When Liberals describe a piece of media dealing with contemporary war or politics as being "Morally Ambiguous" they mean nearly always mean that it questions the specific decisions of those in power, not the basic ideological assumptions that their power rests upon. Like it's always "Was it a good idea to invade this tyrannical terrorist shithole in order to spread freedom and democracy?" or "Is it okay to torture evil terrorists shitheads to save people from their oppression", never questioning whether the US actually are protecting the innocent and spreading prosperity or if their enemies really are straightforwardly sadistic oppressors. It may question whether the US is acting like a good guy, but it always affirms that the US inherently is good or at least has the greatest capacity to be. Even in Liberal media where the doesn't come off looking the best, they still make sure to present their enemies as even worse. Not to mention the way that any atrocities the US does commit are presented as either mistakes, malicious perversions of the system (probably orchestrated by enemy infiltrators anyway) or tragic but necessary evils. Meanwhile the atrocities committed by their foes are the proof of their innate evil and strong necessity of stopping them; this is the basis of that whole discussion around whether terrible means should be adopted to achieve the noble end of defeating these villains.

And like a story apparently "isn't making a political statement" when it doesn't give a clear answer on these terms, but the terms themselves are never up for discussion. Like I heard someone call Call of Duty: Modern Warfare "apolitical" because it neither justifies nor condemns stuff like those SAS soldiers torturing Arabs and killing sleeping or unarmed Russians (leaving it for the player to decide oooooooooh sooooo deep), as though its choice of antagonists and decision to present them as unambiguously evil isn't a statement in of itself. And like its choice to give Soviet imagery to the Russian Ultranationlists is apparently just a silly oversight (like ooooh real Ultranationalists hate those Soviet lefties hahaha) that says nothing at all about the creator's view of international politics and anti-US ideologies.

As far as your average Liberal is concerned, media contains political statements are when a character turns directly to the camera and says "This thing is good/bad". Anything else is deep stuff that makes you think and lets you come to your own conclusions. Just play the game, don't worry about who set the rules

Do you have headcanons for the Ancient Hero?

Mine are that:

he’s Rauru and Sonia’s adopted son. He is the son of a Zonai woman and the Hylian son of a Gerudo (which are more commonly then Gerudo voes). Basically he’s half Zonai, 1/4 Hylian, and 1/4 Gerudo. He gets his red hair from his grandma.

As a kitten he accidentally tore off Ganondorf’s nipple. How? Rauru was trying to give Ancient a bath but didn’t notice that he had attached himself to Ganondorf’s nipple ring, at least not until Ganondorf was screaming in pain. Thankfully Zonai technology reattached his nipple and the ring.

Zonai have two names, one in animalistic growls and grunts and the other in Hylain when they’re older and have a grasp of the language. Ancient never got his Hylian until he was in his teens and it was Link. He hated it because of the fact it was chosen due to the Triforce marking he had.

Ancient saw Zelda (Flora) turn into the Light Dragon. He was only a kitten then but he wanted to help her one day return her to normal

During the first battle against Calamity Ganon, Ancient’s back got broken and this caused Calamity to sealed rather than destroyed. Zonai and Sheikah technology helped him walk again.

Ancient is very intelligent and helped create the Guardians and other ancient tech we see in Wild’s time. I got this headcanon from @ninma

He will steal anything shiny. He created the Sheikah Slate so he can store his shiny things after he filled all of his hiding spots.

I'm gonna talk about Baby Aspect for this because if I talk about the one in Aspects I'll get into spoilers territory lmao

His parents are both Hylian/Zonai hybrids and in his era this is very common, so he's used to seeing a bunch of people who look like him

that said, he's seven, so he just doesn't question things like appearance. Are they friend-shaped? He will befriend them.

Yes, this includes unsuspecting monsters. He is very cute and catches them all off guard.

He speaks fluent Hylian as well as growl-purr-cat-language. Some of the older generations couldn't, but it's become the norm for everyone to be at least bi-lingual

When he meows it's the cutest damn thing you ever heard

He was born a few years after Flora became the Light Dragon, and she's already been mythologised by his time.

He doesn't have all of the tattoos/markings that he will when fully grown, but he does have them on his face. It's a painless and joyful ceremony that welcomes a child into the wider community and marks them with their family design, and it's really lovely. He's super proud of them and can't wait to get older and earn more.

