support - Jegulus Microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - word count: 496
"Reg?"
James called his boyfriend's name with a frown, giving up entirely on the idea of giving his boyfriend space. Regulus had been quieter than usual that morning, refusing to speak or even sit next to James. At first, James had accepted it. He'd learned long ago that it occasionally took Regulus time to thaw out in the morning, and the best way to support him was to let him be. But now it was coming 'round noon and Regulus had not approached him for his usual mid-morning hug.
"What."
Regulus's response was a harsh statement, and the tone made James nervous. So he sat next to the other man on their couch and turned to face him, even as Regulus crossed his arms and stared off into the distance with a pout.
"Baby...is something wrong?" He asked softly, knowing gentle questions were the best approach with an angry Regulus.
"No."
"Are you sure?" But as he reached out to tuck an errant curl behind Regulus's ear, the younger man jerked away, frowning. "Reg, what's wrong? Have I done something?"
"Yes."
James immediately recoiled a bit. "What is it, love?" He racked his brain thinking about how he could have wronged the perfect creature in front of him but came up blank. He hadn't even eaten the last of the ice cream in the freezer.
"You cheated on me, James," Regulus said, voice full of hurt, and James's blood went cold.
"What? Reg, Reg look at me!" He was panicking now. Reaching for his boyfriend's hand, he scrambled to gain eye contact. "Baby, I would never. Who told you-?"
"Sirius," Regulus said sadly, eyes still not meeting James's.
And for a moment, James's entire world was upended. Because why the fuck would Sirius say that?
Until Regulus continued.
"He said it in my dream last night."
And it took everything in James not to burst out laughing. Because it was so like Regulus to feel this way. To have a dream about him cheating and to be mad the next day. But he also knew that if he didn't tread carefully, he would do something in real life to get himself in trouble.
"Baby," he murmured, using his pointer finger to gently guide the shorter man's chin so their eyes met. "I am so sorry that I did that in your dream. I think if I had a dream like that, I would have woken up crying."
Regulus's answering blinks told James he was on the right track.
"But please know that I would never do that in real life. I would die rather than do that! You have to know I adore you, love, more than anyone else," he said passionately, staring deep into gray eyes.
And, biting his lip, Regulus nodded after a few agonizing seconds of silence. "Alright. I guess I forgive you."
James just grinned, pulling him into his arms, choosing not to mention that he hadn't actually done anything to forgive.

Daryl Dixon x Pregnant!Reader headcannons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*GIF isn't mine*
Warnings: Sexual content, pregnancy (obviously), morning sickness.
Word count: 853.
A/n: Basically just a collection of things I think Daryl would do if his s/o was pregnant.
To the people who sent requests, thank you so much for them! I'll get started on them right away. And as always, my requests are open for any TWD requests!
★The moment you told Daryl you were pregnant, he was scared and excited at the same time.
★Scared because he didn't know what parenthood would have in store for him (he was also scared he'd end up being like his father), but excited because he was starting a family with the love of his life—you.
★He'd be at your beck and call 24/7—he knew he had jobs to do around the community, but his girl and his unborn baby were his number one priority.
★Cravings? He'd make pantry runs for you. If the pantry didn't have what you wanted, he'd go on a run to find it for you, or send someone else to find it if you didn't want him to leave.
★If you were feeling clingy that day and didn't want him to leave your side, you best believe he'd stay practically glued to your side. The only exception would be if he was desperately needed for something extremely important, but if that wasn't the case? One wouldn't find him away from you.
★He would be so scared to have sex during your pregnancy. Even if you assured him multiple times that it wouldn't affect the baby in the slightest, he would still refuse. If you wanted pleasure, he'd eat you out like a starved man that's been denied a banquet for years, no problem, but full-blown sex is something he doesn't want to do; he doesn't want to hurt his little one.
★Daryl would be undeterred by your mood swings. Growing up with his father and brother, both of who's moods could change in a moment's notice, made him no stranger to sudden mood shifts. However, you were the love of his life and the mom of his unborn baby, so he treated your mood swings with more care and patience than he ever did with his father or brother. In his mind, your body was working overtime, so of course your emotions would be all over the place.
★Daryl would also be undeterred by your morning sickness. He was so used to being covered in blood and walker guts all the time that a bit of vomit would be the least of his worries.
★Daryl would pull your hair back and out of your face while you vomit, rubbing one of his hands over your back in gentle movements.
★Daryl would love laying his head on your baby bump. He'd place gentle kisses on your stomach while your hands softly tread through his hair, all the while wondering how he got so lucky with you, and how the two of you would be starting a family soon—something that he never would've thought he'd do before the apocalypse and before he met you—before he'd fall asleep on your stomach.
★Daryl would be the type of guy who'd think you look absolutely stunning during your pregnancy. Daryl always thought you looked beautiful, no matter what, but there was something about seeing you glow while your stomach continued to gradually grow as your and his baby grew that made you even more beautiful to him.
★That being said, if anybody even so much as looked at you wrong during your pregnancy, Daryl wouldn't hesitate to put them in their place. Nobody was allowed to degrade you ever, and especially not while you were carrying a life the two of you created in you.
★Daryl would outright refuse to let you do any hard work. He knew that he couldn't stop you from helping out at all (a guy could dream), but he refused to let you do any heavy lifting or anything that would exhaust you too much. Yours and your baby's safety was his number one priority, and he wouldn't let anything happen to you just because some people in the community couldn't pick up some extra work.
★Daryl wouldn't let you talk down on yourself. With your growing stomach came the inability to fit into any of your clothes, and with that came insecurity, but he'd always go out of his way to make sure you knew that there was nothing wrong with you or your body. You were perfect to him.
★Your clothes don't fit you anymore? Wear his. There's just something in him that loves seeing his clothes on his woman while she's pregnant with his baby. It drives him crazy in a good way.
★If there was an ultrasound available and the two of you went to yours, Daryl would tear up a little bit when he saw his little one for the first time. He'd take your hand in his and when the doctor left, he'd give you gentle, loving kisses.
★“Look at tha'. There's our baby, our lil' one.”
I'll come back and add on once I think of more.

Addiction
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like Martin Luther baby I had a dream and wrote it down 😭😭 Hope you guys enjoy it🥺🫶🏾 Also heavy inspired by (THIS)
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
In moments like these Trinity really sat and wondered if this was something healthy. Her husband was always on her case about being healthy, always trying to get her to eat the right meals and to throw away her sweets. One thing about Trin, she had a sweet tooth; addicted to things that made her feel good even if it wasn’t good for her and Jonathan was always there to put her in check and keep her in line.
But this…. Jonathon encouraged. When he found out about it, he pushed her to keep doing it and she really wondered: was this healthy for my marriage? But then again, did it matter? Did it matter when the moment was everything she’s ever wanted and more? It made her feel good, and she was always addicted to thing that made her feel good.
"You feel good baby?" Alexis whispered in her ear drawing her back to reality. Once again, Trinity found herself back at her best friends house. Both of them stripped from clothing and in her bed.
Alexis leaned against her headboard with Trinity’s back pressing to her chest. Alexis’ hands were trailing up and down her body in a sensual manner, massaging the coco butter scented body oil into her skin. Trinity let her head fall backwards to Alexis’ shoulder and nodded her head.
