeroth.  Nothing important or anything.

Er, um, yeah, anyway, I’m glad KJ got a fitting sendoff.  I’ll miss him as a villain, and as the face of the Burning Legion.  I just wish Deathwing had been treated with the same respect and gravitas.

What does Alexstrasza do to relax? How does she unwind when she's especially stressed? Who sees her in this state, or does she try to shield her family and subjects from this fraught side of her?

There are two things Alexstrasza enjoys particularly when she wants to relax, both being very simple actually: one is that on such occasions she’ll like little better than to be home, curled up around her family and concerned only with them; and two is flying, because it must be the one thing in life she loves to do the most. This was always what soothed her the most, but this is specially true after she’s freed from Grim Batol.

There is a difference between her just wanting to relax and when she’s stressed out for a specific reason, though. In the first occasion, she’d favor being with her family more; and she’d prefer the familiarity of home, and the laziness of curling up with her children beneath the sun, or quiet moments with someone she loved (before Korialstrasz’ death, I think she’d have sought him often then, and I can see her being content with just being there close to him while he studies magic, in their humanoid forms, as easily as I can see her being content with them being together in their true forms, doing nothing more than idk, check on their children; but then again he made her happy always. Still, he wouldn’t be the only one she’d seek).

But when she’s particularly stressed, this changes. She is the queen of dragons and the leader of her flight, and she’s more than used to having to be strong for those who look up to her leadership not to falter. Alexstrasza would definitely try to hide this part of her from nearly everyone else, to pretend to them that everything is fine and under control, both because she thinks she needs to, being their leader, and because she’s used to caring for others, not to be taken care of, and she doesn’t want to burden others with her concerns.

There are exceptions to this, but they would be few. Not only would she need to have an immense amount of trust in the people she’d allow to see her like that, they would be only those that she believes would understand and be strong enough that she wouldn’t burden them, as well as those she doesn’t see as needing of her protection. Ysera, for example, is her sister and someone she loves wholeheartedly; but Alexstrasza is the older sister, and if she knows Ysera is strong and capable and understanding, she’d hesitate in presenting her more fragile side to her, because she’s so used to taking care of Ysera.

Alex would have seen someone she could trust to be ‘weak’ around in Neltharion, before shit happened; maybe Malygos at times, before Deathwing. Korialstrasz and Tyran both would have been among those select few, though the former rather than the later. I haven’t made up my mind about her other consorts, since I haven’t made up the two consorts that exist and that’s it. But even then, she would be hesitant to seek someone and share what bothers her, specially post Deathwing’s betrayal. 

That said, this is precisely the sort of closeness I picture existing between her and Neltharion, when he was still Neltharion. While I don’t think she ever did have romantic feelings for him, they were close enough that Korialstrasz seemed certain he would have been one of her consorts if he was one of the reds; and while I think he misjudged her feelings for Neltharion in the potential to be romantic, he definitely had a reason to think what he thought, and he mentions she often sought Neltharion’s advice. I think they were very close, and that he wouldn’t be someone she’d have a sense of protectiveness towards like Ysera for example. It’s part of the tragedy: he was someone she felt she could share things with, no matter how vulnerable it made her, and not burden him; clearly, the opposite was not true, or at least not true enough that he was as open with her when Old Gods started playing with his thoughts (but their relationship wasn’t meant to be the focus here ops). 

Regardless, more often than not, she tries to deal with it herself, all the while hiding that anything is stressing her at all, and becoming more closed off due to that. On such occasions she’d definitely seek the skies more, because taking flight without a destination would give her time by herself, to think and to just be without burdening anyone else, and because the very act of flying, of feeling the rapid wind and seeing the world distant bellow, of stretching her wings as far as she can, would be all very soothing to her.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MUSES // always accepting!!

It’s everything she wants, honestly. Even if/when she’s corruption-free there are things about her that just... won’t change anymore, possibly. With a clear mind, she might start to see some of her flights mistakes, but certainly not all of them, and far from it being enough that her primary goal would shift to something else entirely. 