His parents won't let him get his ears pierced until he's 12 and he's SO MAD

He loves fish so much. Especially cut into strips. And fried. In breadcrumbs. Fish fingers, he loves fish fingers.

Extremely susceptible to cuddles. Will fall asleep in your arms. Also purrs in his sleep. Extremely sweet. Actual bby.

THE CHARACTERS

A quick intro to the members of the DPA! (in our show)

Black Hole (voiced by Sohl501) - Black Hole is the main character of the show (adoptive father of Lightning) and the founder of Death PACT Again. He wants to make the company a bit more heard of and more popular. Black Hole is a calm, clairvoyant and omniscient wise individual that cares about the lives and safety of their fellow objects, but he wants Death PACT Again (his company) to become bigger but not for money just so more objects can start using them for life saving tips. But he does tend to be a bit stubborn at times which can end up making decisions that cause them to get in trouble a lot but he still does care about his company and his employees and just wants his company to succeed.

Liam/Lightning (voiced by Bapple) - Lightning is the 18 year old adoptive son of Black Hole. He is into playing video games (his favorites include Bullet Toes (a parody of Goldeneye and Call of Duty), Mothertruckers, Sunrise of the Unalived and Rapper’s Delight) which are games he streams on the internet. He is also into skateboarding and drawing and he’s a fan of hip-hop and rock and roll artists. He isn’t the brightest tool in the shed as he tends to be dimwitted (but not on Mark’s level of dimwit) more like he’s not bright, he tends to be a bit embarrassed by Black Hole (aka his dad) because well Black Hole is out of touch with his generation, but he still cares about his dad/boss and still wants to help him out. He is the in the middle of the spectrum of being an outsider extrovert and a chronically online femboy twink

Fanny (voiced by Big Ziti) - Fanny is the assistant manager/best friend of Black Hole. Contrasted to Black Hole’s chill and collected personality, Fanny is more of a temperamental and hot-headed individual. She tends to get angry at people for sometimes good reasons or sometimes bad reasons. She’s not like violently angry but more like strict angry (she still can hit people if angered). She can also be kinda grumpy at times, like demanding and sometimes moody. Fanny also is insecure about her lack of arms, since she feels like a freak because everyone else doesn’t have them. Fanny also has a nice side to her as she cares about Black Hole and wants to look out for him so he doesn’t get into trouble

Trevor/Tree (voiced by Tokei) - Trevor is the scientist and smart one of the group. Trevor is bisexual and he has a slight crush on Black Hole (ooOOOOoooh). Trevor is quite serious, uptight and deadpan. He plays the straight man into situations and the antics of certain characters. He also seems to be quite stingy at times and deeply cares about his items. He does seem to have more of a sillier and mischievous side.

Remote (we got the same voice actor from BFDI to reprise her role as Remote) - Remote is an invention of Trevor. She is presented as a transforming robot that can transform into an object or an animal. She has this eager, optimistic and outgoing perspective of life and wants to cherish it even if she’s a robot. 

Mark/Marker (voiced by BendyFan Animations) - Mark is the intern of Death PACT Again. He doesn’t seem to really do much outside of just cleaning up the places or just learning about the field. He is the dimwitted, dumbass stoner type character as he tends to get high off of weed and tends to drink a lot of beer, so like he clearly has unhealthy habits. Due to him being high a lot, he seems to have quite an interest towards dirt, like he’ll talk about dirt and find ways to insert dirt into an conservation, to the point where his high ass eats the dirt (he also tends to eat other inedible/disgusting combos of foods but he mostly eats dirt because he likes dirt)

Priscilla/Pie (voiced by AzureBlue) - Priscilla is the secretary of Death PACT Again. She is the fashionista of the group. Priscilla is the rudest, snobbiest, bitchiest, judgemental, dickish, moody, snootiest and did we say bitchiest of the team. She only cares about her beauty and looks and hates doing the job.