Alexis caressed Trin’s breast with one hand and finally let other hand slip two fingers into her. A small moan slips through her lips and her hips moves to chase Alexis’ fingers as they started to create their own pace.
Sweat inked their skin from the foreplay already, they burned for each other and it sucked for Alexis when her best friend was always on the road because she always miss having her in this element. She tries to savor each and every moment but she always gets lost in the moment, her priority always being that she made Trin cum for her.
The squelching noise could be heard in the room as she continued to thrust her fingers in Trinity. Her other hand tweaking and pulling on Trinity’s nipples to further the stimulation of pleasure running down her body.
Trinity’s moans were louder now and Alexis let out her own moan of appreciation. "This my pussy?" Alexis asked softly in her ear.
"Yes baby." Trinity moaned out, bucking her hip against Alex’s hand. Her eyes were damn near glued to the back of her head with the sensations that were flowing throughout her body because fuck.
"Alex." Trin softly called out and Alexis didn’t really need the warning. She knew, she always knew with the way her walls her clenching against her fingers.
"You gonna cum for me baby? Mama making her pretty pussy cum?"
"Yess, gonna make me cum." Trinity whined out, "F-fuck, don’t stop… please." She begged and she never would.
"M’not even gone for 10 whole minutes and look at you." Another voice rings out into the room.
In the midst of them being lost in each other, they didn’t hear the front door open and close. Missed the heavy footsteps that treaded up the stairs nor did they sense the extra pair of eyes watching them.
Alexis’ eyes slitted up to her door, where Jonathan stood leaning against her doorway. Her fingers never ceased their pace, Trinity let out another moan and arched her back as she felt herself cum.
"There we go mama, let it out." Alexis whispered, her eyes never leaving Jonathan’s as she slowed down her thrusting to let Trinity ride out her high.
Jonathan kept his gaze on Alexis while Trinity tried to catch her breath. His only problem with this picture was Alexis was almost trying to assert her dominance to him and he just couldn’t have that.
"You looking for sum’ Lexie?" He questioned, pushing himself off the door to walk towards the two.
Alexis felt the shivers run up her back, the slow steps that Jonathan took to them were calculated, he was trying to get her to fix herself but it was too late, being with Trinity always flared the dominant side of her. "No." She whispered to him, she didn’t want to challenge Jon today, not when she just got them back.
Jon stood in front them, and a smirk took over his face, raising an eyebrow at Alexis almost amusingly. "Just eager to put hands on Trin huh?”
“We missed each other.” Trinity stated, turning her head to face her husband.
Jon smiled sweetly at his wife, her head was still leaned back against Alexis’ shoulder and Alexis’ arms were still holding her tightly. The small affection between the two pulled on his heartstrings, something he wasn’t going to admit out loud yet because of how complicated everything was between the three of them.
“And what about me?” He asked tilting his head to the side at the girls.
“Missed you too baby.” Alexis cooed, tilting her head up at Jon and puckering her lips for a kiss.
Jonathan smirked, leaning down to press his lips against hers in a slow kiss. “I thought I told y’all to wait for me?”
“It was me Jurdy, I started it. I couldn’t help it.” Trin confessed and in retrospect, Trinity shouldn’t have been okay with seeing her husband kiss another women, her best friend no less but she was okay with it. More than okay with it when all three of them being together made her feel a euphoric feeling that she’d never felt before.
“Wanna show you guys something I bought on the road for you.” Trin stated with a smile sliding off of Alexis to go retrieve her ‘gift’, pushing Jon to take a seat in her place. “Just wait here and I’m gonna go get it.” With a quick kiss to her husband she was quick to leave.
Showing back up to the room to find Alexis in the same position she was in not too long ago and she smiled at the scene in front of her. Jonathan caught her gaze and was whispering in Alexis ear.
“Look at what she bought for you Lexie.” He whispered huskily in her ear as he continue to thrust his fingers in and out of Alexis. “Come give her some love Trin.”
And it was as if her foot had a mind of its own, walking towards the two and crawling on the bed to add herself to the equation. Alexis tilting her head up to look at Trin and tried to appreciate the outfit that she had on for them but Jonathan’s fingers pressed against her spot which caused her to loudly moan.
“Feels good huh baby?” Trin whispered, a small smirked on her face as she reversed the gesture back to Alexis.
Alexis nods her head and Trin closes the spaces between them. This moment was the only moment that mattered to all three of them, no matter how unorthodox this seemed to anybody. Their desires for each other was something that could’ve been only described as sweet, something so good that you can’t walk away from it.
Jonathan, Trinity and Alexis found themselves lost in each other like an addiction and it wasn’t something they were looking for a remedy for any time soon.

Cloths of Heaven
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half-light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. Silence envelops the night, deep, broken only by the occasional whisper of wind against the fragile windowpanes of your makeshift home. As shadows dance across the room, cast by the moon's dim light, sleep, which once cradled you gently, now betrays you. A nightmare, vivid and terrifying, seize your mind—a relentless vision of losing Dina, your anchor in this chaotic, infected world.
Heart pounding, you jolt awake, a silent scream caught in your throat as remnants of dread cling stubbornly to your consciousness. Beside you, under the small pool of moonlight filtering through the thin curtains, lies JJ, your son. His tiny chest rises and falls with a rhythmic peace that starkly contrasts the turmoil inside you. For a moment, you watch his serene face, finding a fleeting solace before the urge to confirm Dina's safety overwhelms you.
Assuming JJ is safe and needs to see Dina, you slip quietly from the bed and tread softly across the creaking wooden floor. Each step feels like an eternity as you make your way to the living area, where the echoes of your nightmare linger, a stark reminder of the fragility of this life you've built.
As you enter the living room, the sight that greets you steadies your racing heart. Dina, wrapped in an old quilt, sits in an armchair that's seen better days. The moon casts her in a halo of soft light as she gently rocks back and forth, taking JJ into her arms to nurse him back to sleep after he must have stirred. Her presence, a beacon in the lingering shadows, draws you in.
She looks up, her eyes meeting yours, and in them, you find the warmth and understanding that first drew you to her. Without needing to speak, she extends an arm, inviting you into their small circle of light. You kneel beside her, resting your head against her knee, and as her hand finds your hair, stroking softly, the last vestiges of your nightmare begin to dissipate.
"You okay?" she whispers, her voice a soothing balm.
You nod, not trusting your voice, content to be near her, to see her and JJ together—safe.
Once JJ's eyelids flutter closed, securing him back in dreamland, Dina gently places him in his crib and turns her attention back to you. "Tea?" she offers, and you follow her to the kitchen, grateful for the normalcy of the gesture.
As the kettle whistles softly, you find the courage to voice the fears that your nightmare stoked. "I keep seeing these... these visions of losing you, Dina. Every time I close my eyes, it feels like I might never see you again."
She takes your hands in hers, her touch warm and reassuring. "Hey, look at me," she urges gently. "I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere. We're in this together, okay? All of us."
Her words, simple yet profound, ease the tightness in your chest. Inspired by a sudden urge to feel the early morning air, to watch the world awaken, you suggest, "Let's watch the sunrise. It's been a while since we did that."
