so ive been thinking about this au ive wanted to make inspired by the incredible pogd au by @beluvbug for a while !!

this is a very self indulgent au based on pinkie dealing with the conflict of wanting to be taken seriously while also playing themselves down constantly as a way to please others, especially when it come to their identity as nonbinary and their disabilities

i was going to make the first post about this au a little comic but ironically the disabilities have made that a bit hard and i wanted to post something for it

I find it so fucking hilarious that lily orchard calls people bigots for saying her content is bad when the content itself HEAVILY evokes that era of edgy “anti-SJW” criticism. Like i was watching her content and mf E;R at the same time. Like, they guy who defined gender as “what your brain believes your sex is”.

Now, im not gonna claim that lily is a bigot just because her content reminds me of a different edgy youtuber (shes a bigot bc she misgenders ppl she doesn’t like and uses more slurs than a drunk sailor), but i grew out of both of their content for the same reason: it’s boring and i never feel like i learn anything. Like i love the YMS Lion King live action review bc bro does his research and i learn more about how film works as a result, as well as music. He can get angry and frustrated at the work itself but the layers of why its bad are always explained in a way that’s inherently informative. Shit like lily orchard and E;R feel more like a public stoning than any kind of dissection or critique. Its blunt and unrefined, and the only thing i take from it is that you don’t like this piece of media, so its bad? But if you point out that the critiques are shallow you’re suddenly a bigot or “triggered”. As someone who writes and makes art themselves i don’t find that compelling at all, nor do i think that content should be revered. I often rewatch reviews from people like YMS, Hbomberguy, Lindsey Ellis, Folding Ideas, etc. because they hold up well and i love relearning or relistening to the narrative of their criticism. I tried to rewatch stuff from Lily when i was 15 and quit halfway through. Even short clips i see of her content now make me more and more proud of 15 year old me for realizing, even if only bc it was boring to me at the time, that her content just wasn’t for me. Im glad i was able to find media criticism that taught me more about stories and makes my own writing stronger for it.

lilith comes across as a lone wolf most of the time tbh. she's gruff. not very personable. people tend to stay away from her because she makes them uneasy.......most of the time she prefers it that way.

there are a few notable exceptions to this though and oscar is one of them. they've been companions for a long time and though their loyalty to each other has been tested they have yet to fail such tests. they actually enable each other a lot when it comes to their wilder sides. lilith is the devil on oscar's shoulder that tells him why not indulge in carnage? and oscar is the devil on hers telling her that it's her right to punish anyone who gets on her bad side.

relevant lilith lore i can't remember if i've said on this blog before; she's actually a plant/flesh hybrid. she has a plant-like exterior that contains flesh and organs and blood and bones etc. so if she gets cut she also bleeds chlorophyll and such. she's capable of manipulating that too in order to create a hard bark shell or thorny vines to protect herself. not to mention she can ALSO change her general shape and often takes the form of large beasts.

lorelei my beloved <3 she's from my main untitled wip and i'm actually still figuring out just how she fits into things! in terms of connections to other characters, she's teo's best friend and azar's paternal cousin. she comes from a large family and considers teo to be one of her brothers, even if they aren't blood related. she also knows a little bit of magic! i'm still figuring that part out but it's definitely something that's handy to have in a pinch. between lorelei and teo, she's the realist.

lorelei actually grew up in a town built over a river system, so she's a strong swimmer and has grown quite familiar with skills like knot tying and operating small watercraft. i'm still figuring out what her family's trade is but i'm considering something mercantile, since they live in a town on the main route to the coastal cities.

one of the things lorelei values most is her family. that's actually why she decides to accompany teo on his mission to find his missing mother. they're her brother and aunt, family she's always known. she wouldn't allow teo to sneak off on his own and potentially get himself killed if she could watch his back instead. along that same vein, once she realises azar isn't happy with his current life she makes it her top priority to help him escape and be welcomed back to the family he's been forbidden from for all this time.

also in our story 'New Hallownest' Kin was defeated by Ghost, but before defeating their dream boss/spirit counterpart, Kin was revived using lifeblood. (A popular headcanon or Au headcanon? Idk I just love it)

I would love love love it if there had been a 'lifeblood quest' in the game where you have to bring lifeblood from the abyss to Kin, who is then healed, and you can have more interactions! it would be my favorite thing (also I legitimately thought this was a thing before playing the game because of how much lifeblood kin fanart I ran into XD)

Anyway it's canon to me.

@mommyclan I am not bringing out the color pencils if I draw them again. But this is the sorta reference for my Totally normal cat, Patchflame! See, she has cool claws and fur like a normal cat. They have patches, like a normal cat, so they got named that when they were picked up as an apprentice and dropped into mommyclan.

She has a secret sad backstory where she's like some sorta lab experiment. but she doesn't remember shit about it so she's completely fine. They think cats are also just very diverse. totally normal cats in mommyclan with horns and wings and such. She's one of them!

also they can breathe fire and uses this to torch their meals. this is the extent of their cooking abilities. This is also why she's called patchflame. totally normal thing to be named after! This also is sure to help with the arson issues. mhm.