Also I did see that you posted the first one and I read it last night 🥰🥰🥰 It was really lovely and I'm always a sucker for people tying Hermie's shapeshifting abilities into his mental/emotional state it's soooo tasty to me. Also like the moment where he looks at Normal and both of his eyes turn hazel was SO sweet to me (not 100% sure if it was intended to be this way, but I interpreted it as Normal's eyes are hazel and when Hermie recognizes he's there it grounds him for a very brief moment and it's reflected in his eyes which is. So. Ashkdvfkhdvfkhasvffvs 🥺🥺🥺)

And the second one sounds REALLY cool, too! I really like exploring Hermie's identity issues and I think it's so real that Hermie wouldn't want the added pressure of figuring out Exactly Who He Is on top of. Well *gestures at all of season 2 thus far*. Very excited to give it a read!!!

I found out today that adults can be adopted by a stepparent or a parental figure if one or both of your biological parents are garbage (like my egg donor is).

I brought it up to my (step)mom (the woman who raised me since I was 8 weeks old) and she said yes with zero hesitation 🥹🩷

She even went ahead and found a lawyer!

The best part? My egg donor will be removed from my birth certificate and my adopted mom will be added.

The NEXT best part?? My egg donor will be notified and will be able to contest and Oooooooooh I fucking hope she does!

I want to be present for the second time she loses me in a courtroom. 🤣 She lost me when I was 8 months old and I get to be there when I' 30 for when she eats shit and is humiliated by the receipts I bring along.

Oooooooooh that’s so interesting and also probable. I saw a post recently about how Blitz thinks he makes everyone’s lives worse but he actually makes them better in the end (giving Moxxie a job, adopting Loona, engaged with Stolas leading to him standing up to his abusive wife) and yeah, that makes a lot of sense. And I think Blitz’ generosity isn’t noticed or talked about a lot (I kinda forgot about it until you brought it up) but it is an important part of him. Blitz saw that he could give Stolas something so he did (maybe there’s a couple other reasons thrown in there as well but that makes sense).

No but I think we need to talk about this (Poll below)

I’ve been thinking about when Blitz caught feelings for Stolas and just kinda considering the like emotional timeline of this relationship and I came back to this moment and it kinda made me wonder what’s going through Blitz’ mind here. His expression when he first looks back at Stolas is kinda hard to read for me but he seems kinda remorseful and is a little taken aback when Stolas says that Blitz was his first ever friend. Blitz could have easily taken the grimoire and left and at this point he’s not too emotionally attached to Stolas (I think as kids he genuinely considered Stolas a friend but as adults they’re close to strangers just due to time and space and Stolas is way more invested in Blitz at this moment). I think about it and I think there’s multiple reasons that Blitz decided to sleep with Stolas at this point but it’s hard for me to choose the most prominent reason and I want to hear other people’s thoughts on this.

OK SO TURTLE SHOW. specifically im referring to rise of the tmnt (the 2018 reboot) bc WOW is it fucking good. the series doesnt start from the begginning but i will explain it from the start of the timeline of relevant events. so like thousands of years ago, there was a family in japan known as the foot clan (why theyre known like that isnt explained they just Are). they lived very happily for a very long time until their village was hit by war and they lost almost all of their resources. their leader, oroku saki, was so desperate he made a deal with a devil to "save his clan" - what actually happened was that he was given a suit of armor, the dark armor, that ended up corrupting his soul and turning him into a demon known as the shredder. his daughter, karai, exiled herself from the foot clan and founded the hamato clan, her family, and decided to seal the shredder (along with her father, who is still stuck in the dark armor) away in a prison dimension. from then on, the descendants of the hamatos must be trained from a young age to defeat the shredder should he return. this goes on for a LONG ASS TIME until we reach the 1980s, when the youngest member of the hamato clan, hamato yoshi, is abandoned by his mother so she may fulfil her role as a member of the hamato clan. hes raised by grandfather and he revolts against the clan's traditions and absolutely REFUSES to learn anything about the traditions. he decides to instead move to the united states and become an action star, adopting the name lou jitsu. despite just being an actor, he IS a genuinely skilled martial artist and he gets the attention of a mysterious woman known only as big mama. he starts dating her and even gets to the point of proposing to her, at which point she reveals her true self: shes a jorogumo (a spider yokai that takes the form of a beautiful woman) and she kidnaps lou and takes him to the battle nexus: a hidden, mystical battle arena where the strongest warriors both from human and yokai society fight to decide who is the strongest. lou jitsu mantains himself as the battle nexus champion for... a long time (maybe months, maybe years, the show doesnt make it clear but its likely the latter) until - big shocker - he gets kidnapped AGAIN, this time by a yokai named baron draxum who is running Unethical ExperimentsTM on creatures from the human world - involving four turtles. the reason he kidnaps lou jitsu is because he wants his dna for his mutations so he can create strong warriors for a Sinister PurposeTM. turns out lou jitsu is Not very happy about having his dna be used for this type of shit so he steals the four turtles before their mutation is complete - but its far too late to stop them from mutating, he can just slow the process. To Make Matters Worse, lou is hit by the ooze (the mutagen that draxum used) Just as a small rat that was sneaking around the lab bites him, and he starts mutating too. he runs away with the baby turtles but not before destroying draxum's lab, leaving draxum to spend the next 13 years rebuilding and recreating the ooze. ill continue in another ask but this is the backstory and set up for the show :)