Bundling JJ up, you step outside together, the pre-dawn chill brisk against your skin. You settle on the old bench by the side of your home, Dina sitting close, JJ nestled between you. The eastern sky slowly shifts its colors from night's deep blue to dawn's soft blush.
Here, with the day breaking before you, you talk about everything and nothing—whispered dreams for the future, the simple joys of the day-to-day. Each word weaves a more substantial thread in the fabric of your family.
As the sun ascends, casting its first golden rays through the trees, you feel a warmth that isn't just from the sunlight but from the love and certainty that you, Dina, and JJ share. This moment, this morning renews your hope and determination.
You head back inside, the light of the new day filling your home, casting long shadows across the floor that dance with the gentle rhythm of your movements. Watching Dina play with JJ, his laughter and music fill the room, and you feel a profound sense of peace.
Each day is a gift, a new beginning, a promise made under the whisper of the dawn sky—that no matter what, you will face it together.
As you sit together, sipping the warm tea that Dina has prepared, the silence between you stretches, comfortable yet filled with the weight of unspoken worries.
Dina's gaze is thoughtful and reflective as she watches the steam curl from her cup. "Do you remember the day we found this place?" she asks, breaking the silence. Her question pulls you back to a timeless burdened by the immediacy of survival, a day filled with rare hope.
You nod, the memory surfacing amidst the fog of your anxieties. "I remember. You said it was perfect because the sunlight hit the porch just right." The recollection brings a faint smile to your face, one that Dina mirrors as she reaches across the table to squeeze your hand.
"Exactly. And because it felt like a place where we could make a real home," she adds, her voice dropping to a whisper. "A place for JJ to grow up, where we could be a family. I meant it then, and I still do. No nightmare, no fear will take that away from us."
Her words, filled with determination and love, help lift the heaviness from your heart. The two of you talk through the night, revisiting memories of how you've built your life together, the challenges you've overcome, and the dreams you still nurture.
It's a reminder of the strength you draw from each other, fueling your resolve to face whatever comes.
As the first light of dawn begins to seep through the windows, painting the world in hues of gold and amber, you wrap a blanket around your shoulders and step outside. The air is fresh, the promise of a new day palpable. Dina joins you.
JJ is now awake and curious in her arms. Together, you walk to the edge of the property, where the open sky stretches wide and unobstructed.
The sunrise is breathtaking, a spectacle of colors that bleed across the horizon, blending into one another. You watch, mesmerized, as the world awakens.
Birds chirp in the distance, their songs a soundtrack to the sun's ascent. JJ babbles happily in Dina's arms, pointing at the sky with chubby fingers.
"This—this right here—is why we keep fighting, right?" Dina says, her voice was soft and emotional. "For moments like this, for him."
You nod, your heart swelling with love and renewed purpose. "For all of us," you affirm, feeling the weight of your nightmares lessen in the rising sun's light. "We have so much to live for and protect."
You spend the morning outside, embracing the day together as a family. Dina teaches JJ how to say "sun" and "sky," her laughter mingling with his excited squeals. You capture these moments in your mind, a mental album of all the reasons why you fight and why you survive.
As the day emerges, you return inside, energized by the morning's beauty and clarity.  Once a mere shelter, the house feels more like a home with each passing day, filled with the sounds and sights of your small family thriving against the odds.
In these moments, the nightmares that haunt your sleep seem distant, their hold on you weakened by the love and life that fill your days. You know they may return, as they often do in this harsh world, but you also know you have everything you need to face them—as long as you have Dina and JJ by your side.

The gentle vibration of Lena's watch acted as her personal alarm, rousing her from the realm of dreams into a reality more blissful than she could have ever imagined. She blinked away sleep, her eyes adjusting to the soft light filtering through the curtains. Lena's arms instinctively tightened around the warm, naked form of Kara, who remained sound asleep, blissfully unaware of the early hour.
A smile tugged at Lena's lips as she looked upon Kara's adorable slumbering face. Her tousled hair cascaded around her, an unruly halo that only added to her enchanting allure. Lena's gaze traced the delicate lines of Kara's features—the gentle curve of her cheek, the slight pout of her lips, and the serene expression that painted her face.
In the tranquility of the moment, Lena's heart swelled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. She was captivated by the sight of Kara, at peace in her arms. It was in these moments, where the outside world was hushed and time seemed to stand still, that Lena truly appreciated what the universe had given her.
With great care, Lena extricated herself from Kara's embrace, untangling their limbs one by one. As she moved, Kara stirred, letting out a soft grumble and instinctively pulling Lena closer. Lena's smile widened, her heart fluttering with warmth at Kara's unconscious desire to keep her close.
Unable to resist the temptation, Lena leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on Kara's forehead, her lips lingering for a brief moment. She whispered softly, as if the words were meant for Kara's dreams alone, "I'll be back, my love."
Treading lightly, Lena tip-toed around the room, careful not to disturb Kara's peaceful slumber. Her movements were slow and deliberate, in an effort to not disturb Kara. She reached for her clothes, pausing occasionally to steal glances at Kara, unable to resist the allure of her presence.
She marveled at the way the soft morning light played upon Kara's features, enhancing her natural radiance. Lena's heart ached with a sense of wonder, knowing that she had found her forever in Kara.
As Lena finished dressing, she stood at the threshold of the room, her eyes once again drawn to the slumbering form on the bed before moving towards the kitchen, busying herself with making her morning coffee. As the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, Lena made her way to her home office, barefoot and focused. She settled into her chair, surrounded by the familiar comforts of her workspace. Today, she had an important project to tackle, something that required her undivided attention for the upcoming week.
She delved into her work but her thoughts occasionally drifted to Kara. She couldn't help but wonder when her girlfriend would finally awaken from her peaceful slumber. But she knew that Kara deserved the rest that weekends offered. While Lena admired Kara's unwavering commitment and selflessness, she couldn't help but feel a surge of protectiveness. She wanted nothing more than for Kara to experience rest, relaxation, and the freedom from the burdens she carried. Lena recognized the toll that Kara's superhero duties and long work hours took on her, and she made it her mission to make Kara's weekends as relaxing as possible.
Hours passed, and the clock struck 9 am. With a contented smile, Lena closed her laptop and rose from her desk. It was time to fulfill one of her favourite weekend rituals—one that never failed to make her happy. Lena made her way to the kitchen, her steps light.
In the kitchen, Lena set to work, preparing a delicious breakfast for Kara. She cracked eggs into a bowl, expertly whisking them before pouring them onto the sizzling pan. The aroma of bacon filled the room, mingling with the scent of freshly flipped pancakes. She carefully brewed Kara's coffee just the way she liked it, knowing that the aroma would soon entice her from her slumber.
As Lena cooked, a sense of contentment enveloped her. This simple act of making breakfast for Kara had become something special, something she looked forward to. A testament to the love she felt for Kara. Each time, Kara's surprise and excitement for the meal only deepened Lena's appreciation for the woman in her life.
It hadn't always been this way. Lena recalled the years they had spent hiding behind fears and uncertainties, denying the undeniable connection that had always simmered beneath the surface. The tension between them had been palpable, but it took time and circumstance to bring them together, and she was grateful for every turn that brought them to this moment.