Following Deathwing’s defeat and her own near death and her flight being almost entirely wiped out of existence, Nalice has a lengthy period of not really knowing what to do because in all of her thousands of years of life, she has been directly and indirectly working to further the Black Dragonflight’s interests --- not even the Old Gods, necessarily, though they certainly profited of it. Her life’s work was all to see something that at this point is unlikely to come to pass: the Black Dragonflight ruling undisputed. And if being the supreme rulers of the world is not happening when the black dragon population in Azeroth can probably be counted on one hand, I think she’s still too invested on her flight to change her goals to something else entirely.

It would make sense, then, that having some more clarity of mind and no longer having her survival as a constant worry (well, not as she had in the time following the assassination attempt, at least, but she’s always a bit paranoid in that regard after having to run away and/or fight for survival for such a great part of her life), her new goal would be in fact to find some way to reestablish her flight instead of just letting it die. How I don’t know, given they are so few, but she probably wouldn’t have many qualms about it either (though if at least somewhat cleansed of corruption, I do believe she would not want her revived flight to be similarly tainted, and would keep from that as much as possible --- she wants dragons to be their own masters, not to serve the void). 

Given her affinity towards research in general and arcane magic in particular, she might seek magical means to aid in that where possible. She might also do some digging to find any blacks still in hiding and who knows, maybe she can eventually learn Sabellian is still chilling in Outland or something aksjndfkjasndfkjnsfdjk

But yes, she’d look upon recreating the black dragonflight as a very desirable goal to achieve. Her first loyalty has always been to her flight, and in her own twisted way her strongest bonds have been to her family for better or worse (probably worse when your mother is Onyxia but). It’s each one for themselves to survive and succeed, of course, but there is still a bond to those she considers her kin, perhaps because even those few twisted bonds she had to family were really the only bonds she formed at all, given the other flights already regarded them as enemies when she was born, and their relationship with mortals was equally bad. 

Alexstrasza actively sought to have the Black Dragonflight restored --- but free of corruption also, and that was in fact the first focus of her effort to try to help them recover. She sent the reds out to look for ways to succeed in cleansing the corruption from the Blacks, which is in fact how Wrathion came to be, when one of those looking for ways to create an uncorrupted egg went way too far with what she was doing. 

Alex certainly has a lot of conditions to what she thinks it’d be acceptable, on top of them being free of corruption; if the means to achieve it are cruel as it was in Wrathion’s case, she will not approve of it (which is why Wrathion was the only one created in such way, too, because even if ultimately Rhea created an uncorrupted egg, to do so she did a lot of shit Alexstrasza only learned of later, but clearly refused to let anyone else repeat). If it hurts or endangers anyone, it’s sad but it’s a no from her. 

But her opinion on the Black Dragonflight being restored is (probably contrary to the most prevalent opinion) very favorable. She’d rejoice to see the Blacks thrive again, as they once did, before Neltharion fell. If she could help that happen, she likely would. But that’s all assuming they’re restored in some way that makes them closer to what they originally were, under Neltharion, than what they more recently were, under Deathwing.

Because just restoring them closer to the later is a nightmare and she has dealt with that shit for too long aksjdnkjnfkjdsfn Alex doesn’t hate them, and I think in great part she doesn’t even blame them for all the evil they may have done, rather blaming N’Zoth, but that doesn’t mean she can afford to just let them be or that she’d want to do that given how much destruction and death could come from that. Her heart is always heavy to fight them, even if it’s necessary; and if they were restored like that, her opinion would be drastically different --- death is kinder than what they were twisted into becoming, and their flight not existing anymore better than existing like that.

Still, she never entirely loses hope about one day restoring the Black Dragonflight. They were important defenders of Azeroth (and Azeroth is always in need of defenders), like all dragons were, and to some extension I can also see this as something she wishes to achieve to honor who Neltharion truly was.

Nathanos Blightcaller: Servant of Slynvanas. Best man. Does not like these ‘heroes’ he’s forced to put up with.

Nelko Blacksun: Necromancer, killed his own men for failing a mission a few times. Does not like just about anyone.

Xeoth Felsworn: Technically a demon hunter. Bound himself to a Dread Lord. Is still technically part of the Magistrate and does involve himself in political affairs involving Sin’dorei quite often. No one likes him, but most can agree he does have a brain about him.