5x10 gave us fuckall nuthin' for the Buckley-Diaz family.

So here's the sweet, wholesome family together at the end of Drawing Pictures. It's a 5 chapter angst heavy version of buddie finally getting together, but as you'll see it ends all fluffy and sweet.

"We haven't told Christopher yet, though," Eddie continued. "I mean, we are doing awesome, I just wanna be really careful about bringing big changes into his life." He stopped and broke out in a huge smile. "But when we do tell him-"

"Oh, he'll be thrilled," Bobby assured them both with the confidence of a man who could see the future. "Everyone knows how much that kid loves his Buck!"

"Oh my god!" Maddie let out a high pitched squeal, clapping softly and wiggling with excitement. "If you two get married I'll be his Aunt!"

"Slow down, Big Sister!" Buck insisted. "Eddie and I aren't even thinking about that right now."

"Oooooooooh, and you can adopt, too!" The woman crooned, more to tease her brother than anything else. "I vote girl! Adopt a girl! And can I be your Maid of Honor?!"

"Will you shut up?" Buck whined, then turned to Chimney. "Can you shut her up?"

"You vastly overestimate my power here, friend," was Chim's shrugging response.

Not long after that night, Eddie noticed his son had transitioned from drawing giraffes and tigers to sharks and sea lions, so he and Buck decided to surprise the kid with a weekend trip to a research and rehabilitation aquarium that had just recently opened up to the public.

It was about a 90 minute drive to get there, and the whole time Christopher could barely contain his excitement. Hence the question 'how much longer?' was asked, by Eddie's estimation, roughly a thousand times.

"I don't think he's ever moved this fast in his life!" He whispered in Buck's ear while the kid charged ahead as fast as his legs and crutches could carry him.

Buck chuckled quietly. "If we're not careful he may outrun us."

The massive facility turned out to be a perfect blend of entertaining and educational.

Most of their marine animals, a wandering staff member explained, were rescued from illegal and/or abusive aquariums (or ultra-rich private owners) all over the world.

Of those rescued, some could be taught to survive in the wild and released. The rest were kept in environments designed by marine biologists and other experts to replicate, as close as possible, the animal's natural habitat.

Christopher focused mostly on the happy fact that there were so many smart people dedicated to rehab and rescue.

But for the adults in the room, it was hard not to get angry while reading some of the informational plaques peppered throughout the aquarium.

One wealthy jackass had even kept a dolphin by itself in an environment hardly bigger than a backyard swimming pool, and after the raid-and-rescue it took nearly a year to get the poor thing healthy again and teach it to socialize with other dolphins.

Christopher went on observing and learning various (less depressing) facts about each animal and habitat, and Eddie was pretty sure his kid could spend weeks there. Just staring and commenting. Asking staff members a million questions.

We'll have to visit this place again, Eddie promised himself.

"Y'know, up this close their faces look just like dogs!" Buck observed when a seal pup swam close to the glass. "I didn't know that. Look Chris!" He pointed to one of the smaller seals as it swam in loops only inches away from the glass. "Water puppies, right?"

"Water puppies!" Christopher giggled. "Yeah."

As the two continued their animated chat Eddie stood back, taking it all in, so happy he could barely feel his feet on the ground.

Through one dark hallway was a habitat populated by jellyfish. Many of them bioluminescent, and most having damaged tentacles or even (and neither Buck nor Eddie knew this was a thing for jellyfish) nerve damage.