Now, as she stood in the kitchen, filling plates with eggs, bacon, and fluffy pancakes, Lena couldn't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude. Kara's presence in her life had transformed everything, turning the mundane into the extraordinary. She marveled at how a simple act of making breakfast for her girlfriend could make her so happy.
Lena carefully arranged the tray, placing the freshly cooked breakfast and steaming coffee upon it. With the tray in her hands, Lena made her way back to the bedroom.
Pushing open the door, she entered the room to find Kara still nestled in the bed, sound asleep. The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow upon her peaceful form. Lena's heart fluttered as she approached the bed, captivated by the sight of her beautiful partner, a vision of serenity.
With a smile playing on her lips, Lena set the tray on the night stand and leaned down, placing a tender kiss on Kara's soft lips. "Good morning, darling," she whispered, her voice carrying a mixture of affection and warmth.
Kara stirred, her sleepy smile breaking through as her eyes slowly fluttered open, adjusting to the gentle light. She wrapped the sheets around her naked body as she sat up, the morning air giving a slight chill to the room. As her gaze met Lena's, a spark ignited within her, and a smile that could melt hearts spread across her face. "Morning, beautiful," Kara greeted, her voice filled with love and adoration.
Lena's heart skipped a beat, as it did every morning when Kara greeted her with such genuine affection. The way Kara looked at her, as if she held the entire world in her eyes, made Lena feel so special. It was a feeling she could never tire of.
Lena's smiled as Kara's sleepy eyes widened in excitement at the sight of the carefully prepared breakfast tray. She brought it to the bed, placing it between them, creating a cozy space for breakfast in bed with her girlfriend.
Lena found herself entranced by Kara's presence as they ate. Her gaze wandered, admiring the way Kara's hair fell in tousled waves, framing her face with an ethereal beauty. The intimacy of sharing breakfast in bed, the simple act of spending a Sunday morning together, held a significance that transcended the ordinary.
As they finished their breakfast, Kara leaned in, capturing Lena's lips in a sweet morning kiss, filled with tenderness and affection. Lena could tase the bitterness of the coffee and the sweetness of the pancakes on Kara's lips.
Kara stood up, allowing the sheet to gracefully fall from her body, and Lena's eyes traced every curve, every line that made up Kara's exquisite form. The morning light danced upon her skin, accentuating her beauty in a way that took Lena's breath away.
Kara turned to Lena, her eyes sparkling with playful mischief, and issued an invitation that sent a shiver of anticipation down Lena's spine. "Join me for a shower, Miss Luthor?" she asked, her voice laced with both innocence and seduction.
A surge of heat flushed through Lena's body. She nodded, her voice husky with desire, "Certainly, Miss Danvers."
As Lena followed Kara into the bathroom, she couldn't help but notice the perfection of the moment.
--
Lena stepped out of the shower, wrapping her towel around her, the steam from the bathroom still clinging to her skin. She followed Kara into the room, the echoes of Kara's touch, which had brought her to the peak of pleasure mere moments ago, still reverberating within her and the taste of Kara lingering on her lips.
Before getting dressed, Lena pressed a soft kiss to Kara's lips and Kara smiled, lighting up the overcast day.
As Lena dressed, she couldn't help but steal glances at Kara, who mirrored her actions. The sight of Kara slipping on Lena's old MIT sweatshirt tugged at her heartstrings. It was a seemingly insignificant gesture, but one that held profound meaning. Lena knew it was cheesy, but the sight of Kara in her clothes always made her happy. She thought back to the night she had first lent Kara the sweatshirt. It had been a casual movie night at Lena's penthouse, back when they were still just friends and hiding behind their fears, when Kara, in her adorably clumsy manner, had accidentally spilled wine on her shirt, leaving an indelible stain. Lena had offered her the sweatshirt to change into.
The following morning, Lena had walked past the guest bedroom and caught a glimpse of Kara peacefully asleep, her face nestled against the fabric of the sweatshirt. Lena had felt a surge of happiness, a glimpse into a potential future with Kara, even though fear held her back from pursuing it fully. In that moment, she had wished that she was waking up next to Kara, instead of in a different bed. She never asked for the sweatshirt back, thinking that it had never looked as good as it did on Kara. And now, she watched as her girlfriend slipped into that same sweater, and marvelled at how their relationship had shifted into something greater than she could have ever dared to wish for.
Lena, now clad in a cozy sweater, observed Kara's struggle with her tousled hair, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips. She knew all too well that the disarray was a result of her desperate fingers that had been tangled in Kara's hair just a few minutes ago. Unable to resist, Lena stepped forward, positioning herself behind Kara, their bodies lightly brushing against each other.
Gently, Lena gathered Kara's hair, skillfully pulling it up into a neat ponytail. Lena couldn't help but press a tender kiss to Kara's neck, feeling the delightful hitch in Kara's breath. Sensing Kara's reaction, Lena's heart skipped a beat.
Kara turned around, her lips meeting Lena's in a kiss that immediately reignited Lena's desire. They reluctantly broke the kiss, their panting breaths mingling in the air.
"Darling, if we continue like this, we'll never leave this room," Lena whispered, her voice laced with a mix of playfulness and longing.
Kara's lips curved into a mischievous smile. "Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing," she teased.
Lena chuckled, her fingers tenderly brushing against Kara's cheek. "As tempting as that sounds, my love, I do have some work to finish," she admitted reluctantly.
Kara pouted adorably, her brows furrowing in a mock plea. "Can't you take a break? We could watch a movie together," she suggested.
Lena's resistance wavered and she smiled, giving in to Kara.
"Alright, I'll join you on the couch," she agreed, her voice tinged with amusement. "But I'm bringing my laptop so I can work while we watch," she added, a hint of doubt creeping into her words. She knew deep down that productivity would be a distant memory in Kara's presence.
A gentle rain began to fall outside as they snuggled up on the couch, a soft blanket enveloping them and Kara leaned comfortably against Lena. Lena immediately abandoned any thought of work, completely captivated by the presence of Kara beside her. Instead of opening her laptop, she wrapped her arms lovingly around Kara, pulling her closer.
With a bowl of popcorn nestled between them, Kara took charge of the movie selection, choosing a ridiculously scary film that promised thrills and chills. As the tension built on the screen, Kara couldn't help but react to every jump scare, her startled jumps accompanied by infectious laughter from Lena. With each suspenseful twist and unexpected scare, Kara's body jolted, eliciting genuine jumps and yelps. The contrast between Kara's invincible nature and her vulnerability to cinematic frights amused Lena to no end.
As Kara absentmindedly fed Lena popcorn, Lena's fingers playfully grazed Kara's cheek, tenderly brushing stray strands of hair behind her ear. She pressed a gentle kiss to Kara's head, and in that moment, the world outside seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them enveloped in their own little universe.
--
Later that evening, Lena stood by the kitchen counter, a warm smile gracing her lips as she watched Kara expertly mix cookie batter. They were eagerly preparing a batch of cookies in anticipation of a visit from Alex, Kelly, and Lena's adorable goddaughter, Esme.
As Lena's gaze traveled up Kara's face, she noticed a dusting of flour on Kara's cheek. Lena's smiled, finding the sight irresistibly adorable. With a soft chuckle, she leaned in, her thumb gently wiping away the flour as she pressed a kiss to Kara's lips.