Arthas Menethil: The Lich King. Enough Said.

Darion Mograine: Leader of the four Horsemen via the events of Legion. Serves the Lich King ( once again ), but no longer leads the Ebon Blade.

Khadgar: He really is cool as a cucumber. From some AU world where Medivh was evil the whole time. Serves the burning legion. Quite often impersonates the real Khadgar.

Anduin Wyrnn: The current King of Stormwind. He’s slowly learning how to use the title of King to the best ability he can. Most likely gets raised by Sylvanas as undead.

Neltharion: Deathwing. Enough said on him as well.

Kalerian Felblade: Nightborn Tactician. Big supporter of Magistrix Elisande. Managed to make a deal with  Ka’dern (same dreadlord that Xeoth is bound to) so he wouldn’t die.

Dar'Khan Drathir: Allowed Arthas and the Scourge to slip through Thalassian defenses. Betrayed both his people and Arthas. Who knows how many times he’s been brought back to life.

Anders Van Haven: Druid of the Nightmare. Some poor corrupted boy who just wants to retain balance. Also tries to kill people via the Dream. Modern verse probably wants to be like Freddy.

Jesse Ames: Twilight Cultist. Truly vain. Believes only he knows the way forward. Really is the worst.

Jeoth Shadowblade: A Deathstalker. Actually is really good at his job. Specializes in long term reconnaissance.

Verost Felsworn: Ended up participating in the Waning Crescent massacre. Truly the worst.  

Aaron Lancaster: Twilight Templar. Used to be a high ranking Alliance general / Commander until he was given orders that were not morally correct. Ended up protecting those he should have killed and ended up joining the Twilight Cult. While all others have died? He has survived. His faith to the Old Gods (even though some are dead) cannot be shaken.

How does she feel about Alexstrasza?

Sindragosa has no fondness for her, not anymore. In life, I can see her getting along rather well with Alex, although not them being particularly close. In death, Sindragosa doesn’t have the tiniest bit of respect or liking for the ‘Dragon Queen’, but because I do not see them being close friends before, neither is this a relationship that deteriorated as much as the others. 

Still, Alexstrasza is one in a rather long list of people Sindragosa deems to have failed her and her flight; and in her case, there is the added factor that Alex wasn’t anyone, she was their queen, and she was a particularly close friend of Neltharion. Even then she did not perceive any indication of his betrayal, and let them walk right into his trap, both in crafting the Dragon Soul, and in protecting them at the moment of Neltharion’s betrayal. Not only that, Alexstrasza, much like Malygos, never even made an attempt to rescue those Deathwing killed, or even to pay them the proper respects and bring their bones to the place they were supposed to find rest in. 

Sindragosa thinks Alex is a poor queen at best, and finds it sincerely laughable that the dragons still regard Alex as a leader at all, after she’s made so many mistakes that cost their kind so dearly.There is no vicious rage directed at Alexstrasza. All Sindragosa feels towards her is disdain.

WELL,  had intended that to be the yes or no meme, BUT I love the whole explanation anyway, because now I get to propose this follow up. Would Alleria and Alex be possible? Could Alleria accept a polyamorous situation? Does Alleria's extra time in the Twisting Nether help close the gap with Alex? Would Alex take issue with the Void, or be more understanding than others have been, given her experience with Deathwing becoming tainted by the Old Gods? AND -

OKAY first sorry aisdfhaskdfnk your ask ended up in the middle of other asks that weren’t yes or no, and I thought it wasn’t for the meme, sorry. BUT as to the other questions:

Alleria could accept a polyamorous situation, yes. To be very honest, I don’t see her as the jealous type in general. Relationships, to her, are about wanting to share your life with someone, not belonging to them. If her partner loves other people also and wants to be with them as well and they are happy like that, she’d be chill. (Tbh I think she’d be okay both with poly relationships where all people involved are together, though ofc that would depend on her liking the other person also; and the way the dragons are poly, where you have like, the aspects having several consorts who are not together themselves --- she’d be chill regardless). As long as it had been discussed beforehand and boundaries had been properly established, she’d be okay with that. 