Sad origin stories, yes, but the colorful display did manage hypnotize all three of them.

"Yeeeeaaaaaaah," Buck litled the single word, barely aware of anything else as they went on staring at the strange, graceful creatures.

The next day at their favorite park, Christopher knelt on a picnic bench between the two men and tapped on his dad's shoulder. "Hey . . . hey dad . . . ?"

"What's up, little man?"

"When can My Buck move in with us?"

Buck and Eddie exchanged confused looks and Buck leaned closer, placing a gentle hand on Christopher's back. "Um, whaaaaaaat makes you think I'm moving in?"

"You held hands at the aquarium."

Eddie's eyes darted back and forth between Buck's and Christopher's, certain the kid was wrong. They'd been fastidious about maintaining a lack of any romantic-type PDA when he was around.

For the time being, at least, Eddie opted for gaslighting. "I, uh, I think you might be seeing things, pal."

"Nope," Chris chirped, shaking his head as he squirmed off the bench and gathered his crutches. "At the glowing jellyfish place. You held hands a few minutes. I think My Buck should move in someday."

Before either man could say anything, the boy walked off toward the play equipment.

Buck and Eddie remained seated.

Gaping at one another.

At a complete loss for words.

"Well," Eddie finally spoke up, "Christopher just blew up my timeline, so I guess that's done."

"Technically a bunch of glowing sea aliens blew up your timeline," said Buck with a tiny grin.

Eddie just chuckled and slid closer to him. With their whole reason for avoiding displays of affection having been obliterated, Buck decided to take things a step further, threading his fingers through Eddie's and resting their joined hands on the table.

The silence between them was relaxed and cozy for a long while, until Eddie broke it with what he felt was an important question:

"You do know they're not actually aliens, right?"

Buck's only response was to give the man a playful shoulder bump.

They went on watching Christopher while a few of his usual park friends helped him to climb various structures. It could be quite a process at times, but through trial and error they'd collectively figured out ways of keeping Chris involved in all the fun.

There was the odd topple or bruise at times, of course-even a sprained wrist once.

But since his son considered it all worth the price of admission into Regular World, Eddie had long since trained himself to sit back and just let things happen.

At least where parenting was concerned.

In other areas 'just letting things happen' was not Eddie's strong suit.

So how long should we wait before you move in? He wondered, casting sidelong glances at Buck as he mulled over the question. Anything less than a year is too soon, right? Yeah, we should wait at least a year. Maybe a year and a half. That's it, a year and half.

Eight months later he, Christopher, and Buck were wrapping Buck's plates and bowls in newspaper and packing them carefully into boxes.

On the side of each box Christopher scrawled in blue and green crayons: 'For Our New House.'

First impression: He radiates pure bastatd energy, he just looks so pleased with himself... I feel like he's hiding something... I like him tho, I'd be his friend.

Season 1: *when the fandom theorized he was evil and shady* "STOP SAYING HE IS EVIL AND SHADY, you don't have all the facts!!!" and those are? "I LOVE HIM 🥺😭"

Season 1:  oh holy shoulders give me strength for I know he is a forbidden man, but rather than give me strength you only seem to test my resilience to reach for the forbidden fruit and test my already crumbling sanity

Season 2: *Simeon alluding to feelings for MC with subtle actions and text messages* *high pitched shrieking only audible to dogs*

Overall thoughts: Have you ever seen a man so perfect you cry? Like, God, his beauty is unbelievable!!!

Luke 

First impression: Yes, operator? I would like the custody of child forms... yeah, I'll hold 💅

Season 1: *when Luke is obviously still afraid and uncomfortable of being in Devildom, and any demon looks at him funny. Especially that one lesson when Lucifer tries to attack him in that catacombs looking place*

Season 2: *watching Luke get more comfortable and even miss Devildom, watching his relationship with Barbatos and Solomon develop* that's growth

Overall thoughts: *after Luke accepted being MC's guardian Angel*

Lilith

First Impression: I know she's supposed to be good... but what if she turns out to be like Rika??? I'm sorry but I can't go through this again, dude

During Season 1: *towards the end when Lilith reveals all the truth to MC* I AM SO SORRY FOR EVER DOUBTING U MAMA LILITH 😭😭😭 U DIDN'T DESERVE THAT I'M SO SORRY