"Seems like you've got a little something right here," Lena murmured. "You know, you're incredibly adorable like this," she continued, capturing Kara's lips in another sweet kiss. Lena's hands instinctively found their place on Kara's waist, pulling her closer as the kiss deepened. She could taste the sweetness of the batter that Kara had tried as she mixed. The bowl of cookie batter slipped out of Kara's hands, and landed on the counter with a loud clatter, causing them to break apart laughing. Thankfully, it landed the right way, and the batter was safe.
Kara glanced up, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "If you keep distracting me like that, there will be no cookies and you'll have to explain that to Esme."
Lena laughed, holding her hands up.
"Okay, okay. No more distractions. I don't want to suffer Esme's wrath."
Kara grinned at Lena as she picked up the cookie batter again. They resumed their baking duties, their movements synchronized as they mixed, scooped, and placed cookie dough on the baking sheet.
"Esme is growing up so fast," Kara said with a fond smile, leaning against the counter as Lena carefully placed the final tray of cookies in the oven, "I can't believe it'll be her birthday soon. We need to find her the perfect birthday gift."
Lena nodded as she picked up the bowl of leftover batter, scooping some out with her fingers to taste, her mind already spinning with ideas. "I was thinking something cool, like a drone or a mini electric car."
Kara chuckled. "Maybe for this birthday we could think a bit smaller. Something cute and small that won't cause absolute destruction to their house?"
Lena always wanted to spoil Esme, because what was the point of being a billionaire if she couldn't spend a lot of money on the people she loved? And she loved that little girl so much. But she knew that Kara was right. Esme could be a handful and putting a drone control, or the steering wheel of a little car in those little hands could only lead to disaster.
"Okay," Lena relented, "We'll go shopping next weekend. To find something small," She jokingly rolled her eyes as she said the last part and Kara stuck her tongue out at Lena.
Just then, the elevator's cheerful ding announced the arrival of their guests. Kara's face lit up with a wide grin, knowing that Alex, Kelly, and Esme had finally arrived. But as they left the kitchen, a whirlwind of energy collided with Lena, catching her off guard and sending her tumbling to the floor. It was Esme, the little bundle of joy, who had thrown herself into Lena's arms with uncontainable excitement.
But the excitement didn't stop there. As Lena tried to stand up, Kara, unable to resist the playfulness, launched herself on top of the hugging duo. Esme's giggles filled the air as she squirmed and wriggled, thoroughly tickled by the combined efforts of Lena and Kara. The sound of their laughter mixed with Esme's infectious joy, creating a harmonious melody of purehappiness.
Alex and Kelly entered, witnessing the scene with fond exasperation. Looking at Kelly, Alex playfully muttered, "They're all children," shaking her head at the sight before them.
Eventually, they managed to regain their breath and composure, standing up from the laughter-filled heap. Esme's eyes widened as the delightful aroma of freshly baked cookies reached her senses, and with a burst of anticipation, she sprinted towards the kitchen, enthusiastically chanting, "Cookies!"
Lena's laughter accompanied her as she watched Esme's infectious excitement. Meanwhile, Kara hurriedly followed Esme into the kitchen. Lena warmly greeted Alex and Kelly, enveloping them in affectionate hugs and taking their coats.
Alex teasingly remarked, "You guys spoil her."
Lena grinned, "That's our job."
They entered the kitchen to the sight of Kara kneeling in front of Esme, breaking a cookie in half and offering one piece to the delighted little girl, and placing a piece in her own mouth. Kara's eyes sparkled with joy, her radiance captivating Lena in that very moment. It was a glimpse of perfection, a snapshot of happiness that Lena wished she could freeze in time. The soft glow of the kitchen lights danced in Kara's eyes, and Lena couldn't help but get lost in them.
In that moment, Lena's gaze lingered on Kara, captivated by her warmth and the way she effortlessly embraced the role of nurturing aunt. It was in these simple acts of love that Lena's heart expanded with a longing for a forever with Kara.
As Kara's eyes met Lena's, a knowing smile graced her lips.
--
As the evening drew to a close, Lena and Kara found themselves in the cozy confines of their kitchen, the remnants of a delightful evening with Alex, Kelly, and Esme still lingering in the air. Lena stood by the sink, her hands submerged in warm, soapy water, washing the dishes with a contented smile. Kara, her ever-enthusiastic self, stood by her side, ready to assist by drying and putting away the dishes.
Lena glanced at Kara, her heart swelling with affection as she handed over another plate for her to dry and put away. "You know, I really enjoyed tonight," Lena murmured softly, her voice carrying a tinge of happiness.
Kara beamed, reaching out to take the dish from Lena's hands.
As they focused on the domestic task at hand, their conversation shifted towards their plans for the upcoming day.
"So, Super Reporter, what exciting adventures await you tomorrow?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Kara had been making waves with her articles recently, and Lena couldn't be prouder.
Kara's eyes sparkled with excitement as she spoke. "I have an exclusive interview with the CEO of ZinTech for their new tech unveiling. He never speaks to anyone!"
Lena's lips curled into a proud smile as she admired Kara's passion. "Well, you're not just anyone, are you?"
Kara blushed adorably, and immediately turned her attention to Lena. "And what about you, my brilliant CEO? Any big plans for tomorrow?"
Lena's expression softened, her gaze locking with Kara's. "I have a crucial meeting with the board of a company I hope to acquire. I need to convince them that our visions align. It's a bit nerve-wracking."
Lena had been stressed. This board was notoriously difficult to deal with, and the company was in demand. So they were being extra picky, knowing that they had every option available. Lena had to present herself as the best option.
Kara reached out, her hand gently caressing Lena's cheek. "Lena, you'll do amazing. They'll be lucky to have you. And besides, who could resist Lena Luthor?"
Lena couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth in her chest. Kara had an uncanny ability to make her feel like she could conquer the world. She leaned into the touch, reveling in Kara's affectionate reassurance. Before she knew it, Kara leaned in and pressed a tender kiss against Lena's cheek, filling her with a sense of comfort.
"Thank you, Kara," Lena whispered, her voice tinged with adoration.
As Lena and Kara finished the last of the dishes, Lena turned to survey the kitchen. A sense of warmth and homeliness enveloped the space, replacing the once stark and empty atmosphere. Before Kara moved in, the kitchen had been a utilitarian area, devoid of personal touches. It had been a place where Lena stored her takeout containers in the fridge and occasionally paused for a glass of wine. But now, it was so much more.
Lena's eyes scanned the room, taking note of the subtle signs that marked their life together. A plant they both took turns watering stood in the corner, it's leaves vibrant and beautiful. On the shelves, colourful mugs that Kara liked to collect were lined up, each more ridiculous than the next. A cookie jar sat on the counter and Kara ensured that it was always stocked with Lena's favourites. Lena couldn't help but smile at that.
Kara's coat hung on the back of a chair, and Lena's heels were tucked under the table, exactly where they had left them on Friday night when they sat at this table to eat the pizza Kara had flown to Central City for.
Lena didn't even realise when her stark penthouse had turned into a home.
--
Lena climbed into bed, snuggling against the soft pillows, book in hand. Meanwhile, Kara moved around adjoining closet, carefully packing away her notebooks and laptop for the next day, fidgeting with her recorder.