That said, I’m very fond of Alex/Alleria as a crackship as long as I don’t think too hard about it iahfjijsakd I don’t know if it would be actually possible... Alexstrasza is firmly against the Void. Comes with being a guardian of the world empowered by the titans, too, but as you pointed out, there’s the Deathwing thing. Neltharion being corrupted by the Old Gods is one of the things that haunts her the most, and I think she’d have a hard time accepting that someone would have embraced the Void willingly. That Alleria sought the Void would be the key part here, because Alex has a heart that’s way too good and forgiving and full of love, and she would never not love someone for something they didn’t choose --- but it was Alleria’s choice. In Alex’s eyes, Alleria is playing with things she doesn’t fully understand or control. Sure, she may be fine right now, but Deathwing wasn’t corrupted in one night either. And Neltharion was her best friend, the one Aspect she was the closest to; what happened to him never really stopped hurting her, not even after he was long gone and there was only Deathwing, not even after Deathwing died. So getting past that would be exceptionally hard, actually, to the point I’m uncertain Alex could. 

Disregarding that for a moment to consider how their relationship could be, I think it could work. Alexstrasza is strong and powerful and at the same time gentle and loving enough that I think Alleria would end up allowing herself to be softer, to show her more fragile side; and Alex wouldn’t treat her as lesser or judge her or treat her as anything other than capable because of her vulnerabilities. At the same time, Alleria would love Alexstrasza in an almost reverent way, but like I said before, relationships to her are about sharing, and she would be endlessly supportive of Alex, and she would share of Alex’s burdens the best she could (and Alex honestly needs a break and love and gentleness and someone who’ll be supportive of her and who she’ll allow herself to be vulnerable with as much as Alleria, even if in her case it is because she lost the one person that was all those things to her). I think this is essentially why I think it has potential, if not for the Void: although they are very different and lived through immensely different things, they both have need of similar things as far as relationships are concerned, because both of them so often feel like they can’t be vulnerable in front of just anyone, and because both of them crave love and affection and trust, because they need partners that will be patient and understanding and there for them no matter what. They would understand each other’s needs very well, and they would know how to react to them very well.      

I don’t know how much Alleria’s thousand years in the Twisting Nether would do to bridge the gap tbh, at least not in regards of time; but I don’t think it would be necessary. It’s not as much a matter of age as it is experiences and connection, tbh. I think what Alex represents and who she is would be more than a little intimidating, and I think many mortals may have trouble with forming a closer bond with her due to it. As for Alleria, her avoidance of this sort of approach that idolizes people or glorifies them as legends may already be enough to lessen that distance (that said, she would spend 98% of the time after Alex demonstrated any romantic interest thinking she doesn’t deserve a being so wonderful as the dragonqueen)

Would I ship two of my muses? Yes! I have much more fun shipping with other people because then I have someone to scream about it with me, but I certainly have my ships and headcanons and favorite aus and etc for my ships, even when the two of them are muses I write. While it doesn’t happen so much with my WoW muses (Azshara and shipping is... complex, to say the least/Thalyssra I just don’t ship with any of my other WoW girls/I don’t write any of the two muses who are my biggest ships for Tyrande/which leaves Alleria and Alex), in ASOIAF for example, Sansa and Margaery are a huge ship of mine, and I have both of them as muses here. 

The thing with Alex/Alleria to me is that if I think too much about it in relation to canon and stuff, I can’t make it work aidnfksand But at the same time, I actually do like it because I know my girls would love each other right and they both very much deserved it tbh

there’s like 3 people she loved more than anything infinitely with all her heart no matter what and she lost all of them and in all three times it happened in the worst possible ways. even though kori’s supposed betrayal was later proven false (to her; everyone else had to believe her word aksdjfnjksdfn) and she refused to believe it in the first place, when it happened there was no actual explanation other than him betraying them, so not only she lost her most beloved consort, she did so in circumstances that led everyone to believe he had betrayed them and killed all the children. ysera falls to corruption and has to be killed because of that, and the same goes for neltharion, although with a lot more horrible stuff between corruption and death askdjfnkasjdnf