The bedroom was filled with the soft glow of the bedside lamp, casting a warm ambiance that invited relaxation. Lena was immersed in her book, allowing herself to be transported to another world.
However, her blissful reading was interrupted by the sound of Kara's footsteps approaching the bedroom. Lena couldn't help but feel a mixture of amusement and anticipation. She knew all too well that Kara had a knack for playfully distracting her.
As Kara climbed into bed beside her, Lena pretended not to notice, determined to maintain her focus on the book. But Kara had other plans. With a mischievous smile dancing on her lips, she leaned in and planted a series of gentle kisses along Lena's neck and behind her ear.
Lena's breath hitched, a jolt of pleasure coursing through her veins. She fought to keep her attention on the words before her, but Kara's touch was a tantalizing distraction. Her fingertips traced a path of light feathery strokes along Lena's arms, her waist, and gradually ventured to her thighs.
Sensations swirled within Lena, her heart quickening its pace. The words on the pages became blurry, as Kara's playful exploration ignited a fierce desire within her. Lena could feel the intensity building, the craving for Kara's touch growing stronger with each passing moment.
Unable to resist any longer, Kara slowly pulled Lena's book away, her eyes darkening with a hunger that mirrored Lena's own longing. The room seemed to hum with a charged energy as their gazes locked.
In that exhilarating instant, Lena surrendered to the magnetic pull between them. With a surge of passion, she reached out and pulled Kara closer, their lips meeting in a fiery, passionate kiss. Their mouths melded together, igniting a blaze that consumed them both.
Kara's hands instinctively found their way to Lena's waist, pulling her in closer, intensifying the connection between them. The world around them faded into insignificance as they lost themselves in each other.
--
As Lena drifted off to sleep, her arms wrapped tightly around Kara, she couldn't help but utter a silent wish to spend every Sunday for the rest of her life like this- with Kara.
The End

"Cennetin işlemeli kumaşlarına sahip olsaydım,
Altın ve gümüş ışıkla işlenmiş,
Mavi ve loş ve koyu kumaşlar
Gecenin, ışığın ve yarı ışığın;
Ben olsam ayaklarının altına bez sererdim:
Ama ben fakirim, sadece hayallerim var;
Hayallerimi ayaklarının altına serdim;

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Warnings: none!
Her hands were everywhere. Her lips touched his softly as she breathily moaned at his ministrations between her thighs. Silky blonde locks brushed his face as he made his way down the side of her neck. He never tasted anything so sweet, so right. “Rowan. Rowan. Rowan.” Her voice got louder and louder as he laid her back on the cushions of his couch, muscles straining to reign in all the things he wanted to do to her. He had to do this right. Move slowly. This thing between them was as precious as the sun’s warmth. “Rowan. Ro.” Her voice changed cadence, suddenly closer and louder. “Ro!”
A stinging sensation against his cheek woke him. Like lighting, he shot up, catching the arm of the person who slapped him. Once he registered where he was and what was happening, the first thing he noticed were the depthless blue and gold eyes of his best friend. His best friend. Aelin. Who he was in the middle of having a sex dream about.
Rowan could feel his face flush as he became more aware of his surroundings. He silently thanked the Gods that he chose to cover himself with a blanket for this particular nap. Otherwise, it would’ve been painfully obvious just exactly what he had been dreaming about.
“Must’ve been some dream, huh? Since you didn’t wake up the first twenty times I called your name.” Aelin raised an eyebrow. “Sorry for the slap, though. I just didn’t know how else to wake you up.” Aelin gave him a devious smile.
Rowan rubbed at the still stinging area on his left cheek. The good thing was that the slap hid any blush that might’ve remained on his face. “Sure you are, Fireheart.” She pouted slightly, giving him her best “but I’m innocent” look. “Wait, how did you even get in here?”
“You gave me a key, remember?”
“Yeah, for emergencies. Not to barge into my house at…” He checked his phone. “4:35pm on a Thursday afternoon.”
“This is an emergency, Ro.”
He raised an eyebrow and silently commanded, explain.
“Well ok…you see, I have this cousin. His name is Galan. Well he’s sort of my cousin but he’s also not. Not in the sense that Aedion is my cousin. But he’s still sort of close family, ya know? And I got the invite a few weeks back and I hoped that I could find a date but I haven’t yet and I just really think that maybe it would be a fun time and there’s going to be good food-”
“Hold on. What the fuck are you talking about?” Rowan couldn’t keep the humor and huff of laughter out of his voice. Aelin tended to ramble when she was nervous. So obviously this was something she was nervous about. He gently took her hand. “Start again and take a deep breath this time.”
For once, she listened to him. After inhaling and exhaling deeply, she tried again. “My cousin, Galan. He’s getting married and I have a plus one. I can’t go alone because my mother will have a fit and that will make her and my aunts scheme like hell to set me up with one of the groomsmen. But I 100% do not want that. I know Galan’s friends and they’re all dumbasses. I love my cousin, but his groomsmen all make really stupid, idiotic decisions. So no, thank you. So I guess my question is, will you go with me? As my plus one?”
Rowan took a moment to process the information. What are the odds that he would have a sex dream about his best friend right before she asked him to be her plus one to a wedding? He was treading dangerous territory and he wasn’t sure what to make of it.
He must’ve taken too long to answer because Aelin hastily said, “As friends, of course. And you’d get free food, booze, and a night of dancing. You get to dress up, which I know you hate but it’ll be fun! Plus, you’ll get to have the most beautiful, amazing, graceful date on your arm.”
That shocked him out of his stupor. Rowan let out a cackle. “Modest, aren’t you?”
“Modesty is my middle name.”
Rowan hummed in mock agreement. “Yeah, I’ll go with you. It’ll be fun. A night away, drinking, eating great food, and getting to watch the bridal party get increasingly drunk as the night goes on? I’m in.”
Aelin beamed but quickly bit her lip. He knew her too well to know that it wasn’t just a nervous tick. There was something else. Rowan narrowed his eyes.
“It’s also like five hours away in Varese so we need to rent a hotel for the night.” She looked apprehensive, as if this new information was going to make him change his mind and say no.
“O..kay? We’ve been on vacations together before, Fireheart. What’s different this time?”
She blew out a breath. “I don’t know. I just know you don’t like being the center of attention and I know that my mom and my aunts are going to be all over you like vultures. So I just want to make sure you know what you’re getting into before saying yes.”
Rowan shrugged. “How bad can it be?”
- - - - -
Bad. The answer to his question from a few weeks ago was just that: it could be bad.  The date of the wedding crept up steadily, he and Aelin hammering out the details of their stay in Varese. Aelin, of course, insisted on coordinating colors for their outfits, which is how he found himself standing at the base of the stairs in the grand ballroom attached to their hotel in a black tux and emerald green bowtie, talking with Aedion while waiting for the two ladies to make their grand entrance. Aelin insisted on the emerald green to match his eyes. He really didn’t care either way, he just hoped he was able to reign in his budding feelings when he saw Aelin in what just so happened to be his favorite color. And that if he somehow did accidentally let some of his feelings show, that it wouldn’t make it awkward for when they got back to their hotel room.
Oh right, that. The other predicament he was in.
Once he and Aelin arrived at the hotel that morning, they were surprised to find that not only did their room only have one bed, it also had one of the most romantic views of Varese, overlooking the river that flowed through the center of the city and its beautiful architecture. Aelin was quick to insist that she had nothing to do with this and that she ordered a double room. At the time, the wedding was only a few hours away and Aelin shoved him out of their room towards Aedion and Lysandra’s across the hall, stating that she needed to get ready and she couldn’t have his broody self in the room while she was doing so. So he and Lysandra had switched places, Aelin assuring him that they’d remedy the bed situation later.
He and Aedion took a whopping total of ten minutes to get ready in comparison to Aelin and Lysandra’s two hours. Rowan’s foot started tapping of its own accord as the time ticked closer to the ceremony. If Aelin didn’t hurry her ass up- albeit her very, very nice ass- they were going to be late.
He was cut off from his thoughts by the two sets of clacking heels on the marbled floor coming from the top of the stairs. It took one look at the thigh slit of Aelin’s dress for his mouth to dry up. Another glance at the way it hugged her hips for his body to go wholly still. And one final glance to her beautiful, glowing face for him to black out completely.
He must’ve actually blacked out since, in what felt like a single moment, Aelin was standing right in front of him. Her emerald green dress matched his bowtie perfectly, of course, the gold accent of her minimal jewelry complimenting her eyes. She didn’t need baubles and gems to make her sparkle. She, just as she was now, was an ethereal being, glowing from an internal, unseen star.
Rowan tried so hard; so, so, incredibly hard to will his mind to say something, anything. And yet, words escaped him. How could he ever put into words how beautiful she was, how much she meant to him? As saliva started making its way into the dry desert that was his mouth, all he could manage was a “Holy shit.”
Aelin’s laugh was like twinkling bells in his ear. “Back at ya, Buzzard. You look…very handsome.”
Was it just his imagination or did she sound…breathless? He couldn’t help but become aware of every place her eyes drifted to, like they were emitting invisible fire and burning him everywhere. His hand subconsciously came up to rub at the back of his hair, trying to smooth out anything that was out of place. “You’re being sarcastic, aren’t you?” He managed a small smirk. Or, he hoped he did.
Aelin’s eyes continued their unhurried perusal, mouth parting slightly and hand coming up to grab his own to stop him from messing up his hair even more. “No,” she breathed, “For once in my life, I’m not. I Promise.” Rowan could see her swallow hard.
Rowan had to take a deep gulp of air, otherwise he was sure he was going to pass out. Somewhere, deep inside of him, some air of confidence kicked in and gracefully allowed him to offer his arm for Aelin to take. Gently, she placed her hand in the crook of his elbow, both of them silently making their way to the doors where the ceremony would be held. As they neared the room, Rowan purposefully slowed them down, falling behind Aedion and Lysandra. “Fireheart,” he whispered. “You look…you look stunning. It’s what I wanted to say earlier but I couldn’t find the words.”
Rowan could have sworn a blush overtook her face. But she beamed up at him, giving him a sweet, shy smile.
“Thank you.” He could feel more than see her sharp intake of breath. A breath to recenter and refocus. “Well, shall we, Buzzard?” Rowan nodded and steered them once again to the doors.
An hour later, the ceremony was over and Rowan’s stomach was rumbling. Loudly. Seated next to Aelin, he knew she could hear it and she continued to sneak glances and little smirks at him. The hunger he could deal with. The sly glances from Aelin? Not so much. She had been driving him insane since she floated down those stairs and it was slowly but surely causing him to lose his cool. That would be if he ever had it in the first place.
And as the night went on, the torture only continued. Throughout dinner, her arm would brush his as she turned to talk to Lysandra next to her, her leg would tap against his own when she told a joke, and she would find any excuse to touch him as often as she could. In normal circumstances, he wouldn’t mind. But they were here as friends. And these touches were making him want much, much more than that.
The only time he felt like he could breathe was when Aelin got up to dance with Lysandra to an upbeat pop song, leaving Rowan and Aedion sitting alone at their table to chat. Rowan had a few drinks already but he was nowhere near drunk. A nice buzz was flowing through him but he was still very much so in control of his actions.
At least, that’s what he thought until Aedion cleared his throat. Rowan broke his stare from Aelin’s sensuous dancing. Did she even know what she looked like to him? How much she was torturing him just by being herself? He wasn’t sure if she was aware. But Aedion sure as hell was.
The blonde man gave him a knowing look and raised an eyebrow. Rowan just rolled his eyes and allowed his gaze to maneuver back to Aelin. He caught the moment when she threw her head back and laughed, the sound making his bones feel like they were both on fire and also a pile of mush. It was a feeling that he was unaccustomed to, having only felt anything of the sort with his high school girlfriend. But if that feeling was a good one, this one made him feel like he was flying. Made him feel a need so deep that he wasn’t sure he would ever recover. He needed every inch of her. Not only her body, but her soul, her smiles, her laughter, her tears. He wanted everything.
“Fuck,” he muttered under his breath.
Beside him, Aedion chuckled. “You’re only now just realizing it?”
Rowan could do nothing but stare at the table, knowing that if he looked at Aedion, his secretly harbored feelings would be completely out in the open for the other man to see. And if he looked up at Aelin, the same outcome. So yeah, he was fucked.
“I know you’re having a complete crisis over being in love with her but I’m glad you finally figured it out. Took you long enough.”
That made Rowan look toward the man sitting next to him, brows furrowed.
“Yeah, we’ve all known this for ages. I feel like it was obvious to anyone with eyes, to be completely honest. Some of us even have a bet on how long it’ll take for you two to finally admit that you’re in love with each other.”
Rowan made to open his mouth with a denial but Aedion held up a hand. “Nope, dude. Save the bullshit. I know just by looking at you that you’re so far gone for her, it’s unreal. And I know that Aelin has never been as happy as when she’s with you. She never laughed this freely until she met you.” Aedion let out a small huff of breath. “You have my blessing.”
Rowan just repeated his earlier statement. “Fuck.”
Their conversation was interrupted by a breathless Aelin sitting in the seat to Aedion’s right, where she promptly picked up the half-full glass of wine and chugged it.
“So what are you boys gossiping about over here that has poor Whitethorn all red in the face?”
Internally, Rowan was panicking. Aedion opened his mouth to say something that Rowan was sure to be snarky but before he could, Rowan blurted out, “birds!”
The corners of Aelin’s mouth quirked up slightly. “Birds…?” Rowan could tell that she didn’t fully believe him but luckily, Aelin was already half drunk. He hoped she would just let it go.
The first mistake Rowan made was making eye contact with her. She always had an uncanny ability to read him like an open book, despite most people not understanding him. As she narrowed her eyes, the part of their souls that has always been intertwined translated for him, as if to say, I don’t believe you and think you’re full of shit, Buzzard.
So Rowan sent his own thoughts back, I don’t know what you’re talking about, Fireheart.
The second mistake was continuing to hold her gaze. Not because he gave anything away to her but rather because it prompted the man sitting in between them to throw his hands in the air and exclaim, “Oh no. Oh helllll no. This isn’t happening right in front of me.” Aedion quickly shoved his chair away from the table and got up to leave. Before walking away completely, he turned around and pointed right at the two of them. “I’m tired of this bullshit. You guys need to get it together and just fucking make out already. Gods.” And with his piece said, Aedion stalked away, directly to the bar where he knocked back a shot immediately.
Rowan turned back to Aelin, whose eyes were wide and brows furrowed.
“Umm, what just happened?”
The only thing Rowan could do was shrug. He sure as hell wasn’t going to lie to her but he wasn’t sure that he could outright confess his feelings, either. He was saved from deciding by the transition to a slower song, one he knew Aelin liked. As he looked back over at her, her eyes had drifted closed and her shoulders were swaying slightly, moving along to the lilting melody of the song.
Rowan shoved his chair away from the table, extending his hand toward her. Blue eyes met his own and held his gaze with an intensity that could’ve set him on fire. “Dance with me, Fireheart.”
Aelin managed a small smile and took his hand, following him to the dance floor where Lysandra and Aedion and her parents were already coupled up and swaying back and forth. He gently guided her hand to rest at his shoulder, laying his own on her waist, and cradling her other to his chest.
Looking down at her, he felt like he could do this forever. Her bright teal eyes were hazed with alcohol and something else, as if she felt content, safe. Slowly, she tilted her head so it rested on his chest. Of their own accord, Rowan’s lips gently placed a kiss to her hair, inhaling her sweet lemon verbena and lavender scent. Aelin always smelled so good. So…comforting. Like home.
Through the haze of their otherworldly bubble, Aelin murmured something.
“Hmm?” he asked.
Pulling her head back, she answered him, “I said ‘are you going to tell me what that was back there at the table? With Aedion?”
He tensed, Aelin tensing along with him. “It was nothing, Aelin.”
She raised an eyebrow in protest. He knew she was disappointed. She could tell he was lying through his teeth. “It obviously wasn’t nothing. Just tell me. Did my mom say something? She and my aunts have been watching us all night like hawks.”
“Really, Fireheart...I…It’s nothing. Everything’s good.” He gave her a tight smile, hoping she would let it go and they could go back into their bubble. But, of course, this was Aelin. She tensed even further, pulling her hand off of his shoulder and making to pull away from him completely. But before she could walk away from him, he grabbed her hand and as gently as he could, pulled her back toward him. She was caught off guard, Rowan could easily tell that much.
He slowly began to sway them back and forth again. Not caring about the eyes on them, he murmured “I’m not good at this.”
Aelin’s brows furrowed together. “At what?”
Rowan’s shoulders shrugged up and down of their own accord. “This. Talking about…about my feelings.”
Aelin’s head tilted in that way of hers that told him she was thinking. “And what about your feelings are you having a hard time with?”
“I’m not having a hard time with my feelings, I just…I can’t–” Rowan sighed. “For fuck’s sake.” It was at that moment, when Aelin was looking up at him with her eyes that could see everything, her beautiful mind that could work out any problem, that he grabbed her face. “Aelin–I love you. I’m in love with you.” Rowan felt as if his heart was going to beat out of his chest, his breathing so ragged as he waited in anticipation for what she would say back. But the answer didn’t come after a few seconds. And then it didn’t come after a few more. Aelin just stood there, wide-eyed and mouth opening and closing as if she couldn’t find the words, either. And bit-by-bit, Rowan was beginning to give up hope.
Slowly, he loosened his grip on her face, meaning to step back and give her space. But before he could pull away completely, Aelin threw her arms around his neck, dragging his head down forcefully and attaching her lips to his own. If he was being honest, it was probably the least romantic kiss he’d ever experienced but it didn’t matter one bit because it was Aelin.
The kiss was over before it started and Aelin pulled back slightly. Just enough to murmur, “I love you, too, Buzzard.”
He couldn’t help the smile that overtook his face. Properly this time, he held her face between his hands and brought her mouth back to his. This kiss was entirely different from the first. Gone was the urgency and desperation and in its place was genuine love and devotion. Would he ever get enough of this? He could’ve died in her kiss a happy man right at that moment. But he hoped that he would get many more chances to experience Aelin in all her glory.
Cheers and clapping broke them out of their reverie, startling them both back into reality. Rowan assumed it was cheering for Galan and his wife but as Rowan’s gaze roamed over the crowd, they all seemed to be watching…him. Aelin’s mother was at the head of her sisters, all five of the Ashryver sisters looking toward him and Aelin. All with smirks on their face. He could’ve sworn he heard a few swoony sighs as he and Aelin made their way back to their seats, faces aflame.
Once seated, Aelin leaned in close, putting her hand dangerously high on his thigh. “Well, I’d say it’s not such a bad thing that our room only has one bed, wouldn’t you Buzzard?”
Rowan narrowed his eyes. “Did you plan this, Fireheart?”
Aelin shrugged. “Maybe, maybe not. Who could ever know.” Rowan pinched her side, making her giggle. “I will say, though, that my wheels might have started turning the moment I walked in on you having a nice little smutty dream about me.”
Rowan gaped. “Wh-what?!”
Aelin shot him an answering smirk. “Oh yeah, did you think I didn’t know? You were literally moaning my name in your sleep. How else was I supposed to take that? Unless there’s another Aelin in your life, which, if that’s the case, excuse me, I’ll let you two be alone.” She feigned getting up from the table but he pulled her right back down, bringing her face close to his.
“And so what if I was, Fireheart?” He murmured in her ear. He both saw and felt the shiver that made its way down her body.
“Then, Buzzard, I’d say its a very good thing that our room has a king bed.” While his blood heated at her promise, he couldn’t help but think that this was the start of something amazing. Something that felt like home.

Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven, W. B. Yeats Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Will starts receiving letters in his locker from a secret admirer who claims to be in love with him, but who could it even be? He keeps writing back, hoping he won't get his heart broken in the process.
Warnings: none

Read an excerpt below:
Dear Admirer,
I’ve been thinking about it and wondering, is there something else I can call you? It just feels so weird that we’ve exchanged so many letters but I only know you as “Admirer” still. I guess it’s kind of impersonal. I can’t really think of anything off the top of my head, but if you have any suggestions or there’s something else you’d be okay with, I’d appreciate it a lot.
After all, with you sending me such sweet poems (which, it was a very nice poem), it feels weird not even being able to picture you (at least a little) in my mind.
Do we share English, though? We also had that poem last week. I suppose there are a couple sections of English Lit, so you could be in one of those instead. Sorry. I’m still really curious about who you are. I don’t think that’s going to go away until you share that with me. In return, I guess I’ll share one of the poems we covered that I really liked:
...I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
It made me think of what the two of us have. I guess… I’m putting a lot of faith and trust into you, Admirer. Please don’t hurt me?
You share such sweet thoughts with me and tell me all these compliments, but I’m worried when this is all said and done, it’ll all be a joke or a lie.
I just hope it really will be like you said, where we can curl up and watch movies together or go on dates together.
Love, Will
P.S. I’m glad to know I’m not alone in feeling like we’re growing up too fast. I’ll try to give some more leeway to my friends, I guess. My mom doesn’t put too much pressure on me to grow up (like it sounds like your parents do) because of everything I’ve been through, so I’ve been lucky, but I guess I got a little self-centered and didn’t think about other people’s parents. I’m glad you’ve learned to slow down and enjoy the time we do have left as kids.
